Used to be a solid neighborhood staple. Not sure what happened but the food is way more inconsistent and way more expensive than it used to be. I keep trying and sadly I think Im finally done. Found what seems to be a piece of electrical wiring in my food tonight. The order was also missing items and had things wrong. Id normally overlook order issues and I hate the idea of writing a bad review but its been inconsistent for too long and I cant forgive having to spit out building debris mid-meal.
I really like this restaurant because it has a relaxed & unrushed vibe. The backyard is a cool & comfy spot to drink a crisp Tamarind Jarritos while enjoying some tacos and a platter of nachos. The fresh juices are so yum - try the watermelon for a tastebud delight~~~~
Ordered here regularly. Usually for pick-up. I requested less rice, more lettuce with my mucho grande burrito with yogurt, as always. Many times I was given sour cream instead yet I ignored it. I received a burrito stuffed with rice, little meat, and no lettuce. It took over an hour to be delivered. I requested my money back and they told me to go through seamless then when seamless called they asked for their food back. It’s ridiculous for me to wait another hour, after 11pm because your staff wants to be ignorant and play with peoples orders. I was not rude, I was not insistent. I made a simple request, if you don’t want to honor it, say so. Don’t be disrespectful and childish for no reason.
Lately they have been very inconsistent. The chicken soup tasted weird with the chicken having the texture of marshmallows. You now have to place your order at the counter first before taking a seat. They open at one for lunch which is inconvenient for people who eat at 12. Prices keep rising. No longer provided those unique chips on the table.
First time amazing with Martinez. Ordered next day and the food was deplorable to say the least. But thats because Martinez wasnt there person like her really cared about us and that we were vegan very concerned about what we are eating and she made everything happen food was fresh and made to order the next day it was almost like I was a different restaurant
I have been ordering from this Restaurant from day one. This restaurant became my family and I preferred restaurant in our community. They had superb food. Unfortunately, I am sad to report that they are cutting corners to perhaps cut costs. The rice is parboiled which is the nastiest rice ever. My favorite plate The Mole Enchiladas tastes so different. It is poorly cooked with bad ingredients. Mole is one of the most exquisite Pre Hispanic Foods that you can taste. Unfortunately this restaurant has lowered the grade of this Mexican National Dish. The tacos were good size now they are smallest tacos I have ever eaten. My favorite is the Beef Barbacoa Taco. These tacos were super delicious, the meat was moist and super tender that I melted in your tongue. Now the taco is dry and tough.I love to support my local business especially those run and owned by Minorities. This restaurant no longer has my support. I have tasted better food and cooking from this restaurant when it started. Have they lowered the costs and with it they have lowered the grade and taste of the food? Absolutely YES! I withdraw my support to this restaurant.
This is a local restaurant exactly 3 blokcs from home. I enjoy Mexican food, so I was curious about the food. I am Vegetarian and always looking for a place. Their fajita burrito which comes with meat/seafood/ veggie was very good. The wait was reasonable and the seasoning on the filling was spicy but not over the top. I liked it a lot. You can order out or eat in. Enjoyably local place.
I do like this place. They have a great patio area for those warm nights. the food we got was a LOT for the price, so there was great value for 2 people. we got the whole chicken and it comes with beans, rice and salsa. they also gave us salsa on the side and these cute pinwheel flour things as appetizers. we tried the corn as well. The food was really well cooked and prepared and the total came to 11$ per person. service was really good too, and the food came quickly. I definitely recommend and will be back to try the rest of their items.
The food is good, but be prepared for long waits and a busy signal on the phone. The fish tacos are highly recommended as well as the very economical roast chickens in flavorful sauce. Also, the smoky salsa they give out at takeout is so good I always make sure I have some in my fridge.
The food is fresh, flavorful and filling. You will be shocked with the size of your burrito served her. Services was great. Out waitress was very friendly and accommodating.Tepache is open for dine-in and carry out. This is my new favorite place on the neighborhood.Try the shrimp burrito with an apple soda. Its something magical.
Great food but most of all the team made it feel wonderful. Warm and welcoming , I live in AZ now but coming home to Brooklyn with a great restaurant and people placed a smile on my face. I met up with my wife and sisters there near closing and I was not rushed at all. The young lady was amazing she even moved another table over for me to join the group.
I ordered a vegetarian burrito, and it came with pulled chicken or pork. I didn’t taste it, I just called the restaurant and asked for an exchange. The delivery man came and took the burrito, but they didn’t give me a replacement. I figured it was coming. And hour later I called back and no one picked up the phone. The night passed and I never got my vegetarian burrito. I called the restaurant several times over the next week to get my money back and complain, but every time they said that a manager would call me back and he did not. They said that they had a lot of fraudulent return requests, so now they treat everyone like a criminal And do not exchange their food, and the even don’t give your money back. I walked with my baby to the restaurant twice, and still no one could help. On the third visit, someone made a call and they gave me back my money. By far, the worst customer experience I’ve ever had. I will not go back to this restaurant.
This place wasnt good at all. The server was rude and quite unhelpful. We asked for napkins and she just said they dont have any which is weird for a restaurant. They took very long to make the food. Once we had the food, the next time the waitress showed up was to give us the bill after we ate. I ordered the chimichanga burrito which is priced at 15.50 i believe with your choice of meat. When i got the bill there was an extra charge for the steak but it never mentioned it was extra on the menu nor did the server tell me. When i questioned her about it she was visibly annoyed and got an attitude. I believe upcharges should be listed on the menu or at at least the patrons should be informed when ordering. I paid my bill and gave her a tip in hand. She didnt even bother to say thank you. I wouldnt patronize this business again.
Horrible food. It had no flavor whatsoever. I ordered through Ubereats and i never received my drink or extra sour cream that i requested. I couldnt eat this tasteless junk. I just threw it away, it was not worth the empty calories. I tried calling to dispute but their phone isnt even working. It was a shame to have to throw it all away but it really was that bad. The fajitas I ordered were all thrown together with all its sides and was a big mess. Terrible beans and clumpy rice. Im done. Tepache, I hope you AT LEAST try to reach out to see what the hell went wrong.
Again i have never entered or ordered from this place but it is on my regular route and i have acquaintances the frequent there and to date i have not heard any negative feedback. Maybe they should offer sample finger foods some times. If i sampled something and liked it im sure I would patronize them and maybe try other items on the Menu.
The food is good. The people are another story. I ordered through seamless and paid by card. The delivery guy ignored the delivery instructions and rings the bell upstairs. He hands my sister food and tells her how much. She pays him. I called them to complain and was told that they would take care of it. I have yet to receive a refund. My order was paid for twice! It was a $50 order. Super dishonest!!
DELICIOUS food, great and fast service, reasonably price. I went there with my kids for my oldest daughters birthday. I asked the staff to surprise her with a dessert and at the end of our dinner they did that and also played a birthday song throughout the restaurant. I was Very Happy.
The food was delicious and pretty authentic (almost on par with the Mexican cuisine Ive had in Arizona which says a lot).! I ordered take out on site and it was empty. I took off a star because I feel as though the staff could be a bit more personable- maybe it was just the day?
Got take-out here. The steak tacos were average at best and by the time the takeout came they were cold and the gauc was brown. The lab taco was quite tasty however. It wasnt a terribly long wait, rather more of an average take out delivery time so that leads me to wonder how long the food sat before the delivery guy left with it. The food was not as good as I had hoped based off of many other reviews. Will be trying another Mexican place next time. It is also slightly over-priced IMO.
I havent eaten from here in over a year and decided to try them again. It was then I remembered why I stopped eating here in the first place. I love Mexican food and thought they would have changed cooks by now.... The food is bland and unseasoned and over priced. I had to force myself to eat my $22 worth of what tastes like hospital food. I ordered the corn on the cob, the damn corn was boiled, BOILED!! Why isnt the corn grilled??? These cant be Mexicans worling here. I am disappointed, Tepache will not get another dime from me!!!
This restaurant is pretty authentic. I usually always order the sopes which used to be my favorite but I think they changed the recipe. Regardless its still good. I would recommend coming here!! The only down side is they dont serve alcohol so no margaritas while we wait for the food.
THEY TOOK FOREVER, MY FOOD WAS COLD AND WRONG!!!Let me start by saying Im so not the review type of person so if I logged in to google to make a review just know its bad! I think this is my first review in life without being asked - should I keep going? Every-time I order from them something is always missing or the food is cold. I ordered two burritos and fries. Fries never came, there was sauce all over the bag and the burritos was cold, plus the burrito had stuff in it that was not mentioned in the menu. When I called back the lady seemed clueless and told me she was only the cashier and she would tell the manager no kind of offer to help. I need my refund asap!
Absolutely love this place. This is actually a favorite of my boyfriend and I. Weve been going for about a year now and I cant say weve had anything that wasnt delicious. Ive tried almost all of their burritos and theyre all so good and big and filling. Highly recommended.
If I could zero stars I would after tonight’s experience with Tepache. This is usually my go-to restaurant on Grubhub, but tonight they disappointed my family and I ! There were 1-2 shrimps in the shrimp fajita burrito, and not to mention a BONE in one of the burritos ! Please inform me when shrimps had bones. Additionally, we had a order of tacos with cheese on it and there was literally one taco without cheese. And it gets “better,” in my chicken nachos there was a piece of beef. We called the restaurant and the guy on the phone had TERRIBLE customer service, and was rude ! Throw the whole Tepache away at this point!
I like Tepache, Ive had some very good food there and the vibe is great. However, tonight I stopped in for some Pozole soup on a cold night and was disappointed. The soup was quite bland and there was no hominy, just regular corn. Id go there again but wouldnt get this, Im afraid.
I just finished the excruciating experience of eating tacos from Tepache. They lost one start as soon as I saw the tortillas of my Fish, Carnitas, Birria and Tongue tacos. Prepackaged tortillas are an insult to this staple dish, I still can’t wash away the sorbic acid from the preservatives in those tortillas. Another start was lost due to the parched meat in the birria and carnitas tacos. The third start disappeared with the lack of limes in my order. How dare you sell me tacos without limes included! The fourth start died with the tongue taco, overcooked tongue should never make it into a taco. Finally, I have to leave one start to be able to leave this review and warning to future clients. If you’re looking for tacos, Taqueria Al Pastor in Bushwick is superb.
The foods decent here but I will not be ordering from them anymore.Halsey burrito with chicken mole is my go-to, and it never fails to satisfy. However, the delivery person is rude, refuses to/or is too lazy to deliver the food to my doorstep (I would think 20% tip covers this kind of thing). Bad customer service, even if its only a delivery, does kinda ruin the food for me.
I live in the neighborhood on Macon and wanted to test the waters given this place only opened about 2-3 weeks ago.1. Decor - Simple but effective. Plenty of seating, well air-conditioned, and good solid tables and chairs. Definitely a place where you can enjoy a sit-down meal.2. Service - Seated quickly, staff was attentive, came back multiple times asking if we were ok. Simple things like water refills were handled immediately!3. Food - VERY GOOD. I had a shrimp quesadilla and chicken nachos...my buddies had burritos. Everyone was happy...cleaned their plates...and was full. Nothin left to be said. This place is great and a fantastic edition to the neighborhood. Im hoping they get a liquor license because a solid selection of margaritas and cocktails would make it 6 stars!!!!!
This place is very mixed. When I go in I get decent service and good food. Sometimes when I order its ok. Once I ordered for pickup and they gave me a bag of stuff I didnt order. When I returned it they fixed the order. Tonight I ordered from Seamless and got the wrong food. I got meat when I ordered vegetarian. I contacted Seamless and Tepache refused to even acknowledge that they had delivered there wrong food. Very disappointing.
No accountabilityI frequent Tepache with my friends on a regular basis. I even know most of the staff by first name. Yesterday I decided to use delivery since I was coming straight from work...I placed my order...which took a half hour to arrive. I paid $18 for cold shrimp nachos. I called to speak to Tepache and they completely refused to do anything about my the cold food they delivered to my house. Needless to say I am sorely disappointed as this is one of my neighborhood places to eat. My friends and I will no longer support Tepache. You just lost a valuable customer!!
We are blessed to have Tepache in our neighborhood! The food is so delicious, theyve got a great patio/outdoor eating area, and the prices are the most reasonable Ive pretty much ever seen around here. Plus you can BYO beer and wine! With Olivinos on the next corner, its super convenient to grab a bottle and bring it with you.My favorite tacos are the Cactus tacos - wish they had a cactus burrito too!
This is probably the poorest customer service in this area! Placing a order by phone is a nightmare, waiting on a delivery is ridiculous as well.Me and my wife ordered 2 shrimp quesadi, the young lady on the phone explained that it would be 45 min - 1 hour to arrive. After waiting all that time for the food to arrive they sent 2 quesadi, one shrimp and one chicken. So I called and explained that to the you lady I spoke to previously. She explained that she was told by her manager that the delivery guy would be back to pickup the food to be inspected by the manager and she also explained that he stated if it is shrimp that he will be sending the food back.1) Quesadi $14 definitely not worth the aggravation plus the delivery guys generous tip.2) everyone know the difference between chicken and shrimp.3) he could have had the delivery guy check it with the correct order in hand.4) $40 bucks spent at this hole in the wall and Im still unsure as to what kind of fast one the manager assumed that I was trying to pull, extra food I guess? In conclusion clearly the people here are uneducated and clueless as to the importance of customer service and I will no longer be spending a cent of my hard earn money with this circus of a restaurant.
I enjoy their food very much. Only warning if you do sit outside do your best not to sit in the back outdoor area because there are rats playing out there. This happens at night. There is an empty lot next door of the restaurant. It is not the restaurant fault. Beware dining outside at night.
I can not complain about the wait because it clearly states 60-70 minutes delivery time. Sometimes they do come earlier. I personally like their chicken quesadilla- I am not a fan of their yellow rice. I was excited to try the Mexican corn Because Habana Outpost definitely opened my eyes to how good it is. BUT unfortunately I was meet with great disappointment. They boil the corn and then apply the mayo, pepper, and whatever sauce which slides off. This is not worth more than 1 dollar.
Had the Halsey Burrito with Carne Asada. It was absolutely delicious. The place looks and feels like a real Mexican restaurant. Service was excellent at the counter but I did notice they put several calls on hold so might not be the best for phone orders. Am definitely going back...but definitely in person!!!
This used to be my go to neighborhood spot, but they’ve raised their prices exponentially, and the service somehow went down with the price increase. $13 for a basic veggie burrito (Don Manuelito) that used to be $7.00. Halsey burrito used to be $8.50, now it’s $15!Here’s to hoping they get themselves back on track.
I called in to order 2 burritos, the guy didnt understand English well , when I went to pick up MY order the female cashier was very very rude and disrespectful I would never spend my money with this place ever again they ARE very unprofessional. ..CUSTOMER..SERVICE IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT The above review was posted 3 years ago ...now I went back on my word because Im hooked on fish tacos ...NOW ON NOVEMBER 16 2020 .... I ORDERED TWO FISH TACOS FROM THE CASHIER THE GUY CLEANING THE STAND USED HIS CLEANING HAND TO TAKE MY SOFT SHELL TOCAS ...I TOLD THE CASHIER I WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH WHAT HE DID IM I MUST SAY THIS DEFINITELY MY LAST TIME HERE ...I WENT BACK ON MY WORD 3 YEARS AGO
The host was very rude when I walked in I was conversing with a cook when he rudely disturbed my conversation and said that I couldn’t speak to the cooks. I felt so horrible I left. I would have spent a good amount of money but it really didnt matter he was rude had a big hole earring and he should not be the host.
Food was great. Service was terrible. The person who took my order for delivery was in a bad mood and kept cutting me off. I had it order to my store and the delivery person banged on the window to signal me and gave me 2$ short of my change then look at me as if i was supposed to tip after that. Somehow i still found the good in my heart giving a tip...
Edited this place is extremely disorganized! I ordered and they had me waiting for 30 minutes to get my food. Two people ordered after me and picked up food before me. When I asked about it the woman at the front rolled her eyes and said he thought it was a pick order. If thats the case they wouldnt be calling out names when orders came up to the window. In the 30 minutes I was waiting I saw them mess up a womans order twice. Unbelievable.
Wow! No joke , theee best Mexican restaurant in Broooooklyn. Care to say otherwise..gtfoh! Non of that new fusion style, culture vultured, gentrified overly priced trash , no, not Here! This is straight up authentic, home made comfort!! Service is always always top notch, the prices are right, the portions are more than generous. Will recommend and will return. Support Brown businesses!
Went in for the first time April 15th, I was pleasantly surprised. A guy there took my order, he has a Brooklyn tatt on his forearm. He was very nice. Thank you. So on to the food. Its very good!. Extremely satisfied. I plan on visiting this place many times. Been living in Bedstuy for years, so Im so happy this place is a new addition here.
Very poor service... Ive been a waiter, and so Im very clear when I order, and they completely messed up my order. In addition, it wasnt that busy, our dishes werent complex, and yet it took them forever to bring us the food.Ill definitely not go back, unless the management changes.
My mom took my daughter and I taste her food it was so good. So Im on my way or Ima see if they order. I lived in bed stuy all my life too. Halsey to be exact the same block as bed stuy fish fry I even go to the restaurant on the next corner Rib house since before ALLLLL or any restaurants or bars over there and I get exactly what Tony Award is saying. I love all people but right around gentrification. It dont matter if youre the owner manager you never say things like that i dont care how busy it is. I would have wild out. If they could wait that long for food, they can wait til you solve a customers problem bcuz believe it or not, black people love and they will be the ones telling how good your restaurant is SPREADING LOVE THE BROOKLYN WAY. Just dont have an attitude and be more humble Tony Award.
Two stars for the effort. It seemed like my body didnt like the meat (beef) they put in my fajitas that day. I ate it despite the fact that I didnt really like the smell of it (yes I do smell my food). Huge mistake. I tried but this place is not for me. Sorry Tepache.
I placed an order through Grubhub by the time I got my order and called them to say I was missing an item they had closed. I called the next day and I had to repeat what my problem was exactly 7 times and after putting me on hold a few times Edison said that nothing can be done on online orders that don’t get resolved the same day. I asked him what was I supposed to do if they were closed he put me on hold again and she came back repeated the same thing like a robot that nothing can be done. I asked to speak to the manager and he said the supervisor was not in, I asked if he would be in tomorrow and his response was a sarcastic “sure”. It’s unbelievable this kind of response when all I’m claiming is a $3 coke!!!
My experiece was bad because they profile clients based on thier apperance . They open a resturant in the middle of a Black neigborhood that some may consider hood, gheto or dangerous but it is a ghetto that is going through a gentrification . Now the implants who have relocated to this up and coming neighborhood are treated with the most respect and treated as if they are celebrities walking down the red carpet. Menawhile my self a native of this oh so poor and ghetto neighborhood wallks into this resturant to order some food and was treated like I was a piece of scum based on my apperance of me wearing big jeans and a hoodie. Im not a sensative person and I dont get offended easily. The manager then gets involved and she was very dry and cold and then I ask to speak to the owner and he comes and tell me to my face we are busy and I do not have time to deal with you Wowwwww what kind of service is this?? But
These Mexicans Got too be joking a chicken quesadilla cost $8.60 in the beginning off February in the middle it cost $13.00 plus $guy said o you know the price went up expecting guy too say couple off bucks told him thats price must be paid in pesos lol do or die bed stuy 400 block!

2022-03-23I dont even have enough time to really get into how this place was my comfort spot when I lived in Bed-stuy. Inside dining, outdoor dining, quick and yummy food. The taco salad is my go-to. Large portions that are consistently good.

2022-07-02What a great place. But I need to express my most sincere apologies to the restaurant management. We have a delivery at our house. I failed to communicate to my wife thatt the order was delivered. She thought it had not been delivered. She called the restaurant upset that our food was so late. I’m sure she said things she regret not realizing that our food had been delivered some time ago. The whole thing was my fault. Please have mercy on us. I was an honest mistake. We all at 667 Hancock st. Feel terrible. Please accept our apology….-David Schinman

2018-01-27Every block needs a Mexican food spot. Whenever you have the urge to get a burrito or some tacos, Tepache is always consistently serving up great good. The nachos were huge, it’s definitely best to share between at least 3 people. I tried the burrito and it was even great the second day. The fried fish tacos were super fresh. If I lived closer I would come in on the daily for some nachos and tacos!

2021-11-17Pretty good. Everyone is always super friendly and it’s a nice casual spot to dine in for lunch. The backyard is really nice in the summer. I’ve only ever ordered the burritos and they’re huge and satisfying. Need more salsa/hot sauce options.
