I am so impressed how well my rehab schedule is organized here. In a place I was previously it was always uncertain whether I will go to therapy in the morning or afternoon and whether it will take place at all. Here it is amazing - therapists work with me same time of the day, trying and encouraging me to do more. When I was leaving hospital Social Worker said this facility is known for it is excellent therapy and it is indeed so. Nurses aids assigned to me are just wonderful, helpful and friendly and cheerful, especially Ms. Pat.
Let me start by saying...PLEASE DO NOT LET OR ALLOW YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO GO TO THIS MEDICAL PRISON. This place is not good enough to take care of anyone. Its a horrible, terrible, disgusting, toxic place. I wish and hope they shut this place completely down. The staff, is very unprofessional, the food is nasty. I dont have not one nice thing to say about this place. They are the worst facility in NEW YORK CITY!!!!
How does the person doing the C19 testing disappears for hours and they have no one to replace them while out on break. Plus they have one schedule on the door yet, this person will go and come back whenever they chose. TCC need to provide coverage when the person doing the test is on break.
I was admitted to this establishment for rehab. But what i witnessed was unbelievably unacceptable. For this establishment is so short of staff it is impossible for them to take care of all patients in an orderly fashion. Example my roommate fell down from his bed. After the both of us press the bell and yelling for help there was no response. After my roommate peels himself from the floor it took almost 45 minutes for the nurses aid to arrive. He makes his complaint only for her to make a noise and shun him away. Certain nights I was in pain and no one would come to my aid. There is a male doctor on the fourth floor who was not the best to work with. There are a few on staff who were good. But overall my experience was horrible. I could hear people screaming in pain at night but no one would assist them. There was a man throwing up blood in his room for 30min before anyone noticed. I have heard constant complaints from the other patient who were unsatisfied about the living conditions of the environment. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO SEND A LOVE ONE
Admitted my grandma here. Reaching staff and nurses is almost impossible. Most of the people dont know what theyre doing and will just opt to transfer you elsewhere when you call - only some of the staff are knowledgeable.Multiple transfers to get to the right person. If you call the general number and select regular attendant, no one picks up.If you have options, pick elsewhere
Sept 13, 2021 - The Archdiocese of NY should be ashamed of themselves, the Administration and Customer Service is somewhat non-existant that family and friends of patients cannot call this institution to discuss important matters regarding the patients. Ive been involved with business for the past 50 years and Administration and Customer Service seemed to lack communication skills. The medical staff is great - very polite and friendly. Ive yet to meet with the upper management. they dont answer their phones and DONT return phone calls.Perhaps the inadequacy lies at the top with the Archdiocese?
My friend was admitted Dec 7 Rehab they knew he was coming to their facility but when got there he had to asked for linen for his bed and only got pillowcases no tolp sheet or blanket. He brought his OWN blankets. He is scheduled to receive medication at 10pm and at 7am he still hasnt received his NEEDED medication. I am trying to get him out of there. The STAFF IS LAZY AND DISRESPECTFUL NO BEDSIDE MANNERS!!!!
As the wife of a patient of this facility, I can honestly say True Heroes Walk those Hallways. My husband is doing remarkable things from the care and therapy he received from Terence Cardinal Cooke. I wish I would have known of this facility when he began needing therapy. He would be so much better than he is now. Thanks to them he is becoming more independent. I wish I could give more stars.
So far the experiences that we have had with this nursing home have been very bad you cannot get anyone to answer the phone and when you do they have an attitude everyone seems to be angry they cant help you with anything you call to get information they tell you they dont know these are the people that work there and they know nothing this is all I keep hearing I would never recommend this place to anyone God help them that one day they will need help I do hope they remember that they will also get old one day and they will hope someone will treat them with respect
My mother is a resident here & my friend who used to work at this facility was a nurse. All who read this I beg you be warned & stay clear of this place!! My mother was a resident prior to my friend working there but prior to her quitting she really sat me down and told me all that goes on in the place. I should’ve known since my mother was constantly complaining of the neglect. Thought it was because she wanted to leave but after talking to her and my friend I’m making arrangements to get her out ASAP! I’m considering possibly suing or reporting this facility to the state for them to conduct a thorough investigation. I’ve also been in touch with other families with similar experiences . Also I spoke to a Jamaican nurse on 1 hospital during the morning shift & she also told in private & she confirmed all the things my friend told me.I couldn’t believe the things I found but I’ll give you the inside scoop and here is how they operate and the following breaks down like this. There are 3 parts to the building the hospital the Annex and Cohen side. I know alot on all these sections but will leave out some details for Hipaa regulations so won’t include any info on actual patients. The least provided for is the Hospital side (especially the night shift) so if you have family there you should be most concerned especially since they are defenseless and no visitors are allowed at night. The Cohen & Annex don’t require as many people since they aren’t as heavy.1. Of the massively neglected portion of the building 4 Hospital is one of the floors with the most resources it looks nice & is usually well staffed during the day it is bustling with staff and even in the night they have no less than 3 or 4 nursing assistants and you’ll be saying that’s a good thing so why mention it? Because it is one of the few floors excluding the Huntington disease unit and a few other floors that is adequately staffed. You see floors where the residents are talkative, intelligent, alert and oriented and have frequent family and friends who visit are especially resourced because they want those good reviews and also these people can report to the state. However the long term care dementia units like 7 Hospital being a prime example are scarce in resources and the staff are spread unbearably thin. They are unfortunately put in very compromising positions and although I worry for the wellbeing of all the residents having little staff with little resources makes doing the job impossible. The management intentionally neglects these floors because most of the residents can’t speak up for themselves so they can save money there I’m sure they get some kind of bonus. The management is aware of the frequent falls that take place here the short staff usually comprising of 2 people taking care of a census of approx 40 people on an average basis yet they don’t care! The staff can’t realistically monitor people at all times especially around break time and given the setup it’s inevitable someone can get hurt or worst and the burdened staff can only deal with so many wanderers, combative patients and administer care at once. They can’t legally restrain patients so most of these patients are in harms way. But if anything happens the management won’t take responsibility. Rather throw the staff under the bus. Short staff makes it harder for workers to do their job but also puts our loved ones at risk and should anything happen the management will happily throw staff under the bus & cover themselves and tell you nothing2.Not all the people should be trusted with your loved ones because the administration doesn’t even trust their staff. They have to check the staff to make sure they aren’t stealing things from the facility. How can we trust individuals to care for our family members if the organization that hired them doesn’t even trust them & I’m not lying go to this place and see for yourself3. Dingey dirty, They allow sick patients with healthy ones & patients who yell all night with alert ones.
This place so horrible. My mother was there in 2015 and they said it was a back issue which clearly she needed surgery for and they kept doing physical therapy for it and it made it worst that now its been 3 years and she has been in a wheelchair. Everytime I went to visit my mother, which kind you I was pregnant at the time, the nurses would be nasty if I asked them for something for my mother. So since the place was bad, my mother left and stood home. Now 3 years later my mother is back there again, but for difference medical reasons which are more serious than before. She is not being given the medications that is needed and also she calls me everyday to tell me how badly they treat her. Like today she called me and stated how she has been having a lot of abdominal pain for 3 days and hasnt been able to eat due to the pain. The nurses and doctors refuse to send her to the hospital because they feel she doesnt need to go.I highly highly recommend that no one ever bring their love one or family member to this place. Because they will just abandoned your love one or family member and want to seem like the staff is doing stuff, but really are not. To me this is a place where the staff only works for the point of the paycheck, then for the care of the patient needs. I really hate this place and the only reason why my mother is back there again is because the hospital that referred her there just wanted to put her there after I told them not to. Due to her last bad experience that she had 3 years ago. Also nurses will take 2-3 hours to finally come to a patient, I would know because I have been there many times to witness it.So please take my advice from this review and also the other kind of patients that surround my mother are very Ill mental and physical wise. Are nasty and disrespectful and have no consideration to others privacy in the rooms they share. Thanks and I hope this review makes you think well before putting someone here for care.
This facilitys conditions are horrible. They neglect patients from day one. The room my friend was assigned to had broken furniture, window shade, dust caked in the vents, the bathroom was not cleaned. Staff never returns calls and are sarcastic when they do.They promised food in 20 minutes and food didnt arrive until 3 and half hours later. My friend is paralyzed on the left side and was left food on that side and left to feed herself. They put her in a wheelchair and left her unattended and she fell out and bumped her head. No one ever feeds or checks on my friend for hours at a time. Shes constantly soiled when I arrive. I had to call 911 because she was soiled and no one came to change her for 55 minutes when I started to yell. Pillows are torn, there are pills spit out by the patients in the sun room and I found that my friend had her medication stuck to her lips. Every doctor and therapist could not give a status on how my friends treatment was proceeding. My friend is regressing not progressing. She is humiliated, depressed a wishing that she dies. Shes deteriorating. I also over heard the staff say there are mice and they had only one person, a CN to cover all the patients on the 3rd floor on Saturday evening 10/26/19. The facility has retaliated and restricted my visitation to my friend of 20 years whom Ive been caretaker to for 12 years.
I was a patient there, having been sent there directly from the hospital for rehabilitation but it was a not a pleasant experience. For the more than two months I spent there, rooms were swept twice a week but never mopped until I complained in my one month of stay. Bathrooms and therapy facilities always filthy and if you complain you become an outcast and your life was at their Mercy. I pray never to set foot there ever again
My father was there for 3 plus months and I had so many problems. I am usually a calm and laid back person but was so frustrated with my fathers care, that I wanted to cry. One problem was getting getting a doctor to speak to me about my fathers treatment, in all the time, he was there no doctors ever spoke to me, even though I ask to speak to them on numerous occasions. I was always told to speak to the social worker. Another problem was that his room had lost heat for about a week in the middle of the winter, I asked them if he could be moved to another room because he was elderly and the cold caused him a lot of pain but we could not be accommodated. My father even signed a DNR but only did not want to be resuscitated at that location because he hated his treatment there and would rather be dead.
My mom finished her rehabilitation here at the center. this is her second time here. Everybody and everything was very very good - therapy - PT and OT, dietitian was working with mom to meet her wishes, nurses and nurses aids and Social Worker Charlene was the best! Always patient, taking all my calls, questions and requests calmly and making everything happen!
I am so amazed that after just a few days my fingers started to move so much better as a result of working with occupational therapist here at TCC!. She is skilled, compassionate and dedicated. I am happy and looking forward to getting completely back to the way I was before the stroke. Staff here makes me comfortable - from medical and nursing to all other workers. All are caring and willing to help at any time.
I spent a little over 2 weeks at Terrance Healthcare Center and was amazed at how well the management therapy was having such a big facility. No matter what needs I had they were treated as urgent by the nurses and aids. I hope that I do not have to go back to a re-hab facility again, but if I did, I would ask to go back to Terrence Cardinal Cook. The feeling of being safe and the management making sure that every patient is as important as the next made me feel very protected after such a serious surgery. EXCELLENT MANAGEMENT
My father was surrounded by warmest caring people during his 2 year long stay in the dementia unit on the 7th floor. Ms. Monique King was the nursing manager of the unit and frequently took my restless dad into her office to calm him down; and he was simply sitting there quietly and calmly watching her work. There were nurses and aides who were dancing with him when he was restless (he always liked dancing). And when he became sick, the staff took special care to keep him comfortable and clean. Overall, despite limited recourses that most of the nursing homes have, the staff showed amazing warmth and friendliness towards the most challenging patients. I work in healthcare industry and rarely saw such family-like attitude towards patients. And the most impressive care and professionalism were shown by the nurse practitioner that took care of my father - Bob White. He became not only the best defender of my dads wellbeing but also a reliable friend. Once again, rarely I have seen such care and dedication in a medical professional working with patients who have advanced dementia. I want to thank all my friends from the 7th floor for such a care until the very end of my dads journey on this earth. Thank you, you really made difference.
I have been receiving very good care for a year now as a patient of Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center. I met many people who went home after treatment and therapy who could not walk when they came here just like I did and were walking leaving this facility. All staff is very nice and attentive to me, I like this place very much.
From the start, I was impressed by the quality of the staff, which was attentive and kind. The clinical rehabilitation and occupational therapists were excellent, working with me to the best of my abilities. I quickly gained endurance and strength die to their efforts and dedication. The nursing staff was also outstanding, professional, and very helpful; in particular, Ms.Fordjour and Ms. Orocho. Thanks
I met so many really wonderful workers during my stay at this facility - nurses, nurses aids, physical therapists and housekeepers and dietary workers. They were warm and nice and helped me all the time with my needs. Not only on my floor - 4C but on 2H as well. I am going to miss them so much!
My Father is a patient at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center and is recuperating from surgery. I spoke with his care team last week and informed them that he had a doctors appointment scheduled for Mon 9/23. I was supposed to receive a phone call last week from someone in transportation to arrange for the trip, I never did. I called his Social Worker 2 times yesterday and never received a return call, I also called the nurse manager and never received a phone call. I finally texted his Social Worker to confirm that my Father was taken to his appointment and she replied back that she would check. While I was waiting to hear back from her the Doctors office called me to inform me that he had missed his appointment. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!! My Father is 85 years old and recuperating from an amputation! He needed to see his Doctor yesterday so that we could plan for his follow-up surgery.
Horrible experience dealing with the staff in regards to my grandmother. Completely unprofessional, inpatients are treated without care. Nurses have bad attitudes and dont want to do their job. Rooms are infested with roches, its completely unsanitary. You can never speak with a doctor on patient progress because they are never available apparently and the physical therapists are clueless and dont help to motivate the patient. And I find it very odd that there is not one Spanish translator available to assist Spanish speaking patients and to help translate to nurses, doctors, therapists, etc that only speak English.
It is incredible how good physical therapy is here at TCC. These therapists were awesome - all of them!!! So skilled, so professional... I would like to say medical and nursing staff - both nurses and nursing assistants were so professional, caring, ready to help always, I am very happy and impressed to have been in rehabilitation here.
My initial experience was positive. I toured the facility and though old was well maintained, cleaned and uplifting. Initial calls to admission were also positive. When it came time to move the patient to TCC, the facility asked us to remove the peritoneal catheter that had not yet been used, which we did. Then they denied the application. Why ask for the removal of the option for in home dialysis only to deny admission once the patient complied? The coordination between Mt Sinai in Queens and previously Lenox Hill in Manhattan was poorly executed. Hospitals pointed fingers at TCC and insurance. Insurance said hospitals didn’t do their job. The health care system cares little about health, care or the vulnerable patients unfortunate enough to need their help. As a Catholic I’m appalled at the lack of compassion and care we received from the woman in admissions. The talk is great. The walk does not exemplify the way of the lord or Jesus. Very sad
This nursing home is not built for people with special needs. The Day Nurse Aids are friendly and the nurse we had was nice. Cant say the same about the night. But I find it amazing that when a person has 6 bags with them none of the employees helped me. One person rode the elevator and asked if I needed help because she was going to get her belongings in the basement. She saw we were struggling but didnt care to help. Not even the men in the front lobby offerend to help. The social worker is very rough around the edges with how she speaks to people and makes people nervous. Over all this isnt reflecting all ArchCare locations but the location on 105th and 5th needs a lot of work elevators arent working the ones that do bounce like its hanging on a string. The front doors are almot impossible to open. I work in the health field and Im very dissaponted and livid with this establishment.
This posting is on behalf of Alexis Castillo - I would not recommend this place at all! The staff are not caring, there is no concern about a patient wellness, not enough staff to attend to patient needs, poor quality food. In other words this is not the best place to rehabilitate. Please do your research before sending a love one to this place. The only reason why I’m here and still here is because I needed therapy to be able to walk again and while in the hospital, for a long term, I lost the place where I used to live, so now I’m homeless. I’ll be out of here as soon as I find housing. Poor management and customers service!
The worst nursing home dont send your loves one here. had disagreement with the nurses and when you ask them a question they dont know nothing and when you ask to speak to a social worker they never around. my mom was there for almost a year until she fell ill and they her send to mount sinai hospital and that when i spoke to a social worker and they help me get another nursing close to home. there were times they didnt clean her wound on her foot i was very disappointed. Finally i got my mom out of there . my mom made a year that she pass away but she was at a good nursing home.
When I was leaving hospital after the surgery I was told I have 4 choices for rehabilitation facility- I told them - no, I have only one! It is Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center. This was my third time here within last 10 years. I am deeply grateful to physical therapists, my nurses and nurses aids. I think this place is number 1 in quality of care, dedication and compassion in whole New York!!
If you love your family member keep them out of this place. The staff is overwhelmed and they just dont care about the patients. My mothers was put in a room and the call bell did not work for 7 days. My mother and sister complained to the nurses and aides, but nothing was done. She fell one night next to her bed and was screaming for help for over 20 minutes. A man in the next room heard her and call the nurses station. She was not hurt, but instead of moving her to another room at that moment, she remained in the room for another 18 hours without a call be. TCC is very lucky nothing happened to my mother. No one ever answers the call bell at the nurses station. It may take them 20-30 minutes to respond to the patients, which is unacceptable. Ive worked in the healthcare field as a nurse for over 20 years and this place should be shutdown. I will be reporting all of my grievances to JACHO, Medicare and Medicaid. Hopefully, someone will look into this place.
I am here again for rehab - was a patient here previously with different health problems and now I am in therapy for my broken leg. My nurses and nurses assistants here on 4H are the nicest people. My therapist immediately gave me a special brace that made me feel better right away, I already can stand on my feet! I recommend this place highly.
If you have a loved one, dont let them get put in Terrance Cardinal Cooke for elderly rehab or nursing home care. They will be treated like cr*p, a disposable afterthought, if that. The place is horrible. I hope all these people who work with the patients have a loved one who experiences the same kind of care that they gave to my Mom. Which means that the 4-5 people out of dozens on staff who work with her will be treated with kindess, while the rest can get a taste of their apathetic medicine.
I am here in TCC for 22 years...I would not go to any other place - I love it here...They take good care of me all this years. My unit nurses and nurses aids work with me fine. I go to activities I like - was in music group called Bell Quire for 20 years, performing at parties for residents and for Christmas Tree opening ceremony...This is best place for me!
My mother had a stroke in this facility. When I asked the Nurse where they took her they couldnt figure it out. I then realized that the nearest hospital was Mt. Sinai. It was only when I mentioned the hospitals name that they remembered. I saw my mother at Mt. Sinais emergency room unattended and had the obvious signs of stroke(CVA). I had to talk to a doctor who was fiddling on her phone. She was clueless and denied knowledge about any endorsements from the Nursing Home. My mom passed away since. Im a Roman Catholic and this simply was a big blow to my faith. Shame on them. Their billing representative was fast to call and threatened me on the phone. I told her that my mother had a stroke at their facility, but she shouted I dont care! You still have to pay!
Came here from Mount Sinai hospital where I was so weak and out of breath and I now do serious work with all muscles in my body in physical and occupational therapy. Therapists create individualized exercises for just my particular situation. Nursing does great job, room is always clean.
Specialty Hospital of Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center provides care for my son for some times now. I cannot praise enough entire team starting with incredible medical care under direction of Dr. Vickey Deutsch and coordination of all aspects of care by LucyBell Agpawa. They lead dedicated team of nurses, therapists, etc. who day after day make sure my son and all other children receive best care and services possible. These workers all have big hearts and now I am able to have piece in my heart and when I leave here I know my sons well-being is in kind and competent hands.
I cant say anything but very good about this place. I had great therapists - Chiffon and Arni - god bless them. I am always helped by nurses on my floor - 3H, I go on trips with rec. therapist , just yesterday went to City Island to a super nice restaurant, yes...only very good things.
I wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy! The best part of this facility is the roof it provides from a rainy day and the discharge. If you love your family member please dont send them here. Its one of those places where everyones busy but nothing gets done. What a terrible experience my family had sending my aunt there. Unfortunately it was the only Dialysis onsite location in Manhattan. They steal everything from food to your belongings. One time I went to visit my aunt she hadnt been washed in over a day, her womb dressing hadnt been changed and I had to literally search for linen and gauze to change her bed and wombs myself. I asked for help and a staff member/nurse tells me Im busy, I cant help you after I asked her where to find the linen. They dropped my aunt 2 times reopening the womb on her leg from a recent surgery and their excuse was they didnt know she was an amputee. So, Again I beg you dont send your loved ones to this place!
It was a horrible experience. Had release papers for me but couldn’t get released. Keep those beds full. Horrible food. Ok nurses and aids, although I didn’t trust them. The elevators were always down. I wonder how they planned to get people out in an emergency oh say a fire. How this got voted top facility for 2020 I don’t know since it isn’t 2020. You could go nuts in there.
I am here at TCC for the 5th(!) time. I came here from Metropolitan Hospital where I said to them when they said I need to go to rehab center that I want to go only to Terence Cardinal Cooke. I like very much both rehab units - 4H and 4C. Both of them have very good nurses and nurses aids and physical therapists are just great.
I just quit my job here as a CNA due to lack of communication between staff. You are not able to say anything to the director of nursing(Jamaican) as i am, because she will speak down to you and then say her favorite thing do you know how rude you are being? Go get a delegate. This where she and her goons of nursing supervisors will come together in attempt to threaten your job. With the exception of three supervisors everyone is disgusting, unprofessional, and ill-mannered. As a worker here Ive lost a pregnancy, and have been assaulted over and over again where no logical action have been taken. If you work here nursing and scheduling staff will side with each other as they are not there for in a time of need.
I am an undergraduate on the pre-medical track from nearby Columbia University, and I have been gaining clinical experience at Terence Cardinal Cooke through the summer months. I feel fortunate to have been an intern here, learning from staff about skilled nursing care and speaking with residents. I am so impressed by the attention and love that the residents receive.
I receive such good care here on 3Hospital - all nurses and nurses aids who take care of me are nice and are friends. I love to go to church on Sundays - service is so wonderful, love my arts and crafts , gardening lady is so great, Lorelei in recreation is my own angel.
Terence cardinal Cooke is a joke of a rehabilitation center my brother was there Nov 18,2021 to Dec 29,2021 and we experienced the same horrible conditions the staff took they time or never showed up to clean him try to reach the social worker she never pickup or it goes to voice-mail they showed no love or concern for their patients.
I’ve been a patient here at TCC for six months. My experience with therapy and care is nothing but very very good and I have been a patient in four other facilities before TCC. I did not receive same kind of care and excellent Physical and Occupational therapy in any of those places. I highly reccommend TCC to anyone in need of rehabilitation.
I received excellent care here at Terence Cardinal Cooke - my physical therapy was very good and my occupational therapy with Rachel was fantastic! I am ready to go home with everything prepared for that and even though I did not ask Social Worker ordered extra safety device for me which I am taking home.
I am a patient in this facility and I would like to express my gratitude for excellent care that I am receiving daily. Everybody here is very nice and caring. The compassion, professionalism and patience of the stuff is remarkable. I would like to wish everybody a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
I want to thank staff of TCC where my wife is getting therapy and care - especially night nurse Maria and day nurse Dorothy Howard who are caring, professional and compassionate, C N A Barbara Bobb is attentive and always ready to help. I thank them and wish them and other staff of TCC happy holidays all the best in a new year.
Direct Care Staff (Drs. Nurses etc.) Are GREAT, however some facility policies and care plan mechanisms could stand review and ironing-out by the board of directors and middle management. Overall, TCC is a decent operation charged with the difficulties of a greatly varied and the sometimes chaotic lives and needs of its patients... We all have room for improvement. (BTW, I am a current 4 week, short-term, medical rehab patient at ArchCare TCC.)
I am so sorry I placed my grandmother in this place. She went in to rehab with a broken hip. She left in an ambulance to the ER with an intestinal infection that attacked her kidneys and her liver. This caused severe diarrhea, whatever enter into her system caused an infection in her rectum as well. (Tried to post photo but system will not allow its to grafficThe rehab crew are great but thats only and hour a day. The nurse on the forth floor (an older black woman with extensions who came to work sick swears like a sailor and ended up being hospitalized for three weeks, should quit or get a job that does not require human contact) to sum it up, before you take anyone here, make sure you dont love them dont care for them and you are willing to let them suffer and die.
Steph is incompetent and nasty and extremely uncaring. They make all sorts of empty promises about getting us to necessary appointments and mess up all the time. My experience was so outrageous that I wrote a letter to all my elected officials. I also sent a copy of this to the head of the Mt. Sinai Health system asking why they referred people to this place. I also sent this correspondence to Timothy Cardinal Dolan. He was on the Archcare website saying that Archcare, and archdiocesan organization, who is doing the work of the Lord. I dont think so. I also told him so in my letter. This play should be shut down.
I want to say how happy I am being here at TCC for almost two months because I get cared for by two excellent nurses - Carey during the day and Margaret at night who are ready to help me with anything at anytime I need. This two people are passionate about their job, I am very fortunate and grateful!
My son, weylin, has been a resident at tcc for 20 years, since he was 1 year old. he was born severely disabled and needs to be on a bi-pap machine to help him breathe. one of the very few locations in the country that offers 24 hour care for patients on bi-pap machines is tcc. the two floors that care for children and young adults that are severely disabled are called SPECIALTY UNITS. the rest of tcc, which takes up the entire block of 106st.and 5 th.ave.,is divided among a nursing home, aids unit, Huntingtons unit, dialysis, etc.. yes, nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement, but as far as I can tell, tcc is full of loving, caring people who try to do their best to help the less unfortunate. from the awesome nurses, hardworking c.n.as , security guards, housekeepers, administrators to the kitchen staff, engineering department and physical therapists. the social workers are amazing. again, there is always room for improvement but the intentions at tcc are good and the entire staff that has taken care of my child and others are very special people.
This facility left my grandfather underfed, attached to an empty oxygen tank for several hours, and wet from his own urine in bed for hours. He was not tended to proactively at all, with the staff even missing his medication times to top it all off. His room remained dirty as well, and he apparently was moved roughly by an orderly and hit his head. Management and staff should be ashamed of itself.
Being here for almost 4 years I can say nurses and nurses aids are friendly and nice to me - I have been on 3H and for the last couple of years and I am on 6H now. I like to go to holiday church services in auditorium, to go to parties and concerts, etc. I like my room very much.
Great place for those whose loved ones need special care. Very clean. Highly professional skilled staff within pleasant surroundings overlooking Central Park. I am so grateful that I was directed to TCC after my horrific experience at The Riverside. (Avoid The Riverside at all costs!) Below is a picture of BOARD GAME DAY in progress.
Historic hospital with fantastic arts and recreational therapy. At TCC they have choirs, visiting musicians, gardening, arts & crafts, and church services. I have performed there several times for patients, and last summer I went to the concert of one of the patient choirs at Saint Patricks Cathedral.
For the past 10 weeks I have had the pleasure of interning at Terence Cardinal Cooke as an undergraduate student of Columbia University on the pre-med track. The attentive and compassionate staff at TCC serve an incredibly diverse population, from individuals on the Huntingtons disease unit, the HIV units, the speciality hospital for neurologically impaired youth, to the beautifully renovated sub-acute unit. With a rich history as the original Flower 5th Ave Hospital, TCC continues to provide excellent care to its residents.
This place is the worst short or long care facility that I have ever experienced. Who ever says otherwise is because they work here. I wish that before anyone brings a family member to this place should take a tour of this place. I am currently in this place and I am currently awaiting to get discharged
My bad two stars was an accident. Ive never been here. My father is here for years now. Today I found this number so I called the man that answered phone told me it was a nursing home (cause I asked for my father). The man that answered the phone was very polite. Told me my father was on the 8th floor gave me the number. I called for over an hour - stopped. Them tried a few hours later (for about 20 mintues) finally called the other number (the one I called first)Same man answered I explained to him what was going on. He called no one answered so he told me give him five minutes to call back (8th floor). Needles to say it took 20 minutes for someone to answer and was kinda rude when they answered. My father has no phone in room and she tells me He cant use our phones Ok Im a CNA I work in a nursing home when a family member calls and wants to speak to their loved ones we get them to the phone.....We shall see if he gets the message.... Rant over
I’m only giving it two stars because the nursing supervisor and administration was very cooperative but this place feels like a psych ward. I can go on and about how it feels like a psych ward from yelling patients to people wanting to fight in the hallway but it’s way too much to tell! Don’t bring your family here
Here at TCC where I visit my dear friend for a they now they have amazing physical and occupational therapy, caring and professional staff that is attentive to patients and families and responsive involved management. I am so glad my friend was sent here and not to some other place!
THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN EVER SEND ANY HUMAN BEING TO..THE NEGLECT IS BEYOND ANYTHING..MY MOTHER IN LAW IS BED RIDDEN AND THE NURSES LEAVE HER SITTING IN HER OWN URINE..THANK GOD WE ARE THERE MOST OF THE TIME TO MONITOR HER. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW PLACE TO MOVE HER TO..
I TRULY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PLACE IS STILL IN BUSINESS!!! IT IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!! THE STAFF IS DISRESPECTFUL,RUDE AND DO NOT HAVE ANY REMORSE OR CARE FOR THEIR PATIENTS. THE FACILITY IS OLD AND OUT OF DATE. THE BATHROOMS ARE FILTHY AND THE ROOMS ARE DISGUSTING. MY FATHER HAS BEEN IN TCC SINCE NOVEMBER 2013 AND HIS HEALTH HAS GOTTEN TREMENDOUSLY WORST!!!! THEY CONTINUE TO SEND HIM BACK AND FORTH TO MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL WHERE THEY ARE JUST AS WORST AS TCC. I AM TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING THAT I CAN TO GET MY FATHER OUT OF THIS PLACE BECAUSE I REFUSE TO LET TCC KILL MY POPZ!!

2022-03-04It is a very depressing place. The first room they took me to was like a basement dungeon. They took off my gown for a body inspection, and the ladies were fine, but I was left naked with no instructions of what’s next.A Ms Sanchez Heard- my discontent, agreed and was kind enough to get me to another room. Many of The staff overall in my experience are short tempered with a bad attitude. I will say one of the male RN or PCA named Joseph was very kind and attentive. If you love your seniors and handicapped please find another facility to put them in…PLEASE! I will add, the ambiance workers who dropped me off here said as we drew closer, “Oh, now I know where we are…”Before the ladies left me they wished me good luck and said, “Sorry, this is one of the worst ones in the city.”The head of the nurses came to my room in the morning and asked how I was doing. “Not very weiß.” Was my reply. She assured me that she expects the best from her nurses and said she would talk to her staff about my complaints. She seemed very sincere.

2022-04-22This place is hell. Theyre critically understaffed, staff is mediocre, food is worse, theres nothing to do, you get the picture. The residents - called inmates by some staff members - engage in a lively black market of cigarettes, drugs, liquor and what have you; and why wouldnt they, given the admitted practice by said staff of holding them long after recommended discharge.Long story short: this is not a health center; its a black hole dedicated to sucking up insurance dollars with as little effort as insurance, Medicare and Medicaid will tolerate. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.Update three weeks later: I am still no closer to discharge, not does the staff seem all too interested in letting me go home - or even out the door with a friend - who travelled twice from Brooklyn to comply with their requirements.Yesterday, I was assured by the social worker I would have a day pass to take care of basic necessities they do not provide, such as a haircut. I have not had one in three months. The charge nurse, some dude from Africa, denied the pass on some pretextual grounds I was not made aware of previously. And for all this - the mediocre medical care, inattentive, unprofessional staff, spoiled food and lack of any recreational opportunities worth the name - my insurance is being billed over $1,400 a day.Ive finally hired a lawyer, because their own ineptitude and lack of trained staff aside, I should be at home.Do not come to this place. My story is actually better than most.

2022-09-11Please do not place your loved ones here. My cousin is in this facility. He started having a wound because the Nurses will not charge his soiled diapers. He has asked for SW or Facility Rep to help with issues. That has mot happened. Awful facility. Calling the state on them

2022-08-25Had to deal with disgusting attitudes from an administrator and security guard I was only there for four days. If there is a misunderstanding you dont raise your voice at workers especially an orientee. The professional thing to do is pull the employee aside. I was embarrassed in front of other CNAS. Higher up tell us we represent Terence Cardinal but forget they do as well. I worked in two other nursing homes and was never spoken to like I was here.

2022-03-18As Bette Davis would say, what a dump!!! My bandage is supposed to be changed every other day.....its been five days (they last changed it on Monday, its now Friday) I shouldnt have to tell them it hasnt been done, they should keep track and know. I need pain meds, and I guess because Im on methadone maintanance they feel Im drug seeking so they told me that they dont give pain meds....I have never seen such a level of incompetence in my life. Also, there are mice running around the floor at night. There shouldnt be mice here day or night. I just cant believe that this place is still operating and that the state hasnt investigated here yet...if I have my way, they will...very soon. If you love your family member and you find out theyre here, pull them out as soon as possible.they count on the patients being either unable to talk or tell how theyve been treated. If they could, this place would have been shut down long ago.

2022-04-13Terrible service. Careless people take care of the elderly. They eat what ever is dropped off to our loved ones. Not even the bottle of water that was sent was given to the patient. But it’s understandable when asking for extra water for someone who ran out is even an issue.

2021-09-22I was admitted for a month. It was horrible. I saw the social worker & doctor once maybe twice. No matter how often I asked to see them. They have too many patients & not enough workers. They change patients diapers & wash them every 7-10 hours. Its terrible because they dont answer when called.I do not recommend this place to anyone.

2021-09-20This is a horrible place to have your loved ones go to. When my brother was placed there, he arrived to a filthy room where nothing had been cleaned. A clean towel was placed in a dirty drawer. I cleaned his area so that I can place his belongings in a clean place. The nurses and staff are nasty and rude. They do not care to check in on your loved ones. They appear in the room when there is a shift change.

2022-05-04Nobody covers the lunch period for doing the covid-19 test before entering to the center, we needed to wait until that only person comes back; and no one told us about this rule when we called for the visit arrangement.

2021-09-30This place is an absolute nightmare. The immobile elderly are left to fend for themselves. Hours and hours to get their diapers changed resulting in rashes. Cold food and no help warming up food we bring them from home. If you complain you get attitude. The staff is very disorganized and inefficient. DO NOT bring your loved one’s here. You would be leaving them to die. I would not put my worst enemy here.
