Im very happy with the installation of our oil to gas conversion. Matt was extremely diligent in making sure everything was working properly, stayed late, and returned the next day promptly after the installation to resolve a minor issue he identified. Took pride and ownership of his work. I was impressed and would recommend these guys to anyone. The sales experience with Brendan was a good one too. He explained everything thoroughly and made a number of sensible recommendations. No high pressure sales tactics. Accessible and responsive.
The team was professional and responsive. They managed to remove a huge nearly 100 year old furnace from our home, install a new furnace, and clean up all in about 5 hours. When we had an issue after, my email was responded to quickly and a technician came first thing the next morning to resolve the issue.I’d highly recommend this company!

I was very pleased with their work when they serviced my hot air furnace years ago. So it was a easy decision to go with them again for my AC and heating upgrade. Chris, Marie, Sergio, Andre, Girbon, Michael and the rest of the team were extremely courteous and professional. The installation was seamless and was quickly done within a day. They took care of filing all the necessary paperworkpermits and kept me in the loop throughout the process. I would definitely use them again for future maintenance and upgrades. Even if its not related to a recent installation or project.I highly recommend this company for your HVAC needs.
Last year our central air system went down and were having horrible summer, we ended up calling lots of vendors to come give us quotes. We were pleasantly surprised when one of the owners Chris came himself to evaluate our issues and guiding us on what system we should replace it with. Hence we decided to go with them and we were glad we did. The installer and customer service were beyond friendly and Uber professional. Highly recommended.
TF O’Brien is amazing to work with because their service is professional, friendly, and seamless from start to finish. We wanted a second zone installed in our attic, which we knew would be a costly and invasive job. Brendan Sihler (who handles sales and is overall awesome) was on time for our consult, thorough, and patient in answering all our questions and concerns from pricing options and understanding how the system would work to transparent questions about how messy the job would be. He was also great about correspondence for further questions and helped us find a pricing package that matched our needs with our budget. When Andre and his team came to do the work, they were on time every day, very friendly, tolerant of our very barky dog (ha), and extremely clean and conscientious considering how invasive the job was. I had proactively covered all of our upstairs bedroom furniture with plastic sheeting so as not to get dust and plaster all over them, but the guys still did an extra layer, covering everything from the doorway to the stairs and cleaned up at the end of each day. We’ve had other contractors in our home to do other jobs, and no one else was as neat as they were. It really was such a great help not having to do major clean up at the end of each day and they even finished ahead of schedule. The work itself was neat and seamless as if the system and all the vents and the return had always been there. We are very pleased and are glad we chose to work with them. Would recommend them to everyone hands down.
T F OBrien also installed a new water heater. These are difficult times to trust your home to website reviews...Trust TF OBrien. They not only did a professional installation but diagnosed and repaired work I had previously done that was not properly installed by other contractors. The culture of this company is to do a good job and it is reflected in all of their employees.
To our suprprise the company utilized sub-contractors, not employees directly involved with contracted company. Except for one individual, the installers seemed not to speak english-though for the most part they seemed to basically understand what they were doing. The sub contractors were not very familiar with the brand of system they were installing and were on the phone repeatedly with a third party to clarify aspects of the installation. That said, the installation of two heating/AC units was completed competently and has worked satisfactorly for the past three months. The sub-contractor installers rushed to complete by the end of the second day- and tools and clutter were left in the attic space which required a telephone call and a follow up service call to satisfactorily restore.

Met with several contractors for a ductless AC installation. TFObrien was the most professional, most responsive, and informative out of all of them. Just felt the most comfortable with them. Very happy with the new unit and highly recommend them for their professionalism, knowledge, and experience.

My brother was impressed by their local advertisement. So I called. From the first person to the last person I communicated with, in the company, were kind & warm. Let’s not forget about their expertise & responsiveness. They explained my choices, the cost & the process in a manner I understood without dimming down the info. We ultimately chose to install two new heating units. I would definitely recommend this company!
From the start to the end it was great & pleasant experience. Chris came down to our place and carefully listened to our needs & answered all our questions. Service co-ordinator (Marie) was very helpful to schedule and pre-ups with constant follow-ups and timely responses.On the day of installation, the team walked us through the installation steps and plan related to placements of the units. They were so patient to listen to our questions, answered them and also executed the installation in a very professional manner with very minimal impact on the property. During the work they were thoughtful of our property & our privacy. They cleaned up nicely after work. After the installation, the support engg walked us through usage and maintenance steps & again asnwered all our questions. Even though our implementation needed 3 days, they were able to complete in 2 days.The Inspector from county complemented that it was executed perfectly & safely (both electrical work and unit installation). I am glad that we have choosen T.F. OBrien & Co. for our ductless aircondition installation. I strongly recommend them.Thank you T.F. OBrien. T.F. O’Brien is the only company I will deal with! They have extremely professional and friendly staff and technicians, respond as quickly as possible when you have a problem, and solve your heating and AC issues thoroughly. They are a pleasure to deal with!
Got 2 units installed last february-used salesman chris oak from the company. was told we would get PSEG rebate for almost $1000 after installation. Followed up with company 3 times for them to send application in, and followed up with Chris post install, who was of no help, because he already got his sale. Company kept telling me it would take MONTHS to send in application for rebate. Finally we followed up with them again a few days ago and magically PSEG received the application. Once speaking to a top rep at PSEG she informed us that they should have been alerted by tf obrien before the unit even got installed that there were units going in so that they could get pictures of said unit, receive invoicing of said unit and start the application process then and there...not 9 months later as tf obrien made us wait. When following up with the salesman Chris Oak, he refused to give me the email to the woman who deals with the application and was not helpful at all. From my personal experience, I would not use them. Another large company that only cares before they get your money, does no follow up after they get your money, and tells you no truthful information at any point. 12,000 of our hard earned money went to crooks. Thanks for nothing.
T. F. OBrien has serviced my central A/C system for approximately 10 years now. Their technicians are top notch, pleasant & informative. I recently needed to replace my central A/C system & their team was exemplary! Their salesperson Chris was extremely accommodating of my schedule and informative. Their installation team came exactly as scheduled, were polite, knowledgeable and respectful of my home. Great experience!
I am never at a loss for words, but its hard to describe the work that T.F. OBrien did at our home. within one day we went from having a boiler from the nineteen sixties to having state of the art equipment, hot water heater and boiler installed.The crew was extremely professional, and courteous.Having Tom one of the owners stopping by our home to make sure everything went smooth was a pleasure. I hired TF O’Brien for an oil to gas conversion a few months ago and it was a stress free process. Chris came to my home and explained what would be involved in the conversion and a timeline. I was very happy to hear there was little legwork on my end and they took care of everything with the town and National Grid. Once national grid did there part, the O’Brien team called me to set up an installation date and everything went very smoothly. It took 2 1/2 days for completion and they left everything clean as before. Jerson and Josh were very helpful in keeping me updated during the installation process as well as how to use the burner and hot water heater. 100% would recommend and use again!

I had a very good experience dealing with Casey at the office even though very busy this morning he was able to get a tech to my house to diagnose a problem with my mini split system,which was great because it was cold outside and the heat was not working. Nick the tech called and said he was about a half an hour away and was punctual to the estimated time of arrival,as well as being very informative. Great first time experience with this company. Tech was awesome as well, got some heat. Great job guys would recommend this outfit so far from this experience. Lets see how the estimate goes and follow up visit for more work to be done, so far so good! Well be in touch with further information after the issues I have are resolved.
From the owner Chris to each of the technicians that did my full A/C replacement, they were wonderful. they took the time to talk through all the alternatives for me and when they did all the work they were extremely professional and friendly. 2nd floor furnace wasnt working, I called T.F. OBrien and they came the same day. My parts were still covered since they did the install 8 years ago so all I had to pay was the labor to have 2 motors replace; which save a lot of $$$. Their staff and technicians are always kind and explain everything that is going on. Always quality work.
Salesman Chris was very helpful through the whole process. He knows his products and is very easy going. We had two techs, Jerson and Matthew D.Both of them worked hard all day for two days installing two units in our home. I was very impressed with the quality of their work. I would recommend them and T F OBrien to family and friends.

T. F. O’Brien installed my air conditioner, and I have an annual maintenance contract with them, so I get at least bi-annual visits from their technicians. I have found them to be prompt, courteous, and service-oriented. The technicians explain any problems in layman’s terms. Their front office staff is a real pleasure to deal with. I recommend them unequivocally!
T.F. OBRIEN installed my boiler 5 years ago and has been servicing it since. On New Years Eve my boiler stopped working, technician (Dan) was at my house on New Years Day to figure out the problem. Dan was patient, thorough and explained exactly what was happening,recommended that I get the chimney cleaned since the safety feature on the boiler shut off the system as a precaution. I was able to get the chimney cleaned the next day and Dan returned to fire up my boiler. He made certain the thermostat was wired correctly and flushed the system and got the boiler working again! AWESOME JOB DAN, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. My Toddler and I cant thank you enough!!! Will definitely continue to use services from T.F. OBrien.

After 33 years my central air conditioner was on its last legs. My main concern for replacement was having a company that I could depend on. I often saw the T.F. O’Brien vans in the neighborhood. So it was the neighborhood that recommended them. It was an excellent experience.First, and extremely important, all members of the company maintained Covid19 safety protocols. My wife and I felt safe. Working within a tight area to retro fit a new system, I found the installation team to be highly competent, knowledgeable, neat clean and diligent. The company salesperson recommended a Daikin air system. I was not familiar with the brand but I was assured that with a 12 year warranty I would be getting an excellent system. They were right. I found the Daikin system to be quieter, more powerful and more energy efficient, even through a few consecutive weeks of heat waves. After the install the T.F. O’Brien Company followed up to make sure I was satisfied.Yes, I highly recommend this company. They deliver. They have the product and they have the technicians .
What a fabulous experience. The phone receptionist was so friendly and helpful. She even orchestrated an appointment sooner than we originally expected.Ronald T. was absolutely the best. He diagnosed the problem right away (a relay in an electrical box of our central A/C system), had the replacement part in the truck, and finished his work quickly and efficiently. He was also very informative and patient with questions we had.Bottom line -- T.F. OBrien is a top notch company and deserves my highest possible recommendation.

I met with Brandon for the initial consultation. He was knowledgeable and personable. We hired TF O’Brien to replace our high efficiency gas boiler. Their fees were competetive. They completed the job in a day. We had an issue with the hot water following the replacement. When we called, they were responsive and came the next day and resolved the issue. I did not meet the install crew but my communications and interaction with the rest of the TF O’Brien team were all positive. Highly recommend!

Ive been a customer for several years and recently hired them to replace an ancient steam boiler & hot water heater. TFOB has always provided white glove service without being asked. They have smart, courteous techs who know their business and always clean up afterwards. When calling in, the office staff bends over backwards to accommodate you. And they have gone out of their way to address any concerns I may have had. You rarely see this level of service and commitment to excellence. TFOB seem to take this commitment very seriously. Ive already recommended TFOB to my neighbors who are planning to get some work done.
Posted April 2020.We had a great experience with installation and the company was communicative. Even customer service has been great, but we are now almost 1.5 years into our warranty and finding issue after issue but getting push back to get these looked at and remediated. Approximately 5 months after installation, we had Freon issues. It was noted there might be a leak and we should see how it was in the next few months. During the winter maintenance, the technician also noted a potential leak and that we should get it looked at in the spring. Come spring for our maintenance and the technician noted no real issues but told us to schedule a leak check during the off peak. Two weeks to the day after that maintenance, one of our machines back up and spills water into our room at 12am. We open up the machine and it is filled with water, and no water is leaving the unit. A technician comes and tries to fix the issue, and it looks like there might’ve been an issue with the pipes during installation. I ask him to note all of these issues down and to have someone call me. This was Saturday. By Thursday I get no call back, and we are also noticing the unit staying moist even hours after we have shut the unit off - now we will have to deal with potential mold issues. I call customer service AGAIN and I get a “I will discuss with my supervisors and get back to you”. Seems like any kind of potential large job they keep pushing back on, until you are out of warranty, and then charge you for it? This is what it’s starting to feel like. Very displeased with the service after spending 17K on this system.Update September 2020.It was a frustrating experience, but TF OBrien finally came out and did a full system check and revealed an issue with the main condenser, which had to be put in for warranty with the manufacturer. All in all, we were able to get a new unit and fully installed within a week or so. The guys that came to do the condenser switch were GREAT. Wish we had them at the initial install. They are a third party that usually do these “tougher” jobs, as he described to me. He fixed some initial install issues we had and even commented that he would’ve done X Y Z instead of how our system was installed.I am updating my review to 3.5 stars due to the initial frustrating experiences and subsequent urgency to fix my issues after they saw my review. Pleased with initial install and communication but frustrating experience afterwards, but hopefully that is a one-off and not the norm for others.
What a great company! If you want honesty and great workmanship this is the company to work with. Communication was outstanding. Installation crew were the most professional you can ever get.*New* Used TF OBrien again in January 2018 and was so happy with their help through a very difficult time as my heating system was damaged by zero degree weather. Ray was especially helpful as his knowledge and professionalism was extraordinary. Ray did an excellent job and was excellent at paying attention to detail. Even though I had to wait for part from the manufacturer, TF OBrien spent the time and were able to have the manufacturer honor the warranty. (despite the fact that TF OBrien did not install this unit that is only three years old). They saved me money and it is much appreciated. Don who works in the office (never met) was excellent in communicating with me as far as where I was at getting my parts expedited. (not something he had to do!) TF OBrien offered me space heaters if I wanted as I had to wait a few days with no heat in very very cold conditions. The best of the best. Had chance to work with Chris this month (January 2019) and found him to be very professional and polite. He was able to resolve my issue.

Been using TF O’Brien for the past 10 years. They’ve been our go to people for our hot water heater & HVAC systems. You can always depend on their honesty and professionalism! The latest experience was with the replacement of our HVAC system damaged by the storm in March. Our HOA’s Insurance took over five months still was not able to get the units fixed! In August, he insurance company finally gave up and told us to hire our own people and would credit us the expenses. Called Chris that Thursday afternoon, the following day he sent the technician to come to the house and gave us the estimate that same day! Took care of the paperwork over the email & order the 2 ton & 3 ton units! Had both system installed, inspected, up & running within 3 days! Give them a call if you ever need your home Heating, Ventilation, Central Air systems!

Anthony provided service on the first call since my c/a/c system was installed in in March 2012. I called because there was a persistent noise from the return. Anthony explained what the problem was and promptly fixed it. I also asked to have two additional vents installed, which he did on the same day. He also checked my attic fan. He was extremely knowledgeable about the equipment and performed his job thoroughly and efficiently. He took the time to explain the problem to me and also described the work that he was going to do before he began. He was friendly, extremely polite, and professional. He thoroughly cleaned the area in which he was working and was very careful to not cause any damage. Another great job by TF OBrien; I cannot recommend them highly enough. Anthony was a pleasure to work with and I hope to have him come if I ever need my air conditioning system serviced in the future. This young man is an asset to the company.
Always very happy with service offered by TF O’Brien. They’ve always gone out of their way. This past summer during a heat wave, when we needed a new central AC unit, TF O’Brien put in temporary units for our windows until the new ones were installed. I’d highly recommend them. Also, always a great experience when dealing with Casey over the phone-always friendly and eager to help in best way he can.

Ronald, the tech, called to let us know he was on the way, showing up on schedule. Very polite and professional, he was efficient in getting the annual checkup done of my gas boiler and water heater done quickly, and cleaned up after himself. After he completed the work, he went through what he did and answered all my questions with out making me feel like I was rushing him. This was part of a maintenance contract that I have with T.F O’Brien that includes an annual service check. There was no pressure to do unneeded work. I would definitely recommend Ronald and T.F. O’Brien for HVAC work!
I am very happy with the work that I had done today by Anthony. He is such a pleasant young man. He fixed the boiler and its running like new. He gave me pictures of the problem and then explained what I needed to do for further maintenance to avoid a repeat problem. He was on time, worked quickly and stayed until the job was done. Paul arrived at my home after he called to verify that I was at home. His demeanor was great. He was both friendly and knowledgeable . He did a thorough job of servicing my air conditioner unit. He took his time and did not rush through the job.He does an excellent job of representing your company. I will ask for him next year. He also seems to really enjoy his work and strives to do an exemplary job.
Jimmy provided service on our high efficiency boiler. He was very courteous and professional. We needed a replacement part and he quickly checked, picked up the part and installed all within a timely manner. Part of the service was cleaning out the water filtration system. He rinsed the part in the sink and then he rinsed the sink -- making sure there was no debris left over. I very impressed by this - because how many guys would have just left the mess in the sink. Overall, I was very impressed by Jimmy and look forward to having him service our AC in the spring.

I had Chris come by my house today. He could not have been more professional. Its my first home and my wife is pregnant with a baby on the way so we want to make sure our home is sufficiently cool in these coming summer months. Chris explained to us very clearly what he was going to do and walked us through various options and costs and answered all of our questions without being pushy and trying for force something on us. Would definitely recommend.

When I first called T.F. OBrien and spoke with Brendan (salesman) I knew I was in good hands. He came to my home and answered all my questions and gave me different options for a new heating system to make my home as comfortable as possible. I signed on with T.F OBrien right away and Im so happy I did !!!The installers were truly efficient ,professional and very respectful of my home. They walked into my home introduced themselves and immediately covered my new wood floors with drop clothes and got right to work.The lead technician was Félix along with the other installers Dillon and Josh. Literally the best service for our heating system. We purchased our home with a Buderus heating system and have faced so many barriers to servicing our wall mounted boiler. TF O’Brien’s plumber, Andre was outstanding. He was so knowledgeable, kind and addressed the concerns quickly and more importantly efficiently.Super pleased with TF O’Brien.
The best company I have ever had in nyc. Very honest. Top notch. The owner arrived in time manor. He came to my basement spent 30’ looking around and explained where the smell came from. What I needed to get it done. He even recommended few other companies that are closer if I wanted to shop around Incase he cannot do it sooner. We wanted to pay for his time but he refused to take. We finally hired one of the companies he recommended. They fixed the furnace no more smelly like smoke in the past 5 years (We had atomic and other companies in the past they spent 4 to 5 h didn’t fix the smell )

I called TF O’Brien to diagnose an issue with my ductless A/C unit. They’re listed as an elite customer support company for my A/C. I was having an issue with the unit and I felt the original installer wasn’t competent. The technician , Romon, arrived on time and was quite thorough. Called late in the day on a Friday, was informed to expect a service technician in an hour. To my surprise and delight, Nick showed up, diagnosed my burner issue as nothing more than a gas switch misalignment. He then checked all 3 thermostats to make sure it was operating well. Problem solved in 10 mins. I was then offerred peace of mind contract at just a little bit more over the flat charge for the service. Awesome! TF OBrien, a name you can trust, I recommend them.Update - late November 2020; Dan arrived on time. Proceeded to check my boiler and furnace. Pointed out potential issues that needed attention and completed the maintenance work to get these appliances for the winter. Went over the specifics including pricing and educated me on the finer points of how these appliances work and the technical ranges to predict the performance. Showed me a comparison of the performance indicators from prior year and what those meant. Very professional. When the going gets tough the tough gets going. TF OBrian the tough guys when in comes to your cooling and heating needs.
As always T.F. OBrien was there to help me figure out what the best course of action for me, involving the repair of my ductless air conditioning unit. And their technician Paul involved me all through the decision process. Paul was responsive and answered all of my questions, allowing me to make an informed decision. He explained the entire repair process to me, explaining what he needed to do and what was required to maintain the unit in proper working condition. I just had a technician over for yearly maintenance of my heating system. Roy was courteous to deal with and he was very thorough in checking over the system. I recently had T.F. OBrien install a 3 zone Daikin mini split and I could not be more pleased with the service provided. The installation required a day and a half of work and the installers treated my home like it was their own. The office staff were also very helpful starting with the initial visit, setting up appointments, obtaining permits, financing and a follow up quality assurance inspection. If you are thinking of going with ductless a/c I would definitely put T.F. OBrien on your short list.
Follow up..Shout out to TF Obrien heating and cooling New Hyde Park. My new Central Air compressor that TF Obrien installed is quiet but the compressor produces a buzz vibration. Not loud at all. With the unit necessarily on the balcony that vibration traveled down the wall to the bedrooms right below down to the ground floor. The building is modern frame construction and some of the framing is aluminum studs. I called them to see what they can do. After inspecting the unit they sent 2 technicians who had to uninstall the lines to raise it up on vibration dampners. They were there over four hours. What did they charge me? NOTHING, despite the problem really related to building construction not any defect in the unit or installation. (I had to get this narrow unit because it had to fit through my narrow balcony door). It worked.First needed them with a no heat situation in December. Very responsive. Then contacted them to upgrade the AC system. Used them several years ago for a Hot Water heater at another location. You get what you pay for..

Not only old heater had to be broken up to pieces, because stairwell to the basement is ver narrow, and replaced by the new one the team had to remove and reinstall my existing water tank because it was blocking the way.Everything was done in one day! My only concern was that this unit was never installed properly from the get go, and that annoys me I could not use this in the summer or the winter apparently it lacked freeon, I had complained to my contractor who recommended TF OBrien right from the get go, for some reason I did not complain to TF until a few days ago, was told unit was still under warranty and they would send someone to check it out, I am a senior citizen and was quite taken back when I was told the cost of this visit, the serviceman was quite nice to explain the need to have a contract, which I did purchase
T.F. OBrien installed a central air conditioning system at my home less than 2 months ago. We went for the high end system (over $20K) and treated the workers well (tips and lunch), everything we could do to be good customers.Unfortunately, T. F. OBrien has not treated us in the same manner. The system has broken SIX times since it was put in! They were supposed to come today to fix this NEW system for the SIXTH time and gave me a window of 10-2. I had to cancel meetings in order to be available and have been waiting since 10 am. It is now almost 5:30 and still no service.

OBrien because of the time it took to respond. I have a contract and expected that I would get prompt service. However, the promised early Monday morning turned into late afternoon, which caused some problems with work. Also, I was charged for the visit although the heating unit had not been serviced as per the contract and visit should have been a free service.Anthony deserves five stars.

I gave it 4 stars because only part of the problem was fixed at the time they(Ray) came. He fixed what he thought was the problem. They called me right back and after discussing the problem with them, they suggested that I call SEARS because the unit was still under warranty. I will DEFINITELY use them in the future ( which I plan to do when I am ready to have a WiFi thermostat installed, that Ray recommended) and after my warranty from SEARS expires. Their customer service is impeccable! I would definitely recommend them to anyone.Update: Updated to 5 stars! Carlos came and took the time to listen to me about what the problem was and what I figured was the problem. He took the time to look at the manual that came with unit and found a way to fix the problem. It’s a long story but the problem is solved!
My experience with T.F. OBrien was excellent. My furnace broke during the coldest week of the year. They supplied me with electric heaters until my repair could take place. Jose, Malik and Chris were outstanding. Chris explained everything to me so I would understand what needed to be done. Jose and Malik also were great. They made sure my new furnace was working properly. They kept the work area clean and were very courteous.
DO NOT USE them for any services!!! DO NOT!!!1-They have no customer service skills. When you try to make an appointment the receptionist, Sandy has a nasty attitude .2-They charge you $140 to come to your house!!! They can fix absolutely nothing and will still charge you this amount . Most companies do free estimates and will not charge you to come to take a look at the problem.3-They will replace your thermostat when it doesnt even need replacing!!! They give you a $50 thermostat but charge you $179 for it!!! ABSOLUTE THIEVES!!!4- They try to sell you their stupid service contract so you dont have to pay their ridiculously over priced service charges!!!5- The office manager will say he will look into an issue that you have with their dissatisfied service and NEVER call you back -- wow thats awesome customer service and satisfaction ! DO NOT USE them!!!!

Tech from T. F. OBRIEN, PAUL S., confirmed my appointment, arrived on time, went right to work and along the way kept me apprised of his progress and provided a complete status update on the results of his work. He was professional and courteous. I highly recommend him and this local company.
Positive: We were given the same day appointment, and the problem was solved.Negative: We had to wait two weeks to correct the problem on the third visit. I had to call to reschedule the second visit. I was disappointed that on the first visit the technician didn’t occur to run the heat coil to melt the evaporator and fix the problem the same day. I was disappointed they didn’t first check the leak in the service valve and spent time looking in other areas. I was disappointed that I was not given the opportunity to recharge the system rather than a more expensive option. I ended paying around $750 for recharging the system. The next time I will buy the gauges and do it myself.
I have enjoyed my services with T.F OBrien for more than 5 years. The personell are professional, courteous and very knowledgeable of their work. The last service tech we had, Daniel L., was no exception.
Heating system inspection and cleaning: The technicican, Anthony, is great. He came early in the appointment window and did a great job and explained the system and gave me maintenance tips. I also had a helpful phone consultation with Christopher OBrien about air-purification systems.
Brandon came to my house after making sure I would be at home. He was both polite and friendly. He came in for an estimate of an installation of one ductless air condioner in my basement. I would have loved to let him does the work, but the price shocked me. The company wants to charge me more than $4000 for just one ductless air conditioner, and its not even a good one. Brandon didnt make the price up because he just showed me the price thats on their book. The funny thing is that the electric works are not included and they normally cost around $500. And I also need to find one myself. I wonder why theres so many good reviews of this company when they are just literally raping their customers on prices. I found the exact same air conditioner online that costs $549. So basically they just cut a hole on your wall, mount the air conditioner on the wall and they want $3500 labor. I contacted another company the same day and they are willing to do it for $1900 plus all the electric work. :) Same 12 year warranty as well. So do yourselves a favor, find another company for whatever air conditioning jobs you need done.
AC tuneup on June 12th, trying to beat the heat we all know is coming. Appointment was for 8 AM and OBrien was right on time. Two men, one handled outdoors and one went straight to the basement. These guys knew their stuff and were done within 45 minutes. My unit was fine. They didnt try to sell me anything and they even wished me happy birthday (June 12 was the big day). I couldnt be happier with their service. Theyll be back in November to check the furnace.
Anthony came to my home after normal working hours because my AC unit was not working. It just so happened to be one of the hottest days of the year, so I appreciated the quick response. He immediately diagnosed the problem and had a replacement part secured the very next day. Thankfully, my AC unit is back in good order now.Thanks again, Anthony and TF OBrien for your professional and timely service.By the way, my annual service contract also helped me save some money.
Raphael was very professional and very competent. He explained in detail what was wrong with my system, contacted the manufacturer and then made an appointment to return once the new parts came in. I was distressed that my expensive system was not working correctly after just 3 years. Raphael made me feel that everything was going to be taken care of and that the system was in good shape, only the computer transmitter needed replacing.

I was told TWO TIMES that an appointment would be made to repair a leak in my A/C system and NEVER heard back. Extremely shocked in their lack of follow up. Went to someone else and problem was fixed immediately.
Absolutely terrible service. We were without heat and hot water and it took almost 48 hours to even get a call back from these clowns (and we called their EMERGENCY hotline). Techician finally showed up and had no clue what was wrong. He told us that it would be at least another two days to get the part that he thought was at issue. He couldn’t have looked less interested in helping, just quick to take our $70 payment to show up. This is the service we get even with having a service contract with them. We called Old World Quality and had someone at our house within an hour and the whole system fixed in a matter of hours. TF is terrible and I will never call them nor recommend them again.
Called the company, T.F. O’Brien, to schedule an appointment for annual boiler maintenance and was quoted a price of $165 + tax. That’s fair. I requested that they send someone that was familiar with my specific boiler type — a Weil-McLain Ultra Series 2 boiler. Appointment was scheduled. I get a call from my father, letting me know that he received a call from the company informing him that:1. The date would need to be changed.2. The price that was quoted to me just a few minutes ago would not be honored because it is not considered the “standard” boiler type and that a price would be determined upon a technician’s arrival and evaluation.Very shady and unprofessional, to say the least. Suffice to say, I called back and cancelled the appointment.

Charla and Andre were absolutely amazing to work with. We recently bought a home where 10 of the radiators did not function properly, including leaking massive amounts of water so we could not run the system. Our radiant and baseboard heaters did not work as well. After meeting 13 plumbers I saw a TF OBrien truck and called. Charla immediately had Andrew come out and assess how to solve the issue. After at least 10 trips to our home, the heater is now working (except for the baseboard and radiant). I could not be happier with my interaction with Andre, he was professional, aware that we had kids in the house so was respectful of nap times, noise, language, etc. He was diligent in his notes back to the main office which always made for good conversation with Charla when we were following up. Charla was great at getting Andre back quickly and working around our schedule as both my husband and I work. Andre also did a great job installing our new water heater. Overall, highly recommended and amazing customer service.
This company is a rip off. Stay away from them.My name is Dr. Akhter. I live less than a mile from their store. Last Saturday my boiler stopped working. My regular plumber was not available. I called T.F. O’Brien thinking they are neighbors. A lady called me back. She told me that I pay $195 flat fee for the technician to come over. If he has to change the part, I have to pay for the part. They don’t charge by the hour. The technician came, he worked on the system for around 40 minutes and he changed the gas valve. He charged me $966.84. I paid since I had no option because it was weekend and my house was cold. The technician also gave me a list of fixes for the system. Change the pressure valve, air vent, and relief valve a total bill of 872.00. This morning I called two three guys from my neighborhood and they all were flabbergasted that TF O’Brien ripped me off. I called three heating and plumbing folks and they all said there is nothing wrong with my vlaves and I should not change anything.My suggestion- Stay away from this company. These people if can take advantage of a neighbor I am not sure, what they are doing to others.

This is the technician you want when your AC doesnt work. Anthony is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He found the problem within a few minutes, had to order parts, returned a few days later and I was lucky to have him back to replace the drain pan.

A great company from salesman to install. The installers even kept out of sight when i had to take my fearful dog out for a walk! After 5 years, a minor issue was addressed ASAP (in the summer) at no cost to me. I would recommended this company to anyone in need of HVAC.

Nicholas B. Came to service my Rudd furnace who was charging $155 for a service call which took over a week to schedule. I told him that we smelled something funny and the furnace was running on and off. Maybe it’s an electrical issue and Nicholas was not aware, but after Turning the furnace on for 5-10 minutes he decided that there were no issues with the unit.A few days after the “service” now my furnace constantly runs on and off. At first I thought it might be a nest thermostat issue so I called nest and ran through all the diagnostics. After an hour, the issue was clearly the furnace.Now I have to call another heating company to fix this issue unless t.f o’brien is willing to fix the issue that I originally paid for.

Ray was very professional. He came to service my gas furnace and hot water heater. He took the time to give me pointers and suggest alterations for the safety of my system. I am extremely satisfied with the service.
Bad experience and way too expensive. Scheduled an appointment to have a leak fixed on a boiler. I agreed to pay the $160 consultation fee, but the technician they sent seemed to have no experience whatsoever. He didnt even know how to turn on the boiler to check where the leak was coming from. All he did was take a couple dozen photos and say that some other technician would get back to us with an estimate by the end of the day. Didnt receive any response from them and decided to call them after a few days. They finally gave a quote, but it was more than $1500. I Initially picked this company because they were supposed to be an authorized repair company for the boiler I had, but they have inexperienced technicians, bad customer service, and high prices.
T. F. OBrien installed our central air conditioning and Rishi, with Dion, was the lead installer. The next day he was joined by Ajay and Anthony. The whole team was amazing, polite, accommodating and they walked the extra mile. Rish and Dion, who worked both days, were one of the best teams I have ever encountered. T. F. Obrien was recommended by my brother, who had his AC installed a couple of months earlier and I am glad that I took his recommendation. I would definitely recommend them. I cannot properly express how good these folks are! In quick time they removed and replaced entire HVAC system and made the whole experience so easy and we were up and running in a few hours. Absolutely the best in all aspects of the HVAC business.
My gas fired boiler failed to fire up late in the afternoon on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Anthony called me within about 15 minutes of my placing a call to the T.F. O’Brien switchboard at about 5:30PM. He said that he was about to leave a job in Roslyn and should be in Long Beach in about an hour. He arrived right on time and very quickly diagnosed the problem with my gas fired boiler. Although it needs a new motor as a permanent fix, Anthony was able to get the system going so that it could operate for a few days until the part is ordered the next business day. Anthony was extremely knowledgeable about my system even though he had not seen it prior to his visit, he was extremely courteous and I would say that he could be the best and most efficient and effective technician that I have ever had in my home to fix a problem. You will not be sorry to have him in your home or business when you have an HVAC issue.
Felix is a very professional tech, installed a new furance,hot water tank and a new humidifier. He and Rich & Anthony are very knowledgeable, they explained what they where doing,and they did a great job,were very happy. T.J.OBrien should be very proud to have such great techs
We were fortunate that Paul S was assigned to our service call because of his patience and clear explanation of our problem.Our kitchen HVAC was not working probably, so we thought, but Paul explained that the problem was not the unit but rather the cabinet cover which prevented air circulation. We were finally convinced, after the third visit, that h e was correct. The cabinet was removed and the system is working perfectly. We have dealt with several different servicemen since moving into our condo, and realize that none would have been as patient and pleasant as Paul. They save me from cold house. I have a problem with my furnace right in the winter day. They came after 1 hour I called them. Fixed my problem and I am good to go! They are very nice and professional. I would like to recommend them.

Apparently T.F. stands for to f in busy to keep our appointment. Had an appointment scheduled for April 13, two weeks in advance o. April 12,2019 began recieving text not even a courtesy phone call attempting to reschedule. After the second time he attempted to reschedule I said if you cant keep my appointment maybe we should just cancel altogether, to which the person happily stated okay give u as a call.Mind you this was to recieve an appraisal on installation of air conditioning which was a $10,000 or more job. DONT BOTHER CALING THEM THEY WILL WASTE YOUR TIME
I had a defective remote control which is covered under warranty. It wasnt operating the unit I have properly and they blamed the problem on the unit not going in to heat mode me instead of the defective remote. Then they tried to charge me a service charge to send me a warranty covered remote. NOt happy at all. I tried to talk to the tech and he basically told me its not their problem.
Im happy with the service. Having just purchased my home and having the HVAC go out in the middle of heat wave. I was glad I called T.F. OBrien as they were recommended to me.

A huge ripoff! Be wary!!!!In 2010 we had these guys install our Mitsubishi Ductless AC and they did a fine job, hence we went back to them in July 2016 to see why our AC was not performing the way it was.They said the visit was $139 and there was no hourly so they would fix whatever was wrong. Ok great. Well... the guy came out and said look you have a dirty blower wheel.We said ok can you clean it.. No no, thats for a separate visit. (They said they would fix what was wrong on this visit) Let me get you a quote......People I kid you not $500 to clean the wheel. Is this wheel golden, holy??? We said to him we could get a window AC for every window in the room for that price. Who are they kidding.Obviously their standard or level of honesty has changed in those 6 years! We said no way and looked it up on YouTube. It took us 45 minutes to clean the blower wheel!The said oh it takes many hours to clean. Plus the technician used the, dont blame me its headquarters who sets the rules . Yes dishonesty comes from the top. So we paid $139 and got absolutely zip! Oh and there was tax.We cleaned the wheel while it was still inside the unit, but he (TF Obrien Tech) is a professional and cleaning the blower is probably a common routine, so lets say an hour. $500/hour. He must be a lawyer :)Look elsewhere! Beware!
Heat turned off, so we called T.F. OBrien. They called us back, and in under a half an hour Ray arrived. He looked at the furnace, and knew immediately what was wrong. He removed a part, fixed it and literally in just a few minutes, it was up and running. That was 3 days ago, and all is warm and well.I hope we dont have to, but if we ever need another repair..... well definitely ask for Ray.
Brendan was very knowledgeable and professional as well as friendly. Jose was great during the installation. It was a very cold and rainy day and the guys just kept at it and finished the job!

What A RIP OFF !!! stay away. I was having issues with my system and saw the good rating on google and went ahead and made an appointment. they said they would charge to come in and would be able to diagnose the issue and give an estimate for repair. I paid $150 for a certified tech to give me a bad diagnoses. He said the motor is blown and to just pull the motor out of the system to replace it would be $650. then they would give me a estimate to replace. they were pushing me to get a new system installed. Something didnt see right so i a friend that knows a little about this stuff take a look. He traced the issue to a bad capacitor. we bought for $5 and everything is back online. took 2 mins to replace. they wanted over $4000 for new furnace. i suggest from my experience to stay away from doing business with this company.
Had a clicking sound from heating unit. Tech came.and.we.couldnt get problem to re appear. I was.told.to video record when it happens again. Recorded yesterday .sent them the video,they made a services ray returned last friday and stole the part he ordered and everything is working fine appointment that was convenient to my schedule. Ray came and found the problem in short order.

Jimmy came to our home after normal business hours and did what needed to be done immediately to get us cool, additionally he recommended a yearly service plan that will save us some money on the future work that will be needed over the next week or two to maintain our Central Air Conditioning unit and keep it operating efficiently.Lets face it Jimmy could have told me I needed a lot more work then I did, but he didnt. Now instead of just break fix work T.F. OBrien will be coming to my home on a yearly basis to maintain my system because of Jimmys professionalism. I made an appointment for between 3pm-5pm afew days in advance, on the day i called in the morning to confirm the time and they were coming. The person who was going to be coming to my house called me around 1 to tell me he would be there at 5 oclock....... I waited till about 6:30 until i had to leave my house, (tried calling the number the guy called me from but it was there office number which no one answers after 5pm) the guy calls me at 7pm to tell me hes on his way. I told him i wasnt there anymore and it was kind of unprofessional to not atleast call and let me know your going to be over 2 hours late. He said OK and that was it. Really unprofessional :/
They provided a quote that was absurdly exorbitant. Literally over twice the other two quotes received from other professionals. Absolutely ridiculous. Youd have to be crazy to go with them. Get other quotes, youll thank me.

Im new to the area and was having problems with my furnace - it was dead. I called early Saturday morning, and the answering service said they would have someone call. Almost 3 hours later - no call, so I call back and the answering service says they will repage the technician. The technician calls me 15 minutes later, finds out I am not an existing customer, and says that I need to call back on Monday.- Guess they dont want new customers.- The answering service couldnt have told me that 3 hours earlier?
T.F. OBrien Heating and Cooling have never let my family down. Todays service tech, Malik, was polite and professional. He answered all my questions in such a manner that I was able to understand. Malik is just one of the many outstanding employees at T. F. OBrien.

2022-05-11I recently had my AC systems serviced by TF OBrien. For years, I used another company and for the most, I was satisfied. That was before I had something to compare it to. From the moment the technician, Josh, rang the doorbell, I knew that calling TF O’Brien was a smart decision. Josh was friendly and asked questions about the AC system in my home. He listened attentively and at no time did he required me to repeat myself.Josh explained everything before starting and kept me informed of needed repairs and estimates of costs throughout the day. It turned out there were several issues. Josh provided me with options and explained the best course of action, demonstrating his knowledge of AC systems.Josh respected my home, wearing protective footwear and a mask.Before presenting me with the bill, Josh carefully reviewed everything he completed and the need for a follow-up visit. At the end of the day, my AC system was working well and I was BEYOND satisfied with the quality of work and Josh’s attention to detail. Thank you TF obrien. And thank you Josh!

2022-06-21I called TF Obrian 3 weeks ago. Explained that I wanted to air condition part of my basement and probably install a new water heater.3 days later I got a call from them. Explaining (again) what I wanted done. I was told I would get a call back to set up the estimate appointment .Thats it. Nothing more, never called me, no email , text, nothing .Was the job to small? Maybe. Just let me know. Dont keep me hanging..I wouldnt call them once they wasted my time. So while I cannot rate them on their workmanship I will score them on the business practice .. pretty much 0

2022-04-26I purchased my heating and A/C system from T.F. O’Brien about five years ago and was very satisfied with the installation provided. I have been fortunate to receive excellent maintenance from the technician’s who service my system twice a year. The technician’s are on time, give great service, are meticulous about their work and respectful of my home. A shout out to Masud, the tech they sent to my home last week. Great job Masud!!! 2022-05-12Really disappointed with TF. Had a minor leak in a copper pipe fitting. They quoted $500.00 plus the visit which put the repair at $600.00. The job is about an hour repair. Absolutely crazy. Had a plumber come out and the repair was done for $250.00. I was expecting $300 or $350 from TF but almost $600.00 ..... Never again. Was going to have them service my central AC but now I am not going to renew my heating contract and just move on completely. Their Greediness is not acceptable for a long time customer. The only place I want to see TF OBrien is in my rear view mirror.
