Great location, can watch the sunset closely but the dock. Food was great! Very authentic taste. They have children menu as well which was great, since we have 5 kids in the group. They have a full bar and live music. Parking was a little difficult out front, we parked in the McDonalds park lot next door.
HUGE pieces of plastic found in every dish I ordered! Pad Ginger, Pad Thai and Calamari all had plastic in it. Oh and the calamari had pieces of plastic caught in the center and fried with the plastic, it appeared intentional at this point. I don’t know if I should take legal action or not, but this was the worse experience I had ever had in my life. I’ve ordered from Thai Rock before, and the food was delicious...never again.
Very disappointed. Food was good but not happy spending over 100 bucks and being served on paper plates and plastic utensils. My food came to me in a clear plastic container. Appetizers came in an aluminum foil tray. It was like order takeout food and staying in. It started to get dark not enough light. I asked why we were served on paper plates and wasd told because of Covid. I was like what...I have been to other restaurants and they served on actual plates and metal utensils and glass cups. Food was good. The waitress was very nice. Just dont like being served on paper plates and plastic disposable trays. Bad for the environment as well. Food was good.
I was in the mood for Thai tonight and a friend found a place in the water we were hoping would have the outdoor seating available during this pandemic of 2020. Behold found this place next to Cross Bay Bridge by Beach 92nd st and Rockaway Beach blvd. Because of the pandemic, they were not open for sit down for another 2.5 weeks. The place is right next to Bungalow and upon arrival, you may think its a small place due to the small entrance. The place opens up in the back on the water. We placed our order by yelp and it said at least 30 mins before it would be done. We arrived there 45 mins prior to closing. There were a few people waiting for their pickup orders, and we decided to wait until they all left for social distancing. When we got in, Robert greeted us and let me tell you, he was very welcoming and gracious for us to come. They also prepared cocktails from the menu. Of course you are not allowed to drink outside, only for takeout. The lychee martini was to die for. Maybe I had not had one in a while with the lock down, but it was damn good. I had 2 of them and made me a happy camper. I ordered Tom Yum soup, fried calamari, mango salad and house fried rice with shrimp and squid. The calamari was not oily at all. The Tom yum was good and flavorful. The mango salad was really good, i almost went back for another one. The rice was not bad. May have been a little pricier than I expected. Brought it home to my son who left not trace of it and at 11pm. The drinks is what really made it. When I woke up the next day, no ill effects and certainly no headache so they use good liquor. I would certainly return to try more items on the menu, but i would definitely return for Robert who was just so open and welcoming. It also seemed most regulars who were picking up knew him well. What a great demeanor!
I absolutely love this place!! Ive been to several Thai places but this is the only one Ive visited where theres a water deck. Sitting outside, sun shinning down while sipping on a thai iced tea and savoring a pineapple fried rice, PRICELESS. The staff is very friendly and many of the dishes are quite inexpensive.
I LOVE this place and go here often. Some of the best Thai food, really good stuff. The kind of Thai restaurant that makes you feel like ordering something besides Pad Thai or Red Curry, although those are delicious too. Stunning location on the bay with a view of sunset and the NYC skyline. They have side businesses in the summer, renting jet skis, and the Tarzan Boat!!
I am so upset I found out about this place after I left ny. I had the chicken dumplings fried, calamari and the Thai chicken fried rice. All were different in a fantastic way. The dumplings had great flavor and were perfectly fried. The calamari looks like it was breaded with some sort of cornmeal. It was one of the best I had in the area. And the fried rice was one of the best Ive had in any restaurant. Its a great place on the water with some great views of the skyline through the columns of the bridge. A nice break from the wave of seasonal hipster crap that takes over the Rockaways.
Loved the live music, atmosphere and drinks (highly recommend the Thai iced tea with rum). Food wasn’t as flavorful as other Thai restaurants I’ve visited — I definitely recommend requesting hot sauce. Service was slow, despite a seemingly full staff and not totally packed restaurant.
Went here for a lunch on a weekday. The staff was very friendly and the ingredients were fresh!Probably the best authentic Thai food on the island. Youll get some amazing cocktails at the bar and if you go during the summer they will have a BBQ out on the patio with some music. They also have a watersport dock right next to the patio.
A little bit pricey, but most of it was worth it. The appetizers were great - the Lime shrimp wasnt bad, having a very authentic sauce at the base. The real winner of this place was the steak - It was made to perfection and I would really really recommend it. The service was top notch with our waiter taking great care of us and our drinks, and the only complaint that I would have is that the Lava Cake and Cheesecake are mediocre at best, definitely not worth getting (Dessert is the last thing you remember from the restaurant so dont feel cheated with it!)
Update : watch the automatic added gratuity almost left a 65 tip on a 130 bill because almost missed it . Was surprised to see it added on since there was just 2 of us .food is good . Favorite is the seafood salad , super fresh and just the right amount of spicy. Love the yum beef salad also , the steak is tender and seasoned perfect . The pork and chicken skewers are also really good . The drinks are bit pricey but the food is good and the drinks are cold so we deal with it. The owners are always there so that is a huge + . The food never disappoints!
Guys this place is awesome!First of all when you first enter, there’s an outer space that I highly recommend . They are directly on the water and at night there’s such a pretty view of the water in the Bridge it’s so romantic. Bring a partner or a friend or a first date here. They will be impressed. However If you go at night be sure to bring a hoodie or light jacket, because it gets windy by the water. This place has a Michelin star and that really means some thing for the menu. We highly recommend ordering the scallion cake. It was delicious and very unique from other places we’ve been to. They had really delicious pad Thai And a cashew nut tofu option. The staff were really kind but a little understaffed unfortunately so it took a while to get the orders in. We really like to here and will definitely pay another visit.
I love thai food and was super excited to try this place because of the good reviews that it has. Finally got to try it. Horrible experience, I couldn’t eat my food! the green curry was disgusting and smelled like stinky feet and sewage water. The calamari was over cooked and super chewy.
If you dont read the whole review, here are the key points: 18% gratuity is already included in your bill but they dont tell you, beautiful view, tasty food.Beautiful view and tasty food. Ive come many times pre-COVID and this never seemed to be an issue, but this time around, service seemed to be rushed, which kind of detracted from the overall experience.Their menu also shrank, which was disappointing, but is understandable considering the times.Lastly, and this is probably the biggest item and Ive never noticed this before but am pretty sure its always happened, they auto include an 18% gratuity and dont tell you. Ive always thought the place was expensive whenever I pay, but never put much thought to it. Only to realize yesterday, its because they automatically include an 18% gratuity. I would expect this on a table of 6+, but we were just 2 people. It may have not been as much of a turn off to me if they had noted the gratuity, but they didnt, and there is still a line for a tip at checkout - practices like this just seem dishonest to me.Im sure Ill go back, but at least now Im well aware to not leave an extra tip.
If you are in the Rockaways, and you are looking for Thai or Asian cuisine,Look no further!Thai Rock offers amazing Thai specialities. On my visit, I enjoyed the dumplings, Chicken Fried Rice, and a Ginger Entree.Absolutely outstanding Thai foodOnly drawback is price, inflation is in full swing and its a classy place so be prepared to drop ~~$30-$50.
Despite the difficult situation of Covid limitations on dining, it was a nice family dinner next to the Bay. This time we were very happy with our waiter compared to our previous experience two years ago, such is why we hadnt returned until now. Food has always been great and still is. We didnt have to wait long , even for a party of six in limited space. They are doing a great job at turning tables but making sure guests are happy, and we were. Its worth the wait to sit on the water and enjoy some good food during a difficult time.
Its more about the ambiance. The pad thai is good and the mojito but i feel like since its become only pick up they have not been giving as much attention to giving quality food/drinks. The owner however is always very kind and welcoming. & I loved this place precovid.
This is a nice place. It has lots of decorations that makes you feel in Thailand. The environment was quiet and my friends and I were able to have a nice conversation at the bar. The server was around but did not interfere with our time. The food was not to my expectations. I ordered chicken pad Thai. It was not the best. I have tried better. It had too much sause, it was too sweet and sour. One could taste all the spices, which to me it was not delicious.
Good food great service. Beautiful views of the cross bay bridge spanning over Jamaica Bay. Ordered my burger medium well and came back well done. Not a huge issue to cry over. Will be coming back! Recommend going at sunset for some great picture taking if you’re into photography!
Live Music, Loved the scenery of Ocean, Food was good, not a fan of the soup though, but if you are familiar with the culture it shouldnt be a problem. Decent Service. You have the option of sitting by the Ocean, in Favorable Weather. Parking is a little difficult at times, might have to park a block away.
I love to enjoy delicious meals from different places, but service is a vital part of my experience. Ozzie was one of my waitress and she paid no attention to us, she didn’t explain what the specials were or her recommendations, didn’t give us any utensils, never placed the sauces on our table, and gave us water mid way through. I hate feeling as if my experience is different than someone else because I saw great reviews. She never ONCE came to check on us, the waitress changed to a woman with a child who was off the clock and she tended to us at the end of our meal. There was a hostess named Yannie and she was kind and offered us a blanket. I was annoyed because the food took so long and I got pineapple rice with shrimp and chicken, sweet and sour sauce was $3 extra and at other Thai places it is FREE. The drink I ordered was not mixed well or strong. NEVER once asked “How was your meal/drink?”, they paid us no mind, I had to get up from my seat three times to find someone. I don’t like to feel like I am being treated differently because of any prejudice pre notion, I was a respectful customer and I would’ve appreciated a respectful and fun experience. Avoid this place if you want a better Thai experience choose somewhere else. It wasn’t busy at all - and I wasn’t taken care of appropriately.
Tonight was very cool and I had my children with me and the hostess seated us outside which was uncomfortable we had to wrap up in blankets. The wait on the food took a long time. When the food did arrive it was delicious! I will order take out next time so I can be comfortable. Thank you
If there was a way to give this place a zero star , I would do so. We went there on a Friday evening for a friends birthday and there were 14 of us. They gave us 3 menus for 14 people, anyway when we were ready to make order our server was nowhere to be found; I walked to the bar and called our server. While talking our order he was keep messing it up and we had to made sure 3-4 times that he got the right order. 25 minutes after ordering we got half of our appetizers and other half was missing. Thats not the worst part; we literally waited for more than 1 hour 45 min for our main courses and missing appetizers to arrive. When we asked server why is it talking so long he rudely replied its Friday night and you guys have lots of foods thats why even though half of the restaurant was empty. When our main courses arrived we were all very hungry and almost all of our dishes but 2-3 were cold and dry. Im pretty sure they made our dishes one by one and brought all together so it was bound to get cold and dry. We were really hungry from waiting almost 2 hours for the food that we didnt send anything back and God knows how long they would take if we send it back. All in all , the restaurant had a nice view thats all otherwise there service is beyond terrible. Food is dry and cold. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.
Well maintained family business. The wife runs a tight ship in the open kitchen. Some of the best Thai dishes are deliciously prepared and presented. I try to have something different every time I go and I have not yet been disappointed. Nice selection of desserts. Nice decor, handsome bar and stunning sunsets. Entertainment starts at 9pm on the weekends...out on the deck in warm weather.
Food was good but terrible service. The worst moment was on the wobbly table that they had to come and fix, my drink that was just brought to the table accidentally spilled all over the table and my clothes. In the interest of moving forward and enjoying the rest of the evening, I just ordered a new one and tried to ignore I had a mango rum drink all over me and my clothes. When the bill came, I discovered I was charged for the drink that spilled all over me. When I requested it be taken off the bill since it was a mistake and I didn’t get to actually enjoy it, I was told “no, it wasn’t our fault so you must pay”. I never heard of such a thing in a fast food restaurant let alone a real one.Totally ruined the day and the experience and doubt I will ever go back....
Would have given 5 stars for the taste of the drinks and food but the service was so poor it deserves 3 stars at best. They weren’t very busy and the waitress was not personable, inattentive during our whole visit, didn’t remember (or care to remember) our request for no straws even though she made the drink herself. Then we had to ask the busboys (who were nicer at least) since we waited so long after we ate for any service to have a coffee. The coffee was forgotten. I had to then pay extra for the coffee since the bill was paid and no apologies about any of it. Will come back for the flavor of drinks and food but service was horrible.
The place has an amazing view but their service and behavior doesnt even deserve 1 start. They get away with it because the add the gratuity on the bill. So you you dont have a chance!I really dont review places unless its super super good or the worst service in the world. Unfortunately this is the worst. We ordered our food around 8:35 pm on a Friday night. Since it was a birthday dinner everyones busy talking to each other So time flew by. But after waiting 1 hour. Yes one hour! Not even a single dish came in. So we asked the Waiter. Hes rude and unprofessional attitude didnt help one bit. We wanted to walk out of there immediately but it was around 10 pm almost. So finding another place for the large group was another headache. So around 10 pm the first plates started coming. And surprise surprise!!Every plate had wrong orders!I ordered shrimp fried rice but got 3 chicken fried rice on the table. This is NOT the ideal place to expect good service and good food. If youre all about views, then go for it!WORST RESTAURANT IVE BEEN TO!
Come here occasionally with my hubby and I always enjoy the food. Today, I ordered the Moms Tom Yum fried rice! It was spicy the way I like it and tasted so good! There is a hint of lime squeezed in the rice and I ordered it with shrimp! Definitely a must try!The service is okay, they could be a bit more personable. I love my drink, the cranberry mojito was everything and then some! Love that its surrounded by water with an indoor/outdoor experience!
I been here twice. Very easy to get to. parking is a pain. Food and drinks are amazing. Service was great. We happened to come here while a Jazz band was playing so it was a pretty awesome night. We started off with Shrimp rols and shrimp dumplings. Both were amazing. I had the chicken with mixed veggies. That was also so good. I had a few mia tias which were good. They could have been a little stronger. The price was right. The music was amazing and the company was awesome. The place overlooks the water. Make sure to ask the staff what the code is for the bathroom.
Bizarre poor service across the board. Didnt greet us, didnt seat us for 45 in spite of an on time reservation, drinks took 45 more min to arrive (even though it wasnt packed and there were tons of staff standing around), food orders were mixed up (they didnt write down or remember who a single dish went to and got 2 of 7 peoples actual menu items wrong), they were sullen and uncommunicativr the whole time, never filled our water glasses... It went on and on rather comically until our party was kind of chuckling about it, at least as an alternative to bring disappointed. This sort of thing wouldnt be a big deal at a neighborhood affordable spot or a diner, but the meal was priced like an upscale Manhattan destination restaurant - Im not a rich or fancy person, and wouldnt write this review if everything hadnt cost twice normal prices. For that price, what youre paying for is a pleasant time and service, and the service sucked. The food was just alright by the way.Great views of the bay is all I can say in this sports favor. First negative review Ive left on Google in a year.
I can say this is far beyond a horrible place to celebrate your birthday dinner. Spent 2 hours for main course, you ought to expect it to be great since the 2 hour wait but no where near close to it cold food half the food missing, orders wrong. When we said something they snapped back at us. Save your money go elsewhere. Place wasn’t even busy on a Friday night, but still no service from the workers.Horrible service!!!Never going back.
It was the best restaurant we ate last 4 month.Pizza better than in Rome, fluke is better than in Istanbul and clams are better than in Long Island.Band was too loud , the crowd is very diverseSurprised to experience it in the resort area, Covid time and Rockaway park .
Love their desserts... nice ambience with outdoor deck. However... it took forever to get water... took another forever to place our order.. and another forever to get the check. Its a buzz kill and it takes away from the whole experience. But if you end up going... their pumpkin dessert with sticky coconut rice is amazing.
Yes the food is amazing, but the wait staff are not very good. Took about 25 minutes to get someone to take our order. The waitress took our order and then we never saw her again. It took 30 minutes from ordering to get our food in which time I got up to ask the waitress about refills on drinks and how long it would be, she was behind the bar on her phone. We had to wave down another person to get refills and she said she would tell our waitress, then we asked a busser. By the time he came to ask us when kind of tea we wanted as a refill we were done so we asked for our bill. Waited another 7 minutes before I got up to ask another person for our bill. The whole time or waitress was outside sitting in a chair on her phone. Again, the food is amazing, horrible staff.
Well upon first glance from the outside, I thought it would look different but was pleasantly surprised when I went inside. It was nice, a bit loud since they had the live music going. Me and my girlfriend didnt wait long for our food, the waitress was on top of everything. Food was delicious 😋.
Wow where to begin?First of all, parking is a mess. Its not even a lot just a space in front for people to pull in stupidly. Servers took forever to even acknowledge us. I tried to call a few servers over and they ignored me every time. When we did finally get someone, she had so much attitude for no reason. At least pretend to care or show some sort of personality! I felt so bad because I took my significant other out for a special occasion here thinking it was going to be amazing but ended up being the opposite. We got the wrong order and instead of the idiotic waitress being apologetic she acted as if we inconvenienced her by pointing out the wrong entree. I gave two stars because the food was really good, just wish the service was better.
Stellar place on the water! Food was yummy and a very good selection of beers and alcohol! The staff was sweet and Robert, the owner was super nice and bought my lady and I a round of drinks! Came all the way from north bergen nj to see Dennis DelGaudio and his band. It was so worth the trip!!! Hope to be back when summer kicks in!
I ordered out and had their food delivered. Well as a first timer trying their food all I can say is WOW! Food tasted great and the delivery guy was a very nice dude as well! Amazing flavor to the food, my only gripe however is that the portions seem a tad bit small for the prices. But overall a good experience ordering from here.
This restaurant gets good vibes! The live jazz and is the high light together with the mango salad I enjoyed! Staff is so friendly and they are really fast on getting our food ready. It is right on the water with lounge in the back.Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Extremely overpriced especially since you have to order through a window and basically serve yourself . Felt like I was in a school cafeteria. I’ve been to other places already ever since they reopened outdoor dinning and I feel like this place could do so much better especially since they offer such a nice patio with a view too.
My experience there wasn’t bad at all. The service was not bad but it could’ve been better. The food was okay, they warned me about the Thai fire (heat) it was pretty hard core though! Straight up chili pepper with every bite! Not bad lol. They’re pretty expensive for the portions they’re giving out! A little too expensive for Thai food. The quality is alright!
Well this was disappointing. Spent $129 on 3 meals and 1 appetizer and 1 beer, had to order at window, pick up at window/bar. When I asked for an extra side of peanut sauce for my appetizer (because it was given to us in Togo boxes, totally fine due to Covid) the ramekin was literally the size of a thumb, the girl said oh you have to order it. Like dude, seriously, it would probably take another hour like our food. She never even came with it anyways. Waste of money. Would go to Bungalow next door instead.
I ordered a duck and pineapple fried rice with duck and it was the saltiest dish I ever had and the duck was super dry too. When I asked the waitress to give me any type of sweet sauce she let me know that it was an additional cost. So not only my dish was bad but I had to pay to fix it not to mention that this dish was $30 dollars.Really bad service and nasty food I will never go to that place again.
If you think you tasted all the delicious foods in the world, you are wrong. Take a sip of the tai soup. It expands your thoughts that want to travel the world to search that unique new creativity on your pallette of your mouth . They dont call it Pho, but similar design. I wish there were more vegitables but they fill your bowl till almost over edge. Enjoy!
There were very few POSITIVE things to say about Thai Rock! We are new to the area, and this establishment was recommended to us by our landlord... what a mistake we made coming to this restaurant. The time it took to get a table was relatively short, which impressed us... at first... until we were seated out on the patio, on the water. The table we were seated at had an umbrella in the middle, but the umbrella HAD to stay collapsed so it wouldnt blow away. Therefore, I was forced to sit angled at the table, just so I could see my fiance while we were trying to talk. AND the WIND!!!.... oh my GOODNESS, the wind is out of the restaurants control - I understand, but they could either WARN patrons that it is horribly windy outside, OR simply shut down the patio all-together! It was EXTREMELY chilly out on that patio, and we are not alone in feeling this way... the couple trying to sit next to us placed their order for appetizers & drinks, but couldnt stand the wind / cold - they asked to be reseated INSIDE before their order even arrived. Our waitress was kind & soft spoken, but something went HORRIBLY wrong when it came to receiving our orders. We waited nearly 45 minutes just to receive our food!! (And I may be UNDER-exaggerating) In fact, another server noticed me looking around and came over to ask if we wanted our check. (I replied, NO! We havent even eaten yet!!)When the food FINALLY arrived, it was decent - but CERTAINLY NOT the best Thai weve ever had! As were 7/8ths done with our meal, clearly still eating - with utensils in hand - a member of the ancillary staff (a table clearer) came over and picked up my plate with rice still on it and said How was everything? I became very angry, tossed down my fork and said I guess Im done! The waitress never refilled our water, or asked if we wanted seconds of our beverages - even though we were clearly there over 90 minutes!Needless to say, I paid the check as quickly as possible, and gratuity reflected our negative experience. More importantly, I do not believe that we will be returning ANY TIME soon!!
If I can give you guys 0 I would. Wings was old and I can clearly tell was just siting there by how hard there were. I had to ask for utensils and napkins because none were given. The ladies there were rude. Did not double check my order to see if anything was correct. It was just nasty... waste of money. Drove one hour from Manhattan for nothing.
I love this place! Staff is friendly and they hAve an amazing atmosphere. Its a bit pricey but completely worth it! Best nights are live band nights but I enjoy going for lunch and sitting outside weather permitting. Great place to impress a date or to have a family dinner. Food is authentic to Thailand and absolutely amazing! Mmm getting the Thai Rick taste in my mouth as I write this review.
Called and made a reservation for 2 for me and my boyfriend tonight. I arrived and was offered the choice of 1 table (which was the only table free) or the option to wait possibly 30 minutes for another table to open. We chose the 1 table that was free. We sat down, took our coats off, got comfortable and ordered our drinks and food. Our drinks arrived first so I started enjoying my drink. Shortly after, the hostess came over to our table and asked us if it would be ok if we moved because another party wanted the table we were sitting at. (Let me say again that we already received our drinks and were waiting on our food) To say the least I was utterly shocked! I graduated from Culinary school and this is something that should’ve NEVER happened in a restaurant! Restaurant etiquette? What restaurant etiquette! The family that wanted our table actually came over with the hostess to our table and stood right next to the table so we didn’t have much room to say no! Out of pure embarrassment, not wanting to cause a scene, and the stares we were getting we got up grabbed our stuff and moved to another table. This isn’t normal and I honestly never happened before nor have I ever seen or heard of this happening.
Great Thai food with beautiful view and seating outside on the water. Very clean. We did ask for a few simple requests that they were not able to accommodate, such as I requested an egg added to my saute and they said they couldnt. Found that rather odd but everything else was great.
I am infuriated with this business, I would leave zero stars if I could. I just experienced the worst customer service I have ever received. I will begin this review by saying that I have worked for years in the restaurant industry and always give people the benefit of the doubt. Its a rainy night, I understand that things can get delayed, however after what I just experienced, I will not be ordering from Thai Rock ever again.I placed an order for delivery with an estimated delivery time of 45-50 minutes. 75 minutes later we still didnt have our food and I called to make sure that they had received our order and that they were processing it. I was told that they had our order and then the woman hung up on me. I called back to clarify after being hung up on and was once again told wed receive our food soon. Once we had nearly reached the two hour mark I called again and was told that it was sent out for delivery. Two and a half hours later I realized that we werent getting our food and the employee confirmed that our order was lost. She said You should know not to call on the weekends when its busy. After I asked her to refund our money, she then proceeded to hang up on me. I had to wait from an email from Seamless to confirm that our refund was made. With an increase of new restaurants in the area, this lack of customer service will likely lead to this restaurants demise. And, I will not be there to back them up.
Worst place I’d ever visited this waitresses are slow the place is fishy, everything is overpriced, they messed up my order making it very spicy 🌶 which it makes me anxious since I have allergy from Spicy food. The place is slow as it gets, I rather go next door then eat what’s called Thai. ATTENTION TO THE OWNER, you have to smile when you see a customer not make a Poker Face like you don’t welcome the customers.AVOID AVOID AVOID this Place.
Ive been here three times, two of those three times we sat to eat outside. The wait staff has always been upbeat and happy but I cant say the same about the bar staff. The bar staff was 50/50 on how to make simple drinks other than their specialty drinks. The wait staff is very attentive and knows how explain each dish. Problem is the food is so so, as in it could be better for the simple Thai dishes that are made. Last night we went and the food came out cold, the bartender saw it was busy and came over to help. He took it too personal when we told him it was cold and said Its suppose to be like that. How is a Pork chop suppose to be cold and instead of re-making the dish, they just heated it and we all know that it will just over cook the food. I was sooo hungry I just ate my cold noodles, that were suppose to be hot. The seafood is a little fishy, thats what worries me. They didnt take anything off the bill which sends a message that the owner needs some help with his place. The music last night was pretty bad, but the time before it was ok. I think this place has a lot of potential but at the moment its expectable. I suggest the Thai dumplings highly!
This place is the absolute best !! Great staff , Great food and great ownership . I would like to take the time to say the girls who are in front are sweethearts and the waiter who took my order was great too the live band was amazing!!!! Really good food !!!!!!!! Worth my time and money
This is a very very good restaurant, the best I have seen or been to in a while, they have live bands playing there that sets a wonderful atmosphere, I was there on a Saturday night so probably the live band playing there was for that night but non-the-less I enjoyed our time there (me and the wife) and we are thinking of going back. Its really great that I dont have to go all the way to Manhattan for a decent night out. Just Wow
A good low-key meal on a Friday night. My friend had a seafood salad and I had green curry chicken. Good lychee margaritas too. We ate on the back patio. Friday night they had a good live band. The only unfortunate thing was the competing live band doing Grateful Dead covers at the Bungalow right next door.
Nice location to watch the sun set over Jamaica Bay and and the appetizers were tasty but the service is horrible. After waiting over an hour for my entree, I cancelled it and left the restaurant ,Its inexcusable that the wait staff never responded to my request on the status of my entree.
I really enjoy the food, atmosphere and service here but i dont know what tonight was all about. I arrived at 9:20pm and sat at the bar. On my way in there was one stagf member at the bar doing paperwork, then she got up and left. One guy came behind the bar, did his whatever he was doing and left. I sat for almost 10mins. No one greeted me, no menu, no anything. Place was almost empty mostly staff. Then i realized i was not going to get any service. I stood up, looked around, picked up my bag and proceeded to exit. Guess what? No one stopped me.Very disappointing.
Food is superb, & the wait staff is willing to explain each dish to the Thai-food novice at any table. Everything my party & I were served delighted our senses and pleased our palates more so than in months. We are all looking forward to returning to Thairock in the next four weeks.
Negative! Maybe to pop in for a drink or something... The place is dirty. I particularly hate when restaurants cant separate their patrons from their garbage. The staff have a terrible language barrier...they cant explain nor understand you. The food is ok. Nothing special. You can get better tasting wonton dishes at your local chineese food spot. The desert is awful. Do not order the Thai Banana, nor the custard...its 😵. Im not picky, but this place sucks. The only part I enjoyed was the Bob Marley music, otherwise, this was my first and last time here.
A delicious draught beer at the bar on the waterfront at sunset. A much nicer and quieter atmosphere than busy spot next door. Lovely bartender and tasty dishes. My curry was very tasty, but really kickin (though t it did not have the little symbol for spicy dishes). Our bartender brought me extra rice and some cucumbers to survive it. The Pad See Ew was also amazing.
I had such a bad experience at the thai rock. My food was over one hour late and the worst part is that our waiter never came to our table to apologize for the wait or to let us know how long it was going to be for the food. You can feel the discrimination in this place!!!!!!! Theres no way rice and shrimp take over an hour to make. We were the only Hispanics in this place... its a horrible feeling to be discriminated!
This place has THE WORST customer service Ive ever seen! Rude, unaccommodating & not helpful. All they want is your money! I tried to reschedule, and instead, this place told me I already used my jet skiing Groupon voucher. BEWARE! Sounds like the food would have been good though... disappointed I didnt even get to go, but with business conducted that way, I will never return.
This place WAS a regular visit for me. Ive had numerous luncheons here. I even ordered food from this place for my employees on Beach 116th street. I never had any complaints. Today I decided to order a Long Island Ice tea with my meal. When I got the ice tea it looked very very light. I decided to just try it when I did I got a mouthful of just alcohol. I then against my better judgement decided to stir it I thought it would be better. It was even worse it gave me such a headache after just two sips. When my waiter came I told him that the drink doesnt taste good that it gave me a headache. He offered me a new one but by this time I was pretty much done with my meal and had a headache. I told him no that Im fine with just my water. He leaves and comes back and asks me again to exchange it I told him no thanks he then says, I will still be charged for it. I told him that wasnt fair and said do what you need to do. The actual bartender came and offered me another drink, again. I then told her no that I am done my meal I dont want another drink. (By the way she didnt make my drink originally it was made by the manager). As we waited for our check to come...and waited and waited. I finally got up to get our waiters attention for the check. When he brought it they did not include the ice tea. Great! No problem. On the way out now the manager (the person who made the long island ice tea for me) says to me, by the way thats the way a Long Island ice is made. It is made with a lot of alcohol. Ive had my fair share of long island ice teas and I know that everyone has their own variation on making it. But that was not even close!! I then tell her, that no that was not a long Island ice tea and googled a picture of one to show her the difference. She still was persistent that her version of the tea was right and continued to argue with me.A note to Tai Rock: for the benefit of future customers please have a sign posted to your front door that states, Great service until you disagree with what we put on your table, then youre wrong and we are right.A note to the manager: What did that long island ice really cost you? Was it really worth it to argue with me? At cost that probably costed you what $5..$8? So for that $5...$8 dollar drink you lost a frequent customer all because your ego got out of control. I was ok that you didnt charge me for the drink. Why was is at as I was leaving you continued to tell me that I dont know what a Long Island Ice tea was? Why as a manager you just could suck it up and leave well enough alone?Sorry to break it to you youre not the best long Island ice tea maker. Its ok! The first step is to admit it and move on. Keep up that ignorant attitude and Ill be seeing you soon on bar rescue!! I was also very fair despite the way that I was treated, I still left a tip!
Food is Thai special chef is related with the owner so all is under strict control family business done right bathrooms innovation lavatory is outside the bathrooms as well so everybody has to wash hands that alone is raising the bar of clean to very clean. Good luck.
Excellent dining inside or out, sunset views are outstanding but the view of the Jamaica bay to NYC outstanding. Every meal outstanding all the time, from Ped & Pla wide noodle delishousness, Pineapple fried rice, all their curries, and if you are just a steak person, try theirs! Often live music, always awesome deversified crowd in Rockaway!
This is by far the WORST place iv eaten atMe and my boyfriend got seated at around 6pmish right away I asked for new silver wear and drinking glasses due to uncleanlinessGot our drinks and placed our order for our appetizer (we ordered the dumplings) and putin our order for main course pineapple fried rice and to be honest we waited 45mins for quarter size dumpling that really wasnt the greatest the table next to us got seated and was a party of 4 that got there appetizers before us if I might add at this point we ordered drinks to kinda kill time as we waited for our food the drinks came quick but still no food we waited almost an hr still and no food at this point the table OF 4 next to us was serviced AND WE STILL DIDNT GET OUR FOOD !!!! I MUST SAY THE ONLY SATISFYING THING ABOUT THAI ROCK WAS US WALKING OUT TOTAL WASTE OF TIME MCDONALDS HAS BETTER SERVICE
Ive heard great things about this place, but Ive litteraly passed by it hundreds of times & I couldnt even begin to tell you where it is. Im baffled by this place.& No Mr. Owner. I did not press a button to make this report. Someone told me about the place & I looked it up , but thanks for the help.

2022-05-20Hands Down the best Thai food in NYC. Not only is the food terrific, but the drinks and atmosphere are as well. Perfect place to sip cocktails and enjoying quality food while checking out the beautiful sunsets of Jamaica Bay with live music, what more could you ask for. Weekdays are always a more relaxed and enjoyable experience as weekends in the summer can get crazy.

2021-08-14A nice neighborhood joint. Wonderful views, friendly & accommodating staff with pretty good food, especially if you like spicy. They also have a Live Band that plays great oldies.

2021-07-01I’m giving this place 3 stars because the food was good but the waitress we had was not helpful. We asked how many dumplings you get and was told 6 but she never mentioned that you only get 6 with certain kinds. We were livid to only get 4 and only got a half butt apology from her and a giggle. The bill was astronomically high for the little stuff that we ordered. I will not be going back but the ocean view was nice outside.

2022-06-29Good is always good at this place but service could be better. We stood in the doorway for at least 1/2 hour as the host took 3 or 4 takeout orders on the phone while we waited to be seated. Someone asked us if we were waiting to be seated so we thought they were going to seat us but then he told us to wait for the host, frustrating. Bottomline, if youre not in a rush or too hungry to wait, the food and ambience are good.

2022-05-01You definitely get what you pay for with this place. Im sad that it is so expensive but Im very rarely disappointed when I order from them. I would recommend considering your spicy level when ordering and ordering one level down. Or asking for spice on the side. Me and my family love spicy food and sometimes it has been inedible because the heat was so intense. But I will say the flavor is definitely there. The vegetables are crispy and fresh and the rice is always cooked perfectly. Delivery is fast and in-house dining is beautiful at any time of the day but especially at sunset.Ive ordered from them for many years and I will continue to enjoy theyre food. Its with the price. Just know your spice tolerance.

2021-09-24Really cute place! The scenery is lovely, food is great. I didnt get to stay for the live band but my friend says theyre great! I will say it is a bit on the expensive side for thai food however Ill say that you pay more for the scenery, band etc. Its by the water so I saw some watersports nearby i.e jet skiing, small boat rides. Ill definitely come back with my friends again to get the full experience of the watersports and live band. Overall great place!!

2021-10-19$19 for this! Now, I wouldn’t have mind the price of the food if it had any flavor. Improve on the flavors add some spices and veggies come on! Not worth the price!

2021-07-03Food was delicious as always ! Portions are huge and full of flavor! The pork dumplings were hearty and truly exceptional! The chicken satay was tender and full of flavorful spices especially with the peanut sauce! The ginger pad was light and full of fresh vegetables! The pad Thai was good however I think a little more veggies can be added to this dish to update it and make it healthier! The best part as always are the jalapeño margaritas that are absolutely delicious and have the right amount of spice to leave you wanting some many more! The music last night was so much fun JJ’s Funky Groove- Fleetwood Mac , Stones , Tom Petty et al- was fun to sing along with dance too!FUN NIGHT AT THAI ROCK
