Happen to discover The Banh MI Shop accidently luckily .I have only eaten Vietnamese food once or twice before but nothing as tasty and as fresh as this. I tried the Lemongrass chicken and rice and it was succulent, very marinated and tender. You can tell there is a lot of preparation in the meal. Looking forward to trying the catfish and the Seafood Pho. Well worth trying.
Wowow we came here on he way to Connecticut. Cute town with nice attractive restaurants but good thing I was craving bahn mi!! I got short rib bahn mi and my bf got noodles with short rib. SO good. So filling. They definitely dont jip you on meat. Quality place, glad we were craving this meal! Would come again if we ever came this way lol. The sad thing Is there is no bathroom here 😔
Found my spot to get my banh mi fix whenever Im craving one. I got the grilled pork extra spicy for $7.50 and a mango bubble tea for $4.50. I have 0 complaints about the sandwich. The meat was excellently cooked, the veggies had that slight vinegary flavor with a good crunch. The jalapeños added a nice kick along with the sauces the added. If I had to knock it for anything, it would be that the bread didnt have that nice fresh flaky crispness to it but Ive only ever had it like that in Vietnam so I wont knock off any stars for that. Highly recommended if youre in the area and craving a good sandwich. Bubble tea is nothing special. Ill probably stick with a water next time.
Dine out only also cash only the pho wasn’t good in my opinion not very flavorful the I tried the viet coffee for the first time idk but it wasn’t special too me taste better once the ice melted and the banh mi was delicious I got it with cold cuts I even left it in my bag and ate it later and it was still good the place was inexpensive too all this food cost only 25 overall I would only go back for the sandwich 5/10
Passed by for first time for Lunch. Tiny space -organized as regular chines take out restaurant. I ordered a ball of Seafood PHo -$12.0. I wasnt impressed -looked dull, lacks flavour with very limited amount of actual seafood in it. I think its overpriced. Doesnt worth it. Could do much better job and smile more..
Cannot recommend this place enough. You literally can not go wrong with anything on this menu. Have been here multiple times since it first opened, but somehow the food seems to get better and better. Seating maybe tight, but once you take a bite youll know why this place is so popular. The owner and all the staff are pleasant and courteous. I would recommend the Noodle with Grilled Soy and Garlic Short Ribs. The dish is a nice balance of greens and meat with pronounced and exceptional flavors.
The food is soooo good. I could literally eat the classic prom banh mi with a runny egg on top every day. Also the bubble tea and summer rolls (with peanut sauce) are absolutely delectable.I wish they had extended hours, hopefully they will change that when things are back to normal.
This is THE best Vietnamese restaurant in the region and has awesome food from summer rolls to pho to rice dishes. We love everything on the menu, but shrimp summer rolls, vegetable/mushroom pho and lemongrass chicken rice are AWESOME. People are the nicest too. 5++++ stars!
So pleasantly surprised! We ordered Pho special and Rice with sliced grilled pork and the dishes were so delicious with full of authentic Vietnamese flavours! Lunch was so good that we even came back for dinner! You’ll be very pleased to choose this place for your next meal!!!From Canada🇨🇦
Amazing, incredible banh mi sandwiches. Even the plain chicken and rice is the most delicious tasty thing ever! Also incredible spicy mayo I put on everything! Great to dip the bomb chicken fingers in. Everything is truly delicious, Im beyond satisfied and happy every time ! The owner Len usually cooks and his amazing wife works the front, they are always super nice and I totally recommend checking their spot out.
Love this place! Have tried the fried calamari, short rib banh mi and grilled chicken with rice - everything was flavorful, fresh and delicious. Small place, nicely decorated. I have only ever gotten take out but they do have some seating. Remember that it’s cash only! One of my favorite places in White Plains.
I heard about this place on Restaurant Hunter. I thought I’d give it a try. Best decision I ever made. My husband and I went there for a snack and couldn’t believe how good the food was. It’s not a big place, but, it’s a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The owners treat you like family. They even remembered what we had on our previous visit. We’ve recommended them to plenty of our friends and family. If you’re looking for good sandwich or appetizer, please visit this place. The owners, Jen and Len, will make you feel like family. We certainly do every time we go. So if you’re ever in White Plains, and you want a treat, visit Banh Mi. Ipromise you won’t be disappointed.
I love this place. I used to come here really often when I lived nearby. Sadly, I moved and I dearly miss it. I still come back from time to time. The staff is really friendly and food is absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the vegetarian pho made with mushroom broth. It’s also vegan. The restaurant is pretty small so please be mindful of how much space you take up and how long you linger. They also only take cash, so make a stop by Chase next door. Also recommend the edamame. The bubble tea is also good.
This is a huge surprise! The shop opened recently in White Plains. Dont have much expectation but my friend said is good. We came after lunch to get some take out. We got pork chop with rice, a banh mi and a Vietnamese ice coffee. It was very authentic and delicious and they are very generous with meat. We came back the following week. Some people said is expansive in their review but I think is not with the portion and quality of their food.
Fantastic people. Fantastic food. The Bahn Mi was perfect:Bread perfectly crispyProtein (had the short rib and chicken) marinade correctly: simple, fragrant, delicious.Pickled vegetables were not overpowering and perfectly placed in the sammich.Cucumber and cilantro: YUM!Most importantly fresh Jalapenos.Cant wait to go back!
Very worth stopping by an ATM for this cash-only gem. The “very spicy” option is actually quite spicy, and they always remind me the egg add-on is runny, but that’s probably my favorite part. I tried the other sandwich and appetizer options, which are solid, but you really can’t go wrong with the original.
A welcome addition to downtown White Plains. The proprietor and staff are friendly. Order is always ready in time. Aside from the traditional banh mi sandwich, you can get short ribs or catfish among others. You can add on a fried egg and avocado. The chicken nuggets are superb. The seasoning is perfect.
Their interior is so pretty and cool I love it and food is good too. I have never eaten bahn mi before so the flavors were interesting and new to me but I am definitely going to come back. The only issue is that it’s cash only I never have cash on me so it took me over a month to try it out.
My prayers have been answered and now we have an authentic banh mi shop in Westchester.I got the regular banh mi and short rib with rice and it was soooo good. I’m Vietnamese and in Westchester there are only 2 authentic restaurants unless you want to schlep down to the city. Otherwise, everything around here is Asian fusion.I wish the packaging was different as they use paper boxes (I know it’s eco friendly). By the time you get home to eat it, the inside of the box is wet. The tasty food definitely makes up for it though!Prices are typical for Westchester and I will definitely make this my go to spot for a quick bit for authentic Viet food.
Interesting menu and good tasting food. Its a good place to get a quick bite, definitely should try summer roll. My only gripe is they dont have a restroom for paying customers or handsantizer dispenser. I found myself with sticky fingers after eating lemongrass chicken wings and no way to clean hands properly.
First time trying this today.Got the grilled chicken banh mi very spicy and my husband got the fried catfish banh mi, also very spicy. He loved the catfish, and the chicken banh mi was absolutely delicious and so fresh- I wouldnt change a thing. The lychee boba tea was also pretty great, not too sweet (I asked the server to make it less sweet).I ordered the lemongrass and garlic wings as well, however, these are made with a generous amount of fish sauce- which I do like in small amounts.Overall a treat and Ill definitely be returning.
We saw the Bahn Mi Shop on our local tv provider show called Restaurant Hunter and had to try it. We had the original Bahn Mi and thebl short rib. We also tried the sweet chilli wings and spring rolls. All the food was very good. The only thing is the place is tiny. It only has 6 chairs at counters on the wall. It can get very crowed. Well worth the visit. While we come to Westchester for Table Tennis Tournaments pretty frequently, we try out different restaurants. This time I got food from here and it is very good. You should try it here. Just remember it’s cash only.
If youve not had a Banh Mi sandwich before, it is the best sandwich you can have. Bbq meat, cucumbers, basil or some other herbs, and spicy mayo. I suggest with jalapenos as well. Pair it with a pho brisket soup for dipping. Thats a lot of food, so I usually split the soup with a friend. One of the best flavor combos Ive ever had.
Ordered the short rib bahn mi and it was delicious. The cost was a little high at $13 or so after tax and they currently dont take credit cards. There were also no sides and it wasnt particularly filling. When you compare the value at Bahn Mi shop to Iron Tomato literally across the street, Iron Tomato wins. But if you want a different sort of treat, Bahn Mi Shop is a solid choice.
I ate the original banh mi sandwich which was delicious. But I also had the chicken pho soup. I have visited different parts of Vietnam, visited several Vietnamese restaurants in the area, and i also frequently make my own chicken pho soup. The broth tasted exactly like a chinese wonton soup broth (aka pure chicken broth from a can). Chicken pho is usually prepared with fish sauce, ginger, anise, hoisin sauce, cinnamon, sugar, cardamom, coriander. All I tasted was chicken broth. Dont get the pho here.
Would not know, because the three times Ive attempted to buy something there, they have stated that they do not take credit cards yet. I dont understand how a business that caters to retail customers does not accept one the most widely used methods for retail payments and instead adds a burden to the regular customer who wishes to pay with a card.

2022-03-17As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the employees who are helpful as well. I had the catfish banh mi and the ingredients were fresh including the fish. Very tasty. I ate the other half the next day and it was just as tasty as it was on the first day. Good size for the price. I will definitely return!

2021-07-25The food here is great. I get the fried chicken Banh Mi, and it does not disappoint! In fact, it is seriously very good. The people working at this shop are also professional and kind. If youre picking up or having it delivered, both methods are good! The sandwich has been both savory and warm when I tried both ways. Love this place!

2021-11-23Food was great until I found a plastic inside of my summer roll. And they are take out only even it says dine in available. And cash only. Pho was great.

2022-04-20Having been to Vietnam on my honeymoon and having tried delicious, authentic Bahn mi during my trip...I have to say I really love this place here in White Plains. The triple spicy (spicy mayo, sriracha, and jalapenos) veggie Bahn mi with grilled tofu is my favorite go-to and my husband loves to get the one with pork! Love the bahn mi bread as well - crispy, crunchy and soft at the same time. Delicious food and the staff is super friendly. Love coming here :)

2020-09-01The sandwiches were very good. The chicken and sliced pork banh mi sandwiches were the best flavors. The sandwiches were ordered to be very spicy but was moderately spicy. The wings were ok, they were crispy and decent sized pieces. The lemongrass and garlic flavor was soso. Definitely would try the wings again but a different flavor. The bubble teas was good a bit small for $4.50. Definitely more refreshing to get it as a slush. Over all would try this place again to see all it has to offer. 05/28/2020

2018-05-12It was a nice place for a quick bite. The fried calamari was a but chewy and cut thick. The sandwiches were tasty, but Ive had better. The meat to bread ratio was not worth the money we paid (big baguette, medium portion of meat). This place will do in a pinch when you are hungry.

2021-03-16Pretty good food overall! The people working there were very friendly and patient. Very good first impression. We took out summer rolls with grilled short ribs, the original bahn mi, and grilled lemongrass chicken with rice. The peanut sauce for the rolls was heaven! We finished it even before finishing the rolls. The bahn mi could’ve been juicier but it’s for sure fresh! The grilled chicken was a little bit of a let down. Not enough kick, not enough lemongrass flavour. They really cared about the packaging, which was very neat and clean. I guess that’s why it came with a higher price compared to other similar Vietnamese eateries.

2017-11-23The classic banh mi was really good! They give you an option to choose how spicy you would like it to be. I chose very spicy and I wasn’t disappointed. Their pho wasn’t as good as other Vietnamese places. The only downside is that it’s an ONLY cash place.

2018-06-18Banh mi.......more like banh meh, I mean its a decent Vietnamese restaurant. We enjoyed the grilled short rib bahn mi & the marinated sliced pork rice dinner. Id consider this more of a take out Vietnamese restaurant, more in line with something Id get for lunch than for dinner. The biggest disappointment would be the boba. Both of our teas were fairly boring compared to their local competition. Service was also lacking

2019-06-16Pretty authentic Vietnamese comfort food in the White Plains area. We got the classic beef pho, original bahn mi, and two chicken bahm mi. They all tasted great. The prices were not too cheap but reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
