The Blue Dog in other cities:
Very nice food. Thought some of it was a bit overpriced for what it was but good food.Oddly kept playing the Greatest Showman on repeat(?), love a bit of the Greatest Showman but not on repeat throughout our entire meal.I also wish the salted caramel chocolate cake I got had been served warm, even lukewarm. It was very cold. Would come back
Small and quaint but beautiful. The staff were very welcoming and professional. Now on to the food… it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had in NYC. It’s nice to get the quality you pay and look for. The star was the raspberry white mocha, completely balanced. You get all the flavors of the raspberry, white mocha, and coffee. Will be back!
Great location. Excellent service, good food. Room to improve: terribly serviced bathroom.Greeter was very attentive. They estimated 40 minutes wait on Sunday Summer 10:30 and that was exactly right. Easy to walk around and come back when table is ready. Our waiter was also very attentive and our food was deliver quickly. Great on service! My favorite food item was the Avocado toast with a sunny side up egg. Plenty of avocado and both the bread and egg were excellent. I recommend switching fries for something else. The Florentine Bennies were also well prepared. The poached egg a bit on the over cooked side but yelk was still runny. The Huevos Rancheros were a bit spicy but definitely tasty. Watch out as they deliver them very hot and in a skillet. The French Toast was filling, with crusty top and nice caramel and maple notes. So, service and food were great... Why 3 stars? The bathroom experience is terrible. They only have 1 room. The line at times had 5 ppl waiting, which is a big waste of time and bad experience for everyone. And, once inside, then the situation is worse. Dark room, wet floor, paper in the floor. No soap! (arggg). So, this is not an acceptable service.Definitely hope they get their restroom situation improved. Id love to return and upgrade my review!
Great little place with very friendly staff, we did love the food. How amazing the French toast was, we thought that maybe the thickness of the bread would leave the inside uncooked, but it was not! The whole thing was amazing. Also the chicken and waffles I can only recommend, I love the spicy sauces on the side!!
This was my first time experiencing this restaurant in New York City. This restaurant is a small quaint but yet beautiful. The wait staff was okay. When ordering our food, it appeared the wait staff was a bit overwhelmed and rushed. When we asked about the specials we were given short quick answers. I didnt get the friendly vibe atmosphere as I did from other restaurants in New York City. We ordered the French toast which was phenomenal. I highly recommend ordering the French toast. You will not be disappointed. The only negative downfall regarding this establishment is the restroom. There is no lock on the door. I went to the restroom hoping no one would open the door due to no lock. Just my luck the door opens wide as someone was trying to come in as I was in the bathroom as well. I was very embarrassed. Please be sure and place a lock on the inside of this bathroom to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Other than that the food was excellent.
I had read lovely comments about The Blue Dog, and decided to take my daughter there for her 15th birthday. Not the best decision taken, though. Atmosphere was fine, but waiters were not especially nice. Regarding the food... we both ordered two burgers, and they were so so so dry, so bad! that we decided not to eat them after 2 or 3 bites. We were tempted to order a piece of cake, but thinking about how awful had been the experience with the burgers, we skiped dessert. Waiters having being informed of the issue with the food did not even offer another option, or even apologise. They just said this is what you get when you ask for a well-done burger. Is this comment normal?I strongly advise you NOT to go there, unless you wish to have a bad service and inedible food.
Came here without a reservation. Arrived at 10am and got seated in 10 minutes (there was a 1 hour limit at our table). This place is TINY and there’s no ample space between patrons. The food was great. Breakfast burrito was delicious and the pumpkin french toast was great, the texture and flavor was on point. The oat milk latte was okay.
We made reservations for breakfast/brunch - it was busy so we are glad we did. Service was great. Food was delicious. Menu has a great assortment and even the picky eater in our group enjoyed his food.I have not had much experience in NY. We had been looking for a quiet place to have a good breakfasty meal. Quiet it was not, I think thats just a unicorn in NYC. But it was a very very tasty meal and I would return if the opportunity presents itself.
We loved having brunch here! This place is phenomenal. The atmosphere and ambiance was warm, intimate with dim lighting inside along with some excellent oldies music. Our waiter was a very nice guy. We ordered the crab cakes and steak and eggs. Delicious! All four of us were very satisfied. The coffee was good too. We wouldnt hesitate to come back here.
We came for a pre dinner show and so we only had about an hour and a half. The menu had a good selection, we opted to try an assortment of appetizers and they were all incredible. The atmosphere was excellent, lively in all the right ways. I look forward to coming back to try more of the menu!
My boyfriend and I were visiting NYC, the Blue Dog came up on the search for breakfast in our area. It looked really good from the internet, and I just brushed off the bad reviews, but they were true. This place is way too crowded, you barely have any room to walk and you’re sitting directly next to a stranger, you also have to yell at the person next to you for them to hear you because it is too loud in this tiny space. The couple sitting across from us sat down 10 min after us, ordered after us, and received their food way before us. This was frustrating. I ordered the Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast, and instead of tasting like pumpkin, it tasted like oranges.I think this place has lots and lots of room for improvement. Although the orange flavor in the toast wasn’t bad, I would not come back to this place and I didn’t have a good experience. The environment is lively, but too lively for a breakfast setting. It is not worth the money. I’m sure the rest of the menu is good but I was not happy my entire experience here.
Came for dinner and drinks. The drinks were very good - afternoon menu has some fruity drinks with almost a smoothie consistency, and the dinner bar menu has more standard cocktails. The food was disappointing for the price. I ordered a burger medium rare, and it was overcoocked - definitely well done. I ordered Parmesan fries, and they came out as regular fries. The server was happy to replace them, but the replacement fries were clearly rushed - very undercooked and soggy.
Got their omelette for breakfast and really enjoyed it! It was very filling and quite tasty. The star of the meal was, surprisingly to me, the roasted potatoes! They were seasoned perfectly, had just the right amount of crunch to soft inside, and really elevated the dish.
✅ Good Vibes👤 Welcoming and reservation is recommended🍳Avocado toast (5/5) must order🍞 Crunchy French Toast (5/5) is recommended and the Caramelized banana is really good☕️ Americano is average🪑 Seating area is limited💲 Expensive🧼 (2/5) need a better cleaning after customers leave
The food was delicious, nice seating outside, service was so slow, like over than 20 minutes to get coffee which it was cold and didn’t taste like a good coffee for me. over an hour and a half to get the orders. But overall the staff was friendly and that made up for the delay. The food portion was really good. Recommend if you looking for brunch spot or good breakfast
I visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast. They dont take reservations on the weekend for brunch, but luckily we arrived as a couple was leaving and was seated within a few minutes and given a time limit of one hour. When I took the first bite of my dish, House Cured Salmon Platter, it had a small piece of plastic in it, which was extra disappointing for me because the meal I had at a completely different restaurant the night before had a hair in it. I showed my waiter who immediately took the entire dish to the back and then informed me that the dish would be comped and that the manager would be by to speak with me. The manager was super kind and apologetic and took my replacement order, Huevos Rancheros. I did have a few bites of the Salmon Platter before the waiter took it away and it was good, but the Huevos Rancheros was amazing and I completely cleared the pan. Before we left the manager apologized again and let us know that this has never happened before and comped the entire bill, which we werent expecting at all. Everyone, especially the manager, was so kind throughout the experience and the food and drinks were delicious, I would definitely come back next time Im in the city.
What a lucky find! We were just looking for a place to eat after 9PM, near our hotel. We were greeted with a smile and felt very welcomed. We were seated within minutes (I do recommend reservations as it’s not a large restaurant). Our water glasses were filled immediately (& were never less than 1/2 full & we drink a lot of water). The waitress was lovely, helpful and accommodating. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready. Appetizers came first - Mac n’ cheese balls - they were perfect! Our dishes were cleared & just the right amount of time before our entrees were served. All 3 of our entrees were delicious! I ordered the Asian salad (recommended by the waitress, as I couldn’t decide which salad) with chicken. It was perfection. Blue Dog is a winner all around! My daughter says I’m very particular when it comes to eating out, really I just hate paying for food that I could’ve made better & I’m a mediocre cook at best.. . I said to her “I’ve said nothing negative, only positives during our dinner!” Not to mention the perfect music & Laurel & Hardy on the big screen.I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. You won’t be disappointed.
We went the day before Thanksgiving. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and about 30 minutes to get food. Every seat was taken so it was a bit cramped but service was excellent and good was pretty good. My girlfriend really enjoyed her mimosa and our eggs were cooked perfectly.
It was super easy to make a reservation. Great location. Service amazing, starting with the hostess, and all the staff. Food was super tasty. Not to big portions, but great combination. The place is very small inside , but they have plenty tables outside. Also have a full bar. Totally recommend.
Overall: it’s all hype and no substance. There are better brunch restaurants in NYC to take your business.Service: Really slow. They might be understaffed. The food took 35 mins to come out from the time we placed the order. Also they don’t really honor reservations. We had a reservation but still had to wait 20 mins while they let those who walked in without reservations before us.Ambiance: Their outdoor area is a wind tunnel so wear a warm layer. They barely have any seating indoors so it’s likely you’ll get outdoor seating.Food: food was average. Probably cause it took such a long time. The coffee came out cold so I had to send it back.
I came here for my birthday and had a reservation for 10 people. We had to wait in line 20 minutes before a host saw us to be seated. We only had a choice of an outdoor table which was disappointing because it was so hot. There were only 9 chairs and we had 10 people so they grabbed us another chair and made it felt inconvenient for them. I had called ahead of time and asked if I could bring a birthday cake and they said yes. When I asked to put the cake in the fridge they seemed bothered. I ordered an omelette and it was overcooked and the side of breakfast potatoes- they give you like a couple of small potatoes. With a $21 omelette. IHOP gives you more potatoes. Pics below for portion. Other people’s plates were the same. When it came time to the cake, they brought my cake out in the box and placed it at the table. Normally, restaurants with GOOD SERVICE will take the cake out of the box in the back, light the candles for you and bring it out and sing happy birthday. They did not do this. They left it at the table IN THE BOX and we had to sing happy birthday amongst ourselves and cut the cake and ask them for forks (we bought our own disposable plates) they didn’t offer anything for the cake! Birthday girl had to cut her own cake and out the candles on herself. And then had to chase them down to at least bring us some waters! For a big group spending close to $500 it was the least they could’ve done. Very VERY disappointing and will not be coming back here!!
My time here at the Blue Dog was phenomenal. Brunch was absolutely delicious and the service was extremely on point! The manager Sanel was consistently checking on us and made sure our experience was memorable. It really made me and my friends feel like we were the only ones at the restaurant even though it was packed. I can’t give a better rating! Will be coming back and letting my friends know about the food and service here!
Found this place while looking for brunch on a Monday morning near the theatre district. We were seated right away (it was probably 75% full indoors but many outdoor seating options) and had a very attentive staff. We ordered the Steak and Eggs and Chicken and Waffles which were both delicious. I would definitely visit again if I was in the area!
Me and my friends were looking for a brunch spot for our trip to NYC. We decided to give Blue Dog a try. The brunch was stellar!!! The manager with the long hair and glasses was very attentive and so sweet and kind. Since brunch was so good, we decided to come back for dinner before our Broadway show. The awesome manager was still there too. I ordered the steak and it was amazing and very affordable for NYC. Definitely recommend if youre in NYC!!!!Ps. This Glen Coco cocktail is amazing!
Came on a Friday at noon. sat outdoors. The staff were all very attentive and were nice. I got the Salmon burger since it was my first time trying a salmon burger and it was good. Wasn’t anything mind-blowing but it’s okay. Went well with the beets in it. I also got a side of Brussels sprouts that was good. This place is adorable. And the layout of their outdoor seating is very unique as well. Would come back out here again. I ordered the salmon burger on the rarer side and it definitely wasn’t - was well done. But I’d still come back and would recommend The Blue Dog! :)
Definitely worth 5 star reviews. Waited 20 minutes to get in. Host was a very kind tall gentleman that seemed to be running this well oiled machine of a restaurant. We had a lovely seat for 2 near the window. We were lucky to get waiter Boris from Macedonia. He was top notch and so sweet and thoughtful. Everyone that worked here seemed to genuinely look happy. The fresh squeezed orange juice was amazing. I got the huevos con chirzo also amazing. Daughter got the French toast which was literally out...of...this...world. Who is cooking these??? You are a culinary genius. We will be back!
Perfect place for brunch with a friendly staff and cozy decor. It has music that wasnt too loud, but still loud enough to enjoy. The Eggs Benedict Florentine and the crab cakes were all done well. We also tried the French Toast and they were delicious as well. Highly recommend.
I visited The Blue Dog on a rainy Thursday, September 23rd 2020 with a friend visit from abroad. Ordered Spinach artichoke dip for $17 (dollars), which had more grease and oil in it, than actual spinach or artichokes. Dipping grilled sourdough crostini, that came with it, helped to absorb the oil… fortunately they took it back with no objections.French country chicken for $27 was instead of prepared before the service , was reheated, and, on top of all, dry.The Blue Dog has a great selection of the Fresh Pressed Juices. The “Immunize” version was switched by the kitchen to the Glorious Detox, and the waiter (not ours) tried to convince me that this juice is exactly what was ordered. The glorious waitress saved the day by actually checking with the kitchen, and they acknowledged the switch.Anyway, it was a great place to wait till the rain will pass
I’m sure you already heard everyone rave about their amazing food they got from here. We must say the food far exceeded our expectations. We collectively agreed that eating their French toast was an experience on its own.The little thing that made our experience incredible was this: by the time we noticed that our table had a wobble in it the waiter was already there to shim the table and fix the wobble. That’s excellent customer service!
Lack of service and food was undercooked. Our first lunch in NY was at the blue dog.She ordered a senor benedict, medium and i ordered a notorious d.o.g well done. Her burger turned up borderline blue and mine turned up medium, i cant eat burgers like that so sent it back whilst she put up with hers.Whilst waiting i asked for a refill of my coke which took over 10mins to get to my table oddly my server was sitting at the bar throughout on his phone and the only time i ever saw him was when he sat us down and when the bill arrived.Once i had my burger, which was now replaced with a cooked burger, it was tasty and greatly received. So in conclusion the chefs could do with a meat thermometer and the wait staff some lessons in customer service.
This place is awesome. I loved it. The food was so good and definitely worth the wait. I never had huevos con chorizo with avocado but now I will! The service was superior, they conduct themselves as a fine dining restaurant. This review was long overdue but I will definitely be coming back to this place when Im in NYC again.
Place was pretty small & in hindsight would’ve asked to get seating outside. Everything was great… cappuccino omelette chicken & waffles tater tots yum! Nothing to complain about but the size of the restaurant. If you know this going in, makes the experience that much better. Waited about 15 min before they called me after the que
The place is pretty cramped and the breakfast dishes werent that exceptional in my opinion however the pumpkin stuffed French toast really save this place. I have never had anything like this ever and I dont think I will it was so incredibly unique.I think the French toast is a misnomer because its really a really thick croissant thats crunchy on the outside with a little divot in the middle to make a nice pool of maple syrup when poured upon with the innards of a pumpkin filling that felt like it had some cream cheese or something in it.I wouldnt mind traveling to the city again just for this dessert and give the other breakfast options a chance
The restaurant has a nice ambience and is well located. The staff was very unfriendly. It was the birthday of my friend who has a severe back condition. The lady at the reception rolled her eyes because my friend took a long time to sit down. The food was not worth the money because the fries seemed to be microwaved and very mushy. As I said, the staff was very unfriendly. I wanted to give my friend the perfect birthday gift and made the wrong decision.
With carnivorous teens, omnivore dad, & vegan mom, we’re hard to please all at once. But Blue Dog delivered a simply fantastic meal for all. The buffalo cauliflower was a hit with everyone; I wouldn’t let anyone take the bowl until we could mop up the sauce with fries (recommend!). My Aphrodite burger was the best non-beef burger I’ve had. All the meat-eaters wiped their plates clean (getting a wow on the burger from the youngest was no mean feat). And the Manhattan sour was delicious; real egg-whites, not a mix. I asked the manager to open a place in Austin!
The coffee was a perfect ‘wake me up’. We walked in without a reservation and were shown the shared table for inside seating; We opted to sit on one of the tables outdoors. The service was stellar and food arrived quickly although the food wasn’t anything special to write home about. It’s definitely a place to check out at least once if you’re in the area.
One of the best brunches I had in the city! We had huevos rancheros and steak and eggs, both dishes were just excellent! I liked the place so much that I made reservations for later this week to take my wife. The line outside the place tells the whole story. Very recommended!
Came here for brunch on a whim. The place is very small, hot, loud, and you will sit directly across from other customers at a large table. Our waiter was also not that friendly. I felt out of place and not very welcomed, which I think is because I wasnt dressed up and didnt have a reservation. But the food was incredible, so I would recommend it strictly because of the food.
Tourist trap. My friend and I got the NY steak salad and the French Connection burger. Burger is regular schmegular, fries were soggy and its not worth to spend $2 extra for the additional seasoning (Shake Shack is better tbh if you want a burger). Salad was decent, steak was well done when we asked for medium. Portion size for the salad was very unfortunate. Service was good.
Went for lunch prior to a show. Seated me across from my wife because it was so crowded. Could not have a conversation. Did get repeated. Service was SLOW. Had the Philly Willy burger. Average at best. Fries were not hot. Drinks were not refilled, except for water. Tap water. Would not recommend the Blue Dog. Disappointed for sure.
Good place for casual breakfast/brunch. Service was friendly but a little slow. Crab Benedict could have used a bit more Hollandaise and the eggs were a bit over cooked if you like a rtruly unny yolk, but the potatoes were delicious and the iced coffee served in a mason jar. You cant hate that.
Good coffee!! I got the blue dog brew which was super tasty.Note: there’s a 10% covid surcharge that’s not disclosed in the beginningFood I found fairly average and, given the area, not cheap.Chicken and waffle- waffle was really chewy and bready. Chicken was small and didn’t have much flavorOmelette- okay taste. Potato’s were blandServers were nice though inattentive
We ordered two chicken and waffles. Both waffles were served cold. We ordered apps and asked for them to come out first.Everything came out together and they forgot the crab cakes. The crab cakes were really good. However, we had to convince them to bring the aioli sauce that’s supposed to come with the crab cakes. We needed to ask for water, ketchup, and sugar for the unsweetened lemonade that they did not say was unsweetened when we ordered it.We asked for the bill to be divided into 4 parties. The waitress asked us 4 times who ordered what because she messed up the bill. The manager later said she was new and was crying in the bathroom. After waiting more than 30 mins for them to unsuccessfully divide the bills, I agreed to pay in full. I demanded a discount and the manager told me he didn’t care if I posted anything on social media because they get enough traffic. He wouldn’t budge on the 10%.The rude bartender stared at me glaringly during my entire conversation with the manager. When I asked why was he minding my business, he responded he was as minding my rude business. The manager allowed him to be disrespectful to customers. Upon leaving, the manager told us to feel free not to come back.As we walked out, we noticed the manager filming us leaving.
This restaurant turned out to be the star of our 4 day trip! We had an early breakfast here and EVERYTHING about this place was spot on. The greeting was warm, our waiter was excellent, and the food and drinks were exceptional quality. I had an omelet with 5 ingredients including mushrooms and tomatoes--super fluffy, fresh and tasty. I ordered coffee, which turned out to be exactly what I needed to jumpstart my day--strong, black, and Colombian. The waiter encouraged me to try their orange juice too. Im glad I did, because it was freshly squeezed and at perfect temperature. This place will impress you--visiting cool restaurants in NYC is always a treat, and this place gets the #1 spot for this trip to the Big Apple.
Very cramped. Good music. Food was tasty but mine was served with some kind of plastic wrap in it. When I alerted the server the plate was taken away with no apology at all and there was no discount offered or applied. I understand mistakes happen, but courtesy and politeness cost nothing and go such a long way toward alleviating any resultant unpleasantness. A disappointment.
Maybe the waiter forgot to put in our order or maybe the kitchen is playing favorites. Either way we waited an hour for eggs and watched all the folks who arrived after us get their food first. Frustrating when you are hungry. Food was good, price a little high even taking into account the location and ambiance.
I understand that restaurants are short staffed and busy but my largest complaint would be the service here. A busy sunday afternoon and no one was at the host stand to greet us or the party that was there when we arrived. We waited... maybe 5-10 minutes before any staff memeber acknowledged us and when they did they seemed flustered and rushed. We were seated once a table was cleaned off and wasnt acknowledged again until maybe another 5-10 minutes before, Im assuming the only waiter came over and blandly asked us what he wanted, never even introduced himself. I told him our entire order, he repeated it to make sure it was correct and walked away. Our drinks and food came out in a reasonable time but we only saw the food runners, never our waiter so I uncomfortably asked one of them for another drink and the check. We got 4 different things. The latte was delicious, the curded salmon lox was definitely one of the best lox dishes Ive ever had super tasty and unique. The eggs Benedict was actually one of the worse ive ever had. And the mascarpone cake was very tasty.Im not mad at the staff at all, I think the resturant or whoever manages this place needs to either pay the employee more so they are more able to greet and at least fake be happy to see customers or lower the work load/hire more servers.Overall not a bad experience, but may not return unless I get a craving for that lox dish.
Woo Hoo! This place knocks it out the park in every category. Service is fabulous. Everyone is really kind, and efficient. Best experience I’ve had in awhile. Then you hold your breath and hope the food lives up to it. Right? Well, the food is reason enough to go. Fresh, great portions and well plated. I ate every bite! Another reason I love my neighborhood. Come thru.Oh! And they play black and white films as you dine. Genius!
The place is small but cozy. The music is great and the staff is very kind. I came for the brunch and the food was amazing. Very delicious! The food was ready very fast as well. There is a huge table at the middle of the restaurant, but my impression is the place is good for couples, small groups and single ones looking for a peaceful place to read a book, have a small talk while have a good meal.
Everything about this place was cramped and stressful. Jam packed, low ceilings, dark, elbow to elbow tables - it was impossible to spend a minute there without worrying about covid. We asked to switch outside even though we had seen an open table. When we told them we wanted to leave due to health concerns (we had not yet ordered) they gave us a hard time.
A must visit!! The chicken and waffles were DIVINE. I cannot rave enough about them, and I’m from the south so I know what I’m talking about when I say this is one of the best I’ve had. The huevos rancheros were also super flavorful and yummy, so so satisfied with both our dishes. Cozy, intimate ambience, really friendly staff, and excellent food.
Our one breakfast in NYC we chose Blue Dog Kitchen Bar and we don’t regret it! We arrived just as they opened which was perfect as we wanted a place open at 6am! It’s a very small place and has a much more interesting vibe than I expected. Staff was friendly and attentive.I ordered the grilled avocado Benedict and my husband had a tailored omelette. The Benedict came with a lot of food. The potatoes were the best part! Super flavorful. The hollandaise sauce on top of the Benedict was too thick for my taste. The small bunch of greens on the side was nice to break the meal up. My husband had no complaints with his omelette. Service was fairly quick considering we were the first people there.A small one stall bathroom is available which was nice.
Beautiful restaurant. Visually pleasing. It is small for someone that’s from out of town, but they use the space very efficiently. Service was excellent...everyone was our waiter...even our Maître’d. She is top notch and made sure that the front end of the restaurant ran smoothly. Our food was excellent. Our drinks were superb. I was impressed being that we simply walked up with our suitcases and wanted a bite to eat. No reservations or anything. It was a full house and we were seated in minutes, our bags were whisked away to be stored while we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. I have *zero* critiques. My only suggestion is to make a reservation if you can to help them out in making your experience as wonderful...or somehow more wonderful...than ours.
My friend ate medium rare hamburgers here and he had terrible food poisoning. The waitor asked him how hed want the meat to be cooked and because he thought it is like steak, he said medium rare. However the staff was very unknowledgable and did not inform him of the several health risks that is associated with medium rare burgers ( which we found out later is requied by law). Burgers meat should always be cooked well done because it does not equate to steak!!!!
Highly highly recommended, visited this place three days in a row! The brunch here is incredible and it is always busy, but they have seatings right away, so I would recommend to call ahead and book an appointment if you dont wish to wait 10-20 minutes on average. My orders: Crunchy French Toast, The Benedict- Traditional, Homestyle Chicken N Waffles, my sides were always turkey bacon (all ordered on different days), and for the drinks Ive tried the signature blue dog brew and the charlie brown peanut butter mocha. Everything I ordered was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing, so I would recommend them all.
This place is cute and cozy. Our waitress was friendly and recommended a delicious beer for our friend. I give it 4 stars because the food is fine. My friend and I had the quesadillas and the oil was dripping everywhere so I couldn’t finish it. My other friend had the Japanese pan which looked really good but was $30. I think it’s worth at like around $22 for what she got. Overall we had a good experience.
My husband and I visited for brunch this past weekend. What a neat little place! The hostess did a great job of managing the groups waiting and entertaining us. Once we were seated, the food was excellent! My husband had a custom omelette and I had the pumpkin stuffed french toast. Both were excellent! They had a wide selection of teas, which made me excited as a dedicated tea drinker. We will definitely be back!
Very nice service. A little hidden but very busy and cozy spot with long tables and some smaller tables. Also a full bar is running, seats at the bar as well.Menu has a huge variety and customizable choices as well. You can pretty much create your own omelette from meats to cheese to veggies etc. Eggs Benedict is a little drier than usual but still good taste.
Came across this place when doing a quick search in time square. We were more than pleasantly surprised when we walked in. A very small, quaint restaurant, with a great atmosphere and massive menu. The cocktails we order were fantastic and the mussels we had to start, were great. The wings were hearty and done nicely, and the salads were perfect size with fresh ingredients. Would highly recommend this place.
We came here for breakfast on a Friday morning at 7am. Smaller place but wasn’t loud and was cozy. My wife and I both ordered the grilled avocado Benedict. Food was pretty good, but not worth the $20 a plate in our opinion. Service was fantastic and they were extremely nice.
Went for Brunch with my teamies after run. When they said outdoor Sitting I thought it was on streets but to our surprise it was hidden outdoor like an alley. Every dish seemed tempting so asked the server for recommendations and he recommended salmon burger which was amazingly delicious. The salmon was grilled to it’s perfection it just melted in my mouth. Truffle fries were good too and hibiscus drink was yum. It was worth the price. Wanna go again to try rest of the menu. Everyone seemed nice & friendly.Update: went in again for brunch after my virtual NYC marathon. Chicken & waffle was yumm with dirty hot chocolate to pair with. Can’t wait to go back again.
This place is a tiny little place but the wait wasn’t that bad~20 min.And even if you need to wait, you can simply hang out at the open space next to it where you could grab a coffee. There are chairs where you could sit and relax.Once we got seated, the waiters are really nice. My friend dropped some sauce on her dress and the server quickly gave her club soda to clean that stuff. He was kind.Prices for the drinks/food seems quite high.. for the coffees and smoothies. For example- the cappuccino there is for $7. That’s just insanity!!! For food I think Atleast a $20 dish fills you up very well.We both got Huevos Rancheros- it’s presented very well on a skillet 🍳... it tasted great as well!!! Recommend it except for the fact that I found a hair strand in it while I was on the verge of finishing my dish. Even though I liked everything about the place but couldn’t get my mind off of the hair thing. So really, I request all the chef in the restaurant to be more careful.
Omg! I only came here because toloache couldnt seat us. How lucky i am to have discovered this place. The fried calamari is the best in nyc! The margaritas here are probably top 3 in nyc! The panko burger was amazing! A beef burger cooked then dipped in breadcrumbs / panko then fried. The artichoke dip was a cheesy goey mess! 😂😘😛😍 A little bit pricey but hey, the food is spectacular! 🏆🌹 🏆🌹🏆
Small intimate place. It was pretty busy at 930am when we arrived. Waited 20 minutes for our table but, it was worth it. Charlie Brown coffee - espresso, peanut butter mocha(delish). Service is very friendly and quick.Chicken and waffles - Delicious!Totally recommend this place.
Wonderful experience. Easy booking through Seated. Waiters were very accommodating when I wanted something that wasnt on their Sunday brunch menu. Food was delicious, you must try the truffle Mac and Cheese. Nice ambience and attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely return.
5 stars for the food and drinks!!! I ordered the Bondogge and my girlfriend got an old-fashion, both were great but I was so happy with my choice!!! For dinner she ordered the cheesus Christ burger and I ordered the goddess Aphrodite burger…. We were not disappointed!!! I highly recommend giving the place a try! We decided to sit at the bar, some of the tables didn’t give much room. It worked out great though, the bartender was wonderful!!
The Blue Dog is a small restaurant but my overall experience was good. Service was a bit slow but overall, I would recommend for anyone looking for brunch! The avocado eggs benedict was delicious but next time I will probably go for the traditional. I saw another table get the chicken and waffles, which looked amazing! Holidays drinks were very tasty as well.
Managed to get a table for six on Christmas! The service was awesome, but the food was hit or miss. While the vegan burger wasn’t really flavorful, the quesadilla, pumpkin toast, omelet, and salmon were good. The place was also PACKED—could have used more seating room, as we had to constantly scoot in to allow passage in between tables. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Didn’t try the bar, but it also looked busy.
If you like bad acoustics and bumping elbows with strangers seated at the same table as you while you shout to hear the person you actually came with then this is your place. It’s meant to be trendy but got lost in translation in our opinion. Food was incredibly mediocre. We spent 5 days in NYC and ate everything from fine dining to street food and this was honestly our most-and only- disappointing food. Presentation was nice but a bit bland and my crab cake was overdone. Service was also mediocre mostly due to the chaotic setup although the staff was friendly.
Great little cafe in NY. Service is always great and food is fresh and delicious. I love their omelettes (eggs cooked perfectly). Close enough to walk to from pier 39 and touristy area without the crowds and expensive foods. Have been several times when visiting and will be back. Blue Dog is often there greeting customers. You can tell this is a business the owner takes pride in. Love it!
Waiter Robert is making NYC Great Again with his humor and class, please tip him a lot! Ordered Turkey Bacon Omelette with pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, green peppers and tomatoes. Red potatoes also came with the meal. (Roasted Turkey was not available). Also had a Valencia orange juice. My cousin had Benedict Crab Cakes. The meal was hot and delicious. Very cozy place where IDS and vaccination cards were verified at the door. We sat in the light of course. The place seemed very family orientated, large center seating was available for large families of about 12 to 16. They were out of the Immunize mixed juice drink ironically. You would think thats the top drink to match your vaccination status?
Delicious and fun! My friends and I went at their busiest hour for brunch on a Saturday, and luckily we didn’t have a super long wait (woo!). We had to provide proof of vaccination and our IDs at the door, so I felt safe being indoors in a small, intimate space with a lot of unmasked people. The only thing was that I definitely felt rushed out of there. They had a 60 minute table limit and they definitely hurried us along. The waitress took my plate away without asking and before I was finished :( It’s a fun, cozy spot—just be ready to EAT and not dilly dally if you’re brunching.
Affordable pre-show dinner spot. Cozy and intimate restaurant, would not recommend if you are nervous about social distancing. Not touristy at all.We got burger and short rib. Both cooked well, but just slightly missed the mark on being excellent.Cocktails felt hit or miss. Had a Manhattan that was watered down because they served it over ice. Old Fashioned was good and GF loved her Campari cocktail. Espresso Martinis were just ok.
My wife and I came here for dinner while in the city for a show. The food, the atmosphere and the staff were amazing. Hands down one of the best burgers Ive ever had, and I dont say that lightly. The burger was cooked perfectly, like the chef had spent his youth only cooking beef patties. The flavors were paired perfectly and the portions followed suit. My wife had a salad that she wouldnt stop taking about, I dont know anything about salads but it got high praise from her. You cant go wrong here, some reviews think maybe you can. If youre critiquing restaurant workers durning a pandemic, stay home and cook yourself! Enjoy!!
This is the second time we’ve been here and wow, it’s been excellent both times. Friendly and attentive wait staff and a cute classic-chic French bistro type of environment (in my opinion). Out of anywhere we’ve had brunch in NYC - this place is the best… Also, we sat at the bar and the bartender was great. He’s the reason I’m leaving a review - really made the meal a 5 star experience.
We came after 11 so that we could have both the brunch and lunch menu. I had a Charlie Brown which was espresso, peanut butter mocha and was delicious. I couldnt decide between a Benedict or burger so had the Señor Burger which had a poached egg, hollandaise, and chorizo on a burger. It was super scrumptious. My friend got the grilled avocado Benedict which basically had a whole avocado with the tips lopped off, not just slices. My other friend had the Notorious D.O.G. and we all enjoyed our food. Service was very prompt and friendly.
The food was delicious, had traditional eggs Benedict and also Senor Benedict both were tasty . The home fries that came with were fantastic . Loved the touch of some fresh salad. The sauce that came with the burger was amazing . The pretty young thing and the flower bomb were a great drink for a Sunday brunch . !! I want to give a shout out to the hostess Sam (sami, samantha ) you were amazing handled the crowds well and also spot on with the wait time . Eric our server was efficient, and accommodating , friendly . Thank you for a delicious time . will be back to try the stuffed French toast next time !!
Called to inquire about reserving a table. The lady advised me over the phone that they don’t take reservations on weekends. NEVER specified that she was speaking about lunch. When I and my party of 5 arrived for dinner at 4:30 I was told I needed a reservation. When I tried to explain about what I was told I was met with a cold rude and unapologetic hostess. Not a friendly establishment.
We were in NYC for 5 days and of all them we decided to come here for breakfast since the first time we tried this place, Juan took care of us very well, great service amazing food, this is the only place in town where they have brunch until later in the afternoon, you won’t regret it if you come here, don’t waste time looking for breakfast places, if you’re staying in Times Square this is the right spot, Enjoy!
The oldest known depiction of juggling, it turns out, comes from Ancient Egypt. As I waited for my exceptionally delicious salmon burger, I pondered whether that fact merited watching almost 3 hours of cavorting balls during Phillip Glass’s “Akhenaten” at the Met Opera. A short cab ride or a 15 minute walk away, The Blue Dog let us escape the post-perfomance crowd at similar restaurants like PJ Clarkes and The Smith. Away from the droning score, sitting outside in the Blue Dog’s quiet, shady arcade, I dipped a fry into horseradish aioli, crunched into a thinly sliced sour pickle, and sipped from a pleasantly tart Arnold Palmer—my very own juggling act.5 stars for the food; 3 for the opera.
Wonderful breakfast on my last morning in New York. I had the Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast, and it was unlike any other french toast Ive had--shaped almost like a volcano with molten pumpkin filling and a delicious berry compote adding just the right touch. We were seated without a reservation, but it was pretty busy for a weekday morning and Id definitely make a reservation for an evening or weekend.
A friend who lives nearby suggested we meet at The Blue Dog for lunch when the restaurant we wanted to go to wasnt open yet. The food and drinks are good, but having been here several times, I was disappointed that I had to ask the server twice to fix a wobbly table. On another visit, I requested hot sauce for my eggs, but the sever never brought it.
If a could give 0 stars I would.I was miserable with the customer service at this restaurant. The weather in New York today around 11:40 am was 32F and a windy day, it was inclement, this restaurant is located in a corridor where the breeze current is very strong, because they do not have a reservation system or a sitting waiting area, you are forced to wait in until they texted you.Despite all the above, they are not successful in waiting times, after 45 min (that the host told me it would be my waiting time), I decided to talk to her, meanwhile, one of the waiters saw my frustration after I explained the time I spent waiting and the weather outside, he was compassionate and told to the hostess to help us, she told me that I still had to wait because there were 2 other groups ahead of us, and told me to go to starbucks across the corner, really???? Is that the way this place take care about customer? She was too rude. If you dont want to experience this frustration, I recommend you not go.
Got dinner at this cozy, little place yesterday and it was a great experience. The decor was just right for a quiet dinner. We ordered the veg quesedilla, the sweet potato soup and the roasted chicken and they all turned out to be great. The tea collection is worth a shot too if you are keen. The server was extremely nice, pleasant and kind enough to make suggestions that turned out to be amazing. Good food, great service, nice ambience. Recommended!
Im in love. Yes, it was crowded. Yes, it was noisy. Yes, you must arrive with all members of your company, otherwise you will not be seated before (what is fair). Yes, like in France you seat side by side with other people always touching each other with your elbows & shoetoes. But! Staff is amazing, food is simple, but amazing, coffee (I had salted caramel latte w black sea salt)... mmmm... Yes, amazing (perfect size as well)! Despite of a huge amount of visitors (place was full) guys serve quickly, never miss & food get prepared no longer than 10 min, which is amazing (& even if they mess up with your order, what happened with a couple next you me, they change it quickly, apologize 1000 times & bring you complimentary smth)!:) Solid 5! Definitely come back for french toast & check if it has the same crowd during week days (its Sunday today, I attended around 1.30 pm)
We were here for breakfast on Sunday morning, early, which was one of the search filters, also they were close to our hotel. The staff was welcoming, but the first round of coffee was lukewarm, though subsequent refills were hot. I liked the chorizo egg scramble and Eric enjoyed his huevos rancheros. Overall, good but not great.
We ended up here because the wait for Stardust was crazy long. This place did not disappoint though. It was still very good.I had the chorizo scramble and I crushed it. Its not a large space, and we also didnt have to wait very long. Its a solid option if youre in the area.
Im not sure how they pulled this off given the crowd, but the service was just impeccable. Very attentive, very friendly, timing of everything was spot on. Only reason for not going with 5 was they could use some some more seasoning/bold flavors but that will not prevent me from coming back.
20 minute wait for a table, which was fine, but then 25min to wait for someone to attend to us, after I flagged someone down. The coffee then came and was an incorrect order, a further 10 minute wait, then the food came after 30 minutes. The food was rather nice but the service was poor. The management requires improvement.
Stopped by here for brunch as it was nearby.Pro- great coffee & latte- pretty big portion (very filling)- my waitress was very kind :)Con- service slow as they are very busy during brunch time (made a reservation)- food was average (got eggs benedict)- hated their english muffin... bland, and rough texture
Had brunch at the blue dog this morning, and it was absolutely amazing. I ordered the chicken and waffle, a hot coffee, and a side of bacon. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, because the portions are huge! I was served by Zachary, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. He was very friendly, and attentive, and was good company as I dined alone today. I will DEFINITELY be back to the Blue Dog, and will request to be seated in Zachary’s section. 5/5 stars... would definitely recommend.
Quaint restaurant/bar just off the beaten path. Space is limired but the quiet, low lit atmosphere is enticing and romantic. Prices are moderate for NYC. My braised short ribs were good and tender and my wifes Ceasar salad with chicken was a large tasty helping. Reservations recommended!

2022-07-25My experience was great, went here on a Sunday for brunch to wrap up a birthday girls trip. The place was intimately seated, we sat at the family style table in the center. Our food was amazing! The crunchy French toast, steak and eggs, and Buffalo Cauliflowerwere so delicious! The service was also great, very friendly staff. I will definitely add this to regular places to eat on my next visit to NY.ThanksReese

2022-07-14A beautiful location for a restaurant. The outdoor seating is in a breezeway of the Worldwide Plaza which kept the customers cool from the summer sun. The service was relatively quick although a bit disorganized. The Cobb Salad was pretty flavorless but the Asian Salad was very good. Fries were soggy but okay. Decent restaurant for before a Broadway matinee.

2022-07-29We had a nice pre-theater meal at The Blue Dog. Food was great. We really liked the Notorious DOG burger with butternut squash fries. Make sure to get the butternut squash fries whatever you order. The butternut squash kale salad was also a big hit.The drinks were more hit or miss. The Blissful Barcelona combined tequila and port into a unique drink that I highly recommend. The Glen Coco gin drink was an experiment that should never have made it to the menu. The Saint Citron drink came incompletely mixed so the first half was not so good but the second half enjoyable. The server was stretched too thin and not particularly good at recommending options. But, the owner / host stepped in a few times to help the server so in total our experience was good.

2022-06-23Its gorgeous place. The staff is very professional, kind and quick. The food is delicious and the prices are not completely out of touch with reality. The only problem is that you probably want to try too many items as they all sound delicious, but if you arent a competitive eater youll probably have to come back a few times ;) I certainly will come back!

2022-08-13You GOTTA eat here. Maybe it was the timing, weekday 2pm, but the service, food and drinks were all on point. The Pollo Loco burger was SUPER. Fresh, piping hot and the flavours were just perfect. (Skip the bacon maybe). While we sat inside, the vibe outside was great too. Brunch 100%

2022-06-12Strange little place with seriously delicious food. Choose outside —- it’s kinda “inside”. Inside is SMALL with a high probability that you will in some way involved with people waiting for bathroom that is in middle of restaurant. That said, the food was really delicious. We had the dumplings to open and shared the Notorious D.O.G. burger that was cooked to perfection.

2022-06-01Pretty okay to solid brunch spot in a good location without it being too crowded. The inside is pretty cramped but the outside is spacious. The food is about a 3/5 but the staff is 5/5, super attentive and kind. I wanted to know what grilled avocado was and now I can rest easy.

2022-08-15The Hostess was very nice and friendly and the atmosphere was very upbringing! The problems started once we were seated. After our server took our order we only saw them 2 other times. One was when we asked for three more pairings of silverware because we were three short, but the server never ended up bringing them so we had to ask the worker who brought our food for them. Our water glasses were consistently empty and our food took 40 minutes to come out. The food had a great presentation, but the taste for the most part was sub par. The two dishes that did stand out was the chicken and waffles and Huevos Rancheros. I’m not sure if that was just a fluke experience, but for the price of everything and the amount you have to wait for your food I will not be returning.

2022-03-12Came for brunch. Small space but they really pack folks in so it is a little cramped when people are walking around. I got the chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious and fluffy. SO got the crab cake Benedict and it was bland. Service was good given how busy they were at the time. I was told by the hostess there was a one hour time limit which makes sense with the space so maybe not the place to hang for a while, but would recommend if you’re close by!

2022-05-17Everything was great except for the coffee! (It was just not hot enough for me) Loved the vibe inside, and the waiter was nice enough to let us sit inside when the table opened up. Saw people constantly coming in in the morning so maybe go early.
