Not sure how else to rate molded dessert? We got a couple rounds of drinks, 3 appetizers, 6 entrees and 5 desserts.. overall, everything was mediocre... but fast forward to dessert, I thought my tiramisu tasted sour and didn’t want to be a bad sport but a 3rd of the way through, realized the “frost” wasn’t evaporating so I took my tinted sunglasses off to further inspect what I discovered to be MOLD. The server nonchalantly said he would take the charge off the bill. No apology, no offer to get us a round of drinks or take something else off the bill to compensate for the bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Won’t be recommending this place to any of our friends...
This place is a dream come true. New to the barrier island this is life the way it should be Covid and all. Great food great staff led my the fearless leader Bartender Jack the Whack..fresh seafood and a patio to die for.... Are you still here? What are you waiting for👏
A hidden gem by Point Lookout with beautiful views, good food and drinks. A sunset is a must see from this location and is usually by 730-8pm. Parking is tight but valet does a great job finding a spot. The wait for a table gets long after 7pm so the earlier you flock in the better.
We arrived at 3 pm on a Friday. Parking was very limited so we had to park further out. When we walked in, we weren’t guided or greeted at all; we didn’t know where the hostess was located. We found a sign and found the hostess around the corner inside the establishment. We were seated, and ordered drinks and food. We ordered a marg, Miami Vices (pictured), and a strawberry daiquiri; the marg was the best one out of all of them, the others had barely any liquor in them unfortunately. For food, we ordered the crab cake bacon grilled cheese, fried cod tacos, classic lobster roll and lobster sliders and overall the food lacked in taste, it was just very bland. The best dish out of them was the crab cake bacon grilled cheese, the aioli and cheese added some flavor. Also upsetting that they only serve 2 tacos and not 3, considering it’s $17. The tacos were filled with lettuce (as seen in the photo) We had a male server and he wasn’t very attentive and seemed to rush us. Another thing worth mentioning is that they charge a 3.9% for credit card charges and they don’t accept tips by credit cards, so make sure to carry cash on you. Overall, we were looking forward to checking this place out, but probably wouldn’t go back.
Service was good, our server Stephanie (if I am remembering her name correctly :-)) was very friendly and courteous, she checked on us periodically. The food was excellent! Non greasy! Non oily! Non salty! When you go here try the shrimp dumplings and the coconut sorbet (everything we had was tasty). Thank you Buoy for helping to make my birthday special. Loved the rainbow cake!!
Awesome ambiance but we were kicked out of our table right at 1 hour even though we were not told of a time limit. We were finishing a bottle of wine that we ordered but were asked 3 different times if we were done. Understandable that there’s a wait on a Saturday evening but we patiently waited for our table and we’re met with rudeness. Food was also good and again, ambience is dope. But service is nothing special. We were not told about specials or met with any friendliness.
Nice atmosphere. Very pretty views. We ordered clam chowder and Manhattan chowder very goodThe dinner wasn’t great. We ordered fish and chips. Fish was soggy and the French fries were not fresh but frozen. We also tried the appetizer of tuna with guacamole. It was very bland
Just had another fantastic brunch at Buoy Bar!! Love this place!! Never sure which is better the comfortable relaxed atmosphere, the view, the food or the service!! Today was no exception. Our server Kayla - the best. The food was excellent and the service top notch. Loved the lobster salad over a salad !! Can’t wait to go back!!!
We were at the restaurant last week for lunch and had a good experience, so we decided to return again today.Unfortunately, it was not an enjoyable lunch and we won’t be returning anytime soon.We were given a time limit before we even sat down and we were told that one of our guests would not be seated if she arrived late.We were hovered over to rush us out at least 6 times during our lunch. An attempt was made to remove our plates before we were finished. When three people are spending $100.00 for lunch , they should be able to enjoy it.While you food is good, your front end people leave a great deal to be desired when it comes to welcoming hospitality.Pr. Lookout Clam Bar and Jordan’s lobsters offer food that is equal to or better than yours and they far surpass you for courteous behavior.
Just OK food and service...a nice casual outdoor place. Plan to open year round, 7 days a week. Did not like the overly breaded stuffed clams I ordered Also, parking is a big issue here ...they seem to have eliminated the valet parking so you are on your own. Have to think twice about going back.
Been here a few times. Pretty average bar food on the water. Brought 2 clients there last week so hostess sat us at a table with 4 seats. They don’t take reservations. We mentioned we may have a 4th person join us later. They told us that our entire party had to be there and we are unable to add anyone else to the table later on. Even though we had an extra seat. Frustrating and ridiculous so we left and went next door to the Clam Bar and had a fantastic time. There were a few other examples of “rules” that didn’t sit well with me. Another example is that they don’t allow you to put the umbrella up to block the sun or lower it to get some sun to the table. Just silly frustrating rules. Not worth being aggravated. And trust me…you will be if you have similar run ins with staff.Overall not a horrible place but you can do better both food wise and customer service wise going to the restaurants next door to them.
I was visiting from out of town, and the buoy bar was recommend to my family from a local. We waited for a long time, which is okay because it was busy. From the very beginning the owner (Roberta) was miserable and nasty to our family. She not only was rude and unpleasant, I Listened to her talk to her staff horrifically. She put them down, and yelled at them the entire time. The food was average, but not worth the treatment. I will never be back, and will also spread to the word to my local friends to never return.
Go there for the view, not for the food. Not to mention the horrendous prices. I found this spot using Google, and there was a picture of the menu from 4 years ago showing the fish & chips at $16. Now, it’s $22. That’s a price jump of 7,8% a year. Employees working there are lucky if their wages increased by that much year over year!
Been here many times live in Long Beach. Last week Went on a date night got told 1 hour wait (no problem) got a buzzer to tell when my table would be ready and waited outside in the car for the buzzer to go off. Goes off, we make our way to the hostess to find out our table was given away due to them thinking we left(traded the buzzer for my drivers license an hour earlier, again no problem) was told we had the next table. Hostess then sits another party of 2 before us and I go ask her what that’s about since we “are next” and she said they are before us because they made their reservation as a party of 3 even though only 2 of them showed up they still had priority (All the tables for groups under 4 are the same) . Finally I traded my buzzer back for my drivers license after an hour and a half with no table, no food and lies from the hostess. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend without hours of time to kill, not worth the wait when I have ate there views are great tho. If you do go and get a buzzer make sure to be very close to the hostess she has an extremely fast trigger.
Went here for a Birthday and this place is awesome! We reserved a globe and had the best time! The Service, food and drinks were great and the staff was so kind! They even accommodated us extra because we had a vegetarian in our group (without us even asking!). We had the best time! Amazing place to go!
STAY AWAY !!!!! If i could give 0 stars I would. Just wanted to share an experience my sister had tonight at Buoy Bar tonight. Her and her husband get there and were told they could be seated right away so she said ok no problem i am just going to run to the bathroom. (She is 7 months pregnant) She comes back out 2 minutes later and was told her table was given away because its first come first serve. She explained she was there but she ran to the bathroom quick. She was then told there was another table available so she said fine my husband is walking in now he just dropped me off since I’m pregnant and went to park the car. He gets in and they told me they gave away that table too because her “whole” party wasn’t there and it’s first come first serve. Terrible service and extremely rude hostesses... will never ever be going there.
This has been the best dining out experience since Covid started. Seating on the deck over the water was wonderful. There is enough seating so its not a long wait at all. Watching the sun set over the water was awesome and so was the food. Priced right and the service was great.
Best place, hands down, im sorta local, but if i wasnt i would still come here, as many of my friends have said n do. The staff is phenomenal, absolutely love each and every bartender, and thats hard to say. The view is what seals the deal, but dont just come for that, you have to have a drink or two, and some of the excellent food. Adults and kid friendly!!!
Wonderful location. They took all the necessary precautions for COVID, and made it all very easy and comfortable. I wish they took reservations during this time because its usually a ln hour wait or so. You can get drinks while you wait though. Food is fantastic and the staff is always so friendly, highly recommend.
I have lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years. Bouy used to be a great place. But successively each season seems to get worse staff wise. The food is always very good. But in particular one staff member, a blonde woman who seems to float around and do all jobs (I think the Matriarch of the family/owners) is progressively more rude each year.My advice is to try PV Alehouse or Hennegans. At least they appreciate my patronage and dont treat customers like dirt.
My boyfriend and I put our names down for an hour wait. After waiting for 30 minutes we checked in with the host for an update. She confirmed the wait was still going to be another 30 minutes, but since tables were available she recommended us order food at Scotty’s, the restaurant on the side of their building. The host claimed it was the same kitchen, we just wouldn’t be sitting on the water. My boyfriend and I then took our names off the of the list to get food from the other restaurant. We immediately went to order and were informed the items we wanted were not available since their kitchen was a ‘limited menu’. We then immediately went back to the host who we spoke to originally to ask to put our names back down and were informed we would now have to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours for a table. We love the food here, but terrible service.
The food was very good. They asked us to leave after 1 1/2 hours. They literally just took the plates away. Will I go again? I was thinking I would but I am not sure now. Also there is no parking on the streets. They have to park the car. In time I really dont want them parking my car. They go from one car to the other with the same gloves (protecting them)
Off season, so keep in mind. Great views, attentive service. The food was a little hit or miss. We had the crab cakes appetizer, the texture was dense and they wee overly heavy. Too much filler, not enough crab. The lettuce served with it was at the very edge of acceptable fresh. The tacos were fine, the flavor was there but the out of the package shells were a big letdown. Warming them up and /or steaming them would have been a big improvement. Not terrible, not great. We will give them another chance.
Where do I begin. We understand that it’s a long wait because it’s a popular place as it’s small and local . I waited for over an hour and then the forecast stated rain. I then waited another 20 minutes before I WENT TO THE manager and asked if they had plans of seating for the evening or no. The manager stated they they DID NOT. I then asked if they had plans on letting customers who are waiting inside the bar following the CDC recommendations to socially distant as well as wear masks. The manager stated no you must stay outside. They are also rude and unorganized. A couple sat at a table after walking in and I was told to wait for 1 hour and 30 mins. I was patient and respectful but this is unethical. If you want to eat somewhere that the staff is respectful this is not the place. I will never return after driving over an hour to eat here! VERY SAD.
Terrific place!! Not only do they have fantastic atmosphere with (2 awesome little Beaches, one for adults, one for families) a picture perfect view of the bay with a great sunset! But they have delish food and great drinks! Friendly staff and you could not feel more at home, or at a perfect beachy place to enjoy!
Everyone here is so attentive coming over every 6-7 mins to make sure that we were good! The food was delish and the atmosphere to die for. The prices were definitely convenient. The hostess sat us in the open table where we can see the beach. The experience here was unbeatable
Horrible experience. Docked here this past weekend for lunch, a party of six. We were told there was a 1 hour wait. We asked if we could order food to go. The aloof hostess said we could only order food to go from the bar downstairs which had a very limited unappealing menu of only mostly fried stuff and salad. We decided to try our luck at the restaurant next door and as we were walking toward there, a very nasty owner/bouncer came running after us telling us we couldnt go to the restaurant next door unless we moved the boat to their slips! We told him we came to eat at buoy bar but we couldnt wait an hour and we didnt like their take out menu. He was totally unaccommodating and basically threw us off the property like we were criminals! Everyone in our party has been to buoy bar before, by land; but I speak for everyone in my party when I say that after the rude way we were treated, none of us will ever return. Upon reflection, while the atmosphere may be a big draw, the food, service and attitudes leave a lot of room for improvement! We went to Jasons Lobster Farm and there is just no comparison. The food, atmosphere and service were not to be beat! Buoy Bar did us a big favor by turning us away...
Great outdoor setting on the bay with fantastic views and sunsets. The menu had gotten better over the years. Fish tacos and the quasadia are sure bets. The service is great as well. There is the main seating area out back with waitress service and a side seating area where you can order your food and pick up at the window. Pretty much the same menu items are available but just a bit limited.
I had the experience of dining here about one year ago. The experience was not so good and I was just looking over some photos that I took and had forgotten to leave a review. In a nutshell the place looked fine, but I went during the early afternoon and sat at the bar. I ordered a drink and then was wanting to order some food. I was told by the bartender that because they were busy they were not serving food to customers at the bar.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣What?????I worked in resteraunts from the age of 17 until 30. Cook ,waiter, manager. I have never in my life heard a kitchen say they were too busy so they were omitting a group of customers. Left a bad taste in my mouth and I never went back. So thats it. I never had a chance to taste the food because they refused to serve me any. Lol. Anyway. I wont be back.
The Bouy Bar is my go to spot. Awesome bar and establishment.Amazing spot for the summer with in/outdoor seating. The colder months are just as nice(cold weather with summer views)There is a beach area where you can hang and have drinks, but you cannot be seated on the beach to have food (for the people giving 1 star reviews because they expect the staff to bring a table and chairs down to the beach for them).Family friendly and the beaches are even split for adults and children which is great. Parents can bring their children and can still get that much needed break on the beach with one of the many amazing cocktails the Bouy has to offer. The bar food is delicious. The large pretzel is so so good and more than enough for a family to share. Wings and chicken tenders are delicious as is pretty much everything on their menu. They are always packed so be sure to make a reservation. Free valet parking (which you will need if your drive. No parking in town) If you don’t make a reservation at least you can have drinks on the beach while you wait for your table.Thank you Bouy for yet another amazingsummer!
Probably the best place in the area when you take into consideration the waterfront vibes + quality of food & drinks. Arrive early though and plan to grab a drink at the bar while you wait to get seated. This place is always deservingly packed every night of the week.
I often take my friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go their often. This recommendation is always successful. The meals are appetizing and the crew is very friendly and cooperative. always when we go to this place we pass a splendid time. I warmly recommend this restaurant.
Despite the food was delicious the wait staff was very friendly the hostess was less than accommodating. It was 90° out we got seated in the sun we order appetizers and drinks and plan to order more food, when we saw a table with an umbrella leaving. We ask the hostess if we could sit there instead as our 5 year-old son was very uncomfortable. The hostess would not move us. We even said we would tab out with our waitress if it was a issue and start a new tab with the waitress at the new table. Yet she would not assist us. We tabbed out to find we could not tip our wait staff on our card, however they Suggested we use their ATM inside that charges a fee. Will not be coming back due less then accompanying family environment.
The Bouoy bar has a great casual atmosphere, as well as a terrific location. Located on the water, facing the bay in point lookout, this restaurant has lovely scenic views of the water, as well as nearby sailboats. Before or after you stop by for a meal, take the time to grab a drink from the bar and have a nice relaxing evening sitting with your toes in sand/ water, depending on the tide! And of course, dont forget to try their delicious seafood and sweet potato fries! The crabs are fantastic here!
1 star for the great environment/view. The guy at the entrance took masks very seriously on entering, which is important of course. Once you walk in, its a whole sardine fest; body to body. Not sure how this place fits the quarantine protocols. The hostess said the wait time for a table would be 1.5 hours, which turned into 2. The worst part was that the 2 groups behind us were seated before us! Unprofessional.
The parking situation is a bit congested so they have free valet service. No matter what night you come there is always a wait for a table, there must be a way to expand your table service. The food is great, but the portions are kind of small. Excellent wait service though!
Usually don’t mind overpaying for the subpar seafood and good views here. Last visit waited over 2 hours for a table that they said would be ready in an hour. After inquiring if we’d still get a table before closing, the blonde hostess rolled her eyes and said idk were obviously very busy. Then turns to the other hostess and mouths “go home”. Disrespectful service, overpriced food, dirty bathrooms. Will avoid in the future, too many nice restaurants in the neighborhood to go to a place w rude service.
Great place to visit during the summer months!! They are situated along the shoreline of Reynolds Channel in Point Lookout with their own little sandy beach area. Its a little tricky to find their entrance... Look for The Fishermans Catch.. they are right next door.. but their entrance is on the right side of the building in the parking lot. In the hot weather you can actually sit in chairs in the sand or dip your feet in the water. There is also a boat dock so you can walk along or sit on the dock as well. There is both indoor and outdoor deck seating with service on one side and then casual outdoor eating where you place your order inside and they bring the food out to you. The main thing here is that the food is very good.. specializing in Seafood with daily specials and everything from bar fare to full entrees on the bar side and mostly appetizers and sandwich menu on the casual outdoor side.In season parking can be tricky but they do offer valet. Ive also been here in the winter when theres only inside seating and it has a great bar atmosphere with everything from tap beers, frozen drinks and specialty cocktails. They also offer entertainment certain nights of the week. Ill definitely go back again!
This is an awesome spot for either a week night dinner and a drink or multiple drinks on the weekend. The food is nothing fancy but it is good bar food (shrimp sliders, fried clams, crab cakes, basic salads, yummy fries, hot dogs, burgers...). What I love most about Buoy Bar is its location. Right on the bay in Point Lookout, on a warm night the garage-style doors open up creating an indoor/outdoor space between the bar and the diners on the porch. When the sun is setting, its a quintessential Summer spot for locals and out-of-towners alike. The bartenders have always been great when Ive gone in. Service is fast, friendly, and professional. Limited draught beer options but good frozen drinks and liquor options. Worth checking out.
The Buoy Bar Waterfront Grill is physically sandwiched in between the more upscale Fishermans Catch and the more casual Teds Fishing Station, so its no wonder that the vibe and cuisine fits right in between as well. Not too formal, not too casual, Buoy Bar is the perfect outdoor post-beach spot to grab some sandwiches and refreshing frozen drinks. We rolled in on a Sunday afternoon and found plenty of other people also shaking the sand off while enjoying their meals and the weekly live music (every Thursday and Sunday I was told).Their menu is a mixture of land and sea-based selections, with sandwiches, entrees, and typical fried apps tossed in too. Between the three of us, we ordered the lemon pepper Mediterranean Sea bass, lemon flounder, and sweet & spicy tiburon sandwich. The first two entrees (priced in the high teens) come served with a buttery rice and steamed mixed veggies, while the $14 fish sandwich came with sweet potato fries. Food was terrific, but my favorite was the refreshingly light tiburon sandwich, served sweet n spicy style with a chopped mango salsa and fresh avocado on toasted ciabatta bread. All three meals were worth the price, but Id say their sandwiches in general are the best deal. On the converse end, Id probably steer clear of their $10-$12 salads, especially since the price goes up an additional $4+ for a protein.Live music was as awesome as it was relaxing. A solo acoustic guitarist w/ amp covered songs from Johnny Cash to Oasis and just about everything in between. He played a three-hour set, and took two short breaks during his set. His selections were perfect, and definitely set the mood for the much needed waterfront tranquility after a long day out in the surf.Id give this place a solid four-star rating, but our server went the extra mile and brought out a complimentary chocolate torte dessert for a birthday we had at our table. She also lassoed up her fellow staff and they gave us a quick table-side happy birthday song to boot. Thanks, and well definitely be back!P.S. - Buoy Bar is located at Scottys Fishing Station - right on the water. Signage along Bayside Ave. might make it hard to initially spot, so just look for Scottys!
We had to wait for a little while but who cares they had a guy playing good music the drinks were spectacular and the atmosphere excellent we got seated with our waitress bubbly and very nice always smiling and willing to help the food was delicious great night great place

2022-05-31Great food and the place was very nicely done. Looks like it could be open year round. It has an outdoor extension which is heated and also has Air conditioning. Great view of the water. We had steamers which were good size and fresh. I also had the grilled cheese with bacon and crab cake. This sandwich was out of this world. A little heavy but worth it😁. The kitchen was a bit small but very clean and the kitchen staff worked very well together( I went by to take a look myself ) and theres also a very nice seating area outside. Havent been here in a few years but very glad we came.

2021-08-01Local vibe type of place, right on water. Walking in you kind of don’t know where to go. No one is in the front to guide you or welcome you to business, you have to figure it out on your own. Parking isn’t easy, but that’s because of the area it’s in. I still gave business 4 stars because once we found help the staff was friendly and location is in a relaxing atmosphere setting.

2022-06-06Overpriced and a wonky seating system. We arrived there at 6pm on a Sunday. It wasnt too crowded. You are not shown to a table. You need to order food at a window then scrounge around to find your own table. After you place a gizmo on the table they bring you food. You have to get your own bottled beer at the bar. Food was horrible. Lobster roll was all roll with scant tasteless lobster meat pieces. Shrimp cocktail was small uncleaned shrimp. The only thing good was the French fries and the Heineken- but they cant take credit for the beer. The parking attendant guy was wonderful btw. Tip him if you go. This place is a waste of a great view.

2022-05-31What a gem! The service, atmosphere, food, entertainment AND the sunset made tonight’s outing a perfect 10!! Everyone we came in contact with the minute we entered this beautiful restaurant made us feel like we were regulars (this was actually our first time). From the hostess, the sweet bar attendant, bus boy, amd our beautiful waitress-everyone made sure we were attended to in a timely manner. I had the skirt steak with the rice and corn (not sure of the proper description) but it was absolutely delicious! My husband had the crab appetizer and he loved it as well! I eat out regularly and I can’t remember the last time I’ve given a review like this one. Date night, family dinner or with your BFF this gem is the place to go!

2022-06-26Great views but horrible food and service. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap. There was barely any chicken in it and 90% of it was just lettuce. Service was horrible. Waited almost 20 min just for the waiter to come over and take our drink order. Had to flag down another waiter to ask for water because ours disappeared. Waste of a good view

2022-05-23Unfortunately had very bad food at my favorite restaurant. I hope the owner reads it and makes changes asap. The place is busy but this should never affect food quality. Ordered my favorite ceviche tacos- there was no fish in my tacos, few peace’s Of canned crabmeat and beans, corn and lettuce what a shame; ordered my favorite crab avocado appetizer- what I got really upset me- instead of fresh avocado there was this canned guacamole and instead of fresh crab meat there was canned crab and the sauce was not that fresh. What a disappointment. I did not say anything only because of my friend, she felt bad but I think it’s a disservice to everyone if someone doesn’t say something. The fact that the wait was an hour for the table should speak to the quality food. I seriously want my money back. My drink was great, poke salad was good but the other two favorites were awful. Sorry! Hope you correct it and send me my refund!

2022-06-19The steamers are full of sand! However the Lobster Roll was yummy! If you pay cash beware! They charge a 3.5% processing fee on credit/debit transactions and dont accept tips on the card! Lol WOW thats ridiculous! The best part is they send you to their in house ATM machine that charges $2.50 per transaction! PS they also demand you leave a credit card or form of ID with them when they give you that electronic buzzer thing if you are waiting for a table! No risk of victimization here! 😂
