CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER: The third star was for the lovely decorations otherwise, this would be a two-star review. My wife and I expected to be wowed. Instead, we were sadly disappointed. The service was terrible and the food mediocre. This is a wedding venue. You should be used to pumping out the food given the limited menu. Clearly understaffed and not properly supervised. We dont mind spending money for quality. $300.00 plus for two people for the aforementioned is unacceptable. You automatically added a 20% gratuity whereas, 15% would have been generous in this case. You people need to step up your game.
Food was excellent service was lacking . Waiter was nice but not very attentive .Spending over $500 for dinner dont tell me sorry the cappuccino machine hasnt been fixed yet . Go to the store buy a new one . I would wait for the UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT sign to be posted before Id go back .Its pretty sad that such good food has such poor service at a premium price.
Its an average event experience at an exceptional location. The venue itself is great and the grounds are impeccable. The banquet manager we interacted with was great. The event staff on the bar was subpar, and the support staff running around seemed to truly dislike everything they were doing. The wait staff was adequate if not forgettable. All of this contibutes to the overall atmosphere. The food was fine and maybe even better than average.
We were up in the cigar lounge for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. We ate and drank like royalty and the service was incredible. Check out the picture of the insane seafood platter. This was was made for 6. Every bit of seafood from the raw oysters to the calamari salad was so fresh and succulent. For app I had the Carltun Classic and for main course I had the filet mignon and shrimp. Both were great choices. We will definitely be back!
We celebrated our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. It was the perfect place to celebrate. It was romantic but not dark. The food was spectacular as were the drinks. The cigar bar upstairs was awesome. Wish we could have checked out the wine bar, but there was a private party going on. We will come back again. Everything was perfect including the live music and wait staff!
Every special event in your life deserves a wonderful restaurant to celebrate it. Carltun will not disappoint you: delicious food and perfect presentation. Wine tasting dinners will give you a chance to have 4-5 course dinners with perfectly paired wine choices for each course. Each month the locality of cuisine and wine regions are different. Regular wine list is amazingly extensive, there are wines and liquors for any taste preferences and different budget. Very often the Palm Court restaurant has live music, a guitar or piano player/singer with wonderful songs creating even more unforgettable atmosphere. The service is very professional and attentive. On a slow day the chef will personally greet you and ask your opinion on food.
I have enjoyed this restaurant for.many years. But last night was terrible. We arrived at 7,were seated immediately at a table for 2I had 1 drink, waited 30 minutes for the appetizer, then waited 1 hour for the main dish. After 9 we were offered a free dessert, but we were so disappointed with the service, that we asked for the check and left. There was no headwater overseeing the restaurant. This was a special occasion for us, and it was ruined by the poor management of what was.our favorite place.
My wedding experience was absolutely fabulous. The staff was extremely professional and attentive..Every detail necessary to make the wedding day spectacular was done. The Carltun does everything humanly possible to make the day Super memorable..My husband and guest are still raving about the food , beauty and staff.Thank you to all on Staff!
Great service (especially Danny our waiter), food was outstanding (especially the cherries imported from Italy, and the chef came out to talk to us), and the live music was outstanding. The only negative was the high prices. Definitely recommend if youre trying to impress though.
I had my wedding here on 4/10 and have to say Adam and John made all my dreams come true. We had 1 month to plan my wedding and Adam made everything so beyond perfect for my husband and I. Whenever I would stress Adam would always ask “ what can I do to take this unnecessary stress away from you? I promise you everything will be exceptional.” And boy did he deliver. John was an excellent maître d’ and had everything running so smoothly while still looking like he was having so much fun. People talk about my wedding till this day which reminded me to write this review! Thank you so much Adam and John!! Can’t wait to visit on our 1 year anniversary!
The venue is satisfactory however management is not professional. We were not informed that our hall would be unavailable for set up until an hour prior to the event. Raphaella did not accommodate the religious needs of our guests and went on to disrespect our faith. The cake, which we were told was included, was not served. Party favors we had prepared were not distributed by the staff. Overall, it was a very disappointing evening due to the poor service of the management.I would not recommend this venue to those interested in celebrating a joyous life event. A truly sad output by this venue.
My parents went to “the Carltun” in East Meadow to discuss with the catering manager about an event for their 70th Anniversary but the girl at the front desk was rude and not helpful. My Parents are in their late 80’s and 90’s were told to come back at a more convenient time...some customer service. Convenient for them, not the customer. Does she realize she’s in the hospitality business? We’ll gladly take our business elsewhere as we’ve done many times before.
As a member i was super shocked to see how run down the facility is as well as having a none working air conditioner on such hot summer day ! Everything was not working from the TV to the AC to all scratched up furniture and paint with dirty table cloth on our table. As much as Mr Capitola charges us to be members.. i dont think funds are low to keep up the place to its high standards and fees. you need an UPGRADE ! and better maintenance , who enjoys eating dinner and sweating to death ,maybe in the beach !
Best place ever....smoke a cigar, have a drink or two, hang out with the boys, watch a game, munch on some food (very awesome by the way), service is top notch..... shoot some pool, lounge back on a sofa, ect....every guy in there is awesome...met some great people....what else can u ask for??
I opted to eat outside for a light dinner on their large patio, looking out on the park...beautiful.Tables are well spaced, staff wears masks and gloves...service was excellent, very attentive. Not a large menu, but food was excellent (jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, overflowing lobster roll). Nice selection of wines and some cocktails.Perfect for a summers early evening dinner.
Beautiful place. Dine there last Saturday with a friend of mine who is a cigar club member. Food was tasty and service was ok. Our waiter Jose was very professional. Only issue was the long wait to receive our entrees. Restaurant was packed. A manager (with a French accent - forgot his name) saw my friend getting anxious about our entrees. He helped to rush them and came to the table a couple of time to verify we liked everything. I appreciated the attention they gave to our table. Overall I will recommend this restaurant - service and food are worth the money
I hosted my engagement party at the Carltun and unfortunately it did not go well from the moment I arrived. They double-booked the bridal suite room and wanted me to remove all of my own and my guests belongings to a downstairs closet. If you are looking for a professional and well-managed establishment to host your affair, this is unfortunately not the place for you.
Disappointing. Food was OK but apps and dinner were served cold perhaps (because the place was freezing). Despite being 1 of three patrons, we kept waiting for our glasses to be filled. I asked for Tequila and they brought two almost empty bottles over to the table, neither of which had enough in them. Server advised they dont light the fireplace because people put things too close to it (?). Server advised they didnt offer the little benches to rest a ladies purse because theyre a trip hazard where we sat (?). They did manage to charge $300 for a dinner for two, though... that much they got right. They had some schleppy guy walking around playing manager asking how our food was before we even ordered! He was dressed for a hike through the woods and wore his mask below his nose... why bother? Sad... its become Millers Ale house in a nicer room; used to enjoy this place very much,
The venue was clean and the staff was friendly. Food was good. The room we were in was small, and for our group, it was a little more crowded than I would have liked. The parking lot needs more lighting and some signage to direct you to the exit. There should be a lit sign on the street that indicates you are at the right place.
A beautiful venue for a wedding, fundraiser, party, or dine in the restaurant. The rooms here are well-appointed and decorated. The food is excellent, and the staff offers exceptional hospitality. It sits is a park larger than Central Park, so there are ample places for photos too.
This place is amazing. It’s very serene inside a very busy area and feels like an oasis of class, tradition, and modern elegance. The cigar club is amazing! The service and the staff are always pleasant. The building itself is an incredible experience and the events I’ve been to there seem to bring out the best in people and everyone has nothing but positive things to say.
Beautiful, elegant, professional staff. I went for New Years Eve. Had a great time. I would have given 5 stars, but the food was problematic. Not very well planned out, long lines, unorganized, food not as hot as it should have been. Tiny little serving utensils that were continually falling into the food trays and people had to use their hands to fish them out. Having said that, we are definitely going back next New Years for a second chance!
My family and I have been going to the Carlton for years. From family get togethers, to birthdays, to weddings, we have never been disappointed (well, maybe once on Valentines Day). With that being said, tonight my mom took Dad and I there for a relaxing Sunday dinner. Im not exactly sure what changed but it was even BETTER than ever! The staff was as courteous as ever but more relaxed and happy-even peaceful. My meal was stellar. Ive had veal parmesan in many fine restaurants and many have been amazing but this was truly untouchable. Jose, the gentleman that usually takes care of us was his typical pleasant self. Hes efficient, funny, and best of all real. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking to impress, while at the same time youre looking to have a comfortable and satisfying experience. Cheers to being my favorite restaurant to date :).
Thought this might be an interesting place to go for Thanksgiving Dinner. Mistake on my part. We thought that having the buffet meal would have a large selection of dishes to sample. Wrong again. Appetizer consisted of freshly made pasta, mussels in cold red sauce, run of the mill cold cuts and vegetables. Main course the traditional turkey, but not carved in front of you, forked out of a steamer, the same for the ham. The only saving grace was they were properly cooked and tender. ot much can be said for the stuffing, thick black tasteless mess. Dessert was a table of ice cream, cakes and pies, good enough but certainly nothing to get excited about. Table service to clear plates, fill water glasses, drinks from the bar was non existent. Only after after asking the hostess ( Im going to assume that was her function) why we were being ignored, we got some coffee and tea at the end of the meal. Apologies were offered and I was informed that someone from management would call me - Cant imagine why, the meal was over but I left my card. I asked if there was someone from management around and told no. Really? Im puzzled at the relatively high rating this facility has, as Im sure I was not the first to have this experience. Having had many fine meals at the Garden City Hotel as comparison, I blame myself for wandering off into uncharted territory for me. Dine at the Carltun at your own risk.
Repeat visit from a week ago. I cant say enough about the service. Our El Salvadorian waiter tonight was superb. His extra niceties, like taking my friends jacket to coat check himself and putting my purse on a little foot rest, were outstanding. Really... Carltun Management: Give him an award for over and above customer service. Our fish entrees were excellent from the little warm olive rolls to the avocado and walnut and gorgonzola salad ( this time with dressing on the side), to the apple tart a la mode dessert...Thank you,... and for the elegant atmosphere.
Review based on Thanksgiving DinnerWent with family for buffet dinner, $50/head.Hard to comment on the service based on it being Thanksgiving, but I wasnt impressed.Had 5 oclock reservation, sat down promptly, waited about 15 minutes for a server, who came over and said he would be taking over for the server who was supposed to have the table.Throughout the evening it appeared none of the buffet stations were fully stocked and at times some were without food. One of the salad stations had water pouring over the edge of the table onto the floor in front due to melted ice, and guest had to make sure to keep away to avoid getting their clothes wet, or step in the massive puddle. In my opinion the food was not great, but others at my table said it was ok.Being that the Carlton is a catering hall, I would believe that Thanksgiving Dinner would not be an unusual event for them to handle.I dont know if Thanksgiving had anything to do with my experience.
Expected a bit more. Food was good enough, but service was a bit unpredictable. Staff tried their best but it seemed like management is resting on their laurels. Kind of like Home Depot. They think their name is worth the price. I was a guest there but would not recommend nor choose for myself.
Extremely disappointed in the 2019 Easter brunch. Not even a mimosa or Bloody Mary is included. The food was mediocre, lacked taste, and lacked variety. No mint jelly with Lamb on Easter? C’mon. The temperature control was off and lastly the service was to be desired. Not once did a maître d’ come around to ask how everything was. The waitress was very kind but the drink service was impeccably slow.
Great place for a night out. Had a great night full of great, unrushed service. Be sure to ask for the wine by the glass menu if youre not up for a whole bottle (or navigating the ridiculously extensive wine book they have). Bring a credit card and re-enjoy the night at your next credit card payment(s). Will find a reason to return.
Ive eaten at this restaurant numerous times and there were some occasions when the food was off a bit. They messed up my order with a different one in menu or added an ingredient which I told them to exclude.I usually get their Sirloin steak and I would say its better than any other average steakhouses, maybe except for Keens steakhouse or BLT prime in the city.Risotto is pretty good as well and the atmosphere of this restaurant is outstanding. Just little elegant and soothing kind of a restaurant for lunch except on Fridays? or Saturday nights. They sometimes have a jazz singer for dinner. Its quite interesting.
I was terrible disappointed in our Easter dinner at the palm court the appetizers were fine the salad was dry and portion was laughably I ordered the lamb shank that was severely over done to the point of it being like shoe leather I chose the palm court for Easter with our family because my husband and I had a wonderful dining experience there a week before ...for 75.00 per person I expected a better meal
Went here on friday december 7th for disco unlimited. The food was great and the band was the best!! I would have given them 5 stars but our waiter was horrible. We sat on table 4 and he hardly came to help us. When we asked him about different things he said he didnt know. Went to the manager and she did nothing!!
Located inside Eisenhower Park servicing East Meadow and the adjoining areas of Nassau County. Valet parking is available. Great for Weddings, Anniversary parties, etc. Came here to watch Disco Unlimited on a Thursday night. $10.00 cover Charge. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. We will definitely be going back.
Went here on Thanksgiving, since I expected edible food my expectations where too high.Ive been here for an event years ago, and remembered it as a pleasant experience, decided to go here for Thanksgiving. Bad choice, they ran out of foods, what was left, was probably left because it was bad. I dont just mean not great I mean terrible.Go at your own risk.
It was clean. Well maintained facility. It had nice service. Can’t comment on the food. I just had tea sandwiches. Not sure tea sandwiches are enough to comment on the food. The sandwiches were good & super cute but no full meal for this event. There was no bar for this event so can’t comment on that either.
The place is nice, fancy has a wedding hall. Was in their dining area for the sunday brunch. Food was just OK. Thats the problem, this place is super expensive to be serving OK food. Same for the staff, was just Ok, to a bit slow. I have much higher expectations when you are spending over 100 per person. Have been to weddings here that have been very nice and the place does have the high end feel to it. But I could not recommended this place for just a dinner or brunch event.
My family always comes here to celebrate birthdays and other special events. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant, the service is top notch, and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. I definitely recommend coming here for brunch for a dinner on a holiday or a special occasion.
Went for thanksgiving dinner. Awful.long line at buffet. Food ran out several times. Selection poor. Turkey should be the star of the food. TerribleOnly small piece of white meat. Dark not available or mostly fat. No wing or leg. Too frw staff. Dessert on dirtly table with cake crumbs. Ice cream in large tubs so frozen server could not get it out. Bathroom in basement and not really wheelchair accessible for my friend. Out table of 13 was so crowded we had to stand up to eat. Table was for 12 and we had a disabled person on a wheelchair and they were told this twice in advance. Worst dining experience ever!
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Palm Carlton in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. It was horrible! The restaurant had our reservation wrong, people complained because it was freezing inside ( eating with their coats on ), service was so slow because there were only 4 waiters and when the food finally arrived it was like warm. When we wanted to speak to the manager when we were leaving we saw him sitting in the back with his feet up.
We were 20 minutes late on Thanksgiving., but the staff was gracious and we were seated right away .I gave 5 stars because of the service and 3 drinks that I found 2 of them to be weak then they brought over another one ALL ON THE HOUSE.DANIELLE IS OUTSTANDING IN THE FEILD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Where do I even start with how this place has done wrong? First off, when you arrive, there is definitely an air of elitism. From the cliched fountain at its entrance to the decor in some of the rooms, the place seems to forget where it actually is located, in the middle of a golf course nestled in a public park.We met with a friendly woman, Debbie, whom greeted up with a smile and drinks. She showed us the grounds and wasnt trying hard to sell the place, probably thinking we would be blown away by the surroundings. Sorry, but seeing constantly passing cars on a busy street or random golfers in the background of the ceremony space doesnt exactly inspire awe in me. A tight row of trees or some type of fence would have helped. That pretentiousness carries over to the menus where they seem printed from a cheap inkjet. The food is supposedly amazing, at least that what we were constantly reminded of, being that it is fine dining with a fine dining chef and all. However, the offered menu as-is is very limited with any customization coming at additional costs. Everything is an additional cost. Most venues include valet. Here, nope, an additional cost. We have access to shoot photography anywhere, which is great if it werent for the fact that this is a golf course!! Even a small enclosed garden would have been welcomed.Quite possibly the best thing regarding this visit is the white horse statue. They do, however, book only one event per day. Good, because Id hate to share a special day with all the golfers AND a second party.
Worst, horrible treatment ever. I bought a membership for my brother in the cigar lounge. They took our cigars, threw them in a cabinet and every time I went they would make excuses as to why the cigar box I had paid for still wasn’t set up. This occurred for 6 months, when I finally tried to get my money back they insulted me, stated I was trying to cheat them and well overall made me feel as if I was the one in the wrong. The worst treatment ever.

2022-03-31Every event we do here is a great time. The historic Carlton has a unique atmosphere. All the food we have tried here has been fantastic. Their team is easy to work with and very friendly.

2022-01-26My family and I had a great time celebrating one of our daughters birthdays here. It’s also great when we come for a date night as well. Beautiful scenery as well as amazing food.

2022-05-09Went for Mother’s Day brunch. It was so disappointing from the food to the service. I understand now why they require you to prepay and add the tip and tax. The staff would have had minimal tip. The food was cold, some of the desserts were still frozen. When it was served the girl served it from the serving dish to her hand to the plate. Even though she had gloves on…come on. Honestly, not knocking McDonald’s, but would have been a better alternative. So much more to say… but you get the picture. Save your money!!

2022-04-19Easter Brunch 2022Overall, a very disappointing experience combined with a questionable billing practice. For starters, my credit card was billed for the meal in its entirety BEFORE the actual event. A non-refundable deposit would be understandable given the cost for preparation of a buffet but charging for everything before it happens seems somewhat unethical and almost like a cash-grab. Included with the charge was a 20% Service Charge - while I would normally have no issues tipping this amount, paying it beforehand guarantees the server a good tip regardless of the service they provide, thus there is no motivation to do a good job. As predicted, our service was less than acceptable due mainly to the lack of servers in the room - approximately 2 servers for over 50 diners. Our used plates accumulated significantly before they were taken away, water glasses were not refilled unless we asked (and located) our server and overall attention was absent - again, this is more due to the lack of servers. The actual food provided for the brunch was acceptable so credit is deserved here. Tea options included only two types - green tea and jasmine. While these are healthy options, one would think that there would and should be more than just these two.Outside of the religious significance to the Easter holiday, gathering with family and friends should make for memorable times. Unfortunately, this venue and service took that opportunity away from us this past Easter.

2022-06-04Went there for a wedding reception. Several times (3!) I was served a drink in filthy glasses. Everything from greasy to covered in lipstick. No way they were washed at all.Someone broke a glass. Even after I informed the waitstaff it wasnt cleaned up until after the end of the event.Do your event elsewhere.

2022-06-19Always very nice. Service was slow- not being mean- coffee and dessert didnt come out until the evening was over!! Maybe short-staffed?? The staff were nice-again, not being mean, but last year it was better.

2022-04-15Went here for dinner with my grandparents. Our first impression was that it was ice cold and because we were the only guests at the time my grandmother asked if the ac could be turned down just a little. This was ignored twice. The venue is cute but the service is not good: the maitre d’ did not greet us or speak to us at all, there were no napkins on our table at first, every other table was set. Bread is only available after asking and picking it from the waiter’s basket, salt and pepper we also had to ask for. The menu is quite plain, nothing special or interesting, most of it is basically the same dish and there’s complete lack of vegetarian or vegan options. My grandfathers steak knife was brought half an hour after the dish was served and it was dirty, the waiter also didn’t apologize for bringing it so late.Overall: lousy experience, would unfortunately not recommend at all. We simply expected better service from such a popular place, especially because we were three of only nine guests in the whole dining room.

2022-05-10We went to the Carltun on Sunday, May 8, 2022 for Mother’s Day buffet. It was horrible, food was cold, dry turkey, meat, cold vegetables, salad was wilted, nothing was presented or served correctly. The servers did not know how to cut meat or serve correctly, and they were eating and drinking! We have eaten at the Palm Court and always liked it. This was a terrible meal and we will never eat there again. The price was $90.00 with tax and gratuity for each person, it was not worth $10.00!!!!!

2022-05-17Canceled a 2 year old wedding contract 6 months out and refused reimbursement for all of the booked vendors/save the dates. Unprofessionalism at its finest!

2020-02-26Not only is this place gorgeous, but the good is wonderful as well. We went here to celebrate Father’s Day and the scenery was beautiful. We sat inside and while dinner was being served, a vocalist was singing Frank Sinatra songs. It was a great way to set the mood for a nice dinner. While we ordered are food, we step to the back patio to take some pictures. The grounds definitely give you a nice background for photos. Our dinner was served shortly after we ordered it and even though it was on the prices side, it was worth it. The waiters and the staff were very attentive as well. The venue is located directly in Eisenhower park. So if you want to take a stroll with the family after lunch or dinner, you totally can! Definitely recommend if you’re around!
