The Carnegie Hotel in New York
I really don’t want to leave a review and give away how good this place is. If you’re looking for a really well designed and simple, clean, and convenient hotel in Lincoln Square, this is it. The design is beautiful and so efficient - whoever did it knew what they were doing. The rooms aren’t big, but they’re actually fairly big for NYC. The drawer fridge is brand new and amazing! This hotel has all the little perks you don’t find anymore - including cushy slippers and bathrobes. They take note of your arrival time, and I had no problem checking in early. There’s a cute breakfast/snack bar in the lobby with everything you could need. And did I mention this place is clean, clean, clean? Love! 😍
Wonderful stay here; probably the best experience Ive had to date in Manhattan. Excellent location - just a ten minute walk to either Central Park or Times Square. Very nice and clean hotel and rooms. We stayed in a room with a king bed and had enough space for our daughters pack-n-play, and had a nice view of the street from the window. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast and adjacent parking garage were additional perks. Would definitely stay here again.
So very impressed .. and havent arrived for my stay yet! Alexandra.. front desk manager I believe.. so polite/professional and sincere with pre-arrival enquiries. Very apologetic for the short wait on hold. After which, a refreshing grounded sense of ... I will definitely do what I can to make your stay perfect. A pleasure... more to come...
This is NOT a four stars hotel. There is no variety of facilities. There is no restaurant in the hotel. There is small corner for guests to chill with tables— but with more than 8 ppl in the room you can feel it’s already packed “ especially during the COVID” you need more space and a better ventilation in the area. NOT good for families or with young children. The room is way too small for the price. The bed measurements is FULL size bed NOT queen size. It’s a bit disappointing when I expected and paid for queen size bed but got the full size bed. I talked to the front desk about it but she claimed everything is in queen sizes. So I said the measurements are not lied. Please go measure it. Then she said our bed sheets are ordered in queen size. So I said” yes which can also fitted to the full size bed”.You can expect this hotel as a 3 stars hotel. It’s simple, clean and compact in a good location. It’s good for tourists who are travel lights ( no space), looking for a place to rest after a long day of touring, good location and near subways. They have free light breakfast for you as a perk. Some yogurt, muffins banana and coffees. Also a happy hour 5-6pm for wine and snacks. There are better hotel options with the same price if it’s not your last minute booking.
I had a great stay. It was a little pricey though. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the free wine from 5pm to 6pm. Everything was clean and in order. The location was excellent with so much within walking distance. The rooms had blackout sheets you could control for privacy.
We stayed for 2 nights in March 2018 in Room 1104.FANTASTIC for a few days in the city. VERY SMALL room, but VERY WELL DONE.Plenty of shelf space to put things, newly done rooms overall, very cute shower with overhead rain faucet. Bed felt new, and everything was very clean. Plenty of drawers if you wanted to unpack. I also liked that for a small space, the fridge was a pull-out drawer style so you don’t have to squat down to look inside that fridge.Really well designed room.We had room 1104. The view from the window was the brick wall of the next building, which is GOOD so we don’t have to hear traffic. We had a very nice quiet night’s rest.Carnegie Hotel offers a complimentary happy hour with wine. We took part in that happy hour the first night, and found that people were not mingling mainly with the people they were with instead of networking with new people, but we still enjoyed our time there. The wine and food offered was fine, though, and it was a nice gesture from the hotel. At any given time, there is free snacks and coffee and beverages in that lobby.Given the location, room cleanliness and general newness of that hotel, we WOULD stay here again!
Convenient for most any mid-town business. The staff are friendly & accommodating, the rooms are well appointed if a bit small, but this is mid-town! They offer a better than usual complementary breakfast, and a nice happy hour every afternoon. Solid value and, did I mention how conveniently located they are!?! Give them a try on your next trip, you wont regret it!
I cant say enough good about this place, its clean, great location, friendly staff, good layout, great price... We especially enjoyed the wine hour from 5:00 - 6:00 PM...although we only went once its still a great service to offer. The rooms themselves are not large, but its a boutique hotel so I wasnt expecting large rooms. The shower did have a rainfall shower head and they booked us in a few hours early after holding our bags for the morning. For the wine hour and breakfast they encourage you to take glasses and plates to your room, which is a nice touch. Also, I was able to use wine glasses and a cork screw when I arrived late one night with my own bottle of wine. We came from the Marquis Marriott which is where we spent the first two nights of our trip and I would take a room at The Carnegie Hotel any day over the Marquis. Also, they had nice bath robes!
Very clean, fairly sized room and quiet. Loved the size of the shower, could fit 2 people in.Also helpful staff. Loved the wine and cheese hour and the snacks and drinks whenever we wanted them- super helpful for tourists who are in and out of the hotel sight seeing. I would definitely go back!
The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms are beautiful! The one thing I loved the most is the location. Its right next to Carnegie Hall and not a far walk from both Central Park and Times Square. Overall I am very pleased with my stay and will definitely be coming back next time Im in NY.
I did not have the best experience during my stay here. We stated prior it was our anniversary/my birthday and nothing was done. We have stayed at other nyc hotels that made it much more of a special experience. Also the breakfast had no cream cheese for the bagels which was odd. I would not recommend this hotel unfortunately. Also we called around 1pm and were told the room was ready and when we got back to check in had to sit and wait.
Great hotel! Conveniently located in Midtown, super close to Central Park, Soho, the 5th avenue. The staff was very friendly (except for the lady at breakfast, she was always moody). Check in was super fast, so was check out. Loved the fact that they offer continental breakfast (7-10 am) and cheese, crackers, and wine daily from 5-6 pm. They also have 24 hr service of snacks, coffee, water, and tea. They offer two bottles of water in every room. Rooms are small but they are very comfortable. Bed and linens were good. TV and cable at every room. Wifi works perfectly. They charge a 30 USD extra daily fee but if you take advantage of breakfast and the already mentioned food offerings, its worth it. A great budget hotel (at least in low season) and an excellent option to stay at NYC.
Nice, cozy, clean place. No surcharges. Breakfast included. All day coffe and tea with cookies. Wine hour from 5 to 6pm. Bathrobe, sleepers and small fridge in the room. Nice street view. Very very clean and contemporary. Best choice for those who perform or just vist Carnegie Hall. 3 nights cost us $1080 but we had just a great time there. Check out at 12 pm, you can leave your bags for free at their storage if you want to go for a walk after check out. Loved this place , will stay there again!
The hotel is a tucked away gem right across from The Carnegie Hall. They offer free breakfast, wine and cheese hour, and a room with different snacks, coffee, drinks and cookies. The ambience is very nice, the rooms are small yet comfortable, and the decor is updated and modern. They provide you with slippers in the bathroom, a robe in the closet, and sub outlets. There is a parking garage adjacent to the hotel that is reasonably priced and its walking distance from Times Square yet quiet enough to not hear the bustle.
This is a new or newly renovated clean hotel with the amenities you appreciate but not the ones you don’t need. The location is great - easy access to most subway lines and perfectly situated between Central Park and the Theatre district while being quiet and peaceful. 24hr healthy(ish) snacks are appreciated- fruit, cookies and chips including baked lays. The price is on point- at the time of writing it is about 10% less than other premium hotels in the area but of course you don’t get the perks of luxury and other premier hotels- mainly room size and adequate breakfast. I’d like boiled eggs or charcuterie during breakfast as I limit carbs- not available here. TIP- there are two things that are weird in the rooms — one the closet- it opens opposite to how it looks like it will. The door in not the side with the cutout handle but the one next to the cutout which looks like a handle. A quick fix for the hotel would be to install a handle/knob on the opening side to save the sanity of your staff and a bad first impression. Two the shower is tight and turns on counter clockwise on the bottom faucet to turn on. Let it run as the temperature can vary at the same position shower to shower. The top switches the flow from hose to rainshower. The desk gets tonnes if calls about this too. Overall for the price it’s like an 6/5 star but if it were prices to other equivalent hotels in the area I’d give it a 4. Perfect as a safe area for solo travel if you are here for plays.
For the last 10 days we called The Carnegie Hotel home and it really felt like home. The staff were great and always friendly, the room wasnt big but it wasnt small either compared to other hotels I have stayed in, in New York. Ultra modern room with a great bathroom and the shower was large, the room was super clean and the bed was comfortable.Coffee and snacks available 24/7 for all guests.....if I had one issue its breafest time, make sure you have it early or late cause it is a small area and when its full it can become an obstacle course with all the guest filling up the room. Every day in the afternoon between 5 and 6 the hotel treats their guests to wine and snacks. The location is great and situated between Time Square and Central Park and the subway is just around the corner.I would highly recommend this hotel and being that this is my 4th time to New York I would definitely be coming back to The Carnegie Hotel.Great work guys, Im sure you will keep it up.
This is a smaller hotel with 4 rooms per floor. Great location between Central Park and the theater district. Very clean! The standard Queen room is tiny but beautiful, and things like the slide-out fridge and glass bathroom pocket door make perfect use of the space. The decor is great. And again, very clean. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is spotless. Shower has handheld and a Grohe rain shower. Snacks and drinks (coffee, tea, juice) are in the lobby 24hrs. Wi-Fi is solid (150Mb/s), and plenty of free on-demand HD content on the Samsung flat screen. We had a rear-facing room but staff still managed to get us somewhat of a view from the 18th floor.Overall experience: no frills, but a clean modern room at a great value. Would stay again. A+
Chose Carnegie Hotel based on the reviews online and it was a great choice. We just needed a conveniently located modern and clean place to sleep inbetween events with friends and this fit the bill. Boutique style facility with limited number of rooms. Like most NYC hotels, rooms are small but efficiently designed. Clean, contemporary finishes. Great wifi, nice snacks and beverages available in lobby. Easy walk to the park, nearby theatres, Times Square, etc. Our friends all stayed at the Wellington on the same block and had a very disappointing experience so we are glad we broke from the herd.
Staying 1 night. Mainly to sleep. June 9-10. So I know there are tons of reviews on line, I like to keep things simple. Obviously, small rooms dont let that throw you off (its new York) my room 1004, view of another building so keep blinds closed. Everything modern, up to date. New from changing stations for your devices to bathroom toilet. Space is limited so dont bring tons with you. 10 min (real) walk to time square and just far away from 7th Ave that its no bother to walk. Maybe something that should be mentioned on other reviews is that there is a really inexpensive parking garage next to the hotel so dont have to go crazy finding parking. Final thought..I for one like newer/updated hotels, specially in a major city. You want classics rustic or even nice hotel go to maine or something like that. In a major city in 2018 thinks should be new, clean and more improtant moder. I expect it and I will pay for it. I really think this hotel highloghts all the right things at the right price point in a major city full of over priced stuff near the tourists capital of the world (other than Disney)
No Heat! Fire Alarm!Stayed in a Junior Suite this hotel for 4 nights. First night NO HEAT! Second Night NO HEAT - when we asked for help the staff told us that they ALREADY knew our room had no heat and the gave us a tiny heater?! Third day was complete panic when our rooms fire alarm went off!! The elevator doors automatically locked (and we were on the 18th floor). We were stopped in the stairwell by an employee and told the alarm was tripped due to someone working in the building. However, 2 different employees showed up at our room and informed us that it was our specific room that had caused the alarm! Firefighters arrived at the hotel, people came and went from our room! Only after this was our heat finally fixed - just in time to check out. No one on staff apologized for the fiasco or for putting us in a room that they knew had no heat! When we arrived home we saw the following post on Trip Advisor... (proof that the hotel staff knowingly put us in a room with no heat!Holli K...La Quinta, California...Reviewed 2 days agoNo heat and noise but nice staffWe were scheduled to stay six nights. When we checked in, there was no heat in our room. Staff immediately checked into it, providing us with a small floor heater and attempting to fix the problem. After three days and nights of being cold and interrupted sleep from the noise of workmen outside our room, we checked out. The hotel did not charge us for the remaining nights. Also, our room was incredibly small and did not resemble the photos on the website.
Sometimes location is everything—especially if Carnegie Hall is your reason to be in the city. But this hotel also offers clean, modern rooms and friendly staff. If you want all that, but don’t want to pay for a big lobby and bellman, then Carnegie Hotel is for you. I plan to make it my regular landing place on annual trips here. It sure beats walking up and down 7th AV in a cold breeze.Update: Carnegie now charges double what I paid on my first visit. Therefore, I lower my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars. Value for money is not what it used to be.
The name of this hotel should Carnegie “no coffee in the room” Hotel. These guys have a coffee machine in the first floor lobby - and NOTHING in the room. Excuse? “We don’t have enough space in the room!” Well that’s smart (NOT!).I can’t say anything else. It’s like, you don’t have coffee machine in the room? Really? What planet are you on?It’s like saying “we don’t have a shower in the room, it’s in the nearby gym next block”.GET IT TOGETHER GUYS. GET IT TOGETHER.
Possibly a tad overpriced, breakfast was a disappointment, and beware of the concept of paying for a view. That aside - clean, lovely rooms, comfortable bed, fridge in your room to keep your beer that you find around the city chilly , and friendly staff. Id stay again.
Excellent hotel - conveniently located for attractions and on a direct metro line from JFK Airport. Purely. Good cosmetics, textiles. Breakfasts (like almost everywhere else in the USA) are modest, but quite enough to start the day. Particularly pleased with the snacks and drinks in the lobby, and the wine hour 😋
Stayed for 4 days in NYC alone.A small hotel just off Carnegie Hall in Manhattan. The hotel is modern, monotone, calm yet stylish, clean and functional and nice. The staff is kind and the environment is quiet despite being a big city. There is no noise because it is not the type that stays in a large group. The location is great, so its the best place to set up as a sightseeing base in Manhattan.Light meals and drinks are free in the lobby, so its a good idea to have some.
Very satisfactory hotel!I made a reservation knowing that the room was small, but the first time I entered the room, I was a little embarrassed. However, the cleaning conditions such as beds and bathrooms are very good, and convenience facilities such as drawers/refrigerators are very convenient. The bathroom is the cleanest among the hotels Ive been to so far!!!The staff are friendly (especially the girls are really friendly) and the breakfast is pretty good. This is my third visit to New York, and I had the most quiet sleep at night. (This part seems to be different depending on the location of the room~ When checking in, when we arrived earlier than the official check-in time, we said, The room you can enter right now is noisy at night. I can give you a quiet room later. I got it, but it was a really quiet and sleepy room!!)There is no glitz like a large chain hotel, but I am very satisfied with the quiet and pleasant hotel, and I will return without hesitation the next time I visit New York. Thank you Canegi Hotel!
Hotel a stones throw from Time Square and Central Park is still very quiet. Clean and new room. Bath products stocked every day. Breakfast only sweet but varied and plentiful including snacks and fruit. Room with drink and cookie dispenser always available. The afternoon aperitif is excellent with cheese, peanuts, grapes and wine. Very friendly and helpful staff
Very good hotel in a central location, yet quiet (by New York standards). Nice staff and very modern and clean rooms with a modern bathroom (rainforest shower). A good price / performance ratio.Breakfast without hot food but perfectly adequate (toast, bagel, sweet pastries, jam, fruit, cornflakes, fully automatic coffee machine). It is also always replenished.Happy hour at 5 p.m. is also a good offer, and the flat rate has to be paid for this too. WiFi very fast. You can leave your suitcase free of charge on the day of departure.Good supermarket and deli is around the corner on the other side of Carnegie Hall.I can only say about the often criticized points: the breakfast room is small, but if you get up a little earlier, for example, 8 am, there is little going on. Disposable tableware is no longer available here. The rooms are a bit small but still comfortable compared to other hotels.
Are you world travelers? I highly recommend this hotel in New York. Central, brand new, breakfast included, hard to find here in the big apple, super clean, helpful staff and ready to meet you if you have difficulty with any problem Michael at the reception proved to be a great help. I highly recommend it
This carnegie hotel is a small but stylish but tasteful hotel just off the Carnegie Hall. Some of the residents seemed to be concerned with Carnegie Hall, and while the language of each country was flying, the topic seemed to be music-related. As a preference for smaller hotels than large ones, this interiorThe atmosphere of intelligence, and the harmony of soothing monotone and graish wood are very nice like NY.Both hardware and staff are reliable hotels!
Very good, it is a small hotel but with excellent service. The rooms very clean and modern. Its location is perfect, two subway stations nearby, restaurants, central park. The food area is small but with breakfast included, with snacks service all day and with the wine hour in the afternoon, the truth is its size goes to a second term. Its very helpful staff, with flexibility to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out, while leaving our plane. In addition to its recommendation where to eat, places to visit, use of the subway, etc ...
Excellent and innovative room, rain shower, very kind staff, very intimate and quiet hotel, no problems of hot water / slow lifts (as there are in the big hotels), breakfast (partially kosher) which includes breads and pastries, delicacies, fruits, snacks, cornflakes, jams , Juices and more. Also during the day there is light drinking, snacks, and free fruit.Highly recommend.
Breakfast is not enough with 1 cheese type only until 10 am.Recommended place close to the Times. All day long you had coffee and a light drink and some treats. Excellent cleanliness. Large, comfortable bed. It is recommended to book a large room. The reception staff is courteous and very helpful.

2022-06-12The first hotel we stayed in for our honeymoon. The service is really good, so friendly and respectful. The rooms are really clean and have a calming ambience to them. They included a wine and cheese tasting everyday in the afternoon, and the breakfast they included was good enough if you are not planning on eating somewhere else in the morning. The amenities are on point, we got two really rainy days and they had umbrellas for us, always giving a have a nice day! or welcome back! as you leave and return to the hotel.

2022-04-22I stayed here last month and it was wonderful. I usually stay at the Concord but decided to give this hotel a try. Definitely will be back. Next week in fact. The beds and shower are what really impressed me. The bed is so comfortable and the shower is amazing. Great views with giant windows, that also have shades to block out light. Very quiet too. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Cant wait to stay there again.

2021-12-10So disappointing. The room was beyond tiny, not at all like the website portrays. The bed was supposed to be a queen, it wasnt. I have a queen at home, I know how big a queen bed is. This wasnt a queen. Their answer to me was These are the queen size beds at this hotel. Our room wasnt cleaned or serviced in any way, even AFTER we specifically asked and were told it would be. Ive stayed in some bad hotels over the years, they at least made the bed. When I asked about it the next day, the answer was If someone had an accident on the bed, we would change the sheets, otherwise we dont. This was supposed to be a nice getaway weekend. Im fully aware that what you get for your money in New York City (at Xmas time, no less) is much less and much smaller than what youd get for the same amount elsewhere. But this was unacceptable. When I brought my concerns to the staff, they were nothing short of rude. Stay at a Sheraton, Marriott, Hilton, etc. Same price, much nicer, and Im sure the customer service is better. It couldnt possibly be worse.

2022-01-10Hotel rooms were lovely - small but super cosy and location was really lovely. Right next to Central Park and only a walk away from Times Square. However, we found some of the staff to be quite rude (not all of them, some were lovely but others were really unhelpful and unwelcoming). We stayed for 4 nights but didn’t get the room cleaned at all which I wasn’t too happy about considering we were still paying a considerable amount for the stay. Had to go to reception and ask for new towels because they were so wet and not enough space to dry them - this should have been something cleaning services were changing. Also found room service food to be mediocre for what New York has to offer but definitely charging New York prices!I would stay again but staff need a bit more training in customer service before I do

2022-03-16We had a great stay at the Carnegie hotel. Delia at checkin was friendly and helpful and we were able to check in 3 hours early. When a problem with the a/c occurred the staff quickly attended our needs and moved us to another room. When we had difficulties with the tv Jose was patient and helpful and resolved the situation. The complimentary breakfast, snacks, and wine and cheese were a nice addition to our stay. Additionally, the location made it easy to grab some food or walk to Times Square. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

2021-10-05A+ across the board. Friendly and accommodating staff. Clean and simple rooms with comfortable bed and floor to ceiling windows with a small one that opens. The bathroom has a waterfall feature in shower!! They have a free breakfast in the morning with various pastries, cereals and hit beverages. I was a fan of their cocktail reception from 5-6pm with free wine and cheese/crackers, a great way to kick off the evening. One of the reasons I booked this hotel was location, its 2 blocks from central park and less than a 10 min walk to Radio City. Definitely staying here again!

2021-12-02We loved this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond. The happy hour was really lovely and we also enjoyed the breakfast offerings. The 24 hour coffee was much appreciated. Great location!

2021-08-11I wish I could give this hotel more stars. Everything was amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, there was more free amenities than I could count, and the cleanliness of the room was outstanding; not to mention the shower was PERFECT. I will be going back and recommend this place to everyone. One note is the rooms are a bit small but it didnt bother me. Alexandra, the lovely front desk woman, deserves a raise!
