Went to the Cellar for dinner tonight and like usual, it never lets us down. I felt it was time to leave a review. It doesnt matter if youre going there for brunch on Sundays, lunch during the week, or having dinner....this place is always excellent! You can tell that a lot of time is spent on each dish and thought goes into making everything as delicious as possible. The staff is always so friendly and attentive too. This restaurant never disappoints! And just saying, if youre ever there on Sunday for brunch...the steak and lobster hash is amazing. Get the homemade danishes too. Cant go wrong!
I can’t believe I’ve never known about this place. My sister introduced me to the owner who was very nice and explained a lot of the dishes that they make. It’s very clean and the atmosphere was so relaxing. We are going there for brunch and we are all looking forward to that! The breakfast we had was great, along with great service. The homemade danishes are a must! Although I have not been there for dinner it’s definitely on my list, the menu looks amazing!!
Just go someplace else. They are trying to be a classy place, but it was dirty and dark. Mediocre at best.Edit after owner’s response: Maybe the spiders above the entrance door as soon as you walk in are the cleanest spiders you’ve ever seen. Cobwebs everywhere. Musty smell. It’s not about the colour, the place smells dirty. I must add now, rude cocky hostess/server who thinks that they are doing you a favour by talking to you. Don’t justify when your customers comment. Just admit it. I hope for your sake that you improve.
Went for family Sunday brunch for the 1st time here.1. Worst cup of coffee ever - how do you mess that up? Even had to have the waitress bring us sodas 😑2. Plan on waiting - wait staff was either non existent, not trained or something was difficult for them because it was a wait for every single step.3. Food was good ! It was.. But you will for sure wait some more for the rest of your food and anything you ask for.4. Wanna go back but wont because of bad regular coffee and how long it all takes.Just a shame

I am a Celiac and always nervous about being contaminated at restaurants. The chef knew about cooking gluten free and he took really good care of my special needs. I had one of the best tuna dishes ever! My meal was perfect!
Unstated and underrated for sure. They have very good food at good prices. The staff is just good people and want to show you a good experience. We enjoyed our date night and suggest the Cellar to all our friends. The steak was good, appetizers were delicious and drinks were great. Thank you!
Went here during a weekend getaway with a friend and had an amazing brunch. We had two mimosa pitchers, a sandwich, and eggs benedict. Sooo good and very fresh ingredients. Our waitress (college student) was super fun.
Beautiful place. The food is delicious. We tried the pork chops and the Philly Cheese steak. The margaritas are really good. We will be back!
We usually have a great dinner here . We waited 30 minutes to be seated on Valentines Day while 2 people walked in front of us for take out and one to pay his bill . Then we were seated in front of open bathroom doors . No table should be there that’s just gross . The food was good but waiter was not attentive. I’m hoping it was because of the holiday . Like I said it’s normally a great experience.
Everything Ive ever gotten here has been absolutely fabulous! Ive eaten here many times and never disappointed! The brunch is amazing. Hollandaise from scratch and made the right way! Cant go wrong eating at The Cellar!

I had the special cajun catfish. It was very good. We split a buffalo bacon ranch flat bread pizza also very good. My wife had the chicken bartolucci. It was very good . Staff was friendly. Place was clean. Only thing wrong was potatoes were cold on my wifes plate.
Great restaurant on the finer side of dinning for this area! This place has great steaks a beautiful view and a hard working family who runs this establishment. They also have a great selection of wines some are local but all are of great quality! Always treated with respect and we have never had a bad meal always a great dinning experience! Would recommend this location to anyone!
Our reservation was at 5:00, we were waiting in line while people were walking in for take out orders and they were being taken care of before we were finally seated at 5:20. Then were seated right next to the rest rooms. The waiter took our orders for our drinks and appetizers. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. I ordered the prime rib for 2 that should have come with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, but whe he brought us the bill and questioned him why we did not receive the champagne and strawberries, he replied with that I did not right order the right one but still got charged the full $55 of the special. My wife spoke up when the hostess came to pick up our payment, to ask about our bill about the champagne and strawberries and she said that he must have been confused and brought us the champagne and strawberries in which she said that she threw in one extra strawberry for the misunderstanding in which the strawberries were small in the first place. The prime rib that I received should not have been priced at $55 for the piece that I received. This was supposed to be a special romantic dinner for my wife and myself. We have been there several times prior to this and were very pleased and thats why we decided to have dinner at your establishment. We were very disappointed with our visit tonight, on what was supposed to be a special Valentines Day dinner. It will be a while before we return.
I wish I could spend much more time here after this meal; Im a sucker for chicken fried steak, especially one that is offered atop a bacon, onion and parmesan waffle...
The capacity of the restaurant is likely around 40 people max. The food is excellent, but if there are more than 40 people in the restaurant, be prepared to wait over an hour for your food (even if its just brunch).
I have to say, I really love this place! The vibe is nice, the historic city setting is fitting, the food is phenomenal, and the service was excellent as well. I tried the seafood czarina and it was out of this world! This place is definitely on my list of favorite restaurants in the area now. Great job everyone!!!
Excellent Sunday Brunch!!! Had the Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict with Lobster Hash, in a word amazing. I didnt even know that was a thing. The father son chef team in kitchen sure do have it together back there. Our server was very attentive. The view of the Susquehanna River was enjoyable as well.
One of my favorite restaurants. Totally worth the short drive. The food and wine selection are top-notch. Were fortunate to have such a nice place close by. The chef is excellent, and the atmosphere comfortable and classy. Prices are below what youd find for this level of dining in any city.
Sat at the table for a half hour waiting on drinks and there was only 2 tables with people besides myself. The entire half hour i sat with my 1 year old on my lap and never got offered a high chair. Ordered burgers well done which is about a 10 minute meal to make and 1 hour and 20 minutes later i finally received my food. I bit into my burger and it was so pink and raw that it would be considered very rare or not cooked when i ordered it well done. They brought me my food 10 minutes after that. The meal in total came to 120 and they took 30 off for the inconvenience but unfortunately 30 off did not cover the multiple inconvienences and terrible service incorporated by this establishment. Wish I knew before I walked in just to save me, my wife, and child the trouble of visiting this restaurant.
I used to work here, the food was always great. The people I worked with were all unique in their own way but everyone still got along. The working environment was fast paced but it was alot of fun.
Food was spectacular - filet mignon and seafood sampler very good. Price was reasonable for the area. Good draft beer list including Fiddle Head. Felt like we were getting rushed out - early closing time on Saturday in small town.
The wait staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. My server (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch because I HIGHLY recommend him - all I can say is tall with orange hair and beard - was great about checking in on order status or food outcome without rushing or crowding you. Seafood Czarina (cream sauce mild spice) was phenomenal and well worth the price!! Homemade chocolate raspberry ganache was so delicate and flavorful. Great experience and I cannot wait to return! Only change is I wish they listed their beer offerings.

Went there yesterday for the first time ever for my mothers birthday. What a great atmosphere. The food and service was excellent!! I will be happy to tell my friends and family to try out your restaurant. We will be coming back very soon. Thank you for a great evening of fine service and hospitality.
A very nice restaurant in a lovely old building, lots of character. Was seated in the main dining room but I would recommend seating overlooking the river. I had a seafood dish. Unfortunately the lobster and scallops were somewhat overcooked, however the flavors in the sauce and the pasta were delicious. The other people in my party were pleased with their dinners. I recommend this restaurant and will certainly return.
Great food, definetly worth the stop. Got the Ruben balls, fries oysters and French onion soup as appetizers, all recommended. The steak was done to perfection served with potatoes and a winter squash that was delicious.
Very nice atmosphere. Great service by our server John. We had a burger cooked properly and quite tasty. And the pork tenderloin special. All in all a good meal, great service, and will definitely return again. One of many previous visits, never disappoints.
6 of us had Sunday brunch. Every thing is home made and very good. Back dining area overlooks the river. I would go back.
The ambiance is just right: quietly upscale without being pretentious. The service is spot on, and runs on the formal side, which is actually quite nice.The food is outstanding, fresh and beautifully prepared. The menu is what really makes the restaurant shine, with high-end fare sharing equal space with basic comfort food. Prices are very fair, especially considering the quality youre getting.
Always a wonderful place to go out to. The food is always phenomenal and the staff is even better. I have a wheat allergy and they are very understanding and helpful. The last time I was there, i ordered a drink and I was asked if I would be okay with it because the flavored vodka did not say it was gf, which I was. Lovely atmosphere too.
After hearing positive reviews about this place I was excited to try someplace new. This made my disappointment all the more disheartening when the service was so awful. We left before we were even offered menus as no one seemed to have time for us. The bartender working on Sunday, August 18th was extremely rude to my group of friends when he was informing us of the rules of your restaurant. He was informing us that the staff didn’t want to bring food outside. It must be easier for the staff to provide little/no service at all. My group had one drink and promptly left. I will definitely not be returning here again. I would recommend to anyone considering trying this to keep on looking as no one provided a welcome or even seemed happy to serve my group. It’s embarrassing to take a group of friends here and be so let down.
I love The Cellar! The ahi tuna, smoked salmon, lobster mac n cheese, and house salad are some of my favorites! Whether a burger, salad or a seafood entree its all fresh and delicious. If you havent tried brunch, you must. Always worth the wait!
Neat restaurant with a formal but comfortable feel. I tried beef Wellington which was very good. They were having an Oktoberfest with a buffet that looked delicious and I noticed nearly every other customer seemed to be enjoying. Prices are reasonable while food and presentation were excellent.
The food was very good, worth the price. We went for Valentines Day dinner, the lobster Mac n Cheese was excellent and so was the Seafood Czarina. Our waiter was attentive and kind. He had good suggestions and input about the food. Was attentive to our needs and brought us drink refills. I would recommend eating there for special occasions such as Valentines or anniversary or if you want to treat yourself to a delicious meal.
The food was cold and extremely salty. I took 1 bite and put the dish to the side. The waitress did not come over to ask me how my meal was, and didnt offer another option. I was extremely disappointed.
How have I lived in the area this long and never eaten here? The food was AMAZING! The pulled pork loaded fries were hands-down the best loaded fries Ive ever had. Crispy fries sit on a bed of a heavenly cheddary creamy cheese sauce and are topped with the most flavorful but not overpowering pulled pork, crisp green onions and jalapenos. For my entree I had the NY strip, Gillette style, medium rare. It was cooked to perfection and the Gilette was flavorful and slowly melted perfectly on my steak. The sides were expertly cooked red potatoes and fresh seasoned green beans. Im not normally a fan of veggies, but I could eat these green beans every day. Im sad I was too full for dessert...but not really, because dinner was incredible. Oh, and our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and specials and attentive without hovering. Ill definitely be back.
The Cellar restaurant is a treat every time we go there. From an intimate dinner for two or a family dinner, Bob and Sandy have always delivered. They have a nice bar with great cocktail specials. The decor and atmosphere are very warm and tasteful. My wife and I have ordered almost everything on the menu at one time or another. Its all delicious. We have a hard time deciding. The house salad and dressing is so good! It deserves 6 stars.
Elegant and nice cozy atmosphere. Food was top class and fresh all around.I enjoyed all items tremendously and the spicing was deep and thoughtful.Of course the service was not at the Michelin standard yet is was better for me as it was homey and personal; friendly I guess would be the word.I did not feel like a first time guest I felt like a friend and that makes it taste better!I will be back for sure, hats off to The Cellar Restaurant.
Great staff. Justin and John took care of us well. I came here wanting a Beef Wellington. It was better than expected. I also enjoyed the conversation afterword with John (that I initiated) and his knowledge about Beef Wellingtons. My wife and I both ordered one and she can give her opinion. First rate Chefs, first rate staff. First rate atmosphere. Loved it thanks you.
Always a pleasure to eat here. We didnt have reservations and got lucky. My wife had delicious salmon and I had fried dill pickles and sliders. Looking forward to the next visit.
Great food. Service a little slow, but I will account that because we came in right at the switch to dinner. Bar had to fudge together a drink I ordered from their own menu though and then told me they probably couldnt make a second.
We have always had a great time here. And just once my meal was not what it should of been and sandy took right care of it she made it right . Always greeted with smiles n hello. The waiter or waitress is always so nice and friendly. We took our niece n and hubby sister here and they absolutely loved it. I would recommend this place to anyone. My family and I had made reservations at the Cellar a couple years ago, during the Lights on the River. I was really excited to try out something that was more... elevated/sophisticated in Owego! Atmosphere was great, but I had to give three starts due to the following: Service, being tucked in the booth right by the kitchen (despite having a reservation), and the food not being cooking to proper temperature. Father-in-law couldn’t even eat. (probably due to the rush of the holiday, it’s understandable.) I would definitely give them another go! Impressive menu for the area
Great food in a very historic location! It was amazing, the drinks were amazing as well as the food! Service was slow, but thats understandable. The location is amazing, straight in the center of historic Owego. Parking is free, which was a huge plus!
Ordered stuffed french toast with extra syrup to go. Didnt get any syrup. Called and asked if they would make a fresh one and add syrup. Was told they would not make a fresh one but come back for the syrup. Who wants cold french toast? Very disappointed!
So disappointed, heard nothing but great reviews , however, the service was deplorable. I received nothing but rudeness and incompetence, stayed for one decent and Bloody Mary and ran out of this place . In response to owner , my rudeness issue was addressed for your bartender who berated us in a RUDE attitude about your deck and incompetence for waiting well over 20 min to be acknowledged at a table , no miscommunication issue , just excuses . As a service employee , I professionally recommend you get your waitstaff and their attitudes improved.

Best Restaurant in town/area hands down! I travel all over the US for work and eat out 95% of the time. I promise you Bobs delicious food competes with the best everywhere in this country! Huge menu with options for anyone. You can get a sandwich for around $10 or indulge in there incredible Beef wellington! You cant go wrong with any of there made from scratch meals! I recommend this place to everyone searching for dinner in the owego area!

The Cellar Restaurant can easily go unnoticed in Owego, Pa. My friends, let me tell you, do not miss this place...The food and the views are amazing. We started out with the baked brie. After eating it, I thought all I would really need was a few more plates of it and Id be happy. I wanted to bring a wheel of it home.My Hazelnut crusted duck breast was served medium rare with sweet dried cherry sauce. I believe this was the best duck of my life. It was so tender and cooked to perfection.The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. It was a bit higher in price than most places in the area but worth every penny.UNCLE GERRYS TIP: Spend time in Owego, Pa its a great little city.
This food is incredible. The visual appeal is always spot on, the flavors are developed and refined, the service is impeccable and it is extremely apparent that only the finest and freshest ingredients are used in creating the wonderful dishes served. I really think that it is amazing to find such an amazing, highly skilled chef outside of a major city. He is a rural New York gem that shouldnt be kept a secret.
Food was great. Service was slow. Took over 45 minutes from the time I ordered to the time my meal was served. No apologies were given for slow service even though the place wasnt overly busy. They act like it is your privilege to even be allowed in to eat.. Bartender/waiter was only civil if he knew you personally. Typical stereotype NY snooty service. If you dont care for quality service but desire superb cooking, go here.
A beautiful place to have a nice intimate dinner. Really wonderful food. The wait staff is amazing. Everything was just perfect. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to treat themselves every once in awhile.
Was here last night for my Birthday dinner. This was our third visit. As always, the food was fabulous! Never seen baked brie on any other restaurant menu! This has become my favorite restaurant!!

The food was wonderful and the service was even better despite it being a busy holiday weekend! There was no lag time between meal courses and our waiter was right there at just the right times without hovering over us. Very accommodating.
Horrible service! The waitress, who turned out to be the owner, didnt take our order for a half hour, we didnt recieve our drinks for another 45 minutes, we got our food after being there for an hour and a half. They wouldnt give us enough bread and oil for our whole group (9 people). The waitress/owner was snippy when we asked for refills or more bread. For the amount of money we paid for dinner the portions were tiny. We will definitely not return to this restaurant ever.
Understated, underrated dining experience about 20 minutes west of Binghamton, in quaint riverfront district of Owego, NY. Cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Great pork chop with pepper jelly.
Atmosphere was nice, clean and tidy. The night we went the menu was reduced in offerings compared to what was on the original menu and it was explained to us this was due to graduation weekend. Not to mention all the limited items they did offer in comparison to the current and up to date website menu prices where increased by at least $3-4 each. Again explained due to graduation weekend. We were sat very quickly and offered water and drink orders where taken. The hostess returned with our drinks and some bread crisp and dip for our party. And then we sat for a good 40 minutes waiting for our waitress to return. Never did until we mentioned we would at least like to order our appetizers. They kindly apologized as one waitress thought our table was anothers and vice versa. Nothing was done to comp our long wait. Not ok. Weve dined at many fine restaurants in many large cities and in instances like this the manager has always come over to apologize and offer comps for the table. I wouldnt consider this a total upscale restaurant but it gives that impression by there pricing. The food however was very very pleasing to the pallet as well as dessert!The service not so much. Will we return to give it another try? Absolutely. I have a policy of everyone has a bad day and lets hope this one was it.
We absolutely love the Cellar, hands down one of our go to places every week! Whether youre in the mood for Beef Wellington ( The Absolute Best Ive ever Experienced ) or an amazing Lobster Thermidor you will look no further than the Cellar in Owego! Oh and a Lil something you may not know The Cellar has one of The Best Bar Menus from a juicy burger perfectly prepared to a fried chicken sandwich that will awaken your taste buds and of course their Cellar Potatoe which honestly is the best deal in town as it is a meal on its own! Rumor has it that the Cellar also has the best Cosmo within 150 radius ~ I absolutely agree! So if you havent tried the Cellar in Owego lately - Go! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The Cellar is really great. We try to eat here whenever were in the area. Their beef wellington is phenomenal!We also really enjoy their smoked salmon appetizer.
Absolutely amazing!! Some of the best take-out food weve ever had, highly recommend the pastrami sandwich, the Popeye smoked turkey, and the Reuben balls..sooooo good👌
Good atmosphere and service, great food. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the food was slow to arrive despite the fact there was almost no one else in there (we ate dinner at 3:00 PM). We definitely would go back again!

Among my favorites from way back when they were actually in the cellar. The menu is terrific, the food delicious, and the service is unpretentious with a welcoming, down home neighborly vibe. You can sit in the bar area, the main dining room, or the back porch overlooking the river.
The Cellar Restaurant is a favorite place of mine now! My husband surprised me tonight and made reservations for a romantic dinner. He ordered the Beef Wellingtons for our entrees and the Teriyaki Scallops for our appetizers paired with a house merlot. I had to write a raving review after this wonderful meal. We are avid Gordon Ramsey fans and have been wanting to taste beef wellingtons for some time now. I must say I will never want a filet mignon again without it being a beef Wellington! This meal was simply the best! Even Gordon Ramsey himself would be impressed! I will forever remember this meal as one of my favorites. Thank you Cellar chefs and staff. You are superb! I am in love with your version of Beef Wellington. ❤
The girlfriend and I went there in search of a nice classy sort of place, un-sure what to find. Once we were seated, we were presented with an unique Italian bread/spiced-oil and ice water. She got a regular garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette, which seemed homemade, while I went for, yet another, unique solution of spinach salad with bacon bits and bacon dressing. She went for their Pecan Crusted Pork while I went for the Hazelnut crusted duck. Her exclamation after the first bite or two was This is the best meal, hands down, that I have ever had! and she hadnt even finished it yet! The duck was so tender and perfectly done, each slice was full of a delightful flavor that I cant seem to put to words. It really was one of the best meals weve ever had.We will most definitely be found going there again!
Pricey, but the food was fantastic. Lobster macncheese was buttery, creamy and delicious. Seafood platter was excellent. Raspberry cheesecake is a diet buster but worth the trip..

My chicken wasnt cooked enough. Taste like rubber. Not even warm. I was going to complain about it but Im not a fan of this restaurant. I wont be back.
Good Irish buffet, but the cabbage could have been cooked longer. Service was good. Water glasses were not filled up when the glasses were empty. Need some extra attention to the customer needs.

The food is what is getting the 5 star review and atmosphere. The service however is slow looking for waitress all night for drinks, clear off dirty plates...when it came time to pay bill she was right there....dont let the service stop you because the food was excellent!!
Was not aware of this restaurant until searching for restaurants when out of town relatives came into town. Was pleasantly surprised! The food was absolutely amazing and worth the wait! Will definitely come again!

What a great and unexpected find for us on the road between Ithaca and Binghamton! The mussels were plump and juicy in a simple white wine and garlic broth. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked ... Cut like butter, rare , andseasoned just enough to let the beautiful cut of meat shine through!
I had the rehearsal dinner for my wedding here. The food was delicious and the back room has a beautiful view of the river. The staff is super nice as well!

Wow.. Absolutely wonderful night out.. Went for Valentines day.. Got the beef Wellington and my date got the lobster thermidor.. Everything was fantastic.. Food, service, atmosphere.. Would recommend it to any friend for a great night out.

Actually extremely disappointed. Very over priced and I left hungry. Portions are way too small for $25 a plate. Appearance of plating had something to be desired. $125 for two people and still hungry. Not good.
Very nice atmosphere and have food options for a variety of prices. My friends and I visited in the winter but with nicer weather there would be a really nice view of the water :)

Its very disappointing that they are not open for brunch on the Sunday ofLabor Day weekend. Doesnt do much for those of ua born during Labor Day weekend...
Ive been here a few times. The steaks are always good but the wait can be lengthy. Make sure you have reservations and look for specials!

2021-08-23The food on average was ok, some was good, seafood with pasta was not enjoyable, mojito I would not recommend, beer choices were decent, burgers were good, but fries tasted like they were fried in old oil. Paying with card incurred a fee, had cash, maybe it was noted, but I didnt see and wish they pointed it out, but the did only after charging. Tip for our party was included (which to be honest I dont mind and as some in our group were clearly foreigners, where tipping culture may be different, I understand why staff would want to include), but they didnt mention it when gave bill and added it after taking the CC, calculated on top of tax and non-cash fee, which is not a huge deal, but also a bit sneaky, though otherwise service was good. Overall not a terrible experience, but I wouldnt go out of my way for it.

2018-10-03Friendly staff. Great food. Husband loved the huge mojito. Mussels were delicious, they had lots of garlic. The house salad was tasty as well the homemade red Italian dressing was different but I enjoyed the walnuts and cheese on the salad as well. My husband loved the homemade marinara with his pasta. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stop by.

2021-09-19Service was good, the atmosphere was relaxing, the waitress very friendly and food was very good and plenty. Try the fried mac and cheese with the jalapeno jelly, its not spicy and is very good. Salad with nuts and cheese?? Very good! Fried Reuben balls with that mustard, whoa, so good. Ive been wanting to try this place out, so glad my husband remembered. Will definitely be back.

2021-09-14Wonderful food and excellent staff! Went on a Saturday evening and it was busy, as usual. Never had a meal we didnt like and enjoy and have never experienced long waits. If you want super quick go to a drivethru. These are homemade creations that you cant get just anywhere! Would highly recommend and go there often. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the owners, bar staff, waiters, waitresses and kitchen staff! 😀

2021-06-06We always have a fabulous meal, drinks and service at the Cellar Restaurant! For every special occasion, we book the Cellar! Tonight we celebrated our daughters graduation with her masters... Sandy made sure she had the gluten free appetizers ready for my daughter, the dinners were fantastic, all nine of us had a wonderful evening. They did not rush us, gave us our space to relax and enjoy each others company. The food is always consistent, delicious and plentiful! A must to try!👍🙂❤
