Positive: The room was immaculate and nice, the grounds were gorgeous, I loved the tables outside of the hotel to sit and have coffee. Negative: Two staff members were the rudest women, one was the hostess in the restaurant, and the other was the attendant at breakfast. For this reason, I doubt we would go back there, as we felt intimidated by the rude staff members.
A lovely older hotel right off the main highway. The room was convenient, clean and comfortable. We appreciated the large mini-refrigerator with freezer compartment to keep items cold as we were on a multi-day road trip and carrying some of our food. The breakfast had limited but good hot options (eggs, potatoes, etc.) and the breakfast room was large and had good hours.Service was friendly and helpful.
A pleasant, calm hotel experience. No noise problems at all, really nice free breakfast with real napkins, plates, and silverware. The restaurant is top notch, but it is expensive. Lots of nearby places to eat if your food budget is limited. Had a great meal with friends in the charming dining room. Pleased to see familiar staff from previous visits, so kudos to management for managing to keep good staff through the pandemic!
Really like this spot. They do need to do something about the new bathrooms. My coworker slipped because its so slippery. When we reported it to the people working the that morning he had now idea what to do. We had a early flight so we where to call after 10 and got the run around. Other then that it was a very nice place. FYI the restaurant food was 6 out of 10.
Was here for a conference. What a wonderful experience. Everything was perfect. Service and food was terrific 👌 And on a very bitter day temperature wise we didnt have to go outside for anything! First class all the way. Highly recommend. Wish I could give more than five stars.
This is a quaint and beautiful hotel. On closer inspection, the beauty is only skin deep. Walking in socks it was obvious that there were, what felt like, wires and cables underneath the carpet. Also, while the wallpaper looks good, it is clear that the wall behind had not been smoothed before the wallpaper went up. Bumps and dimples along the wall. Not that big of deal, but not good. A bigger deal was that the curtains were torn. It looked like someone had slashed them with a knife and the seam was coming apart. The curtains still closed. The bed was comfortable. I liked the furniture, matched the decor and feeling of the hotel.I didnt try the restaurant. The breakfast was good. Hot food and metal cutlery. They had corned beef hash for breakfast. I found it odd, but the hash was good, if not a little heavy on the onions.
I was here for a conference today and have attended several conferences here. Nice conference room. Lunch, morning coffee, and service all great. Ive eaten at the restaurant in the past and it was excellent. Havent stayed in the hotel but everything is nicely decorated and very clean. Id recommend to my family and friends.
Friendly staff. Room clean, well appointed. Room redone since our last stay there - kind of industrial farmhouse. Quite nice. Good safety precautions for current environment and great workaround to provide breakfast. Also had dinner delivered to room from Century House Restaurant. Excellent!
The best place to book for a romantic getaway, business conference meeting, wedding and birthday parties....this place has the best food Ive ever had, props to the chef..the sweetest staff members and the most stylish but not over the top accommodation. I really recommend this place for anybody with a taste of class mixed with country... Ill revisit this place over and over again.
Very disappointed !! Spent $$$$ for a room that was smelled of mold. The room was extremely dusty , and actually dirty around the windows. When the AC unit was turned on at night the mold smell became so intense , that my wife and i experienced respritory issues , and my wife became ill and required medical attention when we returned home. I struggled for days , due to my respritory condition and sensitivity to mold and dust. We actually had to wipe the entire rooms surfaces down to minimize the situation , but was unsuccessful. The staff inspected the room and and agreed with us , and moved us to another room for the final night , but we were exposed to these conditions for 3 nights.Totally unacceptable!!!!!The rest of the facility was charming and full of character, and the staff throughout the facility were friendly. However they should not have charged us the PREMIUM prices for that unhealthy roomThe unit on the left is the newer unit in the room we stayed in for the final night , the other older unit is the one that dispersed mold when it was turned on. The staff member acknowledged that the unit was an issue because it was on the shady side of the building.YET THEY BOOKED THAT ROOM TO NOT ONLY IS , THEY PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN THAT ROOM ON THE VERY SAME DAY THEY MOVED US OUT !!!THEY NEED TO RESOLVE THAT ROOMS ISSUE , AND MY EXPERIENCE !!!!I WILL KEEP READERS POSTED WITH UPDATES.
We stayed at the hotel while ago - couple years when were on our cross country road trip. Best hotel best homemade hash for breakfast. Came to late to try restaurant. Definitely our number one place to stay on our upcoming trip. We were fantasizing about that hash and hotel since there. So excited to stop there again this July! Thank you!
The Century House staff is so pleasant and welcoming. Very pleasant setting. Room is very cute and comfortable. They have a really nice restaurant. It is a little pricey but our meal and dessert was delicious. Our waitress Eliza was wonderful and very cheery and pleasant. Great place. Definately will stay again and already sending pics and telling family and friends about them. In this day and age it is so nice to be in a place that is there to serve their customers. Thank you Century House!
Awesome place! Food was delicious, maybe a little overpriced (4 people with drinks, bottle of wine, shared app, meals, 2 desserts, coffee = $300 with tip). But the owner came to our table and shared the history of this beautiful building...great guy! Service was terrific! Will be back!
Getting married at The Century House in Latham, NY was one of the best decision Ive ever made. I could not be happier with my experience. First off, their entire property is beautiful, top to bottom, and every room about outside space provides the perfect backdrop for pictures. On the topic of beauty, the staff has an amazing eye for the decorating a wedding. My wedding was Halloween themed, and we decided to hand boxes and bags of family Halloween decorations over to the Century house to use as they saw fit in the ballroom. When they were done, I was floored! I never knew a Halloween theme could be so elegant! The staff turned the Main Ballroom into a Halloween wonderland that left us all in tears. Walking down the aisle was the most magical moment of my life. There is not a thing I would change. The staff are not only amazing decorators, they are extremely accommodating. If you need anything, they are right there to help with a friendly attitude. In addition,The Century House is also very conveniently located near the Albany Airport. They provide a shuttle service for the hotel guests, which really helped out my family. Lastly, the food is so delicious. All of my guests were raving about it. Anyone planning a wedding should seriously consider The Century House. You will not be disappointed!
The room is really filthy, moldy lampshades, dusty fabric headboards (no idea how they would ever keep those clean between guests anyway).Dust on the decor and spiderwebs on the corner.I really wanted to love this place and I walked in the room thinking wow until we looked closer.Compared the lampshades to the photos on their website and everything thinking maybe they were supposed to be spotted. They are not. Theyre just moldy. Was also told wed be able to order from the restaurant but nobody even answered the phone when we called around 5:30.If this was supposed to be for a really special event like a wedding Id be really upset.Im usually pretty chill but moldy lampshades is pushing it way too far for me.
I live in hotels every week and I gave this hotel 5 stars from my personal experience. Im 38, old fashioned, so the outdated look of this hotel was perfect for me. The beds were very comfortable to me and thats a plus. I havent had a wonderful breakfast from a hotel in a long time. The food was great and had a very nice selection to choose from. The best part of my whole stay, was the front desk staff. Every single one of them was very polite and respectful. Definitely a top notch hotel in my eyes. I will definitely stay there again in the future.
Attended a holiday party. The food was really good and the staff was very nice. the parking at the location can be a bit of a pain depending on the event going on but it is not too terrible. I would recommend checking this place out if you are looking for a place to have an event for a special occasion. The century house is really nice looking inside and outside is well maintained.
The Century House was clean and the room was wonderful. The restaurant was outstanding. But what makes the stay great are the staff. I cant say enough from Monica, to Fran to Sandra at the restaurant. All were wonderful and friendly. The friendly atmosphere was with the maintenance staff, housekeepers to the breakfast chef - all made you feel welcome and special. Nicest place I stayed in! Thank you
Horrible, disgusting hotel. Room was smelly, carpet was old, worn, and dirty. Bathroom had peeling paint on ceiling, shower curtain was stained and dirty. Exercise room was a joke. Broken, old, equipment. Old television. Should just close down. Needs serious remodeling. There are far nicer, more modern, hotels in the general area for substantially less. Dont stay here. Youll kick yourself.
I stayed here for one night on a week night. Upon arrival the staff were courteous and friendly. There was a small hiccup when they gave me a room that hadnt been prepared but they fixed that right away. The hotel has a cozy feel to it and an attached restaurant. The room was great. Everything was in good order, it was neat and it was clean. Although the hotel has an older look all the rooms have modern furnishings and nice glass showers. I had no noise issues and the beds and sheets were very comfortable. I have been traveling frequently and this is one of the better stays I have had.The attached restaurant was very nice, I ate at the bar. The menu seemed upper scale and was priced that way. I had a burger and it was quite good. They had a good selection of local beers on tap and the service was great.Checkout was quick and the free breakfast was on par with most. It was nothing memorable but adequate and had a buffet style selection of hot food. Apparently the corn beef hash was the dish most were getting but thats not my thing so I had eggs and sausage and potatoes.Overall this place performed well above what I expected for the price and I would stay again.
Cant say anything bad about the place. Had our wedding there and didnt get any complaints. The food was fantastic, the ballrooms are very nice the hotel rooms are good, and all the staff was absolutely great. The facility wouldnt be what I call outdated, but it is old style and very nice.
My husband and I stayed here recently for four nights. We were in town for a wedding and the reception was held at this hotel. We cannot say enough how wonderful our stay was here. The people, from the desk to the breakfast to housekeeping to the restaurant were warm, open, inviting, and accommodating. We travel often and this has to be one of the best stays we have had in a long time. We stayed in a recently refreshed room and the decor was comfortable, updated, and homey. The breakfast each morning was very good as was the food in the restaurant. The wedding reception was very well done also: great decor, plenty of tasty food, and comfortable rooms. I would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers as well as to any prospective brides searching for a perfect wedding venue. Id love to see this place in the summer, as we were there in February, and so we might just have to return for a vacation in the future. Monica and Fran were kind and personable, while Liz went above and beyond during the reception service. I wish I would have learned the housekeeping/breakfast servers name, but she was kind, accommodating, funny, and personable as well.
I attended a wedding reception at The Century House. The meal was delicious. The service provided by the hotel staff was courteous and professional. All of the staff were friendly and seemed concerned that everyone was satisfied. The room was well arranged and clean. All around the hotel provided a nice pleasant experience.
I was looking for an alternative to the chain hotels and this hotel was a random choice based on recent reviews. The room was recently renovated and very nice. The hotel is older but has style and a rustic feel. I ate in the bar at the restaurant and the draft beer was super fresh and ice cold served in a frosted glass. The dinner was well prepared and hot. The place seems well nanaged and its a great alternative to staying at a chain that offers the same old what you see is what you get.
Had a much better experience with this property this time. There was a problem with a damp, musty room the last time we stayed but this time there was no problem. The rooms smelled fresh and there was no sign of dampness. The breakfast was very good. We complimented the woman who prepared the food who was gracious enough to walk around the room to ask if everything was okay.Thank you
We attended a Christmas party at Century House and stayed overnight. The white ballroom was really nice and cozy and the food served was delicious. The staff working the party and the hotel staff were friendly and courteous. The whole facility was clean and classy. The hotel bed was so comfortable too!
Typical wedding place, nothing stands out. Food was good, but not extraordinary. Overall style is a little dated. We got a room for the night; king size bed was so soft we both ended up sunk in the bed. Other than that, room was clean, but there was a hint of cigarette smoke, even though we got a no smoking room. Overall it was just ok in my opinion.
Ok, it’s not the newest property. But is that a detriment or the sign of a hotel with character? I believe it’s character! Friendly and helpful staff. Good site for an event, and the room rates are very reasonable. Maybe a bit more sounds heard from adjoining rooms, but mostly tolerable. Be aware the two-level hotel does not have an elevator. The restaurant is charming, with better than average tap beverages. If you are in a hurry let them know before they seat you.Follow up: Returned for another stay. Same friendly professional service. Also found a nice nature trail behind the property, for a pleasant, quiet and easy walk. And cookies in the evening... who doesn’t like cookies?!? Great place, and I hope to return in the future.
We were there for a two-day conference. The meeting room we were in was very Pleasant and well lit. The food was excellent. Plus, for every meal that is sold to a guest another meal is donated. Some of the attendees stayed overnight at the attached hotel and reported very favorably. Available parking was very good.
Wonderful comfortable stay. Staff was polite, helpful and conscientious. Only constructive criticism: there needs to be another shower bar in the rear of the shower and one in the middle. For safety. I didnt feel very secure in the shower. Also there should be another soap dish or shelf higher in the shower so that you didnt have to bend. And lastly, since I have back issues, it would have been helpful if the toilet was a little higher. Otherwise the hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast had hot and cold items as well as a variety of beverages, cereals, and breads. Everything was delicious.
The General Manager was so nice, friendly, and helpful. She went out of her way so many times. The chef is the grandma to you that you want if your away from home. (Loving and always looking to feed you more). Bed nice and cozy. Loved everything about this place. Mark them on your map if your traveling thru the area.
Nice hotel.- Clean Rooms and restroom- Restaurant is attached with decent options- Morning free hot breakfast is great with multiple options.- Great employees at the front desk.- Its an Old hotel with a beautiful architecture.- Internet is good and fast.Za at the front desk was very helpful.
Really friendly hotel with lots of positive ideas and attitudes. Rooms are quite large and had a proper fridge and microwave as well as the usual coffee machine. Complementary hot soup on arrival as well as coffee tea etc. Restaurant has a good choice of stuff too. The complementary breakfast was much better than most places. Felt like the kind of place that will go the extra effort to make stuff work for the guests.
Visited for a wedding reception, everything went very well. Food was excellent, staff was very friendly. There was a miscommunication between the century house staff and the couple getting married with regard to when the bar closed, which was a small damper at the end of the night. Overall was good, but they really didnt do much to appease the couple for what seemed like a large oversight on the part of the hotel.

2022-05-28Before I arrived my wife told me something about the staff not being able to come I during the stay because of COVID which Ive experienced before. However, this place is unacceptable and I feel gross staying here. All the wooden surfaces are dusty and in some cases have old liquid stains on them(all the furniture is wooden). I found random stains and hairs on the pillow cases which makes me think they arent cleaned unless theyre visibly dirty.I usually like to walk around barefoot but the carpets dont even feel clean. To top it off, we want to turn on the AC but the unit looks dirty and I feel like it would just kick up dust while were sleep We have a friend who paid for our stay for the weekend but Im probably going to check out in the morning and stay somewhere else

2022-05-27Amazing hotel, well kept, clean. Best customer service weve had. They were able to accommodate us and our three dogs, even with a website error, they went above and beyond to find us a room when one that was marked as pet friendly was not supposed to be. Very comfortable beds, quiet hotel. Easy to access off route 9.

2022-05-31We were in Albany for the weekend and stayed at this hotel. The location is very convenient and close to the airport. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within a few miles. Note: this is not a walking town, you will need a car to get around. The check in process was fine, nothing great, but OK. The beds are comfortable and there is a microwave and refrigerator. The grounds are lovely. There is a nice patio area outside of the restaurant. The hotel appears clean. You do not receive any service during your stay. With only have 1 small trash can in the room it becomes quite a hassle. The breakfast buffet is horrible! There was breakfast meat 1 out of the 3 days. It was bacon sitting a pool of grease. The eggs were watery. There is one small household toaster so there is always a line. We ate breakfast one morning but went out the other mornings. They really should either do a better job on breakfast or drop it.

2022-05-03A non-standard hotel with its own personality… we attended a wedding and reception at the hotel and restaurant (ballroom) and had a great time.I had only one issue and that was with the ChargePoint charger on-site at the hotel. I confirmed the day of arrival that it was there and working and found the sign attached when I went to charge. The person at the desk said “not all of know about that so, sorry you were told wrong.” Nearby chargers suggested were at car dealerships and were not available on the weekends. If you have an electric vehicle, plan accordingly.

2022-05-22Everyone at this hotel were great. Rooms are nice size. Hotel has a more classic vibe. Used the Commons room for a hospitality room which was a really good size room. Excellent breakfast comes with your room. Very good coffee. My only downside was that the hotel has no elevator. I was on the second floor for the rear side. You can get in the hotel on that level but coming in the catering venue side. Personnel were helpful and friendly

2021-11-22Stayed here for a wedding. Very comfortable beds and spacious rooms! modern and up to date feel. Bathrooms are clean and great water pressure for the showers. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there was no blanket for the pull-out couch in the room so I had to give my sheet to my friend. Called down to front desk and they didnt have any spare blankets. Overall, a great experience.

2021-12-06My wife and I stayed here in August on a road trip. Seemed like a nice place, good breakfast buffet, and they gave us an upgraded room, which turned out to be the honeymoon suite. Thats where the niceties ended. Seemed like the room had been updated recently but there were many issues with cleanliness, of which I wont bore you. I ended up helping myself to an open cleaning closet just to make the bathroom and rest of the suit acceptable and comfortable to use for the night. If I had paid full price for this room, I would have been pretty upset. But, heres the worst of it, about 9am the next morning 2 employees with a clipboard literally unlock the door and walk right in on us while were getting ready for the day. No knock or courtesy call, nothing. Just swiped their card and busted right in. When they realized it was occupied, one of them mumbled a quick sorry and we could hear them laughing as they moved down the hallway. Mind you, we had the door locked, and its also 9am, with a do not disturb placard on the handle. We told the front desk what happened as we were checking out and the lady said they were new employees and shed make sure to let them know to knock first next time but did not offer any refunds or attempt to rectify the situation further.

2021-10-03Positive: Nice, large, renovated rooms with wood floors. I hate hotel carpeting! The bed was very comfy and the bedding was nice quality. The restaurant had a good menu and we ordered for pick up and ate in our room. Would definitely return if I¿m in that area.

2021-11-24The Century House is my go to every time I visit home! They help make me feel like I’m home even at a hotel! The entire staff is always so sweet (front desk, housekeeping, kitchen, and especially management). The manager, Monica always seems to be there and always personally makes sure that our stay is the best it can be. And to top it all off they are pet friendly! Forever recommending The Century House!
