The Clocktower in other cities:
Ambiance: very nice 4 stars, tablecloths would be a nice touch or coasters for drinks otherwise table just has water stains on it.Service: 2/3 stars felt like nobody checked in on us. Waitress asked us for a second round of drinks since we were empty before our entree arrived. Food arrived and we waited longer than we should have for the drinks to enjoy with our food.Food: I thought everything was average at best, the best thing we had was the toffee pudding.Over all for almost a 300 meal with 2 rounds of drinks I would not return again. Drinks are solid just go to their bar instead of eating there
I would love to give this 1 star Michelin restaurant 5 stars however it fell short on the service although kind very slow. And the entrees. We ordered the beef Wellington and Shepard’s pie. Shepard’s pie was salty and the beef Wellington flavors didn’t incorporate well. However, the drinks were incredible, and the heirloom tomato appetizer was 10/10 the perfect balance of creamy and sweet/sour! The dessert was incredible as well.I understand they may be short staffed and the entrees are how the dishes are traditionally made. I would come back for the appetizers and drinks!
The decor is very neat, with a winding staircase to get up to the restaurant, high ceilings, and large paintings and framed photos covering the walls to give it a very unique atmosphere. The food and cocktails were fantastic. The highlight was definitely the Mac and cheese with ox tail, which I can easily say is the best Mac and cheese Ive ever had.Highly recommend!
Though this is a MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT I honestly EXPECTED MORE. The WEST COAST OYSTERS WERE PHENOMENAL & The FRESHLY BAKED BREAD was the star of the show. The burger on the other hand, the main reason we went there, was LESS THAN SPECTACULAR. The service was IMPECCABLE, as expected. The staff was very well trained and attentive ; they came in between courses and CLEANED OFF THE TABLE & changed the utensils which is always something you want to see at this level of dining. When it came to the desert, I really really enjoyed the JASMINE TEA. Very DISTINGUISHED from the usual jasmine tea I have at home.Must Haves :• Berners Tavern macaroni and cheese• Dry Aged Burger ( Still worth trying )• West Coast Oysters
Dark place with interesting pictures on the walls. There is a guide for when you table is arguing /betting on who is who in the pictures. We had the Porkchop & the Wellington. Both were excellent. The starters were small, but the staff was friendly and attentive. Some of the rooms were loud. We asked to move to the Blue Room as its quieter.
This was the first michelin star restaurant I have ever been to and the food and service was amazing. The staff was very knowledgeable and always filled up our waters whenever theyd walk by. The prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was great. We had the truffle risotto and the tandoori chicken... so good! Thanks for a great first michelin star experience.
We had a great time here the room was very nice and we had a lovely meal here, the steak was good and I had the Shepards pie. The service was a little slow, I had to ask every time for a refill water.thw second round of cocktails arrived only after I asked where they were as we were finishing our meal, although they did apologize and gave us a free desert (I would have preferred the free cocktails!!).
I ordered app/entree from what waiter recommended. Scotch egg and pork chop. We shared potted salmon. Spouse got fish/chips. Food all excellent. But i was served beef wellington then had arm twisted telling me I had ordered it. Was resolved after a short wait but still their screw up.
A chic and warm place. The drink and food are a bit pricey but it does worth! The decoration is a breathtaking! The team were very professional, the food has a spectacular taste !Not noisy and the people there are decent.A perfect place if you wanna hang out with your friends or partner to talk or to talk business.Although a wonderful place for a date!It was snowing that night, I stopped by to eat quickly and get some wine.Yet I was freezing and the bartender offered me a hot tea with rum for free!It was so nice of him!A big 5 stars (except the price but it worth, it’s a Michelin bar/restaurant)To visit !
Top notch American/British restaurant. Order the 40 year old dry aged steak - its perfect. The ambiance is great and feels like a cool swanky private club. Staff is super friendly which made up for a few service hicccups during our meal. My only compliant is the wine tasting which at $55 bucks i thought would include wine for each of the three courses, but no we only received 2 glasses of wine. $200 bucks a person with drinks and tip. We will be returning.
Great ambience and very delicious food. I found the scallops to be some of the best and most well prepared ones I have ever had. The cucumber salad was worth a try and I was not disappointed. It was an excellent taste experience. I went for the halibut fish which was nice and fresh and I enjoyed the veggies which complimented the fish very well. Great bar where you can have a drink before or after dinner.
The fish n chips they served here was phenomenal. The breading was so light and fluffy and crisp, while the fish almost melted away in my mouth. They also served complementary fresh! warm! bread and whipped butter which was amazing. The fries were nothing special though. The wait staff was very attentive and polite,
Excellent Michelin star restaurant which we got to try during Restaurant week. We booked our table couple weeks before restaurant week to ensure we didnt miss our chance. Entrance was via a spiral staircase which was after walking through a plush lounge in Edition hotel. They got us promptly seated and started us off with fresh baked warm bread with whipped butter with sea salt. Our 3 course meal was amazing. The lamb shepards pie was simply delicious. Must try during restaurant week or regular dinner if you can.
Yet another big enigma of how Michelin Guide operates in NYC, and what criteria are being used. Now, we may have thought - as an excuse for the Clocktower - that the restaurants dinner is what makes it special, and our brunch and breakfast are not representative of the establishment as a whole, but we have tried - on two separate occasions - eight different dishes, so our assessment is accurate. If it is not, and the restaurants dinner is so much superior to their brunch and breakfast, then the latter meals shouldnt be served not to ruin the alleged reputation of the Clocktower.Nothing specifically wrong about the Clocktower, but nothing is equally great about it. Out of eight dishes we got to sample, only the Chilled Maine Lobster (an appetizer offered for $32) was qualified to be very good, a true specimen of what haute cuisine should be like. The other appetizer (Crab on Toast, offered for $26) was decent but nothing more than that. Everything else was very very average, with no twist, no daring, no fantasy, and apparently not so much of an effort. The brunch main course, Skirt steak and Chips ($39) was on par with what other 90% of NYC (and not only) restaurants offer, and for much lesser price at that. The Roasted Mushroom, Goat Cheese and Spinach Omelette was mediocre, with no discernable mushrooms, goat cheese nor spinach. Our brunch desserts, both the Custard and Almond Tart and Zucchini Tart were not bad, but could have easily come from a Pret-A-Manger around the corner. And, as noted by other reviewers, the place is more than overpriced. A glass of 2011 CHÂTEAU LA TOUR DE MONS that retails at $22 for a bottle was offered at $25 a glass. The service was good, but, again, nothing memorable. The interior features interesting enfilade, a suite of succeeding dining rooms that slightly differ in design, but the decor is very reminiscent of a chan restaurant, or - we will give it to the Clocktower - a chain steakhouse, with the same generic photographs of bygone New York.Three stars are given for the restaurants Chilled Maine Lobster. Otherwise it would have honestly merited 2 stars.
There’s only one way to describe the food here, perfection. We tried about seven different plates and I was blown away with the presentation and flavor (get the crudo!). I knew I was heading to a Michelin star restaurant, but the food was even better than expected. I’m only rating 4 because I had a “unique” experience with the team there. I’d still recommend it to anyone, you won’t be disappointed, I likely was just unlucky this particular evening.
This fine dining restaurant is one of a kind. The decor is beautiful and intimate. The service is impeccable. And the food is delectable. Definitely recommend it. The bread and butter are super fresh. Tried foie gras for the first time and it was a delicious and well rounded dish. The ox cheeks pie was rich, flavorful, and delicious. The mousse was exquisite and the goat cheese “sorbet” was exotic.
2/14/20 our valentine day is a special thing for us. I surprise my lady to this restaurant since she been wanting to come here. When we first came in to the restaurant the vibe was nice and really fancy. However, they change the menu on the day of valentine day without letting us know ahead of time in their website. It was $136 per person for 6 courses. The first course was 2 oysters. The 2nd was fish which my girlfriend was not a fan of it. We told the waitress if we can Substitute but she said “ are you allergic”? My girlfriend said “no” but she does not eat fish at all. Then the waitress just ignored it. The 3rd course it did come until 45 mins like literally 45 mins. In addition to that it was really cold inside and our legs were numbing from it. There was a draft of cold coming in behind us. My girlfriend was wearing dress so she was extra cold. The person who sat next to us who was pregnant complain how cold it was to the waitress then she said “aww you’re cold” what’s? Like for a fancy place like that you don’t have heat? Then 4th course came to our table which was very tiny and they added some extra flame to make it look fancy but when you eat it, it taste like gas and alcohol nail polish remover. Then we waited for another 20 mins For the other food to come. It was ice cream and something else very satisfying. Then after that a tall guy with a suit I think he was the manager give us a check but we realized they only give us 5th course. Not 6th. A lot of waiter and waitress was running around looking so busy but forget to attend to there customer. Then we complain how they didn’t give us our 6th course. Waitress apology but not very polite and the waiter came with the food with attitude and slam the plate in the table.Overall: for a fancy and very expensive place like this it is not worth of coming specially the customer service really suck. The food take way to long to come. We were cold because we sat next to the big window no one took care of it. They forgot our 6th course like how? I thought the people were way to professional? We thought wrong. We were having a good time because we have each other but the experience itself being there it’s a mission because we got tired of sitting and waiting. We were there for almost 3 hours. Deeply in our feeling we wanted to leave but we didn’t wanna ruin our night. The totally was $$$$. Definitely not recommend and I will be sharing this to my audience as well.Instagram @Kenexplorer
This is by far one of the top British restaurant. I do have some doubts over British cuisine but the Clocktower brings out so much favor and appetizing presentation. They have a few beautifully polished rooms with tables and bar, and the service was friendly and prompt. I highly recommend this place.
Had a very enjoyable work brunch here with some friends from out of town. Excellent eggs over easy, pork fennel sausage and nicely seasoned home fries. Good fresh ground coffee. Be sure to take the spiral staircase up from the lobby. Much of the allure of this place is its old New York business ambience. While the hotel is modern sheik the restaurant, which was evidently an executive waiting area, has been left with its original wood paneling, ornate fireplaces, and high curved ceilings with photos filling every inch above the paneling.
Attempting. Very exquisite match to the Edition hotel, because this restaurant is truly an ecstatic edition. 1930’s Britain’s renovation. The spirit here is like an old whiskey bar, with billiards they allow you to play. The service was reputable on high respect. From a deluxe goddess food to the major atmosphere, there is one complaint that is rather potential. The foie gras. The foie gras tasted like chicken liver instead of duck liver, and there was a jellyish coating outside, which had an unnatural flavor. Though, the thoughts are still wobbly, the restaurant is great for foodies.😋👍🍷
Amazing restaurant located inside the New York Edition Hotel. We came here for breakfast and Im so glad we did. Ive honestly never had better French Toast in my life! The Lobster Omelette was equally impressive. The restaurant is decorated with beautifully framed photos and boasts a pool table and full bar.I definitely recommend popping in for breakfast/brunch.Worth going back just for that French Toast!
Stunning venue, very similar decor to the restaurant in the London Edition. Food was ok, the filet steak was large but dry and the only sauce on offer was Bearnaise. When we asked if they could do a peppercorn sauce the waiter gave a very blunt no. Overall experience was slightly disappointing which the restaurant being more style over substance
Inside The Clocktower feels both elegant and relaxed. We were met by friendly staffers, had enjoyable conversations at the bar and appreciated the vintage lifestyle pictures/frames on each wall. For appetizers we ate a creamy foie gras spread over toast while also fighting for the last warm piece of sourdough bread. For dinner I ate a to-die-for Dover Sole in drinkable beurre blanc sauce. My girlfriend ate a perfectly cooked steak. For dessert we shared some banana thing that was crispy and sticky, but the real highlight was a side of hazelnut ice cream. Would recommend!!!!
The ambience and staff were excellent. The wait staff helped me celebrate my partners birthday by adding a candle to his dessert and singing. The mac and cheese (with ox cheek) starter was surprisingly tasty. The dessert, especially the sticky toffee pudding, was phenomenal! Overall, it was an elegant yet cozy experience. The Clocktower would be a great place for a date, a family celebration, or even a work event.
What an experience to remember, from the delicious cuisine to the most attentive and friendly staff. Add on the ambience of the space, its a beautiful blend to create a high-class and swanky dining experience. Cant wait to return to try the other dishes, wines and cocktails.Absolutely recommend!
Kicked off a weekend in NYC here and couldnt have been happier. From the decor, to the service, to the food, everything was exactly what you would expect from such a highly rated place. Food preparations were generally simple and just let the ingredients and quality shine through. I have to highly recommend the yellowtail appetizer and the skirt steak. Both were exceptional, especially the yellowtail. Could not think of one way the experience could be improved. Also got free champagne and cheesecake on my birthday so that was also a bonus.
This is another go to restaurant for my husband and I. The food is fantastic and satisfying. We didnt even realize this place had a Michelin star, and tbh, both of us tend to veer away from Michelin restaurants as we dont jive with the small portion, pretty food, innovation vibe. This place in contrast has a good grip on reality. Its elevated gastropub fare, done so well. The setting is beautiful and the servers, despite worker at an elite restaurant, are very down to earth and friendly. Thats always a plus!We love their bread and butter, which comes softened and salted. Their liver pate with brioche is so decadent. The beef wellington is very beautifully made. Also their fish and chips! Lol. The fish is fried to crispy and crunchy perfection. Its how I imagined it to be before trying fish and chips in england. I do think the fries are too thick for my taste...too much soft potato to crispy exterior, not anything to really complain about though.
Food: Was good, but underwhelming. The famous sourdough bread was bland and just okay.Atmosphere: The music was loud which caused other people in the restaurant to yell over each other. The place is clean though.Service: Was overdone at times, but underdone at the important times. They were prompt at changing silverware and wiping off the table in between meals, but ordering took longer. We were going to order dessert, but decided not to when the waiter took too long.
Somewhat pricey for brunch ($90 incl tax & tip for 2). The tea was weaker than I like (figured the tea would be good since they have a UK sensibility), but the service was nice. A lot of free tables, so it was a very leisurely meal. Our food orders took a long time to come out of the kitchen (which is a bit of a walk away, so maybe thats why they werent aware of the miss). We had the Mushrooms on Toast and the Salmon Eggs Royale. Both were tasty and well-executed, though the portion was not very large. They used a ton of butter in the Mushrooms on Toast, so it was heavy despite being small. We did order the Chocolate cake from the Dessert Trolley since we were still a bit hungry.Other comments: Good place to have a conversation. On second floor of the hotel, so either use stairs or elevator to go to the Restaurant Level.
Attended a casual business meal and the food was absolutely stunning- sublime scallops with a light caramelisation and a melt in the mouth texture on a bed of lentils, followed by steak and real chips (not those skinny rubbish) and a dessert made from peas. this did give a peculiar savoury/sweet taste but it was lovely. The food is magical. The service is one of the best that I have experienced in NY in a few years. They are extremely well trained.
This place never disappoints. Great atmosphere and beautiful space.. the semicircle bar is comfortable for conversation and the cocktails are creative and well crafted. The three dining rooms are each interesting ... Theres really not a bad table. The vintage photos are fabulous! And the food is best described as well designed. All of the dishes sound like simple comfort food on the menu. And they are, but in a clever, refined execution ... What arrives at you table looks like fine dining plates, but has the depth of flavor of good comfort pub food.
Food was delicious... many intricate and varying flavors. The dishes were artfully presented and felt very contemporary. The staff was nice. My one complaint is going to be the service... it was a bit on the slow side and not quite up to the level of other Michelin star restaurant I have visited. Regardless, I would recommend eating at this restaurant.
Excellent food and service. Food was really went presented, and flavors were as good as the presentation. Great choice of wines too - though v much at the high end. We had table for 6.30pm, but by 8pm the place was a little too packed - would not have enjoyed the evening as much if we were in such a noisy, crowded place all evening.
Chic but somehow you still feel at home. The servers are beyond friendly but not overbearing. I came before there was a brunch menu but would come back and try it. The burger is meaty and delicious. All the toppings complement nicely to make a nice juicy burger. Its pricey just like most of the menu but the atmosphere is chic and cool that the price tag is more justifiable. Friend had the salmon and it was perfect. It was also one of those plates where you definitely eat with your eyes first. They also have a cool bar room.
So delicious!!! And the cocktails were fun and creative. Its such a beautiful restaurant and it has really nice high ceilings. Everything we ordered exceeded my expectations. Even the warm bread with salted butter was amazing. Highly recommend! It has a really fun fancy New York City vibe. Perfect place to have a late dinner before going out.
Amazing food. Beautiful venue. Was there on Saturday night with a group of 8 people. Everyone was having a great time until the pork chop I got had a shard of bone hidden inside it. Not the restaurant’s fault but it is something that never should have happened in a place as fancy as The Clocktower. Told the manager about it who then made excuses how it wasn’t their fault. He should of just said “can’t believe that happened, pork chop on us.” I was left very confused after talking to the manager. I then asked for the bill but before they brought it, they surprised us with dessert. Thanks???... I just wanted to leave. They did end up taking off the pork chop.I would recommend this place again. I just did not like how they handled my issue.
Service and ambiance were impeccable and the quality of the food outstanding. Great attention to detail. After we rejected the goat cheese desert as being a bit heavier than what we desired and ordered simple sorbet, the server brought us that desert complimentary because she felt we just had to try it. She was right! The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and didnt try to up sell us. We had a wonderful bottle of The Mascot.
We went here for Christmas Day breakfast and cocktails. The service team was most hospitable, decor and ambiance were lovely, and our Christmas breakfast was scrumptious. Also, I appreciated the healthy human (aka not XL) sized portions. The food was ample without being excessive. There was a festive holiday popper at every seat at our table, which was a nice touch. Drinks in the bar afterward were on the pricey side but hey its NYC. Service again was excellent and cocktails were very nice. Execellent experience and would definitely go back.
This place is absolutely amazing! The ambiance is gorgeous there and the wait staff is very attentive. The food was superb, the earl grey soufflé is a bit of a wait, but well worth it! The food was all prepared perfectly and presented so well. The place is very well worth the price, but make sure to make a reservation to get in. Would recommend making sure you put aside plenty of time to just enjoy the delicious food and to take advantage of the intimate atmosphere. Highly recommended for a truly delightful NYC dining experience!
We went here for a quick drink, prices were a bit much. The looks from service were ridiculous... we are tourist from a warm climate and the staff looked at us like we were trash walking in the door. Gave them the benefit of the doubt, but honestly was not worth our money. The cost of most of the drinks is dumb, anyone that can do basic math should understand this.Go across the street. Dont remember the name, just said bar and restaurant. Atmosphere was way better, more relaxed, and more fun. We didnt have the food, so I cant speak to that... But everything else was great.Would give 0 stars, but I cant.Edit.Didnt get a British vibe from this place, and I lived there for several years. If you want to feel upscale go here, but if you want to get what you actually pay for literally go anywhere else.
Very, very high end. Two large scallops in the appetizer dish, very tasty. The Burrata salad was served with a sprinkling of orange / lemon zest, also tasty but lacked the salad portion, a bed of lettuce.A 4oz shaving of Provence truffles were offered over any entry but at $80....maybe not. A house made large bread roll was the highlight of the meal. It was served warm and perfectly crusty outside, served with butter.
Excellent friendly service all around and a really comfortable atmosphere sort of like a club dining room / gastropub. Four of us went for dinner and were seated by the fireplace. It was packed and noisy (as the Edition usually is) but manageable. Try to avoid being seated near the thoroughfare unless you like the occasional bump in the back of your chair. The menu is sort of a creative spin on traditional British/Continental dishes but a bit pricey for the taste. There was so little foie gras in my appetizer that I forgot it was foie gras and two of us thought the glaze on our mains were too salty (cod, steak and I think duck). A good experience overall and great ambience but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way unless you’re in Flatiron or a real fan of the menu.
I love the layout and interiors of The Clocktower. The walls are packed with pictures, which gives the restaurant a cozy feel. Tables are nicely spaced out so its cozy not at the expense of privacy.Service is great too. Food is as good as anything else. I was disappointed with my entré so taking one star off.
Great burger.... sat at the bar, very nice decor but very suited to winter time location. Not summery ( it’s August). Prob the most I’ve ever spent on a Montauk summer ale (13 bucks) which was served in a slightly warm thick glass, didn’t do the beer any favors. Also, I ordered fries, and my friend didn’t want them, bartender took that to mean neither of us wanted them. I eventually got them just well after I finished my burger.
The clock tower i definitely expected better...from the entrance the service us ok to seating in an open room one of a few they have. The table service is again ok definitely had better in less acclaimed places. The food: appetizers were good oysters very well presented. The main course i ordered their NY strip 40 days agen steak i asked medium rare or chef taste. Got a well done steak ...come oooonnnn...the food is basically delivere to your table in no special manner or with little to no attention to details such as your satisfaction with their 40 days aged steak...their reaction to my concern was no better than a 1 star restaurant would have. They aaked if i wanted to change it...the second steak 20 minutes later was on point with the temo and it was a good peace of meat...Desert was different, cery unique i would recommend the rubbys cube dessert with the different types of icecream
I literally traveled all the way from Las Vegas to eat here and it did not disappoint. I think its really hard to maintain the same level of quality throughout all of your restaurants across the globe but my hats off to you Mr. Atherton. I love the ambience, the vibe, the cocktail menu. Service is phenomenal, staff is exceptional and standards are high. It is all about the guest here. Special occasion place for sure. The rumors about the bread are true: Its amazing! All I needed was a piece of cheese and that couldve been my entree. Although the menu is quite adventurous and I wouldnt order the same thing again - Im glad I tried it. Nothing is bad! Save room for dessert as hand on bible the pink lady apple tart tatin is the best dessert Ive ever had.Lastly, thank you for making my birthday dinner truly special. From a thoughtful, handwritten note to complimentary champagne for everyone at the table. I know you dont have to do that but I felt as if they wanted to and thats the difference between a good restaurant and a great one.
You walk through the beautiful EDITION hotel with its sleek lines and perfect modern decor and ascend an impressive spiral staircase to come upon what feels like an elite fraternity dining club (in the best way). Food is delicious, inventive, and impeccably plated. The IPA sourdough was one of my favorite parts. I will definitely be coming back, and would also recommend people stay at this hotel if visiting NYC, its stunning.
The restaurant is beautiful. BUT...the service is too perfect i.e. uptight for us, the food was impeccable but for me had no innovation, a twist, something that will make it interesting. It wasnt boring but nothing to come back to. The deserts did not match foods level, maybe because of restaurant week.
Attended a casual business meal and the food was absolutely stunning- sublime scallops with a light caramelisation and a melt in the mouth texture on a bed of lentils, followed by steak and real chips (not those skinny rubbish) and a dessert made from peas. this did give a peculiar savoury/sweet taste but it was lovely
Awesome ambience and food! Incredible from the cocktails at the bar to the appetizers and main courses. We had the steak tartare as appetizer and the lamb and the pork chops as main courses. Also, we were very well welcomed with a great service from the hostess to the waiters!
Such a great space with a glam rock vibe. The photographs on display are stunning, I came for an early brunch and was able to wander around to look at them since it wasnt too crowded -- our server noticed I was interested and brought me a booklet with the names of all the photographers! Hubby got the steak and loved it, I ordered the fish but they came back and said it was no longer available but the menu hadnt been updated, which seemed a little careless for this type of outfit. Ended up going with the omelet, which was a little too buttery for my taste. For dessert we got the milk chocolate cremuex, which was divine. It was a pleasant experience overall, Ill likely bring out-of-town visitors here!
The food and service were excellent. Split the 40 Day Dry Aged Prime Côte de Boeuf, which was perfect for the three of us. Perfectly executed medium-rare steak, and yet the cold green beans were surprisingly our favorite part of the meal as each of us went back for more!
Honestly very disappointed with this place, I was visiting with a couple of friends, all from different states and the service since the beginning was very unpleasant. I dont believe there is a dress code or age requirement to have dinner here, but the host placed us in one of the first rooms which was empty isolated from other customers. The waiter was very rude never really gave us any attention and was very pushy for us to start drinking wine or liquor, but we had to leave back to our states later on, so we stick with water and a strawberry drink with no alcohol. Moreover, since there was no consumption of liquor and after 2-3 times he asked us to drink, he left and came back one time to get our order. In a very rude way told us there was no way to add or remove any Ingredients (as if there are no food allergies) but we finally decided for stake, duck and scallops. The food was great but the service was very bad. Our waiter never came back after he took our order and the person in charge with a grey suit every time he picked up a glass of wine from a customer that was leaving he helped himself by finishing their glass.Honestly Ive been to other restaurants with same and/or higher reputation and rating and never felt like they were treating me as a foreign or as if I didnt have the money to pay the food even when We were dressed casual as well as other people inside the restaurant. As a business owner I would never treat any customer like this and I hope you resolve this and talk to your team to make a good experience all the way in your location.

One of the best dinners I have had! My party of two had a 9:30pm reservation on a Friday night. We were promptly seated, and our drink orders were taken. The staff who took our food order explained the menu thoroughly and gave us a few suggestions. She was also very attentive as she checked on us throughout the night. We were brought the complementary bread, which was to die for. I believe the bread was made with an IPA. The bread was hot, fluffy, and crisp! My party of two had two orders of the bread! We started off with two appetizers: split pea risotto and the tuna. Im not usually a fan of risotto, but this one was so flavorful and not too heavy. The tuna was also fresh and the shiso and sauce on top complemented the dish well. For the mains, we got the halibut and the burger. The halibut was recommended by the waitstaff and didnt fail to disappoint. The burger was melt in your mouth juicy, and also came with large block fries which were delicious. Everything was well seasoned and so flavorful! We shared the pistachio soufflé for dessert. We were so stuffed and satisfied. Im a little disappointed that they ran out of their complementary chocolates, but we were one of the last tables to close out at 11pm. I will definitely be back!
Went to this restaurant the other night and the food was not good ordered steak medium well it came raw like right off the cow raw also kumamoto oysters were dried up . Very crowded and to small moved tables because the table we were given the help was basically hovering over us. Asked to switch tables and was moved to a new table were as the waitress was very unpleasant and looked like she would have liked to be somewhere else . WILL NOT GO BACK EVEN Though THE MAnager said he would make sure all would be good next time.
We know the chef from his London base. Restaurant setting is great. Yet no light and omnipresent music. With locally adapted food. Extra salt clearly not needed. A bit disappointing for an extremely under rated and talented London chef. Please try the Pollen social as soon as you can and the above point will be much clearer.
Michelin star? Really? The “signature scent“ from the hotel permeated the restaurant space burning my eyes and totally distracting from the taste of the food and wine... isn’t that in what not to do in restaurant rules 101? Yeck!Staff inattentive and they literally whisked my plate away while I was finishing the last bite of my first course and then proceeded to wipe the table as I swallowed and yet the next course was 15 minutes awayA lot of staff running out of kitchen with plates, running back in, where are we going?I hated this place! My head hurts from the perfumeI am in the hospitality biz and get it ( busy, an off night etc) but this was a waste of time and money
Great bistro restaurant. Service was amazing (my water was never dropped below a quarter glass). The foie gois with chicken liver appetizer was delicious. I would give five stars if it werent for the steak being oversalted. It was cooked perfectly, however, the overdose of salt was not necessary.
Hm... I think we just got a bit unlucky with the service, so I wouldnt necessarily say the service is bad at Clocktower. But it was a buzz killer, unfortunately. Our server was kind of not into it. When we started asking him questions about the menu he answered a few and then excused himself and left us hanging with more things to ask. He did a few other weird things that you wouldnt expect from a professional server in a place like that.I had a couple of cocktails before the meal, so I needed some food in my stomach. Their bread was supposedly really good, so I kept waiting and waiting for that bread. Eventually, I had to ask for it, and it arrived after the main dish had been served. Kind of pointless at that point...Steak tartar and 32oz steak were really good. Lots of food for 2 people.I had Los Pollos Hermanos (meh... nothing special but the name) and Cold Fashioned (much better!)Overall, the place, food and drinks were very good. But the stupid service messed up the experience
Its places like this that makes me happy to be a New Yorker. Really great setting (used to be a boardroom, waiting room, and library), with friendly, attentive staff, and very thoughtfully prepared food at non ludicrous prices. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and was very happily surprised with the bill. Unpretentious yet tastefully done, a standout addition to the city.
I came here for the Restaurant Week menu. Overall, the dishes were good, but not spectacular. The duck sausage cassoulet was served at an awkwardly tepid temperature. The cod was wonderfully seared and perfectly flaky-yet-held-together. However, it was a bit bland, even with the sauce. The broccoli rabe served on the side might have been the best part of the dish. The earl grey panna cotta was appetizingly creamy, but the crumble it came with felt lazily added for texture and not out of consideration for the composition of the dish, and all the citrus elements that seemed intended to bring the dish together and provide a contrasting flavor instead overwhelmed the gentle panna cotta. The most consistently good part of having lunch here was the service.
Went there for breakfast as stated in the hotel. Grumpy hostess met us, the restaurant interior looked tired and dirty. Food was very very average, prices r high. Jason Atherton, where r you? The standards r low and disappointing... We r ur fans and love ur restaurants in London but this place is a let down...
Firstly, the service is impeccable. Friendly but perfectly attentive. The ambiance of the space is one of the most unique in New York, and thats saying something. We had the filet and the prime strip, and both were expertly prepared and generously portioned. If I could give it six stars, I would.
After having a lovely ($400) dinner, then waiting five minutes for an elevator that never arrived, my husband and I decided to walk down the poorly lighted circular marble stairway to the ground floor. I didnt see the last step and fell flat on my face. In pain and trying to pull myself together from the shock of falling, waitresses repeatedly stepped over me on their way in and out of the kitchen never offering to help or asking other employees (i.e. the manager or doorman) to assist us or inquire if I needed medical attention. Watch out for that last step, its a doozy. And if theyve already charged your credit card for the meal, dont expect any further interaction.

2022-01-02The Clocktower was a great experience, and the food did not disappoint. We tried the scotch egg, which was pretty interesting and tasty. The fish and chips were also really good and the cocktails were solid. I would definitely go back and recommend a visit to anyone. I plan on trying the dry aged burger/steak next!

2022-06-17My first time here, this an excellent spot for upscale British classics. The beef Wellington is excellent but the shepherd’s pie stole the show - so flavorful and just a wonderful take on what can be a somewhat mundane dish. They also have a sticky pudding which is also really good as well as a baked Alaska which I didn’t have but was popular as they flambé it table-side.

2022-03-18Had a business dinner here. We ate light. We ordered 3 starters: scallops, mac & cheese and dozen oysters.Everything was served nicely with a strong presentation. The scallops were seared just right and the mac/cheese was in a light cream cheese which did not overwhelm the palette.

2022-02-10Our dining experience was impeccable from start to finish. The ambiance: inviting, intimate, warm & elegant. The service: high-touch, professional, well timed & welcoming. The cocktails: deliciously divine (we had the Dill or No Dill and the Honeysuckle). The food: mouthwatering, flavorful and delicious! We had the scotch eggs (a MUST try, if you haven’t had this is the spot to try it!), crab cocktail with grapefruit, steak tartare (amazing and you can definitely split it with the portion, great quality meat too), Berkshire pork chop (cooked to perfection AND that glaze is an unexpected delight !!) and the beef Wellington was top notch - flaky and not soggy outer crust, delicious filet mignon… amazing! And by the way the homemade sourdough bread is also next level!! Such a special experience. Thank you to the amazing staff for making our anniversary so memorable. We finished with the Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding — it is my favorite dessert on this planet. Incredible all around.

2022-05-15I had low expectations here, even for a Michelin star restaurant, but this place vaulted over them. Will definitely make it a mainstay of my future NYC visits. The beef Wellington was amazing, with a pastry covering so light and flakey that it could have been served standalone. The Tandoori chicken was similarly excellent, with some of the most tender chicken I’ve ever had, with excellent spicing and accompaniment. But our favorite was the toffee pudding, which may go down as one of my favorite all-time desserts.Add that they carried one of our most sought after Vouvray wines… just perfect.

2022-05-01I’ve been looking forward to the beef Wellington, but after waiting almost an hour, it was really mediocre. The steak itself was good, but the horseradish mash was dry and tasted like nothing. The waiter said that the kitchen messed up and they had to redo it but didn’t comp us anything for waiting so long. Fish and chips were okay, nothing really special except for the mushy pees, but does it really go with fried fish? No. The fish was fried alright but Dame does it better. Steak tartare, scotch eggs were not bad, but they did not stand out. Mac and cheese was good but a bit too rich. Drink menu wasn’t very inspiring if you want I have cocktails. Michelin star aside, it was just an okay meal.

2022-03-04Came here for an anniversary dinner, and everyone was nice and professional! We got the beef wellington and the fish & chips; the former was incredibly tasty, some of the best filet i’ve had. The fish & chips had great flavor and the crust was perfection. Big shoutout to the mashed potatoes, delicious! Ended the meal with the sticky toffee pudding and the earl gray torte. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the torte, but the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best desserts i’ve had in a while. Great experience!!

2021-10-23English pub-style place. Had the rissoto, lamb shepards pie, and rabbit pie. Food was only so-so. Service was poor. Maybe because it was a Friday night and busy but I felt ignored. Price was okay for New York. Very impressive wine list at very impressive prices.

2022-04-03The venue is beautiful, nice decor and the pictures on the wall give us a nostalgia feeling. Service was friendly, a little confused but fine.I was expecting a little more on the food, being Michelin star. We ordered scallops, beef tartare, shepherds pie, burguer and beef wellington. For me, beef wellington is a staple of British cuisine. It was ok, the best of the dish were the carrots (!), the beef wellington itself and whipped potato arrived lukewarm to cold and little under seasoned.

2022-05-22The food was fantastic. Especially the oysters and beef Wellington but I thought the other steak option was actually tastier than the Wellington. However the service was definitely not up to par with other establishments of this caliber. We were one of the later tables on a Saturday night and other than ordering we weren’t really checked on at all. The staff seemed overwhelmed even though it wasn’t super busy or crowded. Hats off for the food. If even recommend just going for drinks at the bar. Beautiful spot.
