Believe it or not these horrible comments youre reading about the consulate are all true. Just dont go there, try going to D.C and if you dont have any other options just dont pay express for anything because you will not get it on the time they say you will nor will you get a refund. Literally worst service ever if i could give them zero star i would its a shame. They seriously need new members on their team.
I paid $20 for the mail service, to receive my passport renewal at home, between 2 and 4 weeks, but 6 weeks later, nothing. I left work to come get it, i spent over 1 hour to receive it. I canceled 2 appointments because of that. Please, be more organized. Worst service
I just wish I can rate this nonsense lower than a 1 star, STRAIGHT ZEROS ALL ACROSS. First of all, the staff is VERY rude, refuse to help people. If you ask any question, they really feel annoy. They are VERY unorganized. Good luck trying to get these people over the phone. Its been about 5 months to get a passport, still NOTHING. Very POOR management. Its just so painful to see just something so simple to see Haitians are struggling with. This place is really bad news! My advise is, if youre trying to get your passport done with no headache, you better go to Haiti before your passport expire and get it done there, I am sure you will get it done much faster there. I know people who get theirs in about 2-3 weeks max. Please, do yourself a favor and close this place down. In conclusion, this place is a complete TRASH!
I applied for a haitian passport which would have taken only 3 months for me to revieve. its now been 7 months and still no passport. Mr. chery has told me some many stories from him being sick, being on vacation, to the broken equitment. please save yourself the time and go to washington D.C where you can obtain your passport the same day.
Unprofessional!!! Unorganized! Paid $195 to expedite my passport. It finally came after a few months. On top of that they misspelled my name. When you call the customer service line they give you the wrong information. It’s embarrassing how unprofessional these people are.
I have been trying to reach them for 15 days! I think there is a bit of malfeasance in the Haitian lack of professionalism in the public services The lack of respect is such, one could easily say they do it on purpose to screw you. I wished i could find a rude person to speak with, in the meantime, I have been waiting for a phone call for 2 weeks .
Do not bother calling. I tried calling them for two months and no one ever picks up. I ended up emailing them and someone got back to me. They are open Mon, Tues, CLOSED WEDNESDAY, Thursday, and Friday. The person told me to come in between the hours of 9:00am-1:45pm so make sure you get there at a decent time. Passport renewal fee is $165 (money order and it’s $140 for kids), bring in 2 photos and marriage certificate if married. They are not doing any types of express passports.
2/17/21- 8/6/21: how long it took for me to successfully file for and receive my sons passport.5 years ago we had no problem renewing our sons passport at the haitian consulate- it was actually a much easier experience than when we got the passport in port au prince.however, when i went there today (2/17) to get it renewed, there was a sign on the door of the office building, written in blue magic marker, that said the consulate was closed until february 22nd. no explanation as to why. im really peeved because i took an unpaid day off from work and traveled in from brooklyn- it cost me a lot of time and money for nothing.HOLY CRP, I AM SO ANGRY- we went back today (friday, 3/12), only to find the embassy REVISED ITS HOURS TWO DAYS AGO and IS NOW CLOSED ON FRIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! i checked online on monday to make sure that i was correct in thinking they were open on fridays. i checked again today, AFTER WE TREKKED IN FROM BROOKLYN, only to find that they updated their hours of operation online TWO DAYS AGO.WHAT A JOKE!!!okay, we FINALLY got there when they were open (3/22).this is what i learned:1) they only take money orders. the website says they take credit cards. they do not.2) as of this writing, it takes a minimum of FOUR MONTHS for you to receive your new passport. FOUR MONTHS!!!3) they’re currently not expediting passports, so you’re gonna be stuck waiting at least 4 months.UPDATE, 8/4: the passport, which i was finally able to file for on 3/21, has still not showed up and we have travel plans for later this month.i showed up at the building yesterday morning at 8:45am and they let me in a few minutes early. i waited from 9am to 9:45am and then was told that my sons passport was not in ny and was probably at the embassy in dc. i was asked to wait for someone to arrive who would be able to track down exactly where my passport was. that person arrived at the office at 110am and at 10:15 she called my name and told me my sons passport would be sent from the embassy on friday and then sent to my house the following week via fedex- i should expect it by tuesday. then i got a call this afternoon from a very pleasant woman, who told me the passport arrived at the consulate and theyd be sending out via fedex tomorrow. she reconfirmed my address and promised it would go out tomorrow.FINAL UPDATE, friday, 8/6: the passport was delivered today via fedex.
OMG! I went to Haitian Consulate recently (Month of April 2021). I am born in America (but I am of Haitian Descent) and this was my 3rd time going there over the years. I went there with a family member who had been there at least 7 times in the past. She always complained about the service (wait time, unwillingness to help, unprofessionalism, etc.) and I agreed with her as I noticed that as well. Having no choice because we had to go there for a services, we had great apprehension of the outcome. When we arrived at the consulate we were shocked! There was someone who greeted us and correctly directed us to where we should wait before being seen by the appropriate Consulate representative who gladly helped us. Are documents were reviewed. We were then informed when would be notified. We were actually notified when to return. We received the service we came for at the Consulate. The Consul team is awesome! WOW! Haitian people living up to their potential like when they led the former slave colony to independence! I hope the NYC Consulate and other branches around the country and world take it to the next level and they have a DMV type set up with wait numbers/letters on a monitor. Keep up the good work. Proud of ya!
I dont usually write reviews prior to going to the consulate i was very apprehensive after reading so many negative reviews I would like to share my experience with you guys iam not sure if this is caused of the new staff but my experience was great I was in and out in 30 minute the staff was welcoming and the gentlemen that greets you upon arriving Mr. Beliard is god sent he is very attentive and helps with every question you might have truly the star of the whole place.
Hi guys I just went there , they are open don’t waste your time calling they will not answer just come and they will take care of you . What u need is 2 password pictures, your birth certificate and the money Oder is 165 , they no longer do express, please don’t do the express money Oder . After you gt it done the wait time until you gt your password is about 2 to 3months . The service is really fast however some of them are really rude you know typical Haitian customer services. Good luck ... Siw gen kesyon ou ka mandem
Just wanted to share my frustrating experience today at the haitian consulate. I drove 1 hour 30 mns to the city, paid for parking, pay for tolls all to find out that they are closed on Wednesdays while the their Website clearly said open. No updates, no way to leave a message and no one to answer phone calls. So sad to see that no one cares despite all the suggestions, complaints and requests. Yet, it is a great offense when we point out the weaknesses of the country and its institutions. our own consulate treat us with no respect. So deceitful!!!

No reviews at all, very unprofessional I called them literally 50 times no one answered the phone when they finally answer they quickly hangup. What is the point of working there if youre not gonna answer peoples calls, I need informations I need my questions answered. Worst place EVER!
I have been contacting this office for 2 months, no answer to emails, calls or call back!! this is embarrassing. No other consulates do this!! Get it together Haitians!! I am still missing a call back and answer. And!!! they are never in the office!! what a disappointment.
Worst office ever. That’s why dealing with Haitians is a problem because you guys never seem to do nothing right. I pay extra fees for my passport which I was receive between 5-10 days, now it’s been a whole month. I try calling, you guys never pick up the phone. This office need a new staffing this is wasting people time and stealing people money is pure corruption
It is better as the staff was respectful and tried her best to help however it is unprofessional as I paid a money order of 12 dollars for pictures and they were the ones that took the picture. They left me keep my glasses knowing fully that the pictures should be without glasses. I had to go back and pay for new pictures if I wanted my passport to be renewed. Nobody said sorry for the mistake and instead, it felt that I was the one that made the mistake. Due to all that only 2 stars were given
I wish I didnt have to give these people a single star. They are the most unprofessional people I have ever met. I went to on July 19th to get my passport made. My mother paid for me to receive it in 5 days, which if Im not mistaken over $200. I didnt receive it until today, August 14th, thats almost a month later. Therefore, I will be making it known that these people are running a terrible service. I am beyond upset, I was supposed to be traveling but had to cancel my plans since I didnt even have a passport. Im fed up and I want the extra money my mom paid sent back to her.
I cannot believe I paid for a passport to be delivered to my house on time and I had to call them to ask them about the status of the delivery. Clearly they did not mail it out to me on time, now I have to wait for couple more days before I can get it. I least I was able to get my tracking number from them. And I pray God that I never step in this building, if I have to go do DC then I will.
I was trying to get it a zero star but it wont go through. This is a terrible place they never pick up the phone, I was calling to know if I should go get my passport that I was supposed to get on February or if they could mail it to me . Im sick of people working at this place. The way that the immigration in haiti does sh..t over here are the same mfs working no difference, when you guys respect your own people you will get some respect back.
The Haitian Embassy in New York City in my opinion is the worst. Since I am Haitian I never tried to access any other country’a website or attempted to call their customer services so I can’t judge in their regards but the Haitian Embassy in NYC which is where I can renew my mother’s passport which is unfortunate ,is unbelievable. Is this really an Embassy? Or it’s just carrying the name? I’ve been calling this place for about 3 months I can’t ever get in contact with anyone I know for sure it is not closed. Who work there? I am wondering....! Every businesses have a coronavirus planed of operation except the Haitian Embassy I don’t know how this Is even possible I guess these employees think the Embassy In Haiti where they don’t have to work just come and get a pay check every week and go home. This is sad ya’ll,when will ya make Haitians living abroad feel proud to say, “YES I AM HAITIA?”
I dont think Haitians are ready for business, because the employees are extremely rude, and I thinking about to report their services to the state, would be one of the best options. I am just tired dealing with these unprofessional Haitians, their customer services are extremely poor. They dont have a price that is set for the service that is provided. Once the money is involved there are no more games, it got to be serious. I wanted to travel to Washinton DC to renew my passport, but the distance is too far, so I am deciding, what I should do? But if the service is not done correctly, I will definitely report it to the state of New York. Thank you
The prime minister of Canada (French: premier ministre du Canada) [note 1] is the first minister of the Crown. The prime minister acts as the head of government for Canada, chairs and selects the membership of the Cabinet, and advises the Crown on the exercise of executive power and much of the royal prerogative. As prime ministers hold office by virtue of their ability to command the confidence of the elected House of Commons, they typically sit as a Member of Parliament (MP) and lead the largest party or a coalition in the House of Commons. #ViseroJustin Trudeau is the 23rd and current prime minister of Canada. He took office on November 4, 2015, following the 2015 federal election where his Liberal Party won a majority of seats and was invited to form the 29th Canadian Ministry. Trudeau was subsequently re-elected following the 2019 election with a minority of seats. Not outlined in any constitutional document, the office exists only per long-established convention (originating in Canadas former colonial power, the United Kingdom) that stipulates the monarchs representative, the governor general, must select as prime minister the person most likely to command the confidence of the elected House of Commons; this individual is typically the leader of the political party that holds the largest number of seats in that chamber.[note 2][7][8] Canadian prime ministers are appointed to the Privy Council and styled as the Right Honourable (French: Le très honorable),[note 3] a privilege maintained for life. #ViseroThe prime minister is supported by the Prime Ministers Office and heads the Privy Council Office.[9] The prime minister also effectively appoints individuals to the Senate of Canada and to the Supreme Court of Canada and other federal courts, along with choosing the leaders and boards, as required under law, of various Crown corporations. Under the Constitution Act, 1867, government power is vested in the monarch (who is the head of state), but in practice the role of the monarch—or their representative, the governor general (or the administrator)—is largely ceremonial and only exercised on the advice of a Cabinet minister.[10] The prime minister also provides advice to the monarch of Canada for the selection of the governor general.#VISERO +74 J.esus I.ndecente V.ago A.gnóstica R.ebelde O.fensivo (EE.UU., 2021)
I wish there was a zero star. i am Haitian but this need to be change. every time i go there customers are always mad at the staff. the staff dont do their. And again, how the hell do you three month for your Haitian passport to be renewed. they dont have an urgency option. They even proud to say that their job is secured, they can do whatever they. I understand that you re working for the Haitian government but you should know you re serving the Haitian community in the U.S. I hope the president or the person who is in charge of this consulate in new york can take the time to read reviews from customer. This not acceptable in 2018. you should not need tree months to get your passport renewed. The President has been saying he is making everything easier for us, but i feel like things are getting worst.
These people are so unprofessional. This is my third time coming in that non sense office building to get my passport renewed. First time I got there at 12:40pm, they were already closed. Second and third time they ddint open at all and according to their stupid website the office is open till 1pm while there is no one at the so call office. And the frustrating part they are not picking up their phone.
My score is mostly based on the customer service I experienced. I am a US-born citizen to Haitian parents, and I was asked to take a friend to the consulate to file for a passport renewal. I checked the website to see what is required. Next, I made a list of the required documentation, per the website instructions. Finally, I called to try and set up an appointment, if possible. I called 3 times throughout the day on Saturday, no one answered the phone, and the voicemail box was full.I called during the week and finally got in contact with someone. I let him know, in creole, I was looking to get a passport renewed. The employee stated briefly what would be needed to renew the passport, and he shares that you have to pay using money order. I questioned the accuracy in his statement, because the website says credit cards are accepted. He said “money orders only thank you goodbye” and he hangs up. 😐. We get two separate money orders, one for the renewal and one for shipping fees because we do not plan on coming back to NYC to pick up a passport. The website states “There is an additional shipping fee (US $15 to $20) to have your passport mailed. The exact shipping cost will depend on the delivery location”. Apparently this is not the case.I smile at everyone when I arrive and speak in creole. I am received well until I meet the woman that will be filing the paperwork. She walks over to the copier directly in front of the waiting area and says, “Why are you here?” I say, “Good morning (insert big smile) we are here for a passport renewal”. My kindness failed. She says, “Sit in the front, get your documents in place and dont come into my office until you have everything ready for me.” I cant say Im surprised, just disappointed. The woman never said please or thank you, but she just barks orders. Finally, I asked if we could get the passport mailed. The woman does not look up from her document to respond. She just says, “We dont do that”. I say “But the website says it can be mailed for $15 to $20 dollars based on where you live. I have the money order ready”. She still doesnt look at me and says, “The website is wrong”. I said thank you and we leave the offices. I left there questioning what happened to that woman so early in the morning for her to already be in a bad mood! The actually application process is very quick, but I have listed a few ways the consulate can do to improve the process overall.1.Have customer service training with employees. The rude behavior is unacceptable.2.Update the website and ensure accuracy throughout. The website states some things that are clearly false. Examples of the inaccuracies include the possibility of getting your passport shipped, the pricing differences between a child and adult passport renewal, the operating ours and the form of payment accepted. If there are differences between consular sites, it should state those differences.3.Ensure telephone services and voicemail boxes are available during working hours.4.Provide electronic documents that can be filled out prior to the visit. This can save time upon arrival.I hope the Haitian consulate can consider these changes. We can do better!
Please, update us on what’s going on and/or what ya’ll plan on doing. People have have going there for days and there’s no one there when it says Open on google. I keep driving my mother there in the traffic only to find out there’s no one. The security said it would be open after the Fourth of July and still Nobody there. Please, don’t make it seem like it’s open when it’s not.
If I could give 0 star it would be perfect. They never wanna take the time to give you any valid info, Rush you over the phone, theyre rude. They are so not qualified for business whatsoever. But thank goodness for naturalization wont have to deal with their arrogance anymore.
Its sad i cant select negative stars. Horrible state of affairs. Zero professionalism. Zero acknowledgments of their business hours. No one knows how to run a business nor how to answer phones nor set up a mailbox nessage. You can barely understand what is being said. 😔
They tell you one thing over the phone then when you get there they dont want to help you and tell you you have it all wrong. We came from far, over 3 hour drive, paid for parking garage since theres no parking around the consulate and was literally in there for less then 5 mins after my mom called them on 3 occasions to make sure she was bringing the right paperwork for a mandate. Were walking up to her desk with the intention to sit and talk and already she had an attitude, oh just tell me what you want standing, dont sit. Its a shame because were trying to settle back to our country which they want and they dont even want to do their jobs and try to work with haitian diaspora. Terrible the Haitian govt should really work on fixing that place, if you go it might be a waste of your time and they obviously dont care.
I cant believe this, you guys should close this office once and for all, worst customer service, schedule change every week without posting any update on the website, how do you guys feel Making people coming back and forth down here, ayiti Nou menm Jan epi isi Nou pimal.
Im Haitian and Im proud, I must say, deal with Haitian people at the Embassy in New York is like going to the casino where you have a better chance lose. Another thing, I never see any Foreign Embassy when you call for Information and the Voice system only give you one option for language, this is suck. Im glad im a US citizen and i dont have to deal with all these none sense any more.
I have made 3 attempts to renew my passport on a Saturday and the office was closed way before the advertised schedule. The recording states that the Saturday schedule is 9:30am- 1pm but I got to you location today at 12:15 and was turned away by security saying the office closed at 12pm. That is poor customer service.
It is so sad, I think most the employees have a machine that takes them back home to Haiti every night and return there in the morning is the only explanation for such a sad state of affairs in the NY Region Haitian Consulate. When the Honorable Consulate General, Felix Augustin was running the show it was quite a different story. I guess after 50 years in the United States and a U.S Army, Vietnam Era Veteran, Naturalization is next without a doubt. Im never going back anyway, I have a wife from the Philippines and my wifes home is my home. Lets go get American Citizenship.
Everyone who is working at the front desk need to be transferred to kwabosal (kochon se nan pak sa rete . pa sou moun) Because the nastiness and the nonprofessional behavior have no place in a consulate general office. I forgot the names but there is a skinny black lady and a thick light skin lady there at the front desk Im asking God for mercy on their souls.
I have called three times for different reasons. The first was for passport renewal for my husband. Staff was very short on professionalism, told me that they could not stay too long on the phone to give me a full answer - told me to come down to the city - for something that would have taken 1/2 second to explain to me. The second time was because of some fake birth certificate done in 2014 claiming that I was someones birth mother when I left the county in 1997 and never went back, besides the fact that i cant have children. The third time, today, where the automated voice with a forced French accent from someone that I know for certain, is nowhere near French, kept repeating over and over, very contradicting messages and no one, not one person came on the line. Mezami, suspan fe makak. Le yon moun rele, pou mounsa kapab bay infomasion lot moun nan bezwen. Sispan fe makak.
Arrived early as a visitor with a party of six, all native-born Haitians. My first impressions... Noticed the staff seemed aloof, stand-offish, distant. Partial to Kreyol with a smattering of French. Not a single smile nor warm engaging manner encountered all morning. Were they fearfully awaiting the arrival of a Papa Doc and trusty tonton? Or an Emmanuel Constant and a remnant of FRAPF? Noticeably absent from walls otherwise all bearing a multiplicity of hooks: any official portrait or photo of Jovenel Moise, or lesser government official. No U.S. flag deferentially complementing the Haitian flag on display. One final irregularity: an amateurish though valiant attempt at restoring an otherwise lovely hand-written parchment copy of the countrys declaration of Independence from France. Big Plus: Entire office is surgical-suite clean. Regrettable Minus: the attending staff could learn a thing or two in hospitality from any McDonalds. Overall: If first impressions count, the consulate is long overdue for a makeover.
I dont know where to start ,worst service over the phone ever ,these people live in United States still havent learned how to speak over the phone nicely with someone .they always rushing the calls ,when you go there ,they all sitting around joking around I wonder why they dont pick up no phone calls .femen business consulat a tounen Haiti
The staff was very rude acted like sitting behind a desk made them superior,The information they have on the recording is not accurate, they no longer do expedite passport, wait time is 90 days, ohh they never answer the phone, very disappointed, they need a whole new staff, manager, supervisor not doing job
If we dont speak Creole, there are people who dont understand their loved ones since Haitians cant find whites to help them. take $ 225 dollars from you and they will tell you in 6 weeks you will get it in 6 weeks they will give you 10 months without a word yes they c no tt where they are
This consulate sets the deadline for renewing a passport in extreme urgency at 2 weeks minimum and 4 weeks maximum. They have fun collecting $ 225 including 205 for renewal and 20 for postage. In fact I am almost 8 weeks old and my passport has not yet been delivered. They are jokes who continue to tarnish the reputation of the country by their dishonesty.
I am extremely satisfied with the service. I greatly appreciated the service provided. These people took the grievances of their compatriots to heart. Especially for us who wanted to renew our passports which reach the peremptory date. Thank you my brothers and thank you again. I will remember this experience for a long time. I like You.

2022-05-27They basically stole my money. Paid for express shipping.7 months later the passport never came. I sent my sister to pick it up and she found it ! It was sitting right in their office. They said they were going to deliver it to her address but sent it to my old vacant saying someone signed for it.So 225 dollars and 8 months later still have no passport and no way to get it since someone that wasnt me sign for it 😕

2022-05-10The person in charge of running the consulate should be ashame, no sense of leadership, but scam. You guys don’t even try to satisfy your own community, what a character. I paid the urgent fees for my passport, and it s been 5 months. I can never get an answer. The consulate in NY said The embassy in DC has the passport and DC Ambassador said they don’t have it and cannot help me. Very helpless organization, yet they are collecting the money. You guys should do better and you can do better. Nou pa nèg sòt. Se nèg sòt ki opere konsa. You guys should aim for consumer satisfaction than just collecting people money and leave them disappointed.

2022-07-18This place will never change over 20 years. The service is still subpar. They gave you mix and confuse information. But be ready to lose a few hours if you need something done. You must and always bring all your documents rather have it they dont ask or need it than not to have it. Good luck and be patient.

2022-01-10DO NOT GO THERE. This place is horrible, unprofessional, liars, scammers. I went to them and I paid the “Express fee money” to get my passport in two weeks. It’s been 6 months I still didn’t get it. Every time I called they kept lying to me, saying things like they will ship it tomorrow. I had to cancel my flight and couldn’t visit my family. They still have my money, and I’m still left with no passport. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. They are scamming people.

2022-01-27Don’t go there ! Especially if you have an urgent need for a passport. Employees are extremely unprofessional, make promises they absolutely cannot keep nor care to keep and Have ZERO sense of urgency. I paid EXPRESS service to renew my passport . After a month in process, I would call to check in on status of passport from time to time . They were always very nonchalant and acted clueless about any update which was frustrating. Going to this place is truly a waste of time, money and energy.

2022-03-16This place is the reason why I think about giving up my haitian citizenship. Just horrible but yet the government is taking a percentage of the money we sent to our families in Haiti via transfers but won’t event give us a decent consulate.

2021-07-22I had the worst experience with them . They were very unorganized. The people in the office are very unprofessional. They are on the phone gossiping about church at work, loud church service playing on their phone at work. My visit there was very disappointing.I applied for an urgent passport ( paid extra ) 4 months before my departure day. I never receive it . I called them but when I finally found someone , they didnt seem know what was going on. The lack of costumer service is mind-blowing. They never called me back when THEY SAID they would. I never got any useful information. I had to cancel my trip because of their incompetence. It is so disheartening that something THIS basic is THIS hard for an official office.

2021-08-05Read update below!!Wow. Where do I start?? Zero stars should really be an option. Applied for a passport months ago with expedited shipping and still no passport in hand with my trip due in two weeks. The lack of professionalism. Every time you call it’s a long wait time and everyone gives you a different story with no valid timeline of where my passport is in the process. Oh. The famous lines “We will call you back” Ah. Lies. They never do. So avoid this place if you can. Just an inconvenience.Update:Went in person and still no passport. Actually was told my application was never sent. Can’t you believe that? Of course. Go to Washington! Went and got my passport same day after explaining I’ve been waiting for months. This location said I couldn’t go to DC because they already started the process. Lies. Go to DC. Save yourself the head ache and stress.
