Okay Im updating my review (6.27.22) , I would say this store is like a hit or miss sometimes a staff will greet you sometimes theyll be friendly to you but they pick and choose who they want great , every month theres a new staff of new cashiers and stuff but some of the managers are okay they know how to help but what I dont understand is why these cashiers dont get retrained every month because they dont know what theyre doing and especially how to wrap up display cases I used to think the store is good but Im really trying to understand the logic of how people dont treat people with kindness or happiness like I said some of the stuff is good and some of the stuff is not , they have so much stuff but there nothing that I need but display cases even those they have raised tha prices on anything for a profit it right , Im gonna start taking my business else were , too many time I have bin kind and nice and tha staff have threaten me like Im nothing wen Im tha one with tha 50 talents and gifts and making history .
I love this store, didn’t expect to leave a review. Of all related “home” stores in the vicinity, their store was the most organized, with the best employees. My cashier— older gentleman with great eyewear was so helpful and friendly and really made the experience shopping awesome.
I love how The Container Store has products that you dont even realize you need, and in every aisle, you want just about everything...This store is also very well organized.The only negatives are that quite a few items seem over priced, the sales arent great, and there was no one on the floor to ask for help about anything. It could have just been the time of day, but there were hardly any customers either, so it felt a little strange going through a deserted store.The store itself deserves 4 stars, yet being that I circled the entire store twice looking for someone to ask a question about an item, and couldnt find someone, I had to minus a star.I would go back if I cant find that organizational item I need, but I most likely will find it elsewhere, and it will be less expensive.
I love this store. They have so many organizational solutions. You name it, they have it. The container store has helped me organize my spaces and customer service is great. I had to return an item and they took it no questions asked. If you’re looking for a high quality organizer, this is the place to go. Obsessed with this store. All your needs for organization under one roof. A bit pricey, yet the quality of product is well worth it. Bought several containers, shelving units, home accessories, etc... items that have lasted for years. Awesome rewards program. Amazingly friendly & heavily knowledgeable staff.

I came into this container store, because I was in the city running errands. The experience that I had in this specific store was so bad, I will never return to it ever again. Let’s start with my cashier Gary. This man rushed was rude, and practically argued with me that they didn’t have my items in stock even though I showed him a picture of the item on the floor. So I then asked him if shipping would be an option. He adds it to my shopping list. So o ask him why it’s so much more money for shipping he said “because that’s how it is” which was unheard of to me. When I explain this he says it doesn’t matter we can’t ship it anyway, because the box is too.By that I’m in tears I’m 8 months pregnant and too sensitive for his attitude. He tells me we can build you one if that’s what you want, but I tell him that would make the item way more expensive. My wife saw my frustration so went and got the item herself. So I ask for the topper he tells me it’s backed up till late November, when the sales girl on the floor had already told me they had it in the back. By now I had reached then end. I gave up and said I don’t want anything in tears. As I was walking away the “manager” came to help. Alejandro I believe his name was had no better customer service skills. I ultimately made my purchase, but I would never return to this store or any container store, as fun as visiting the container store used to be. Any future purchases will be done online.
Helpful staff and every type of container your heart could desire. Not sure why a plastic box costs $20 though. Still, a place to indulge in organizational accessories of every variety.
The Container Store located in the heart of Chelseas main shopping area, in such company as BedBath,&Beyond, and Best Buy across the street.I find the store spacious but cramped, and the merchandise in my opinion is only adequate. Nothing special.However, they did carry a metal shelve that is industrial white in color, and if I have the time after I put it together, Ill spray paint the shelves to whatever color(s) I want.Ive seen better than what the Container Store is offering, and better design.
Jennifer was terrific designing our Elfa installations, patient and listened. The install is really professional and clean.More Elfa coming, we’re digging it.

Large store with wide selection of items. Has a nice sized Elfa design center but be sure to book an advance appointment online as its always busy. The interior organization of the store can be a bit confusing but staff at the entrance should be able to point you in the right direction.
This place is so wonderful. Its a large store and they are fully stocked with lots of items. I went recently to buy storage containers for my kitchen and kind of had an idea of what I wanted, but when you go to this store it blows you mind with how many options they have.I ended up getting something even better then what I thought I wanted! lolTheir customer service is amazing as well and returns are never an issue.

This is a mecca for the right-brain-oriented person. If you crave organization, this place has the very tools for it. Name the room; they have the boxes, bins, drawers, etc. for it. From the teeny[tiny colored plastic boxes to the large underbed plastic bins and more, youll need to bring a few friends to help you carry it all--or partake of the delivery service, and keep your hands clean. Theres also Click n Pickup. No energy expended except for a walk to the store where every salesperson is helpful and knowledgeable, and comes in all ages!
Don’t ever order an Elfa shelving unit online and expect it to be delivered undamaged. I am writing this review because the “second” replacement order of shelves that arrived are ALL DAMAGED, just like the first order. The shipping packaging or lack there of is a serious QA/QC issue.Frustrating none the less because the shelves are out of stock and now I had to have the project install delayed for my client AGAIN.Very disappointing Container Store and I won’t order online ever again. There are quality control issues with your distribution center if they think they can throw these heavy particle board shelves into an oversized box with zero packaging. Not once, but TWICE. Two shipments, two weeks delayed and still NO SHELVES.
This store is clean, organized, and efficiently run. The staff is helpful. The merchandise is useful for the most part, but like any big box store the layout is carefully designed to make you want things you dont need. Get what you need and get out before you start looking around at all the cool gadgets that youll just have to drop off at goodwill in few months.

Very clean and well stocked. Lots of great customer service staff on the floor to assist me. The cashier asked me if I wanted another bag to put my comforter storage bag that I just bought or was I going to put it in the bag in my hand? I asked him for a super large bag to store my hood hair dryer in and he gladly gave it to me. That is what I call excellent customer service!!!

This place is absolutely addicting - I’ve easily spent an entire month’s paycheck on organization solutions to problems I didn’t know I had. Seriously though, my apartment is so much more organized, the staff are super helpful, and they always have sales happening. With tiny apartments and limited closet space, Container Store keeps me sane.
What a delightful experience! I needed a replacement part for a wire shelf. Despite not sold at the store, a lady (apparently not from the sales team) went to retrieve the spare parts from the office. She made my day by eliminating the hassle I would have otherwise experienced ordering online and waiting for it. Thank you!
Slow service, especially by the cashier, they seem to like you waiting in line just to pay and you see lots of other staff doing something else. These staff should be able to do cashiering too especially when theres line of customers who are wasting their time waiting to pay. Not a good site to behold, so I opted to leave the stuff and buy them from online.
My biggest gripe w them is that they stated there was a 20% discount on the closets. The day I was set to pay I received an email saying 30%. You don’t get anywhere close to these discounts bc their quote is an estimate. (see fine print). Then when u get the $ from them per closet and they agree, somehow the total doesn’t add up. Even when they send it in writing the $ don’t add up. I would go elsewhere.
Less organized and less stocked than I thought it would be for a store dealing with organizing :) but overall I found what I needed. Shoe boxes are $2 each. Very practical. My closet feels better. Staff is friendly and dedicated.
Ive gotten so many organizational essentials from this store. Things can get pricey, and I recommend waiting for sales. But even so this place was a lifesaver when I first moved to a new apartment and needed a lot of things for my room. All of the stuff I got here has also lasted well and are good, sturdy quality.
I do love this store and I will be back for my tidying and organizing needs but it has its flaws.The people who work there are super friendly and helpful... But most of them are isolated behind registers so when you need to find an item you must first seek out the rare associate on the sales floor. Fine, but this whole store is about order and convenience so this is a little annoying.That being said, their perfect storage boxes are just essential and their kitchen department is fantastic! Gift wrap is amazing too... If youre into that.
A container for EVERYthing you never thought you needed a container for before going to the store, Staff is so nice and helpful, same at checkout. And if you must exchange or return something they are very nice about it, and even try to help you find something that may better suit you.
Really cool place to walk around in. Check out was smooth. Lot of older people working the registers. They are very helpful. Did not have them on the floor picking up heavy boxes. Really liked that as an older person myself.
I love browsing through out the store. As soon as i walk in I start redesigning my bedroom, my kitchen, cabinets and closets(in my head 😆). So many options to choose. I got pretty good sales today. Will come back for more soon :) the only drawback, waiting time to pay was long...

Ask a sale associate MONICA for help and she was rude. She was the cashier who rung me up and gave me attitude my whole transaction and then threw my receipt at me. If I didn’t need what I came in for I would have returned it. I guess because not your usually customer I should get treated disrespectful. I will gladly start to take the long drive to go to my usually store. Container store just lost a customer.
At the online order pick up counter, it is truly bizarre that 1) you are not allowed to also purchase more items, but instead have to go through the normal checkout line, and 2) they are unwilling to just look up your order from your number, name, email, etc. If you have a messy email inbox or a dead phone, it’s unclear how you would ever get your order.
Aside from some slight confusion about the layout of the store and finding the checkout area, it was really easy to find an over the door shoe organizer. It looks good and does the job well, so Im happy.

Oh my gosh, this is heaven for me😉. Im a super organjzed, type A person, so coming this store is perfect. I spent like 4 hours in here once when I first moved into my new apartment to get organizational supplies. I know Im a weird nerd, but Im so glad the container store exists. The employees are always so sweet and you can easily find anything in particular you are looking for.
The customer service here is amazing. The issue is that it’s NYC so if you go when it’s busy it may be difficult to find someone. I went at 7 on Friday night and it was empty. Someone helped me find exactly what I needed. She really listened and had to think about all of the options. And the guy at checkout was also super friendly and engaged. They make you feel very welcome here!! Which is great bc all of the options are overwhelming
I love to put things in boxes so this is the perfect place for me.They have every type of container-thing you can imagine. It’s for the home organization, especially storage space and closet optimization. Space is very expensive in Manhattan, where square footage means everything and getting every little bit out of your apartment can save you a lot of money and plus it’s fun too.
I cant imagine anyone possibly having anything negative to say about this store! I have shopped here many times and its always a good experience. Great organization, friendly staff, easy checkout. Close to the subway, but if youre too loaded down you can usually get a taxi right out front or they will gladly deliver.
This place is a dream for those who want to maintain an orderly, neat space. Having things in order really relieves stress!I dont like the way many of their products are designed, but they do have a selection of plastic products from Poppin in the basic colors (white, grey, black, and red) with a stunning minimalist aesthetic. Their clear acrylics are also really nice. During the early summer they stock a delightful array of travel-size items.Staff are generally chipper and helpful.Products can be very expensive.
If youre an organizer freak with the need to sort everything out, this place has everything for you. From classy to simple to straight up most adorable storage and organizing items, you might need a lot of time in here. Prices range from thats actually cheap to maybe when I dont care that Im spending lunch and dinner on a trash can.

The store is well organized, now if you need storage, you will be in heaven. They have roller trunks, shoe boxes, trash containers, gift boxes, cereal and snack bins, just to name a few. Go give a visit, you wont be dissatisfied...

Lots to look at good customer service
I generally look for 3 things in the places I frequent:Service - service is not the strong suit here. This place is so huge that its difficult to find someone. When you do find someone, they are not all that knowledgeable. This is no ones fault per say, there are tons of SKUs here and almost impossible to expect folks to know the specifics of all of the items in the store.Offering - if you have obsessive-compulsive disorder and need a box for everything that you own this is the place to come. That pencil needs a pencil holder they got you covered. Those shoes need a box to go into no problem they have that as well.Atmosphere - this store is super crowded. Good luck trying to find a customer service representative to help you.I hope you found this review helpful.
Youll want to buy more than you intended and have an urge to organize your entire life. Love/hate relationship with this store.... Love the selection and staff, hate it because I want to buy it all, and things are a bit pricy here. Containers and storage for everything! Also the best selection of holiday (and year-round) gift wrapping! Present and gift with style with their wrapping.
I usually dont care for shopping. On the contrary, I have FUN shopping here and always look forward to it. They have everything I could ever think of to hold/house/store/display or even contain things in your home. Contactless payments accepted at the register, and the nicest, friendliest staff you could hope for.
Love their containers and the store, but kind of like a designer bed bath beyond at times. Lego shelving units and Orla Kiely food containers. They are nice but just not sure if I need it, and many times have bought more than necessary. I am constantly in battle with their marketing efforts
Friendly staff but tiny aisles that make it very hard to shop while others are shopping. This is a good place to go to on off hours and off days. Saturday afternoon, you will feel like youre in the middle of a zoo.
An employee caught me trying to climb a shelf because there was no employee in site to help me reach something. That is until I climbed the shelf.. then right out of nowhere he comes. Haha. He was nice and cordial. However the 3 stars are for the price of this place. I ended up going next door to tj Maxx and buying exactly what I was looking for.
This location in Chelsea is well stocked, organized and usually not overly busy. I deducted a star because it was challenging to find someone to provide assistance.Otherwise the store is good.

This is the place to find any sort of container you need. Big store, full of choices. Cleaning supplies, hangers, shelves, kitchen appliances, closet accessories, jewelry boxes. In general containers from all sizes. The staff is friendly, professional and very helpful.I recommend this store.

Container Store has really interesting and unique things for sale. You can find just about any kind of shelving or storage you need for your home. I love just looking around.
Edit to now: last three times I was in this store i had a bad experience. Most recently I asked for a PENNY bag (8inchesx3 inches 2 inches...like s penny candy bag) to put my purchase in (sharp corners) the clerk was hesitant but did. it (it was the right size for the purchase). when I asked for an extra there was z whole big deal about it being a SECURITY RISK. on my way past info at the door, I very nicely asked again. AND THE same corporate comment.Whatever. i didnt take your 7 times too big bag for my small purchase.Commonsense seems to not be in the rules of this store.Three strikes.2017?It is a store of containers....sometimes too many choices! BUT I have always had really good service (friendly and helpful). Sometimes I just feel like things cost too much (to store my JUNK).BUT if you need a box or barrel or container or holder- thingy...they likely have something for you.NOTE: the check out line can look REALLLY LONGGG but in my experience moves really quickly.Oh and they have a program for ..getting discounts emailed to you every once in a while. Eh, why not.

If you are obsessed with organization then you would love this place. They have every box, hanger, tool, container and whatever you can think of to store your thing, literally.I love coming here because it makes me feel there is a hope, a hope I can make my shoebox NYC apartment very neat and organized. Of course, the dream is far away from reality. You need to pay a good price for your dream but it is worth trying.

Great for containers. Especially those kinds that are hard to find/describe online. Pricing is very uneven. Some things are appropriately priced, others seem very overpriced. Stuff for clothing, office, workshop. Quality is also uneven. Still, even with those caveats, very handy.
Have been coming here for years, and while I generally try to check discount stores nearby (Marshalls and TJ Maxx across the street) for random home goods, if I need a niche item ASAP, Ive never been let down here.The place can be a mob sometimes, but the people here are always super helpful. Prices range form okay to pretty good, especially if you catch them during a sale, but the key here is that they have all those weird items for organizing a drawer or closet or whatever that youre going to struggle to find elsewhere.

Great selection and friendly but shelves are not kept properly stocked with items sold out. Ordered a container and associate was helpful and paid for items that were in stock but it took about a month and a half to receive something that was suppose to be in stock.
If you dont have big closet, and you have a small closet (like most people in NYC), then The Container Store will help you achieve clothing storage bliss with its many products like the ELFA closets line.Youll need to work with the in-store staff to guide you through the process. They are very helpful.
They have elfa and anything to keep your home tidy. So much that I think you could make your home look messy by having too much things to make it look tidy. Find the balance. Find happiness.
All the different size and types of storage you could imagine. Its the best place for a unusual storage box, shelf, or cabinet. Minus one star for slightly higher prices than competition, but some things can only be found here and thats what you pay for.

Medium sized store all on one floor with bins for everything, baking, cooking housewares,shelves,bookcases, ,wrapping paper,kitchen storage jars,rolling carts,large selection of nice garbage bins,office supplies,accessories, lucite display,shoe boxes, and tons of great travel items.There is a public bathroom near the boxes and wrapping area. They have the most useful huge coated reusable bags with two handles one short and one long enough to go over your shoulder!
Get a good buzz going and wander the aisles. Good place to look for dates if you are into high-strung chicks.

They control traffic going in...but inside the aisles can get congested. Checkout line doesnt work with the 6 ft distance at the turns.
Friendly staff, and tons of product. Only complaint is this store is a people magnet on the weekends, almost feels like there are too many people in the store at one time.
I think a manila folder is like 30 dollars (just kidding). Anyway, there is some super discounted stuff in a back corner. From the street facing in, back, far left. Stuff thats 20 goes for 5. Otherwise, satisfy your organizing urges in all kinds of ways. Great location too as theres a Bed Bath Beyond across the street, a Lowes and Staples nearby, and a Home Depot on 23rd Street. One stop area for fixing up your place.

One of the best quality container stores in NYC! They sell containers, boxes, packaging/wrapping supplies for making any space (whether its at home or the office) look more organized, personalized, or decorated :) Expect to pay a pretty penny though.

You can get free design services and purchase a closet for a DIY project or use their professional installation services. Be warned, once you organize one closet, youll easily get addicted and want to do every closet in your home!

When you live in NYC, you don’t have much space to play with. Therefore it is extremely important to be organized. The Container Store helps with that. They have boxes, shelves, racks, baskets, etc. of every kind to help you stay on track. Everything has a place according to The Container Store. They also have ergonomic office chairs and really nice wrapping paper. Much better than a Hallmark store. The brands of shelving they have is Elfa. For a small fee there is delivery if you live in Manhattan.
Great place to find all that extra things to organize our household . Staff is nice reach out to them they are happy to help. Just grab everything you need and get into a Uber ! Can be expensive at the end so be sure of what you need .
Oh yes. Go here to organize all your stuff in your tiny apartment. Makes you feel thrifty and tidy. Dont go overboard into OCD territory, however. Now you can invite friends over!
Very spacious and items are relatively easy to find, however this place completely lacks in customer service. No one is around to help you find things and if you ask, its as if you are bothering them. You should have an idea of what you want to buy before walking in.
This Container Store is THE BEST ONE with super-friendly and helpful staff; super-clean and nice bathrooms; and well-stocked. Tough to find legal parking but worth it.

Im so frustrated. Ive not been getting anyone on the phone for days. I called on Monday and after about an hour someone told me they would call me back to arrange the installation of my Elfa Unit. No one called back. I cant reach anyone on the phone either!!!
Well stocked and organized with a helpful staff. They feature many novel storage solutions, however their prices are a bit on the high side.
Great store. They have all the things you need to organize anything. You see things that you didnt know existed that you suddenly know you need. Storage solutions for everything, like closets, drawers, kitchen, office...you name it.
I like this Container Store bc its a single floor store with a simple layout. Its easy to get turned around in those 2 tier stores. I can just go in and get what I need.

Everything you need (and didnt even realise it) for putting some kind of structure into your life. I dont know how I manage to do this, but every time I go in I come out with twice as much stuff as I meant to buy... and the staff are great (you tell from their packing skills that they share their companys love of order).

Very disappointed. I ordered a closet system and was told it would be ready a in a couple days but the deadline passed and I cannot get anyone at the store in the phone. Endless hold or dropped calls. Finally a message saying the store was closed. 45 wasted minutes and still no closet system and I have workers coming in the morning and it is too late to cancel. 2 workers for a day and no closet system to assemble. That is terrible service costing me hundreds of dollars.CharleyManhattan

I like organization. I like containers.But I dislike the container store.It has a nice variety of products and the in-store staff was helpful, but their checkout process is quite poorly managed and took far longer than I felt it should have.

This is a great place for storage options for your home. Its a big store with many options, not far from the six train and easy to flag a cab from here if you buy something too bulky for the train.

As they tell, quite often they have PROBLEMS with NON USA CREDIT CARDS. instead of making an advertisement they passed my credit cards upto 15 times and every time there was an error. But I receive a message saying that the transacción was not made. They are not really cooperative with the resolution.

The line is too long, the products are of mixed quality but some seem pretty solid, its hard to carry a lot of containers out of the store.

It took 47 minutes with 4 calls to get to talk to a customer service rep. The first 3 calls were all hung up on after about 5-10 minutes. The last call was on hold for about 10-15 minutes before I finally got to talk to someone.

2022-06-19Ive been a customer of TCS since I was a high school senior, so Im a little biased. Of course, theyve always had what I needed so I cant deny them that fact.This past trip I was shopping for The Jet Bag. The hostess attempted to help me, but it was clear she didnt know the product. I was able to find a young man to assist me and he tried every avenue to find the item. Unfortunately, the counts were off. Ugh.Overall, I tend to find what I need and the folks do know their stuff.

Paulette was super helpful and accomodating and Walter was quick and eficient in his installation. Id highly recommend both their closet design sevices and installation team to anyone looking.

2022-05-05Closet systems were delivered late (hours after scheduled delivery). Installer took apart the existing closet and then realized they had sent the wrong closets entirely. He did his best to make it work but no one from the store would return my call or his. Left with no closets and bedroom and laundry look like construction sites. No one is answering the phone or returning my emails.

2018-08-17Its great to have a store like this, I just wish the prices were more reasonable. When I compare their products to comprable ones at other stores, I always wonder why the Container Store products are so expensive. That being said, I have picked up some nice things here every so often. I particularly like their plastic hangers - they come in all sorts of fun colors, are well-made and durable, and very reasonably priced. I also find the store good for laundry supplies. However for some items like plastic boxes and totes, I would wait for a sale. Theyre just too costly for what you actually get.

2018-10-08This place always seems to have just that one thing you needed for the house. That little shelf or container thats just the right size. Ive gotten 2 sets of elfa systems here and both work great. They also have a nice selection of travel things as well.
