I called this morning, asked if I can do a walk in. They were very nice to me one the phone. I was able to go in and get a small tattoo that I wanted. The whole experience was amazing! I was tattooed by Taylor, the owner! He was very awesome, he made me feel really welcomed! I love my tattoo so much and I’m so glad I decided to come here. I definitely found a place I will be coming back to for some more amazing ink!
This was my first time at the studio and I was thoroughly impressed. The space is light, clean and had an excellent artistic atmosphere.Sam is extremely friendly, fun and an amazing artist. She has excellent creative abilities, especially with coverups! She is excellent at helping you create a perfect tattoo especially if you’re unsure with what you fully want which she did for me. I recommend her to anyone I know!
The Crucible Art Collective is easily the nicest shop Ive ever been in--with a beautiful art gallery upon entry and a clean, spacious studio to the side, it was honestly hard for me not to keep my jaw dropped as I settled in for my tattoo appointment with Gabe.Calm, cool, and funny, it was a pleasure to have Gabe as my artist. He helped me feel comfortable with it being my first time at the studio and working with him. Hes got a great style and I know Ill be coming back for more of his work in the future.
The Crucible is quickly becoming a central piece of the art community in Buffalo, NY and I could not be happier to have worked with the owner, Taylor. I’ve admired the dual tattoo shop/gallery space since it’s construction. Taylor keeps the studio professional, yet comfortable for anyone to walk in. Everything is cleaned to high standards - pandemic or not. I am very grateful for this space as a networking opportunity for artists as well as a studio to get absolutely stunning tattoos. Taylor executed my first color piece and I could not be happier with the process or result. I can’t recommend The Crucible enough, whether you’re an artist looking to network or host a show, or looking to get some phenomenal work done.
The Crucible crew is so chill and I had a nice and quick appointment. Granted i got a smaller tattoo, but it turned out so great! So glad I chose the Crucible for my first tattoo. Nicole is so cool and nice and made sure I was comfortable and happy with the tattoo. Thank you so much Nicole!!! Definitely recommend this place!!
This was my first time at The Crucible and I had a great experience. Everyone is so chill and so nice. Gabe had done my first tattoo for me when I turned 18 and today he did my moms, sisters, and I tattoos and he did such an amazing job like always. My mom, sister, and I have been thinking of our matching birth flowers tattoo for years now, Nicole brought it to life for us! We couldn’t be happier with her design and work! This being my first tattoo I wasn’t sure what to expect and she made the process great for me and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way! I’ll definitely be back for sure!

I got tattooed by Nicole this weekend, and it was an incredible experience! Not only is Nicole an amazing artist that left me with work I am proud to wear on my leg, she also did everything in her power to ensure that I was comfortable the whole time. She, as well as the other artists in the shop, had a wonderful personality that contributed to the welcoming atmosphere of the shop overall. I am so excited to be back for another in October!
Today was my first time at the crucible and honestly it was a great experience. All the people there are so welcoming and sweet. Gabe did this tattoo for me, he’s done all of my tattoos and he is amazing! He kept checking on me, making sure I was okay. He always goes beyond what you expect and he always makes sure that you are comfortable. This is my 5th tattoo and I wanted to cover up some old scars and he did amazing at covering them up. It’s not done yet either so it’s gonna get even better than it already is. 100% recommend the crucible and gabe!
I love this place! Already have gotten 2 tattoos from here, and will come back. Place is clean, plays great music and everyone in it is nice. Josh did my first tattoo and Nicole did my most recent. So happy I could book her in her first week! Will definitely be coming back.
Finally made the trip from Maryland to visit this beautiful shop! Ive been getting tattooed by Taylor for years and I am always extremely happy with everything he does! Super proud of him for opening his own business. Every artist he employs does amazing work! The Gallery is gorgeous. There is always a new show to display different artists works and a wide range of media. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, you cant go wrong with this shop!!

I participated in and was the point person for a group art exhibit at The Crucible Art Collective and had a wonderful experience. Alicia Malik (gallery curator and manager) was communicative, supportive and warm. She made sure we felt taken care of, provided any help and input that was needed, while also prioritizing our vision for the show. She was hands on for installation, which was appreciated. Taylor Heald (owner and tattoo artist) was also really inviting, made us feel welcome, and kept a cool and attentive presence throughout our works stay in the space. The space itself was one of our favorites and gallery goers commented on how much they enjoyed being there and seeing the work in this visually appealing, professional and relaxed environment. Highly recommend to any artists who are interested in a solo or group exhibition experience. Many thanks to Taylor, Alicia and all those that participated and viewed the exhibit!
Taylor Healed did an absolutely stunning job on my tattoo. He was very sweet, personable, and experienced along with the rest of the staff that I had met during my appointment. The shop was super clean and visually pleasing in my opinion and as an added bonus had lots of super cool artwork to look around at/purchase! So overall I was more then satisfied with my time and money spent there and would fully recommend it to anyone looking for great artists to do their next or even first tattoos.
I got my first tattoo today by Nicole! I felt very comfortable and my grandma as well! Very friendly staff, and customers! Very clean, and such a cute place! Was a great experience! Highly recommend!:)
I just got my first tattoo done at this shop by Taylor and it was such a great experience! The shop is very beautiful and clean, and all staff are friendly, welcoming, and professional. The artist was very kind and direct and made sure that I liked the design and felt comfortable with it before it was actually tattooed. During the tattoo process I was also assured that if at any time I needed to take a break, stretch, adjust, etc. that is was okay and to just ask. The quality of my tattoo is incredible, so many amazing little details, and lovely color work. By getting a tattoo by such a talented and considerate artist, it made the entire process an enjoying and rewarding experience with a beautiful end result.
I have had a few sessions with Taylor at The Crucible and couldnt be happier! The shop is newer in the area and is in a great spot on Connecticut St downtown! My experiences there have always been very pleasant and professional, Taylor is a very talented artist and I feel lucky to have been tattooed by him. I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he made it into a cohesive piece of work. I couldnt recommend this place more!!
Taylor is an extremely talented artist. I noticed a tattoo on my friend, which led me to Taylor. I got my first tattoo, a bird commemorating my grandmother. While drawing, he regularly asked me to give feedback on how I wanted the tattoo to look. He was very considerate and skilled to take what I was sharing and tweaked his sketches to reflect the idea better. The Crucible is well designed, clean, open, and comfortable building. It was welcoming is every area including how great it smelled! The staff is extremely friendly and personable. My husband and I were also do impressed with how they regularly host artist shows and offer a place to grow artist publicity and talent. Ive already recommended him to a couple friends. Well done!
Another awesome experience getting tattooed by Taylor. He really took his time working with me on the design, making sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. Im thrilled with how it turned out. The studio is welcoming, bright, and clean. Great vibes there.
There is some incredible talent at this studio. But let’s talk about the first moment when you walk in; it’s not only a tattoo studio, it’s an art gallery. And each month they switch out the art with all local artists. From paintings, to sculptures, to other art installations, the place is booming with a beautiful energy. The studio is also immaculately clean. Since reopening after COVID, your temp is taken at the door and you’re asked to wash your hands and sanitize your phone. And then there’s the tattooing; Taylor goes above and beyond and it’s evident that he puts his heart into everything he creates. And as a business owner, he’s professional and takes his time to make sure you’re completely comfortable. I’ve also been tattooed by Josh there (Stubborn Tattoos) and he is just a sweet, talented soul. The Crucible is my new favorite tattoo studio.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The layout of the different areas, the degree of cleanliness, the environment itself- no detail is skipped here. Taylor was incredibly thorough and attentive during the whole 8 hour tattoo process. Everyone in the building is genuinely friendly and welcoming. You can tell this is a group of people who sincerely support one another and CARE about what they do. Would recommend to anyone.
Today I saw Taylor for my second tattoo with him! Hes such a talented and thoughtful artist who ensures his clients happiness every step of the way! It was so great to collaborate with him on my newest work of art. The entire staff are kind and nice, the shop/gallery is stunning with interesting art everywhere you look. Its perfectly spotless and professional! 10/10 would recommend!
This was my second session with Sam! Taylor and the entire crew are amazingly professional and are exceptionally talented in the work they do. I really felt safe, especially now with having a temperature. Heck, hand sanitizer and even wipe my phone! They all work well together and it’s obviously that they respect each other’s work and talent in different areas. Sam is exceptional in water color tattoos, which is very hard to find someone that does it so well. You won’t be disappointed
This place is amazing. Clean, Professional, and has a very welcoming vibe. All of the artists pull clean lines and will give you a high quality tat. I got my chest done by Josh Johns and am in love with it. He was super friendly from the start and made it an overall really good experience. It’s a privilege to have this dope shop in Buffalo. The Crucible Art Collective is an amazing gallery and tattoo shop. I had the opportunity to see the gallery for the first time today. These artists are extremely talented. I had an appointment with the amazing artist Sam to continue working on a tattoo on my arm. Everyone was so nice to talk to and it was awesome to look at all of the beautiful art. I highly recommend checking this place out!
I had the pleasure to have received one of most stunning piece’s I have from Taylor Heald, not only is the shop incredibly clean and full of immaculate artwork, but him and his other artists make you feel extremely comfortable as well as make your tattoo request a beautiful reality. My tattoo was very detail Oriented which he made a reality. I could not recommend this establishment enough.
I stopped in for their Flash Day and had an amazing time! I love that they’ve dedicated some of the shop space for artists to have shows. I’ll definitely be stopping back for an art show, and some more work in the future!Every single interaction I had with staff was welcoming and pleasant. Each station was extremely clean and organized.Everyone, from customers to staff, were enjoying their time which only made the experience that much nicer. Stopping into any new tattoo shop is always a risk to see if the artists are welcoming or “too hardcore to care”. I’m happy to say that you’ll only find friendly faces here.I picked a piece of flash from Taylor Heald. He took the time to chat about where I was thinking of placing the piece and what kind of minor changes he would recommend. After cleaning and prepping he made sure I was comfortable before starting. In the end, not only do I have a new beautiful tattoo but I also have a fun local resource for art!

I had my first session with Nicole Suwalski at Crucible about two weeks ago and I’m already looking forward to my next appointment.She is wickedly talented, sweet, gentle and showed true excitement and passion for her work. Not only was she able to incorporate all that I wanted into the piece, but she continued to develop and sketch more detail along the way. It was truly inspiring watching her work.The environment that they have built at Crucible is comfortable, welcoming and each member of the team makes you feel like you are part of their group. With pottery, artwork, tattoo shop and apparel, there truly is a reason for anyone to visit and walk away with something that speaks to them.
Taylor is fantastic. So professional and he takes the time to make sure the tattoo you are getting is perfect. He has done most of our work and we were so excited to get to his new shop. Had an amazing experience at the shop, Taylor is an extremely talented artist very dedicated to his craft. The parlor itself is SPOTLESS and I felt very comfortable the moment I stepped in the door. When I showed up I had a pretty mediocre tattoo (the crown) on my arm and the artist took it upon himself to jazz it up and incorporate it into the new piece, and it came together wonderfully. Great conversation, amazing work and a great energy from this spot. Definitely recommend checking it out!

From the fantastic line work by Nicole to the clean and professional space, and the overall ambience and decor put together by the owner, Taylor. This week I came to the Crucible for my chest tattoo with Taylor, (my first tat at this shop) it was a wonderful experience. Not only am I thrilled with the start to my tattoo, Taylor was wonderful and super easy to be around. I am a return customer of Taylors and I highly recommend The Crucible! Both Taylor and Josh are rad humans and there are a variety of talented guest artists coming through regularly. In addition to a tattoo shop, The Crucible is a beautiful gallery space featuring different artists each month, musical performances, and drink & draw events. I always love my experience with Taylor and the new shop is great. I came back from NYC just to get tattooed by him again. Everybody there to not only technically proficient tattooers but they’re very creative artists who can take your idea and elevate it. The shop is very clean and professional with the added twist of it constantly having new art on display. Everybody there is super friendly and I would love to come back as soon as possible.
It’s been a few years since I got a tattoo and I wanted a new one on my sternum. Obviously I was nervous but Nicole and the rest of the crew here were so helpful and easy to talk to. My nerves immediately disappeared. Nicole was very professional and took her time to make sure the tattoo came out exactly how I wanted it. With covid being in place, everything she did to prep and get ready was extra precautionary. I can’t wait to come back for more. For sure the best shop I’ve ever been to.
I got a small wrist tattoo in the summer of 2019 and a medium sized forearm tattoo in the winter of 2020. Taylor’s shop is very welcoming, and spotless. Taylor was kind and patient with me, and brought my dream to a reality. I am extremely happy with the tattoos Taylor has done for me and I will not go anywhere else! This shop is amazing. Everyone was kind and welcoming, the artists are incredibly skilled and talented. If its your first tattoo or your thousandth this is the place to go. I went to the Crucible Art Collective today for the first time. I cannot speak more highly of them. Sam did my work today. She is sincerely the most talented tattoo artist Ive met. She did the impossible and covered up a horrible tattoo with something absolutely stunning. All of the artists are so deeply talented. The art displayed on the walls is breathtaking. Their workspace is clean, bright, comfortable and beautiful. I cannot wait to get more work done by Sam.
The only shop I’ll go to get tattooed. Clean & professional shop. Taylor is a fantastic artist & also brings in the best guest artists from outside the area. My most recent work was with an out of town guest & it was a great experience. Attended a gallery showing here as well, which was a good time & featured some really cool pieces of art. Will definitely be back.

They’re all amazing artists to have conversations with about almost anything, very easy going and extremely friendly. Ive been going to Taylor for over six years now and I’ve never been disappointed. The space is just beautiful and the talent is amazing. I spent over seven hours here getting tattooed on a Friday and it was a really lovely experience. The space was open and very clean with warm indoor lighting and lots of natural light. This is an art gallery too and there is a ton of beautiful, well rendered art on the walls. The folks that run this place are so kind and personable and very talented. Im new to Buffalo and spent some time searching for a Buffalo tattoo home base. So glad I found Crucible. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you!!
I had the pleasure of getting some work done at this studio a month back and couldn’t be happier. Super clean and open. Friendly atmosphere. Josh put together a drawing for me based off some ideas I gave him and it looked awesome. Actual tattoo work was equally awesome. Full marks to this team. I would strongly recommend. Only a matter of time until I get back there again myself.
I have been tattooed by Taylor several times over the last few years and I am extremely happy with his work. He’s very good at taking a story or concept and actualizing it onto skin. The Crucible itself is immensely clean and the art that fills the place is gorgeous!

I went to my fiances art gallery that was at The Crucible Art Collective and started talking to Taylor, one of the artists. The gallery is amazing and set up well. Taylor also did an amazing job on the tattoo as well. I picked out piece from his flash book and we talked about adding some flowers to it to fill out the space. Very pleased with the turnout of my tattoo by Christopher. He was in for a few days here as a guest. Very talented artist and highly recommend. He is from Cortland, NY. As for the place itself and the artists who are there full time, I felt very welcomed, as I went in a little nervous, but as soon as I walked in it was very clean and everyone there was so fun to be around. He made sure everything was the way I wanted it and showed me the packaging to the new needle which definitely made me feel better about it. Definitely will go back whenever I want a new piece:)

I recently went & had some small work done w/ Nicole Suwalski, script names, new & a 10 year refresh.. Nicole was amazing! She did exactly what I wanted! She is so professional, laid back and friendly, an overall sweetheart! We’re going to fix/add and finish up some older work I had done creating a full leg piece, I was unsure exactly what I wanted..herself and another artist took the time to look at my previous work & talk about it, you can tell they are actually understanding and experts, creating art, not just rushing the process. Also, the crucible is a super clean/ sterile shop environment, working in health care for 12+ years I can tell you it was on a different level.Nicole is definitely my new artist & I’m sooo happy I found her!!
Just got a tattoo from Josh and he is so talented and professional! He makes the entire process comfortable and easy making sure everything is 100% what you want. Most importantly The tattoo came out amazing and the lines were crisp and clean and Im in love with my tattoo. Highly recommend!!! The art there is also something worth seeing by itself! Hands down one of the coolest tattoo studios/ art galleries in Buffalo NY. A professional environment accompanied by a chill atmosphere, with a lot of great art adorning the walls. The artists are talented and the do great work. Josh specifically did a fantastic job on my piece. 10/10 would recommend if youre looking to get some new ink!
I had my first large tattoo done today by Samantha. She was very knowledgeable and beyond amicable. Their entire staff is so kind. I had an appointment there with Amy who was visiting for about a week and she finished my sleeve that we started a while back. She does amazing work as well as the shop owner Taylor they both have done work on me and couldn’t be happier. They are both part of my “go to” artists if I need or want something. Clean and friendly shop with great art work on the gallery side. Definitely one of the better shops In buffalo. Stop by and check it out!

Josh is a great artist with a good eye and a unique style. I recently got a gap filler for my inner elbow and he was nothing but professional and willing to work with me to come up with a design I liked. You could tell he was attacking a new style he was not used to, but Josh still gave me an awesome tattoo that i am very pleased with which only speaks to his skill. Great artist and I cant wait to see what he does at this new shop under the tutelage of Taylor!
I have been getting tattooed by Taylor since the beginning of 2016 and could not be happier. I first sought out Taylor for a photorealistic Tiger which he knocked out of the park. Since then, I have gotten two larger pieces from his sketchbook, and just recently had him freehand another gorgeous tattoo around the tiger.Taylor has been the most professional, clean, artistic and gentle artist I know. You can tell he takes his time and puts 100% into everything he does. I always feel comfortable and I swear he makes it hurt less than other artists haha.Although I have only been tattooed by Taylor, the other artists in the shop are also extremely talented and professional. I highly recommend checking out The Crucible Art Collective and making it your go to shop.

Amazing shop! Taylor has tattooed me several times over the years and is incredibly professional and astonishingly talented. The shop/gallery is impeccable. The gallery itself seems to showcase a lot of amazing art. I highly recommend checking it out for a tattoo or even just to browse some great pieces of art!

I recently had my senior show exhibition at the Crucible Art Collective with two other artists. Their staff was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. So I live in Rochester. Tattoo shops aplenty between Rochester and Buffalo. And I trek the hour and a half for Taylor (owner) because hes the most professional and talented tattoo artist Ive ever sat down with. I waited for Taylor to come back to the states after his time living in Hong Kong because he is WORTH. THE. WAIT. His new shop is so beautiful and open and airy and extremely peaceful and calming. Not to mention he gives other local artists a place to display their work for art shows!! Super cool. Hes very easy to work with and takes your ideas and just transforms them and its insane. I literally can not recommend him enough!!
I had incredible work from Taylor Heald! My favorite part of getting work done by him was bringing an idea to him and having his artistic expertise to bounce that idea around and come up with something that has all of the elements that I want plus an even more amazing design than I would have ever thought up. That is what a real artist does. All while making sure that I was still 100% happy with his suggestions. The detail, work, and color are gorgeous.I saw another artist in the shop Josh putting down a beautiful cover up of sunflowers on someone at the next station.Everyone in the shop was friendly and welcoming. The space is beautiful and clean!The shop is also an art gallery so there is a new show hanging each month.I can’t wait to go back in to add more!

Alicia, the gallery coordinator was super helpful and communicative, and she promoted my show on social media through the gallery’s Instagram account. As a student and a non-Buffalo native, I have limited connections within the art scene in Buffalo- the opening night of my show, the owner went out of his way to introduce me to a local printmaker from Buffalo which was a gesture I won’t soon forget. Josh drew and tattooed a cartoon version of my guinea pig that recently passed away and it is truly incredible! Josh and Taylor were super welcoming and made me feel comfortable the moment I walked in. They’re both ridiculously talented and kind. I would definitely recommend this tattoo shop!!

We’ve just finished up a full black and grey sleeve, including my hand, that he has worked on over several years at various locations. Taylor is an ARTIST and one of the nicest guys Ive met. Its his work so I can humbly say that I am constantly asked who did the tattoos he has done and I refer them to Taylor. Taylor and Alicia reached out to me to show my work at their studios gallery. Not only is The Crucible a fantastic tattoo studio, but it is also a wonderful art gallery to show your work. Alicia the gallery manager made sure pieces were in order and was easy to get a hold of even while doing most of the heavy lifting to set up the shows opening, which is great as an artist having a busy schedule. Taylor was extremely accommodating and encouraging about using as much gallery space as needed to create a successful opening and was on top of all social media promotion for the show as well as my own. If you are an illustrator/fine artist/sculptor/creative human being , local or not and would love to show your work at a place that is timely, encouraging, professional, and transparent about the in of outs of showing at a gallery, I can not recommend The Crucible Art Collective enough. Portrait water color black and gray realism there is nothing that she can’t handle. She will make sure you are completely happy with your tattoo, and she will make sure you are at ease if it’s your first time. She will kill it every time. Great place with great artists.
I called to see if they took walk-ins, josh took me as soon as he was available that same day. He was very nice and did an amazing job there. I got a tattoo of a flower behind my ear and he made sure i knew everything he was doing. I will most certainly be back very soon for my third tattoo!
We were in last night to get tattoos by a Taylor. Our pieces turned out better then we could’ve imagined. The studio has such a welcoming feel, and the artwork is amazing.
This new space is absolutely beautiful, hands down the best vibe out of any shop I’ve been in. Super clean, of course. Josh has such an awesome, classic style, and his color work is top notch. 2021-11-16I had an amazing experience with Taylor and Crucible. It was my first time at the shop, and I only had a rough idea of what I wanted. Taylor had a drawing ready, but he completed the majority of the design right on me that day. He is an amazing artist and I could not be happier with how it turned out. Not only is he skilled but he was also very friendly. The shop itself is super clean and has a great atmosphere. I enjoyed checking out the artwork in the gallery while he set up too. I can’t wait to do another project here!

The staff was such a big help, they supplied essential tools like levelers, nail, etc and Alicia took the time to teach me things about displaying artwork in general which will invaluable to me in my future as an artist. They were extremely cautious concerning covid restrictions and truly made the space as safe and as comfortable as someone could ask for. Great experience, really hoping to show with them again.

2021-04-12The Crucible is an incredible space and I’m so happy that I got the chance to go there. My artist (Nicole) is incredibly talented. She was so kind and was very helpful in creating my design exactly how I wanted it. The space is so clean and so welcoming and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I felt immediately at home and walked away with a beautiful tattoo (and a really cool piece of pottery). I’ll absolutely be back again soon, whether it’s for the art or for another tattoo. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone and am very thankful for such a wonderful experience.

2021-04-08I had an amazing experience seeing Nicole for my tattoo today! Not only is her work amazing, but the entire space is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of a NYC art gallery/tattoo shop combo and I loved it. Everyone there was kind, the music was great, and the space is super clean. 10/10 recommend! Cant wait to go back for my second session in 1 month! Thank you so much, Nicole!!!!!
