The Cutting Room in other cities:
Dragon Squad entertains in The Cutting roomA great opportunity I had to actually entertain and do a martial arts demonstration as well as set up my table for HEIMLICHS karate and represent myself Charles Heimlich as an actor for Dragon Squad in our movie trailer presented at The Cutting room we had a great time The Cutting room is beautiful stage was a little smaller than I expected but we had an awesome time well over 300 guests came to see us I highly recommend you get a chance to go to The Cutting room
Went there last night to see Peter Criss. Doors were supposed to open at 830. I got there at 820. I didnt get in until 945!! Had to wait an hr and 15 minutes just to get in for an earlier performance that was still going on!!! What idiot is managing and running this club? Completely and totally unacceptable!!! Never again!! Needless to say Peters and sisters doll performance was cut short!! Also you had to wait on that long line to buy a ticket which would also make people who already had one not a priority for good seating!! By the time dinner was served we were all starving!!
Ive always enjoyed the Cutting Room, but I was really wowd the last time I went there. They turned the room over twice in 5 hours. An amazing double music bill followed by a Halloween party. The waitstaff was working overtime to take care of everyone. Amazing space and amazing staff.
I could not help but feel. Like I was witness to a hustle for $$$ .The talent spent the night simply trying to extort more money from the audience. Clearly they were very talented performers . I don’t think they played one song for more than 90 seconds the entire night. I want to feel like I was entertained and not a witness to extortion at some tourist trap.I think you can do much better in NYC .
Went for the dueling pianos. Great show and the venue was very pretty.Staff was very nice, but the show started more than an hour late meaning we had to wait in line outside for a long time. Then the staff was struggling managing the tables, water arrived 45 minutes after we sat.
We had dinner and saw a live act last night. The cutting room has been at this 32 st location for the past 5 years. It’s a really nice atmosphere inside, with lots of intimate tables nestled around a ample stage. Food was good. Pricing very fair. They had a local artist last night, Nick Fradiani, a talented young rock vocalist from Connecticut. He sang his own songs plus a few Phil Collins, etc. wish he would open his eyes more when singing as that would go a long way in his stage presence. He had a big crowd attend even tho the weather was snowy and cold.
Nice place. The ambiance of this place is theatrical with a bar. Drinks are ok. Not sure about the food. Live entertainment on certain dates. Prices are average but keep in mind there is a $25 minimum PER PERSON! Do the math if you are coming with a group and make sure everyone is aware.
Excellent performance venue, excellent artist lineup, and the food selection -- burgers, gumbo, chili, seafood, salads -- was quite good... especially when you expect bar food!Maybe my opinion is shaded coming off 16 months of not being out, but then, Ive been here before and also had a blast! The P. A. gets a little muddy when up very loud, but thats the kind of music you come to enjoy...
Great, live music up close and personal is a lost treasure in NYC, but not at this place. If you keep your eyes out for specific performances you want to see, you can get great seats almost like the band is in your living room. If youre late in purchasing, not quite like that, but still a cool place to hear great music and get great food with a good selection of drinks. Also, very cool stuff on the walls and the best chandelier ever (made of real Fender guitars of various colors, etc). No wonder Howard Stern chose this place to broadcast the Billy Joel 60th birthday party celebration concert. I like it even just for a cool place to come eat and drink.
Seriously cool venue with outstanding acts. Seriously. Im three to four degrees of separation from Dave Chappelle now. Soon, Mr. Chappelle. Soon. His was the first formal comedy set Ive ever seen here at The Cutting Room. I almost touched his hand. My scrofula was thisclose to being cured. My most recent visit was to the new Burlesque Karaoke on Fridays starting at 10pm.Theres this karaoke thing this Friday, do you want to go?Yes!There will be strippers. You had me at karaoke... but HELL YEAH!The stripping isnt required but it is highly encouraged. One of our group got down to his skivvies. Theres something subversively sexy about a man in a blinding set of tighty-whities. I wore my good bra but I wasnt nearly drunk enough. I did sing though. The karaoke list is quite large. Its a live rock band so its something special. If youve never done live karaoke, do it! Ive done plenty of piano karaoke, but getting support from a full professional band is something else. Its much more forgiving than trying to keep up with a video. You have the full lyrics on an iPad, and if you stumble, the band will get you back on track instead of plowing on. So much better than the standard fare. Guitars, drums, and depending on what you pick, the keyboardist pulls out the saxophone! The dancers were hot AF. I have video. I hope it doesnt get deleted. Are pasties too much for Yelp? Well find out wont we.The drinks are priced for the area and the service was attentive and quick for our rather large party of 10. They have Lambrusco. Im in love.I will be back. And Im going to learn Faithfully in order to meet my monthly Journey quota.
Very beautiful stage, lighting, and excellent sounds; also a nice ambient. Waiters should be courteous for customers/audiences, especially during the live show, and not to walk right in front of the stage/us like that --- pls duck and quickly move on etc.. be smart, cuz were watching the show, thats the main thing in the back area showcasing theatre/stage.
Went to see Louis Prima Jr as our first club experience after Covid. Walked into a beautiful room with an amazing sound system, limited menu but the steak frittes was exceptional, attentive staff and only a $35 cover. An Exceptional evening of New York style cabaret entertainment was had for my date and I for much less than $200!We cant wait to go back...HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Love the Cutting Room as a place to see live music. Comfortable nightclub setup, great stage and cozy ambience. I also have been surprised by the high quality of the food served, especially for music venue. It is as good as a fine restaurant no matter what I have ordered. Would give 5-,stars but the main drawback for me is that the noise from the bar patrons at times has interfered with the listening room experience.
We visited this restaurant for a concert. First, I will say something positive. The decor was gorgeous. We were prepared to eat dinner during the concert and we understood in advance that it would be pricey. The issue was the extremely rude, arrogant, and curt waitresses. When you are paying over $100 for a couple to eat on top of the price of the concert tickets, you would expect not to be treated like dirt. The food was ok, not good, not bad. It was about the quality of a discount chain restaurant. But here is the kicker, the restaurant manager stopped the show, told the band that their 2 hour limit was up and we were all ushered out of the restaurant. It was so bizarre.
I went here for my favorite bands concert. The venue is very disappointing. Server was far from attentive and it took forever to get our order in which caused food being delivered to the table right as the concert started (an hour from being seated!). Food was overpriced and far from enjoyable.I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone but if youre to go there dont make my mistake and dont sit by the stage on the first floor - people would literally be dancing around you so you wont be able to see anything.
Its a very intimate spot where artists go to perform. They do have a dining area upstairs where you can get a good view of the stage and they also have a dining area on the first floor as well on the side of the stage. It was an awesome experience. We went to see Luke James.
The Cutting Rooms new venue leaves much to be desired. It may be great if you are sitting right there in front of the stage in the theater area but do NOT purchase standing room only tickets (the only ones left for the show we wanted to see) as there is no real location to stand and see the stage even semi comfortably. The upstairs area has mostly no space that you can see the show properly except if you want to stand in between people seated at tables about 5 feet away from the banister looking down at the stage (with the banister in the view). The back of the upstairs area could work if youre OK to look at a screen projection of the show. (They might as well stream that and charge a fee, itd feel the same). The bar area isnt much better and the sound there is not worth the price of admission as you feel completely disconnected from the performance and the bartenders racket is louder than the performers sound. Its silly.(But the bartenders were very nice and made great drinks)Make sure you look at the sitting chart if you insist on coming here and manage to score a seated ticket as there were people seated BEHIND the stage, literally looking at the back of the performer the whole time. They had to get up and walk to the front to be able to see the projections this particular performer was supporting his show with. I wonder how they felt about that. They did not look to happy seen from our grappled position against the wall in between the bottom of the stairs and the opening of the kitchen door.Shame on the Cutting Room for selling tickets that offer no proper way to see a show. Never again.
My 11 yr old son had a Bass Guitar recital here. It a hidden gem. The atmosphere was so chill, reminded me of a Chicago speakeasy and an old Wild Western Saloon. Just a really wonderful place to listen to great music. Food is very pricey, but a great place to go and experience.
Beautiful venue but, much better for intimate performances and not ones that youre gonna want to be on your feet for, the whole night. Sound was awfully distorted and I saw a band here who was amazing at the Gramercy Theatre. I really think the space was too small for that kind of loud, live performance.
Very nice decor and great acoustics. When you walk in theres a chandelier made out of stained glass and Fender guitars. The music venue was relaxing with tables in a cozy theater. It was an inviting place to sit with friends and have conversation before and after the show. Even though I came here to see a specific musical act, I would go back again because I enjoyed the venue so much.
Get there early for the best seats! Definitely a great place to see a show - we saw a comedian. It was intimate and the food was good with generous portions. Staff was really helpful and friendly. We paid extra for seats in the front - I suggest doing this if you want seats in front of the stage. Each show is different, but there are no reserved seats so get there early for the best options.
Great place for dinner and a show, not a bad seat in the house, food was good and so were the drinks. Server was very nice and what we ordered came in a timely fashion. Only advice is, not sure if servers are told to fall back a little during the time the performance is going on, however we wanted to order more food and drinks and it took some time to track down the server who was in charge of our table. I felt as if the restaurant missed out on alot of drink and possibly food orders. Just a suggestion to management. Otherwise our evening was wonderful!
I felt like a VIP at an exclusive location. At 8:00 Luke James performed; he was outstanding!!!!! It appeared they are short on their staff of servers. I was with a party of (4). We ordered drinks right away; I ordered a cranberry juice, but never got to order my Kale Salad. The server disappeared.....She was covering what appeared to be the entire balcony. I went to an over-flow room/stood waiting for her to walk by.......... Nada. By 9:12pm, I chucked it up that it was meant to be. I treated my H.S. buddy I met up with, instead. The aesthetically pleasing, architecturally divine!
The venue itself is a pretty decent size. We just got a wine and beer- although they were out of what I really wanted so the Rose had to do. $22 for both drinks. We came for a show and it took the waitress an hour n a half to serve us. Bathrooms are down a side stairwell and down a long hall. It didnt feel the safest but bathrooms were clean and cute.
Its a cool venue but the food is terrible and extremely overpriced. Service was also pretty bad. We arrived 50 minutes before the show but werent let in until right before it, when the whole crowd stormed in and wrestled for a seat. We were only able to sit in the balcony, where the rails were too high to see the stage. Despite there being a required food/drink minimum, we didnt get menus or a server until well into the show.
Ive seen Livingston Taylor here twice so far and I think the space is great. General seating fills up pretty quickly among shared tables so if you want to sit with your entire party be sure to be there early. On the flip side, I was by myself at a table for two along the front of the stage so sometimes tables arent shared depending on tickets sold. Food is delicious and staff was attentive without interrupting the show.
First, any venue offering live music and performance is vital, however, What chaos! Obviously the quality of the shows change but the layout of this place, awful. Get there for the removal of the room divider, are you kidding? Ever hear if curtains? My advice on food is keep it simple, stay away from the steak, the quality isnt there.
Went here for the fundraiser of the Davd Z foundation. Amazing event, and this place handled it so well. Great service even though the place was packed. Enjoyed some appetizers and libations. The bar is large and the backroom boasts a perfectly sized stage for live music.
I enjoy the atmosphere and performances, but over multiple visits I find the place to be understaffed as it can take half an hour to get a glass of water. I dont think the waitstaff is lazy, they are just overwhelmed with tables and orders. They are not cut out for the turnout volume of some performances, but the rest of the experience is great.
It was a very unfortunate night. We were looking forward to see legendary actor performance Ben Vereen we heard about. We invited friends from Boston and arrived an hour early to get seats. The event was extremely poorly organized. Not only there were no seats available so you can see the performance, we were told by manager that it’s our problem. The place is a restaurant with a minimum $20/person surcharge. Finally we found some seats and were excited to see the artist. The show supposed to start at 7:30. However, at 8:15 there were no announcement or anything indication when the performance will start. When I approached manager and asked him when it will start the answer was whenever artist will feel liked it. I was in shocked of such disrespect and ignorance. We had other arrangements later on and had no choice as to leave. We were not the only group who left. Others were leaving as well.If you ever have any events at Cutting Room Do Not go!
Besides being cool spot visually, its a great sounding venue; top notch staff. From the owner to the GM, sound/av person all super accommodating(I wouldt mention if this wasnt an anomaly)Ive been working in venues for 20+ years as a musician and an engineer; this is a good one.
This re-invented Cutting Room designed from the ground up with all the themes of music run amok. From the music notes along the bar and the guitar chandelier gives it a fun venue feel. The drinks are crazy priced as one can expect from a place like this and the food that comes out of the kitchen here is very good. The layout is a bit quirky so arrive early to get decent seat for show. The service is friendly and as a whole makes the experience enjoyable.
John Miller Quartet plus 3 were outstanding! The venue is an intimate opportunity to enjoy a show close up and personal. There is a minimum, but easy to reach ordering food or drink. Food is way better than one would think for this kind of service. Would go back next time in the city
The design of the venue was a bit confusing. However, the bathrooms are interesting as it brings you through what used to be the changing rooms for performers (or maybe it still is).I went here for a holiday party so I am not sure if this is normal:The food and beer was good. Also, have some cash ready! There was a bathroom attendant (person in the bathroom who provided hand soap and towel to dry your hands).
Clean restrooms. Good food. Staff should not remove your drinks before dancing. My colleagues and I were dancing. When we went back upstairs to our seats our drinks were gone. Also, my colleagues jacket that was on the seat at our table was removed without an announcement being made. We looked around and found it on top of the speakers onstage.
The cutting room has it all for the hunter of culture. The wait staff is very attentive and professional, working constantly to keep customers happy. The food was delicious and it was obvious much care was taken in its preparation. As far as the performances go, the sound was solid in such an intimate little setting. Frank Carrillo and the bandoleros played a knock down, drag out set, blowing the roof off the joint while bringing sweetness to your ears. A must visit for anyone in the NYC area.
Good place to catch some surprisingly good local acts, but I could do without the nickel and diming. We went to cutting room to see a coworker perform with his band. Though scheduled to go on at 10:30, they took the stage closer to 11:30. We had to pay a $20 cover though the website mentioned only a $20 minimum. Apparently the bar has the minimum and a table for the performances has a cover. The drink selection was modest with only a few draft beers, about 3 mixed drinks and some wine. Food looked better than it tasted. The steak looked very good but was completely unseasoned. The bands were excellent and the accoustics in the room were very good. It could have been a little quieter as the amps were maxed to 11 and no table is more than 10 feet from the stage, but overall a very good place to catch some music, just be prepared for leaving your wallet.
Over the summer planned a trip to NYC; and was pretty excited to visit this venue. Bought some tickets in advance for a show. I get to the door; and they decided its CANCELLED! Called the venue a few times; the host said oh it was posted on the website (never found that, certainly never got an email). Eventually got a refund, but what a pain in the a$#!
This is a venue wherein you will see aging rock stars stagger onto stage and play amazing guitar, or whatever else is available. The entrance cost is a little high, and drinks are not cheap, but, this is New York City, and this place is where you go to rub shoulders with the famously over exposed incrowd and, if lucky, become one of them.
Was just at cutting room for first time to see my favorite, Tuba Skinny. Very impressive venue: nicely decorated, comfortable seating, great view, very good food, friendly efficient waitresses, and good acoustics. I hope management will invite Tuba Skinny back next year; I’ll be there!
I gave this place 1 star because I couldn’t give it zero! Let me start off by saying this place is a highway robbery! Myself and 5 other girl friends of mine went to the “New York Air Sex Competition” and when we walk in they tell us to wait at the bar before we can be seated for the show. So naturally we start to spend money at the bar. After we are seated the waitress tells us with the nastiest attitude that we have to close out our tabs at the bar and spend a minimum of $20 a person at the table. By this time we’ve already eaten and had drinks. It would have been nice to know there was a $20 minumum AT THE TABLE. After complaining about the waitress to who we thought was a supervisor, nothing happened. No one would come wait us at our table, so we had to go back and forth to the bar. Had the the actual show not been so entertaining it wouldve been a horrible night. I would def see the show again if it were elsewhere but I would never spend another dollar at the cutting room.
I work in television and we use The Cutting Room fairly often as a setting for performances and interviews with bands. It is a beautiful room with a theatrical looking stage. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the midtown location is convenient.I have not been to a show at The Cutting Room yet, but I would love to see something there. The room is full of small tables, there is a ground floor and a few tables on the 2nd floor. The front of the venue is a bar that you can hang out at before or after showtime. Its just a great looking space!
Recently there to see Thunderfarm and stayed to see Tapdancer Leo. Both incredible performers. They set their price, reasonable. Food was very good, but service was bland and unfriendly. Worse unforgivable issue for a seemingly A list music venue is that pre show front bar area was rented to private party. They were there also during show. This made access very difficult. Performers told to use subbasement and alleys for entrance exits, unacceptable. And worse, myself a 40 year professional biz person in Corp world, the cost serv by a wizen old blonde hag in box office yelling at people was unacceptable. Never have a party booked while rehearsing and pre show. I will be sure to let other b8z people and artists to forgoe a trip here. Money is not important if you are not consumer-driven.
The sound and sightlines are excellent as us the food. I have two issues; the first is the $20 minimum. That makes it a pricey evening. The other speaks to their attitude towards their customers the doors were at 6 p.m. At 6 not only with the door is not open the outer gate was closed I had to stand outside in the cold and rain as did everyone else. They should have let us in so we could wait at the bar till doors opened. Good thing the show, Jewmongous, was worth it.
Place was great, saw Neal Morse there. However after paying extra money for VIP Reserved Seating I had to sit at a table with two strangers I didnt know because the venue doesnt have seats for one person. At first the staff tried to seat me directly next to stage...right in front of a support beam so I wouldnt be able to see a thing. They only have dining tables for parties of 2 or 4. Also having a $20 minimum per person is a little ridiculous, I ate beforehand and had to spend $20 on 2 very overpriced beers. Its a little sleazy to try and grab money out of your customers like that, I already spent money on a ticket, I would have ordered food/drinks regardless but when you require it, it leaves a bad taste. I wouldnt come here again unless there was an artist I cared about.
New Year eve eventThe event was poorly organized. First thing the food provided was pizza which was disappointing but that was the least one to disappoint. Pizza were not enough for people who were present and they ran out of paper plates that they were serving pizza on. People were eating on paper napkins. Then one of friend stepped up to ask a question about food to one of the staff and the lady started screaming to call security thinking that the guy is drunk. When asked name of the staff member to write a review, she refused to provide name saying that she has right not to give name. The event clearly stated that complimentary champagne toast at midnight but nothing was provided. Half of the staff was not aware of the champagne toast mentioned in the event description. It was the worst new year eve event we have ever attended. Some of our friends left before midnight from the disappointment. If you are looking to start your New Year with happiness then this is definitely not the place.
I like the room for seeing an intimate show like the one I saw today; Im Not A Comedian .... Im Lenny Bruce. There arent any bad seats in the house, in fact, you almost feel a part of the show and for a couple of us Ronnie Marmo (playwright & actor) brought us into his narrative. My only complaints were I had to walk down a long flight of stairs to the bathroom and the bar was closed....could have used a drink. Other than those two ticks it was a very good day for a well-done show in a beautiful space. Im still deciding if the old Cutting Room space was better. Ill get back to you.....;-)
Horrible experience. I was there tonight 4/7/16 for a private event. One waitress can really ruin someones experience . I dont think Ill ever go back in there again. I didnt get a chance to taste the food. The minute I sat down this waitress came up and immediately was rude to me. She seemed agitated and annoyed . I guess I was not ordering fast enough or maybe she assumed that I was not going to order any food. Which clearly stated on the table that I needed to spend $20 minimum per person. I was there to support Daniel school of music foundation for a fund raiser. She apologized, but I doubt it was sincere. The manager just stood there and never asked me what happened. Never will step foot in that place. I hope they retrain their staff to not treat people based on their appearance but to be courteous no matter what. This happened tonight 4/7/16. It was for a great cause, but the staff was rude. Rude staff means bad business in my book
The interior decor, the facilites and sound system were were all great! Food was so-so. Service at the table was impersonal and mediocre. When my friends coat was partially drenched by our waitress bumping into another employee as she was carrying a tray with white wine, it took requesting to speak to the mgr in order for my friend to be appropriately compensated. Not cool! Ill probably return but, Ill sit where a different person covers.
I went here last night with one of my friends and it will be the last time for sure. The bartender (don’t know her name nor care) was one of the rudest staff people I have encountered. My friend had money on the bar for drinks. I mistakenly thought an extra bill on the bar was for his drinks and moved it to him. It was a tip for the bartender. An honest mistake which I openly apologized to her for and meant nothing by it. She proceeds to yell that I’m trying to steal her tips and goes around to tell all her other bartender friends how horrible I am and what not so they won’t serve me. Seriously grow up, it was an honest mistake and she acted like I was the worst person in the world and did some unspeakable act to her. Get better staff behind the bar and definitely get rid of the blonde one with the issues.
Nice large music venue with lots of options as to where you can enjoy the music. Theres an open area in front of the stage for standing, tables with seating off to the side and in the back they have a giant screen projecting whats on stage if you want to sit back a little bit. The decor feels like Las Vegas a little with a GIANT chandelier made from real Fender stratocasters! I would go back just to see that. Good sound. Oh but the beers were $8. ouch!
Saw Danny Seraphine’s Take Me Back To Chicago Tour featuring Bill Champlin & their all-star band CTA at the Cutting Room. Unbelievable experience- loved the venue - got there 30 minutes before the door opened and got a good table. Staff friendly and efficient and food good. I come from Australia and we don’t get to see this quality music in small venues for such a small cost. Best music night I’ve had in a long long time. Keep it up cutting room 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Will never set foot in this place again. It has a lot of potential but in a generally sense it books horrible performances (I kept getting emails a about Donnie Most performances no offense to anyone but Rolf Mouth does not do anything for anything for me) but even worse that I came solo f ou r Samantha Fish (one of the few real artists they actually booked) I arrived early and still waited forever for the doors to open even well after the posted opening time. When then opened i asked the hostess if i could sit at a table right by the stage she said it would be ok . After I am sitting there for about 25 minutes and placed a food order(BTW If you donplace an order right away with the waitress in this place they will totally ignore you as apparently they do not have the mental capacity to ask you how you are doing. This same moronic hostess ordered me to move because she needed to seat a trio I reminded her that I was here first and policy stated seating is on first come first served basis I got an an argument from her as well as the trio who arrived late and no business questioned me. I stood my ground but was made to feel uncomfortable and wrong doing so. I had been here a few times before and felt the waitresses were inattentive and were generally rude. I thought this place could fill the void of BB Kings. Not even close service and booking blatantly sucks. Id much rather go see a concert at the Irridum
I am 66 years old and I have been going to clubs in NYC since the 1960s. This place is, without a doubt, the most horribly managed and run establishment Ive ever attended, here or anyplace else. Everything about the place -- EXCEPT the amazing music by Lloyd Price and a pretty good sound mix -- was a disaster.Stage setting; I bought 6 tickets several weeks ago, paying the extra 20 bucks (so $60 a ticket) for VIP Seating. The show was advertised for 8 pm; doors were advertised to open at 6:30, and the $20 minimum could be spent on fairly reasonably-priced dinners (burgers, etc.) So my party agreed to meet there at 6:30.Then the problems start. First of all, the doors didnt open until AFTER 7. The line outside wasnt at all controlled, so people were breaking and snaking into it. We figured no problem for us; all those others probably didnt pay the extra $20 and are scrambling for decent seats. At WELL RUN CLUBS (like City Winery or BB Kings) paying extra gets you assigned seats which you can actually pick out online. Not here. When we got in, we found that, in THIS club, it gets you shunted to two balcony spaces, with restricted views of the stage. And you have to dash to get decent seats there. Then there was the service. ATROCIOUS. Slow, slow, slow. Then the burgers were not cooked to order, the french fries were cold, the diet cokes were flat (and no opportunity for a second ever came), and we had to hang out after the show to find somebody to take our credit cards and let us pay.And to cap it off, the show began with some video clips of Price from years past that YOU COULD NOT SEE from our VIP seats (because of the construction of supports for lights on the stage.)You can NOT run a club worse than they run this one. Lloyd Prices fabulous music saved the evening, but I hope lots of musicians will see this post and choose one of NYs many fine venues to perform. NOT THIS ONE!!!
This was my first time here and we were attending a Womens Cancer fundraiser hosted by NED (No Eviidence of Disease). Im always impressed by the band since every member is a full time GYN-ONC and they all live far away so practice/rehearsal times are limited. What was most impressive was when the survivors came out on stage - I think we all got a bit teary eyed....The food was surprisingly good too! A fun night out for an important cause!

Came for a comedy show (Dave Chappelle) and loved the intimate feel. The service at the bar was a little slow, but it was swamped. Bartender did the best she could of going in order, but people paying with credit cards and closing their tab every time was slowing things down.
We went last night, 2/6/2015 to see Top Shelf. The music gets 5 starts, but we were stiffed by the waitress and later found from other websites that others had the same experience at this establishment. We paid our bill in cash, handing the folder to the waitress on the way out. She came running out (pretty, slender blonde) saying we didnt pay enough, when we had given a $30+ tip on a $108 bill. She counted what was in her hand, and it was $103, claiming we didnt even leave enough for the bill. We were in a hurry to catch up with our friends who needed to get a train and at the time, gave her the benefit of the doubt. Even apologized! However, on the train home, my husband (knowing how much he started with at the beginning of the evening) counted the money in his wallet and realized that he HAD in fact given her the full intended amount. If you pay cash, have the wait service COUNT IT IN FRONT OF YOU. I strongly suggest you check your credit card charges if you use a card as well. The feedback about the service here is atrocious, so buyer beware. If it werent for the music, the place wouldve closed down long ago.
The guitar chandelier, high celings accompanied by Venice inspired paintings set a regal atmosphere. I was at the Cutting Room for The Goldbergs screening I was the younging in the room but I still caught the beat and nodded my head in sync so ha take that, take that in Diddy voice. Who enjoyed themselves? Survey says EVERYONE!!! The atmosphere was chilled everyone was in the 80s element.
Saw sid and bernard mcgirt comedy show here was great , Jacky Joke man Jim Florentine Jim Brewer and cool guy from Rock show with Eddie trunk and others too loved it . Most ive laughed since I was diagnosed with cancer. Im still here laughing it up . Laughter is best medicine thank all comedians and actors who help make rough world a little easier . 🙏i

2022-03-14Updated:The venue itself was a cool spot. Good aesthetics, warm vibe and large venue size. This particular night they could have used more staff maybe as after first drinks we either had to hunt down a server, but more often had to go get drinks ourselves. Other than that the venue is a good spot to check out events.Remaining portion of review is of the event on the night: If you have plenty of money to burn on either paying for a song to be heard or buying enough drinks that you dont care about the prev fact, or that you also paid a cover to get in; then not bad. Kinda like if you paid a comedy show cover then had to pay for each joke. Or if you got through 60% of the joke someone could out pay you to stop the joke and go to another. That said the talent of playing and singing is solid. They do an alright job of entertaining while trying to get you to pay more money. They know a ton of songs and if you stay about 2 hrs or so you start to hear more songs almost fully through.

2022-05-26Line opened late; it happens. Got a nice seat with good view of stage. NICE! It looks like the stage is viewable anywhere and there are large screen tvs showing event as well. The atmosphere is Rock and Roll with a guitar chandelier. I ordered a burger with fries which was very tasty. (a little expensive, but similar to the late great BB Kings in Time Square.). I will definitely go to more shows at this venue

2022-06-21Great chicken wings and fries. Although they didn’t serve with ketchup (had to fetch a bottle at the bar) and salt. Because they are a bit understaffed to serve tables it’s a hassle to call a server whenever you need one. It’s pretty much luck and then you should try and order for as much as you will need in the next hour… The show was good. They are funny and interact plenty. My suggestion to better the show would be to have the players concentrate more on playing at a high level, and interact more with each other.. It’s called dueling pianos and I left under the impression that I saw two piano players taking turns to cater to the audience’s wishes, and not dueling each other at any time.

2022-03-19My wife and I went here fir the dueling pianos and the venue is great. The waitress was nice and the drinks were good and well priced. The only thing that was confusing was the way they tip at the end. They want to tip 18% but dont tell you up front.

2021-12-14Not my first time here. Good venue for a small event. Personal and loved the fact they were following safety protocols. Food was ok, drinks were really good. Great ambiance for a performance. Absolutely love the guitar chandelier

2021-10-10Went for dueling pianos. Was a fantastic show! Venu was great. Very loud-bring ear plugs if youre sensitive or dont like ears ringing afterward. Dont worry, youll hear the show just fine with them :)

2022-06-01Great place for sure, so I rated it 5 stars. Wonderful food and service, and a great sound tech, however...... They are harboring a crack head waitress who WILL steal your camera equipment if you leave it unattended for 5 min. Im absolutely sure it has happened before because the owner covered for her with a story about the surveillance system not working. No one runs a night club in NYC with no working surveillance! They are entirely lucky that we didnt involve NYPD that night.

2022-01-17My daughter is a performance artist in New York City and she and Steve Walter, the owner of The Cutting Room, are best friends. She has performed there many times and we have gone there just for dinner many times. It is a wonderful atmosphere and a gorgeous venue. The food is awesome!
