Dr. John Nia is top-notch. A true professional, passionate about his field, and incredibly skilled. I can’t say enough about my experience with him. He is forever my dermatologist. Maddie and Sara, the surgical assistants were great too, and made the visit fun and stress-free.
The most amazing team of very supportive and professional individuals I was able to see a person on the weekend and that was the most convenient part of my visit! they are on point with the quality of service and I was taken care of. I highly recommend t the dermatologist specialists because they’re just good at what they do.
The Dermatology Specialist office located at Sullivan Street, is such a great place to meet the doctor and consult the skin problem.Staff is so kind and professional, helpful also.Front desk receptionist is so organized, kind and hard-working.Whole office is very spacious and has unpopular design also clean and in very good condition.I want to highly recommend this place for you if you need to meet the Dermatology Specialist because they may resolve quick your skin issue, also they know how to take care of patient :)
As soon as I got registered. I was offered beverages. The place and bathroom clean. Was called in a few minutes later. Felt comfortable with the doctors and nurses. Doctor went into details and beyond. Trust them. Took good care of me when I felt woosey. I highly recommend this place.Place has a homey feel to it. Unique look. Love it.
CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE before booking an appointment. I was told that they are in network by two different employees at this office. Fast forward 2 months and I’m getting a bill for almost $500 for two 15 min office visits. The billing supervisor Jessica was of no help unfortunately. Appt 1: Dr. Stratton was more comfortable with having the surgeon do the mole removal and had me book an appt with Dr. Nia. Had I known that my insurance does not cover the visits I would have not booked a second appt. Why didn’t anyone tell me this after the first appt at least?
I visited this practice last week and it was quite odd: I went there for an annual mole check. It was the fastest full body mole check Ive ever experienced -- and I am used to getting them done. It lasted less than 2 minutes, Dr Sanghvi did not bother checking my scalp, ears, bottom feet, thighs and hands. During this short lived consultation, I felt like I was dealing with a medical student, not a Doctor. She did mention that I may have melanoma but isnt sure so she told me to call back in a month to eventually schedule a biopsy. She left the room abruptly and could care less about the impact of such news on her patient.I see that she received some good reviews from patient receiving Botox or fillers. Her commitment to cosmetic dermatology is certainly greater than medical dermatology. Needless to say that I scheduled a consultation with another dermatologist to verify her statements.Since then, I have been trying to obtain my visit summary from the Derm Specialists. Turns out Dr Sanghvi didnt take any note as there is no visit summary available online or at the practice. Ive been calling their general customer service several times to obtain my visit summary and still waiting for someone to call me back as it seems rocket science. I will obviously NEVER return to this practice where everyone seems to be poorly trained.
Dr. Peranteau is great and genuinely cares about helping you with your medical or cosmetic concern. I came to this practice after going to a dermatologist on the UES who wanted to overcharge me for a very minor skin concern, basically improving the appearance of a very small burn mark.Dr. P is honest and I will be recommending him to my friends. I got laser done here for scar revision
Dr. Andrew Peranteau was giving me issues about removing my skin tags. He gave me a 20 minute lecture on how he has to pay $800 insurance and “people like me who are just unhappy with something as small and cosmetic like skin tags have and use free health insurance”. He went on and on about how “tax payer dollars should not be used on things like skin tags”….if you hate your profession so much as well as your patients, then why continue to work on people who are truly insecure about their skin and condition?! No manners or consideration for his patients. He was extremely rude with the language he used with me and insensitive. Sometimes dermatologists just need to keep their opinions to themselves since it was never asked and this was just the case. I even told him i could go and that he didn’t have to complete my procedure but he simply rolled his eyes and was clearly extremely bothered. Not only did it take him 30 mins to see me but he was downright disrespectful, not professional at all, and the worst dermatologist I have ever dealt with. Avoid the nasty tone he has and book another dermatologist elsewhere.
I saw Dr. John Nia for excision of a large growth on my back. It was a little nerve wracking to need this surgical procedure. Dr. Nia and the assistant (I wish I remember her name to acknowledge her) were exceptional. As a healthcare provider myself, I can be critical of other practitioners. They both demonstrated exceptional clinical excellence and wonderful bedside manner. Thanks for everything!
The service is excellent Bobby Buka and hes staff are the best in the stethic and medical field. They are very professional and helpful. They know what they are doing. The office at Greenwich is adorable, love the vintage vibe of. The decorations and art all around the location are very nice. If you are looking for a good specialist, this is the place to go. Totally recommend it.
This practice is very hit or miss. The UWS location seems to be run in a very efficient manner and most appointments I’ve had there are on time, but this is definitely not the case at the Sullivan Street location. After twenty minutes of waiting past the time my appointment should have started, and my Doctor no where in sight, none of the front desk staff could offer any insight as to where the Doctor was or when my appointment would start.I ended up having to leave and calling my credit card company to be refunded my co-pay.
Dr.Jaclyn is one of the best dermatologist I’ve ever been too. She really knows what she’s doing and she takes care of you very well. She’s very knowledgeable about everything. It’s taken me years to find someone and I finally found the best dermatologist ever. I highly recommend you going to her she’s the best of the best!
After a two year hiatus due to COVID my return to Demotologists Specialists continued to be an excellent experience for quality skin health care. Once you open the door to the office you begin your invaluable experience. The staff greets you with respect and professionalism . You are pleasantly directed to a warm waiting area to wait for your specialist. Dr. Sanghvi’s assistant greeted me at time of appointment. She escorted me to the specialist’s room. Within minutes Dr sangho entered and discussed my skin health needs. She listened well and with care recommended the best treatment for dry skin and scalp. She is impressively knowledgeable and recognizes the impact of food choices in treating skin challenges. Dr Sanghvi’s is gifted in applying many skin procedures (see website). I highly recommend making your next sermon appt at this facility with professional specialists like Dr Sanghvi. I quarantine you will be very satisfied. Mmcormick March 17
I have usually had a good experience visiting the Greenwich Village location. I came for a follow up appointment on 04/05/22 and upon arrival I was notified that I needed a referral from my primary care doctor. Since the COVID pandemic, my PCP’s office operates under a special schedule. A phone call with a heads up days before my appointment would’ve been great, given that I had to make arrangements to request time to leave work early for the appointment. The front desk staff did not offer to call my PCP’s office nor was an apology or explanation offered for the fact that I was not told this information prior. I was just provided with the fax number for where my PCP’s office can fax over the referral. Luckily, I was able to call my PCPs office and was assisted in having the referral faxed over to the dermatology office. I was still able to be seen by the dermatologist - Asmi Sanghvi, DO. But what if my PCPs office had been closed, then what? As aforementioned, a prior phone call with any scheduling, referrals and/or insurance issues is always appreciated before the patients is slated to arrive for their appointment.
In the past 3 weeks, I’ve had two appointments at The Dermatology Specialists — one general exam where a basal cell carcinoma was discovered and then another surgical appointment where my carcinoma was removed via MOHS surgery. Both experiences were easy and very supportive. I recommend the Cobble Hill and Greenwich village sites whole-heartedly. Dr Nia performed the MOHS surgery and he and his assistant were great. Efficient, effective and friendly service.
I have been checked by many different doctors and has always been great, by their knowledge, by they way the pass the info regarding my issue...sometimes I dont want to go dermatologist because its your skin its very private matter, but they Doctors and NPs are great handling that part making you feel safe that you exposed your issues to them ..Today I saw a new Doctor Jacklyn Vinagre and she was quick, kind, smart, showed me empathy and it seems she nailed solving my issue...I still need to see her in 2 weeks but she was spot on!!
I schedule an appointment same day for acne related issues. It was busy but staff were all polite and also actively enforced the mask mandate for other customers. The nurse who I spoke with was pleasant (I wish I remembered her name- my appointment was at 1:25 if that helps) and the Dermatologist (Asmi Sanghvi) was respectful and courteous.I came in knowing the issue and how its been resolved in the past (cystic, inflamed acne on my chin), and I was not talked out of anything, nor did they minimize my concern (I.e: I mentioned I had received a cortisone shot years ago for the same issue and it was helpful; they did not try to sell me other products or push for cosmetic work in the future, etc.)5/5 stars for same day appointment, polite customer service, and a timely visit so I could get back to work by 2:30.
While the doctor I saw was very nice, it was a Friday evening and everything was backed up. I was okay with that, however the face to face time was very limited and he did not go over some very important side effects of one of the prescriptions with me. I only found out when I reached out to my insurance company about how the derm specialists were able to bill me for a level 4 evaluation and management when it only took the doctor 5 minutes with me. After paying the bill, I now call in 4 months later for a refill and they refuse to refill unless I come in again. I get the prescription with side effects is different but the topical medication should not require me to come in every few months. It very much seems like they just want to bill for as much as possible. I will now be finding another dermatologist rather than feeling like I’m being scammed every time I have to go in.
I saw dr Nia at the Greenwich village location to remove some cysts and some acne scaring. He was just amazing!! He was extremely knowledgeable and explained the procedure to me in details which made me very comfortable. He exudes confidence and I recommend anyone with my kind of problem to definitely see him and only him!!
As others have mentioned, they are dishonest about charges and will scam you. I went for a routine preventative annual check up and had some skin tags removed. I was told by the doctor Jarad Peranteau (alias Andrew Peranteau, which will appear on your EOB) they would be covered by insurance but just in case they werent, it would be $50. I then got a bill for $350+. Ive tried to dispute it to no avail and paid it out of exhaustion. Will never return and hope this helps others avoid shoddy service (I still have the skin tags) and dishonest pricing.
Incredible place. Everyone is very professional and friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. I had visited several other doctors before coming here, all without success. However here is different. Dr. Peranteau is awesome :) he diagnosed my issue quickly and successfully treated me :) and for the first time in almost two years Ive had significant improvement. Very grateful for everyone here. Very highly recommend :)
AVOID at all costs. I dont even want to give them one star. I am not a person who leaves reviews, but I need people to know how appallingly bad this place is.TL; DR: They are the reason I wont be able to complete my course of Accutane. On top of that, many members of staff are unhelpful/dont seem knowledgeable. Both times Ive visited offices (Seaport + Greenwich Village) Ive experienced long wait times--an HOUR past my scheduled appt the first time. Offices are also oddly decorated and feel unprofessional. I cannot emphasize enough how terrible my experience has been.If you want the full story (buckle up):I came to Derm Specs to continue a course of Accutane that I had started under the care of another doctor. Accutane is highly controlled, and all patients/prescribing doctors are registered in a system called iPledge. Before my first visit, I requested to switch my treatment plan to my Derm Spec doctor (Dr. Began) through the iPledge website. When I arrive, (after waiting an HOUR past my scheduled appointment time) I find out that Dr. Began doesn’t have access to her iPledge account due to a system overhaul that happened about a month ago (at the time). It turns out, I can’t change the doctor I’ve requested, so I’m stuck without a prescriber until Dr. Began can access her account. Trying to figure this out took at least THREE phone calls with her team, and during each call the person on the phone asked “are you sure there isn’t a button there where you can switch to a different prescriber?”. I had to tell the same person MULTIPLE times that no, there wasn’t a button. She even tried to tell me that other patients had been able to switch their requests, when clearly it wasn’t possible. Dr. Began continued to be locked out of her account.Without a prescriber, my required monthly test results couldn’t get uploaded to my iPledge account. So my account rolled over from “active” to “post-treatment” due to the fact that no test results were uploaded. Now that I’m considered post-treatment, if I wanted to get more Accutane prescribed to me, I’d have to completely start the process over again, which involves taking two pregnancy tests a MONTH apart before any medication is prescribed.I later found out (after hours of time spent on hold with iPledge customer service) that my account rolled over on Jan 21st. The date of my visit to Derm Specs? Jan 14th.So Dr. Began and her team had approximately a month and half to regain access to her account post-system overhaul, but despite that, they couldn’t make it happen, and as a result, I won’t be able to get the rest of the prescriptions I need without taking a month long, or possibly longer, gap in my treatment. And the kicker? I WAS THE ONE WHO GOT DR. BEGAN BACK INTO HER ACCOUNT! On one of my many calls to iPledge to try and plead my case and revert my account to active status, I solved the problem with the customer service rep I spoke to. Dr. Began and her team claimed that they couldn’t spare anyone to wait on hold with iPledge because it would take “multiple hours”, but it took me a total of 1.5 hours to solve the problem.I dont even have enough characters left to fully describe my second visit (which was my last chance at *maybe* getting a prescription before I completely ran out of medication) but essentially, the doctor was so late that I had to leave for work and never even got to see her.I have done everything in my power (and more) to try to make things work, and Derm Specs let me down at every. single. turn.Unless Derm Specs is your only option, I urge you to NEVER go here.
Not worth it. Waited forever and was treated as an inconvenience. Barely saw the dermo. for 15 minutes and was charged $500. I was billed less and treated better for my colonoscopy!! Make sure and ask the charges up front and make them treat you with care - not just a quick and easy money maker.
I saw Dr. Sangvi on an emergency referral from my general practitioner. Dr. Sangvi was on her phone for the majority of our five minute interaction. She looked directly at my skin for all of ten seconds and continued to speak to me while looking at her phone. She googled my symptoms and then showed me her image search results. She then falsely diagnosed me with human parvovirus and told me that I would recover naturally and that there was nothing she could do for me despite suffering from severe symptoms for over a month. My condition dramatically worsened and I found out that my condition could have been fatal had I not received a proper diagnosis. The dermatology specialists are still trying to charge me for this visit despite severe malpractice. Avoid at all costs.
I made an appointment for my teenage son for his acne. We originally had an appointment at the Seaport location but we were unable to be seen because the doctor that day didnt accept our insurance. It was too bad because the office was beautiful. Fortunately, Emerald was able to make us an appointment at the Greenwich location right away. That office is just as beautiful as the Seaport office. The staff was helpful & courteous with a registration hiccup I had. We didnt wait too long to be seen. The medical staff was so great at letting my son & I know whats going on and how to treat his acne and other skin condition. And the fact that they hooked us up with a pharmacy that delivers all the way to Brooklyn was the cherry on top. Im going to make an appointment for myself for a long overdue mole patrol.
This place was awesome. I went in for a removal of a Pilar cyst on my scalp and they made me feel so comfortable. They spoke to me the entire time through my procedure, and it went by really fast. I felt no pain at all. They are very professional, clean and friendly. Definitely will recommend to anyone.
I am impressed with the treatment that I receive here. Ive had a few different doctors for various issues, and theyve ALL been personable, and demonstrate skills that Im very pleased with. The medical assistants are great, as well. Its also a lovely, comfortable environment to be waiting in!
The office on Sullivan is niche and very eye friendly. The staff at the front desk have warm, welcoming personalities, and great professionalism. The medical staff listens, demonstrates genuine care, is thorough and willing to take the time to go over all concerns you may have and how to address them. Dr. Peranteau has great “bedside” manner, spends the time despite a busy office to afford you the chance to express all concerns and needs; he exceeded expectations. Lovely office, all around great staff and fantastic doctor. Would recommend.
I just left this place in tears. The doctor I went to was rude, had zero bedside manner, and was belittling me as I told her I prefer a more holistic approach to clearing my acne. I didnt come to her for a full acne regime - my only ask was for an injection in my large single zit. However, the doctor felt I couldnt approach my acne with a more integrative approach and made me feel hypocritical for coming to her today. She also, used the words: you should come to me to treat your acne - youre young and cute. - AS IF THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOUR SKIN. If the doctor I saw is reading this, you have NO IDEA how much worse my acne was before this point. Acne is a very sensitive topic for a lot of people and for a professional in this industry to speak about it so insensitively is alarming. I ended up leaving the room without the injection. DO NOT GO HERE.
We were so happy with our visits and the expert care received by Dr. Nia and Dr. Peranteau. They took the utmost care to answer all of our questions and remove a cancerous cell on the nose. Dr. Nia operated and provided us with the best options so that it would heal with minimal scarring. 10 days later and we are amazed with the great results, and relieved the cancer is gone. The office staff that helped with scheduling were also very easy to work with. Thank you!
This place is GREAT! You get to choose your doctor and they have same day appointments all over NYC! I have crusted scabies and I had gone to the ER who brought over the psychiatrist because they were convinced I didn’t. I brought specimen and visual proof to my appointment which I specifically scheduled with an Indian doctor (because they acknowledge scabies). She was great! Really fast she prescribed me an oral anti-parasitic and acknowledged the marks on my body were scabies. 100% recommend, and they took my Medicaid!
Medical care was very good.Dealing with referral by fax, scheduling appointment and overall communication with administrative staff was a bit cumbersome. Phone rep asked me which of your fax numbers my doctors office used. I didnt know that your office had multiple fax numbers let alone which one of them my doctor used. With email and text, I hadnt sent a fax in over 5 years.According to reception desk at Sullivan st, my faxed referral which was confirmed as received the day before my appointment, had not been attached to my computer chart . Fortunately I had a hard copy of my referral with me. I told reception desk that according to phone rep I couldnt have made the appointment in the first place had I not provided a faxed referral in advance. To have her tell me that it wasnt there, was a tad annoying. Phone and in person staff didnt appear to be congruent on policy and procedures.
I first went to the Dermatology Specialists in October for a cyst on my arm that got infected, and they were very professional and quick to handle. I had an excision with Dr. Heaton during which he and the team made me feel comfortable and at ease. The front desk is always quick and I appreciate the ease of scheduling online. All of the locations make it easy to find one that’s convenient to you, too!
The faculties and doctors are pleasant but they will bill you incorrectly/egregiously and leave you to deal with it. You will get a $150 minimum office charge regardless of visit type and insurance wont cover. The type of appointment, annual skin check should be covered by insurance yet you will still have this out of pocket charge because of their dishonest billing practices. Additionally, most recently they billed me for services in 2018, 3 years later and admitted to not billing for these charges until 2021 when I visited again but still left me to deal with issue. Billing team rude and not accommodating. Ask upfront about the office charges, expect they will charge you for services not covered by insurance, and be prepared for bills 3 years later.
Went in the office in the Greenwich Village to book a first appointment, and Aisha at the front desk was amazing, was very warm, did everything very quickly and even managed to fit me in to get seen straight away! The doctor was very thorough during my visit, answered all my questions and was even kind enough to check what my insurance covered before recommending some treatments.
This is the best dermatologist office in NYC. Everyone is conversational and makes you feel so comfortable about anything from appointments to cosmetic procedures. They have the best staff and the doctors are so knowledgeable! The office has a great ambiance and isn’t the typical sterile, stuffy place that has plastic coverings on their chairs. The location is easy to get to since it’s right next to Washington Sq Park. I have nothing but praises for this place. Go here for all of your dermatology needs!!
I visited Asmi today, she is always very professional, but I’ve mention the poor customer service from the front desk person, bad manners, very condescending, her first question was… do you have an appointment? Instead a “normal” good afternoon?. This visit leaves me a sour experience from this place just because of her.
My visit was seamless and timely! From the time I walked through the door, the staff was nice and welcoming. Dr. Heatons bedside manner is awesome! He was very accomodating, very thorough in explaining what he planned to do and, how he planned to do it. I had a cyst on my upper lip and he was very mindful of not leaving such an ugly scar ( I heal well and, I pray that the scarring is minimal). I forgot his assistants name but she was excellent!!! She was pleasant and very helpful in the procedure. I would definitely recommend Dr. Heaton and his assistant. Thank you for such great care.
I was impressed, calmed and tended to professionally by Dr. John Nia and his 2 assistants. Had cancerous tissue, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) removed from right upper pectoral utilizing MOHS in first try. Although BCC is most common and most treatable all I heard was cancer and was and am relieved and thankful for the professional and successful treatment outcome. Thanks to all at The Dermatology Specialists.
Just want to start out by saying the staff is amazing from the time you walk in until you leave amazing my 7 year had her Keloid remove and they made her feel so comfortable she didnt cry at all she didnt even feel anything thats how good the doctor was thank you guys for everything
Honestly, the nurse was wonderful, but everyone else treated me like an afterthought! The doctor was the worst, she acted as though something I was terrified about wasnt even worth 2minutes of her time. She spent more talking to the nurse about random things than to me about whats going on with my skin.
Horribly unorganized, even the voice messaging service guy sounds like a robot. The support staff is much more interested in listening to their music than helping patients. The doctor I had was good but there was never any work on a biopsy I had performed there. NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR YOUR SKIN CONCERNS! TRUST ME.Maybe they were just having a bad day. Later on someone from the office called me and tried to make amends I do appreciate that thank you.
Love this practice! Dr. Asmi Sanghvi is perhaps one of the finest dermatologists in the tri-state area. Her knowledge, expertise and skill set are beyond comparison. The care and genuine concern she shows towards each patient, is second to none. Blessed in her professionalism and friendship… #patientforlife
My review is for a specific doctor at this location, Dr. Heathrow or Heath (I apologize for not getting the name right), he’s the new plastic surgeon they have at this location. I am absolutely disappointed and LITERALLY SCARRED from my latest visit from him. I came in with hopes of getting a cyst excised, but left with a wound that won’t close/heal, changed in size, became more painful and is hideous to look at. I don’t want to fully disclose the location of the site but I’ll say that I literally cannot walk without being in pain. And whenever I pee because the site hasn’t healed it feels like pouring alcohol on an open wound.Since being stuck with needles and not being operated on, the bleeding hasn’t stopped, it’s changed in color, size and oh dare I say again the pain has definitely increased!!!I called to tell him about how much it hurted and all he asked was “do I feel chills or have a fever?” No, I replied. And he was like “if you do, go to urgent care and they’ll give you antibiotics. And then a whole bunch of “ I’m sorry about that” and a recommendation to another doctor.Oy! Oy! Oy!. He is my first and LAST Male doctor. Also let me mention, I went to find another doctor because I DARE NOT trust his recommendation (sorry to that lady, I have trust issues) and when seen by them, they were completely taken aback by what they saw. They said and I quote “ lawfully I’m concerned because they did not do a good job at all and to work on top of this would be troublesome. They didn’t even want to touch it any further because they didn’t want to further cause any damage!! I was then asked me to describe my appointment and what happened. Afterwards I was placed for a surgery immediately coming this week. That was the earliest they could fit me. I have to live with this pain for a few more days. It makes me wonder if I should’ve just not came in at all and lived with having a cyst.Sarah Hambleton, however, she’s amazing and I’ll be looking to book with her if she’s working at a different location.
This is a scam. They offer an annual preventative skin screening but bill it as a specialist appointment. They are knowingly misleading their patients - they admitted on the phone that a lot of people have the same complaint but said it’s not their problem. I booked an appointment that should have been free with my insurance but instead I’m $245 poorer. Service was fine except that I booked with a female and there was a male in the room the entire time.
I’ve been to several locations and the staff never disappoints (except one time when I called for an appointment and the woman just hung up on me with an attitude). The doctors are skilled, always helpful. Four star because of the wait time anytime I go. There’s always at least 15-20mins wait to see the doctor, one time it was over an hour. But overall I can only recommend them. The biggest issue at this location are the ladies at the front. Attitude 24/7, it doesn’t matter what time you call or whenever you get there no hello or anything. I said hello, she was like you have an appointment, I’m like yes I told her the time and she didn’t say anything, I’m just standing there waiting for an answer while she’s looking at her computer. I didn’t know if she checked me inalready or needed any information from me or what was going on. Thank God for the nice doctor (Jared P) I been going to for months now and the lovely nurse. They saved the day as always. I go every Friday, so maybe if you want to avoid the attitude, try to go another day. Also, I needed a new referral. They let me know less than 24hrs ahead. It was out of my knowledge that I needed a new one and the lady told me if I was not gonna have one, then not to come. You not doing your job and you telling me not to come?! They were not helpful at all and remind you, that Ive been going to dr Buka’s offices for years. I don’t think they can top this! They definitely need new front desk ladies if they not changing their attitudes.
Firstly, the doctor barely speaks to you. You are asked to list your issues & they prescribe you whatever. Then while inquiring about a refill, I was left on hold for 30 mins then told I must come in again (hence, pay another copay), for the doctor to not even examine the issue, yet again. Would not recommend.
The office is really cool. Does not look like the typical doc office, which helps my son relax. Waiting time was short. The doc showed very good side manners. She was very engaging with my son and treat him with a lot of respect. It warmed my heart. She paid attention to details and listen. She showed very good knowledge of the speciality. We finally found a very good dermatologist doctor. And were coming all the way from NJ
All of my life I have been going to dermatologist to have moles evaluated, checked and removed. I went in for a routine check and they spotted a mole ‘of concern’. This is by far the best experience I have ever had. The doctors were professional, through, they sent out my biopsy for a second opinion and thankfully they caught a melanoma which I would have never flagged. They truly are amazing. I can not recommend Patricia Kennedy PA enough for spotting mole and for her diligence and knowledge and Dr. Heaton for his phenomenal bedside courtesy and care while removing the melanoma.
The 5 stars is for Dr Haley Stratton , she’s a very kindhearted person , very professional, make u feel wanted to go back..she’s very friendly and appreciated every penny u spend there. I really love her. .I have been a client for years, spending thousands a year for treatment. the billing department, very rudely called me, accusing me of not paying a bill even tho I did, I got a receipt from them, and my bank statement show that I did. Am confused, the one who called me didn’t wanted to hear me out, even tho I proposed to email the receipt and my bank statement showing the billing. she was very disrespectful. So I was advice to call the office and discuss the issue with Carl Bonelli, waste of time, I have called couple time and still can’t get to him.. each time I have to wait online for 40 minutes or more, before the call cut off and never got a call back, even tho I asked for one. I have received a bill waiting for them to take me to collection, it’s fair?I am done with them...
Dr. Heaton is a lovely professional man. He removed a basil cell carcinoma from my upper eyelid. I was very frightened, but am confident he did the best job that was possible. We went over all of the surgical options in depth. I would highly recommend him moving forward. Please make sure to do your annual skin cancer screenings!
Let’s just start by saying physician Asmi Sanghvi has got to be the most incompetent dermatologist I’ve ever seen. I had an appointment as a new patient. I told her about my history with rosacea. She didn’t even bother to take a look at my skin. Only to ask me what I had been prescribed in the past. And just prescribes me a completely different topical moisturizer that turned out to be $600. What a joke. She literally walked into the room asked 1 question. Hands me a sheet with information on rosacea, prescribes me some absurd cream and leaves the room. Her assistant was way more efficient and helpful then she was. Also the young ladies at the front desk very nice and helpful. BUT! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! If there were an option to leave ZERO stars I would have.
My family has been going to the Brooklyn location for years; we love Dr. Choudhury and company. Unfortunately once they merged with the larger chain, there have been a lot of scheduling issues and very long waiting times. Hopefully these will get ironed out soon. Also worth noting that the West Village location is the least doctor officey place I’ve ever seen - the waiting room is more like someone’s carefully curated living room.
Just want to thank Dr. Heaton and his team for making my cyst removal and easy and painless procedure. Everyone was so kind, professional, and attractive. What the hell! It felt like I was in a TV show!In all seriousness, I want to thank everyone there for handling things so well. Hopefully I dont have to come back, but if I do, I know where Im going!
The service is superb! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and the office at Greenwich is so clean and decorated beautifully. My provider Dr. Doktor (love) was so kind, friendly and gave me options of how to deal with my condition and made me feel comfortable before/during/after the procedure. Will def go back + recommend!
Friendly doctor but no idea why she didnt do a excisional biopsy at first. It was a small lesion but I had to go there twice to remove the rest 1/4 of the mole, which doubled the healing time, anxiety level and money and cost me $400 instead of $200 even though the front desk told me preventive care should be covered by my insurance.
I did not like the doctor I saw. It was my second time seeing her and assumed since the first time I saw her things would’ve been better. This was the 3rd doctor I’ve seen at this practice, and truthfully all 3 times it was disappointing. I never understood how you can determine what the person needs when you don’t ask questions pertaining to their food intake, skin regimen or just something as simple as your skin history, since everything is connected. What you do on the inside translates on the outside. I like the practice but I do believe the doctors all need to re-evaluate and regroup on how they find solutions for the skin problems their patients are there to solve together.
When I say this place is FABULOUS, I mean absolutely FABULOUS!! We first came to Dr. Buka for our two year old son, and everyone in the whole office was soooooo nice, and Dr. Buka himself was just amazing and thorough, he was so good with our two year old son! I can’t recommend this place enough! I was so happy I even got some Botox because I’ve wanted to for a while for this angry line between my eyebrows where I keep my stress, but I’ve always been nervous…but everyone who works there is so professional and nice, I was like…just do it, already! …And I’m so happy I did!
I had the worse keloid on my ear for over a year and it was so painful to sleep on my left side. The first PA that saw me made things very difficult when he referred me to a plastic surgeon outside of my network and made me feel like it was going to be impossible to get rid of it. So I kept living with it until I went again to another appointment and was able to get the right persons attention. I was finally scheduled to see Dr. Heaton and Im so glad they did because he did an amazing job! He was so nice and quick with the whole procedure and the post care was so on point. Im so glad I continued to use TDS as my main dermatology office and even though there were a couple hiccups on the way, Im glad I stayed. Thank you Dr. Heaton, I will be dreaming of you while sleeping on my left side! Lol jk
The 1st time I went to have a procedure done, I was sooo nervous that I wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue, but as time went on, I was assured that everything would be A OK. It was. The Entire team are awesome. They make sure you are ok. Make you as comfortable as possible. I Recommend this place.
I never been to dermatologist in my life this was my first time. They were so professional and the lady on desk was sa nice. The doctor was so professional, she order a prescription for me before the chemical peel. I’m so happy I went there. Their a lady there omg she so nice I’m so happy she is the one who take me when I’m there. ☺️☺️
This office is pretty terrible.I feel this company has invested *more* into making their offices “look” trendy than actually delivering quality dermatology services.I genuinely feel that all The Dermatology Specialists (NYC) cares about is getting paid. NOT patients. NOT caring. Just $$$.I have been here several times and almost NEVER feel truly valued or respected — not respected for my time, money, choosing them, nothing — and I’m hereby just done.I believe this business was founded by a doctor who had success with a small and limited circle of celebrities, and based on the success, opened a practice. But being a doctor is not the same as being an effective business owner. My experience, whether in person or by phone, is one where I feel regularly irritated and frustrated — even angry, which says a lot since I’m not easily angered, lol. But the level of carelessness, dismissiveness, ineffective management, all wasting YOUR time and YOUR money as a patient; not even BOTHERING to apologize…oh goodness.Don’t get me started on that time I was prescribed more than $1K in stuff only to find it came out to be less than $20 (I kid you not!) with insurance. Someone literally wasted my time (and money! Took taxis) with me going to a pharmacy to pick up more than $1,000 worth of product when the same outcome was available for roughly 20 bucks? I mean: seriously?A lot of their systems are inefficient -- like they need an MBA to come through and streamline a lot of their operations. Im constantly being asked the same things again and again, being shown my concerns are not a priority to them even when Im literally or physically in pain. It has just been so maddening. And that’s not even the worst part. The worst part of the experience is simply how I’ve *felt* as a patient here. With few and rare exceptions, I haven’t felt *respected* or cared for as an individual, at all, despite their lip-service to these things…despite the founders well-written marketing emails...it is clear they only care about money and I plan to take my business elsewhere. No, unfortunately, I would not recommend them.
Great location! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the dermatologists know what they’re doing and are willing to address any concerns you have. They’re very flexible with their process when I brought up some financial issues I was having regarding purchasing a medicine I need. Dr. Melanie is my favorite! Very nice and helpful and always listening for my concerns. They also do have a neat waiting room with books and WiFiLove this place
I followed Dr. Began to this new office from her last one. Shes a wonderful Doctor who listens and dose treatment plans based on whats actually going on. Ive sent three different friends to her and each one is on a different treatment plan so there is no cookie-cutter treatments. The new office is super nice and modern and very clean. The office staff wasnt the friendliest but wasnt enough to deter me from definitely coming back in the future. Highly recommend.
This review is for Dr. Jarad Peranteau and MA Ramathia. My first appointment at the derm specs was with a different derm who put me on an essentially useless plan for my acne. After coming for a follow up by the grace of god I was seen by Dr.Peranteau who immediately trashed the old routine and put me on a plan that gave me immediate results! 2 months after seeing him and I haven’t had a break out in weeks! He is the most attentive, kind, and intelligent dermatologist I’ve ever met. He responds to emails in such a timely manner and truly goes above and beyond for all his patient. The MA, Ramathia always does an amazing job making me feel comfortable and well taken care of during my appointment. She is the absolute sweetest. My favorite duo ever.
The staff is friendly in person, but if you have to reschedule an appointment over the phone they can be rude.I’ve been coming to this location for 2 years, and I’ve never been seen on time. Waiting can go from 30 to over an hour!On my last appointment, I waited for 1 hour. No one came to check on me, and when I asked someone on where my Doctor was, she simply didn’t know. When the Doctor finally arrived, she was in a rush and frantically trying to get her things together. There was no “sorry for the wait” or explanation for what has happened. Completely unprofessional.Needless to say, I won’t be coming to here again.
Reasonably quick and very professional, but probably won’t be back. Wait time was a little high (~20 min) even though I was on time but that is fairly normal. As a first time patient I expected to at least be asked if I wanted a general skin exam (I would have said yes) but wasn’t.The assistant (I am unsure of her exact role/title) was very helpful and friendly, while the physician who actually diagnosed me and prescribed me medication was very direct and somewhat curt.
While the doctors might be ok, the staff is hands down the most incompetent group of individuals in the city. Over a month waiting for simple paperwork to be completed with my pharmacy, and nothing but punting and excuses any time Ive called. Near impossible to get anyone to answer the phone half the time. Find a better doctor if you value your time.
Took time off from work and went all the way here just to find out that they double booked procedures? They said that they scheduled the appointment wrong and there was nothing they could do. This is incredibly inconvenient for patients, and the manager on the phone said that unfortunately these mistakes happen all the time and they often need to apologize to patients for this? I dont understand why they would keep making the same mistakes then. They said that they tried to contact us the day before, but we didnt get any voicemails (we checked). They were also condescending and rude despite the fact that this was completely their fault for double booking procedures.
I arrived Early for my Appointment. The Offices were Nicely Decorated and Located in the West Village!! The (3) Receptionists were Quick and Pleasant! Once I filled out the Necessary Paperwork; I was escorted to a Small, Clean Exam Room. A Kind, Pleasant PA, (with an Intern), Examined me and Prescribed Medicine for my Skin Issue Quickly. Dr. Bobbys Office had a Nice, Artsy, Efficient Vibe!! I will Definitely go Back!!
I had a great experience at the dermatologist specialist. My doctor Heaton did a great job explaining everything to me and the procedure I had went quite well. I was very pleased with everything about the dermatology specialists and would definitely recommend them for anybody else.
I’m torn. The doctors are great however their front desk staff is a huge time suck. I’ve had three encounters with them so far already.1) I arrived for my appointment and they said I didn’t have one. I literally spoke to someone on the phone the day prior and made an appointment. It wasn’t until I yelled at them the manager went and found a doctor that could see me.2) They were supposed to call me about my lab results for a biopsy and no one called.3) They scheduled a follow up appointment for me and when I got there the doctor was confused as to to why I was scheduled an appointment because my biospsy results were normal. If you have a lot of time to spare, definitely go to this office because the DOCTORS are awesome!
Been going to the Dermatology specialists for 5 years now. They are hands down the best in NYC. All the doctors are knowledgeable and kind. Making appointments and rescheduling are remarkably easy. Plus with the cool interior design they dont feel like stale doctors offices!
I have been to three of Bobby Bukas offices of dermatology, and its been a great experience at all three locations. All of the staff was very welcoming, caring and attentive. All staff were educated on my particular need of treatment. And discussed best options for me. I got the privilege to meet Dr Bobby Buka yesterday. He is a very caring; warming person; took the time and asked questions about my life and experience with why I came to see them in the first place. All staff, and Dr Buka are very humble, and were willing to help me. I am beyond grateful for choosing Bobby Buka Dermatology. ALL FACILITIES ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND CLEAN.
This review is for Amy Spizuoco.I would give her 0 stars if I could. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!1. She was over an hour late to my appointment2. She was incredibly rude3. She barely checked my skin when I paid for a skin cancer screening4. She told me she was doing a biopsy on a mole, she extracted the ENTIRE MOLE without telling me.5. She (wrongfully) judged my financial status and brushed off my inquiry about laser removal, stating it was too expensive for me.The most unprofessional doctor I have ever been to. Do not go here!
The doctors at this practice are great! They are easy to talk to, listening to your concerns as well. Wait time is also short which is awesome and it shows the staff and doctors care about their patients. I definitely recommend this place for any dermatological issues.
I hardly ever leave bad reviews, but this is warranted. I scheduled an appointment for procedure yesterday at the Seaport location as thats where I was instructed to make the appointment. Made my way downtown, sat in an exam room for 30 minutes, then a doctor came in and informed me they didnt have the laser I needed for my procedure in that office. Livid, I left and made my way back home, having wasted 1.5 hours. I called and made an appointment for today at the Greenwich Village location as THATs apparently now where the laser is that I need. I then received a phone call telling me that the person who scheduled my appointment messed up because she only scheduled it for 10 minutes and with a surgeon, and I didnt need a surgeon (?!?!). So I made YET ANOTHER appointment for later today, and I kid the world not, I just received a voicemail I could hardly understand saying they had to cancel my appointment because the doctor they scheduled me with wasnt the right one. No, I will not be going back for any procedures here, as its incredibly disconcerting that I was hoping to have a laser applied to my face that apparently no one in the office knows anything about or who should be using it. I know its COVID-19, but this place needs to do some urgent training for their staff.
Would not recommend. Nice people, but felt rushed. Saw the doctor for less than 3 minutes. On top of that, not only was the prescription sent to the wrong pharmacy, they sent the wrong prescription. I was told to wait for the doctor to come in to write the new prescription, but that’s on Friday. I’ll be finding a new doctor.
I found this business through ZocDoc because they take my health insurance. Walking into the West Village reception area I felt like I was in someone’s living room and was offered a beverage from their retro red refrigerator. The appointment itself was on time and short. I met with a friendly assistant first to give her my basic info and issues then met with the doctor who was upbeat and pleasant. I was and have been pleased with the outcome. I have a follow-up tomorrow afternoon. I would and have already recommended this business to friend (s).
The most incompetent doctors office in my existence. Went here as an emergency for a kenalog injection the day before thanksgiving. Went to make my appointment online but called them to confirm they accepted me insurance, the lady offered to book for me. Came all the way from the upper east side, when I get there, they tell me my appointment was scheduled for the following Wednesday but they could squeeze me in at 4. Waited at least an hour to go back, then waited another 30 min. When the provider, Melanie came in the room, I explained to her my concerns around kenalog injections (too much/too little). I specifically mentioned to Melanie that I was concerned about having to come back because Im on a high deductible insurance and have to basically pay the entire retail cost of the appointment out of pocket. Her response was dont worry well find a way to work it out. I dont think any of the kenalog actually made it inside since it was just dripped all over my face and I did not feel any needle.Melanie asked me if I was taking any medication, and I mentioned to her the pills I take every day to try and control the breakouts. She said maybe we should increase the dosage, how much do you have left? I told her I just filled it and had 3 months worth so the insurance would not let me fill a new prescription now. She still sent the prescription in. The pharmacy would not fill it.Next day - no noticeable change or reduced pain in the pimples. Their office was closed on Friday but I immediately left messages asking to speak to an office manager to discuss my experience and my reluctancy to come back. Noone responded to my call. Then I logged into my insurance portal and saw that not only did they bill me for the kenalog injection, they billed me for a separate office visit, which they have never done before because I looked at old EOBs when I was only charged for the injection. As soon as I saw this and what I owed, the first thought that came to my mind was that they absolutely just did this on purpose. I left a message for billing. A nice lady returned my call and said she would escalate my message to management. Never heard from management. Received a link to a survey to leave a review, so I did, and got some sort of response to email a specific address explaining what happened. I did, a very detailed one with photos, showing that weeks later, my pimples still did not flatten out and my concern with what was billed to me. Noone responded to that email, after repeatedly following up practically every day. Then the billing supervisor reached out to me and said the best she could do is put me on a payment plan. They charged me for an office visit because Melanie wrote me a prescription. Meanwhile, when I was sitting with Melanie and telling her MY CONCERNS with the insurance and that i still had 3 months of the medication, she went ahead and did whatever she wanted to do so they could bill an extra $150.I explained that a payment plan is not going to change or help my situation. I still owe them several hundreds of dollars, for services that were NOT properly rendered and ones I did not ask for. She also mentioned if I didnt want to go through insurance in the future, I could just pay $50 for the kenalog injection. WHY did not one single person in this office mention that before - the lady who booked, the front desk, the provider. Instead, they just billed $300 to my insurance and now cant change it. 3 days later, I get a bill from them in the mail. This place only cares about money not about taking care of patients. There are plenty of other dermatologist in NYC, go find yourself someone decent and not trying to cheat you to squeeze every dollar.
Best waiting room in the city. The music is great, there are a ton of vinyl records, and Polar Seltzer in the fridge. There’s a Twin Peaks skate deck on the wall in one of the exam rooms. PLUS, the level of care is amazing. All of my concerns were quickly addressed, and an issue I had with my health insurance was worked out promptly by the desk staff who personally assured it was solved.
Love this practice, and the last two visits were amazing. Everything from the skill of the practitioners and courtesy of the folks at reception to the ambiance is excellent. Melanie is fantastic. Bonus points for the black velour skull wallpaper in the restroom, the Eames chairs in the reception area, the super weird ostrich picture in the treatment room, and the seltzer in the retro fridge :-)
Absolute crooks. They sent me to the Eastside location - with the wrong specialist. I was looking for a hair treatment. The staff there apologized profusely said I would not have to pay for a consult on the west side and they charged me twice. 5 months it has take to speak to someone in management only to be told they consulted me. 3 Hours of wasted time and taking off work to make the wrong appointment. They are just awful.
The person I saw for my initial appointment was discombobulated and kept exclaiming how long of a day she’d had. Great impression when needing a biopsy. She took the biopsy which required stitches and told me come back in 2 weeks to get the stitches out and receive my biopsy results. I was told that the stitches shouldn’t be in longer than two weeks, so I adjusted my schedule to book it 2 weeks out. I proceeded to receive multiple confirmations in text AND email only then to have them call me a day before my appt to say that they need to reschedule me for the following week. I explain that I need these stitches out- per their instructions and basically had to make them fit me in that day. They didn’t have my biopsy results and told me I’d receive a call. Over a week goes by (now we’re at 3 weeks when told biopsy results take 2 weeks) and no call, so I call. I’m told someone will call me back. No call. Finally after several days and calling more times, someone deigns to call me back leaving a brief, unapologetic voicemail with my results. Jesus, it was a biopsy! People don’t take those lightly, especially when the doctors office doesn’t seem to care at all. Will never return.
Extremely disappointed with my experiences at The Dermatologist Specialists. I’ve been to two different locations now and both times have felt like a waste of time and money. I spent 15 minutes on hold just to get an appointment, then the receptionist scheduled me the WRONG DAY so when I showed up to the office for my appointment I didn’t actually have one. They also always seem to be running behind schedule. If you didn’t have to wait an hour past your appointment time to see the PA, this place might get another star but I’d keep looking.
First time around a 15 min look & steroids 2nd trip 15 min look a steroids neither time did I see the Dr I had scheduled an appointment with but a NP or a PA 3rd time great I actually saw a Dr who took time & a scraping it was a fungal infection returned for 1 more visit & was barraged with the absolute certainty this was venous insufficiency & I should go beyond my doctors opinion & see a cardiologist it sent me into a tailspin. 3 Hr appointment yesterday with NYU professor of Cariology who immediately said thats not venous insufficiency tests & lengthy sonogram of veins & arteries. Tests results your heart & arteries veins & normal nothing remarkable no signs of previous thrombosis or enlargement of leg veins thats is usually seen with venous insufficiency.
Most poorly run doctors office I’ve ever experienced. I waited for over an hour for my appointment and then the PA wrote me wrong prescription which was only filled for 2 months. Impossible to get refill on any prescription—took myself and pharmacy 10 days to get in touch. They said they don’t accept faxes and their voicemail box for prescriptions is full. Even after calling the office two separate days I was still unable to get the script filled. Giving up and taking myself to another doctors office. Very unprofessional. I do not recommend going to any of their offices—save yourself the frustration.
Waste of my time. After confirming my appointment and finding the instructions for the video appointment confusing, I had to call to learn that they do not accept Medicaid. Which is odd as I was looking for dermatologist who do accept that insurance and thats how I found them. They claimed to have left a voicemail which does not exist. On to the next one I suppose...
Edit: This practice also marked me as a no show to Zocdoc (this can result in negative account action). Im sure this was done so they dont have to pay ZocDoc or potentially so I couldnt leave a review there as well. In either case, its false. They also reached out to me for a drug study in which I would be compensated $1000+. Even being paid to visit cant get me to return. An absolute joke.Don’t waste your time. This is the 3rd location of the Dermatology Specialist I have visited and they all delivered a poor experience. This being the 3rd location I wasn’t looking forward to it but was hopeful based on reviews.I had an optometrist appointment end early and I walked over and asked if they thought it was possible to be seen early (my appointment was 40 minutes later) it being fine obviously if not. They checked me in and took my co-pay and didn’t say much about the time.I waited the 40 minutes and my appointment time came and went. At the 15 minute mark, I asked when I would be seen and they advised I was next and it would probably be 5 minutes.I waited for another 7 minutes and decided to leave. Having already done this song and dance at their Williamsburg location where I waited an hour+ after my appointment time.I don’t fault them for me waiting early. They could, however, have taken a look and seen that I would most definitely not be seen early based on a full schedule and I could of went and waited somewhere more enjoyable. While 22 minutes after an appointment is not a long time, based on the track record of this practice I wasn’t going to give them any more of my money and most importantly my time.
I wrote the following review two weeks ago, but didn’t post because I was giving this office a second chance. However, today I came in and have had exactly the same issues and this was on a slow Wednesday. This time I did not wait in the waiting room for more than five minutes, but I was sat in an exam room alone for over 30 minutes. Truly unacceptable. Now scroll down to see my review that I should have posted last time and gone with my gut:I have been coming here for probably close to a year. Every time I come I have a long wait. Today, I had a 4:10 appointment. I arrived at 4 and got situated. Waited about 20-25 minutes to be taken back into a room. Once the assistant checked me in, I waited for another hour! No one came in to check on me. I had to call someone down in the hallway. This is no way to treat patients. If you were backed up, a fair warning and apologies before a long wait goes a long way. I will be finding a new dermatologist.
Dr. heaton is a superb dr. hes kind, knowledgeable about what hes doing and an over all great guy! he removed a skin cancer that was tiny. he made this huge incision and I complained how big it was. that was 3 months ago and i can barely see it! he knows what hes doing! i highly recommend not only henry but everyone at the dermatology group is fantastic.
SUMMARY: After several expensive treatments at this office, I was a couple minutes late (though I called and let them know) and Dr. Spizuoco refused to see me *or talk to me* for an appointment Id scheduled months in advance. Im not convinced the doctor was even there. They then called me an hour later to say they could fit me in.I had a treatment with Dr. Spizuoco, my fourth time seeing her. For the first 2 appointments I was over 10 minutes early and wasnt seen until at least 15 minutes after the scheduled time. This time I was stuck in a crazy traffic jam. I had left an hour early and the drive was only supposed to take 30 minutes at most, so I was planning on arriving early. I tried to call to tell them I would be a couple minutes late but since the office doesnt even open until 9 am, I was sent straight to voicemail. (The last time when I arrived early I had to stand outside until someone came and unlocked the doors right at 9 am.) At about 9:02 I finally reached someone on the phone. I told them I was a couple blocks away in traffic and would be there as soon as possible, hopefully by 9:10.The receptionist said I would need to reschedule. As a teacher it is really hard for me to find time for these appointments. The treatment I am doing takes a few days to recover from, despite what Dr. Spizuoco claims. I had this appointment for several months.I arrived at exactly 9:09. The three receptionists barely made eye contact as they told me I would have to reschedule. They explained that they can only allot 30 minutes for each patient and my treatment is an hour and a half so I couldnt start late. This did not make sense. Was Dr. Spizuoco planning to see another patient at 9:30 even though my treatment would not be complete? None of the receptionists answered our question. I also know that my last treatment took less than an hour.I then insisted on being able to speak with Dr. Spizuoco directly. One of the three receptionists said I dont think shes here yet. Is she? Another receptionist quickly interrupted her and said yes yes shes in the lab. They refused to bother her but finally someone went to talk to her. The receptionist came back and said she couldnt abandon her lab work to talk to us.Not only am I not convinced she was even in the building yet (the last time I had a 9am she walked in after me at about 9:04), but if she was in the building how was she already so engrossed in lab work that she couldnt talk to me? I was her scheduled appointment for that time. Most unbelievably, they later called to say they could fit me in because she moved things around. This was incredibly insulting as we had begged them to let us start only 9 minutes late, and now she wanted to start 48 minutes late as if it was no big deal. This was by far the most upsetting experience I have had at a doctors office. I have seen Dr. Spizuoco three times. Once for a consultation, and then twice for treatments which are very expensive. I could not believe she wouldnt even talk to me after I have arrived early to every other appointment and made a huge effort this day to call and let them know I was rushing as fast as I could after a traffic jam.
Everything was going fine with a pretty routine appointment until the doctor asked if I was on Medicare (I have great private insurance with a low specialist copay) and then continued to insinuate multiple times during the rest of the consultation that if I couldn’t afford the branded product (I most definitely can), I could “always call back to get the generic prescription.” I have a combined household income well and beyond six figures. This type of implied bias is incredibly unprofessional, especially in 2019! I will be taking my business elsewhere.
I’ve been visiting Dr Buka for 2 years treating a small, minor condition (approximately 20 visits conservatively). For each of these I paid copay + they billed my insurance. Two specific visits my treatment was very unsatisfactory - the treatment very obviously failed. I contacted billing said I did not want to be held responsible for these treatments since they were so obviously unsatisfactory (I questioned the nurse practitioner during the treatment and said this did not work in the past) - but they refused to review the charges.
The doctor who did the incision on my right ear was not vocal. We shook hands greeting each other which quickly followed numb medication on right ear. He went on to place cloth over keloid and began to cut. All the while, the doctor has not uttered a word. He made me feel like I was just a number and not a patient. We were done in 15 minutes tops. This place remind me of an assembly line. An utter disgrace.
Overall poor experience and poor professional care. Unnecessary testing was done, which required a follow up appointment in which i was advised no copay would be needed for the second visit. Months later, collections reached out for outstanding balances owed for treatments that were never communicated. A year later I am still receiving emails for co-payment invoices...
The doctor in my case is Dr. Amy Spizuoco at Greenwich Village Dermatology.I had been getting biweekly cortisone injections for some keloids on my ear. It was having some effect, but at roughly $54/injection, it was starting to add up (all the numbers I will quote here are what I was billed after insurance). The doctor told me basically every time that she recommended a surgical procedure to have them fully removed, and gave me the insurance code for it multiple times, so that I could find out the cost beforehand. Finally I decided that it might be best to go forward with the surgery, but I wasnt sure whether I could just show up for my next appointment and have them do it then, or if I should reschedule, since I didnt want to waste an appointment. I called the office to make an inquiry about it, and after encountering one receptionist who couldnt understand what I was trying to ask, finally got someone who told me theyd send a query to the doctor and get back to me with an answer.Unfortunately something in this process is very inefficient; I dont know whether its the message system, or the doctors speed at responding, or what, but basically, I didnt get a call back before it was time for my appointment. So to recap, I called the office and asked a question very specifically about whether I needed to come in for my upcoming appointment. I was told I would receive an answer. I never received this answer. So I figured, I would go in, and it would have to get sorted out in person. Fine. Both the nurse and the doctor apologized for having wasted my time coming in; they didnt have time to do the procedure that day and I would have to come back. We briefly discussed the surgical procedure again, nothing new there, and she sent me on my way.Imagine my surprise when I showed up two weeks later to be told that I owed $64. More than it had cost to have the injections done, which tipped me off that it wasnt a charge for an injection that I had missed somehow. I asked what the charge was for, and was given the run around for a few minutes, being told, “Your visit on [the date that literally nothing happened].” Finally after talking to several people, I was informed that the doctor had billed me for a consultation. I explained that we had already discussed the procedure several times, and that I wouldnt have had to come in at all if they had bothered to call me back, but no resolution could be had. Finally I called the billing department, and asked them to speak to the doctor about the matter, since she was well aware of how many times I had come in before, and the fact that everything could have been handled over the phone just as well. But they told me that the doctor refused to rectify the situation, and that I was still liable for the $64.Just as a side note, while I was in the waiting room on that last day, I saw a man come in and speak to the receptionist asking if there was a doctor available for a walk-in checkup regarding a previous appointment. They told him he had a large balance due, and that it was payable immediately; mind you, the man had just walked in randomly. He asked if he had to pay it right then; they asked, “Can you pay any of it?” He was in the middle of getting out the cash he had on his person to hand over when an actually competent receptionist interrupted to say, “We havent even sent you that bill yet. You dont have to pay it now, you can wait.”My doctor was well aware that I was conscientious about my money, since I had opted for an over-the-counter medication for a different issue that had turned out to be quite expensive to have treated at the office. We also talked about insurance and deductibles a lot. Did that stop her from erroneously charging me for a consultation, when she spent about 5 minutes telling me to reschedule? No. These people are ludicrous.
I was so disappointed in my last dermatologist for years I have been going to him. Nothing seemed to help painful injections creams that didnt work and I still had rashes all over my legs which made me self-conscious. But once I attended Bobby buka MD and the doctor that treated me she was amazing wonderful bedside manner Pleasant to speak to and understand and just a joy to be a patient at this facility I recommend it to anyone thats looking for results
Arrived on time for a 4.30pm appointment. Waited 1 and a half hours without being seen by the doctor. At 6pm, I was told by the nurse the doctor would still be another 20 minutes at which point I left. I received a weak apology and a flimsy excuse. It is very unprofessional and disrespectful to be that careless with other peoples time.
Once again they dunned me for a paid bill. Beware. Too bad the doctors are wonderful but they must know that the billing department is incompetent. As an update they sent me to collection for a bill that my insurance company actually overpaid 3 years ago!!! I have reported them to the news stations and the attorney general.
I am giving one star since there is no option for zero. I visited the officeafter making an appointment with Dr Bukka and was told over the phoneand in the office that they could not give me any price for the botoxtreatment I wanted but I would need to be seen. I told them I would notwant any treatment without knowing the price as I did not have anymedical condition and only wanted a cosmetic injection of botoxI was eventually put into a room and someone came in that I later foundout was a doctor She gave me a price which was much more than I had been used to paying for the same service and I told her that I wasused to paying and I told her I was not interested. This was the entireextent of my interaction in this office. Then I got a bill for $200 and a threat to go to collection. I never received any type of examination, andhad no further discussion. The entire time I spent with this doctorwas about 20 seconds or less. I made it VERY clear that I did not want tobe charged or have an office visit til I was informed on the price. Theymake you sign papers saying you agree to their office visit initial fee(I can now see why) but I made it quite clear that I only wanted a priceand the staff told me the doctor would give me the price. this is clearlya SCAM operation and you should think twice before scheduling!
My overall experience was fantastic from the moment I walked in to when I left.I saw Dr. Allison Gruen for a minor procedure. She was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and gave me some recommendations for post procedure home care.Thank you, Dr. Gruen and to all the staff at the Greenwich Village location.

2022-08-13I will always give Dermatology Specialists an A+ rating. They are truly a model to follow for health care. Professional , pleasant , efficient , flexible and great treatment . We saw NP Maria Klimenko. She was excellent , knowledgeable and so sweet. She put us at ease and I felt extremely comfortable that my son was getting the best care. The front desk young lady and MA were equally pleasant , efficient and professional. We will definitely return to this location.

2022-09-02This is the best group of dermatological doctors, and surgeons that I have had the pleasure of working with in New York City. They have fantastic skill, bedside manner, kindness, (as an important general human emotion in my opinion. Aka, healthy geniuses. :) And when I regard, I also mean to include all of the staff. At all of the facilities I’ve encountered thus far. At what everyone does everyone has been superlative. And I very much appreciate it. This medicine at it’s finest.

2022-09-17They make a visit to their offices comfortable. I get to choose the music that we listen to when in an examination room and if I have to wait for a treatment they offered me some seltzer. Doctor was mindful of my state of mind while being treated. Excellent experience while there.

2021-11-16It’s my follow up visit today and had again another awesome, wonderful and most great service experienced from the lobby, scheduler of appointments to Dr. Andrew. Another high five and exemplary performance with detailed, narrative information I got from the test. Ambiance wise, the clinic is very neat and tidy. Can’t help to get a selfie here. Would highly recommend. Kudos… 🤩🤩🤩

2022-04-20Honestly, this place is amazing just certain things I think they need to fix and it would be the best! I had an appointment around 2:30ish. I walked into a very clean and organized vicinity. The receptionist was very nice compared to what I’ve experienced. Now the thing that bugged me was the fact that they had their MA working while feeling ill. It was quite obvious that she was feeling under the weather & during times like this while we recovering from a pandemic I just think they should take proper precautions when dealing with workers & health. Quite sad because she was being very attentive and answered all my annoying questions. I just think that for someone else in that situation they might feel uncomfortable.

2022-06-11The office is interestingly designed. Its comfortable, relaxing, serene. The front desk is always very polite and courteous. They offer you bottle water from the refrigerator. For the most part, I was always seen on time or a little earlier, rarely did I have to wait long. In the beginnin, they kept switching my doctors. But I found one now that I really like and now hes my regular doctor. There was only one doctor, well, its not that he was bad, but, he made me feel hopeless, like there was nothing I could do but live with my condition as it gets worse (Alopecia) and for me to continue to go there for them to try keeping it from getting any worse. That was my first doctor. I was so glad they changed my doctor to a doctor who gave me hope. And so far, the results are good 👍 I would recommend this place to others and tell them that sometimes you have to try on many shoes before you find the right fit.
