Stay away from this place. They willSchedule you wrong and sometimes cancel the day of. The first time I was scheduled they canceled a few hours in advance because they didn’t schedule me correctly and the machine I needed had been out for weeks. The second time they scheduled me they scheduled me wrong again after I asked specifically twice for the procedure I needed. Was never warned about the 10 minute grace period and was told to get there at 6 or I couldn’t get seen and I got there at 5:59 and was scheduled incorrectly based off the length of my procedure so they decided not to see me. Spent 100$ on an Uber there and back and took time off work twice to get seen and all they offered was to reschedule me and the office manager brushed it under the rug and hung up on me when I asked for her managers contact info. They really don’t care about your experience and just care about your money. I left the office in tears and frustration hoping to get an experience I’d been waiting for for weeks.
Had a horrible experience of waiting time even with a scheduled appointment. Came to my appointment on time and waited for 20 min and realized something is up. I asked the office staff how long will it take to see the dermatologist and she mentioned there are 3 people ahead of me. They overbooked this dermatologist and had no regards to the time I took to travel and be there on time and not to mention taking a day off. Office manager seemed to brush it under the rug. I don’t trust them in rebooking an appointment with them ever.
I had an issue with my tattoo, because I have many and it wasn’t healing the way all of my previous tattoos. After the examination, I was told to wait for an ambulance. Because my skin was so infected that it possibly was infecting my blood. Yes a long story. But I went to Cornell lower Manhattan emergency center/room. And I was admitted for 3 days. Battling a bacterial infection cause of the fact that I had the COVID virus. Asymptomatic I was. Go figure. Had the staff and dermatologist not acknowledged that my skin was showing signs that there was more than just a skin infection. Thank you!
Dr. began is amazing. She is very attentive. I’ve been seeing her for years. the only issue i had is with their main phone lines when making appointment. They made it super difficult for you. One girl told me there is no appointment available and hang up my phone. I have to call again and another receptionist successfully got a time for me.
I absolutely love The Dermatology Specialists! I have been seeing their doctors since 2010 (used to be a patient of Dr. Bobby Buka). They have many conveniently located offices throughout the city, which makes it easy to visit whether you’re at home or in the office. The offices are very modern and well-decorated - I’m always happy to visit! I am also always able to find an appointment promptly, and the doctors are attentive, caring and skilled. I was able to have an annual exam as well as have three other skin issues tackled effectively and quickly in the same office visit. I highly recommend this practice for high quality care and a consistently outstanding experience with staff.
I had a great experience here overall. I made an appointment at around 9:30 am and was able to see the doctor at 1:30 pm! I’m so happy they’re willing to accommodate same day appointments. The establishment was clean and they offer you small water bottles when you arrive. The first time I came here my appointment was on time. The second time there was a bit of a wait but everyone was polite and apologized etc.
I’ve been here twice and both times were excellent. The waiting room is socially distant compliant, the check in was quick and easy, and I was brought back right away to the treatment room. The doctor spent way more time with me than I’m used to and explained everything. Customer service from front desk and medical assistant was fabulous. Literally could not have asked for anything else.
This was my first time to Dr. Began’s office. It was lovely and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Began is wonderful, she listened to my concerns and made sure all of my questions were answered. Dr. Began is working with me to solve my issues. I am very happy to have had such a good experience.Thank you.
Dr. Began was true most caring and empathetic doctor I could have ever asked for at the time of unbearable discomfort and pain. I thank her whole heartedly for her wisdom. My hives and suffering disappeared within hours of ingesting the meds she prescribed. The office is also in a beautiful building and neighborhood on front street.
Called to pay bill. I was greeted by a rude lady who made it clear to me if we don’t pay we would be sent to collection. Disregarding the fact that the reason I called was to pay over the phone. After a second call attempt I was greeted by a much pleasant lady who took my info and did not act rude. First Lady was rude in tone and.not pleasant, a bit condescending and patronizing.
Waited an hour and a half to be seen for less than 2 minutes. The doctor barely even looked at my skin. I chose this dermatology practice because the reviews sounded promising and I was excited to have a fresh set of eyes for frustrating acne I’ve been dealing with for years. Do not recommend.
I really love Dr. Began. She is really thorough. I visited here several times for laser treatments. One day, I entered a room, and a medical assistant came to me and applied numbing cream. After a minute, Dr. Began came into my room and asked me to take off the numbing cream since she didnt check my skin yet. Wow, she just doesnt do lasers. She really looks at my skin whenever she does treatment to see if my skin got better or not. I really love Dr. Began. Just one weakness about this office is that here is a bit unorganized and the waiting time is a bit long. But it is still worth for the visit.
UPDATE:I generally have good experiences with this office and really appreciate Dr. Began. However, I got a voicemail today (Friday) about a biopsy result and when I called back, the person told me there was a message in my file that they’d “call the patient back on Monday.” I asked if I could get the results today and she just repeated what she said before. We had a back and forth a bit about what this meant and did this mean I just had to wait until Monday. I don’t understand why I would be told to call back today (Fri) if I can’t get the result today or why the person I spoke to just kept saying what the message in my file said and that she would need to update it.I called back later and spoke to someone else who was a bit more helpful. She explained that they can’t discuss the results with me but they would reach out to the provider and see if they could get me a call back today.I felt the need to share because some additional customer service training may be helpful. I don’t work at this place, so don’t assume I know how your internal systems work. Generally I have very good experiences here.ORIGINALI’ve been working with Katrina McDaniel on a few issues and she is so helpful and nice. Im very grateful for her help.
Made an appt here because my dermatologist, Dr Began moved to this practice. I was pleased that I was able to snag an appointment for 6:20pm on June 18, just a few days after my initial contact. That day, I planned to take the ferry to Wall Street for my appt however the ferry was running late (highly unusual in my experience), so I called the office from the ferry to advise I would be late and to please take the next person. The woman receptionist only asked me how long I would be and said nothing else. As I approached the building (actually standing outside of it) the doctors office called me and advised they would not be able to take me as I was over the alloted ten minute grace period. I told her I had called and provided my late arrival to another woman who said nothing to me about late arrivals. That didn’t matter I guess as she proceeded to tell me she didn’t know who that was and there was no acknowledgement from her that the other woman could have prevented my further travels. One and done…. No, I don’t want to reschedule my 10 minute appt with a Dr who hasn’t seen me in several years and whose staff is incompetent. How does that work exactly? 10 minutes per patient?
I walked into an oasis; the office is located in a beautiful pocket of south street seaport. I was greeted by a lovely receptionist. My wait time was fairly short and check in was quick and easy. The waiting room has a serene vibe between music and atmosphere. If you are looking to improve your skin or figure out what’s wrong. This might just be the place for you. Conveniently located a few block from the pier it is easily accessible to those out of the location to get to.
Heres my experience just to get a laser removal on a TINY area on a birthmark.Doctor A: Looks easy, but go to Doctor B, shes an expert. I can do it, but Doctor B is the best in the biz.*one week later*Doctor B: Looks easy, but my laser machine isnt working, go to Doctor C.*one week later*Doctor C: I can do it, just not today. Come back another time for a treatmentI wasted 3 weeks and they wanted a $250 consultation visit for each doctor. Waste of time and money. Needless to say, I went to a different company altogether.
First dermatology appointment and both the doctor and medical assistant Trisha Morales were very informative and patient with questions.Trisha made me feel comfortable and taught me so much about skin care and answered all my questions and more. Not only was my primary concern answered, but an effective skin care regiment was recommended + more.6 stars if I could!
Really great staff. Everyone was pleasant and they had water available while I waited. The wait time my first visit was close to an hour, but it looked like a busy day and I had a book. I didnt mind as much because Bobby was very personable, efficient, and listened to me. I prefer the most natural options and he worked with me with a smile.I definitely recommend him.
Love this office have been here about 5 times now and my experience is always very positive. The girls at the desk, nurses and Doctors are always so friendly and helpful. Just got Botox my first time and it looks amazing. On top of dealing with acne that has since cleared up since seeing Dr Kat.
I met with Dr Michael Rubio, he was very patient and addressed all my concerns. I left the office feeling confident and at ease. The office is very comfortable and clean, you do not feel like you are at a doctors office at all. Everyone I met with was very professional and welcoming. This is my new dermatologist, because I cannot see myself going anywhere else.
This place is THE WORST and highly unprofessional. The quality of the care is awful and they will schedule you with a Dr. then change it at the last minute without any notice to their patients. I visited for a skin cancer screening and when I returned to get the results, I was only scheduled to see the physicians assistant who just handed me the report and apologized that the Dr. wasnt going to be able to see me even though I had a confirmed appointment to review biopsy results and take appropriate measures if the report indicated concern. Was told that Id have to come back again, then the day before my 3rd scheduled appointment, they called to tell me my insurance was inactive, which was not true. I asked them to sort this out and that my insurance was valid and to this day, I still havent received a response to an email. I then visited the office in person to find out what transpired and I got blank stares from the front desk and billing as to what was going on. I spent an hour trying to sort out the billing as well .... they are an administrative nightmare and will continually bill you even after you have paid your co-pay, which is probably why they dont charge you upfront but rather bill you via mail. Do yourself a favor and steer clear and find a capable and organized provider who can really focus on quality care and are not only concerned about $$$. Because of their lack of care and concern, I now need to start all over again with a new skin cancer screening doctor who will follow through to completion and not make excuse after excuse. Btw, they also have a new plastic surgeon on staff and they will try plugging services for treatments, which was such a turn off especially after everything I went through. In all my days, I have never seen an office so disorganized with scheduling and billing. What a turn-off. If I could rate them 0 stars, I would.
I went with an issue. I said I was leaving the country and needed medicine before I left. It took the office over a week to send the medication, despite me asking multiple times to send it over the course of the week. I left the country without the medication. The skin issue came back abroad and it’s all the doctors offices fault for not sending the medication in a timely manor. Astonishingly unprofessional.
I followed Dr Began when she left her previous positionThe expertise and great bedside manner I’ve always appreciated from Dr Began has not changed eight years laterWhat has improved is the office & the office workers disposition and great their personal care and attention to detailsI highly recommend Dr Began & the office
I took my son who was very young at the time to see Dr. Buka concerning a small keloid. He was very friendly and the visit went rather smoothly. He did a wonderful job removing the keloid and there was no scar or hint of it in the area. I highly recommend Dr. Buka to everyone who needs a dermotologist.
This place is the best! I recently took my brother for his 50th birthday. As a newbie to having Botox, Dr. Began walked him through everything and rather than trying to sell him on a procedure that didn’t quite work for him, she recommended what would be the best fit for his age and the condition of his skin. The personal touch is obvious here in so many ways. I got my Botox done as usual and Dr. Began produces flawless effects. 10 out of 10!
Wonderful experience here today. We originally had an appointment for our son at the Brooklyn office, they took us an hour before our appointment, without fore warning, when they saw that the situation had increased in complexity ( even though our infant was blissfully unaware!). Due to the change in complexity, the doctor transferred us to their Manhattan office where we were seen immediately, they seemed eager to take care of the situation rather than have us wait over the holiday weekend. All the staff were wonderful and very effective. I plan on having my own dermatology appointments here. Thanks guys!
I agree with the review below me that this place is the worst and highly unprofessional. I was convinced by my doctor to get an allergy test (that was poorly executed) that I didnt need all that much other than curiosity for some small reactions I had been having. I explicitly said, many times to may different staff members (the doctor, the nurses, the front desk) that I was only interested in having this test done if I did not have to pay out of pocket for it/if it was covered by my insurance. They called me, told me they spoke to my health insurance and it would be covered (I asked about out of pocket and they just explained the co-pay, no mention of deductible) and I got it done. Now they have been hassling me for $500 over the past many months. I have tried to call many times, and each time I get rude and disrespectful staff on the line who told me this is my fault. When I tried to explain that I now have financial hardship because of the GLOBAL PANDEMIC, and offered to pay a portion/over 50% (of a bill I shouldnt have to pay to begin with) the woman cut me off and said there is nothing they can do. Stay away.
Great location. Staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The doctors are very professional. The waiting room was very nice decorated. Nice music in a very relaxing environment. Very spacious with a lot of seats. I recommend it. My experience was a five stars. If you need a plastic surgeon, this is the place to go. Just call for an appointment they would gladly help you. They are experts in the cosmetic surgery field.
The doctor and his care are about 4-5 stars. There were just a couple things that I didnt like. Before showing up, my PCP kept faxing my prescription, but they kept saying they never got it-I had to email it myself. I did the check-in paperwork prior to showing up. They asked me to fill out paperwork again. I had to ask them to check the online system. I arrived early, but still waited 30+ mins. When I went in to the room, I saw the nurse, then a PA, then the doctor. All had a great bedside manner. My pharmacy needed to switch my prescription and it was very difficult to get in contact with them to do so.
The office is located in the Seaport/lower Manhattan area and had convenient after work hours. The location was great and the office staff was pleasant. Dr. Buke spent time to listen to me and answer any questions I had and explained everything in ways that is easy to understand. His assistant had a friendly personality which I enjoyed. I would recommend him to anyone.
Mostly short wait times to see the doctor. I gave 4 stars because my appointments often feel rushed. “How are you? Good? Any side effect? No? Ok see you in 4 weeks.” It would be nice to have someone actually LOOK at my skin when I visit.I always have to remind the office to refill my prescriptions even after we’ve had a conversation about it during my visit. I hate having to call the office while sitting in a pharmacy because if no one answers I can’t get my meds.
This office is the absolute worst office of any kind of business I have ever dealt with in my life. If you do go to one of their locations and pay cash for your deductible MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE RECEIPT. After my wife and I had finished going there and paying both times we kept receiving Bills for $15.00. Even after paying these $15.00 charges we would continue to get another bill, and with the same invoice numbers and the same reasons printed on the bill. After calling and speaking with various people on numerous occasions all we kept getting wasoh that balance was put towards lab work or some other made up work and this 15.00 is for blah blah blah work. So after the third same bill my wife was sick of talking to these people, so I decided to call and just pay the bill once and for all. I got Jessica the billing supervisor on the phone and told her I just wanted to pay this bill and be done forever with this office. Well the account number on the bill didnt exist so I had to go by my wifes birthday which is another account number; see thats a problem right there. So after paying and telling Jessica why we were so upset , I was assured by her that there would be no more bills, I asked her just to check my name also; and guess what oh look there is a $15.00 charge on you also that hasnt been paid.Well to say I didnt explode is an understatement!!! Keep in mind this is months, at least 4 months later. Of course I just paid a total of $30.00 and want to be done forever with this place. BEWARE WHEN GOING HERE ITS BILLING DEPARTMENT IS INCOMPETENT TO SAY THE LEAST. Nobody knows what the other person or office is doing. Next bill I get will be going straight to my lawyer.PS, the reason for a 1star is because the actual Dr we both saw was a sweet heart and total professional. Too bad I would never go back here though.
I went to Dr Bukas office and I just have to write a review because I truly had such a positive experience! So much of the time people write negative reviews and I think its important to highlight wonderful experiences too... but thats just my two cents :). Anyway, I got a great vibe as soon as I walked up to the desk to sign in. Only had to wait five minutes (I was early) and then saw a lovely phys. assistant who went over my concerns. I always ask a million questions which I know is annoying but she was great. Just everything about it went smoothly. Ive made my next appointment and am excited to come back.
Beware of billing fraud here! This office made no effort to contact me, but instead sent my records to a collections agency. Id been to the office once three years before and paid my bill in full at the time. (The visit was fine, although I was seen by a PA when I was supposed to see one of their physicians, and the wait was a little long.)
It is very rare that I am able to have a phone call answered here. Usually the call is disconnected or goes unanswered. If I select the billing option, option 2, the call is either disconnected or it says that the mailbox is full or invalid and then disconnects.Impossible to get through to billing via email or otherwise. If I did get through to a person (never got through to billing) the person who answered would have just absolutely no clue about where they worked or what they were doing. When you call with questions you are not calling your office but anyone from any office could answer the phone.Dr.s will not cal back after your appointment if you have questions (or email for that matter) Nobody can tell you anything about anything, you just have to make an appointment. We had a problem with billing and after several attempts to resolve it through messages and email (no calls or emails were returned) and the most incompetent people on the other end of the line FINALLY someone was smart enough or knowledgeable enough to provide information. A terrible experience, it just got worse as time went on. Its just a mill. The office visits were fine. Nothing special but if you ever need information or assistance forget it. Wouldnt really trust my medical care to such a poorly run and impersonal establishment.
My overall experience here was terrible. I was a patient of Dr. Began and, on my first visit, she treated me for a skin condition, then sent me on my way. To be fair, this first visit was fine (which is why Im leaving 2 stars), and I had no complications. I returned to their office several weeks later to get her opinion on a different condition though - she conducted both bacterial and viral cultures, and prescribed some medication. I made a follow-up appointment for 2 weeks later. The following week, I called to inquire about my lab results. I spoke with an assistant, who said only partial results available. The assistant was unwilling to communicate them (which is fine, I understand you may want the physician to), but also incorrectly told me the remaining results would not be available from Quest for 6 weeks. I was very surprised (have never heard of a culture test taking 6 weeks), and asked to have Dr. Began call me right away. She assured me she would request the partial results from Quest, then have Dr. Began call me later on that day. She never called.I then called back the next day and, after speaking with another assistant, was informed that the 6-week wait time I was told was not accurate at all (it was likely closer to 2 weeks). I left another message for Dr. Began to call me back with the partial results. Dr. Began did call later that day, and the results were not urgent, so we decided to wait until my follow-up appointment (and full results) before taking any additional action. This was the last time I saw or heard from Dr. Began. The following week, I went into the office for my follow-up appointment / full results. I never even saw Dr. Began. I was seen by another professional in the office (she may have been an MD, though I dont believe she was), who assured me that she and Dr. Began switch patients often, and she was familiar with my case. Unfortunately, while she was friendly, I felt the need to explain the whole case again, and inquired about the remaining test results. She then informed me the full results were still not in. End of the day, the appointment was a huge waste of time and money (for my insurance as well), and I never even saw my doctor.I called the office in middle of the following week again. I decided to get a 2nd opinion from a different specialist, and wanted to be sure my results were still not in. I was shocked to find out the results came in earlier that week, and neither Dr. Began, nor any of the staff called to notify me. Again, the receptionist said she couldnt communicate them, but would have Dr. Began call me, so I could provide them to my new specialist. Dr. Began NEVER called. Given that, I was obviously hopeful all the tests were negative (some doctors will only call if theres a positive result).Fast forward a week and half later: I went into Bobby Bukas Greenwich office today to grab a paper record of my results. I found out my lab results revealed an infectious, COMMUNICABLE virus. I was devastated. More than that, I was beyond APPALLED that, over the course of 2 WEEKS, neither Dr. Began, nor any single staff member in that office, thought it important enough to communicate over a 5-minute phone call to me (after I had already called and left a message). Even setting aside my own personal health, that the risk of spreading this condition to anyone else during those 2 weeks was not a priority for them...its appalling, disgusting, and an absolute disgrace to the profession.I have been to many doctors offices in my life, but this was by far the most neglectful experience I have ever had. And as Im writing this review, Im so furious now, that I have now decided to switch my rating back to 1 star. I will never be back to this office (I have decided to rely on a family member, who I can trust for my continuing care), and I cannot recommend it to anyone else. Hopefully, they treat other patients better, but I do not believe they had ANY concern for me, my well-being, or those around me whatsoever.
I feel this operation has become too big and cant cope. appointments that are an hour+ late. No communication. I have been waiting 4 days to book surgery with them. just called put on hold 35 minutes. they cant get hold of the person who schedules surgery please call back. an absolute shambles
The office and facilities are nice, the staff is nice, doctors are nice. Maybe they’re just not efficient. But no joke I waited 3 hours for 5 minutes with the dermatologist.I was in the waiting room for 1 hour when I finally get to a room where a nurse asked me for the reason of my visit. I said acne flare up, & I thought I’d see the derm shortly. But the nurse told me to follow her upstairs, which I didn’t know existed, only to ANOTHER waiting room, where I sat for another hour.I got into another room finally where the I sat for another hour waiting for the derm. And there’s no WiFi, spotty reception so your phone data won’t work.So I sat there for 3 hours staring at the wall, and raiding there drawers for q-tips and tongue depressors. After I saw the derm I got my prescription but the horrors doesn’t stop there. My pharmacy never got the prescription and I had to call 3 times before it was finally sent through so I waited at the pharmacy for another 2 hours.A whopping 5 hours of my time wasted. The staff was really nice & helpful, I think it’s just poorly managed
By far, Bobby Buka is the best dermatologist that I have ever seen. He is the only doctor who sent me for labs on my thyroid because of my thin brittle hair. He was right! Thanks to him I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 24 years old. Since then, I moved away from NYC and I have never been able to find a dermatologist like Bobby, who can identify underlying issues with skin and hair. Now I have to drive 2 hours from Central NJ to see him because he’s the only one who is a certified genius. Be sure to specifically ask for an appointment with Bobby Buka, and no one else. Otherwise you will end up with a partner or PA on staff. It’s hard to set up an appointment with Buka but it’s worth the wait.
I was hoping to go here as a first time patient and had a very unpleasant experience with the receptionist over the phone. They were very rude and consistently interrupted instead of listening to concerns that I had as a first time patient. Its so disappointing since I was recommended this doctor though a friend and was hoping to have a positive experience. I had made an appointment and then when they called to confirm the time it was for a different time then previously stated and then I was told I need a referral from my insurance company (Fidelis) even after I spent hours yesterday on the phone with the doctors office and Fidelis confirming that I didnt. Then the receptionist told me that I may need to bring additional documents to be sure I wasnt billed as a specialist visit which made no sense since I had mention I spoke with my insurance and that this was just preventative care. She was over all very rude and confrontational. If they treat prospective new patients this badly I am amazed they even keep their business. Complete waste of time and energy just to even try to see the doctor. Dont waste your time.
I booked an appointment with a doctor, but was never seen by him and instead seen by a physicians assistant. I went in for a 10 min procedure and was charged $500, $200 for just walking through the doctor as a first time patient. $200 for not even being seen by the doctor i booked my appointment with. Their billing department is terrible, they dont return calls, voicemails, emails or WRITTEN letters. They are clearly in it for the money and have no qualms about providing terrible service.
Office staff is good, but this guy isnt a doctor to help people. Hes in it to make money. And you feel that as a patient. Office policy is wack, theyll have you come in and undergo random tests for no reason other than to probably charge the insurance company. Never EVER going back.
I found Dr. Buka after hearing about him from a friend of mine, who loved his office. I had a mild case of perioral dermatitis. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Bukas team. I walked into the office and was warmly greeted by the front desk staff. I was promptly brought back to an exam room by a nurse and didnt have to wait long until I saw Dr. Rabach. She was empathetic and spent a lot of time educating me about my skin and what I can do to improve its appearance. She gave me a prescription for an antibacterial topical that worked wonders on my skin! I liked how she took a conservative approach and did not prescribe oral antibiotics right away. My perioral is cleared up! As far as the insurance goes, I always check with my health plan before going to see any doctor. In my opinion, its worth the extra money to see an out of network provider if they are good... and Dr. Bukas practice is GREAT... so there ya have it.
I was visiting dr buka clinic today after a friend recommended it to me.very kind receptionist wich showed a lot of patience as it was my first visit there.was treated very professionally by the medical team there ,making sure i will leave with answers to all my questions.they even gave me a lot of free samples so i can start treating my skin right away .i left happy and calm .knowing i can call or come back if needed and find the same beautiful kindness and care.thanks j
The staff, nurses, and doctors are all friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is they seem to overbook all their appointments. I’ve been three times, at different locations, over the course of three years, and each time I’ve waited in the lobby no less than 30-45 minutes.
Dr. Sanchez is wonderful! Took his time and explained everything to my teenage daughter. He is thoughtful, professional and a bit witty (relatable). Just wished I would be able to get a affordable prescription for my daughters acne. We love the everyone at Dr. Bukas offices. Great staff, always friendly and helpful.
Dr. Buka and His staff treated me so well, from the very first appointment to the treatment I felt so welcome and In good hands. Im an avid outdoorsman, so Im always out in the sun and in the elements. So when I saw some questionable spots on my skin I wanted to find the best of the best to take care of me. So I had a friend tell me about Dr. Bobby Buka and his team and how good they are. So I went and checked them out and I tell you what, I will never go to anyone else but Dr. Buka for my treatments. I recommend him to everyone thats looking into some great care!
I am leaving a review here because I went to this office with my PCPs referral (hence cannot leave a review on ZocDoc). I cannot believe that I am actually taking my time to leave this review.First of all, the staff at the front desk are very, very rude and are not professional. Yes, they are actually bitchy.Second, I had to call several times to get the results for the biopsy and blood work, which should had been ready when I visited the second time. I basically went in for nothing on the second visit because they were not ready with the results.I was supposed to get the stitches out, but they did not mention anything about having to come back to get this done. Where is your professionalism? This was just like taking the money out of your pocket under the name of treatment that you never properly receive.I went to this place because my PCP always has recommended good specialists in the past, but this office will be the only exception. Please save your money and time.
Was rushed and the nurse skipped multiple necessary questions. The doctor (Haleh Stratton) was not professional at all and in a hurry. She set up a biopsy without my confirmation. I was also trying to ask questions and she kept on cutting me with baby and darling without answering the questions and acting like she was a friend. Unprofessional. PLEASE AVOID this place and find a real dermatologist office.
This was one of the worst experiences with no results at all and what bothered me the most was the fact I kept getting bills for services I paid already. After several attempts to provide proof of payment and their recognition of a mistake they deliberately charged my credit card without athorization about a year after the service was provided and paid. I wouldnt recommend anybody this clinic.
I made and had to cancel a first appointment with this provider. I had used ZocDoc to handle all of this as my intermediary, and at the time they were able to confirm that my request to cancel the appointment had gone through. I got a text AND an email from the office saying we didnt see you, guess youre on {insert name here} time -- to which I replied that I had made and cancelled the appointment through ZocDoc.I am *STILL* receiving intermittent texts and emails asking me to write a review, so heres my email back to them I dont anticipate them ever reading:Still a hard no...when I had to cancel the appointment I did it through ZocDoc, the intermediary through which I made the appointment initially; I had also replied to a text message from your company at the time. It appears to me that you dont have a good grasp on your online presence, and given these being my only experiences with you (I have never set foot in your office! I repeat, there is NOTHING to follow up on!!), Im pretty sure this email is a waste of my time.Actually, copying and pasting this into a review might be the most effective way to handle your repeatedly contacting me despite my previous communications -- people should know that if they make and cancel an appointment that they wont stop hearing from you, and that you appear to not respond to being told your communications are unnecessary.Decide for yourself, friends, but I dont trust medical providers with ineffective communication skills. I take my health more seriously than that. (Its not a Mercury Retrograde thing, either; the original appointment was scheduled for February.)
I was a patient here for a few years until he tried to illegally balance bill me for something that they improperly submitted to my insurance company (for which they later attempted to push the blame on me, with my insurance company on the same line telling them they it was the Dr. offices fault). This would be bad enough, but they made it worse by completely bypassing sending a bill to me but sent it straight to collections. They claimed they sent me two bills (as this is their prerequisite before sending a bill to collections) having never received one bill I was I later asked for proof of billing and they only has one billing statement i their records. Again, I never received it. They never admitted fault nor apologized. Against my better judgment, I went in for another apportionment only to be told that I couldnt be seen until my balance was paid off. Earlier I had been told that the balance that I acknowledged that I did owe could be paid off in monthly payments overtime. After I asked to speak with the GM, Sadie who wasnt there, some useless guy told me their policy was that their policy was that half of the balance needs to be paid before a patient can be seen. This was right after the receptionist told me their policy was that the entire balance needed to be paid off before a patient could be seen. What makes this so much worse is that Dr. Buka is truly a great doctor but he has tarnished his reputation by employing such incompetent and rude employees with questionable business practices.
I like my dermatologist Bobby Buka and associates. Class act from decor to professional ambience. Was notified that staff intchangeable but consistent in profesionalism. My initial thought cost effectiveness cheap but because of great customer service experience, they are creating youngins forward with above mentioned so wherever they land forward in their careers we are all better off. Their medical and physician assistants are knowledge with great bedside mannerism. I recommend as great what a doctors visit should be as American medical physicians standards.
I have been to two of Dr Bukas beautifully decorated practices and all of my experiences have been very positive. The office staff are always friendly and the service from the doctors and PAs has been great - they took the time to explain everything to me so I could understand and answered all of my questions. Not to mention they resolved my skin concerns :) I would definitely recommend Dr Buka and his team!
As a business owner -AVOID THIS PRACTICEI am unclear how this office is still in buisness Due to its absolute lack of professionalism and service. My son had several skin concerns and was prescribed an ointment that didn’t help. At our follow up front desk staff super unfriendly and had us wait unnecessarily while they all chatted and had to be reminded that we were waiting to be seen. No management here and it’s a very poorly run establishment
Myself and my family have been patients of Dr Buka for over 10 years and honestly it seems that since the beginning Ive noticed a decline in service, in professionalism, and compassion for patients. It transpires to me that all they care really is about getting rich and famous. If you call the billing department they are rarely available and if you leave a msg you dont hear back from them. If you have to go back to a follow up visit theyll ask you to pay for the previous visit even before you have received the EOB from your insurance company, otherwise you cant come for your follow up visit. They have a in house pathologist that charges almost 3 times the fees charged by in-network Quest Lab for the same service. I was informed about it by Aetna customer service. And obviously you dont know that until you get a bill from them.I really dont have anything positive at this point to say about this dermatology practice, Im looking for another provider.
BUYER BEWARE! While Dr. Buka IS charming, his staff is incompetent. I asked MULTIPLE times what a procedure would cost, before having 2 services done. I was told repeatedly I was covered. What they should have suggested was that I contact my insurance provider to see what my deductible was. Instead, I was re-assured it was all covered to the point they asked me to stop asking about it. That shortcut answer cost me $500 for a free service... and counting. And when I called about it, wow! Thanks for the compassion, Ruth. How can you expect a doc to care for you when they cant even be transparent about their billing practices?
Yesterday was my first visit to Dr. Buka’s office on Front street. I was treated with detail, professionalism, and a wonderful level of care. Dr. Buka’s way of explaining things made me feel confident in following his recommended course of action. I’m sure that my future visits and interactions will only enhance my very positive feeling about this office and of Dr. Buka.Thank You!!
I went to this office with red splotches, was told it could be Lymes, or could be Bed bugs. Was told I had choice of going on preventive Antibiotic , which I found strange since why take antibiotics before you even know what you have. There are resistant superbugs, out there because of over prescribing antibiotics. With that said I had a biopsy. Was told they could tell if its bed bugs but not Lymes, I paid for it as I am on my deductible. Was also told by office that they would put a rush on it. Was given a followup appointment on May 18th at 9 am on Sullivan St. The night before my appt. was cxled because they didnt have result. I work freelance and had to lose work. I am now told It takes 2 to 3 weeks before results, and they will call whenever that it. If you read Mayo clinic or several other recognized websites, you are told how to look for them and what to do. Nothing about a biopsy. In fact it says biopsies do not accturatley diagnose bedbugs. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Your office told me not to look at interenet. Shall I just twittle my thumbs and wait until you decide to give me an answer. 3 weeks for a biopsy answer. Go somewhere else. a biopsy is not conclusive. A biopsy may tell you that the skin marks are consistent with bites, but its not conclusive. I wouldnt waste the time and money (nor would I want a permanent skin mark) - AGAIN.
Went for a checkup at the front street office I found it very warm and friendly staff who helped me out a great deal. The doctors office was clean and I was looked after with the problem I was having. I am happy all in all and my condition is getting better with the help I had. Thanks once again
I never experienced anybody who was as mean as Dr. Buka and his staff. I was deferred twice by his staff and on each time they pretended that they made a mistake and I never went back again. Im luck finding another dermatologist who treated me and gave me excellent results on the first visit. Im so glad I didnt go back to Buka. All I can say is that Ill never have experience their awful service again.
This was the only doctor that was able to successfully treat my daughters head to toe eczema. I was also given a swift diagnosis for my other daughthers scalp condition that we had been battling for over a year. No other doctor seemed to be able to identify the issue or treat it. The staff are all kind and professional. I will always return with my family.
Dr. Buka is amazing, hands down. I came to Dr. Buka as a new patient a few years ago and have great experiences. The front desk staff is friendly and knowledgable. The office is clean, professional, and doctors are so helpful in answering all the questions that I have. When I first went to Dr. Buka, I was 25 years old and was still struggling with acne. The acne wasnt so terrible because it would go away after 3-4 days but, I scar easily and was left with a ton of acne scars. When I first went to Dr. Buka to get a C02 laser treatment, I was terrified. I had never done it before and was nervous. Dr. Buka was very sweet and understanding and really walked me through the entire process and answered every question I had throughly without rushing through the appointment. Two C02 laser treatments later, My skin has never been more flawless! Ive also started using Dr. Bukas First Aid Beauty products and I am addicted. Ive had less breakouts since I first started using the product and my skin has never looked so good! I would definitely recommend going to Dr. Bobby and his office to anyone looking for a great dermatologist.
SAVED MY EYE! I am a patient of The Dermatology Specialists and came down with a rash on my cheek and around my eye. It quickly got worse and I became concerned. Although it was late in the day, I decided to reach out to TDS for a last minute appointment. Because the rash was near the eye, Dr Bobby Buka (the founder of TDS) texted me directly and asked me to send him a picture. I did and he replied that it was likely shingles, which is dangerous if near the eye as it can infiltrate the eyeball and cause serious damage. He immediately called in a prescription for an antiviral, which I started within hours. Not only that, he happened to be heading into manhattan and when he found out I was on the upper west side he STOPPED BY MY APARTMENT TO PERSONALLY EXAMINE MY EYE. It was above and beyond. Fortunately, he confirmed the eye was still untouched by the virus and because he got me on the antivirals so quickly, it didnt spread to the eye. To be safe, he also got me a next day appointment with an ophthalmologist for a thorough examination.I cannot imagine any other dermatology practice going above and beyond like this for a patient. It really made a difference in what could have been a dangerous situation.
If there is a zero star, I would prefer a zero star. The doctor there is good except Doctor Buka, because all he cares is sophisticated disease other than normal disease, he always use intern to take care of the normal disease, and he always wants to get surgery to do experiment for his own research, DONT sign any surgery if your disease is not that complicated. They are always busy and the line is very long. You have to wait for a long time to get to the doctor, and then they will spend a little tiny time on every patient. I have athlete feet on my heel and lamisil is enough to cure it all, but at that time I was stupid. Doctor Bobby took the intern to the room and taught him a lot a lot and then tell me I need to do a surgery to take a skin to find out why. The intern took the surgery near the toe, and Bobby taught him how. I questioned why took the skin near the toe when only the heel skin is affected. they told me the disease will spread. but after a week, when the result comes out, there is no bacteria around the toe, and they told me my disease is Psoriasis??? what???The deep scar remains on my foot now and the nerve around it is already dead. My heel has already been cured by lamisil, thats why I am sure the surgery is a mistake. So DONT do surgery there if you dont wanna be a guinea pig, or your heart will breaks when you touch the scar where the nerve is dead.
Terrible customer service! I booked an appointment and the day after someone called me to confirm it, the lady advised me to get a referral from my Primary Doctor and I told her that I dont have one, she said its fine I will put a note in the system but she never said that if I dont get a referral I will not be seen so I went to my appointment which is almost 2 hours from where I work, just to be told ”You cant see the doctor because you didnt bring the referral ”. I asked the front desk staff to help me and very rude she stated that ”get your referral and call back to reschedule”. It was your employee’s fault and I had to waste my time.
I am a return patient of Dr. Buka and have had great care! First class as soon as you walk in the door. From the looks of the place, to the staff behind the desk and of course Dr. Buka himself.. He was very gentle very professional and very concerned with each procedure I have had. Love him and I will be back 100%
I was in NYC last week visiting my family and I came across a painful large bump on my neck. I stopped into Dr. Bukas Front St. location and was greeted by a friendly staff and really cool atmosphere. Dr. Buka had excellent bed side manner and was very professional. He walked me through my symptoms and provided me treatment options to resolve my uncomfortable and unsightly bump. This is a great practice!
Hello,I have seen dermatologists before. While the office in Williamsburg BK are decent, the staff is sub-par.I was a cash paying customer... I understood what I was getting into. Yet, I meet with an assistant dermatologist that does a quick cryotherapy on my nose (very tinny thing.) That assistant tells me I can buy an over the counter treatment at CVS or alike. He then tells me he will do the treatment...I walk out of the office, step up to those sub-pas staff and ask: do I owe you anything else apart from the $250 visit fee? - answer no man, you gooooood.OK, I walk out and go about my business after having paid the $250 initially. Now I receive another $100 bill for the cryotherapy treatment (3 sec spray that is available at CVS/DR). NOT A BIG DEAL!>!>!>!>!I left 4 voicemail to TRY TO PAY... no call back... (3 during business hours).I rather pay with a credit card than with a check (points and ease). I do not believe someone would have to try to reach out to anyone 5 times in order to pay them! This office is a joke.Do yourself a favor and pick someone that has remote professional offices.
I was seen by Dr. Baokim Bonelli and she was really great. I’ve been having an issue that’s been difficult to resolve, and she was really on point with it. And I was able to get in an out of the office within 35 minutes, which is amazing because I could easily go on my lunch break.
I have been going to two of Dr. Bukas clincs for 3 years plus.My last visit I was threatened and spoken disrespectfully by one of his doctors. I left two phone messages for Doctor Buka to call me with gate keepers.I was told by a gate keeper to send him a email. It seems Doctor Buka has become to successful to talk to a patient who is very upset about a experience he had with one of Dr. Bukas doctors. I am currently looking into changing clincs.
I am so glad that here I was able to see the very knowledgable Dr Dina Began who was able to treat my parasitic skin infestation. Prior to her I visited 6 doctors in 4 months, prescribed nonsense from Petrolium jelly Vaseline, clear Dove soap, stereoid creams to all kinds of staff, everything, just not anti -parasitic pills which were Rx only by Dr Began and finally addressed the crowling and oozing that I had for the last months. Never mind the humiliation I experienced with the other Docs (2 Derms, 1 Gyn, 1 urgent care, 1 primary care, 1 blood doc) - they suggested I have crowling because of HIV, allergy, bad blood, etc- but I have none of it! They suggested that the science has not gone so far yet to discover my issue! OK, and here I meet Dr Began who did question none of it, she just Rx what is necessary to address a parasite! Thank you Doctor!
Horrible space, will treat you like cattle in the waiting room. Cash cows. You will wait a min of 30 minutes, up to 2 hours for your appointment. To them, youre nothing but money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY in this awful space. Go to a doctor who cares about you.
I urge you to look at reviews here and on Yelp. Its the same story over and over. Ive never felt seen a doctors office put profit before their patients like this one. Keep all receipts if you must go here.I paid my copay cash at my initial appointment. A couple of months later, they sent a bill for the copay. Didnt have the receipt, so I sent them a check. A full year later, they sent me a bill for the same copay. I called and complained. A week later I got a letter from a bill collector. I complained to the BBB. They responded basically accusing me of lying and badgering their staff. All this over $20. They are so petty. But I am equally petty.
Take great care when using Dr. Buka with insurance.I was seen by my PCP who spotted some suspicious moles. She recommended I see a dermatologist. and Dr. Buka came in.I was then seen a couple weeks later at Dr. Bukas office, where I presented my insurance card, I was told that everything would be fine. (Note: I did not see Dr. Buka again, but was farmed out to another doctor)When I went back for followup, I asked if they had my insurance information, and was told it was in file.Later on, I get a bill for over $700. I check with insurance, they say Buka is not in network. I call Bukas office, they say he is. I call insurance back, they again state he is not. When I call Bukas office again, I am told they accept my insurance, which is NOT the same as participating with. I leave a message for billing department, and no one calls me back.I call again today, and get another uncaring representative, who gives me an email address for billing department, but not for Dr Buka, and no number for billing.I am now left with the impression that Dr. Buka values volume more than customer service. So be very careful if you have insurance and make them do a pre-estimate.
I was visiting one of my friends at NYU about a month. I had a rash on my leg that kept getting worse, so my friend told me to schedule an appointment with Dr. Buka. I was able to get in the next day! All my questions were throughly answered and was prescribed some ointment. Wonderful staff as well! Thanks for fitting me in!
Went to See Dr. Bukka over concerns of moles. He treated me by spraying liquid nitrogen on the moles to kill it. The wait wasnt too long. On the first visit, he saw me, but on the second visit I didnt see see Dr. Bukka, it was one of his trainees. I wasnt sure if the trainee was a medical doctor. He overcharges the insurance, asking for much more than the insurance allows. Be careful of the services he provide, as he will overcharge and ask you for the difference.
Do not go here for services they say they accept your insurance which is managed care tied with Medicaid which i dont copay then months later u get a bill about lab fees then right after u get a notice from credit collection agency do not do services with this place go elsewhere fraudsters

2022-06-15Such a great experience . Front desk very friendly and offered soft drinks. I was seen by Thomas. Usually I get really nervous with males and having to show my body but this was definitely a no judgement zone . Really made me feel less self conscious and felt like he’s seen it all before . He knew exactly what prescription to give. Everything was quick and efficient ! AND HE GAVE ME SO MANY GOODIES !!!! I love samples ! God bless this man ! Ten out of ten recommend ladies … and fellas !!

2022-03-02AVOID at all costs. I dont even want to give them one star. I am not a person who leaves reviews, but I need people to know how appallingly bad this place is.TL; DR: They are the reason I wont be able to complete my course of Accutane. On top of that, many members of staff are unhelpful/dont seem knowledgeable. Both times Ive visited offices (Seaport + Greenwich Village) Ive experienced long wait times--an HOUR past my scheduled appt the first time. Offices are also oddly decorated and feel unprofessional. I cannot emphasize enough how terrible my experience has been.If you want the full story (buckle up):I came to Derm Specs to continue a course of Accutane that I had started under the care of another doctor. Accutane is highly controlled, and all patients/prescribing doctors are registered in a system called iPledge. Before my first visit, I requested to switch my treatment plan to my Derm Spec doctor (Dr. Began) through the iPledge website. When I arrive, (after waiting an HOUR past my scheduled appointment time) I find out that Dr. Began doesn’t have access to her iPledge account due to a system overhaul that happened about a month ago (at the time). It turns out, I can’t change the doctor I’ve requested, so I’m stuck without a prescriber until Dr. Began can access her account. Trying to figure this out took at least THREE phone calls with her team, and during each call the person on the phone asked “are you sure there isn’t a button there where you can switch to a different prescriber?”. I had to tell the same person MULTIPLE times that no, there wasn’t a button. She even tried to tell me that other patients had been able to switch their requests, when clearly it wasn’t possible. Dr. Began continued to be locked out of her account.Without a prescriber, my required monthly test results couldn’t get uploaded to my iPledge account. So my account rolled over from “active” to “post-treatment” due to the fact that no test results were uploaded. Now that I’m considered post-treatment, if I wanted to get more Accutane prescribed to me, I’d have to completely start the process over again, which involves taking two pregnancy tests a MONTH apart before any medication is prescribed.I later found out (after hours of time spent on hold with iPledge customer service) that my account rolled over on Jan 21st. The date of my visit to Derm Specs? Jan 14th.So Dr. Began and her team had approximately a month and half to regain access to her account post-system overhaul, but despite that, they couldn’t make it happen, and as a result, I won’t be able to get the rest of the prescriptions I need without taking a month long, or possibly longer, gap in my treatment. And the kicker? I WAS THE ONE WHO GOT DR. BEGAN BACK INTO HER ACCOUNT! On one of my many calls to iPledge to try and plead my case and revert my account to active status, I solved the problem with the customer service rep I spoke to. Dr. Began and her team claimed that they couldn’t spare anyone to wait on hold with iPledge because it would take “multiple hours”, but it took me a total of 1.5 hours to solve the problem.I dont even have enough characters left to fully describe my second visit (which was my last chance at *maybe* getting a prescription before I completely ran out of medication) but essentially, the doctor was so late that I had to leave for work and never even got to see her.I have done everything in my power (and more) to try to make things work, and Derm Specs let me down at every. single. turn.Unless Derm Specs is your only option, I urge you to NEVER go here.

2022-08-03Love these guys. On time. Gave me the attention and answers I needed and I was on my way. Great office too! 🙏🙏
