The Discovery Center is hands down one of the most interesting and unique places I have visited, whether in the US or abroad. There are a variety of activities for children and its easy to socialize with other adults as well. This place has great reviews, and for great reasons! Check it out, bring your kids, you will all quickly fall for its charm! A++
This is the absolute best place for young kids! Our daughter loves the interactive childrens museum, the preschool, the after-school care (shes been going for a couple of years), the teachers, the outdoor story garden, everything! We always have a great time and have enjoyed a handful of special events here as well! I cant say enough good things about The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier or the people who work there!
This place is awesome. My 18 month old had a blast, but she is probably at the youngest age who would enjoy this experience. Older kids would love it even more. Only down side is that all people in your party have to pay admission. Can get pricey. For example, $7 each for my daughter, wife and myself. $21 total for a kiddo to play.
Some of the stuff feels a little dated and my kids didnt really connect with those parts, but overall they had a blast and didnt want to leave. I wasnt sure what exactly to expect, but its more like a bunch of areas setup with a specific theme that they can interact with (eg grocery store, dentist, diner, bank, etc) and not so much a hands-on science museum, which I thought it might be. Theres also a lot of areas setup for education about various topics. Overall a great place, especially for toddlers to mid grade school aged kids.
Took my 17 month old. For 7 dollars it was worth it. Theres no time limit, lots of fun things for kids to do. They can use their imagination and be whatever they want to be a dentist a store clerk a weatherman. They have a music room with instruments they can color. They also have a zoo which wasnt open when we went. But I do plan on making another trip. The zoo opens in April so we will definitely be going again soon.
Disappointing, I remember how incredible it was a few years back and they have changed a lot lately. Iam frequently there for work. Electronic stuff that usually is in working condition, has not been recently. Changed a whole room to just coloring, I could do that for free at home, dont need to pay $8 to do that. Lots of parts have just changed to puzzels and reading, not as interactive as in the past. All on top of the fact they have upped the prices. The kids I work with are upset about the changes.
Ill keep this as simple as possible. I saw no staff in the play area, and if they were there I didnt notice. I personally watch my child unlike most of the parents that were there, so that didnt bother me. I wont get into the people...its not the establishment fault how parents bring up their children, but I would pick a place a little more outside the city next time. A lot of the exhibits were a touch weird or nothing a child or anyone for that matter would enjoy. Lets take the non working (understandably) painted elevator...why. Thankfully it was cheap and we dont need to go back.
The Discovery Center is a place for a great family outing, with lots of interactive activities for kids of all ages. They have rotating exhibits to keep things fresh. Without the annual membership (if you can justify it) the Discovery Center can be a bit expensive. But several solid hours of entertainment can be had by all in a single visit, making it a day-long destination.

2018-08-13This place is a very well maintained, clean, and entertaining place for younger kids. We brought a 2 year old, and she was able to enjoy nearly everything, but the place is geared for slightly older kids (3+, perhaps). It is also surprisingly cheap. 4 adults and 1 kid cost $35.00The exterior area is done in a whimsical fashion. All in all, this is a must do if you have young kids!

2018-08-07Went here for a class trip. Very interesting. The whole Center is set up, with every section you can imagine as far as playing pretend, including a veterinarian Center, a grocery store (where they can push around shopping carts and pretend purchase their food items) bank, dentist, doctor, they can sit in a real life fire truck, and the back of an ambulance, they can visit and have an experience of a real life baseball stadium. . They have many many many hours that could fill your child needs, it does get quite crowded as the place is smaller, we had three kindergarten classes in there and that was just okay. But if theres that many kids in there on any Saturday all having parents or Guardians with them it would just be too crowded. They also have a nice outdoor Garden area which the kids can water their vegetables outside among with creative storytelling as you walk along the path.

2019-02-03Great visit. I highly recommend this place. !! My Grandkids love this place. Always an adventure .. from the hot air balloons and airplanes. To the fire truck. To the acting stage to the pirates ship and the grocery store .. we loved the underground tunnels and all of the adventures to be had at the Discovery center . They have made many improvements over the years . I must say. . cant wait to take them back again when we have more time .. thanks so much for providing a place for learning , fun, and development . A much needed asset to the community .

2018-05-10My favorite place to watch my kids play. At 4 and 11 they both still love it here. $28.00 for a family of four. A relatively well priced gift shop. A real ambulance and fire truck. Every dress up option they could imagine. A hot air Balloon. A bee hive. A grocery store full of kids sized shopping carts, a huge variety of fake food and empty boxed food. A self made puppet show theater. A tree house. My children love to go inside the bubble and play in the stream. We go pretty often and always have a ton of fun.

2017-07-01My two oldest are 3 and 4.5 and just love it here. They love that they have the freedom to play and use their imaginations. My girls especially love the ambulance and the tree house with the live bird in it!

2018-07-17A great garden for kids to explore outside. Museum inside is small but has lots of different areas to check out and admission is modest. A worthwhile visit.

2018-09-07This place continues to be top notch even after all these years. Great for kids to explore, learn, and run their crazies out. If youve never been before, think of a giant place with all kinds of pretend play. From a mini grocery store, to a bank, to a restaurant, an old fire engine (that my grandfather used to drive), and countless other activities. There are even quiet areas tucked away for children who need sensory breaks. During holidays they like to decorate accordingly and do a great job. Prices are very reasonable and well worth it (they even have grandparent memberships so they can take their grandchildren). While there (if the weather is decent), check out the storybook garden. Its a free play area with gardens, books to read, and fun stuff for kids to explore. There is even a pavilion area if you wanted to bring a lunch or snack. If you have never been here, go! Dont just think about it, GO! You wont be disappointed

2018-04-25I just visited this place for the first time ever with my 3 children. They are 3,5 and 12 respectively and they were all entertained here!!!! My 3 and 5 yr. Olds liked dressing up as firefighters, pretending to shop and played at the water tables, while my 12 yr. Old took a liking to the flight simulator, the microscope station and reading interesting facts posted throughout the museum. It is cheap and a great place to visit on a rainy day, or on a nice day during the summer as they have an interactive garden outside!!!!!I will be going back again!!!

2018-05-14The discovery center is fun for kids of all ages. Theres a lot of rooms to play in. It really lets kids use there imagination. It can get pretty crowded sometimes and kids get a little rambunctious, but thats to be expected at any kid place. Theres a cute little play area outside with little houses. My girls love it there! Overall, great place for kids!
