This place is a discriminating place. I have a government issued photo id that’s not a driver license or a state id and the guy at door turned me away, wouldn’t let me in unless I show him my passport. Like who brings their passport to a club?? I got turned away because of the type of ID I had, which is discriminating. Every other placeI’ve been to accepted my ID because it scans correctly. We don’t need this in nyc.
Unfriendly security staff at the entrance. Feels like a factory and not a good bar/club.Ive been to many clubs in nyc and some fancier than this. The staff were much more respectful.Answer: Having been to this place for my friends birthday, and seeing how you treat your customers, Id say its the basket that is rotten and not necessarily the apples 😉
This wonderful establishment that has 3 floors of energizing music for everyone to do their typical 2 steps or act like that cool person who you would find on SoulTrain or purchase one of DL drinks and smooth talk that special person. Whatever you desire, you will have fun at this rooftop place. The place has a tropical look, so I am guessing it suppose to represent that summertime feel; it worked because I didnt realize it was drizzling outside. I know this place must be a wonderful place to visit during summer 2014, so I know I will be back soon.Today was a day for unexpected rain, but it is okay because Yelper knows how to party and represent a company the right way. Let dig deeper and explore this spot out. The staff is fantastic and makes awesome drinks that hard to refuse to get one more. What did they put in the drink? Man, I just dont know. If you are a smoker and you want to hang outside to smoke a Newport, I strongly recommend you to visit the 3rd floor where to enjoy the life of the party. IF you need that smoke break, there is a section for smokers too.The food tastes great and that I will not big up everywhere because no one can beat my mothers cooking. I took a bite into the mini cheeseburger, and boom, two hands already want to grab more. The spring rolls are wonderful too that I needed to know if I am in a Thai restaurant and not at a party. Checking, checking... Nope, it is the DL spot! One more drink please, I love this place. The staff are quite helpful and look to answer any questions you may have. So do not get shy now, because if you are, go grab another drink and come back once you see rainbow-colored flowers. We trying to get twisted, sing Bob Marley songs, and yelp! How would I rate this place:I would rate this place 10/10 base on todays event. They dont have a cover charge, which can be better than that! We are jamming!
This place takes fake IDs if you are underage and then bargains for you to get them back. My friends IDs we’re all taken and the bouncer said he would return them for $300. Sick. The police need to get involved and stop this immoral and greedy behavior. Taking the ids is not the problem, the problem is the disgusting bouncers asking 19 year olds to pay them $100 dollars each.
I reserved a party of 10, 4 days prior to the day of my Birthday. I spoke to one of the two people that reserve for parties that large. Once I called, the gentleman had a rude attitude but I can understand that maybe he was having a rough day. I stated to him that pusld states that you can bring as many vouchers as you want for larger groups.Well, when I called the DL, they stated the complete opposite. The gentleman was very rude to me as I was simply stating that its false advertising. He told me my only offer was a pre-fix meal for my group of 10, which was still a really great price, but it had nothing to do with the pusld voucher. Im sure they use this to suck in people and its false advertising because they are not in agreement with the terms on pusld.Im normally not a voucher person myself, but it was convenient considering the entire day I had planned for everyone. I dine at some of the best restaurants in NYC, and I never spend under $100.00 for my plate personally. I appreciate fine dinning... which brings me to the next situation this guy presented me with.......I received an email of the dress code, not once but 2 times and the second was in bold red letters. I was shocked in receiving this, I wouldnt consider this a classy restaurant, just a bit trendy for younger kids. Also, Ive never owned construction boots in my life, nor have I hung with people that wear caps, white tees, and etc. Its just not my taste in clothing nor my friends...however I was truly offended and stunned. Sending the email once was no problem, but the second time in red bold letters was unacceptable to me. I didnt say anything because Im not that type of woman. I wanted my day to go well without any problems. It was well until my food came out...lol. I ordered a medium duck, I received a well done duck. Again I dine in fine restaurants this was just a convenient location; so I know what a medium duck should look, cut and taste like. I stated that my duck was well done, and I even apologized. Im sorry I asked for medium, the young lady just stood there in front of me. I then proceeded to say that I would, but Ive never eaten a well done duck as she still proceed to hold the plate in front of me. Eventually I just said to her is there anyway I can get the correct order of a medium duck.At this time, Im the birthday girl and everyone is eating enjoying their meals. The young lady still holding the plate suggested it would take another half a hour to fire up another duck. I said to her that is no problem I can wait. She left with the well done duck. Less than 15 min later a gentleman comes out of the kitchen with a duck ..he yelled medium duck, I was excited my food was finally here! I saw the cut on the duck in the middle, the meat was white, I attempted to cut the duck.. it was so tough, cold, flaky, dry and white all the way through. The guy quickly ran off, I quickly realized it was the same duck. I waited 10 more minutes for someone to come around to our table and explained/showed to the young lady how it was impossible to eat. Im sorry, the duck is well done, not medium.....please help me!At this time everyone was done eating, waiting for me the birthday girl to receive her food. Finally, a duck appeared 20 minutes later, and it was medium! I cut it, and it was like butter, the smell was great, the skin coating was hot and crisp.......drumroll to the pink in the middle. The taste, sweet like any duck should be....I wasnt sure if they did anything else to it...hint hint...but I just prayed.Overall I am not a mean person and Im a great trooper, I simply wanted a good experience and this was eehhh. The greatest part were my friends! Will I ever dine in DL again, no.
The food was great, in regards to drinks only had rum punch it was good. Other than that issues I had was: coed bathroom, menu not what was advertised, brunch didnt start on time, they seemed confused during check in process, had to walk up to many stairs to get to roof (no elevator access) and on the promotion says birthday person free bottle of champagne and when we get there they said its for group of 10! Not cool. But its a nice spot.
Cool place with multiple floors, great bars, music, dancing, and an outside roof patio. Very pricey though. If you didnt have tickets (never explained how to get them), then you could do a bar tab to get in. The guy said $50 per person, so $200 for our group. He then added it would be 8 drinks. Based on the convo it came as a surprise that it was only 8 drinks for all of us and not per person (we assumed bottom shelf). This place was nice, but $50 to get in with only 2 drinks is not worth it. We are in the age of post Covid, covers should be disappearing, not multiplying. I had more fun dancing outside the bar on the sidewalk with girls than inside on the crowded dance floor. Does DL stand for Disappointing Lounge?
Definitely cool vibes. Definitely for the younger crowd, but if you are older and you just want to chill and listen to some vibes they have free seating downstairs with a bar you can enjoy. If you want to party then pay the cover and go on up and have a good time. The hostess downstairs where you pay was not the friendliest, but everyone has their days, maybe the day we went just wasnt hers.
The absolute worst service I have ever had. We reserved a table for 20 people, and it took one hour for the bottle service to arrive. The entire staff was consistently aggressive and rude. They would not let one member of our group in because they rejected his real ID and refused to recheck it. They also threatened to kick us out for asking them to recheck it (one time…so pleasant) Would recommend any other bar in NY to spend your money at.
This is probably one of the worst places I’ve ever gone. I bought tickets for an event and upon arriving to the venue, a large crowd of frat kids began cutting everyone in the line and it was apparently tolerated because they paid for tables. Everyone that had been there prior had to wait in line for 45 minutes while these obnoxious kids were prioritized. The vibe was basically equivalent to a giant frat party with 90% of the crowd being men and the people that worked there were rude. If you’re a person of color, don’t even bother going here unless you book a table and have a large amount of guests coming with you, because I promise you’ll feel uncomfortable otherwise. I’ve never gone to a worse place in LES on a Friday night. Not worth the money even in the slightest.
The DL is an easy skip. If you are thinking of going here or a friend suggests it, surely you can do better. It is over-priced and crowded. The music was somehow surprisingly bad and not mainstream. That being said, the service was surprisingly good and the drinks surprisingly decent (which is to say still not worth the cost). The wait alone makes this a reconsider option. For a place that specifically advertises its spectacular view of the city skyline, it is shockingly hard to see anything through the building, décor, and dense crowds.
First thing is the hour of operation is wrong. It stated they were open to 4am not that they close at 9pm and reopen at 11pm. We got tickets online just to arrive to wait for an hour. The dress code stated to dress up but we waiting in line for hours in heels. Then the second level Dj played soco, reggae all night. The third level Dj music was ok but there is no sitting room at all. If you here visiting then I recommend going somewhere else
No covid precautions. Food was horrible. I got 3 mini sliders on Hawaiian buns and less fries than you get from $1 fries at McDonald’s. I paid $45 + tax for brunch at the door and $5 reservation online and they had no where for us to sit. We got set up on wooden tables 😕 Great party scene drinks were good.
I was having a great experience for the fourth of july event i paid tickets for. Long wait but seemed worth it. About an hour in I wanted to step outside & saw many people leave and come back in. We asked two bouncers if we left, would we be able to enter again and they said of course. Left for not even 10 minutes and suddenly a male bouncer isn’t letting me in because of my yeezy sandals, calling them “house shoes”, which i find discriminatory considering i saw many sandals more flat than mine. Then it goes from my shoes being a problem to all of a sudden there’s no re-entry. I will never come here again and had way more fun next door at the oyster bar.
Omg where do I start. Absolutely one of the dirtiest, most ratchet place I’ve ever been, I was there for 2 hours and saw 4 different girls throw up directly on the floor, and no one come to clean it, everyone was just stepping in it and tracking it around. The second floor was so packed, there was no air flow and the whole floor smelled like body odor. The top floor was also so packed you couldn’t move and were constantly being pushed. The whole demo of this place is 21 year olds who are just trying to get as drunk and sloppy as possible. I would never go back here even if you paid me. A total waste of a night.
So this was a horrible experience. The hostess and manager were telling us to leave before we even got in. they did not care. They were offering refunds before trying to even offer the services promised. We paid for a 2 hour open bar thats was offered from 6-10 pm and then they told us oh no it only goes till 8:30 and NO ONE was wearing their masks and therewas definitely not 6 ft between tables. People were all over us without masks and when we approached the front desk she dismissed us saying it was a brunch and we were being ridiculous not letting her talk. Overall a horrible experience we left as soon as we could. DO NOT COME HERE!
Terrible staff. Power hungry males who do the most all for 15 dollars an hour. I would’ve put negative 8 stars if that was an option.Save your money kings and queen and go somewhere else. There’s this really cool spot across the street from the DL that I highly recommend.
Terrible service. The waitress was not attentive. We were to be seated at 3. We were seated close to 3:30. We got in and did not receive our food orders until the last 30 mins of our 2 hour reservation. Then they had the AUDACITY TO OPEN THE SUNROOF on a 40 degree day. The wind was blowing and we were FREEZING. I asked to speak to manager and no manager came to our table. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend.
The place is gorgeous to look at.......once youre inside. If you are a cognac sipper this is NOT the place for you. They have tons of whiskey and if that is your thing then you will be pleased. No mint leaves so they dont make mojitos. The bartender was kind of boring and what he suggested once I told him what I liked was not appealing. At all. It was only 5 people in the spot and I felt like the bartender would much rather continue his conversation with two gorgeous women who were staff and a gentleman I assumed was the manager. The sweet potato fries were great and the wings were alright. But the real kicker was the bill. For 2 drinks, fries and wings the bartender gave us the wrong bill which was over $100.When they do something more with that bar and get a better bartender I may go back. But its highly unlikely.Tons of dope spots on the Lower East Side, for me this aint one of them.
Pretty shnazzy bar! I believe there are 4 floors.. definitely at least 3! The top floor has a rooftop that can open, weather permitting... So cool! Always clean too! The food on the ground level smells amazing too... bartenders always seem professional and friendly...overall I highly recommend this bar/venue for a slightly more upscale environment
Its a cool place to relax or party at depending on your mood. My night started on the first floor eith house music, no one dances there really, theres a bar and other tables to sit at. The second floor is definitely for lounging. You can either sit and enjoy the music or dance your life away. The rooftop is pretty cool but theres only one area to sit which is on the balcony area. This floor is much more club like. Very nice setting though. The service was wasnt bad at all; was serviced pretty quickly on every floor despite whether there was a crowd around the bar or not.
This was my second time visiting this venue, the first time I came here was for a silent party that had a free RSVP option. However, 3 hours after the party was slated to start, the headphones were not set up. Once the headphones were set up, they then informed patrons that to use the headphones was a few and the fee would increase within the next 20 mins and there were not that many individuals in attendance to the event. My second visit was much more fruitful and I was able to enjoy the venue. Its a wonderful rooftop once you get past all of the stairs that you have to climb.
I just love the vibe of the place. Every time I go it just so relaxing . They have a house drink call the DL its so fresh and refreshing. If you want to nibble order the steak and truffle fries. So yummy. It three levels they do parties and different events also. The host is cute and young and very warm. So when you go make sure to tip. Its well deserved.
The DL is an awesome place! I came here for a Valentines Day singles party hosted by NY Minute Dating and had the greatest time of my life. Its a rooftop bar with palm trees, a nice sized dance floor next to the DJ booth, and great/fast bartenders. The bar area was packed but I never had a problem getting my drinks quickly. That was a HUGE plus. Not sure what the regular crowd is like on weekends, as I am sure it depends who is promoting the event, but I had an awesome Valentines Day (which fell on Tuesday this year).
Great great space, my gosh, would be great to shoot TV or film in or hire for big events. I went to a private event on the top floor, which had a glass roof, it had kind of a roof top, club vibe. Drinks were good, bartenders friendly. BUT they do not accommodate food to be served on the top floor, yet food is served on the other two. DJ was cool too.
We only went here to party. Did not have any food. There are three levels of music. Of course the top level playing hip hop was the most crowded. Extremely hard to move around. Seems like a pretty upscale place though. The only reason I would not give it anymore stars is because they charge $14 for a premium mixed drink (Jack and Coke for example) in a tiny plastic glass. Really?!? That is insane.
This is a beautiful Club / bar. Would highly recommend going there the layout is very nice and there are spots which offer privacy. Theres also a small porch outside with a great overview of the Manhattan skyline. There are two small downsides. The first is that like to climb up a number of what are ways to get there. The second is the prices tend to be a bit absorbent even for Manhattan. however that being said it is still a very nice place to go.
Went for a day party on a Saturday on the rooftop. Nice spot with the levels but the floor on the rooftop feels like it will cave in at any point from the dancing. You can feel it wobbling below your feet. Its scary because it doesnt feel sturdy. My biggest problem with this place is the lack of visible security. During a dance party, I want to see security around making sure everyone is safe and having a good time. Another issue is that they let people smoke in there. No security around to notice or stop it. I hate second hand smoke and had to deal with it the whole time.
Pretty average bar atmosphere. It has 2 main floors and there is an open feel on the top floor since there are a lot of windows and even a small outdoor space (mostly for smokers). Still, there is nothing about this space that is trendy or fun and they pull all the tricks, like cranking up the music so you have to scream instead of talk making you need to drink more.
Went on a Friday night. Two floors to party. The drinks were good. Crowd is not extremely diverse. The second floor is more for Caribbean music. The top floor is more rap and pop. You just have to pick which floor you want to party on based on vibe and music. Coat check is not free fyi.
Used to be one of my go to spots for partying however the last time I went it was full of underage very drunk kids. A girl even fell down the stairs while another one throwing up in the corner.. the place is also overcrowded. I miss the old atmosphere when it was never packed and you were actually able to have a good time!
This place has multiple levels with different genres of music to please all guests. The crowd is always fun-seeking and the music is fantastic. I love the space and decor (lawn chairs and palm trees, couches, neon lights, fireplace on the big screen). Love coming here!
Oyster lovers, Two words. Happy. Hour. Cant go wrong with fresh, delicious, one dollar oysters and 6 dollar draft beers. Everyday the chef chooses which oyster will be used for happy hour. They were fresh and two different dipping sauces that came with them. I only gave four stars because the waiter forgot our waters and I was missing an oyster on my tray. Definitely will be back regardless.
Three floors for different music and vibes. Bottom floor was more poppy and alternative, middle floor played trap and southern rap, and the top floor played top 40 with a hip-hop leaning. The crowd was diverse, though the general area seemed to be full of people in their early 20s. Sections had mainly folks in their late 20s to mid-thirties. My crew got a section, and the waitresses were friendly and attentive. I cant wait to come back in the summer when they take the roof off! Ill definitely be back.
Worst place ever in NYC. I have never been kicked out of an establishment in my life. They put me outside in the cold and used very demanding tones of voices. I came here once and the service was awesome. Management must have changed. It was freezing cold that night. I promote nightclubs clubs and this service was never given to me.
This bar/club is overrated in my opinion. Its a place where people with reservations can show off bottled service for the birthday girl/boy. Definitely for a younger crowd that has a little extra money to blow.If you dont have a reservation, expect to wait in line just to see the place half empty. Out the 3 floors, the top is the mostly heavily populated which cause the floor to bulge on what seems to be poor floor supoort.Drinks are super overpriced, small and not that great. Wouldnt return unless I was invited for a party or for a music event.
There is fraudulent activity going on in that restaurant. And the manager is in on it. I was there and my card was used multiple times for drinks and food that I didn’t even purchase. When I called and explained this to the manager she called me a liar. I ask her to send me the receipts she did and the receipt signatures did not match. I told her to check her cameras she told me she would get back to me in a few days. she never did. I tried contacting her I was never able to get in touch with her.. now that I finally get in touch with her weeks she is telling me that the security tapes are no longer available.
Ventured here for a birthday last Saturday night. Being in the lower east side of the city, a lot of eating and drinking places surround this spot, nice area. When you go in I think its more of a bar/Lounge on the first floor. We rushed up to the third floor, this was the club floor (I guess). There was a bar in the middle and a pretty big space around. There is even a little Terrance (for smokers I was told). The coat check on this place is a little weird, like you def have to ask where it is, youll never find it on your own.10$ shots all night, I think I spent about 40$ and I got pretty messed up (lol). But overall it was a good vibe, I had fun, my friends had fun.I would recommend for a night out.
The place was nice upstairs and the bartenders were good. At the time we decided to leave after walking down the first set of steps and proceeding to the second set of steps, my friend and I literally fell down the steps together. I wasnt drunk had a few drinks and all that was done was that we were put in a room like drunks. No one cared if we were okay. I have bruises and have been hurting since. If you go there watch those steps.
The first floor is nice classy bar and table seating for the restaurant. The top floor is a partially covered rooftop (no views tho , its not at a level you can look down or over to get a view) that hosts parties often. I would be back for the 1st floor bar but the rooftop , no as its not able to give you any scenery .
I went on a carribean night and it was great. The did had the full packed house dancing. A lot of women which is always a plus for single ready to mingle guys. I would have gave a 5 but I couldnt bring in my 360 camera to take photos, but the manager was nice enough to explain to me that professional cameras were not allowed. She was polite and they let me in. I would sex suggest going to this multicolored restaurant slash dance club rooftop
This place is an embarrassment from the bouncers to the staff all the way up to the management. Not to mention the drinks are overly priced and VERY weak. The place is very dirty also and I actually saw a cockroach in the establishment. They pull people out of line that fit their standers while a lot of the people that represent their name are nothing to smile about. To say the least I would never ever again come here. Youre better off heading somewhere else. Dont give your money to this kind of establishment. If I could give it no stars I would.I mean just look at all the bad reviews not only on here but on YELP too. This place is a dump.
This offers a lot of different environments and vibes which makes it great for small and large groups. Small groups can easily navigate to different areas while large groups can split up per their preference. The bottom floor is an upscale bar. The second floor is a hip hop lounge complete with couches and disco ball. The third floor is a top 40 club with an outdoors Smokey balcony. Can get crowded at times with long drink or bathroom lines but music choice is solid and crowd is attractive. Get in before 11pmto avoid cover.
The place has 3 floors, the bottom is for dinning, you have a second room on the second floor that has some seats and pillows with candles and a bar. On the 3rd floor they have the rooftop really nice 2ways to get up to the 3rd floor. Music was good, only issue was when it got hot the stairs got very sweaty maybe it was my shoes but.i almost fell down the steps because it was slippery from sweat .
I went to the DM on my Birthday. The rooftop was so much fun, the amazing weather, drink specials, and music definitely helped bring the ultimate vibe out of this venue. Only complaint is the amount of stairs to get to the rooftop. Not a huge issue but if your like me forever in heels, be ready for what feels like walking up Runyon Canyon!
Door guard stands at the entrance and insults each guests Drivers License picture as they come in. Dont know if this is a litmus test to avoid letting in super intoxicated people, but were talking about a place that goes one by one calling women ugly or men pedophiles. Yes, really. The short fat balding man handling the licenses and unable to sense irony probably shouldnt be commenting but does. This ruined my evening before it even started with as part of a group that paid over $700(and still had to stand in a queue!) for some highly claustrophobic reserved seats on the top floor.Drinks are over priced. Top floor everyone was standing around like zombies instead of dancing.Incredibly negative experience -- dont understand the appeal. Would never go back to a place like this in a million years but know theres many young adults to tap money from and piss off before The DL goes out of business. Spend your money elsewhere.
This establishment is an absolute disgrace. How on earth are they still running a business I dont know lol. The bartenders feel like they are Gods and they will get you kicked out and mistreat you if you dont ask for your drinks in a super nice way. They pick fights with you and then call security to have you escorted out. Yes, I saw this happen. To top it off they are racist as ****. 3 shots , 3 drinks, 1 water bottle $160.00! This is not a place to have a good time! They mistreat you from the very beginning. Once you walk up to the place theres an ******* bouncer treating people like garbage. Once you get pass the bouncer your already feeling bad vibes. Then you have to deal with the bartenders ugh... seriously this place is not worth it.
Terrible staff and extremely rude. They tried to take my REAL ID away and telling me they would ship it back to me. They wouldn’t give my REAL ID back unless I showed them my passport and had to give them $20??? The place isn’t even nice enough to be acting like that.
If you want to enjoy dinner, lounge and club all within the same building then this three tier all in one is the place to go. I would definitely take advantage of checking out the lounge and the club above if you going to dine here given you can cut through the line without waiting. Crowd is a mix bag though, so if youre aiming for one demographic then you should try other places. Food is average at floor level and dont expect much for drink on the higher floor since you have to fight your way though to the bartender.
I came here for an event and it was at the rooftop bar with great views. There was an outdoor area to hangout at. This was during the winter time, so the roof was not actually open, but definitely interesting to know. The music was very loud, so you might lose your voice if youre trying to have a conversation. But aside from that, I would love to come again for future events perhaps in warmer weather to see how it is!
Just threw a surprise party for my friend here last night and I paid in advance so that all my guests would have access to our table before my arrival, as I was coming last with the birthday guest and not everyone knew each other. As my guests were checking in, the hostess just kept telling them to go upstairs, never sent them to our space. Then when I got there, they claimed none of my guests checked in and gave me a huge attitude about it. Meanwhile, on my way there I was trying to contact the promoter that had helped me arrange everything and she was unresponsive, but turns out she was there the whole time. Some time into the evening, I had to go and tell the hostess that I had guests waiting to come inside and she put her hand in my face and went outside to get them, and my friends said she was extremely rude and did not even acknowledge them the first few times they tried to get her attention. Overall, the atmosphere was cool and we made the most of it, but all of my guests were really unhappy with the staff and I definitely did not feel like a paying customer. Very rude and unprofessional, I will never go back here.
Cool venue, we went for a live art installation and the event itself was really interesting and fun, reasonably priced alcohol and good music too.The issue that I had was the annoying barmen, (on the top rooftop floor). Both of them were cold and short with us, and when my girlfriend ordered a non-alcoholic drink, one of them called her choice of drink boring and advised she have a beer.Hey, shut up. Youre a barman, youre paid to pour my drink, not make dumb comments nobody wants to hear.Sort the customer service, keep the cool events and youve got yourself a winner. Not all the staff were this unpleasant, bouncer was very friendly - a rare attribute to find in most doormen.
This multi-level bar/lounge has a little bit for everyone. Whether you like dancing to music being spun by DJs, relaxing and chatting away in comfortable lounge seating, or just enjoying a classic bar, you will find it here. The middle floor often turns into an event space as well, but is sometimes used as coat check.
Decent club. They pay attention to M/F ratio so dont show up with 4 poor ugly dudes or bring some girls. I visited in the winter and they had a coat check-in that cost $4 cash only. I didnt see the uppermost part but heard good things. Rail drinks were $12 but its Manhattan... Whatd you expect?
$24 for a double of crown royal!Went to an event that was held in the venue. Place was nice and clean, but eventgoers were yelled at once or twice over the night by the store manager, without clear purpose. Turns out, they double booked the space that night and because of their error, we were moved to a lower floor. A couple of our party goers stepped out the door (ciggerates, phone calls, whatever) and they were denied re-entry because of some dress code we we never told about!I was impressed with the space bit the service made me not want to go back.
This rooftop lounge is a fun spot to go after work or late nights on a weekend. Great ambiance with their renovated space. The huge bar in the center leaves lots of open space to dance and hang out with your friends. They also serve yummy apps till 9 such as Truffled Mac and Cheese and Veggie Spring Rolls!
The place is really nice, 3 floors, plenty of space where to hang out and dance +outdoor space....2 negatives. ONLY ONE BATHROOM. If anyone needs to go more than once you will spend more than half your time in the bathroom line lol. 2nd negative unnecessarily waaaaay overpriced drinks. I get its in the city, but drinks are more expensive than probably 90% of places in the city. Otherwise a good spot with a nice crowd.
I went to DL (Dinner on Ludlow) for my birthday and the place is pretty nice. The lights are very dim and they cater to a more hip crowd. I had the truffle mac n cheese and the steak frites, both were pretty good. What made my night were the drinks, they were very well mixed and strong but not too strong. I did not get a chance to check out the lounge on top of the restaurant but I will go back to see what it is all about.
I was not allowed to enter due to the brand of boots I was wearing (timberland). It was below 30 degrees out and getting ready to snow!! My girl and I was visiting from Florida and ready to spend good money at this place! To top it off I spoke with the “manager” who was very unpleasant and quickly profiled me as low class individual. I’d even go as far as saying a hint of prejudice.Spend your money elsewhere.
I dont know why DL gets no reviews here but it deserves more to be rocking hip hop music on a Saturday night with plenty of dance floor for FREE! I mean, if you go to Meatpacking District, you have to pay big bucks only so you can dance with Euro trashes and B&T crowd. So why not just come here and hang for free while celeb spotting some former NBA players?! I am not kidding.Anyway, I think it is a cool spot and plenty of room to move around. Drinks are not cheap but that is New York. I would come back again.
Expensive, crowded place. I came for a business mixer and was packed right away at the roof top. The roof top is not in open air and was packed like sardines. The drinks were very expensive for the area and the wait staff was not any friendlier for it. Overall I had sweaty experience and would not return.
Im a transgender person who is currently transitioning. The bouncer and also the manager would not let me in with shorts, but let women in who were wearing shorts. I went out and bought $10 Long Johns to get in and was successful! Once inside, the bar was ok. The DJs were trash but the bar was nice. I would give more than 1 star if they were more receptive to transgender people like myself.
Wasnt really impressed with DL. The particular evening I attended the air conditioning wasnt on, and the drinks were a little too pricey for a place that wasnt specialized in making signature cocktails. However, the place is stunning, beautiful atmosphere with a pool on the top floor...very cool.
The upstairs rooms for the club are very small and tightly packed. The rooftop was ridiculously packed...like sardines. We got in because there were no women in the place and they pulled us from the back of the line to go in. First time there, but I wont be going back.
DL is my go to spot for Thursday nights. Great DJs. Solid crowd. It doesnt get too crowded and doesnt have the entrance hassle of other club/lounges. It had a retractable roof so it should be a fun spot for the summer. For smokers, theres a large smoking patio just adjacent to the dance floor.
Another great decision by New York Cares to host the Safari Party. I really enjoy the atmosphere it provides. Nice music, real classy environment and very good food. The beer and wine are awesome as well. The environment itself is lounge style as in it has comfy chairs and tables with a nice candle touch to them. There were several bartenders that are cool. However, Jafor was the bartending star tonight and he was very kind and helpful. He even gave me some water to combat the alcohol inside since I overdid it a little bit. I would definitely come again if I have the time and the DL is one of those places that you must stop by after a long day of work or play. Soooooo worth coming here.
Paid extra for VIP rooftop area but it was packed with people from General admission for New Years Eve. No point in paying extra. There was no filter of tickets and because of that it was near impossible to sift through the crowd to get to the bar and get drinks. Terrible organization that killed the NYE experience.
The experience was good, i had a Meet and Greet there and the place was great. Had to go out about 11pm to help one of my members down being that he was in a wheelchair.... tried to get back in and they gave me a mayor problem my jacket an personal belongings was up on the roof top floor. They send me to the end of the line why?Dont know ....They were letting certain people in and not even from the line that they had made me go to. And there were color people as well latinos they did not let us in..So on that there regulations Sucked.. They need to change them... the security Hernandez was cool but there was a lady and a guy managing that was completely ridiculous. As a security person myself working for a huge entertainment promotion company Ive never seen door rules this ridiculous.I had like 40 people upstairs and we all after that incident...Victor
I went here once for a friends birthday and have no intention of returning. It seems people come here just for appearance and not because its actually somewhere you would actually have fun at. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced, and thats in comparison to other Manhattan bars. Really, $15 for a Jameson & ginger ale with mostly ice? No thanks. Also the people that come here are jerks. At least 3 of my buddies almost got into 3 different fights purely because of other people trying to start issues with them. Youd think people would be going out at night to have fun, not to fight.
It is possible this will be a low rating because of how it was set up and I was expecting more from the event coordinators... however this was an OKAY lounge. Came here for the closing party for Internet Week and sat downstairs at the bar for a little while waiting for new friends to come and also having a burger and fries. (Burger was okay. Fries were pretty good). Then, those 11,000 flights of stairs are ridic and I dont even want to imagine how many girls have broken their ankles stumbling down at the end of the night. Made it upstairs and the place was nice. I like the faux tropical vibe and I can imagine it would be pretty nice at night. Music kind of sucked though. It was a weird electro thing which Im not really sure I was drunk enough to appreciate. Not sure if that was their regular DJ or just someone for the event. Overall I wasnt that impressed.
The bouncer sucked !!! He didnt let me go in because he thought I was drunk? But i was just skipping down the street happy because we got to DL and we got to the door dressed all nicely and what no... No you guys cant go it because yall drunk? What ?!? Who is he to tell me that Im drunk when I havent even had a beer all night ! I assume the place is nice but the bouncer really sucked and a total jerk
I give it 3 stars because the place was sooo packed on the top floor (saturday night) that there was not much room to dance. I have never paid 14 for a shot of anything anywhere, but here it was $14 for a shot or a watered down nasty drink...csnt forget there is a 2 drink/shot minimum to use a debit card . The second floor was much better once it opened up and we got a chance to really dance...it was a large group of us and we basically took up half of the second floor. The second floor didnt stay open long to everyone, before the bouncers came in flashing lights instructing people to go up stairs. Besides that this place is nicely decorated and feels more like a club than a lounge. P.s guys if you want to get in without standing outside too long...hook up with a group of women. ( saturday review from 12a ish to closing )
Security allowed a group of homophobes to attack a gay man at an event held last night. Security guard held him back and cuffed him for trying to defend himself against five men, including the event organizer, and their girlfriends. Does The DL condone homophobic violence? Seems like it loves it.
First, I really like the ambiance of the DL. I was thinking of having an event there myself, however just so happens BLCK CAVIER, had an amazing venue here. There are three levels I believe the top floor being the best; it looked like a beautifully landscaped lanai, to say the least. The VIP sections are right size, so if your thinking about renting spac, put this on your list of places to check out! The second level is a little more intimate. Smaller, cute. The bottom. Level (main) is laid out pretty well for a more fluid like space. Bartenders were also friendly and on it.
Went here for the first time as part of the CMJ music festival and was shocked I hadnt been here before!A great place...3 floors, plenty of room to move around, each one with its own vibe.First floor is a little more open, usually with the windows/doors open during nice weather. Second floor ceilings are a little lower and a smaller space for more intimate experience, and the top floor is the best, with huge arching glass ceilings, palm trees and a fountain/pool in the middle (which seems like its a disaster waiting to happen with the bar just a few feet away, but makes for a good story if you happen to be the one to fall into it).I will ABSOLUTELY come here again.
We usually have a good time here but the last few times this year it has been so overcrowded in there. Hoping theyre finding a way to solve it - you can barely move at times. Music has been subpar too - used to be one of main spots for the music. I havent been since September so they may have made some changes since then.
Very bad experience. We were there last friday. We opened the tab. In the middle, we got kicked out harshly. We did not know what is going on. The manager even bring few security guards. She said someone reserved the table and we must go right now. The guards pulled our friends and screamed at us. This is not right. We reported the manager in front door. She wanted to buy us a drink, but my friends were disagree because we were very upset. Again, we were very disappointing. We spent almost 150 bucks for unhappy moment. Even they charged service charge. We work in hospitality businesses, we own few restaurants and bars. So we clearly know what is right and wrong. DO NOT COME TO HERE.
A friend of mines ate there 02/17/2019 and had the salmon. He got sick after and was good poisoned. The dish was already expensive and to get sick after is unacceptable. They served bad Salmon and didnt bother to check the fish for expired date and/or temperature before cooking. Im warning you too ask the chef to check the food before cooking it or just avoid eating there until the health inspection is updated.
This place has literally the worst service I have ever encountered. Every member of my party was met with snark and audible sighs when ordering drinks. I ordered a drink that the bartender audibly told me would be $7, then charged $14 on the receipt. When I called him out on it he said the drink was always $14. I asked why he told me it was $7 and he began berating me and saying that he never said that....called manager to discuss and was met with further rudeness and unprofessionalism. Ive been to countless bars across three continents and this one is truthfully the worst Ive ever been to.
Dont come here if youre a minority and dont personally know the bouncer. He refused to let 3 cute girls in but let in tons of people after us who greased his palm or knew him. The bouncer was very rude and made us stand out in the rain for over 10 minutes while trying to flag down a taxi.
I left my card tab open, and had to leave the bar take a phone call. When I went to the bouncer to let the, know my situation, they wouldnt let me in to get my card. They said too bad, come back another time. They were completely rude and not at all understanding. Also, the music wasnt very good either.
Horrible!! The ground managers outside are selective with who they pick from the line to go in when other in front of those who they pick are waiting on line to enter from 1-2 hours with out being allowed entrance. This was even with a booked guest list for a promoter Peter. I dont recommend this bar to anyone horrible service they treat people like gum on the concrete. Beware this is not worth the stress of waiting for a line that your never going to get in. Dont set yourself up.
Cons outweigh the pros of this place. They have a cool three level place with different atmospheres on each level. The first floor is chill, second is hiphop/rap, third is a roof with top40 DJ. They manage to attract a young party going crowd. That doesnt excuse them from acting like douches at the door though. Their first major problem is they want to charge bar tab minimums at the door. Even for a single dude showing up to meet friends already inside. I can understand a group showing up with more dudes than girls but a single dude or guy with a bunch of girls is ridic to charge a minimum. To be honest, Id probably spend more than the minimum on my own but when they inflict the minimum, I spend just that and close my tab. The second issue is they tack on a service charge without telling you and wont remove it which is against the law. I tip very well but when you force me to tip, I want to give you nothing. Lastly which is probably directly related to the second point is they no longer accept American Express due to so many chargebacks. Gee I wonder why people are charging back? Because you are breaking the law and forcing a minimum tip. They will be lucky to remain in business in the long term. If they were nicer at the door, more professional, and didnt force a minimum bar tab in every situation they would establish a customer base that wants to return and keep them in business. Sure they may make bank in the short term but poor business skills will outweigh their long-term potential!
RACIST staff that will disrespect you for being of a certain race/color. The bouncers are too focused on attracting a certain clientele that they dont appreciate their customers that dont fit the profile. We witnessed a group of Indian people get pepper sprayed out of the club for no reason. I will never support this establishment again.
Do Not Support This Place With Your $. I was manhandled by a male bathroom attendant and the management did not take any action when I reported the incident.I was at the DL last night as part of an event from my business school. The entire place was booked out for us. At around 1 am, I went to use the bathroom on the top floor, which was a coed bathroom with a male bathroom attendant. I washed my hands and grabbed a piece of candy from a tray lying next to the wash basin. The attendant shouted at me to leave a tip, but I didnt have the appropriate cash on me. As I walked out the door, the attendant literally ran after me and grabbed my arms and twisted me around to snatch the candy from me. To be manhandled about a measly piece of candy is not something I have experienced in my life before. To make matters worse, I went down to the management to report the incident. The manager made me wait for ten minutes to check the video, after which he came back, didnt say anything about the videos, but told me that the candy was for sale. When I asked him why there wasnt any for sale sign, he told me it didnt say it wasnt for sale either?! At this point, I left the place in tears. This place and its management is severely messed up.
Some nights are great when the bar isnt overcrowded like Thursdays (they close way too early though 11pm) but most fridays and saturdays there is barely any room to even walk around. It becomes an ultimate jungle that you must plow through with elbows and side turns which I guess how any bar/lounge in NYC is on a saturday night.
We dont make it to C-town for dim sum, ever. Traveling from Queens to deal with traffic, parking issues- its not worth the headache. We made a special trip because my Gu-po lives in the area. Now, dont be alarmed with the 3 stars. Im not saying this place produces some dim sum culinary masterpieces, because it does not. Food is 2.5 stars. Standard dim sum fare. Nothing out there, nothing special. Everything was seasoned decently... but the push carts were kind of few and far between. We went to the back corner where they had stuff you can pick and order, put on a tray and bring it back to your table. Service was fine. Typical dim sum service, refilled hot water, cleared the empty plates, and gave us new plates when we ordered a noodle dish.So why you ask, for the extra half star? Well, being from Queens, though dim sum places are aplenty, there is always the heinous wait at the front of the crowded podium and gusts of cold air from people trying to get in and out. We did not have to wait, even on a Sunday (I think it was a Sunday...). Now that is magic for dim sum, no wait on a Sunday around noon.
Do not come here unless you feel like being yelled at during coat check. Pretty sure Ive never left a review for fewer than five stars, and this is the second time Ive had a very bad experience here. Great atmosphere, but Im not sure its worth the harassment you go through to drop your coat off.
Spent almost two hours trying to get our COAT back.No organization. No point to VIP, paid extra and there was no benefit. They weren’t even checking for it. Paid a TON of money only to be cursed at while waiting for my coat.Never coming here again, it was a nightmare.
After getting all excited to celebrate a big birthday for my sister we get turned away. My female cousin had rips and wholesale all over her jeans while my husband didnt have not one rip but on his pocket was a rugged tear about anot inch long and we werent allowed in. Bouncers were rude about it. Honestly I usually always say men and women are treated different but this was so disrespectful. I have the picture to prove how ridiculous the comparison of jeans were. Wish I could post here.
If youre a knowledgeable enthusiast of drinks, meaning you can differentiate between Prosecco and sparkling grape juice, then I suggest you pass by. Beyond their luck of obtaining optimal real estate in the Lower Eastside, this establishment is a pitiful attempt of a bar. Dont waste your time at visting this venue and their embarrassing brigade of mediocre bartenders which try and distract you from their lackluster barskills with lasers and fern plants. If youre hammered and want a water pour with a Grey Goose price and the company of a budding pre-pubescent, you should check this place out.

2022-03-02Good event space. The Prohibition Productions Mardi Gras event was incredible! The bar was decent and 3rd floor was well ventilated. The 2nd floor room became soupy with lots of dancers.

2022-07-02In a satin gown and heels I was picked out of line and kicked out. I completely felt disrespected and two girls in front of me were let in both we’re white Which I thought was significant to how mean he was to us… I would never spend my money here.

2022-06-21Had an amazing time here. There was a line to get in we got there after 11 pm, we were a large group and were accommodated quickly and skipped the whole line haha. Paid like $500 or $600 to get in but that came with drinking tickets, came out to about 40 per person. Dance floor was crowded but the vibe was right. Music was great , a little bit of everything. I love to dance and here I danced the entire night.

2021-03-21Such a vibe! The DJ was on point, food was great, drinks flowing. $65 for a brunch. Open bar for 2 hours. Felt like Sunday Rooftop before Covid 19. They have the necessary Covid precautions while you enjoy your time around people. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Will revisit throughout the summer months.

2022-05-29The worst, stay away from that club! We were part of a pub crawl and generally foreign IDs were simply not accepted without given logical explanation. Highly discriminating and disrespectful towards tourists, almost racist behaviour! Other pubs and club we have been to, had no problem with us and were welcoming and warm. Not that one though

2022-06-26WARNING: Please DO NOT pre-order tickets. You will be forced to wait in line and buy $100 worth of tabs regardless of your ticket. Then the doormen will still try to harass you to let you cut the line. The atmosphere and music is okay, but they overcrowd the place. Overall i would not recommend this place as there are much better alternatives in the area.

2022-04-01Wish I could give 0 stars tbh. Came here for a friends birthday, and we got a table. Service is trash, employees are SO rude (except for security) but apparently they hire their security through a third party?? they took away my taser which I understood. I gave them my reasoning because I am a young Asian American female living in NYC (gotta stay safe you know what I mean). Told me theyd give it back to me at the end of the night because Id be traveling back to Queens alone, never gave it back. Called them to ask if I could pick it up, went to go pick it up, the owner I presume had an ATTITUDE! So never got that back. Ambiance was trash, music was trash, drink prices were so steep. There are better clubs/ lounges in Manhattan with cheaper drink prices and better music. Besides the aesthetic, everything is TRASH.
