The Erie Hotel & Restaurant in Port Jervis

The food was mediocre. The fish and chips tasted like it was freezer burnt, the wings had a very thick sauce that tasted from the bottle and the fries were burnt. We heard other diners receive a basket of bread, but we did not. It could have been because of the size of the party, but seemed weird. Staff was really friendly, the food just wasnt good.
There is a lot to be said for the ambiance of a place. This restaurant/hotel has it in spades. The building is beside the Erie Depot...an old railroad station of importance. I did not stay in the rooms, and it was too cold for the Tiki Bar, but the restaurant was lovely and set in the historic district of Port Jervis, beside the Delaware River, and the street is full of amazing architecture; The Erie Hotel being a focal point of it.We had appetizers: Cordon Blue Cheese Balls and the Meatball Parmigiana Sliders. I recommend the Sliders. The Cordon Blue Cheese Balls were not a favorite. Perhaps if the ham was shredded instead of chunked, we may have liked them more.Staff is super friendly!
This is speaking of the restaurant only. Ive eaten here quite a few times. Ive never had a bad meal here. Its a little rustic and does have the bar pretty prominent in the center. But I do recommend it to folks. Its a good meal with a nice non chain food experience . Worth the trip.
One of the most fun places to visit. Great food, nice staff, and old fashioned hotel upstairs with rooms being upgraded and QuickDraw. Next door to the beautiful former Erie Railroad Station, now office building and and a short walk to MTA/NJT trains to Hoboken, NYC and many other points connecting at Secaucus Junction
The strangest thing about this place was the server saying she would bring out some bread because the kitchen was backed up and our food would be delayed and bringing out a basket of cake instead. No joke. Sweet gooey cinnamon cake and another that seemed like a spice cake. The BF was happy with it, but I expect bread to be savory. The food is typical pub fare. The cocktails are very sweet. They have a vast selection of beers. The service was somewhat efficient if not particularly friendly.
The best meal weve had in a very long time. Everyone expects a good entree but even the baked potato was exceptional. Because we havent been out in a while we ordered the prime rib and baby back ribs. We could not have gotten a better meal at any price anywhere. If youre in the area go do yourself a favor and have dinner at the Erie hotel.
We used to love this place. It had the best onion soup around. Most of the food was good but we were disappointed. The onion soup is only standard. The bread and cheese had diminished in size. Service was good and timely. But the noise was loud and made it hard to talk.we will give this place another try. But this was not a good experience.
I have to say, this was one of the most enjoyable meals Ive had in a long time.As soon as we entered we felt welcome with the small town friendly attitude.... First up was three different kinds of home made breads.... Pumpkin, cinnamon and a wonderful slightly cheese roll... Then, each entree came with soup or a salad. We chose salad which came with an abundance of lettuce and veggies. We had the their Prime Rib which was delicious.... the have it on their menue every day.... and Pork Ossobuco which was hearty and delicious as well.....Needless to say, we will be back...
Noisy bar. They sat us near a large noisy group and some kids so we couldnt hear ourselves talk. We used to love the onion soup. Still ok but not what it was. Had less cheese and bread than it used to.burgers were good but fries were limp and not fresh. Prices are fair. Hard to find parking in weekend.
Went with my family for dinner. Food was not hot and flavor was bland. Waitress went MIA half the time and took forever. She never smiled once to us. Asked for ketchup and napkins and never got it. Asked another waitress for napkins and she said sure and then kept chatting with a coworker and never brought them over. It wasnt even busy so Im not sure what the issue was. Never returning again. Horrible customer service and disappoining food.
We visited with family, probably eight or nine adults and a couple little ones. The food was consistently okay but did not live up to the hype. The sauce on the chicken scampi was thin and undistinguished, the chicken seemed to have been poached and the slices of garlic were undercooked. I heard the same about the chicken saltimbocca. One member of the party had a hamburger cooked rare and was quite ill that night, which was troubling. The drinks were good. The staff was friendly, cheerful and attentive but the consensus was that the food was okay, I guess.
Met some friends there for a couple drinks, they got food, everything looked excellent. They were raving about the food. The service was great and the owner was super friendly. I really enjoyed the train station atmosphere. It was in a nice part of town too, Ill definitely be going again for dinner.
Was one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Always looked forward to going. NOT anymore. I dont know what happened/changed, but the service is absolutely ridiculous. Plan on spending a long time. I honestly wanted to like this restaurant, so I gave it 3 strikes and your out. All 3 recent visits were let downs. Order your drinks- wait . Appetizers - wait even longer. Entree- was almost asleep from waiting. Never experience such long wait times at any other restaurant Ive been to. We literally felt like we were forgotten as it took at least a half hour just to get our drinks. On a positive note, the food is rather good. However, due to whatever happened with the service, I will no longer return nor will I recommended. If it was just once or twice, perhaps I could understand. It just seems like the norm though. Such a shame. Hopefully I hear people say the service has vastly improved one day as theres not many decent restaurants in the area for people to go to.
If you’re looking for 5 Star food this is the spot. They serve fresh baked bread with your entré- And forget about typical dinner rolls, try spiced pumpkin bread and warm cinnamon bread. Had the Steak and Chicken- steak came out perfectly rare with a nice char on it. Even the salad came with loads of fresh vegetables. Friendly staff and rustic atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back and try more! FYI if you sit in the front booth, the moose definitely stares at you.
Like others weve been coming here for years ( Fall foliage or spring hike up at nearby High Point State Park, then a ride down the hill intoPort Jervis and the Erie Hotel ) Great burgers and sandwiches and coffee ( like a Jersey Diner ) but with a nice selection of beers and drinks. Just a nice place with atmosphere and a nice wait staff.
The First time we went here..food was good but waitress was HORRIBLE...came back today to try again and got the same HORRIBLE waitress...10 minutes to get menus...20 minutes to get 2 drinks...seemed annoyed we were there...FINALLY got food and when she finally came back around to ask about refills we said yes...hence..another 20 minutes and I ended up walking up to ANOTHER waitress and asking for the drinks..while the HORRIBLE waitress was just standing at the counter!..she got mine(which was sitting on the counter the whole time with flies everywhere)..and rushed my wifes drink over to us fast. Had high hopes we had a place to go and bring our get togethers there but if that blonde old waitress is still there than sorry to say Ill tell everyone to stay away...wish I could have tipped the OTHER waitress..maybe I still will..
Good beer menu (including several local drafts) and a wide variety of food (shrimp cocktail, yes please!) Beautiful solid wood bar, all the usual food and drinks youd want. Nice, fun clientele. You can play lotto and Quick Picks, which is a fun aside. Casey was the sweetest server!
We went early in the day about 12ish an they were just opening.... we got some French fries that seemed like they were leftover from the night before! Same with the jalapeño poppers...The server seemed like she didnt want to be there... very aloof..We moved up to the bar when a spot was open..Sat there for 2 1/2 spending money 2 of us were drinking( r designated driver) was not... we spent 0ver a 100 dollars with not 1 buy back... my wife an I have over 40 years Bartending between an found this highly unusualWe still tipped r waitress 25 dollars... an r Bartender 30 dollars...Knowing that servers depend on tips...My father was a waiter at Terrace on the park..My mother was a wonderful waitress..My sister was a waitress... my older brother is also a Bartender in Queens..So maybe Im a little biased when it comes to how see servers 🤔...But when a restaurant trys to serve yesterdays leftovers.... it leaves a bad taste in my mouth
The place looked really cool and had beautiful decor. The menu had a decent amount of options and categories.Prices were okay.We were part of a bigger table and I got the Delmonico steak and my fiancé got the prime rib.The steak was a over cooked and dry. And mushrooms didn’t have much flavor. The prime rib had no flavor at all.A girl next to me got a burger and said that it was good. The service was nothing to complain about.I would probably go there again for some bears and a burger but not for a nice fancy dinner.
Went for dinner last night and had the worst experience ever. Our meals were horrible, I had the Prime Rib and it was the worst piece of meat and wasnt even cooked, it came out raw like they only put seasoning on it and put it on the plate. The pasta with chicken meal smelled funny and didnt taste good either. We had 4 waitresses handling our table and it wasnt busy. We never got our bread until after our meal was on the table. We were very disappointed with the food and service when in the past it always was good.
Solid food, mostly american staples with some Italian and German dishes mixed in. The beer selection is very good. Lots of stuff on tap, local craft stuff, some more well known national craft stuff and all the regular domestic stuff. The server was attentive and nice. The location is old timey and historic is a fun sort of way.
The five stars are for the great service my girlfriend and I always receive every week that we go up , until today.. I must say I have to give our waitress Denise a one star and I’m being nice doing that.. we got there and sat for a bit before she came to take the drink order , as we received our drinks, we placed our food order..we received our food and noticed that my girlfriend needed another drink , wait twenty minutes and she comes back. Wrong drink not what she was drinking .. she had slight attitude when we told her it was wrong. Quick to get the correct drink to us, where the one star comes in.. waiting for our bill , so I got up to find her to ask for it because she went missing for quite some time to find her in a different room texting on her phone. It was like she didn’t want to be there , never checked on us to see if everything was good or needed anything else.. otherwise food was great as always and will be back next week. Guarantee i Will not be asking for Denise!!
The food is very good. Ordered a full rack of BBQ ribs. Nice portion. Came with nice fresh salad, homemade bread and vegetables. My wife had a salmon steak. Nice atmosphere. Ive been there a few times and parking is free on the street. Never had a problem finding a spot.
If you like the game Red Dead Redemption as much as I do, this place is for you! When I was sitting there everything reminded me of that period of time, Wild West and cowboys, where you can go and grab a glass of whiskey and talk about new horse that you got🤠The food was good! We got potatoe tater tots with chicken and bacon in cheese and it tasted like heaven, we destroyed it in couple of minutes. French onion soup was classic. Burgers were delicious, exactly the way we wanted it. The restaurant also has beer flights and delicious pumpkin martini for fall season. Customer service was good and fast. Since it’s corona time, they have sanitizers and the place looks clean.
This place is basically a diner with a bar in a fancy building, but its the best place to go in the area.Average food, which was a disappointment because we were told their food is fantastic. Average prices, which was nice. There were only two waitresses working and the place was packed so that was frustrating but the waitresses were very nice and doing their beat. The dessert menu looked amazing and they seem to have a pretty good beer menu, although I didnt order from either. Its a nice cozy looking place but its small and popular so if you plan to go there on the weekends be prepared to wait for a table. We weren’t crazy about the place but well go back, just on a less busy night.
This place looked clean at first glance but it was not the standard of cleanliness we were expecting, the dishes and silverware were dirty. Every one of the bread plates we were given looked like they had previously been used. I got more plates from the stack of just cleaned the plates were even warm but there was caked on crusted food remnants still on them. The calamari was good but not a generous amount. However, the burgers were excellent and the waitress service excellent. For this reason I give 3 stars otherwise I would have given 1 because of the dirty plates and silverware.
I was in the area visiting my family and i’ve heard this was the place to be. I went in and nobody was wearing a mask and there was no limit on the capacity of people. The managers didn’t seem to care either or have any rules set. I had a horrible dining experience. Service was rude and inattentive and food was expensive and bland! Sadly, my dog is served better food.
Always great food! We were married in the banquet hall in 2014 and return every anniversary for their amazing prime rib dinners. Good prices and large portions. Might need to make reservations on the weekends if you want to sit in the dining room. Otherwise there are 2 indoor bars and outdoor seating in the summer!
My waitress was wonderful. Very nice and attentive. Food was fantastic, though if you dont like pickles, you will want to ask to not have one. Beer selection was good, but disappointed when my craft beer was served in a frozen glass (kills the flavor). It easily could have been a 5 star rating, except for the frosted glass and walking out into a cloud of cigarette smoke from employees smoking right at the front door.
The Erie Hotel & Restaurant is located in the heart of old downtown, Port Jervis, next to the original Erie Lakawanna railroad station. The restaurant has a couple of separate dining areas, but its the restaurants bar area which is presided over by an enormous, late 19th century, carved wooden backdrop that creates the ambiance. The wall are decorated with lot of pictures depicting how it used to be in Port J. The menu is extensive, and runs the gamut from finger foods to full meals. Based on multiple visits, I can say that the portions are large, the food is competent and the service is friendly. If you like beer, the bar has a revolving selection of locally brewed beers on tap. Although Port J. is now graced by some tonier eateries, The Erie, remains the classic place to go.
What can I say about the Erie Hotel? Nothing but good! I was in Matamoras/Port Jervis for a family wedding that happened to occur over the same weekend as my 40th birthday. Since there was no Friday night rehearsal dinner, and because my immediate family would all be together for the first time in a while, we decided to take that opportunity to have dinner together. I posted a question in a Matamoras neighborhood group, asking for suggestions, and the Erie Hotel was one of them. After looking at their menu online, and pictures, I decided that was the perfect place to fit all our tastes and needs.I really appreciated that they allowed me to make a reservation, and especially that they allowed me to change it (originally wed requested to sit outside, but ahead of the date we realize the weather wouldnt be cooperating with that). The restaurant is clearly following all covid protocols for distancing and masking. We felt safe, and with Tabitha our server, we felt well taken care of.We mostly ordered sandwiches (the Mae West is pictured) and soups, and a couple appetizers to split. If youre going to be in the area and want a tasty, fun, comfortable option, I highly recommend the Erie Hotel. Ill definitely return next time Im in town!
Very friendly, they were the only place open on Saturday at noon: we came in right when they were opening up without knowing and they were completely hospitable right off the bat. I highly recommend their Bloody Mary- the woman who makes them has the magic formula. The food was good- big menu, theres really something for everyone on there, and its reasonably priced. Well definitely be back.
Stayed in the hotel which was pretty basic. Clean enough and safe, but no frills and dated decor if that matters to you. No complaints and if youre just there to sleep its great for the price. Room was above the bar/restaurant and didnt affect our sleep. Overall would stay again.Picked up the food downstairs to eat in the room- had salad and dessert, was good food and reasonable prices.
Great service since they opened a few decades ago - likely because many servers are longtime, a good sign of how they are treated. The food is consistent too, Im a huge fan of their French Onion Soup, so much that Its one of the few rare things that keeps me from being officially vegetarian. Yeah. That good. Get the beer flight sampler, great craft beaers on tap. Cant stay away from this place, its just so damn consistently good all around local casual steakhouse.
Stayed a night and had some drinks here. The staff was so amazing! So warm and friendly. Had a great night of sleep here and it is in the middle of downtown! I did not have a meal here, but it looked great! What a great place and next time I am in town I know where to get a meal and stay!
The atmosphere has a rustic charm, the bar and mirror takes you on a trip back in time to the Victorian heydays of the Erie railroad. However, the menu was a bit odd for the setting. Is it Italian, Greek or typical bar food? Either way, the food wasnt all that great. Think the fryer oil could be filtered or changed a little more often and the menu could definitely use a revamp to something a little more fitting to the atmosphere.
Food and service was great. A bit of a wait for the meal, but this is a walk in restaurant, and Friday nights are busy. Waitress was friendly and knew the menu and kept us informed about how far along the Cook was with our meal. Prices here are moderate and a good bargin. Well go back again soon.
I was very disappointed with my recent experience. Food was pretty boring and the service was unenthused. I have been here many times in the last 25 years, and this time left me wanting to not come back. Had a prime rib that seemed as though it may have been a tad too aged or something. We took some home and the cat wouldnt event eat a piece. My fault for not speaking up right away. Also the chicken special with lobster stuffing was dry and not very tasty at all. A burger or chicken parmigiana probably would have been the way to go. Oh well.
Over priced bar food . First time ever going after a rafting trip. Came with 7 people and nobody talking about how the food was. We all knew it was over priced garbage that was layers in sandwichs and a waitress the lies.Ordered a chicken ceaser wrap and asked how much chicken is in it . She said TWO chicken breast. Everybody even responded wow thats alot. Got it and it was more like two dried up chicken tenders cut up.After reading the reviews to see what others said our group of 7 can see what they where talking about.Save yourself the hassle and go to the brewery down the road they have a MUCH better menu. I wish we went to them first as this place is not good. If i was the owner of this place id quit my job and go enroll in culinary arts school.
I ordered a New York strip steak while my wife had a prime rib. The other members of our group ordered shrimp scampi, steak and an eggplant parmigiana sandwich. The food was prepared to perfection. The table service is friendly and prompt. My wife and I live in New Jersey and weve been to this restaurant in the past while visting her family nearby. I recommend this establishment to everyone traveling through the area.
Wow!!!What a beautiful building! What an amazing staff! What incredible food!We went on a Friday night and it seemed packed. We were seated in a booth and you wouldnt have known anyone else was there. The building itself is really beautiful. From the ornate trim around the bar, to the many pictures on the wall it would take a fairly good amount of time to see everything.I had the best French onion soup ive ever had, followed by stuffed filet of sole that again was the best Ive ever tasted. My date had a king cut of prime rib that he could cut with a fork. We shared peanut butter mudslide pie with international coffees for dessert. Oh and the bread basket had the most incredible cinnamon raisin bread. I plan on going back again and again.
Staff is very polite. Nice enough place, been there about four times food is fine if you stick to a burger, steer clear of the onion soup and the tasteless ribs and makes sure you only get one soda cause youre paying each glass, even seltzer. Do yourself a favor and take a stroll across the street
The Beer selection was what saved this place.. at one time it was the only place to eat in PJ. Not quite as good as it use to be, an we waited what feels like a punishment to be seated, while an older woman who finleys told us to sit any where an the bartender chatted it up. I should have followed my gut an walked out , thats how long we waited, This restaurant offers Sandard food.
Cinco de mayo. Sunday afternoon I walk into the Erie hotel.sit at the bar immediately greeted by a server.who got the bartender who was friendly and personable.read me the drink and food specials for the day order my drink which was fresh squeezed ok and vodka absolutely delicious! Ordered turkey and bacon wrap with the stuffed mushrooms app . My food came out perfectly timed.i was very impressed with the presentation and taste of the appetizer and my wrap. Nicely plated! my overall experience at the Erie that afternoon was one of pure comfort.atmosphere is nice and rustic with that old school charm. Clean cozy, and warm feel to the building staff friendly and helpful. Been here several times.will be back soon hopefully this is helpful to others who want to dine locally or just relax and have a few drinks.
My King Cut Prime Rib.. Was simply the Best Ive ever had. My Date had Blackened Tuna Steak. Another Home Run from the kitchen..Dessert was Toasted Almond Cake. Grand Slam. Our Waitress Roni was well informed as to each of our food Choices..Never Have we both Experienced a Meal this Good at the same time... Cant say Enough Good Things.
Went with my girlfriend for my birthday dinner, cost for 2 was about $50 with a small tip due to server disappearing many times for 20 minutes or more, we almost left the restaurant twice. It was moderately busy and it took 15 minutes for them to even recognise we needed a table because all the severs just kept asking us to move between the please wait here to be seated sign and the door multiple times. After the hostes recognised we needed to be seated it took another 10 minutes to be seated in a backroom near the kitchen that appeared to be best suited to private events and not general dining. Once seated out waitress introduced herself and walked away for 10 minutes to return to take our drink order, we each ordered a draft beer which took a reasonable 5-10 minutes to arrive. After that she disappeared for 25 minutes and we had finished our first round of drinks before being able to place even an appetizer order. We almost walked out at this point but she returned as we were about to get up. We skipped the appetizer, and my girlfriend ordered a chicken finger platter, and I a specialty burger that had BBQ sauce bacon and cheddar cheese, along with another round of beer, though I changed my beer to try another of the craft beer selection. Our beers came at the same time as our food, cudos to the kitchen for speedy service. My beer however tasted like the keg had gone bad and it took several attempts to get anyone to find our server who didnt want to take the beer back without charging for it even with only one sip out of it. After arguing with me for 5 minutes she saw the bartender walking by and asked him and he quickly replaced it with my typical selection of Stella as I didnt want to be disappointed again. In conclusion the foods decent and the kitchen and bar operate well, however it seems the servers and management of the restaurant need improving. I wouldnt dine again if they seemed anywhere near as busy, and would flat out refuse to dine in the back room by the kitchen. Two stars for service, three to four stars for food. Expect a bill slight more expensive than other venues in the area.
Good food and good beer line up. Pitchers of bud light through a couple of nice IPAs to fat tire for the Belgian fans. I had lunch in the restaurant. Very comfortable place to eat with good service. I checked out the tiki bar. Got a laugh out of a tiki bar populated by flannel shirts and jeans but it is November so I fit right in. Clean well lit place filled with happy people watching the football games.
The people are REALLY nice. The bar is solidly good. The food is... Hm.Lemme put it this way: dont do the eggplant parmesan unless you REALLY LOVE RICOTTA.For Port Jervis on a Monday (EVERYTHING ELSE IS CLOSED MONDAY FOR PETES SAKE), its a safe spot with great parking, good location, wifi, and clean(ish) bathrooms. The bar is good. The food, if youre hungry, is fine. That means fried things are fried right - crispy and light. Unfortunately, the grease shows up elsewhere.I ended up using my hand sanitizer on the table, my silverware, and everything I touched. It was *necessary*.For Monday, since my favorite spots were closed, the cheerful staff made it a nice spot for an Irish coffee, friendly smiles, and some writing. For those three things, Ill be back.
The Erie located in downtown Port Jervis is one of our favorite go to places for food and drinks. It is an easy walk from a large section of town and an easy walk from Matamoras, PA. Besides the Erie there are several other great places to enjoy food and drink in downtown Port Jervis. Worth the trip.
All morning I was calling and the hotel said there was rooms available. Me and my boyfriend walked In and told the bartender we’d like to rent a room and she had said the rooms were all booked MIND YOU LIKE I SAID BEFORE we were calling to make sure rooms were available we get there and the women tells us they are all booked out. (My boyfriend is black ) So we called afterwards asking for reassurance that they were all booked and the women says we have 3 rooms available and we asked have they been available all day the woman told us yes! The woman clearly had some type of issue with a white woman and black male coming to rent a room and I don’t appreciate this. If rooms were available all day I don’t understand what the issue was. You need better staff ones who aren’t racist.
First of all, let me say I am a 61-year old male who was in Port Jervis on business which will flavor some of this review. I had stayed in another hotel 10 miles away from Port Jervis on a Thursday night, but hadcar trouble the next day which required my car to be in the shop overnight. So Friday night I decided to stay at the Erie Hotel, which was very convenient to the repair shop.I ate two dinners at the Erie (Thursday and Friday), both of them the largest cut (and it was large) of prime rib they had, and the food was great. The beer was even better, as they had eight craft beers on tap as well as some good national brands. The back-bar was great, carved from wood, and the atmosphere was also good. The staff and the clientele were very friendly.Friday night I stayed at the hotel. I asked for a quiet room, but unfortunately the only one left was on the first floor, right at the front of the building, right over the door to the restaurant/bar where the patrons would congregate to smoke cigarettes and talk very loudly. Also unfortunately (for me) it was Friday night and they had live music. While the web site talks about a kitchen closing time of 10 P.M. and the sign outside talks about a closing time of 11 P.M., the band was still playing loudly (I could feel the vibrations of the base in my pillow) at 1:30 A.M. Saturday morning. After the band finished they were playing the house music system, which was still very audible in my room, but after I went downstairs and politely complained at 2 A.M. they turned it down enough that (with earplugs) I could get to sleep.Normally I would not have minded and would have joined in the fun (the band was actually pretty good), but I was tired, and I had asked for a quiet room, which should have clued the staff member to say Sir, I think you might want to look some other place. I was able to sleep only four hours. The room and bath were very clean, and the bed was comfortable but the room itself was small (as others have mentioned). I regretted having no desk of any type to put my laptop on while I read email. Yes, they had wireless. I do not know if the WiFi reached to the top floor of the hotel, but it worked fine in my room.A good breakfast diner was one-half mile away (15 minute stroll).Bottom line: Probably most nights the Erie would have been a great sleep for the money (half the price of my other hotel room), and having an extensive menu and great beers at the same place you are staying is also good. Particularly if they are craft beers of higher-than-normal alcohol (which they were). If I was not expecting to get up early to try and get my car in gear and continue my business, I probably would have loved staying up to hear the band play until 2 A.M. After all, it was a Friday night and only old cranks like me might have to get up early the next day instead of cuddling with a significant someone in a bed to a decent time of the morning. If you are a couple and antiquing, a night or two in the Erie would probably be right up your alley.
I dont know, Im torn between giving it 3 stars for issues I will relate below or 5 stars because I liked the place so much. The main issue would be noise, its over a bar and on a busy street (at least my room was). But its not the hotels fault that bar conversations continue on the sidewalk long after last call or that bikers like to blast their noisy mufflers at 4am. Another issue, to some, might be that nearby parking is hit or miss, shower only - no bathtub, ice must be retrieved from the bar and the bed (my bed) was creaky like right out of the Addams family. On the flipside, the town is quaint, the hotel and its bar have a lot of personality, the staff were over-the-top pleasant and the price is unbeatable. My wife and I chose this place as a halfway point on a 10 hour drive and I dont regret it.
We were on the road and didnt want to stop at a Mc Donald . We found it on google it was open and we were very pleased with our food . The basket of bread is a killer mmmmmmiammmm spice cake and raisin bread. We had a bonus of customer playing Banjo violon and accordion. Happy we stop.
Bad service n food except for a burger n apps. group of 7 of us. steak was killed 3 times. fish n chips burnt. french dip was just oil n bland steak. chicken marsala is there any marsala in it?. chicken caesar wrap drenched in dressing n ceaser straight uo vinegar made me sick.
6PM reservation for fathers day dinner, ordered our meals at 6:15, dinner did not arrive until 7:30,Food was pedestrian at best. 25.95 for shrimp scampi...4 shrimps and overdone linguine, the scallops were overdone also. Waitress kept forgetting my wife when asking about orders...was rushing everything. Waited a bit too long for drinks, were toldthere is a shortage of glasses...Dont think well be back.

2022-06-04How to turn a huge disappointment into a great WIN! We left the house expecting to dine at a different restaurant. When we arrived we found the place locked up tight with no indication as to why. What to do? We saw folks walking into The Erie and decided to give it a try. What a great surprise! Our waitress Amanda was just about the best, sweetest and cheeriest. The food was amazing. The included salad was perfect with great Blue Cheese dressing, the bread was scrumptious and the two entrees were tasty and plentiful.

2022-02-02Great place to get together with friends. We dined in. I had a burger it was delish. Spent under $20. The waitress was very knowledgeable on menu items. Atmosphere was appealing. I just had to take this pic. It was cool. But watch that wee step at the front door. Be sure to look down when stepping in an out.

2022-04-14I spent the night in room 2. The room was small, as you could expect from a hotel this old. But the room was in good condition there was hot water the bed was comfortable, and it was very quiet all night.I ate dinner in the restaurant which was very good -- plenty of food, and a good beer selection.

2022-03-28The staff is nice. The food good, but small portions. Not that I need a 6 inch thick sandwich, but I had a pastrami reuben and there was about 3 slices of meat on it. Not going back.

2022-04-09We stayed in the hotel and had a very enjoyable time. Be aware that its *very* basic. Dont stay here if youre expecting the Econolodge. As others have mentioned, there is no way to beat the location, but youre making a trade off, and its inexpensive. There is free parking on the street, or a municipal lot across the street. We parked on the street and it was fine. The only complaint that I would make is that the room could have used a second chair and maybe a desk. We ended up buying a TV tray table at the Walmart across the river. We were in the bar several nights and found the other customers very friendly and the staff polite, friendly, and open. We only ate there once, but the food was wonderful.

2022-02-26My sister was visiting and we went Saturday night. I was a little suspicious of all the steaks on the menu but the waitress assured us they werent tourist steaks 🤣. I ordered the special and my sister ordered the NY Strip. She wasnt lying, they were delicious, and the portions were very generous, with a nice vegetable and a perfect baked potato. I am already planning my next visit. Great to have this spot right in the center of town!

2022-05-26After visiting Grey Towers of course the next move was dinner. I had visited somewhere else last year for a bite but they were closed, no matter, this was another great choice. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and seated promptly. We loved our server, she was wonderful the entire time. Tasty espresso martini... I asked if they made the jalapeño poppers in house, but it was a no, I got them anyway lol. Still good, nicely fried. I also got boneless wings with medium sauce, with white parmesean garlic on the side. Could have used more sauce on them, Im a sauce freak! The parm garlic was great, the niece agrees, she tried on her fries. She also liked her burger. He got the chopped steak, potatoes, and salad. All very good! (I borrowed some of each...) But all that aside, WHOA. THE BREAD BASKET. We absolutely flipped over it! Soft, spreadable butter, with not one, or two, but THREE different delicious breads! Pumpkin bread, rolls sprinkled with poppyseed, and a cinnamon roll type sweet bread also! Id DEFINITELY go here again! Would love to sit outside next time!

2022-04-17I visited on Easter Sunday. They were very busy, as to be expected. Service was great. So was the food. I couldnt be happier that I chose to come here with my Grandmother for Easter. Well be back, for sure. Thanks !

2022-04-28Went here for the first and last time on recommendations from several friends. Unfortunately like many of the other one star reviews we had the same terrible experience with the service. We sat for 25 minutes without anyone coming to take even a drink order. Several waitresses and staff members walked by many times without even acknowledging we were there. We literally felt invisible. We walked out of the back door never to return.
