My mom ordered food from this place. She ordered 3 crayfish fettuccine dinners. First of all if you are selling fettuccine. Then send your customers fettuccine pasta. And not egg noodles. We were very disappointed in the food. Call them to complain, Was told theres noting they can do. I highly recommend, not going to this place. I would rather travel hundreds of miles to get the Real Deal!!!!!
The food was great, as it always us, but the experience was pretty bad.I wont list all of the things that were lacking, Ill just hit the biggest ones.On a Wednesday night it was so loud that I could barely hear the person next to me. The dining room wasnt even half full, the noise was from upstairs which I believe is a bar, but Im not sure.We had to ask for more napkins multiple times, despite ordering two of the messiest foods around (wings and beignets). The beignets came in a cardboard dish and the drinks were on plastic cups. When I go to a restaurant that isnt a diner or fast food I expect a much better experience.I wont be going back, though I might get takeout.
This place is amazing and everything gives off a New Orleans vibe. The artwork on the wall looks really nice also. Its a nice quiet location you can attend for for a business dinner or with family. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The food, phenomenal! I had the gumbo appetizer, fried okra and fish. The alcohol tasted really good also. The price for the food suits it very well.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was authentic. The live band really set the ambiance. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for a good, wholesome soul warming meal. The beignets were AMAZING. Nothing but good things to say and Ill certainly be returning !
My friend and I were looking to try something new that night and we decided on this restaurant. It turned out to be a great decision, as we left with a whole new outlook on Cajun/Creole cuisine. The atmosphere was pleasant with jazz music overhead and New Orleans style decor all around. The server was awesome and very helpful. We split the wings for the appetizer and they were crispy and lathered in a sweet chili tasting sauce and just fantastic. Then I ordered the Red Gumbo and she the V plate with fried catfish and fettuccine with crawfish tails. Both tasted phenomenal and were very large portions. We decided to order the beignets and peach cobbler since the other food was so good, and both blew our minds, just absolutely fantastic. I would definitely come back to this establishment when I’m in the area again.
The place has some of the most delicious and authentic creole food Ive had in WNY. This my second time there, and this time I was able to try several different items on the menu from the wings (delicious!) to the gumbo and crawfish. My main course consisted of the Blackened Catfish fillet and Crawfish fettuccine. It was delish and so flavorful. Having been recently disappointed by a catfish experience it was nice to enjoy a good piece of fish. For an appetizer, I had the chicken and sausage gumbo and ordered the cup, but as you can see this came in a bowl and the bowl option which was a dollar more is really more a full dinner portion. Definitely know what Ill be getting next time since this was popping with flavor was not overpowering in taste as some gumbo can be.For dessert of course me and my friends has beignets. Wish I took a picture of them, but they were so dang tasty we eat them before that could happen, haha.
Our overall experience was pleasant and tasty. The feeling, colors, art and orderliness were exciting and comfortable. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and well informed. The drunken shrimp was disappointing, I expected larger, shell-on shrimp in a savory sauce. What I was served was small un-shelled shrimp in an unremarkable broth. The po boy had soft, light bread, the perfect amount of condiments, fresh lettuce and tomatoe with a well seasoned fillet. The beignets were sweet and indulgent if slightly heavy. Ill be back to try the fried catfish or the crawfish etoufee (or both).
The Soul Vibe Open Mic Event thats held here is quite amazing. Every 3rd Saturday of each month its held. August event was from 8pm to 11pm. Open bar and New Orleans cuisine is a highlight as well at this place. There is an upstairs and downstairs setting. Very clean very organized. I hope to try the food my next visit. I hear the food is great. Mimosas very tasty!
Great New Orleans style food at reasonable prices. Friendly service even on a busy Mardi Gras night. Fun atmosphere with original artwork for sale. Live music for special occassions in the upstairs bar/lounge area. Situated in what back in the day was a downtown single family house. Well be back again for sure.
Food, spectacular! Portions, great! Service, pretty good, except... I ordered the smothered catfish. She said what two sides would you like? And when the bill came, she charged me an extra $1.95 for each of them. I wouldnt have gotten the two sides if they werent included, and she sure said it like they were. I could care less about the money but I really felt like there was some dishonesty in the upselling. Its too bad, this was going to be my new regular place when in town.
Not far from Corn Hill, this unique local spot has some hidden culinary gems though not all can shine so bright. I started with an order of chicken and sausage jambalaya. Admitingly, needed a little salt (very little) but was flavorful and it balanced the amount of meat to rice ratio. For my entree, I ordered the Cajun fried catfish which sadly was underwhelming. Though it looked seasoned, it was in looks alone. Personally, I did not eat the wings but roomie ate them in less than 15 min so they must have been delicious. Surprise surprise, the star of the meal were the beignets. Similar to donuts but more airy than dense and covered in powdered sugar. The taste was sweet like fried dough without the crunch. May give this place another chance once Covid-19 is all done. Might be best to try it fresh out the kitchen. With the current socal distancing, best to call ahead, and wait in the car. Had to call a few times checking on the order as it took an additional 45 min after the designated time. Mind you, this was right after Phase 2 so they must have been still adjusting. Overall, definitely will give this place another try now that we are in Phase 3.
The French quarter is a gem. Lived the food. Have had it twice over the last week and each time the food has been fresh and tasty. I had the smothered black salmon and corn choux and it was simply delicious. Ordered my kids meals as well and they loved the food despite them being picky. Would definitely recommend. The only downside is the wait time. But food is definitely worth the wait.
(During Covid times, YMMV)Friday night, was kinda quiet in there but a lot of take out orders going out the door. Tried a bunch of their stuff - boudin balls were great, as was the shrimp half and half, as well as the beignets . The best was the fried shrimp Po boy though, that was worth it. The surprising disappointment was the fried chicken. Wasnt as crispy as I thought it could be and the seasoning left a weird aftertaste that was unpleasant. The wait staff were pretty attentive, but there was two servers for three tables. Im not sure how this place would be if it were busy, but thats for another trip to find out.All in all a great meal and a shockingly good value for the amount of food for what amounted to an app, three entrees and a dessert for under $50. We will be back again.
I had hoped that this would be a decent experience for my wife and I. We discovered the place during a search of restaurants near the falls and I for one was excited to see a Cajun restaurant to try.Pros: Quirky building with original features. Nice looking original art for sale in the restaurant.Cons: The rice had sat too long in the steamer and was gummy. The etoufee roux and stock had little flavor beyond the cayenne pepper. There was no celery or onion to be seen. The meal was a bit below average for us and our other guests. Coleslaw was good, but thats not what you go to a Cajun restaurant to get.Maybe the other meal choices could be better but those who got the PoBoys commented that it was just a sandwich without much to make it memorable. The staff was a bit over worked.Maybe my expectations were too high trying to relive my experience in the Gulf Coast. But if youre looking for great Cajun know that this is just mediocre at best.
My first time at the French quarters attending my niece birthday party all I can say is the waiters was rude, they had hair on my food, the food was cold and salty I was pretty much shock because all Im hearing is the French quarters its nice and good food well I didnt experience none of that its saddened to say .... So I kindly ask to speak to the manager the waiter said leave my phone number and hell get back to me customer service its not professional never again. Overall I was not looking for no handout even tho the food was cold and out of the 25 people that came was not happy I still end up paying and with a $50 tip. Hopefully they get they act together and hire more people and get training on professionalism.
My experience this past weekend 05/23/21 was wonderful. We were seated within 5-10 minutes. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The bathroom was clean. The server was very professional, timely with the food, and kind. We ordered and our appetizers came out quickly. I had the Cafe wings. They were delightful, crispy, and the sauce is unique. I ordered the crawfish fettuccine for my entrée (whewwwww it melted in my mouth) with corn (sweet and delish) and fried okra( fried to perfection. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.) Back to the fettuccine...it was beyond tasty. The crawfish was juicy and the sauce was delightful and it wasnt too little and not too much. I will be back
It was wonderful as all ways. I havent got out much sense the pandemic but my niece wanted to take me out for my birthday. Im so glad she did and chose to go there. I love ordering off the phone, the throw away utensil and how table had was far away from each other keeping us all SAFE
The food here is AMAZING! Its not pricey and its filling! Its nice for take out but also for a dinner date or a dinner with friends. I highly recommend the shrimp etouffee or the double jambalaya add shrimp and request the etouffee sauce on the side. It takes the dish to the next level!
My Fiancé & I get takeout from them often, a few days ago we put in a request to see if they could add some extra spice to his fried chicken & to my chicken etouffee.(Me being hispanic & very mixed, I always add an abundance of heat to our meal during dinner)When I tell you the cook put some HEAT on our food, I mean it!!!! My fiancé is very German, && can hardly handle any slight spice without sweating and turning beet red, (but regardless, he LOVES IT. & He thoroughly enjoyed how spicy and hot the food was!!) For me, the spice was JUST perfect, & was exactly how I season our food at home❤️We were so happy with the meal we called & thanked them! Compliments to the woman who took our order & of course, to the chef!! I always recommend this eatery to all my friends & loved ones. It is truely a hidden gem within the City of Rochester. They never disappoint but this recent experience was the absolute best for us :) we thank you!! ❤️
Good food slow service. Too many restaurants have good food and know how to schedule pick-ups at this point that an hour wait for an online order placed two hours in advance is not worth it. They need to care enough about their customers to do better or their business will not survive in this cash strapped COVID climate. Cant have all these people waiting for food even with masks on for long periods and expect they will come back. Too many options for that.
This creole restaurant is tucked away yet in the heart of downtown. Our experience was very different from the reviews I previewed when picking a place to eat. Our server, Mark, was happy, upbeat and very attentive. Our service was prompt and food came out of the kitchen in appropriate time. Our food was excellent and as mentioned, so was the service. The atmosphere was quite comfortable. My only criticism was that on a Saturday night they open at 3pm, but no bartender until 6:30pm. Our 5:30 pm reservation meant very limited drink choices. I think that is crazy as it is the cream of restaurant profit.
This food is literally so good that you need to experience it to understand. The Nashville Hot Chicken is so crispy and flavorful that it blew my mind and my girlfriend and were talking about it time and time again the next day.The Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings and Gumbo were also so flavorful. The chicken wings were the crispiest and most delicious wings Ive ever had. The gumbo was full of real chunks of sausage and chicken. I cant recommend this enough.
This place has become a date night favorite for my wife and I. The food never disappoints and the staff is always friendly. We have yet to dine in due to covid but usually do pick up. The environment is warm and inviting, located within a historic building and decorated with beautiful art.
Food was very good, however, I ordered the shrimp ettoufee half/half and received exactly 3 shrimp. 5 wings and when I called they told me that thats the portion size is for 13 .99 (nope). While it was delicious...I wont be going back. Too pricey and too long of a wait to not get what youre paying for.
A quaint and beautiful place inside and out. Kinda hidden entrance, I didnt see any signs to tell where it is. Nice dining area on 1st floor and some delicious smells from it but we didnt eat there unfortunately. Went upstairs to hip spacious room for the lovely Hanna PK s band. Had a great bartender, Mark, who was very professional and makes good drinks!! Next time well try the food.....
DELICIOUS!! Great prices and a lot of food. I had the shrimp PO boy and there were at least 8 shrimp in the sandwich. My boyfriend had the Nashville/New Orleans fried chicken and he loved it. We had dinner and dessert for under $40 and are adding The French Quarter to our regular restaurant rotation. Thanks for the amazing food!!
What a fabulous food experience!!!!!! Set in a beautiful, unique mansion house, the genuine New Orleans dishes are cooked with expertise & care, & are affordable for all to be able to enjoy. All of the staff were so very kind & friendly. Our waiter was the nicest young man-he also contributes to the the weekly poetry night there. I would give The French Quarter ten stars if I could. Thank you for a beautiful evening!!!!!!!
Great food. Crawfish appetizer was awesome. Fried catfish had a great corn meal breading. Fried okra was also fried perfectly. Red gumbo was also fantastic. Cant go wrong on the food here. The setting is cute, in an old manor house with chandeliers. The artwork is great and really evokes new Orleans. The entrance is at the back of the house, which if you park on the street instead of in the parking lot is a bit confusing at first.
I have been going to this restaurant since it was on Goodman in the Park Ave. neighborhood. I have never had any issues with them...I went 2 nights ago to there current location..we went at 5:30 to avoid any crowds and we were the only people there. The woman up front at the phone told us to sit wherever we wanted and said wed have to find the menu online via our phones. So, I can understand not passing around menus, but noticed that all of the tables has salt and pepper shakers...( and they were dirty..you could see fingerprints all over the glass) and they were all close to being empty which suggests they were not filled or cleaned..they shouldnt even be on the tables, actually ( during a pandemic) We looked around and noticed that over half of the light bulbs in the fixtures were out..hmmm...minutes go by...after sitting for 14 minutes with no server, no water, no greeting, etc. , we got up and quietly left. There was the same woman up front chatting it up with who I thought was going to be our server...no one said a word as we left and I can say definitively, we will never ever go back.
This was the best eating experience I have ever had, it was like a trip straight to New Orleans, we treated my sister out for her birthday, and we were highly satisfied, clean environment, great service and had great food, i recommend eating the bayou plate so much flavor. I will be coming back
I loved it. The food was great, the atmosphere was cute and cozy- like that of a home-styled Cafe, and the staff was cordial and very courteous. The spiked passion fruit Bellini was wonderful - the aroma was so wonderful, you had to consciously drink it slower to make it last. Lots of crawfish in our dishes and the catfish was delicious. The serving sizes were ample so we got to take a little home for a next day treat! Prices were between $11-$14 for our dishes which was on par for the course. Take someone you like/love so you can enjoy the atmosphere and cuisine in this quaint New Orleans type restaurant!
This down home sit-down eatery is located in what was once a grand home, the Brewster-Burke House, and may be a bit hidden when you arrive since theres not a lot of signage.Once you get inside, however, its unmistakable decor feels welcoming and you can tell from the smiles on the faces of the patrons that youre in for a treat. The staff is friendly and attentive and the portions were generous. The food did not disappoint and prices were on par with the quality. Highly recommended!
Wonderful creole influenced cuisine. Great service and decor. Loved the atmosphere created by the decorations and the jazz music. I definitely want to try other menu items. My sister frequents this place and she quite the discerning patron, so that alone earns points. Definitely worth revisits. Only serves dinner at this point though.
Delicious po’ boy sandwich, great value.I got takeout during the lockdown, so I didn’t experience the ambiance or service, but the dining room looks lovely. My blackened catfish po’ boy was outstanding. Two tender thin filets, well seasoned. There were several interesting sides to choose from; I should maybe have been more adventurous, but the sweet potato fries were good, with a crisp sugary texture. I’ve heard the desserts are the best part of the menu, and the banana pudding that I saw another patron pick up looked amazing.
Food tasted alright at first but the dirty rice is really dirty, I found a piece of long curly hair that WAS NOT mine then after sending it back and getting new rice I continued to eat my cafe chicken wings and found a BLONDE curly hair. Would not recommend. Also service was bad.
This place was amazing in all ways to customer service our Waiter. The food was so delicious 😋 there no words to say how good it was. The prices are unbelievable low for what you get. What more could I say this is me and my wife favorite place to eat in Rochester. Lovely restaurant will be going back!
Never had bad service or experience till today and it’s my birthday weekend. Never again the (Alfredo) with noodles was very dry. I asked to get it remade or receive a refund the manager denied the request and said that’s how the chief makes it. The employee that answered the phone wasn’t very knowledgeable about how they do refunds or just didn’t care.
I have been here more than 5 times. I have eaten alot of things on their menu and I have never been disappointed! The prices are affordable and the service is always good. I love the scenery, the decor is tasteful! One of my go to restaurants when I want some good food.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here about a week ago. We were a party of 8, and we shared several appetizers and each had our own entree which was all delicious! Food was piping hot and seasoned perfectly. Gumbo, wings and seafood dishes were particularly excellent. Atmosphere is roomy and cozy with great New Orleans artwork. Cant beat the prices as well. Will definitely be visiting again, and highly recommend to others!
Food was good. But service needs some work. No condiments (even salt & pepper, let alone hot sauce) at the tables. No side plates offered with appetizers (had to ask for silverware even). Our server was very nice, but they seemed under-trained and short staffed (it was 6pm).
Fantastic. Really authentic feeling 1800s mansion with beautiful artwork of NOLA street scenes and musicians. The staff is very friendly and gave me a quick tour. The upstairs promises a spacious performance space and good sized bar. The food is terrific. The bayou plate was super generous sized with vast amounts of crawfish and crispy okra. I cant wait to come back!
Just enough spice to make your lips tingle but so much flavor. My husband ordered the red gumbo. That was super tasty. My sister in law had chicken and sausage gumbo. Im so full and comforted. Then beignets for dessert! The smokey consistency was extremely tasty and filling. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone trying enjoy some good hearty food.
Went to Sunday brunch felt it was too pricey for food that was served. Mac salad was basic, fried potatoes were the kind you get from frozen food section in store. Fried chicken and fish were seasoned well. Never knew price of buffet until I received bill at end of meal
This restaurant was horrible. We traveled from out of town to try there restaurant. First meal was dry and not good so before eating the meal advised it was not good and asked if we could get something different. The manager never checked to see what happened even after we requested to speak with him. He refused to come talk to us and said my husband should pay for his meal he did not want and pay for the replaced meal as well which also was not good. Very poor customer service and out of four meals none were really good. I will never come back to the restaurant or ever recommend anyone. Horrible
Order the RED GUMBO and it was awful. Nothing like gumbo. More like canned soup with a crab keg and shrimp. Gumbo was so watery. Establishment was freezing cold felt like there was no heat. Also ordered the friedchicken (10 piece) wasnt seasoned at all. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant and would never come back. Nothing about this speaks Southern.
As others have said, the wait/service here can be horrible depending on the waitress you get. On my last visit the place was about half full and we had a table of 2. It took 15 mins to get a drink, about an hour to get our appetizers, and another 45+ mins to get the entrees. At no point in time did the waitress come over to apologize or say their would be a wait. If it wasnt for the fact it was a birthday dinner, I would have walked out after I finished my cocktail. We even flagged down another waiter to see where our waitress and meals were and she STILL didnt apologize or say anything when she finally showed up with the food. We watched at least 2 other tables get seated, eat appetizers & entrees, and pay their checks before we got our entrees. 1 table even ordered the same appetizers and got their food well before we did. The food is decent but it is not worth the horrible customer service. I have had better service here with a larger group & when the place was packed. Im willing to give them one more try but I refuse to get the same waitress again.
This place is honestly horrible. Negative stars would be the most appropriate rating for this place. No customer service. We had a party of 12. After waiting 40 minutes at the table with only our drink orders taken. The server brought the wrong drink to the table. When the server (Stephanie) was asked to bring the correct drink and remove the incorrect drink from the bill,(which was full only one sip was taken) she took the drink and said she would have to speak with her manager about removing it (She was very nasty). After another 10 minutes the manager comes to the table and says they cannot remove the incorrect drink but the can bring another drink. He said he would bring the drink that was passed around and taken upstairs but he would not simply exchange the drinks. Its gross to pass a drink several times after over 10 minutes and think it okay to bring back. Very nasty very rude. Not the way you treat guest from out of state. Do yourself a favor and choose any place else to eat.
Waitress was non attentive and as a Louisiana native and eating at this restaurant 3 times. I’ve never been more disappointed. It didn’t even come close to bayouan food. Especially the gumbo. It’s never made in tomato sauce, where’s the southern drawling drooling taste? Rochestarians don’t be fooled.
Good food but terrible service. Lacking managerial knowledge and skills, as well as communication skills. They lack time-management skills, and will overbook partys, with only 3 waiter/waitresses, with the cook being the manager, who will refuse to entertain your grievances, with even a liability on their ground. Hence, not having a way for consumers to express a grievance, w/o unethically becoming sarcastic, and confrontational. Therefore, lacking accountability, and all the ethics necessary to run a business. Not to mention, making my mother very upset, who was also the birthday girl. Never again, along with many in our party who got their food To Go; as well as my mother and myself.
This place is a hidden gem, and I would recommend it to anyone - although thier menu is not extensive, its absolutely delicious. Seafood is usually not my first choice but the catfish etoufee was amazing. The service and atmosphere was great as well. I cant wait to go back!
What a great restaurant and an awesome venue! Immediately upon entry into the restaurant you are instantly transported to NOLA! The decor, the colors, the quintessential jazz music and the paintings place you squarely on Bourbon Street. The food was as authentic as if you were in NOLA prepared by native Cajuns! No matter what you order, it is true cajun cooking. Save room for the Benignets, since they are as close the Cafe du Monde as you can get here in Rochester. They are made fresh and delivered warm and sugary which pairs perfectly with the coffee. Another added benefit is the art work that surrounds you and if you are really awed by a particular painting, they are all for sale. The French Quarter is a well kept secret that needs to be shared.
I used to live in Louisiana and this restaurant is true to its name. The staff is very nice, they decorated the building well, and the food is something that is special to me. They are true to the Louisiana style of cooking. I try and eat here at least once a week cause its so good!
This place is a hidden gem in Rochester, the only restaurant I know that has successfully created that authentic creole taste. The shrimp ettufee is my favorite. You can tell each dish is made with love. The menu is simplistic, because the recipes have been mastered. I know they’ll forever be a top choice. They also have take-out and a bar which adds to its charm.
This place is a gem. I enjoy my dining whenever I eat here, whether it’s to go or dine-in. Their chicken wings are my favorite, along with their étouffées & their beignets which are fantastic. It’s neat to see a couple of the young kiddos who used to put waters on the tables, as servers now. If you want a taste of New Orleans, here you go. From the building, to the food, to the music and the colorful art on the walls; you will get it. I’ve witnessed their growth from Arnett Blvd to S. Goodman St. to Spring St. as a patron, and trust me their food is still just as tasty!
I want to personally thank the staff we have a wonderful time. We had a party of eight and the food all came out on time and hot. Staff were so nice to us and extended excellent customer service. The food and the establishment was excellent. I had the fried fish, smoked chicken and sausage gumbo, fried okra and the corn macque choux. Unfortunately we forgot the closing time on Friday night, as we were having so much fun the time slipped up on us. The staff never let on to us that the time had passed and was so pleasant and gracious to us. I had a wonderful experience and look forward to returning with my family soon.
Parking is a little difficult. If you take exit 14 for broad off 490 West, its your first left but then it becomes a one way or something. So make sure you just park in the parking lot where it tells you youll get towed because theres literally no where else to park for this place. The entrance is in the back which wasnt hard to find. We had reservations for two. We waited over 50 minutes to be seated though we were acknowledged after ten minutes of arriving. A few came later, have reservations were seated first. So already an hour in, we look at the menu and get our drinks in. We wait another 5 for the drinks. Get our order in an app and two entrees. The app took 45 minutes and the entrees took an additional 45. Every other table had their entrees and were almost done while we waited for the app. The waiter never came by to ask how the food was or tell us sorry for the wait. Everyone just seemed really annoyed with working but keeping busy to not get yelled at. So after we ate we waited for boxes, the waiter stopped by two times, once to tell us he didnt have boxes for any soup like food and the other time to tell us he did. We wait another twenty for a check. The check finally comes and we wait another fifteen for then to come back with the receipt. It was seriously so time consuming. I recommend this place if you have nothing else to do but wait for food too be served to you. The food is pretty decent but I think they might kick you out if you say you needed some salt or pepper.I saw other people get served and seated instantly. So IDK if it was just my party or what, but my experience didnt seem the best. I wish it was better because I would love to really experience their menu further.Ps I think we should come up with a of a wait doesnt come to pick up the card/cash within 10 minutes, you dont pay.
First time with family and have to said not impress with the food at all. Chicken wings were the only thing that taste good, everything else we order sorry no taste ! Craw fish Fettuccine no sauce on it and when you ask for extra sauce you get charge for it really! The serve was very slow , but I notice the people that were sitting next to us also did not touch there food and took it home, yeah to but more taste to it just saying! Anyways you try everything once right!
Love the food but the service isnt what it use to be. Since the expansion of French quarters they have hired a lot of teens. Most of them move very slow and your waiting 20 mins or more for them to collect your food , check , and to return the check. Seems like each process of the dinning experience is a half an hour .
If youd like a little bit of New Orleans in down town Rochester, this is the place. The food here tasted closer to Louisiana than weve tested before without taking the trip south. Best of all it is in the hearty of Rochester, in a restored historical building. The food here is just fantastic. Fresh seafood, delicious Étouffée. They were packed but we were served very fast. This is a must visit restaurant if your a Rochester native.
Never again. My friend and I decided to go for the first time. We walked in and were ignored. 3 employees passed us without greeting us or asking if we were ready to be seated. Im not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves, but there were no signs indicating that, and none of the employees acknowledged us to ask or direct us. We stood in the foyer conversing for at least 10 minutes before we realized no one bothered to greet us.My friend really wanted to try the food so we waited another 15 minutes. We decided to find out how long we had to stand there before being acknowledged. Unfortunately for us, we never were. It was business as usual for them as employees walked past us and served others. Talk about rude and awkward!I dont believe in making businesses take my money, so I was not about to pull an employee aside to ask to be seated. Clearly they didnt care about our support, so I talked my friend into leaving. That wasted 30 minutes of my life Ill never get back. Never again. This restaurant gets 👎🏽👎🏽
A group of friends and I come here at least once a month and I must say the food and service is tremendous! You can bring your own wine which is always a plus. We were just here this past Saturday and while it was very busy my group of 16 enjoy themselves very much so. Our server emeece (pardon the spelling) was very attentive and friendly; always making sure my group was doing great. It saddens me to see such a negative review about them when I have yet to come across anything negative while patroning their business. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in the Rochester area and definitely worth a visit!
I had been here one time before yesterday (about 2-3 weeks ago) and i had a bad experience with the waitress and the food took forever to come out. An hour wait and she was rude? UGH. So i decided to give it another go yesterday and i must say my experience was SO much better. great food. Just a long wait. Got a different waitress and im so glad we did because we loved her! my waitress was so nice and she kept checking on us, refilling our waters, and gave us great advice about what to eat and drink from the bar (which has some awesome drinks) it amazed me that she just recently started because she did a great job! Highly recommend the red gumbo or any of the etoufe (i know its spelled wrong haha) but so good! Just be prepared to be there a while. Especially on a friday or saturday night.
Was kinda disappointed.. Hard to find, no sign, dark alley downtown, super friendly waitstaff which was a plus, loved the building and art on the walls but a random Sonos playing. . The vibe didnt remind me of the bright, uplifting vibe of new orleans. The food lacked character, (A - eggnoodles are not the same as linguini) and B while the food was not offensive all I could really taste was butter and cream. I wanted something on the edge of being too spicy, a little more seafood taste, something. Ive lived in the pan handle and I know southern food. It seemed to me that these decisions were coming from the top. To the person/s in charge.. Take a chance, you spent all that money on that big building how about some live music, spicy creole food, and just some energy in the place. Server was nice and the host was nice. Will try back in the summer.
I had a really positive experience. First of all, this place is gorgeous! Second of all, the staff is so sweet and attentive! Third of all, their food is amazing and their cocktail list is impressive. The food absolutely compares to New Orleans. The crawfish étouffée was superb, I ate the whole thing plus an appetizer and I was full for miles and days (not literally). I cant wait to try one of everything! Another added perk is that this place is full of art and culture. French quarter needs to be on everyones list.
Ordered my food at 622pm to be exact and was told to give them 45 min.arrived at or around 720ish foor still not done,Im fine with it as it was very busy..sooo now its 8pm and the lady says another 5-10 min.wait what not to mention 3 ppl came after me and got thier food..get my food at 805pm get home only to find out they didnt give me the Ice cream I requested and instead of 10 whole wings we got 9 party wings.called and the owner says my order was 1 of the last orders going out n its nothing they can do..Im so disgusted with the way they handled me as ove been worh them when they only had 3 tables on east ave. Total waste of my 45$
When you arrive at this Beautiful Historic Home thats been converted into a Louisiana creole style Restaurant you have no idea whats in store for you behind that RED DOOR. Let me tell you what awaits you. Its a clean & very well kept establishment. Its Ambiance is very INVITING & COMFORTABLE with beautiful colors & decor. They have music playing loud enough to get the feel but not so much to where you have to yell to be heard over it. Everytime Ive come in its been BUSY which of course means a wait.🤷🏽♀️ My solution for that is Just bring good company with you & you wont pay how long of a wait much attention (unless youre starving of course & see so much goodness being served to the other tables around you..Then yes..you may get a little hangry if thats the case lol). The servers are always nice & will gladly explain dishes if you have any questions which is a plus if youre unfamiliar with creole dishes & their ingredients..Order an app & a drink or better yet bring in a bottle of your favorite wine & pay the $5 corking fee(per bottle) by the time your apps are gone the CREOLE HEAVENS will open up and your food will be placed in front of you. Be sure to bless the food & hands that prepared and served it and ENJOY. Whether you order the Etouffe.. Gumbo..Catfish..or Jambalaya you CANT go wrong. I usually get the cafe wings with shrimp/chicken etouffe and MY FAVORITE SIDE DISH THE CORN MAQUE CHOUX (pronounced: Mock Shoe) Youve gotta try it.. TRUST ME..its AMAZING..So if youre lookin for something very flavorful & a bit different from the food at the usual chain restaurants TREAT yourself dont cheat yourself & stop by The French Quarter.Oh & I did say treat yourself right..😋😍😊Try the peach cobbler orGet some beignets just for you or to share and make a powdery sugar mess of yourself and those with you before you go.
Pros: the food was outrageously delicious: fried shrimp po boy, deep fried ocra, jambalaya, and the Etouffee I could eat with a spoon its that good. Decor inside is fun and reminded me a lot of New Orleans. The food menu is CHEAP. And I mean I was pleasantly surprised when it was decent portion sizes and absolutely tasty.Cons: the drink menu leaves a LOT to be desired. They need to get a bartender in there that has some craft cocktail experience it would really elevate the restaurant. Also, they expected me to pay $10 or more for a screwdriver?! Thats just OJ and vodka. I pay $10 for a craft cocktail at places in the city that are known for their craft cocktail menus. They also had a miserable selection of beers and wines. The hours are strange, and even after we got there at 7pm for reservations, we werent eating our meals until 8:00pm+ and I felt like the place was closing by the time we were done with our meals. I asked for extra Etouffee to go and our party waited 15 minutes on it. It wasnt explained to me that it may be made to order, and it seemed like that wasnt a strange request but it took forever. But honesty, the food was SO worth it. It made me miss New Orleans - its worth checking out if youre not in a rush.
The food and clientele are amazing here. Although we have waited numerous times to see our waiter and to get food. I would definitely come back but hope that they get the wait time to decrease bc it was over 20 mins we waited to just put our order in. On top of waiting to have our bills as well.
We waited over a hour for our food. Had to get up and ask for water after 30 mins. Some of my partys food never came so we just shared with each other. They also put a party deal on and tipped 20 percent and it was the worse service. A real shame that the service doesnt match the taste
My favorite local spot! I’ve been coming here since they were on Arnett Blvd and I’ve loved them more with every move. The food is AMAZING. My fav is the red gumbo. You’re not going to believe the prices, especially for the amount of food you receive. The service is great, such a family like atmosphere. PLEASE try the crawfish boudin balls for appetizer and the beignets for dessert. You won’t be disappointed.
Overall, an affordable and filling cajun restaurant in Rochester. The food is delicious, well-seasoned, and filling. Service is about average. For this type of food in Rochester, I always go here. I am a repeat customer.Im a student and working with a tight budget. If you only order an entree, you can get out cheap and you definitely wont leave hungry. Of course, theres other options too if you want to order more. The appetizers are delicious and an alcohol menu is available too. Average entree cost is between $8-14.Crawfish étouffée, fried catfish, and crawfish fettuccine were big wins for me. The food is actually mild but you can ask for hot sauce. If you want cajun food but have someone in your group who doesnt like spicy, they should enjoy this too.Service is average. I had no bad experience, but nothing stood out or was exceptional to me.Ill definitely be back!
So unprofessional. My family and I had reserved a table for 20 for my baby shower and they made it seem like we never made one. Then they booted us to a wobbly table and just left our food sitting out to get cold at a completely different table. When we asked for the manager the waitress told us he was too busy but left his name and number. I couldnt believe how we were treated. I bet if we were white or elderly they wouldnt have done is like that. This is why some black owned businesses dont thrive, rediculous! 👎👎👎👎👎
Im from Baton Rouge and I 100% approve of the food here! Shrimp etoufee hot and delicious. We enjoyed beaucoup beignets. Decor was beautiful and the paintings that were available for purchase added that great Louisiana charm to the place. Ethan and the rest of the staff were fast and friendly too.
Came in stood 10 min. Before offered a seat sat another 10 people came on after us were being seating so i had to once again say something they apologized finally sat us another 25 min had to ask if we had a waitress waitress come ask to dpeak to management they sd they had no one charge thay dent have a manger. Waitress came took order food came had no silver was offered donuts thrn took twent for them too come this is no lie worst experience whiever. In my 53 yrs and i had some bad ones i felt like a golored person in a segregated restaurant , who dont serve coloreds this is the French Quarters in rochester i have been here msny msny times when thry were over in southwedge
Working in the restaurant business I am very lenient about service but this was by far THE worst I have ever experienced. We waited at least 30-40 minutes for a server to come over to us even though we had made reservations for a birthday our party was that of only 10 people. Our server never once introduced herself asked for drinks or anything of that matter nor warned us we would be there waiting because they had to accommodate a larger group. When we received out food we had no utensils no napkins and again no drink refills, mind you we had not one but to pregnant women with us. When we asked to speak to a manager the server literally snapped her fingers at my friend and proceeded to tell us her brother was the owner and couldnt come out. Im not quite sure who spoke with us she was kind but also yet again unprofessional and completely unaware of anything going on. This place was what I would say for lack of better words a JOKE.. Im not sure who in their right mind runs any kind of establishment like this but they are clearly Im the wrong business
So I went there yesterday and it was the worst experience EVER. The food is over priced. It seems as though they buy their products; boxed from local grocery stores and dress up with their own finishing touch. Now Ive been to Louisiana, and their food was exquisite. The French Quarter is an imitation. Their food is over priced, cheap quality. Peach cobler was horrible. I ordered catfish with potatoes and dirty rice. The catfish was the biggest thing on my plate. And the potatoes were homefires and you can tell the rice was boxed, sprinkled with cajun on top. Even the soda was bad. Taste like it came from a bottle and it was flat. Their not an established restaurant. The whole place looks like ita falling apart and could use some maintenance. Also the service was very poor. I told them I wasnt satisfied with my food and they said they werent going to refund me......at first. LMAO. They need to do better and they need to improve on getting what they need to better their setting like soda machines, speakers for music so that we cant see their wires and plugs as they play music off someones phone lol, they need MORE MONEY to make it a REAL RESTURANT. What kinda reaturant doesnt give free refills?? Cheap people who cant afford tip of the line, quality merchandise. And they need to DEEP CLEAN their place and get that patch off the ceiling.....yea I seen that. Patches everywhere. And mop their floors.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful Valentines Day meal at the French Quarter. The ambiance is very romantic and pleasantly unique. The fried cat fish and etoufee (spelling??) were delightful! My boyfriend had the gumbo. Fabulous. We just took a trip to New Orleans this past autumn. Rochesters own French Quarter restaurant has arguably better food.
I had my birthday party here on August 22nd, 2015, with a party of over 20 people. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and I will be back. I recommend French Quarter to everyone in Rochester. I prefer to spend my money on a local business, and the food is AMAZING. Hits every single time!
Ive been here many times and loved it but the service I had tonight I will never go back. Waited 45 min just for water messed up our drink order didnt know it till after trying them they charged us for the messed up drink saying we drank them so they cant refund them.shouldnt take 2 hours for a table of 4 to eat dinner
I cant review the food our service since I have never been there. The website gives dinner hours and when I called the answering machine gives different hrs. I have called multiple times and left a message but never received a call back. I finally drove there during dinner service hrs only to find it closed.
As a son of Louisiana I was excited to hear about the FQC. The ambiance is impeccable! I felt like visiting Moms cousins in the older Garden District. The Etuffe was creamy albeit mild. The popcorn Crawfish were crispy. The only thing missing was the lagniappe. All in all, I was glad to have found it and will be back.

2022-03-01The food was slappin. Absolutely, wholeheartedly delicious. The building reminded me of my time spent in NOLA and the food deff did as well. Prices are spot on and they dont skimp on the portion sizes. The drink prices are a bit higher than Id like and hurricane wasnt NOLA but I didnt go there for drinks. I went there for good eats and some French Quarter atmosphere and this place didnt disappoint. Ill be going back often.

2021-12-02I went this restaurant today along with a friend who’s gon here multiple times and we both had the worst experience ever. The waitress we had was amazing but the chef or manager I would say. Rude and unprofessional. I ordered the crawfish fettuccine and I was highly disappointed with the taste , and look. It was very bland, I added salt and pepper did nothing . My waitress noticed my food wasn’t eating and I told her about the situation and that the food was unappealing. She offered to bring something else out and take off the last item off my bill. Later on in speaking to her manager he told her that the food couldn’t been taking off the bill. Multiple times she’s went back to her manager and we even asked to speak to him and he denied to speak to among not taking the food off our bill. It’s not the price of the item, $12 is nothing. But as a customer, and after being dissatisfied and not even touching the food why would you not opt for customer service. And to not even speak to the customer after multiple attempts ? Highly disappointed. As a black owned business we have to learn to treat our customers better !

2022-02-20The food is excellent but don’t order for carryout. I placed an order at 6:15pm, and was told in the order confirmation that the order would be ready for pickup at 6:45. After arriving I waited til 7:30 and my order still wasn’t ready, and I wasn’t the only one waiting either. It’s mind blowing that a single order would take over an hour to prepare. If you like NOLA style food this is the place to go, as long as you don’t mind a long wait.

2022-05-05Love the atmosphere any time, rather dinner for two, event or party. Every visit has been a good experience. Food is delicious and served rather quickly. Great mixed drinks. All affordable. Will be back and will definitely recommend this place to others.

2021-06-17The Red Gumbo was delicious not going to lie. I tried the fried chicken as well and it was very good too. Service was great but didnt really feel like a restaurant. I would definitely recommend to go out and try it.

2022-05-01Terrible service. Weird menu nothing to accommodate children and if you dont like your food they will not allow you to switch it or take it off your bill. Out of 20 people maybe 5 of them actually liked their food. Makes sense why the server never asked how everything was. Our manager server literally never came back to fill our drinks or anything and had to hunt her down for the bill as our whole party was leaving

2022-06-04Just had another spectacular meal from The French Quarter. I try to order something different and tonight was no exception.our Oder was delivered with great care and everything was correct. I was happy to see that cocktails are now being offered. I had the mint sweet tea and my wife had the pina colada. Both were great. Keep up the great work
