Called night before to see how late they were serving brunch. Told 2:30. Drove 2.5 hours to take our son out. Showed up at 2:15. No brunch. I guess I wouldn’t be so annoyed if I hadn’t called and been told they would serve until 2:30. So brunch until 2:30 IF they feel like it. Just lazy. Not impressed. Lunch food nothing special. One person served 15 minutes after rest of table. Not worth it.
Came here for Sunday brunch with a group of 5.Service was meh (service took incredibly long and our food was not all delivered at once), drinks and food was meh, and the prices on the bill did not match the prices shown on the menu. All in all, we didn’t hate our time but it has been better spent elsewhere.
I love this place strange hours (closed mom-wed) but they have excellent brunch Saturday and Sunday. The building is bright and inviting, the portions are generous and the menu is surprisingly well rounded. The bar has a few staples advertised (think bloody Mary, mimosa, Wine slushie) but is well stocked so you could theoretically order anything
We loved this place. We sat and had a delicious breakfast and watched the World Cup on the beautiful televisions and everyone we interacted with was nice. Then we went outside and had one drink on the porch and stayed for 3 hours because we met the family and they were so great. Its nice to see a family operated business that loves each other in a family neighborhood. We will definitely be back!
This was our second visit and it was just as awesome as the first. The cinnamon bun is a MUST have. It’s seriously incredible. Their brunch French Toast Casserole is also very good. My wife had a mimosa and I had coffee. Coffee is great. Only downfall is that there are not free refills so anyone who typically drinks more than one mug should be aware of that. EDIT: As noted below by staff, there are Free Refills, just not to-go refills. I highly recommend the place and their outdoor patios are awesome too! One last thing...the customer service is fantastic. Very personable workers that really make you feel welcome.
For brunch, The Garage is a perfect quick stop for couples or a family. Their menu is not too big to make an easy choice. Their confections are scratch made, including their famous cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing. The French toast casserole is a rich delight, and perfect to share between two people for a small treat.
This cafe is located in what used to be a autoshop. Awesome idea! I needed a tune-up in the form of coffee. The cafe has developed a reputation for their cinnamon rolls. This cafe acquired a liquor license, and just opened a beer garden called The Wrecking Yard that ranks high on character. Its Hertel Aves first true beer garden!
We went to New Year eve party. Food was outstanding. Music was awesome. Myself, my husband, my mom, sister and brother in law all went and had the best time. You guys went above and beyond on every detail. Would highly recommend. Hope to go back soon. Thank you for such a fun time.
This has become one of my new favorite bars/ restaurant. It has a great selection on tap, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the food has been awesome every time. The staff is attentive and very friendly. When my family was in town, I took them here and they still bring up how awesome the food was.
NY Eve was absolutely awesome, the staff, the food was far beyond what we expected & presented so beautifully. The decorations, Music was great. All the attention to detail- tables decorated with festive Noise makers, hats, it was noticed & very appreciated. Great Job Guys, we had a great time ❤ Thank you for making our NY Eve Special!
Went to the Garage and had The Ferrari ($10) sandwich and it was so good! Served on a hoagie roll, this giant piece of breaded cutlet comes with a chips and a homemade dip.Highly recommended sandwich and I look forward to heading back to try some of the other ones. Also of special note, the PICKLES! The pickles that come with the sandwiches are so good! Ask for extra. Youll be glad you did.
Our server Lisa was lovely, funny, and attentive even though she was all alone and already attending to multiple tables. The . food . was . DE-LI-CIOUS!!! 😋🤤 I suggested to her that they sell their chip dip in local grocery stores and she said I was the eighth person this week that suggested that! 🤤 I ordered a smoothie that was a combination of all 3 of the flavors they offered, they happily obliged, and it was SOOOOOO FRUITY & REFRESHING in the 90° weather (we sat on their patio that thankfully has an awning)!!! I said they could name the combo smoothie after me 😄...only time will tell if they will. 😆😅
Fantastic cafe for breakfast and coffee! Im a huge fan of cinnamon rolls and so many people told me that The Garage has some of the best cinnamon rolls in the area. They werent wrong! We also tried some of their cookies and that the Garage proved that they know how to bake! The best surprise though was their coffee. We just got regular black ready brew coffee and it was incredible. Some of the best coffee around and it paired so well with our baked goods! On top of that, the staff there were incredibly friendly. Well be back for sure.
Fantastic breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was delicious! I really wanted to eat another one, but I just couldn’t. And then those cinnamon rolls. Oh man. My friend would let me have more than a bite because of my diabetes, but my god, that one bite. Amazing! If you go for breakfast, GET A CINNAMON ROLL! So I can live vicariously through everyone else.
Our server was very nice, she regularly checked on us to make sure we were still doing well. We sat outside on the patio and it was very pleasant. I got the giant pretzel, chicken fingers, and the garage burger with fries. Everything was delicious, but the giant pretzel and fries stood out the most. The fries were thick and crispy with good seasoning, and you cant go wrong with a pretzel and beer cheese! Their menu has good variety, with wraps, salads, pizzas, burgers, and a good selection of various appetizers. Will definitely return when I come back to Hertel!
Menu looks great and great atmosphere. Unfortunately we were sat by the host and the waited for roughly 20 minutes without any kind of service or acknowledgement at all. Meanwhile tables sat after us were served. Final devide to try our luck elsewhere. Disappointed we did get to try the food qw have heard great reviews for.
Mom and I came today right when they opened for an early Mothers Day breakfast. Couldnt have asked for better food or nicer people. She had coffee and a breakfast sandwich with hashbrowns. I had a latte and the breakfast plate with over easy eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. We also got a cinnamon bun to go which we had later and it was delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked and our server couldnt have been nicer. Such a cool atmosphere too. We will definitely be returning! Thanks!
The Garage is a space you walk into, get greeted by Lisa and immediately feel like youre at your moms house being told to sit down wherever, cause the food will be ready in a minute. By the way, heres a beer. This family owned and operated business has been a staple for those that call Hertel Ave home, for generations. From live music to an incredible bar, you can enjoy this space however you want. Highly recommend their menu and drinks because it is made with love and the story they share with their guests just make you want to stay forever. Swing by and enjoy their experience!- The Buffalo Happy Hour
Carnivores rejoice! This sandwich establishment has a variety of decadent meats: delicious pulled pork, homemade meat balls, and hand battered chicken fingers. The french fries are a must! Order them already!!Vegetarians beware! My wifes salad was unappetizing and she barely touched it. Not a lot of veggie options either, so it would be a tough sell for her in the future. Finally, it was a bit pricier than I would have thought. Overall, a good restaurant, a great one if you are craving a meaty sandwich and a drink.
Love the vibe of this fun restaurant. Arrived with the brother and niece. The food was really delicious and the bartender was really attentive to our orders. I ordered the Greek chicken roll up and it was delicious. Brother had the steak hoagie and the niece ordered brunch. The amount of food was amazing and very delicious. Cooked to perfection. This is a neighborhood place as we ran into other people we knew . I am definitely coming back!!
I have only been to the garage once, but I will DEFINITELY be back. I ordered the triumph panini and it was amazing. Only $10 and I feel like that is such a good price, for the panini, chips, and their house chip dip (more of a spicy aioli but it was so good). I ordered take out and it was a fast process, everyone was friendly. I also got their special cinnamon buns which are $7 each (!!!). I think thats a little steep but they are good to split with a friend and a really delicious and fun treat. I highly recommend!
Relaxed crowd owners very friendly polite sophisticated casual has all the capabilities is a small business entity would would recommend it trying to establishment because of the music comfortable atmosphere neighborhood crowd and you dont feel any attitude when you walk in as a first time looking forward to going there again loved all the familiar old neighborhood West side North Buffalo adult faces
A really chill neighborhood cafe. They have pretty solid brunch offerings in a laid back atmosphere. I took one star off because I didnt like the French toast bread pudding and the latte my husband ordered was really sweet and barely tasted of coffee (he liked it, but hes not much for coffee. Everything else we ordered was good. People rave about their giant homemade cinnamon rolls. Im looking forward to enjoying their outdoor beer garden this coming summer.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable, the food we had was very good (meatball subs were definitely top end)! The downside that takes stars off is as follows; dinner at 6-ish on a Saturday night for a party of 12 was nicely accommodated and comfortably seated but we were told at the onset that there were only 3 hamburgers available. This is the signature dish and more than half of the party had to settle for other than what they were hoping for. Really? Only 3 hamburgers available on a Saturday night at prime time? That is a giant fail that disappointed all, especially our out of town guests
We love the Garage Cafe! Its a great little treasure on Hertel. The food is excellent and the staff is always so accommodating. We voted for them for Buffalos best Bloody Mary and couldnt believe they didnt win 🙁 I love what theyve done with the back and look forward to enjoying more music filled nights this summer!
Havent quite figured this place out. Its big and echoey, I like the car theme, but I thought it was a coffee shop. Its not really, its a restaurant. I went the first time and it was closed during hours they advertised as open. They advertised sweet cinnamon rolls but so far they never have them when I was there. The second time I ordered a drink and cookie and the cookie tasted day old. The cappuccino meh. I think just because you have an espresso maker, it really doesnt make you a coffee shop. I went back one more time for lunch, the food was not bad, service was minimal and slow. It seemed understaffed and the guy was doing several things at once, he was nice but couldnt keep up with everything by himself. The prices were high for Hertel. Burgers and sandwiches were 10-14$ kind of steep for the place. It was a good size burger. Dont think Ill be back.
My husband and I had lunch here on Valentines Day. This was our first visit at the Garage Cafe & Lounge and I must say, it will not be our last. Customer service was on point from the time we walked in the door up until we left. Our meals were fresh and delicious. My husband is hard to please when we go out to eat and he really enjoyed his meal. Cant wait to try the cinnamon roll so, we will be back.
Ive been here twice now and both times have been great. Simple menu which includes sandwiches, burgers, and salads. They also have a brunch menu which is delightful. Beer, wine, and full bar also available. Super friendly staff with an easy going atmosphere. I may become a regular.
Today, went for lunch, and wow, pleasantly surprised! The menu is extensive and quite delicious! We ordered two sandwiches, and split halves for the variety. The Cadillac - ham, turkey etc pannini and The Fat Boy - meatball hoagie, adding banana peppers. Both were good sized and yummy! Cant wait to go back and try some other varieties.
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Although a bit tragic, I love the story behind the creation of this fantastic new food/entertainment venue!! Panini was great, but the soup is what will probably make us regulars on Tuesdays!!Great conversation with owner Joe who has been a local business owner for more than 2 decades! Cant wait until the weekend to try the homemade cinnamon buns!!
My girlfriends and I went here for lunch a few weeks ago. Very cute place, great: patio, service, and food! Between the three of us we had: peach wine smoothie, mango wine smoothie, greek salad, breakfast platter, and a panini. Everything was great and we will be back!
Love this little cafe. We got the Chevy on Rye, a Bucket of Meatballs and the Chicken Ranch Flatbread. The Chevy was fantastic, the meatballs were really flavorful and the flatbread was excellent as well. Food is well-priced. Friendly owner and staff and a clean, nicely decorated space. Highly recommend.
Stopped here today for the first time for lunch after reading about them in Step Out Buffalo. The cinnamon rolls are delicious and definitely live up to the hype (and I am giving 5 stars just for that). They are also massive, so even with two people sharing we did not finish it. I also ordered the berry pecan salad, which was very good and generously portioned. Everything on the menu sounded good, and Im looking forward to trying the sandwiches. We liked that it was not too busy and there was a really chill vibe. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. There is free wifi and they have tons of outlets (looked like one at every table) with USB ports, which I thought was a very considerate touch. We are planning to go back in the near future for some live music they have on Fridays.
Being in the culinary world my self Im pretty picky about my experience at other establishments. Having said that, this little unassuming place I have passed by 100 times and never noticed... has outdone my expectations. From the friendly and top notch service from all staff to the phenomenal food, I was impressed and completely satisfied. Thank you
I have been coming here for years literally. This used to be a mechanics garage that me and my husband brought our cars to since we were very young! The story behind how this restaurant came to be touches me so much because Ive known the owners forever. The transformation is amazing. I ate here yesterday and I loved the food. The sandwiches are named after cars which is very cool. The baked goods are also not to be forgotten. It was great to see Joe and his wife again and I will be back!
Our Lions Club had a meeting and dinner at the Garage in June. The place used to be a service station and is now a restaurant with a large garage door that opens to the street weather permitting. Our entire party of 9 all enjoyed each of our meals. The restaurant was clean and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Besides food, beer and wine is available. Prices were very reasonable and portions plentiful.
The house specialty burgers are awesome! Theyre as unique and delicious as the restaurant is. No French fries:( only chips, but you probably wont remember once you try the burger. Also the Portabella flatbread pizza with Balsamic glaze is fantastic, as well as plenty big enough for one person.
To be honest wasnt happy at all . The sandwich that I had was store bought bbq beef and the pickled onions you can tell was also not made in house. The person I was with enjoyed his salad . I guess they do live music on the weekends witch is cool but we went during the day and we where the only ones in the place
I hate onions. Unreasonably, I know. I asked clearly for no onions. The cashier acknowledged no onions. I took my familys food home. Opened it up. It was inedible. Tons of onions. This is not a crazy or unclear request. My wifes sandwich was great. My sons sandwich was great. I will probably never go there again.
Me and my bull mastiff, Athena, love it here and it is our favorite place to have brunch! They let you keep your pup on the porch outside and they give us buckets of water. Theres posts to hitch a leash to as well. The waiters are so nice to her too 🤗Its a got a cafe sort of feel; you go up, order, pay at the register, and youre golden. I think they come over to you if you want? But I could be wrong. The menu has a bunch of lunch things (paninis, sandwiches, burgers ect.) to choose from. They also have the BEST brunch cocktails. The food and drinks are very homey and filling- everythings made right there- it tastes like your mom ran to the kitchen to fix you some lunch :)
Driving down the street, we were looking for places to have breakfast. Many others on Hertel hadnt opened yet and they were. I was surprised to have one of the best breakfast sandwiches Ive had in a long time from such an unassuming, easy to miss place. Pro tip. Dont miss this place.
Went to this place on a Wednesday where the website read they were open and it was a homemade sign on the door that said they were closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. What business isnt open Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? Why is this place even open if they arent open most of the week.

2022-01-22Great time. Food was good. Nice presentation and great flavor. Drinks are reasonable and the band was pretty good. Greek salad could have used more feta cheese but peas and pasta with alfredo was delicious. I loved the garlic!

2022-06-30Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Good food. Will be back again. I had the Chevy, wife had the turkey wrap, the other couple had the Fatboy and the burger with the egg. Apps were good too. Italian egg rolls and stuffed banana peppers.

2022-06-13There was a great atmosphere and even better food! I got their signature dish called “the garage burger,” and it was amazing! It was a beef patty, with maple bacon, and a sunny side up egg; maaaaan, if it doesn’t melt in your mouth…🥵

2022-05-01Food tasted great I just had the Bel air burger and a side of wings which were also done well ...full bar and had three cord spirits ..the blended bourbon seemed to me a tad hot on the back end but it did the trick after one I was feeling no pain then on to the amplify rye which I felt was better tasting and smoother ..or I was just drunk after the first drink either way I had fun and good food cant ask for alot more ..

2022-04-17What was once one of my favorite local brunch spots, is no longer the case. Upon ordering the “Giant pretzel”, which is one of our favorites, we were given 3 nearly raw, bread pretzel sticks. When we complained, the server stated they no longer carry the giant pretzel due to supply issues and haven’t changed it on the menu. The 3 pretzel sticks were 10.99! The server never told us this upon ordering. I couldn’t believe the price wasn’t changed given it’s no longer the same item. The chicken and waffles , also another favorite, was not the same. The chicken fingers were inedible. We likely won’t be coming back any time soon, however we are hoping it was just a “bad” day.

2022-04-24Ive been frequenting The Garage since they first opened and have never been disappointed. Lisa, Joe and the entire crew ALWAYS deliver on great food and great service. Oh, and btw, their cinnamon rolls are THE BEST in the 716! Tonight they accommodated our party of 13 and everyone had a fabulous time. If you havent gone yet, what the hell are you waiting for???

2022-02-06Stopped here about 1 pm Sunday for brunch. It was busy and it took a long time for anyone to greet us. We were sent to bar to wait, but they lost track of our name somehow. Finally got a table but were told the breakfast food was all gone. The sandwiches and chips were really good but service was poor. Waitress told us we have to come early for brunch.

2022-06-16Update summer 2022. They did some remodeling but still have the same problems, no music outside, no tv outside, no fan under the bar which feels like and oven, nothing to do in the back patio, etc. panini was good, sandwich was good, bartender was nice, but it was a boring experience…What a gorgeous hidden gem. The food is really good, the drinks are really cold, there are tons of games, Jenga, bag toss, ring toss, darts etc. Great vodka seltzer drinks, local craft beers, and a nice overall vibe. Maybe live music on Fridays and some speakers in the far corner, and maybe a nice propane firepit or two :) will visit again!Update 3/13/21- came for brunch. Draft selection is weak, food was mediocre, not a lot of selections. Also, so drab in here for brunch. Play some music or something. TVs silent, music turned down, feels soooo bland
