TLDR:Having your own home built, is amazing. Its everything we wanted it to be and more. The LMD crew were outstanding.Full Review:We got in on this new build extremely early in the process. Marketing materials were not ready yet, and layouts were still being finalized. We had been looking in the area, at existing homes, and nothing felt right. Its rare to get in on something like this, so early. Its rare to find new builds at the rates they were starting at. It was a no-brainer for us, and we put a deposit down that same day, in June of 2019. They set our expectations accordingly, it was very early, and it would be a while before things got under way. It wasnt until August of 2019, before ground was first broke. We came back in August 2019 to pick our B1 structural options. Think porch, kitchen bump out, basement, deck, etc. It took until February 2020 until the road was first started, and the demo house construction began. Around that time we came back in to start picking our B2 interior selections (cabinets, counter tops, hardware, etc). Then Covid hit. As we all tried to navigate the challenging time, you can imagine things got delayed a bit with all the shutdowns. It wasnt until June 2020, before the full road was complete, and we saw the first signs that things were starting to happen again. Our foundation layout was staked out. Things moved really fast from here. By the time June was over, the foundation had been dug, poured, and the lumber had arrived. By the end of July 2020, the structure was up, and roof was on. By mid August 2020, the siding was on. Once September 2020 had hit, the sheet rock was up. Things slowed down a bit after that mad dash. Getting anything shipped, major appliances, cabinets, was all backlogged due to the pandemic. It wasnt until November 2020 or so, before most of the interior was complete, and we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. We closed on December 29th, and moved in, on New Years Eve 2020.The way these builds are setup, are to allow any and all to try and purchase a new home. The base, is very base. Understand that going in. Everything is an upgrade. This isnt a bad thing. You get to really customize the home, to what fits your life. There are a ton of layouts, and within each, a ton of options. The neighborhood once construction is done, is going to be beautiful. Street lights, sidewalks, trees, all open flat land. You dont really find that in this area. From the sales side, Lauren was awesome. She helped out with some of our selections, and kept us up to date on any and all changes that occurred. She was patient and showed us the house any time we asked. Honestly, with LMD, you are in good hands. The build process can be a stressful one. Just know its all worth it in the end. Keep on top of everything, be very involved in the entire process. Come final walk-through, nothing is off limits. If it seems off, mention it. Test every cabinet, drawer, door, all of it. There is no offense to be taken here. Take your time. Do not feel rushed. This is your house, and there was a ton of people doing work on it. Tom is there to help bring it to a close, so report anything you find. Even if something is missed, they are very good about taking care of things after the fact.We hope this gives you a little insight into the process. Ours was 2 years, yours wont take nearly as long. Come enjoy your new home!
