The Gotham Hotel NY in New York
I stayed in the SKYLINE QUEEN WITH TERRACE room on the 17th floor ! It was absolutely gorgeous! The view was breathtaking. The staff was very pleasant. I will return to stay in the Skyline junior suite with terrace in the spring. I enjoy trading stock options here among the skyscrapers, across from the suits of JP Morgan 🤣
Upon arrival, my room was freezing. The next morning I asked maintenance to come to check out the thermostat because it clearly wasn’t working it was at 62°F. maintenance who basically spoke no English came up with a tiny heater in his hand and told me to use it he wouldn’t even come in the room to check the thermostat… I was staying in the king suiteThe hotel shut off the boiler, by doing so there was no heat. They said it was warm out…it was 49F and raining (May 6th, 2022) ***NYC heat regulations state that between 6 am and 10 pm, the temperature inside your home should be at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit when the temperature outside drops below 55 degrees. It is also illegal to shut the heat off before May 31st.****I asked for the manager, of course, there wasn’t one and they wouldn’t be one for another 2-days. I’m still waiting to hear from management (Kristina Popovic) I’ve already contacted 311 and booking next is my credit card company for a full refund. absolutely stay away from this place!
Had to cancel my parents reservation due to the recent COVID restrictions. Was hoping the hotel would understand and respect the circumstances. The manager was rude and aggressive (I dont care your parents are over 70, its your fault for choosing non-refundable rooms).I canceled more than two weeks in advance, and given the global situation there was room for some consideration. Taking more than $1200 from old people who just had to cancel their trip due to medical conditions? Would never stay in a place that talks like this to their customers.
The staff at the Gotham made our stay amazing. My wife and I our from small town Texas and were a bit overwhelmed by the big city. The staff helped up get around town and find food and even held our bags after we checked out so we could explore more. The room was nice and clean with a comfy bed. The rooms where smaller than I am used to but my understanding thats all of Manhatten. Decent city view as well.. Great stay my wife and I will be back.
I stood in a skyline junior suite with terrace city view priced at $422 on a Wednesday. The pictures online are Amazing! However, the room was very small considering it was one of two suites offered, and you quickly realize that the room is not as large as it seems, square footage being only 200 square feet. That being said it was a nice room, had all the expected amenities , and the terrace was a HUGE bonus. It was decently sized, furnished well and the views were amazing! The room had modern finishes, but some minor cosmetic issues and items which needed replacement / updating (ex. Light switch covers, lamp, thermostat, television) Additionally upon checkout as I went to iron my shirt, the ironing board which opened without issue and was in use for a few moments collapsed without warning. The iron fell to the ground nearly dropping on my toes! This is a huge safety issue! Due to this, the minor cosmetic issues, and the outdated television, I am giving The Gotham hotel 2/5 stars. If these issues are addressed Gotham can certainly be a 4/5 or 5/5 star hotel. Additionally amenities offered in-house are close to non existent. Parking was validated 50% coming to $40 for one night, and gym access is a few blocks away, at a franchise gym which you are given access to. Nice, but not very convenient.
The hotel did not feel like a 4 start hotel, we stayed at the skyline queen room. The room was small, the size on the website includes the terrace. The bathroom is awkward, to use the sink or look at yourself in the mirror you have to go in and close the door because the door is in the way. The room has a smart TV but cant be use, only the cable works. The heater did not work either. They had to bring us two small heaters to warm up the room. The rest of the room looks okay but doesnt seem to get much maintenance, the furniture looks old and dingy. I definitely would not be going back to this hotel.
Ive stayed here many times pre and post covid. They always do a good job cleaning the rooms and the front desk is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are dated compared to some other hotels but still have all the basics. The locations is really the best part of this hotel. Its in a fantastic spot and its easy to walk to anything you need. Ill be back for sure!
I just enjoyed my 2nd stay here and I must say the charming staff had everything to do with it! Netanya at the front desk gets a 5 ⭐️‘S in the sweetness catergory. Manager Kristina is right there as well. Handsome Julian deserves an honorable mention for being nice as can be!The entire staff was great! The maintenance guys remembered me and I had a nice chat and a laugh with them. The cleaning gals are The Best !!! Darling lady’s !!I’ll let my pics describe the room, junior suite w/ king bed and balcony. High floor, I seriously have never slept so deeply in my life. Super cool building with so much private outdoor space . I highly recommended, especially for the Amazing shower. Best water pressure! Love it❤️❤️❤️
My stay at the Gotham hotel could not have been better. The room was immaculate, the bed was large and comfortable, the room mini-fridge was well-stocked and the room service was top notch. The hotel location is also next to all of the main attractions in time square which is a huge bonus. I highly recommend the Gotham!
This hotel is okay. I only booked a stay here because the popular hotels were booked up for valentines day weekend. The room they gave me had a phone that didnt work so i had to use my cell. This hotel is very boring, no amenities, pool jacuzzi, spa, gym nothing. So if your here for business only, this would be perfect for you. If your looking for fun, book somewhere. The only thing it did like is that it is walking distance to times square .
Beautiful hotel , I was nervous about the other reviews but we enjoyed our stay here for a few nights , very comfortable bed . Balcony was a beautiful view 😍 , easy walk to time square probably 5 minutes , overall a beautiful hotel, we stayed in a suite on the 16th floor .
This hotel is gorgeous once you get past the crummy lobby .The bedroom was spacious with chic finishes. The bathroom had plenty of shower space with a rain shower head Maintenance was awesome. We had an issue with our television and they fixed it right away. The cute notes they leave when you check in are definitely memorable . I’d stay again
I have not had my stay yet but I had to write a great review about Lazar Mlinaric. I had some trouble with my online booking and called the hotel and I must say I am way more excited to stay here than I was before !! He is such an amazing person with great energy and really helped as much as he could !!! And was so very much patient the whole conversation. Thank you so much again Lazar !! I haven’t visited yet but I know my time here will surely be amazing !
Good location in regards to times square. The room was nice with a balcony. Would be very nice if were a little warmer. The door to the balcony would not open, but someone came up to fix it. The bathroom was a little tight. The bed and pillows were very soft, too soft for us. The room was very clean. The restaurant was great. Wanted to get breakfast room service but was told by the front desk they are closed on sundays. Did not see that stated anywhere online or on information in the room.
Great hotel in great location, accessible from Grand Central Station and walking distance from many attractions. Our room (31) was clean and spacious. We was worried about noise from the street below but it was fine, especially after we realised you could turn the AC unit off. Friendly and helpful staff on reception pointed us next door for breakfast where there was a great selection of food and drinks, freshly made and very popular as the queue at 9am was long but moved quick. Pay for your food and coffee then go downstairs and eat it. Very handy! All in all a great stay and will recommend it.
The rooms are decently sized for Manhattan, and recently renovated from what I can tell. Even the cheapest room they had has a little balcony, although its barely wide enough to stand on. I had a great experience and the staff were super friendly! My only complaint is the rooms are DARK and theres very little lighting. I had one lamp to light the entire room, since there was no overhead lighting or other lamps past the entryway/bathroom area. But its a small complaint. Good hotel, and it was fairly cheap!
Location of the hotel is great. Room was clean and had all amenities for basic necessities. However the room was very dark, there is a lack of proper lighting , and I am not kidding !!! Drapes in the window were closed shut and affixed, I was not able to move them to at least let the day light in.The front desk people were polite, but that was the extend of the service.I asked for room service, and although it was confirmed in person, it never happened. This hotel does not deserve the stars it has. This place lacks personality, and uniqueness , it is just blah...I suppose that would be fine, if it was a lot less money...I have stayed in New York in lower star hotels with much much better service and amenities, for a faction of cost !!!
One of my favourite hotels ever. From the amazing view overlooking Times Square in Manhattan to the comfortable foam king sized matress. Comfort...rest and relaxation in the room...with a world of things to do just steps away located in the busy heart of Manhattan NYC! I really appreciate the hotel going the extra mile by providing a large variety of treats upon arrival. Ill definitely be back!
Super friendly and courteous staff from the moment I arrived til the minute I left. My flight arrived well before my room was ready, but the hotel staff was able to hold my luggage and gave me a call when my room was ready. They did the same on departure day, check out time was ahead of my flight, but the staff was able to hold my luggage. The room was super clean and spacious. The view was the best part. The hotel is located close to Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, St. Patricks Cathedral, Empire State Building and many more! Plus there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel so youre spoiled with so many choices.
The perfect NYC hotel. The bed slept like a dream and its BIG. The room is big. There is a balcony for every room. The bathroom is big and stone tiled. There is ample shelves to put your things. The shower has modern fixtures which are awesome a wand and a rain shower overhead. The products were high quality in the bathroom and they have lavender in them. It was clean. The furnishings were modern and there were real books in each room to read. The restaurant was good and it is attractive with an eclectic vibe and sunroof. The hotel is smaller than most but who cares when you have all this and very nice staff. Get a room if you can. I think it is a perfect hotel room.
Very much enjoyed staying at this little boutique hotel and would stay there again and recommend it to anyone - the location was ideal for us, easily within walking distance to so many places: Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central, the Empire State Building... The room was nice and had a balcony with a fantastic view! Folks at the front desk were attentive and helpful. Reason for 4 starts instead of 5: the bathroom was tidied up, but not cleaned. There were long hairs (not ours) on the floor and in the shower when we got there; we stayed two nights, and they were still there when we left. (made me wonder about the things I couldnt see...)
Location was amazing, we could walk everywhere quite comfortably. Room was lovely, bed was comfy, bathroom was also great. Lighting could be better in the room and we wouldnt bother with paying extra for the terrace next time. Customer service at front desk was excellent and they were always more than welcome to help in any way they could. Definitely also pay a visit to the Wolfgang restaurant, they have amazing food.
Hotel was gorgeous. My girlfriend and I had the superior suite on the 17th floor with the king bed and rain shower. The staff was very friendly but we have a few reasons for the 3 star review. The first thing we noticed was that we did not get a king sized bed, the bed was most definitely a queen sized bed. It wasnt a problem for us but if you have more than two people or plan to stay for more than one night then it would be. They also only gave a single tiny bottle of body wash in which would be fine for one person for one shower. They placed us on the side with a massive construction project for a new skyscraper across the street so it didnt really matter that we had a terrace. Lastly the placement for the shower knobs is really askew. Instead of placing them in a reachable place so you dont get hit with freezing water from the rain shower, its a fight you must endure. The room was gorgeous, the bed was luscious and for ~ $250 it wasnt a bad deal for a Times Square hotel. Its also fairly new in terms for how long hotels have been around.
We confirmed early check-in 24 hours before our reservation started. They said they could accommodate us starting at 12:30 instead of the usual 3pm check in time. When we arrived at 12:45, we were told we were too early and that the room wasnt ready. This wasnt a huge deal, but the front desk staff were rude about presenting us with this information. They offered to downsize us if early check in was that important to us, however we were already paying for the nicest room they had and we wanted what we paid for. We waited over an hour for the room to be ready. Also, they took our deposit for the room before telling us all this. The website advertised our room as having a balcony with a view, but the view was actually a brick wall. Overall, disappointing. We will not be staying there again.
Front desk customer service rep was so nasty and disrespectful. We got the penthouse for my friends 21ST birthday so we had the entire floor to myself. The representative said that we basically couldn’t do anything . No music and that if I brought anybody she was going to stop them downstairs. She made assumptions thinking that me and my best friend were going to be smoking marijuana and that we were throwing a party when we weren’t. She was hostile from the moment I walked in and I didn’t even get the chance to check in yet. She was making me feel extremely unwelcomed and uncomfortable. She threatened to have housekeeping come upstairs for the smells of marijuana and I don’t even smoke. Won’t be going back there EVER AGAIN
Excellent service, spacious and quiet suite. Friendly and clean hotel. Half block of Madison Avenue at right, and less than a block of 5th Avenue at left. Balcony was super, from the 14th floor we can see Times Square. Walk-in distance to many places around midtown Manhattan including Bryant Park and Central Park.My daughter and I, staying here in February 26 to March 2nd 2021.Highly recommended. We coming back soon!Thank you very much Gotham!
This place was great!!!!! I booked a Midtown King as a surprise to my fiance for her/our birthdays. The room was very spacious, the staff was awesome and attentive, and the Bed was AMAZING!!!!! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because i booked what i thought would be a room on the front side of the building but when i checked in that was not the case, so i/we did not recieve the view I thought i paid for. Overall, great Hotel and I would definitely stay again.
You get what you pay for. It was a nice hotel for the money and very close to everything we were doing. However, our specific room did have some flaws. There was a hair ball on the floor when we first arrived. The toilet didnt flush and we had to call maintenance. The air conditioner ran consistently and also leaked all over the floor making the carpet wet. However, everyone at the hotel was very nice and accommodating. The place just needs some basic repairs to make the experience a 5/5.
Clean rooms friendly staff great service. The restaraunt below is excelent tho drink can not be bought to the room. The rooms are quite pricey and small the bathrobes are not complementary nor the slippers and come with a fee if used. Nice sized balcony but the view is not great (back of buildings). Great showers soft towels and many premium channels. If the rooms matched the prices for them i would deffinitely visit again.
Very attractive design, nice rooms and great staff. However, they seem to fall short on some of the details For example, they have nice Nesspresso machines but there werent any coffee pods for me to use. They have free WiFi but it has been consistently inconsistent by regularly dropping the connection. Lastly, they are sparse on amenities. Id stay here again for work, but the hotel could bump itself up to awesome if it fixed some small things.
I spent my 5 days for my birthday weekend at The Gotham Hotel and enjoyed every minute of it! Prime location!!! Nice clean rooms and the staff was remarkable! They even stored our luggage after check out while we roamed the city until our flight left later that day! Highly recommend!
Pros - great location with no street noise. Clean, spacious room. Bed and bed linen good quality. Cons - air con was so noisy I choose not to sleep with it on. The view of a concrete wall was disappointing. At $300 AUD night I expected to see something. The concrete wall view made the room dark and I would rather pay a bit extra and stay somewhere with a view/daylight.
Yes, technically all rooms have a balcony, but unless you are on floors 19-23, you will be looking at a dark windowless shaft. Actually kind of scary. So be prepared to pay extra if you really want a balcony.Room service is from Wolfgang’s steakhouse and is a hassle since you cannot charge to the room. Waiter has to go up and down in elevator to process your card. Also, prices on menu are very high.Hotel is rough around the edges - common areas need attention.Housekeeping service is adequate. I had to call down every morning to get more pods for the coffee machine.I don’t understand the 4 and 5 star rattings. It’s average at best.
The location is perfect, centrally location, the staff is amazing, especially Netanya, she went out of her way to help answer so many questions even though she was busy at work, helped us to fine certain attractions, restaurant’s, she is top notch, felt like a VIP, I am a business owner myself, she is the type of people whom I would be honored to have as one of my employees, she went into detail about the room and the Hotel Facilities, all we can say is thank you so much for your help, professionalism, and at the same time making us feel like one of the family, we will for sure be back to stay at the Gotham Hotel agin, thank you 🙂
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make certain that it would be special. Friendly and attentive staff. The rooms were modern and comfortableperfect for the solo traveler. Close to Broadway too We enjoyed our stay It was very close to everything.
The Gotham is a very nice boutique hotel in the heart of Midtown. Its within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway, and Central Park. The rooms were spacious, had comfortable beds, and had a nice rainfall shower. They were very quick with room requests, and they were very personable and courteous at all times. I recommend The Gotham Hotel to anyone looking for a well-priced, small hotel in Manhattan.
Had a great trip. My boyfriend and I arrived early, so the bell*** at the door stored our luggage and the young lady at the desk took our number and called us back around 1pm to tell us that the room was ready. Our rate included a very generous cook-to order breakfast.
Great service and good staff. The location is great as well, close to Times Square, lots of restaurants close by and you can even order food and have delivered by Uber Eats. The Hotel has a restaurant, but who would wanna sit there when NYC is full of locations to visit? Had a great time visiting New York and Gotham Hotel was definitely a great choice for accommodation.
I love this hotel I love the decor I love the location it’s very handy getting between the east and west side near 46th St. And the biggest plus is the rooms have balconies they were also common space balconies I get claustrophobic in hotel rooms in New York are notoriously small. Having a balcony to step out on helps a lot.
I have stayed here a few times for personal and business trips and I have probably stayed in at least 50 hotels in the city from the old Carter Hotel (worst in America) to the Regency (heaven on earth for me). The Gotham is the proverbial riddle wrapped in an enigma. Its in the middle of the city (literally) but almost invisible (youll walk right by and would not notice it is a hotel). Rooms are nice and sort of hip but staff has the personality of a back of rocks. This might be the first hotel to go to an AI based staff and I just did not realize they were robots. There is nothing wrong with this hotel. Some rooms even have small balconies. Super small and quiet. Famous restaurant tucked in the lobby but it just has no mojo. Hard to explain. Even when I stay at horrible places, i can tie it back to when and why I was there. This place is just so generic. I recommend it and prices can be VERY good but vibe is more ICU than NYC.
An adjustable separately-controlled recessed light in the center of the ceiling would have made the room more versatile for the moments when I wanted more light. The staff was wonderfully accommodating. The staff went out of their way to help me out when I left my computer in a cab. Will definitely stay again when we return to NY.
Great initial service over the phone while trying to decide where to book the afternoon desk clerk was fabulous.Promised amenities if I prepaid for a almost $500 room were not available.I am a special-needs traveler and I spent 3 weeks after I paid trying to get ahold of management to ask a couple questions voice mailbox completely full no returns phone calls no email address offered. The room was horribly small if you tried to use the phone you had to hit your head on the TV.very limited space for some reason they think stacks of books that you have no interest in add to the ambience of which they do not someplace to set my purse would have been better ambiance. The concierge did their best to handle the fact that things were not prepared properly for me.a gentleman named Alex was great at trying to get us coffee and the other amenities that were supposed to be in our room but were not available to us.I had a choice between a penthouse on 72nd the Roosevelt or the Gotham I will never ever choose the Gotham again not worth the money not worth the time almost no service available.
Terrible customer service. I’ve been here before and one of my wife’s items ended up missing but room was clean and I believe I had one of there bigger rooms to offer at the time. Anyway two years later I give it a shot again and requested and paid for the same type of room I had before and was told I was garanteed the room I requested. At check in this wasn’t the case. They had given up all the style rooms I had already paid for weeks in advance. All they had to offer me was a smaller room with a complimentary bar offered in the rooms for sale. I will never go here again and never suggest any go there.
My fiancé and I stayed at the Gotham Hotel last night and we were very pleased. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and attractively laid out. Unfortunately, they have a very poor billing policy where they charge you for the room upon check-in, then charge you again upon check-out.
My stay at the Gotham hotel NY was amazing. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at in New York City. It is a must see you guys have the most gorgeous rooms ! Yes I book more than one LOL. Next , beautiful views of urban beautiful night life 🔥🔥! Lastly, Thanks to Itdidria , Young Man Was Fantastic & the worker i didnt get his name but he found my charger I forgot in there room right before i left ! Unsung hero 🦸🏾♀️ of the day ! Lol it was amazing 🤩 tina was good too.
Overly priced in consideration that for the night I was there for one of the higher end rooms, sewer flies plagued our room and when we arrived dark curls of someone elses hair dotted the bed. I know they are usually a great hotel, which is why I chose it but our visit was distinctly uncomfortable.
Nice hotel - we stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon. We were welcomed with a honeymoon welcome message and champagne in our room! The bathroom was very nice with a huge luxurious shower and luxury complimentary toiletries. The location is great, right near 5th avenue and grand central and a stones throw from Times Square.
NO lighting in room, crumbs on counters, stains on bedding and carpet, air conditioners next to the balcony which go on and off all night producing excessive, sleep inhibiting noise, no safety lock on door (one small lock in a NYC hotel!). The room is large, but a large crap room is still a crap room. Front desk was very nice and their help was appreciated, but it was still dirty and old and certainly far from a $600 a night room. Would not stay again.
I was pleasantly surprised! The room was very large by NYC standards. The bathroom was also large and had a rainforest showerhead. The room had an espresso machine and nice teas and coffee. There were slippers and a bathrobe which is a plus. The only thing missing was a shower cap. Overall nice place.
Hmm well from the picture you can see our terrace is only 12 inches wide. I could see this being a balcony? But was assured that I did in fact have a room with a “terrace”. So that being said I paid extra for a room with a terrace to be able to enjoy a night in the city w a little something special and the pictures online were misleading. Room was clean, staff very helpful and friendly, bed super comfy, overall a nice room im not complaining just a little disappointed with the terrace. Also one recommendation for maybe a sign or etching on glass that says gothem hotel. The side of each door says Wolfgang puck, the awning says gothem hotel but with the scaffolding it was hard to see awning as we were a little hesitant walking in as you can see the restaurant thru the lobby. So just for newbies it may be a little unclear where to go when walking on sidewalk
I arrived at the Gotham hotel to be told that my reservation had been cancelled. They were unable to explain to me why and what party cancelled it. Even though they had charged my card for the room. I never received a call from the hotel that my reservation was cancelled or a refund until I showed up that day to check in. They did nothing to fix the problem or to find me a room. Just refunded my money and told me I had to go elsewhere as they were fully booked. Finding another hotel room in NYC on St Patricks Day weekend was not a great way to start our trip. The front desk was severely unapologetic and unhelpful. Had they even said sorry one time I would not have been inclined to leave this review.
Perfect location to everything the city has to offer. We had a balcony overlooking the street in front where we could sit at a small table and enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee. We went to the restaurant downstairs and enjoyed our dinner. Staff was amazing and handled all of my requests quickly.
Housekeeping walked in multiple times when we told them not too, heating went out, plumbing problems etc. The bed was like a rock. I stayed here as I heard it was a great boutique hotel in midtown - and the 1 star really is only for location because that’s about all there is going for it. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on my experience.
For the money not bad. Free fast internet. Decent service nice room.Only complaint: The Shower. You have to reach way into the shower to turn it on. The knob is relatively confusing so you need to get wet to figure it out. If the water is cold you are not going to be happy.Additionally the glass door to the shower opens very far. If you open the glass door to the shower when the bathroom door is open the shower door opens into the bathroom doorway. If you close that door without paying attention you have a very goodChance of shattering the shower door. Interesting to see who pays for that as I am sure it has happened. I had a close call!
Last time that I stayed at this hotel, they put me up on a high floor facing the back. This time they gave me #22, on the second floor facing the street. Even though it was sunny out, there was barely any sunlight, so the pictures posted by the hotel were deceptive. In terms of location, I liked the fact that it was 3 blocks away from GCS, easily accessible by MetroNorth and subways.Hotel has no gym, but there’s a NYSC in the GCS terminal.Room was spacious, albeit dark, as previously mentioned. There’s a half size fridge. The Nespresso machine was a joke, can’t put any water in the tanks without causing any flooding. While the furnishing was contemporary, there were some dents on the doors and could use some updates.
I did not say here, my brother in-law did. It is beautiful and in a nice location. However, I was locked out on the 16th floor patio from his room at 2am. Fortunately I was our there for only 30 minutes after some very precise guesswork on the lock allowed the door to open. The hotel did not do much to help.
My boyfriend & I decided to visit to New York for the first time for our anniversary on 9/15/15. I chose Gotham because of the location (many many of the main attractions are walking distance) and I am truly glad I did. The staff is extremely friendly, especially Sasha and Aldena (sp?). We received a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary. I was told the hotel rooms in New York were tiny since the buildings in this city focuses on height over length and width, however I was suprised once we opened the door. The room was SPACIOUS, the shower was like a waterfall, and the Chardonnay was delicious. Our room was facing the front of the building on the 10th floor. If you want a nice view make sure your room is on the 11th floor or higher. Though you could not see much - the balcony on the 10th floor was amazing, again spacious. The bed was absolutely comfortable and we left bedbug bite free. I believe the price for a room is reasonable. The only thing that sucks is the parking but of course it is New York. Fortunately the hotel does offer a parking discount for guest. I would certainly recommend this hotel to people. In fact my boyfriend & I decided to make this our hotel for whenever we visit New York. Thank you for helping us make our first anniversary even more memorable!! We cant wait to visit again! (When it is warmer lol!)
My grandmother passed away so I had to cancel my trip to NY and attend her funeral. The general manager wouldn’t let me cancel and wouldn’t offer any refund. Her solution “If you do have someone else that can use the reservation we can accommodate a name change on the booking.” Still cant believe this is how they treat customers that are dealing with such circumstances.
Stayed here in November! Nice hotel, amazing location, friendly staff, cool and spacious rooms, just not worth the price fo me! If you are looking for a boutique hotel, spacious rooms, cool bathrooms, a prime location, nice views, and privacy stay here; if you are looking for convenience, room service, a room with tv, or a budget friendly place it may not be the place. If you are looking for a unique place and have a little extra $ this is the place!
I cant speak to the accommodations, but the customer service is horrendous. I made a reservation about two months in advance, when I found out I was unable to keep these reservations, a month ahead of time, I called to see what could be done. I was told I could not cancel my reservation and receive a refund, but that I could transfer the money spent to another night, which I was more than happy to do. I was told the Front Desk Manager would be back with me. I waited a few days and received no call. I called again, this time I was told there was absolutely nothing they could do, no fund transfer, nothing. I was sent to the General Managers voicemail where I left a message asking for some sort of clarification. I again waited several days with no response. I called again and again was sent to voicemail where I left a second message. I have now done this 3 times for a total of 4 times being ignored by management. My stay is coming up in a week and I guess Im just out the almost $200. Needless to say Ill be taking my business elsewhere in the future.
We visited The Gotham NYC from 20th to 25th February 2013 and we loved this hotel. The restaurant/bar attracts ***y locals and is a good spot for an evening cocktail, specially on Tuesdays when the have live jazz. ***y different languages spoken but the hotel staff does its best.
I stayed here on Sunday 7th October 2012 and was very impressed. The staff and service at the hotel was excellent and the room (a skyline room on the 17th floor - the view / balcony is great) was perfect.Particular thanks to the front of house staff who were very helpful in finding the sights and sounds in and around Midtown.Great hotel well recommended - I work in the travel industry and will recommend this to anyone wanting a nice hotel in a great location.
Great value for the rooms and incredibly helpful and kind staff that will help you out even if it means that they dont get a tip from it. If youre looking for a hotel in New York city and want to do tourist stuff then this place is also great as its really close to all the main attractions and food places.
Gotham Hotel room itself was ok, but my big issue is that I had a death in the family and had to leave NYC a day early, so I asked for a refund of my last night there, which was New Years Eve. I prepaid an unrefundable package, but most hotels, airlines, etc that I know have an extenuating circumstances policy for things like unexpected death. Besides I told them 4 days in advance of New Years, so they could have easily turned it around and resold the room for double the price. But instead of making this a win-win, they refused to do anything, so I lost nearly $500 and they had a room sit empty on New Years (or maybe they resold it anyway and still didnt give me a refund).
Couldnt be better placed for all the midtown attractions including Broadway and times square. Subway closely if you want to venture further afield. Staff extremely friendly and helpful and skyline suite had epic views across 5th and Madison towards Times Square. Only reason it didnt get 5 stars was the room was a little tired in places
The 19th and 20th January 2014 my girlfriend and I were bitten by bedbugs in room 162. We didnt expect bedbugs in such a hotel. The management didnt apologise at all !! (except for the housekeeping manager). They brought an expert saying that there were no bedbugs. We showed them pictures of our bodies covered in bites... they said it could be a bad reaction to soap !!When we first arrived the room they gave us was still messy from the previous customer (no housekeeping)...again no apology !! Didnt expect bedbugs in such a hotel and top of that be treated this way.
Front desk staff were great and good location in Midtown, easy walk to Grand Central Station and shops on 5th Ave. Lovely design and terraces with views, but missing the details that make the experience worth the price—no phones in room, no price list for mini-bar, sheets on bed werent fitted, etc.
I have and still love The Gotham. This was my 5th stay and I fear it has lost only some of its luster. The bathrooms and countertops could use some upgrading/renovating, beds have moved beyond soft but the biggest issue was cold water for the morning showers. The location and lovely staff cannot be any better.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and Ive got to say its the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Through the stay I kept getting bitten, I found this really strange as I always put insect repellent on each time we went out. The reviews were bang on.
Booked a valentines get away with my wife showed up at the property and did not have the reservation said I canceled it showed them my booking and they’re confirmations then said oh it’s because my card info was not valid yet it worked for all my other bookings offered me a room facing a building in an alleyway when I reserved a king delux balcony not only would they not take responsibility but would not even apologize for it stay away far away

2022-03-16What a great place!!! We had a junior suite city view for 4 days and could not be more please. The room the location- close to everything but not too close- and the staff. Very welcoming and accommodating, always greeted with a smile and when we left it did not feel like a hotel stay it was like we lived there... Friendly and informative genuinely nice people! The balcony was great and room was clean and comfy. We found our NYC stay place and can not wait to come back!!!

2022-01-29This place is amazing! Sleek, clean, bougie and high end! Check in was quick and the room was huge. I stayed in their Midtown Balcony King. I would stay here again on my next trip because of the size of the room, balcony and quick staff. There’s a 15% for your next stay at the front desk and a $10 off your first room service order. Can’t wait to go back.

2022-02-15So to start off, there were two accidental charges on my card before I even checked in here. Front office staff was very kind and understanding of my frustration and helped sort the situation out. Also was told I wouldn’t be charged for my stay until the situation was resolved. Two days later and I got refunded for the initial charges and was able to then pay for the room. The top floor views are awesome and it’s conveniently located in the city. The rainfall showerhead is a great feature as well!If I was to recommend anything it would be a better selection of channel options for cable and the room balconies were very narrow and won’t fit any fat people.

2021-12-15Stayed here for a business trip. For my purposes I care less about hotel amenities and more about speed of check In and room quality. Check in was quick and the room was fantastic. I was in their basic, smallest room which is very large by nyc standards. No long hallways to walk or elevator wait times which is great. Now lets get to the best part, the bed! High thread count sheets and all the pillows are plump and feel luxurious/ new. Same with the king size bed. It had great support on the firmer side which Is just what I needed. I had the AC running the whole time and it worked great. For work its very important that I get a good nights sleep and I sure did. I would stay here again on my next trip for that bed alone. There was also a nice note with some beverages (wine and water) which I appreciated very much and used right away. Location is very good as well near Bryant Park, grand central and Rockefeller center all short walks away.

2022-06-09Everything was fantastic from the room to the staff!! My husband and I stayed for a week! We got the king room with balcony and it was amazing!! Perfect size, clean, and a GREAT city view!! My only complaint would be that there were no drawers in the room! Kinda weird! If we are staying for a while I like to unpack suitcases and I couldn’t do that so we had to live out of them but it worked!! And the staff….AMAZING!! Mijda, Adele, Shawn, Alana and Age were the best!! Super friendly, gave all of the best recommendations, and put up with our loud, crazy, Texas selves!! Lol I highly recommended The Gotham!!!!

2021-12-18Staff were nice at sign in. Room view and balcony were nice and the bed was soft.Room was dirty! Vent had globs of dust. Shower had mold. Door knob is was broken. Crumbs or some kind of dirt around the bed. Walls and furniture in poor shape. If they skimp in these basic cleanings, what else are the skimping on. Says Luxury hotel but that type of cleaning and decay is NOT luxury. Design inside was old fashion. Refrigerator was all dented. $640 for this is not acceptable. I stay at hotels all the time and this is one of the worst for cleaning and maintenance.

2022-05-23Very rude aggressive and inexperienced front desk employee named Tina. I travel for business constantly, and Tina doesnt understand a third party authorization form is or how it is used. The excuse was fraud during the pandemic for the lack of training or education. A third party form negates fraud as it requires the card holders license and signature requiring no additional cards during the check in process. I will not be staying here again. Please train your employees more appropriately so your future guests are not accosted with incorrect information. Now I will have to waste a bunch of time on expense reports as Tina refunded one card and recharged another for the full balance, and also asked for an additional credit card for incidentals regardless of the form saying ALL CHARGES.

2022-04-21This is a hotel inasmuch as it has rooms you can rent by the day. I think Googles star system is questionable, as there are no services on premises (although they do charge a $29 property fee). Restaurant - might open in a month? Gym - a couple blocks away. Room service if you order delivery. No bar, no concierge, no bell service. Only lobby is a reception desk that was clearly a converted doorman station from apartment building... Which fits, because it feels like what they did was converted a 30 - 40 y/o apartment building to individual rooms. What I dont get then is why its all so busted and worn? Furniture, floors, hall carpet and elevators are all dinged up and threadbare. If this is 4* I would be fascinated to see what 3* is???

2022-04-05It was the first time I was on a staycation in NY. My bf surprised me to go to NY and we had limited choices because of the location where I needed it to be. So I chose the Gotham. We got there and it was in reception. Room was big for a hotel in NY. We had a little outside area which was nice. One thing is that the place is not clean. Sheets are tidy but side tables and things in the room were barely cleaned. It was so dusty that I sneezed when we were settling in. Overall its an okay hotel.
