The Grafton in other cities:
I went here with my sister and we sat by the bar. It was happy hour so got good deals on drinks and food. The shots were good. Our bartender was very friendly and quiet attentive considering the rush hour. The place has some good collection of beers and they made good Bloody Mary cocktail for my sister as well.
I want to make sure I make this point clearly. All of the food at the Grafton is absolutely incredible. The service is friendly. This place is amazing.BUT…I want to make sure everyone is aware… this place has PERFECTED the french fry. Their french fries are everything a french fry should be. To call them amazing, spectacular, incredible etc… it doesnt do it justice. They legitimately PERFECTED the fry. There are no improvements to be made. I dont understand how they did it. And not only that, but there is consistency with each and every french fry. Every single french fry was just as good as the last.If you go here, get fries. Youre doing yourself a disservice by not getting any. This place also has the @nutfreeinnyc stamp of approval!
Women/poc/queer individuals be wary: Me and my two friends went here last night and our waiter (man bun around 10-11pm) was weirdly at best condescending, and at worst hostile to us. He repeated back questions we asked in a condescending manner, for example “Does the burger come with anything?” “Hmm let me think, what could a burger come with. It comes with fries” which he did for all our orders. Maybe we should have guessed because it was a sports bar filled with mostly (white seemingly straight) men that someone would have an issue but this is NYC and pride month haha. My group was very uncomfortable the whole night and was unsure what we did to provoke the waiter other than wanting to eat here. Not sure if it’s because of our gender/race/orientation although it could be, or a combination of all three. I really hope that’s not the case but who knows.
Cant express my love for this place enough. The service is amazing, the bartenders, waitstaff, busboys and kitchen staff are incredibly friendly, courteous, professional (and funny). You can tell a lot about a bar by how they treat their staff, and how the staff treats their customers. This place is run with a lot of love.Add great food (try the Irish breakfast), a wide beer selection, specialty cocktails, and a back garden with ivy covered walls, and you have the perfect East Village bar. Easily 5 stars.
Greatest pub in Manhattan! Great atmosphere and great staff! Shane is one of the best bartenders and always has time for a chat. We came here from Hamilton, Ontario and were welcomed with open arms. We had been looking around and found The Grafton on a simple internet search. Best decision ever!
We arrived at this place for a meeting. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was a winning. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The food was just great. We loved this place very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. We recommend this place to all.
*sigh* Went here once, had a good time. Second time? Well. Saturday evening, sitting at a table watching some basketball. The bouncer decides to move in from outdoors but keeps the door open. After about an hour I ask, does the door have to be open? He says yes, because body heat (though the bar isnt really all that crowded). I say, but its cold where Im sitting literally next to the door (Im wearing my heavy winter jacket inside at this point). He says, its not that cold. So ok, paying customer has to wear a Canada Goose in this bar, sounds reasonable. Not to mention the 18% automatic gratuity on a table of three people...what the hell.
UPDATE:It looks like outdoor dining is coming to the Grafton!!I have to say that this was one of the first businesses to close down in the area—before it was even required—out of societal responsibility. This behavior was admirable to say the least. This spot will always have my business not just for the reasons below (prior reviews) but also for the reasons listed above. They forfeited potential profits for public safety before even required. Read that sentence again and compare it to other businesses throughout the city. Can’t say that for most.Grafton, you are truly one of a kind!SO after coming here for the entire NFL season, I thought it was time to update my review. This spot is AMAZING. Always a good time. The bartenders are superb and engaging as well, especially David. And I’m not just saying that because we share the best name. One time, a patron wanted to watch a sport game that was not on—and couldn’t be on due to demand for other games—so he let them watch it from his phone! I feel as though these random acts of kindness are hard to come by in nyc and speaks volumes. Bartenders Paul and Amber are great too.Anyway, check this place out. My favorite spot!Old review below:Your average sports bar! But like really above average haha. Clean, friendly staff and bartenders, a plethora of tv’s with all games your heart can desire, and decent amount of seating. It’s never too full if that makes sense. Go here often for football games. Would definitely recommend checking it out. Food is great! Everything is well priced too

2022-06-21A great bar with inside and outside seating. Plenty of TV screens and the flow of music was great. Their chicken sandwich with the those large steak fries definitely hit the spot. The service was great (thanks Ally). Definitely a good spot to hang out for sure. I had a great time.

2022-04-04OK bar food, great drinks, and excellent service! Gets a little musty inside with the smell of dude sweat, but they have an outdoor seating area that filters out most of the smell and sounds from inside

2019-08-09Visited to watch the Womens World Cup Finals. Had food and drinks and a great time watching the game. The place was packed of course, yet the staff was friendly and accommodating. Busy as hell, but kept the drinks and food coming. Great place to watch an event!

2022-01-115 stars because you get a tough of nails bartender in their 20s but can talk like they have seen things. Classic wooden bartop, smells of a American Irish pub, and great bar fare. Ticked the boxes.

2020-12-25Pleasantly surprised. The food is a bit pricey, but I suppose in Harvard square it’s what’s expected in an upper middle class neighborhood.I was pleasantly surprised with each meal. Drinks were nice too. Great time and menu.
