The review is 💯 percent honest. Sometimes you just don’t want to eat home food but I cook very well and I know a good one when I taste one. This restaurant is the best amongst all Nigerian restaurants in this Brooklyn. Their customer service is top notch. The food is EVERYTHING. And yes I’m a first time customer.

The last place I went to in Brooklyn, left a sour taste in my mouth. Then here comes Green Place. This place is very small, so its easy to miss. Even smaller once inside. My friends and I ended getting the jollof and egusi. I have to say, their jollof rice was very good. I really enjoyed it. Im not a fan of egusi so my opinion is biased but theres was fine. I prefer the rice over the egusi, even though theres no comparison. Would I go back, most definitely. Make sure and bring cash ooo

Service is good and the jollof rice is amazing not too dry and the spiciness is on point.

This is a really great place to get true Nigerian food. They can do better with the interior though, but I’ve been to Amaka and Buka yet this Green Place easily beats them all.
Their customer service is bad. Call and place a order only to have to place the order again when I get there.
Awesome Nigerian food! I got edikayikong (sorry for the spelling) and it was delicious. I just wish they cut their meats in smaller sizes. For those beef lovers, it was huge. Great place for a quick take out!
Due to this pandemic, I have been ordering a lot online a lot. So while I cant speak to the environment or decor, I cab speak to the quality of the food and the service that I got here.Let me tell you, if you have not had correct Mama Put back in Nigeria, you wouldnt understand the flavor and finger licking from here. The spicy levels is not for beginners. Everything that I ordered from zobo to Isi-ewu was on point.Most impressive of all was that they immediately rectified their mistake when I contacted them. They kept to their word and on my next order, I was hooked up with extras as compensation. I will always recommend places with great service.
I’ve been coming here for a while and the food’s always great. I went in today and ordered for vegetable soup , usually it’ll take some time but then they just immediately gave me the order , I thought that was strange but then I felt maybe someone ordered and didn’t come to pick up so I took it. I got home and opened the meal and saw the vegetable was in the stew, it wasn’t vegetable soup , was more like spinach and stew , I saw some rice and then a piece of pasta in the soup, I didn’t even touch it and called the restaurant , she was soooo rude and said if I don’t like it that I should come take my money , of course I went back . The attitude she gave me when I got there was beyond disgusting . I’m glad that happened though because I found another great place afterwards. Definitely never going back . They need to learn customer service .
Great food but too dam spicey
I called to place an order for pick up. I couldnt pronounce the sauce and the woman was upset. She tells me to come in. I dont want to come in and order and then have to wait. She understood the rest of my order JUST fine. Once more I tried saying the sauce I wanted. She hung up. Ive seen this place all the time and never thought they were actually in business until I recently saw someone come out of the store. Unfortunately, Ill never know how the food tastes. Customer service makes it a no-go.
I got fufu egusi soup and jolloff rice, and it was Delicious 😋. It is spicy 🔥 but its Soooooo good. I just wish the fufu had some flavor, it taste like mash potatoes with nothing!! But it cuts the spice of the soup 5🌟in my book
Excelent Nigerian dining experience. The Jallof rice, Pounded Yam, Egusi, Ochro & Vegetable Soup, Beans and Moi Moi are must have entree items; @ very affordable prices. I visit once weekly. Come experience a taste of Nija.

There fufu and egussi is amazing however the Jollof rice wasn’t so good. They don’t use basmati rice and it wasn’t spicy. Need more improvement.
Very bad customer service. Imagine I ordered on the phone, came to pick up and they didn’t even have my order. Instead of the lady being sorry and working on it, she kept asking me what I ordered while she was serving other people who came and were speaking in their west African dialect. How rude. And I was left to be served last. Oh no, I don’t appreciate that. It’s hard enough to find African restaurants and I guess this why. Poor customer service.
A list of things not to buy here,the fish pepper soup is tasteless and bitter,don’t bother with d goat meat pepper soup,they need to change d person making this soups honestly,things u should get-fried rice,jollof rice and mixed meat,they are good with their rice,u will also enjoy their vegetable soup and egusi,but pls don’t get any of the pepper soup,I forgot about it this afternoon,because I cud not give a review on Uber eats,so I mistakenly ordered it again,the white rice had burnt parts in it,d pepper soup nasty,a waste of money.

I regularly order to-go from here, and always pay with my card. They randomly tacked on a 2$ surcharge, for using my card. I asked why didn’t they tell me before hand. They said they don’t know, they had just started a week prior. I would not be writing them a bad review if they didn’t take my food away and put it in the back, while perplexed at the situation. Ended up getting the food at the regular price, but very disrespectful, and it will be the last time ordering from them.
The food was pretty spicy. This was my second time trying African food, the staff are very attentive and courteous, great place for a business meeting the place has a cozy feeling 360 degrees. Its also very private. I will definitely visit there again.

Worst pepper soup ever made! It looked like a terrible mix of unsieved half cooked meat broth and brown powder. The stew was over-tomatoed and the chicken was overcooked and had barely any taste. Wouldnt want to eat here if it was the last Nigerian restaurant in NYC.
It was a disgraceful experience. I took a co-worker who had never had Nigerian food to this restaurant based on my Google search of restaurants in the area. As soon as I walked in, I observed the atmosphere to be dingy. That should have been my hint to walk right out. Nevertheless, we stayed because my colleague was eager to try Nigerian food. It took almost 15 minutes for the attendant to take our order and when my guest who doesnt understand Nigerian food was trying to decide what to order, she appeared very impatient.She did apologize in advance that it would take a while since she has to fulfill a large take away order so we knew we would wait a while before the food arrived.When the food finally came, the white rice I ordered was brown and smelt like it was cooked a week ago. It also looked like it had been reheated several times. I immediately called and asked for it to be swapped for jollof rice. Needless to say, there was nothing memorable about the jollof rice. I used the stew that was supposed to be used with my white rice to eat the jollof rice. Again, this wasnt fresh at all. I cut into the cow leg only to hit a cold spot because it was not properly microwaved.I cant believe I paid $16 for a meal and service that was totally unsatisfactory. I had to apologize to my colleague because I may have totally destroyed her appetite for Nigerian food.It is rather unfortunate that this business does not appear to show respect for its customers based on the service and quality of food it served yesterday.This was my experience and I have no plan to return neither will I recommend this business .

I love the food and have ordered through ubereats a few times; their fees were comparably high but i just noticed that the fees are even higher now, so im done with them. Would like to order more often from “The green place” but ubereats fees are exhorbitantly HIGH....fees alone totals $13 which is absolutely ridiculous. Pls consider using other delivery apps with reasonable fees like grubhub, seamless, doordash, postmate or even caviar etc, then ull have a loyal customer in me and my friends.Ps: I extracted one star for high ubereats fees
Food is good an cheap. A little too spicy but you can always ask for it to be reduced. Only complaint about this place is the long wait time and sheit customer service.

I really enjoy this place yesterday 4/9/19. I brought 3 of my friend who are not from Africa to this place, It was my friend bday, We were greeted and treated very kind. She treated us like family. The food was very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very GOODDDDDDDD. the customer service was superb. I recommend this place to everyone African or not.
No doubt the best Nigerian food in New York. The service is horrible as hell though. If the staff are having a bad day, they easily take it out on the customers. I still go there because no other place has food as good. If youre big on service, stay away.
I’m disappointed. This store used to be my favorite!! And now all of a sudden the prices increased and the quality of the food dropped! First it was the fried rice, now it’s the Jollof rice as well! Never again. I just wasted my money.
The food is great but the things on the menu dont have a description and as a non-African person I am no idea of what the food is. It will be amazing if descriptions of the items could be added to the menu.
It is authentic african food which is delicious.. The staff is friendly... Call in your order it takes a little bit because they make some items fresh. They also on Uber Eats.
The food is very delicious and very sweet with a nice clean eating area but the place is very small for free flow and they need to improved the time manner of serving food waiting for over 30mins to 40mins can make someone lose is appetites and just walk way.
Love my Nigeria food and people, but we can do better. Invest more on presentation cosmetic, it says all about you.

Very small West African restaurant located on Rockaway Avenue and Herkimer Street wanted to eat here but place is too small can barely see from the street and there is a small African Community next to this place like its only for them but would love to try this food small inside

2022-04-18Egusi with Goat Meat, Pounded Yam and Jolloff Rice. Everything was delicious and just enough spice. I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you havent and your looking for some great West African food. Loved it!

2022-06-30I got fufu & the okra soup. There was a lot of beef fat in it. The soup was good not too much spice just enough. The fufu paired really well it. Not much meat in it. Brill be going again to try other dishes

2022-03-14I’m writing this review because before ordering I needed reviews to make a decision on buying food from here or not.If you’re Nigerian and you want egusi please give them a try.If you also want to taste Nigerian food please buy from here.Tasted like home food maybe even better than some of the food I’ve had in Nigeria. I 100% recommend! Definitely going to try out their other dishes!Just so so happy with what I put in my mouth last night :)

2022-06-05The restaurant is a much to look at but the food is freaking delicious. I spent a few weeks in Ghana earlier in the year Ive been missing the taste of home ever since. I would have given a place five stars but they didnt sell lamb and I was really looking forward to it. And the restaurant looked a little underwhelming.

2021-12-03My Nigerian boyfriend and I always come here for their egussi and Efo riro. The flavors are simply amazing. We have also tried their jollof but it’s not our favorite as it’s a bit too smoky for us. They also only take cash which is inconvenient. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves flavor in their food.

2022-06-23The egusi soup (mixed meat) and pounded yam get 5 stars from me. They jollof rice however, literally went in the garbage after one spoon, not even exaggerating. It tasted BURNT! Very strong burnt taste like it was just sitting in “smoke” before it went into my plate. I’ll be back for egusi and pounded yam though.
