Super cute place! Lovely individual cabins, great atmosphere. We had the empanadas (great filling!), the poutine and the salmon (also very good). Our server Anna was perfect: helpful and super kind!!The only negative note would be the reservation fee, feels pricey, it could be used as credit maybe? - but ultimately it’s worth it
I am a huge fan of rooftop restaurants and sunset views, which makes it no surprise why I recommend The Greens. The Greens is a unique outdoor dining destination located at Pier 17 Seaport. You can enjoy a variety of dishes and cocktails in your cabin that contains a virtual fireplace, electric heating, an air purifier, and chic décor. I ordered the following:– Spicy Caesar Salad: Gem Lettuce, Breadcrumbs, Lemon, Parmesan Cheese– Spinach and Cheese Empanada: Tomatillo Salsa, Lime– Roasted Faroe Island Salmon: Steamed Broccoli, Ginger-Chili Vinaigrette– Cavatelli: Pomodoro Sauce, Smoked Mozzarella, Arugula, ChiliThe portions were perfect to share with a friend and I felt extremely satisfied afterwards. I recommend making reservation around sunset so you can admire the beautiful views of the city.
Its my first time here at the Greens, Im actually enjoying the scenery. The food here was really good. Down below is actually the lamb gyro. I recommend to anybody. My cousin got the lobster which looks amazing. And even the burger looks top shelf. I recommend this place for anybody that wants to go.
Probably one of the worst rooftop experiences. For the amount of $$s they charge, the food is served cold, doesn’t taste very good and is served in plastic/cardboard take-out containers. The cocktails are served in plastic/cardboard cups and they’re only $18/glass.The service was extremely slow. Our food was served and we had to wait for the cutlery for 15 minutes. Had to ask 4 times before they even served us water.Based on the quality of service - I’d rather go to a take out place. The only saving grace was the ambiance.
I brought a friend her for her birthday and she absolutely loved it! Tiffany was our server and she was spot on. So friendly and efficient, even though it was freezing out she never failed to smile and we were as far away from the kitchen as you could possibly get. The views are spectacular of course. We enjoyed the food and drinks too. Highly recommend The Greens is a unique NYC experience. Great use of a venue that has great concerts in the warmer months and used in winter to great effect!! Great job folks.
I was there a few days after Christmas 2021. Beautiful concept; amazing views. Food and drinks are NOT great. And you pay upfront when you order from the app, like carryout, so if you dont like your food, sending it back is an issue. Every single thing is overpriced, considering the quality. And who wants their food in cardboard carryout containers? Thats so bizarre.I am actually going back in two weeks because a friend saw my videos from the cabin and wanted to try it when she visits the region. So, well do it all over again with even more people so it will be more expensive. LOLAgain, the views and the cabins are great. The bar is really nice too but the food is not worth it for their rates and I think the experience needs to be changed to 2 hours for the cost.It makes more sense to just go visit the bar and eat somewhere else. Just visit for the experience/views.
I went to The Greens in November of 2020 for a friends birthday and loved their winter setup. We had our private greenhouse which was a decent size for a group of 6 women with all their winter coats 😃. It was a warmish night so we were totally fine with just the small heater. The food we had was good, served in takeout containers. We got the fondue to share and I got the pasta dish which was a very good potion. The drinks were expensive but they actually were basically 2 servings so that made it a more reasonable price. While I thought the food was good, I think the draw is more the ambiance and you wouldn’t really be coming because the food is great.I would recommend making sure everyone gets their on time. We had a few who were late and it put a time pressure on eating quickly given you only have 90 minutes. The staff were really nice and quick with bringing the food out. I Highly recommend for a cute winter gathering!
The Greens had a wonderful space, but all the food and drink is served in disposable containers... and not the fancy kind. The Fried Chicken sandwich was out of this world and the Hummus plate was the best weve ever had. Ordering is done 100% on your phone and you pay when you order. Prices are high, but the quantity is solid. The steak sandwich was a fail in my opinion. The views are really nice and sitting in their outdoor Beach furniture was fun (but not really clean...stains are clearly seen on many of the head rests). We decided just not to think about it and enjoy the experience. Expectations are everything and they just dont quite get there for the space and potential of that venue.
Fool me once... Wait over a minute for the host to acknowledge is standing directly in front of us because she was gossiping with a coworker. As we were walked to our cabin we were told to order every thing together on 1 phone within 10 minutes and they will make sure everything is paced. We did this. After 15-20 minutes we used the call button to ask if we could have our drinks before the food. They had lost our drink order. The drinks we ordered were $18 each and came in 3 oz to go coffee cups. They were u drinkable. Eventually the food arrived Uber eats style. It was extremely disappointing. No flavor, no seasoning. The Mac n cheese looked and felt like mash potatoes. The Brussel sprouts tasted sour and Citrus. The broccoli rabe was tough and flavorless. The crazy part is the prices were equal to fine dining food thats full of flavor. This chef does not care and these people are here to hustle you out of your money. Our food shown below and the 2 drinks was $150 plus the $50 to rent the cabin. The sad part is the space and views are amazing and gorgeous. Initially we were planning our next visit. That plan was scrapped quickly.
The place is very comfortable, beautiful and elegant, the service is great, as the online ordering and payment also, I liked that, their service is very fast and good. The burger is very tasty, but the brisket taco I didnt like at all, the taste of the meat was very strange
Not sure why people are complaining about the price since you can check the menu prior to booking the cabin. We enjoyed our time there and the food was delicious. Order the fried chicken, Mac & cheese, empanadas, arroz con pollo and beef short rib. Arroz con pollo was my favorite. The cabin was clean and check in was easy. They don’t check bags so if you wanna BYOB. We didn’t get a cabin with a view since we were one of the earlier parties but didn’t take away from the experience. If price is an issue then book for lunch @$20 for 90 mins. The glasshouses on pier 15 charge $200 for two hours (food and beverage extra). Go figure. I feel like it’s money well spent with friends and family. Budget accordingly when you place your food and drink order. Definitely recommending this place to friends and hopefully the concept will stay even after COVID.
I love the cabins. It’s such a relaxing environment and allows me to get my work done in peace while enjoying the food and drinks. Ana V was so helpful and i really appreciate her services. Not only did she help me when i was having internet connection issues but she also made sure to continuously check on me to ensure everything was ok and that i was enjoying my experience.
One of the best experiences Ive ever had. We had one of the rooftop cabins which was beautiful. The customer service is phenomenal and extremely helpful. They were accommodating in every possible way as well. I was here on a rainy day but as long the sky is clear there is a stunning view of the water and the brooklyn skyline. Very picturesque and cozy! All in all an amazing experience! 10/10
Place looks cool but 2 things that will make it so much better. (1) Allow people to play their own music via Bluetooth or from a TV app. Music sets the mood and if people can play their own music, it brings them great joy. And (2) have better food. The Chicken was dry and not tasty. It appeared to be microwaved.
Good place to grab drinks or food by the water if you’re in the Fidi area - the views are worth it and definitely the main event. The food? Not so much. It’s definitely overpriced for the quality and the value so don’t go there to eat if you don’t care about the waterfront vibes. Food is also served in to go containers and not on plates etc so it loses that sit-down ambience. Got the lobster roll and the pretzel & lox and they were fine, nothing special. Haven’t been there for the outdoor movies but excited to try that!
Usually rooftop food & drinks in NYC means overpriced & not so tasty - but not at The Greens! We loved the roomy glass cabins- it was so cute inside. They make a good blood orange margarita & everything we ate we liked. The apple fritter dessert was a standout!! Ill be going back.
Not worth it. Its a cool idea and the cabins are cute, but it was so disorganized. The food was mediocre at best - your average NYC diner can do better. The service was incredibly strange as well. While everything was ordered digitally, it was so difficult for basics to get brought over such as water or ketchup. My party finally got water after requesting it twice, and the ketchup never arrived. At the end a requested to-go box never arrived either. I was there on a weekday evening and it was practically empty, yet my party wasnt even put in a cabin with any semblance of a view (which is part of the point of going). They somehow charged $50 for a reservation as well, which is so absurd. Honestly, dont go.
Location and view are nice and thats about it. Waitresses and host were rude and unmotivated. They served a dirty Pepsi can i had to send it back for them to clean it. Paid for extra beacon on a cheeseburger that was completely burned. The side of fries was fried to long and then served cold. They did not even give us a fork and knife or napkin. Apparently they expect you to eat a salad with your hands? Had to ask them for everything. Completely overpriced. In summary horrible service and barely acceptable food.
Nothing wrong with the place but it’s waaaayyy more casual than they appear online. That was disappointing because we came for dinner before a night out in the city and atmosphere is like a restaurant at a mall. The table and chairs are so low and not conducive for actual eating-again- it’s giving lounge at a mall.
My wife surprised me by taking me here. AMAZING!!! The private and relaxed feelings the cabana encourages adds tremendously to the ambiance and overall positive experience. The staff was great, but the food...My 1 complaint, it was so delicious I wanted more. Great place for a romantic date or a group party to dine out. . Cant wait to go back in the summer.
My party was in cabin D28. I arrived late but the staff was super nice and accommodating. John was amazing and made sure that we were all well taken care of. He was super attentive and made sure to circle back to see if there was anything else that we needed to have the best experience possible. I had an amazing time and will definitely be back and recommend to others.
Way too expensive for what you get (views not withstanding).Food was OK (at best). Some came warm, some cold, none was hot. Very small portions. Chicken was spicy. Mac & Cheese was bland. Spinach and Cheese Empanada was good, but certainly not $14 good. You have 90 minutes once you arrive to order, eat, and leave.... and they let you know it and remind you at 30 minutes remaining. Forget about having time to enjoy a coffee or dessert, unless you order it when you order your dinner (Yum! Ice cream soup!).Everything about the experience feels rushed, cheap, and average. Absolutely not worth $300 for 4 people. With so many other great options at Pier 17 and around the seaport, we will not return.Update 01/18/22: To demonstrate their lack of customer care/experience, they just replied with the same canned response they use for every bad review. Suggestion to The Greens: Have pride in your product. Personalize your response and people may actually believe youll make changes to deliver a better and valuable experience.
If you’re here for photos and the cozy cute cabin then it’s worthwhile. However, if you’re actually interested in a nice meal + drinks don’t waste your time. My friend and I came here for a nice night to celebrate Aries season and our upcoming birthdays. It was really only good for the ambience. The food was bad, like worse than cheap fast food. They have a full bar but couldn’t accommodate my friend’s request for a simple vodka cranberry. The drinks are overrated with way too many spices + herbs. I do not drink beer so the only other option was little 6 oz cups of champagne or wine.Honestly the $54 reservation wasn’t worth the food. If I were just coming there for pics + views the res should’ve been no more than $20. The menu is also extremely limited.
Birthday lunch celebration. We arrived a bit early and after checking in, we walked around a bit to check out the view. We didnt wait too long before one of the hosts brought us to our assigned cabin. The cabin itself was very roomy for 5 people with a furnace that kept the space pretty warm and the decorations gave a great ambiance. The menu was limited, but we already knew that because we had looked into it prior to going. So we knew what food and drinks to order, all of which were served to us promptly. Both food and drinks were served in disposal containers.Overall our party of 5 loved the experience.
Disappointing, atmosphere is good but from there on it all goes downhill. Very hot inside and no way to turn off the heater, plastic cups and the cocktail was black coffee with whiskey and tasted nowhere near what was advertised. The food was ok but too expensive for what is is. Not recommending this!
The cabin had 2 heaters of which, one wasn’t working and the other kept dropping the temperature. It was really cold and when we asked for help, they didn’t care and just said ‘sorry the heater is not working’. Also, the menu could be more elaborate to mention allergies and ingredients. Service could be better to ask for water when we arrive, at the very least until we order food and drinks. Didn’t feel like it was worth the money spent. However, the view and the cabins in general were amazing!
Food (few options) and drinks were fairly good, but the experience in general was weird, felt like a fancy fast food restaurant. Order and payment is online, must be paid upfront including tip, even though they have not even served you at that point, that was very annoying. We dined in because of the rain, I guess in the rooftop is a better experience because of the location, not because of the restaurant itself.
75 dollars fee(not refunded) just for a reservation for an almost empty restaurant is a total scam! We paid 80 dollars for food(Mac and cheese size is the same you have at Dip, but here you pay the double), no drinks + 75 + taxes and tips : total almost 200usd for coming home and having a toast! NO WORDS!!!
Youre paying for the ambience. Thats pretty much the reality. Come if you are trying to watch the sunset and see nice views. Dont come if you are hungry and want to eat a delicious meal. Maybe eat before hand and then have a relaxed snack/drink while enjoying the rooftop scene.
I was very excited to get a reservation at this spot. I booked for a friend and I and received a confirmation email for 12:30pm. I drove from Rockland County to enjoy the beautiful weather. Unfortunately, parking was a nightmare so I end up paying $39 for 3 hours only to get to the restaurant and be told they are having a private event so it is closed to the public. I was furious because it took me 1.5 hours to get to the place and pay $39 to not be able to enjoy it. I wish someone would have told us or not send a confirmation text if the place was closed to the public.
If you take any review serious make it this one. We saw the bad reviews of the food and I m surprised if anyone else would come here. Food was horrible not just ok but Horrible. We had 2 cheddar cheeseburgers came out with no cheese. In the name on the menu is cheddar !!! Both came back with mozzarella shredded cheese. Could tell because wasn’t melted all the way !!!!! Shrimp tasted old. Mac and cheese was gross. Can’t even get into all the other meals. Yes the views are amazing and great concept but need a kitchen makeover please don’t respond as thanks for your comments what are your suggestions. Re train the kitchen staff and let me know we’ll come back then.
Very rude staff member spoke to us regarding our question about their unlimited sodas. He did not want to listen or understand how the word unlimited would mean you can have as many sodas as you would like. He told us unlimited meant that you could choose all of the sodas you would like to mix together in on skinny glass that they serve it in. The price is $6 for one small soda or $6.50 for unlimited choices of sodas in one small glass. It makes no sense. Then, he just walked away from us rudely and didnt care anything about our concern. Horrible experience for my first meal in New York City and it wasnt cheap either.
We were on Saturday at The Greens, we had no reservation but all the staff that was there helped us with the whole process, we were very well received, then we were seated in booth D32 with a beautiful view, Camila our waitress helped us in everything because the card did not work so she ordered everything for us, we wanted to make modifications to our food and she helped us too and everything arrived perfect, the food was very delicious, the atmosphere and the staff very good. Thank you very much.
We reserved one of the cabins for lunch and had the best time! While the food is served in disposable plates (which is a little too casual for the food prices), the taste is absolutely delicious! I don’t know if I would pay $50 for a dinner reservation, but as a $5 lunch reservation it was perfect!
The staff are incredibly nice and accommodating. The cabins are cozy yet spacious, they have really strong heaters (we had to have our door open) so you’ll always be toasty and they also have an air purifier in the cabin. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the food, specifically the fondue was super salty — still good but would have been perfect with less salt. The grilled cheese was delicious. Cocktails are expensive but tasty.
In 2019 my husband and I enjoyed a great lunch here and I decided to bring my daughters for our trip in July 2022. I made a booking online and checked the menu and the setup as naturally things had changed post covid which is understandable. I was so excited to take my girls there as its close to where we are staying and I was looking forward to cocktails and shared food plates for a few hours. I was horrified on arriving to learn that most of the shared plates were no longer available on the menu and we were reduced to ordering a tomato and mozarella salad, a pulled pork burger and some chips. You can imagine my shock when the salad turned up soggy as the tomatoes were no longer ripe and the burger was cold and I had paid $8 for a small bowl of chips. Our server was apologetic and clearly embarassed about the menu situation but clearly out of his depth on how to handle the situation. He spoke to the chef and brought out 1 smore for 3 to share. Needless to say we left after 1 drink. Waters had been forgotten and the 3rd cocktail also had to be followed up. I was bitterly disappointed that the experience I had envisioned for the night did not happen the I had planned. I spoke with the manager who listened patiently and empathised and offered me a refund. I accepted the refund on the food only as the drinks were ordered in good faith. I did not realise that New York could run out of corn chips and guacamole and chicken wings apparently but this is the explanation our server provided us with. While I applaud the managers handling of my situation, I remain unimpressed with The Greens and would not recommend the venue which is a shame as the ambience and view is amazing. Shame the experience did not live up to my expectation.
Came here for a birthday. Beautiful private cabins for your group with gorgeous views of the Brooklyn Bridge. Food was just okay. I ordered the fondue. Come here for the ambiance, but don’t expect to have a good meal. You eat out of containers and the food was overpriced. The customer service was good, but the person in charge that night when we went was a bit mean to the staff when we asked a staff member to take a photo of us.
Horrible and inconsistent phone service from staff and manager. I called 37 times after leaving my credit card information with a staff member, who agreed to charge the card for wine service for a friend’s event. After 37 missed calls, another staff member and manager picked up and confirmed my order and stated that the wine bottles will be delivered to the table. My friend’s table never received the wine after being there for 2 hours and no one at the restaurant has been picking up my phone calls. I would have been glad to clear up any miscommunication, but they do not uphold any sense of professionalism at all. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Great concept, but overpriced for food options ($19 for a grilled cheese sandwich). Cabins are very spacious and would be more worth it with a larger group for the $55 reservation fee. Staff is very strict with the 90 minute time limit and understandably so, so make sure you’re there on time for your reservation!
Where do I even begin? I could tell you the full story of horrible service, really, really, REALLY bad drinks (the bartender has absolutely no business anywhere near a bar) and staff who have absolutely no clue about, well...anything - but, I’ll save you the time. The short answer is, stay away at all costs. Even the beautiful view does not make up for the wholesale disaster of this place. I have never seen a restaurant or bar that is more poorly thought out, run and staffed. The entire place should be razed to the ground and the earth salted so nothing ever grows there again. Imagine a disaster and then set that on fire....only then can you begin to conceptualize the complete shitshow that is The Greens. Save yourself. Avoid at all costs! Run away!
This review is for the patio part of the Greens. This place literally think they’re comparable to catch or STK. They scream at you if god forbid you walk through the mediocre restaurant to get from one side to the other. Ok sure, you don’t want anyone walking across, but say it nicely my god. They literally think they’re a Michelin star restaurant when they only serve chicken tenders, burgers, overly expensive cocktail shrimp and gentrified Vietnamese shrimp rolls. The waiters don’t have to do much work cause the orders are placed digitally on the app so they don’t even greet you at all or even bring you water. They also expect a tip BEFORE you eat and finish your meal. You have to go through the indoor restaurant to use the bathroom, without giving a chance to look for the bathroom— the obnoxious bartender ask you “how can I help you?” Like you’re intruding into their turf. Relax, it’s a mediocre restaurant that I’m paying to eat it.They also don’t have mayo or any condiments besides ketchup. Their burger is meh so it needed condiments. Go to Shake Shack or an authentic Pho place if you guys want actual good food. This place is so pretentious and off putting with their overly expensive subpar food. NOT worth it.
Just had dinner at The Greens on the rooftop. It’s not the best food and you pay $50 just to sit in the cabin to eat, they don’t reimburse the reservation fee. It’s not exactly fine dining, and the food comes in single-use plastic packaging with plastic knives and forks. I wouldn’t care if the food was actually good, but it’s not.Follow up : Even with the owners’s response below, I have to implore anybody reading this that The Greens makes you feel scammed out of a tab totaling nearly $200 for some lukewarm meatballs, stale chips, and a mediocre burger.
Amazing views and breeze in the summer. Your time in the pods are limited. The food is overpriced (the salmon is 4 pieces on a stick and compared to other places I have been the lobster roll was small) but I guess it makes up for the pods only being a dollar. The drinks are recommended.
I whens weekday around 2 p.m. it was over empty practically nobody Im despite. Theyre still asking a reservation and if you dont have it, they act like they making a big favour to you in getting you in. Such an obsolete marketing and sales tactic such a miserable customer experience. This isnt going to be for entering where the place was empty, use your imagination for the rest
The Greens is by Pier 17 which is basically patches of lawn on rooftop that overs looks Brooklyn bridge and NYC skyline. There is a lot to do or see in and around that area. There was a pumpkin arch by the water front. The service is a bit expensive but it’s worth it.
It was a nice view and all but really overpriced and sort of edible and forgetable. Timing our stay and rushing the meal wasnt personable IMO and more quick serve. Considering SUteiShi is close by with outdoor seating, tents, amazing food and views that was the better option. We just walked to the pier without being pressured to eat it and beat it. If we had nothing to compare it too then maybe we would have felt differently but good is always the enemy of great.
Could have been a nice experience, however the food was below standard, drinks werent any good, presentation very poor (disposable dishes/cutlery/plastic cubs), waiters werent friendly nor very attentive, booking a table wasnt possible online whilst the place wasnt sold out that night. Wont go back here. Only the view was nice, that is if you went out of your hut..
Everything was fine except for a few things:1. The display of the food (takeout boxes and no dine-in cutlery when eating indoors) takes away from the vibe.2. Some weirdo, who did NOT work for The Greens, kept peeking in at me and my date in our cabin. Very creepy and off putting especially during dinner. They really need to monitor who they let in. This is the reason we’re rating so low. This has NEVER happened anywhere else.3. Food is extremely expensive for the portions you get. Even if you argue something “fancy,” I’ve eaten at my fair share of fancy places and they all conduct themselves better than this.4. Staff just hover around and watch you and don’t care about interrupting your evening. And it’s never to do anything helpful.Would return but things definitely need to change. Especially random people watching you eat and staring at you having a romantic evening.
The view was nice .. i had to pay a $75 fee just for a Reservation. I was told they was strict on their 90 minute policy. I was seated an hour later than my reserved time. I ended up having to pay more money for parking. The bartender Alexis was very nice. The food wasn’t good. The meal i wanted was sold out. Their options are limited and isn’t worth the price. They need to update their menu. Only giving two stars because of the view. Great venue but terrible food and drinks.
The one star is for the service received, everyone is very nice. HOWEVER, I would not come back here ever. First, they charge you $78 just to reserve the cabin, and it does NOT go towards dinner. (we agreed to this when we reserved the cabin so thats fine but its extremely high for what you get; we got no view of the skyline and the heater only gets to 60 degrees max, that sucks when its 32 degrees outside.) Further, the food is RIDICULOUS! The portions are extremely small, unseasoned, and absolutely absurd being that in Manhattan you can get good food for the prices they charge. We had to send the Mac n cheese back because it tastes like it came straight from a cafeteria. The last and final straw of coming here is that the menu changed while youre dining. I wanted the Brussel sprouts midway through and they were no longer available. Then, for dessert I wanted the apple fritter, and it was no longer available. If this is a place where its first come first serve on food items, then Id understand but nowhere does it state this. The drinks were fine, nothing to write home about. Overall, this place is not worth the price you pay. You can honestly sit a lot of places and have a great view of the city AND good food. With a lot of the reviews stating how mediocre the food is youd think theyd change. Left hungry and disappointed after shelling out well over $150 for two people.
We got the cabin for a $85 reservation; we show up 15 min early for it expected to wait to our time; instead we end up waiting over 30 min past our reservation time; which wasn’t great because we had plans after dinner. We are then seated; cabin is very nice and warm; but the wooden chairs are not even close to stable. We are then told everything is like a la carte which is fine. So we then order our food prices are pretty steep but everything looks good so that’s fine. The drinks then come; one of our friends cocktail was in undrinkable literally only alcohol and we’re guessing that’s to try and make you drunk enough that you won’t think about what’s actually happening. The food then comes and it’s as if it had been sitting in a warm fridge. No way was the food freshly made and honestly it was gross but we had waited to eat for this reservation so we had to deal. I absolutely don’t recommend this place until they fully fix what’s actually going on. The cabin is nice but for $85 not worth it. The food was awfully overpriced and clearly pre made. Please be wary. Maybe for just drinks it’d be alright but overall I’d never eat there again.
Overbooked! Overpriced! Overhyped!Let me start with AMAZING VIEW/LOCATION!Manager - phenomenal… staff doing their best BUT just was not a great experienceOur “cabin” was freezing with the heater blowing cold air…never fixed that! Please note if you are more than 15min late your reservation goes back on website for someone else to book - translation: you lose $75 so be on time!Food? A joke! Nothing was “hot” … Mac n cheese: tasteless, avocado lettuce cups very little avocado.Shrimp & grits 👌🏾The kitchen is apparently over worked with too many meals a day and by end of night things run out so go on the earlier side of dinner. No one told us the dessert was out so we waited 30min for nothing. I’m told the menu changes so I’d try in warmer weather but never again in winter!
Nice view and obviously meant for tourist who know nothing about New York. However don’t go here if you want good drinks or food. It’s literally just like takeout and very expensive for bellow average food. It was served in a card board box I feel like that says enough…drinks are overpriced and taste either bitter or watery. Save your money unless you’re just coming for the ambiance
The only reason I’m giving one star is because of the view—however our cabin didn’t even face it. Having to pay $50 to reserve a cabin (with none of that contributing to the check) is a scam. Now, the real problem at this place is the food. We placed our order and they had to come back twice to tell us that they didn’t have the items we ordered off a very limited menu and they could not refund us. The food that did arrive was very bland and flavourless. Oh and the chef’s special for dessert was a gingerbread cookie man… not worth the money!
The Staff was very friendly. The view is nice. The food? Downright disappointing. This was the worst food Ive ever had, and its incredibly expensive. Portions are laughably small for the excessive amount of money they charge, and the drinks...just dont go here.If youre only interested in pretending to be cool and chic for social media, this is your place. If you want to ACTUALLY have good food, good views, AND good drinks for the cost, just keep going west to PJ Clarks. I am very disappointed and wish I could get my money back. 😑Took my mom here for her birthday and Im actually embarrassed I did. 😑
This place is garbage! Food is served in paper trays like airplane food and expensive af with baby portions, water glasses are extremely dirty, poutine tasted like propane(not joking), tomato soup is definitely from a can. This place literally is just a short pump money maker, all of the setups, cutlery, food are such cheap quality with insane markups. Don’t come here, if u wanna spend money then go downstairs to momofuku.
Concept is amazing but execution... Can be a bit poor. The hostess who we had was terrible she seated you for your reservation then refused to answer or help in anyway. Your paying for the view and experience food was ok. Nothing to rave about. Waiters were nice and the manager was amazing. Went with kids during the day and it was perfect for them. Have gone at night for dinner in the winter and loved it. I recommend it but be ready to have to be assertive and ask around to make sure your treated like a human and given some dignity. Basically front of house staff at reception has always been weak which is unfortunate... Just dont let it ruin your time and experience.
The portions were small for the amount of money. Example buttermilk Fried chicken with mashed potatoes for 27.00. The chicken was cold by time, I received. However nice ambiance to share with friends. The sunset was gorgeous. Very eco friendly & conscious silverware. Friendly staff and fast service.
I Reserved two cabins to host about 14 ppl for my 30th bday party. After communicating with the restaurant reps (several times over the phone), I was told that the cabins can be combined when I made the reservations.Fast forward to the day of & 30 mins before my guests were to arrive, the waitress said that they CANT combine the cabins as promised and that I would have to pop in and out from two different ones to entertain my guests. Its cold out! Who wants to do that?!I’m giving the greens 5 stars because of Matthew, the manager! He really saved the day! Mathew gave me the bigger chase lounge and the first round of drinks for my friends and I for FREE as an apology for the miscommunication.Jonathan was helpful as well and the party went on better than I could have imagined.Thank u so much to the greens team
I had much higher expectations of this place and was very disappointed. Food was NOT good for the price (that gets a 1 star ). There is no waitstaff. You have to order and pay for your food on your phone before it even comes. My $25 Chicken sandwich was very dry and cold. Drinks VERY week. We got a pitcher for $60 and it was basically highly acidic pink lemonade and gave us all heartburn after. Friends food came out 25 minutes after mine. Only thing good was the view and the atmosphere. I dont mind paying money for a good view and good food and drinks but for these prices, I expected a MUCH better experience. Go for the view and thats about it.
From the hostess to the servers, the staff was very kind and worked hard! Definitely tip them well! The view from the rooftop itself is awesome like most NYC rooftops, however, we had cabin D36 and you could barely see the Brooklyn Bridge much less anything else. If you’re hosting a really special event or something, I would definitely request a cabin on the end closest to the water for better views. The food … 50/50 shot at being good. We had the fish taco which was tasty, the Brussel Sprouts didn’t have much flavor, the fried chicken was really good, the cauliflower wedge was ok. For the price to reserve a cabin, I would expect the food to be much better. Many other cabins like this to rent around the city that could be better.
Beautiful atmosphere/view but the menu was limited...The options for the drinks wasnt that great. The steak sandwich was a patty on bread with fries. The salad was just Romaine and few slices of radish..The drinks are from a can for ex Bahama mama..The guys who brought your food would set it on the table instead of handed to you..Your sitting on lawn chairs which is very low..So getting up is a hassle..We had to continuously ask for utensils and condiments for our food..Everything you order is through the app so you cant make a request or changes or inquiries of any kind..You pay through the app and tip..Which to me why tip if Im basically doing everything myself except getting my food..The menu need to be change as well as more option as far as the drinks.
As you browse through the comments, you’ll convince yourself that the bad reviews aren’t painting a full picture and this place couldn’t be THAT bad. The reality is this place is worse than any of the reviewers have mentioned. The view of the skyline isn’t worth the reservation price($75) for dinner. The food is bland and comes served in cardboard containers that your favorite take out joint wouldn’t trust with your order. The view of the Brooklyn Bridge and surrounding skyline aren’t that great to justify the 90 minutes you get to enjoy your food. The cabin may or may not have a working TV to display the fake fireplace during your “meal”. Good luck getting the waiter if they happen to forget parts of your order for 45 minutes while you attempt to summon them with the buzzer on the table. Overall, my expectations of this place were mediocre at best but this place surprised and disappointed me even further. Save your money and avoid this place at all cost.
I came here tonight for a special 25 yrs. Old birthday, we had 6:30 reservations, got there around 6:45 exact, I had 3 reserved lawns, waited about 5 to 7 mins, but my party and I were immediately directed to the back where they were serving drinks for FREE, while we waited. The food came out fast , first the water yes its 4 bucks but this Is NYC., u pay for that at a club, its not a typical restaurant! Its a scenery rooftop but they do have an inside. Then my champagne came out it was $25, I put prices not to complain but to share because it is not mentioned on the site. The chicken sandwich was okay not that it was bland or dry they cook for everyone so maybe no salt but not to complain again while your drinking food is good anyways. It was busy but not too bad, we extended our 90 minutes stay and they did not bother us..tonight was perfect.i felt the need for this review because just like many others who read and decide not to come based on reviews...I say u check it out for yourself..! The experience and pics were awesome. Thanks Greens
Some friends and I went to the greens to celebrate a birthday and it was the worst decision ever. They were adamant about getting there on time for the reservation but when we were all there on time our cabin wasn’t ready and they had us wait about 20 min. The staff was incredibly rude. The person who sat us told my friend “do you think we’re happy to be here” and then rolled their eyes at her. I ordered the tuna tartar and for $19 you only get a couple bites and it was the worst spicy tuna tartar I’ve ever had it had ZERO flavor. We were all chatting and a worker came in asking if we needed anything we said we hadn’t requested anyone and they said we rang the service request button and not to do that. Then two more workers came after with the same response although something must have been wrong since we never touched it. The staff looked visibly annoyed every time they came into the cabin. DO NOT GO HERE especially for special occasions.
I was surprised the drink list was so limited in options and price range, especially the wine and beer. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Everything is very expensive and you have to pay for water too. The white beach chairs and couch cushions and pillows all had stains. Considering the $40 reservation fee, there are also some greens with much better views than others; if youre away from the water, it should cost less. I say - do it once and enjoy the breeze and the great views, and never again.
Oh no, dont go! The Greens: great concept but bad execution. The customer experience leaves a lot to be desired. Servers bringing drinks held them by the top rim, where you sip from. Very unsanitary. The biggest flaw was in food ordering and food service. All food/drink orders must be placed through a poorly designed website. You do not have a waiter to speak with at any time. This is not the right direction for a premium rooftop dining experience. Interactions with a server shouldnt be replaced by our phones. Relying on guests to order food with their phones is the quickest way to convert a social group into one thats staring at screens. We found ourselves with constant questions/requests for a waiter that doesnt exist.
While the view is amazing, I feel that’s all that comes with this experience. First, you pay $40 to reserve the private lawn space which is not applied towards anything while dining at the location. The spaces are timed for 90 minutes but when we ordered our food, it took over an hour to bring out a fried chicken sandwich. We had to ask multiple people for updates and only one server was able to finally assist us and actually bring the food. This of course delayed our timed seating and we were allowed to stay an extra half hour and the waiter was nice enough to give us 2 rounds of complimentary drinks for the delay. The pitcher margarita we ordered was watered down as well as the cocktails we ordered afterwards. Overall, a very expensive and overrated experience. Will not be going back.
Spent Friday night on The Lawns with 4 friends. We had a great time. The food and cocktails were good and tasty. The staff was amazing!QUESTION FOR MANAGEMENT: why are cups of tap water not given when asked for? It seems a bit unreasonable. Our group of 5 purchased a total of 12 cocktails and 3 glasses of wine. When we asked for 2 glasses of tap water at the end of the night; these were denied to us. Left a negative last impression on an otherwise great night.
My friends and I came here for dinner tonight. Lucky for them, the view was incredible. The food was extremely overpriced. I got a dish with shrimp, couscous, and peas. It was way too salty. Not to mention, it was $26 and it was served in a small disposable bowl with plastic utensils. No sides were included. The staff didn’t even offer us water with our meal! If I’m paying $26 for a small bowl of salty food, water should be included at the very least. It was also hard to enjoy the experience because you order on your phone and you do not have the experience of interacting with any of the waiters/waitresses. Again, the view was great, but the food and service was very disappointing.
There were so many details that made this experience the worst dining experience ever. First, we had to pay for a reservation that forced us to wait 30 minutes to be seated in an untasteful ikea type hut. There were no staff to seat us and we had to order on our phones. The incredibly expensive food was served in cardboard containers and on further inspection they were cold. I order the tuna tartar, which tasted like the guacamole we got and the fish was diced and drowning in the most disgusting sauce ever. I also ordered the worst miso soup of my life. 13 dollars. Too sweet and slimy. And cold. I can get a better meal at McDonald’s on the dollar menu. I am usually easy going but this dining experience has shaped me into someone I never thought I would be, a review writer. If you come here you risk loosing money for inedible abominations.
Booked as a surprise for our husbands coming from London for new years eve. Liaised weeks ahead re 3 of us having coeliac. Was assured could be catered for. Arrived and was shown to cabin by Anna. Explained we needed gluten free. She said the nachos were gf and she would check rest. We asked for some soft drinks she said they only had soda or water - and soft drinks were not included / showed her paperwork that said otherwise. There was no lemonade so we had to go downstairs to purchase! She then said there was a bell on table showing us where it was and said press if need anything. At 9.30 we pressed and nothing. Half an hour later 2 men arrived with insulated food similar to Uber and proceeded to place various dishes on table. We asked if gf they did not seem to know but said nachos were not as chicken was cooked in same oil. Pressed bell again nothing. Eventually Anna came in and we again said we couldn’t eat this food as we had no info. She said she would go and sort alternative. The 2 times we saw Anna it was like we were an inconvenience. By this time it was 11 o clock - I said to Anna we have been pressing and pressing for service. She then said they had been switched off and they had been told during the day - conflicting what was originally said. I asked to speak to the chef repeatedly to no avail. Then a manager. John came in and said he was mortified by what happened. We again asked to speak to a chef - he seemed to think kitchen may be closed. He went and returned around 11.30 with plain chicken and mash. We explained how upset and disappointed we were. There was no music in the cabin - a very faint sound of music from outside but definitely not music for partying. The cabin opposite had also encountered issues and they left before new year. I spoke to them and they were also upset and disappointed. We left as soon as it was 12pm upset that what should have been a special night was ruined. We were out of pocket by a 1000 dollars and did not enjoy this experience. There was no food for us / no service - despite being pre charged for service.Overall I would not recommend and this is a shame as I can see the potential of the cabins if they were run correctly and if customers were appreciated.John did try to salvage something at the end but this was too little too late unfortunately.I do not believe a chef was on site as a chef would have taken the time to speak with us. I would have liked the opportunity to speak to the owner to try and resolve the issues but I was also denied this.
Great view and ambience aside…this was one of the worst dining/drinking experiences I’ve ever had in New York City. When we arrived, I was immediately spooked by the amount of corporate sponsorship logos in plain sight all around the venue - including a #chasesapphire swing - yuck. Then looking at the menu, nothing seemed to make sense; $13 Miso soup? $16 Guacamole? Where did they pull these numbers out of? Hopefully not the same place as the Mac and Cheese which I regrettably ordered for $13 dollars. It arrived, and I’m not exaggerating, 60 seconds later in a cardboard cup; it could not have tasted more like cafeteria Mac and cheese - no better than if somebody just threw an Annie’s Mac in the microwave and called it a day.I’d complain about the alcohol but at least in this regard, The Greens is not alone in the game of overpriced NYC venues these days. It’s all just bottom of the barrel spirits concocted into “mixed drinks” with no soul, flavor, or balance - and all for the low low price of $18 a drink minimum. The bottom line is, this restaurant was clearly created by corporations with one intention alone - to bilk money out of the bankers, investors and hedge funds down the street with their corporate cards #chasesapphire. I’ve never been to a venue with less humanity than this one. 1/10.
The view is beautiful, but that’s really all I can say good about here. I expected it to be pricy, but thought we’d have some quality food. Cocktails are $16 and are pre-made, served in plastic cups. Limited food menu. $22 for a chicken sandwich that wasn’t very good and fries served in a take out container. They don’t have basics, like mayonnaise that is not made with hot sauce. Food that was ordered together came a different times. And they won’t give you water. I do have sympathy for the staff, they were great, but kept apologizing for not being able to make accommodations.
This place is just for aestheics. I came with my friends to celebrate one of their birrthdays and it wasnt what we expected. Food was served like it came from Doordash and the drinks we ordered... it was served in platic cups. I was given a small champagne bottle and my other friend got a can. This is not a rooftop experience because I literally saw other people in cabins get their drinks served in actual glass. Its pretty embarassing people pay this much and their money isnt spent well.
Save your money and go somewhere else. The ambiance was okay and the view was the only reason we stayed. First of all, the cutlery was paper plates and didnt give a restaurant feel considering we were dining at a pricy New York establishment. The food was beyond horrible. Only worth it if you want to drink, but dont expect a shirley temple because they cant make it, and drinks were way overpriced. Tuna tartar was supposed to be spicy but honestly had no flavor. The Cod had no flavor whatsoever besides the sauce that they skimped on. The arroz con pollo was so dry that the chicken became crispy/hard. Overall, extremely disappointed considering the family came to visit and have a nice dinner that just didnt happen.
Very nice ambiance and maybe a once in a lifetime visit more than a regular. The items on the menu are very over priced for the flavor and the fixing of the food. I don’t mind overpaying for food as along as it’s worth paying for. You’re paying for the ambiance. It’s definitely worth a visit. The cocktails are made very well starting at $18. The Latin food was better than the southern. I paid $30 for a boneless thigh and some mashed potatoes. Nothing special about them.My total bill for a drink, ceviche, cornbread and chicken was $95 before a 20% tip. I’ve spent the same amount at better restaurants and for more food as well a longer quality experience of which you do have a time limit here. They will warn you 15 mins before. It’s not a poor experience at all. Just be prepared to spend over $100 for a full meal.My favorite was the Ceviche and cornbread. I’d go back for the two any day of the week. However, right across the street is an amazing Cafe restaurant with the best food I’ve had in Seaport.Enjoy the views and awesome staff here.
A friend and I made a reservation on thanksgiving. The place looks fancy on the website so we thought we could have a boujie evening. However, the service was disappointing (2/10) and the meal (obviously turkey on thanksgiving) was served in a plastic box, hardly warm. The taste was fine, except for the temperature. I think it is very amature that food like that is served in a plastic box. We also had to pay immediatly what discomforts us during the dining experience. Looking for a fancy place to eat? Do not go to Greens on the rooftop at pier 17.
Was asked to leave while they were at 20% capacity when my reservation time “ran out” because they “needed to replace my table with new customers” after spending $500 to start… would’ve stayed longer and SPENT MORE if customer service was better. Ordering system is dumb and should be explained better and was sat with hardly any views, need to walk to the end of the building to be actually impressed. Social media is deceiving. Food is good, but mediocre. over priced And very cheap with their portions. I do not recommend and do not think I will be back. The DJ was good and that is the most positive thing about the experience I had this evening.
Terrible.. waste of booking money, didnt look too great in daytime, maybe better at night. Not alot to do up there. I wouldve said 3 stars but the food... sorry to say I wish I got food from a 99 cent pizza place. Amazing staff and I loved the service though. The virtual fireplace is tacky, and a lounge for sapphire chase members?? Yeah make yourself more elitist, thatll make this mediocre experience better. Bravo.
So I am a great fan but of the architecture and the view surrounding it. I expected decent food and drinks. I got them. However the service was disgusting. The long waits weren’t as annoying as the very rude and mean manager Kamal. For a bill that was 1,350 I didn’t mind only because we had a great drinks and okay food but this was a very unprofessional situation. I was having a business meeting and honestly they lost a person that would have had meetings at that place weekly. If I knew anything in the restaurant business I would not hire a rude and annoying manager in the hospitality business.
The ambience/experience is 💯 and customer service was impeccable. I didn’t quite enjoy my meal - I had the fried chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken was moist which was great but it lacked seasoning. The fries was not also my cup of tea. I enjoyed the Pina Colada and the dessert. I’ll definitely visit again, it’s a vibe.
The whole appearance is amazing and wonderful 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️ but the price of the food doesn’t match the quality AT ALL!!!! I got the fried chicken and mash potatoes is was okay/decent but for the price my friends and I paid we could’ve went to a high end restaurant and enjoy it much better!! All my friends complained but to me it was okay. The red wine is good & kinda strong along with the martini !!
The views were beautiful, the private cabin was cozy and fun, the food (fondue) was the perfect snack. Our only issue was the heater in our cabin wasnt working. We mentioned it to staff 3-4 times that we were freezing, but nothing was done until about an hour into our visit. Otherwise a very pleasant, fun experience!
Lady I was with loved it. Not happy about the fact that you have to wait in a line even with a reservation but once your at your lawn area service and food is good and comes out quick. But it sounds like they have a track list of music from the 80s. They can put some drake or something in their rotation. Its really nice though.
Visited in July 4thPaid $100 to reserve a lawn area and arrived 5mins before booking, but still had to wait over 20mins to be seated.Ordered a pitcher $60 and all of the group commented that it didnt taste of any alcohol.Food was pretty expensive for what tasted like pre cooked or microwaved snacks you can get from costco. To top it off a lady came and told us our time was up and we had to leave… no 15 or 20 warning to say our time was running out and that we had other guest who had booked.. just a “your time is up, please can you leave”… afyer i complained they let us finish our over priced cocktails that had no alcohol abs microwaved food like they were doing us a favor. We spent a total of just over $400 for 4 people but it felt like a $80 experience. This place has a lot of potential but very disappointing experience
I paid $190 for a 9 p.m. reservation on the 4th of July for my mother and me. Just before us, the hostess sat a party that didn’t have a reservation and didn’t pay $190. When we checked in at 8:45 we were told to stand to the side and that we will be sat shortly. We waited for 25 mins as we watched the hostess sit numerous parties before us. When she started to sit a couple who we overheard had a 9:15 p.m. reservation we stepped in and said that we had been waiting for 30 mins, but she insisted that she MUST sit the couple whose reservation was after ours before she sat us. After she sat the couple whose reservation time was after ours, she walked off the floor to take a break. The complete lack of respect my mother and I encountered is unacceptable. When I pay nearly $200 (none of which goes toward food or drinks) to reserve a mini lawn, I expect my reservation time to be honored. The food is mediocre at best- frozen pretzels that they slap with a $25 price tag. Drinks are also watered down and expensive ($18 for a small cocktail in a plastic cup). For these reasons, I will NOT return to The Greens. Even though it’s a cool concept, it’s not worth it. Not to mention I have reached out to management about the treatment my mother and I received and have not heard back. I can only assume that since they got our money, they don’t care about our experience. I urge you to save your money. There are better rooftops in the city.
The goal was to come here and experience the Tik Tok, Instagram worthy experience of eating under our own umbrella and enjoying the view of the Brooklyn Bridge and everything else from the Pier. However, due to rain, the experience was stolen from us.My friend booked this place in advance. Reservations open up a few weeks at a time so you have to stalk them. In addition, she had to put down a $40 deposit which is ridiculous. It did not seem like they had a bad weather protocol. We arrived during our reservation time of Sunday 6pm. The rain only started when we were waiting to be seated. They refunded the $40. They moved us to their covered patio area but the rain and wind kept hitting us. Then we moved inside to a little sofa and lounge chair area, where the 6 of us ate off a coffee table. It did not seem like they had a bad weather protocol. All the staff members were very nice and accommodating. By this point we did not want to leave, we were here to eat dinner and we were starving because we skipped lunch. The way you order your meals is via a calling a QR code and then you pay and tip on the website before the food comes out. The food comes out in to-go plastic and paper containers and the alcoholic drinks come out in cheap plastic cups. My mimosa didnt even come out in a full size cup like the other people pictures. It was like half of a cup.I ordered Spicy Tuna Maki Roll as a starter, Shrimp Fricassee as the entree, then one drink of mimosa. My bill with tip came out to $85. Just to eat from plastic containers, and on a sofa and coffee table. The food wasnt even anything to rave about.Honestly, I do not think it was worth the hike to get to this restaurant and pay for expensive food and drinks. Unless you really want to eat outside and look at the Brooklyn Bridge.I was so distraught by the rain and experience that I didnt even take pictures.
Staff was fantastic. Food and drink were WAY overpriced. $18 for a grilled cheese sandwich that was 90% bread and maybe one slice of cheese? No thank you. Also they wont serve you tap water and youre not allowed to bring outside food and drink, so on the 90 degree day that we went, we had to pay $4 per water bottle. Overall it was a novelty experience but we wont be coming back.
The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and the cocktails were good too! But the food absolutely sucks. I know that to-go containers are best for COVID safety, but the food itself was cold and not fresh. You’re paying entirely for ambiance when you come here, so if that’s not your thing, then I’d skip it.
While the food was average and overpriced, it is incredibly unacceptable that we were refused to be given any water.I am 7 months pregnant and I find it unconscionable to be refused to be given any water when it was 90 degrees and we were seated outside. I have never experienced eating at any restaurant where I have been refused water. It was also expressly told to us that we could not bring water purchased outside into the location. We were told that they could not serve us water due to COVID and safety protocols, which does not make any sense. If that were truly the case, then for the safety of everyone, no food or drink should be served by the Greens, let alone any water. It is clearly a ploy to have people pay $6 for bottled water. Management should be ashamed to refuse anyone, especially someone who is pregnant in 90 degree heat, simple tap water, given that our party spent $264 during our 90 minute stay.
Great views over Brooklyn bridge and financial district. However, the food and drinks are dismal and massively overpriced. Looks and tastes like cheap fast food and came out cold. Limited drinks menu as well, not much to choose from. No toilet paper or soap at the restrooms over the 3 hrs we were there.
Wouldn’t recommend coming here. While the food is decent, it gets served to each person 30-40minutes apart. In other words, I got my food first, my mom got her food 30mins later, and my dad got his food 20-30min after that. It’s strange that other people around us all seemed to have their food served before us and finished while we were still waiting. (They came 20-30 min after us) It also doesn’t make sense to serve customers in this non timely manner and time them from the moment they sit. I’m very displeased with the service and will not be coming back. It’s not worth it. Save your money.
I must share that I emailed asking if a face shield was allowed & a rep. said yes, however when I arrived I was asked by a young man that I needed a mask, which I had in my purse & put on. The female next to him attitude was not very nice but luckily we weren’t their to see her. When we got to our cabin the table seemed small for our group, my cousin suggested that we try to extend it & a lovely worker assisted us. As he opened it the table was dirty, it had dust & food particles from previous patrons. He however wiped it down. There was a worker that constantly yelled at us to put on a mask as we were taking pics outside amongst ourselves. Very unprofessional of him to speak to guest that way, & as he was seating other guest. The food is served in plastic cups & to go boxes; I’ve seen this as well as glassware on their IG so I’m not sure how they decide on what to use.Beautiful Ambiance, very picturesque. & the girl that seated us was hospitable. I expected better service for a place that charges you $55 just for a reservation.
The elevator was hard to find and the staff on the ground level told us it was on the outside by Carne Mare. Then we had to follow some strange map to go out and around to the host who initially ignored us. The next host sat us at this utterly filthy table 17. Fries were on the floor, crumbs on the table, crumbs on the seat, and some peculiar black stains. QR codes do not work with my phone and there was no physical menu, website given, or staff in site to assist. It took another 10minutes of being grilled for our vaccination cards to be seated indoors. No one that entered showed proof and the area had a flux of people coming and going. I watched closely for this. I would never return to such an establishment.P. S. Credit card only! When you do order from their online-pay-as-you-go system there is NO option to order napkins, straws, water, lemon, etc. You just have to wait and let the server keep coming back.P. P. S. The sun is blazing everywhere.P. P. P. S We ordered The Habanero Margarita and The Greens. The Greens tasted like a tall glass of lemon juice and the H.M. tasted like cayenne pepper was the only ingrident and didnt come with a spiced rim or lime garnish. Both came in a plastic cup full to the brim with ice.
Decent view and space. Bit pricey for subpar food and drinks.Came on a summer sunday afternoon with a reservation.Views/area: 4/5 good views of the brooklyn bridge and williamsburg. Some metal parts of the building block and prevent good pictures. Space was cozy with the fake grass.Service: 4/5 waitstaff was friendly and quickFood: 2/5 lobster roll and cauliflower tacos. No bueno - tasted like a teen made it, which is to say no taste at all. Others at the table did say the chicken sandwich was decent thoughDrinks: 2/5 expensive and was a tiny cup. Did not taste good either.
The view is spectacular, great place to hang out in the summer. Food is unexciting and pricey, you are clearly paying for the scenery. Also, 9 dollars beer and all you got is cans of Heneiken, Tecate and the like. The staff was very kind, friendly and respectful, so in the end I really enjoyed my experience there.
Nice staff stuck with a sales system that is a complete drag- Nor do I know if it’s legal to require a name and phone number as well as credit card info (zip cc and all) THROUGH A APP?! This is a security and sales force nightmare. I literally watched 2 groups leave too confused how to even apply to buy a beer though the app. That’s rite. You can’t give them cash, you can’t pay with a card. You need yo register via a app…. To order way overpriced drinks you’d be better buying from places that offer more then “a view”. Well, At least the guys working there were nice and apologized. Fingers crossed when the new POS system comes in. Yikes.
My old fashion was very good. The cocktail menu was great and so was the beer selection. Maybe a bit small, but what is listed was good. My wife and i didnt eat there but the food smelled tasty. Is a very relaxed, casual atmosphere, a bit loungy, dark and comfortable. You have to kinda know where to enter.
Reservation for dinner are too expensive, I suggest visiting during lunch first to see if you like the concept. The cabin are Very nice (although they can use some dust cleaning). The food is tasty but as they are served in disposable dinnerware it felt overpriced. Views are amazing
Horrible experience!! First of all at downstairs, we were not allowed to come in saying that the Greens is closed at 11 pm. Then when we showed the reservation, they let us in. Secondly The reservations email did not mention that there won’t be any food served after 11 pm and when we went there they said the kitchen is closed. This is not at all acceptable. You have to mention in the email or the confirmation that no food will be served after 11 pm. We walked a couple miles and were really starving only to know that the kitchen is closed. And the staff, including the manager in charge did not even look apologetic about all this and kept mentioning that we have this stated on our website. Before coming in we even called the restaurant to check if our reservation is confirmed but they did not say anything about the kitchen closing. Absolutely unacceptable experience.
I been there twice. Summer 2020 & in March 2021. The views are amazing, the food is extremely subpar. No bang for your buck because its overpriced and not even good. The time limit is exactly 90 mins and they will come and remind you. The drinks are overpriced with little to no options on the menu! I had the chicken and mash potato with broccoli Rabe and it was very bland. If you are going for just the rooftop views, you can enjoy that for free at the empty seats below and bring your own food.
It was very underwhelming to say the least lol. Shouldve definitely read reviews! To go plastic containers and plastic cups/canned drinks yet charged expensive restaurant prices. They also have a trash can next to u and tell u to trash ur rubbish after. Pretty much a fast food place. Food was mehh too. Cute set up but thats about it.
Great looking place but horrible system to order! Here on vacation, and could only order online and wouldn’t take any card from any bank not even credit card. Waiter suggested us calling the bank but it takes a while and time is limited. You can only stay at your spot for 90 min. We literally spent 40 min trying ti make an order. Very disappointed that the waiters couldn’t even take our order by hand or make anything happen for us. We reserved and paid for reservations weeks in advanced for this poor service.
The space is amazing, the view spectacular but the menu is deep fried, overcooked low quality junk food. We ordered 3 burgers (all over cooked), pasta with lobster (not fresh) and buttermilk dry chicken. It was over priced school cafeteria food inside of an cute greenhouse.
I was here for the Kesha concert and it was a blast! Unfortunately the sound wasnt great and really couldnt hear her vocals. The place was pretty packed which made me a little uncomfy since were still in a pandemic. No one was wearing masks but you have to be vaccinated or provide a negative covid test to enter. Because it was so packed, once you got your spot in the crowd (its standing only) you were kind of stuck there for the rest of the night. I probably would have splurged for the Heineken Green Zone pass had I known the general admission area would be so jam packed. Check-in was pretty easy and had a fun time overall, just wish the sound was better
They are still doing the minimal service due to Covid. All the food comes prepackaged with no plates or typical restaurant options. Prices are super high for portions and how it is served. Only thing nice is the view. This is not setup to be a real restaurant and you will not get restaurant type service here. The staff are nice and very friendly as well as very fast. Not interested in coming back.
The concept of this place is great. Location and the overall set up are beautiful. However, everything else is a total disaster. Food was disappointing. Extremely small portions and something that could’ve easily been put in a microwave. Drinks were underwhelming. The greens has such great potential, but I would not recommend it. Don’t waste your time.
The experience in The Greens wasnt awesome as it was suppose to be. Little cabins in the rooftop overseeing the Hudson, are you kidding me? Well, sounds more exciting of what it was. They will blame COVID for what Im going to say but if theres a will theres a way.1- $50 fee for 1.5 hours meanwhile they had more than 15 empty spaces there. Im pretty sure a walk-in will be good instead reserve and give away this amount of money .2-Nobody explain to you that you have to order just what you want to eat at that moment. We ordered the drinks, starter and main menu (2) like in a restaurant but they just showed up with one of the main menu dish and drinks at the same time, and then a few minutes later, the starter with the other main menu portion. When asked, they said that you should order what you want to eat at that moment. Keep in mind that when its ordered you have to pay and tip, even before knowing service and quality of the food.3-The food: nothing special about it, actually it looks like you just receive your to-go container. No extra plates, no extra napkins, no options but eating out of this to-go container and rushing if you dont want your main menu get cold. Food came quick which make me thing it was pre cooked and pre packed.4-Nobody came to see if you need anything but somebody came after 1 hour on the dot, to let us know we have just 30 minutes left.5-This may be arguable, but we saw them cleaning the cabin after customer left and that was done in less than 5 minutes and no doors or ceiling window were opened to let circulate the air. Just saying. They will say they have an air purifier in there which I dont trust not counting its super noisy. So, if you want to have and special dinner, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE AT ALL. The experience was ok and view meh, but not worth it.
Fine-dining pricing and yet food was way below average (except lamb chops which were ok). Meals were served in plastic containers with plastic cutlery. Cocktails served in plastic cups. Our starters arrived after we finished our main courses despite ordering them together and only after we brought it to the waiter’s attention. Not worth the fortune it will cost you.
EVERYTHING IS PREMADE!!! All cocktails are premade and pre-batched. Everything is served like you’re eating on an airplane. WASTEFUL and not earth friendly-you may as well bring your own silverware unless you enjoy eating off plastic. $50 for a 1.5 hour reservation!!! And they do kick you out after an hour and a half. Everything comes in a to-go box... some items like the lobster pasta dish are soggy as can be. If you have allergies or need to make alterations forget about eating here. Very expensive for what you get. Not pleasing at all. You may as well make the reservation and bring your own food, you’ll be happier you did. Oh and also, they claim to be so Covid friendly yet five different servers came to our tent/cabin instead of just one person. ALSO, they had the heater on in our cabin which is basically like we were eating in a Covid incubator so choose your companions wisely. Giving two stars because eating on the south street seaport is great but I will not be back.
If you want to be absolutely disappointed you should go here, came here for a birthday “dinner/drinks” with friends service is just HORRIBLE, towards the end of the night i placed an order for bottle of water and glass of wine after 15 minutes of not receiving my order I went to ask about it so a manager came to the table (ditzy lady with red hair) and told me my order was not received, i showed her my bank charge from her place for the items that i ordered to which she said “thats your problem, thats on you” any decent place of business would have apologized but instead she was absolutely disgusting and rude, sorry excuse of a human being, I dont know who lets her run this place but wow. Anyways Keep in mind you might place an order, money will leave your bank account but they’ll just shrug and say “we didnt get your order” :)

2021-12-25Christmas Eve dinner experience with a private cabin. We were greeted warmly and sat quickly. It was comfortable seating for our party of 5. They recommended we put all the orders on one ticket - so we did that. The drinks came quickly after we ordered. The food was good! It came out to us warm and flavorful. All the dinner ware and cups are disposable. The view is great. Sunset and then night time skyline views. It is not cheap and not a fine dining experience. It was perfect for my out of town parents - they loved the whole thing. We gave great memories and pictures for our Christmas Eve 2021.

2022-01-16The ambiance is amazing. We arrived on time checked in, showed our vaccination cards and were assigned a cabin almost immediately. The cabin we were assigned (A7) had no heat. It was 22 degrees. We told our attendant and she promptly found a new cabin that was well heated. The view was truly spectacular. We brought along our 6 year old and he was so excited that he could see the Statue of Liberty. We scan the QR code on the table, ordered from our phone and paid at the same time. We looked up the menu prior to coming so it helped us with deciding. The attendant didnt know much about the menu when asked how food items were prepared or whether they were sweet/spicy. Menu options are very limited, so is the alcohol. However, we viewed the menu prior to coming so we knew what to expect. Our attendant recommended ordering then taking a stroll for the view. That was a great suggestion as our food came as soon as we took a walk around the rooftop. It is 90 minute for each reservation but they werent strict with the time limit (which was good for us). Overall the experience was good. Would definitely go back. The best thing on the menu is the Buttermilk Fried Chicken - trust me!! We ordered quite a few things from the menu and really liked the fried chicken. It was so good we ordered a second one. I love the concept (perfect for the current COVID world) but I would recommend a BYOB in addition to their alcohol offerings. It is was way too limited. I had the rum punch, it was a small can, but was good. No kids menu if youre bringing a little one. My recommendations are more variety in the food and alcohol selections and BYOB would be a great addition to this concept. Overall great rooftop experience!

2022-02-01Unfortunately very mediocre. I booked a private cabin for my partners birthday ($50 to reserve, does not go towards your bill). Unfortunately the cabin we received (A4) was freezing and had no view. We were told that the cabins were first come, first served, despite having paid for reservations and showed up early...youre just SOL if all the good ones are taken, dump your $50 down the drain because you might as well have stayed home. Needless to say, it wasnt the intimate romantic setting I had hoped for. Instead, we spent our time cuddling trying to stay warm, waiting for the the unfortunately mediocre food. To stay warm we ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup (over $30 + tip + cabin reservation). When the food finally arrived, we were disappointed. Ill let the pictures speak for themselves. Worst of all, the service was bad as well! The server didnt bring us water and didnt respond to our call button. Maybe this place would be nicer when its warmer, or if you luck out with a better seat, or maybe in the day time. But our experience was pretty awful.

2021-12-11What a great experience! We were greeted quickly and warmly. We were shown to our cabin and it was perfect. Cozy, simple and comfy, a fireplace and music piped in as well. Using Q code made ordering a breeze. New York prices, but you are dining in New York and you are getting so much more than just a meal. Totally worth it. You can order at your pace, and your food and drinks are delivered quickly. It was so nice to be able to leave your cabin, walk around the rooftop and take in the fantastic view and then go back for a bit more food and drink. The reservation was a surprise for my husbands birthday and he loved it! We are from out of state, but will be back again. Thanks to the team at the Greens Rooftop at Pier 17. You all are the best!

2022-03-16Nice Rooftop, good for private meetings or a date. This is NYC in the winter so it is cold. They did a good job of making it warm in these booths. I enjoyed the food but bec the kitchen isnt in the same place as the rooftop, the plating is in plastic covered paper plates. The food temp was still warm however. The best part of this restaurant is the ambience.

2022-03-30This was aesthetically pleasing. The takeout containers are hideous! My good ending up being so dry because that container sucked up all my sauce! I rang the button for assistance so many times and NO ONE CAME! It looked beautiful and on a snowy night, it was so perfect, however I don’t know if I’ll ever return. Other than some cute pics, there was nothing more for me

2021-12-14$$$$$$$. Food was lukewarm at best. Not worth the money. $60 pitcher was practically non-alcoholic not worth the money. One entree came out before all the rest and BEFORE the appetizers. Not worth the money. Had a reservation and they had to find us a table. Ambiance was nice enough. So much waste of plastic! The water bottles came with plastic cups. The pitcher came with 6 plastic cups. Each time they brought food they brought plastic utensils.Edit 12.13.21. Elated they switched to biodegradable plates/ napkins and bamboo utensils! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Winter huts were amazing. Food still as above. Individual drink 🍸 actually tasted as though there was alcohol.

2022-02-01I saw this place on Instagram, trust me when I said that the view is spectacular. Our cabine was lovely but a lil bit chilly. I felt safe about covid because has an air filter and the staff use’s properly the face mask, also you get a private cabin. Our waiter Angel was so nice and funny, we ask him to take us some photos and we feel like in a photo session, definitely the best waiter that we have in our trip for NY.The food was great, Buttermilk Fried chicken was my favorite, you also have to try the guacamole. All the drinks was delicious especially the ginger margarita.Probably they should add hot chocolate in the menu and wold be perfect. And again the view is just perfect.

2021-08-02The food gets a 1 but the ambiance gets a 5 so a 3 it is! We arrived and were told we need reservations even though most of the tables were empty. We were told we could sit at the bar which is indoors but semi open air as the bar area is open on both sides. We walked through the bar area (nice) to another outdoor seating area that looked identical to the reserved section. This area was almost completely empty so we sat down and ordered a grilled cheese and fries ($18!) which arrived quickly. The food was presented in a cardboard take out container with plastic cutlery. No water was offered and despite the waiter(?) hovering nearby staring at us, he never came over to ask if we needed anything (like water). The grilled cheese was utterly forgettable and the fries were sparse and below par. Like some of the other reviews say, go for drinks and the views (which are great, even in the unreserved section); don’t spend your money on food. You can do much better elsewhere.
