The Halal Guys in other cities:
They forgot pita bread on two orders and one had a small piece. What happened? No offer to deliver it either when I called. Also, the platter is way smaller than last time. There’s like 6 tomatoes. Can’t say I’ll ever order from them again. At least they’ll pass the message along (hopefully) but it doesn’t change the fact that the delivery fee on seamless is $4 plus their fee plus tip. I don’t expect anything less than a correct order with the proper amount of food too.
I’m very disappointed in today’s service. My mom is an older woman and visually impaired… completely blind in one eye. They completely screwed up the order and I felt like she was taken advantage of because she couldn’t see. Now I have food that I can’t eat and my mom is sad because she tried to do a good thing because we love Halal guys.
The worst customer service. I ordered online and a arrived to get my order they didn’t have my lichee drink. The machine was not working. The manager. Refused to give me a different drink. He said I can exchange for a drink that was of lesser value. Them he said he will lose his job! The cashier Hamadou D was willing to service me. The male manager was extremely unprofessional and refused to give me my $$ money back nor another drink. The fact that their machine was malfunction should have been enough reason to accommodate me with a drink of the same or greater value. I will not recommend this place to anyone!!! I was a client here for a very long time.
The beef was dry & cold sitting in the container for too long. I prefer to eat from their outside truck on 53th & 6 Ave., the food is fresh and fried / heated to eat. They also charged for every little thing not like the truck stand. I was disappointed on the restaurant because I have been eating at the truck for years and its not the same.
The only thing slapping about this place is the smack of realization that youve wasted your money. What a great idea to grab lukewarm bits of beef and chicken that were not gyro cooked of course, over stale rice with overpriced add-ons. Processed food right off of a steam heated tray. Certainly not a grill. Hey at least you get fresh salad. While youre at it grab an 8 oz lemonade, for the price of a 24oz dunkin coolatta. I know the owner of the authentic halal guys cart and this is a sad manifestation of his original great cooking. Whoever they hired to pull off this monstrosity, needs to go back to school to figure out what even constitutes great Street food. Zero Stars.
They close the grill and the frier 2 hours before closing time. So when they say they close at 2am they actually close before 12am... I walked in this store around 12:30am on Tuesday and Wednesday night and they both could not serve me food. I look forward to the falafels they make there but if only they still provided them until closing. At least 30 mins until closing..... This is terrible…. How can there be no food when the store is fully open?????
People work at the front including the guy with shirts was unprofessional and service was horrible. I took the large combo and my gloops was literally small like the smaller one. When I was standing on the line somebody start my order and then vanish then the other lady came after me they start taking her order and when I ask what about me Then the guy told me i supposed to be in the front of the line and they don’t even hear that one of their staff is that already started order and just disappear.
Food was okay, nothing special. Wouldve been better if it was hot as it was only mildly warm but on the plus side the service was quick and efficient. Prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was alright but it was kind of loud and cramped considering the store size. Not good for groups of more than 4 people. Staff was nice.
It’s really difficult as a vegetarian to find a place that respects how and what you eat. I’ve been a customer here for quite some time and I really should have written about them a long time ago. After work, it’s the last place I stop and after I finish eating I usually drop off in a semi-coma, totally forgetting to give credit where it’s due. Today was different though. I started Senbet/sabbath early so I stopped in for a sandwich. I’ve always been asked in the past if I was vegetarian because they didn’t want my food to be in contact with the chicken and other meats. I love that. Today was special and Akmed who I’m assuming is the manager stopped the young lady who was making my sandwich and had her give me a new pita to be heated on the grill. That kind of service is royal. It made me feel respected and thus I’ll always spend my money in this place as long as I’m in NYC. Their slogan is We Are Different. It should be We Are Better. #kingofcoffeenyc #nyc #thehalalguys #halal #falafelsandwhich #upperwestside #wearedifferent #sankofatafari #lionofthebx
What’s the point of having your own food delivery website if no food gets delivered??We placed an order directly on Halal Guy’s website thinking why use a third party and use the native one instead. The website took our money and an hour later it showed food delivered! There was no food!! No way to reach out to the restaurant since it goes to voicemail and no contact of the delivery driver either!Even though we’ve always been chicken over rice lovers it has left me with a very bad taste. Never use their website!!!
Ive been getting food in all the locations of hallall guys. The only place where I get satisfied are the ones in the trucks on the midtown area. Its cheaper and the amount of the meat on the platter its wayyy moreee then here or 14street.This time I decided to write a review because I really am so disappointed. I ordered chicken over rice and as you can see in the photo not even 10% of the platter is chicken. Its just salad or a lot of rice.. Im ordering because of the chicken not because of the salad or rice. I expect at least 30%-40% knowing that I pay 8.99$ its tooooo much. On top that, even though there were just 2 people in line I had to wait up to 10minutes to purchase my order (2:30pm), not a busy time.I feel like just because they are famous now, they arent being serious and way too expensive compare to what you get.
All Halal Guys locations are great but I really enjoy the in-store/sitdown experience at their store at 95th and Amsterdam. The excellence and consistency of the food is all the same, but I like the pace and the vibe of sitting down and eating on the Upper Westside! Ill make the trip up there and enjoy everything! Thanks Halal Guys!
Yes the lines move quickly so dont be afraid! Our hotel was right next to this cart so we couldnt pass it up. We had to wait but when our turn finally came up the food was fresh and hot and the portions were very generous. The meat was tender and the lettuce crisp all in the same container! Love the location,. Two thumbs up to the cook. Will definitely recommend. Price is cheap but not the quality. Mabruk to the owner!
This is the worst food anyone could eat I ordered it yesterday and I have a meeting today and couldn’t even go to it because I’ve been in the restroom since I’ve woken up. The food is so bad that my stomach hurts so much and I can’t even have a normal day. I would never ever eat from there again, this is the most disgusting food anyone could eat. Please take care of yourself, you are what you eat and this is trash.
One star for being clean. Second star for fast service. After that, it’s not worth paying almost $12. Chicken portion is small amount as if your a refugee victim. Lot of rice. Taste wise it’s average to good depending on how hungry you are. Would I return? Not really.
I kept coming back every month, for 3 months, in hopes of a decent experience. Yet every month it worsened. The meat is always stale and greasy, they over-charge for a crappy portion, AND.... they charge .50 cents for a freaking packet of hot sauce, the same size as a soy/duck/hot mustard sauce you get at a Chinese restaurant! The food sucks, the employees are ridiculously conning, and prices are far beyond their service. Oh, last time I bought take out there, my husband and I had food poisoning.
I was eating our food after getting it delivered from postmates. I found a little black hair and pulled it out and tried not to think about it. Shortly after I choked on a long black hair. If it was blonde I would ordinarily pass it off as my own, but it was so gross to have someone else’s hair stuck in your throat.
It was one of my bucket list once i came to New York, and it was definatly worth it, i ordered the mix plate which is chicken and meat with rice and vegetables topped with the secret white sauce which enhances the taste of the food dramatically, place was clean, price was good which is almost 10 $ per plate ( regular)
Their food is so delicious 😋! They also have amazing hours! They close at 2am, great for a night shift worker or people like my fiancé who sometimes get out of work at 10pm! In terms of food my go-to is the combo platter. This place doesnt sell lamb like the Halal trucks, instead they have beef, and chicken. Thats fine with me, but just an FYI for some people who do not eat beef. Also, the more white sauce the better lol.
Love coming to this place when I’m in the area. Food is always good, and the staff keep things clean and friendly. The new lemonade and dessert prices could be a little less for a more impulse buy, but the platters are filling and well worth the price. Happy customer here.
The one on 14th St sucks, so I went to the 95th St location and its even worse. They try selling me a packet of hot sauce the size of a ketchup packet for 3 Fkin dollars. Hahhahhah, who do they think they are, the food is not even that good. I recommend 49th St and 6th ave, much better food and service and the hot sauce is free...
I came here thinking I was going to have a good experience but it was horrible. The person taking my order took someone elses order before me, which was very rude, he also gave me less meat than someone else. He must have had it out for me for no reason. Very unprofessional! Their credit card machine was busted also. Imagine if I had no cash. Unbelievable. Horrible customer service!! Will never return back. If you want real halal food go to Adels famous halal food on 50th and 6th Avenue. Dont pay $12 for a plate that cost you $8 somewhere else. Theyll give you more food and the taste is better at the food truck. Ever since halal food went retail theyve penny pinched. They dont even give you napkins!! Lol, What a joke the halal guys are. You should be ashamed of yourself! You stay in business by ripping people off. Overpriced halal food with no taste and very cheap. Dont waste your time and go to a real Halal stand where you arent going to get ripped off and their seasoning is bland af.
This place is usually pretty good, staff is always kind but for the last two weeks I’ve been trying to get the vegan gyro and the machine is broken everytime I go, stuff happens so I get it but every-time I go they have the meat in the broken machine which concerns me are we going to be eating left out veg meat in a couple weeks when it maybe works? Also they still have yet to refund me my money on my 20$ order three days ago which is super annoying.
I absolutely LOVE The Halal Guys! The food is always sooooo amazing. Super fresh ingredients, and you really get your moneys worth on the portions. The last time I was in there, the guys behind the counter were really busy, but that didnt stop them from happily greeting us and making sure we felt valued as guests. I will always recommend this place to anyone looking for a fresh, tasty, and filling meal.
I remember being young and eating Halal Guys way to late at night and drunk. Been eating Halal Guys since they were they call “street meat” off a truck. Now have a storefront; lucky you. I continue to eat Halal Guys. Cheap and full of flavor. I can’t forget the white sauce.
This is one of my favorite Halal Guys spots, and Im pretty sure at this point I have eaten at all of the major ones in New York City except for LaGuardia Community College. Im a firm believer that the stores are a lot better quality food than the carts, and the only reason I say that is because Ive been in Midtown and watched how poorly the cleanliness of the carts and workers can be. At the store fronts its a lot cleaner, and I just feel a lot better about eating the food. Unfortunately sometimes I think the volume of transactions that they see makes them cut some Corners elsewhere. Thats said, this is one of my favorite locations because its conveniently located right next to the highway, meaning if youre coming from the upper borough its super easy to get to, and I also love the fact that there is usually some parking to be found. I wouldnt risk parking by a metered spot, but assuming you order ahead its super quick and easy to run in and grab your food.
The food was good but the customer service was horrible. I waited for 10 minutes to get my order ready. He told me to wait 4 minutes for the chicken to get ready and forgot about my order. I have to wait again in line behind 6 people to place the same order. The two stars are for the service not for the food. I went there after dark. You can’t dine in. Only take out. Restrooms doesn’t work either.
Very very unsanitary place. I went there today and I saw how one of the servers is eating halals with his fingers. After that he lick them and came back to make my gyro without gloves. That’s when I walked out. God knows where else he touched himself before he prepares food
I’ve never heard of this place before until I had a DoorDash delivery. The employees at this location are super friendly (both as me being a customer and a Dasher) and the food was SOOOO GOOD! I ordered the chicken platter and devoured it in 30 seconds. Their white sauce? WOW. I’ve never had it before and I used the entire packet!!
Upsetting how stingy this business is by putting salad as half of the platter. I understand saving on food cost by putting mostly the cheapest ingredient as the filler of the platter but this franchise represented a business that flourished from satisfying customers by giving them full platters (not weighed to every gram in a rice particle) , and having a manager who yells at their workers for putting one more spoon of rice is disappointing and the food tasted just like any cart, actually the cart would’ve been a tastier and better experience. I don’t recommend this establishment at all. Hospitality is always about taking care of your customers no matter the situation.
I dont know why I keep setting myself. Ordered 2 lrg chicken & rice platters. The mam was ranctioning the rice, he didnt give a complete spoonful. Get home & the meat that was suppose to be chicken was dry, cold, & hard. The rice was also cold. If I didnt have to go to work, I wouldve walked it back over there. This location used to be soo good, when they first came. I miss the truck on 53rd St. Im done with this location. Too many times of not being satisfied.
It was my first time ordering from here from their application and upon pick up i was sent a first time welcome free side and drink with the purchase of my meal upon pick up the manager refused to go or the promotion and stated that I need to pay for the items. Never ordering from this place . FALSE ADVERTISING isnt a Good Business Ethic
No lie. Horrible portion. I ordered a large combo and got like 10 small pieces of chicken and dried up lamb. Large should be large, not small in a large container. Avoid this location. Other locations are NOT like this. Why do you have to be so cheap? You guys make the original guys look very bad.
I had ordered halal chicken platter but was disappointed with the order. It seemed like it was a rice and cabbage platter with chicken like a small salad. I always have my platter from the sixth Avenue halal guys and they give an awesome platter and don’t even charge for the tahini sauce. It was the first time I had ordered from here and it was a disappointment. In future I would prefer to go to 53 street and enjoy the platter.
Ive been to the halal guys in king of Prussia and it was way better. I got the combo platter with chicken and beef gyro and the chicken was bland, FLAVORLESS! & over cooked/dry. The beef gyro was flavorful but oily. Not what I’m used to when coming to his place. The staff. The cashier was rude and did not want to help me or give me what I asked for. The manager on duty went above and beyond. She made my entire experience better than it would have been. I did not make any complaints or any demands that were overtop.
I have frequently this place enough to say that this place DOES have good chicken, BUT occasionally the portions can be dramatically inconsistent, especially when it comes to the meat.Because of the limited menu, with only TWO sizes (small and regular), how hard is it to provide a universal measurement tool for distributing meat?UPDATE: After I mentioned this, the manager contacted me with an apology and said theyll work to rectify the issue.
I have been going here since they opened and it’s generally a good experience. Today I thought I would introduce my daughter to their food. The ordering process used to be easy and straight forward. The company has gone corporate and everything is now an up sell, you are asked a million questions for something so basic as chicken and rice. My daughter wanted her white sauce on the side for which they wanted an additional .59 which seems petty for such a small request. The cashier asked me no less that three times if I wanted a drink and when she wasn’t content by my no, asked my daughter despite me saying “we” didn’t want a drink. Strange corporate feeling creeping into this place.Went back recently as it was convenient, again with the up-sell of everything on the menu that’s not included. The kid who helped me loaded up my plate, asked me what I wanted extra but failed to inform me that most of my choices were extra $. The falafel is very dry despite me asking to have it done fresh. The staff here is just poorly trained in extracting every single penny out of customers and it leaves a bad taste.Luckily there’s a new chicken and rice place two blocks away.
I used to go here several times a month when I worked in the area because the food was always fresh and tasty and the portions were huge. In the past 3 months Ive been here only twice. Both times the food was extremely salty and the portions were on the small size. I understand that sometimes restaurants have to reduce portion sizes to save money. I dont understand why the food is so salty now. Why not allow people to salt the food to taste instead of making everyone consume the food that way? The saltiness of the food is a turn off. I have not been back since and wont be returning. Prior to the last 2 visits I would have given them a 5, but now, they are a 2.
Great food, just like the carts, very friendly service. Manager was very welcoming. Place is nice and clean. Food is a little bit more pricey than the carts but portions are good. I know one reviewer complained of the rice being orange and not natural, they must not cook because its made that color with tomato sauce, smh. On top of that thats what you get from the carts.
Halal Guys is one of the famous halal-styled Middle Eastern food stalls/joints that first began in the heart of Manhattan right on 53rd and 6th across to, I believe, a Hilton or Hyatt hotel. This is the original joint where the hype and fame all began. Today, the original Halal Guys right on 53rd and 6th is still a wonder and a hit across the NY area as well as known across the globe. Tourists from various countries come to try Halal Guys right on 53rd and 6th, despite the fact the lines are wrapped around the block. The wait is worth your while. Do not get me wrong on this one. The taste is flawless. Probably greased down in oils and MSG, but.... otherwise, insanely delicious and flavorful. The platters or portion size is pretty decent - lamb shawarma, beef, or chicken... kebabs over rice... gyros wrapped... or a platter over rice... do not forget the white sauce aka Tahiti sauce. It is their own recipe, too. And if you are feeling adventurous for some spice in your life, then try their red sauce, which is also a home-recipe spicy sauce that will truly add heat to your palette. And, I mean... HEAT. I am of Indonesian heritage, but this sort of heat... is HEAT. Its HOT. Trust me. We Indonesians tend to consume a lot of chilli peppers and sauces. Their hot sauce is pretty HOT. Just add a dab of this hot sauce to parts of your platter (3 blotches) and then mix thoroughly. You will feel it. If not, then add 5 drops... mix thoroughly, and you will feel that one a bit more. Bustling with flavor. You get your moneys worth. The line goes down rather quickly because the meat is already pretty freshly cooked on the spot in large quantities to keep the drooling and waiting customers happy with the pretty efficient wait. Even with the line wrapped down the block, the total wait time at the end of the line may be a good 30-40 minutes till you get to the booth. Thats not bad, if you really think about it. Staff is friendly and easy to communicate with. To-go only and may sit on the side of the stall in this Manhattan area. With the pandemic, I am not certain what has changed...
Amazing food! I recommend it to everyone. If youre looking for good halal food, this is the place to go. The reguar platter has enough food to feed 2 people, or maybe I have a small appetite, but either way, it was awesome. If i was in new York for longer, Id come here again.
I wanted to report a problem solved by the manager of the Halal Guys on West 95th Street and Amsterdam Avenue on the upper west side. I had ordered using the app, and, although the entire order appeared on the ticket when I picked up my order, when I got home, I found out that one of the meals was missing. Obviously, this was very annoying as I now had to walk back and convince them that, although the meal was on the receipt, it was not in the bag when I got home. Of course, I assumed that there would be some sort of dispute, and argument, and I expected a disbelieving and defensive attitude by the staff. It was on the receipt, and the only thing I could present to them that it was not in the order was my word. To make it even more annoying, when I got to the restaurant it was quite crowded, and the line was long. Nevertheless, I went right up to the cashier and told him of the problem. He went to talk to the manager, who did not question me at all, but profusely apologized, made my missing meal immediately, and threw in two desert orders of their delicious baklava, extra white sauce and extra hot sauce . . . without my having to say anything other than that they did not include the meal in my order. I wanted to be sure to let the staff and management at the Amsterdam and 95th Street Halal Guys how much I appreciated the way they handled this situation. Their lack of pushback, apologies and good will gesture of giving me something extra for my trouble immediately diffused all bad feelings I had and replaced them with good feelings about quickly getting my missing meal, getting a sincere apology without any pushback, and getting two free baklavas. I thought that the manager handled this issue in a perfect way. No one is perfect. Nothing works 100% of the time at 100%, and mistakes do get made. Its not the mistakes that hurt a business, its the way the mistakes are handled that hurts a business. Clearly the management at The Halal Guys knew how to handle a reasonable mistake in a way that made this customer very happy. I have been going to that particular Halal Guys for several years now, and in all fairness, this is the first time that such a mistake was made. I am very happy to know that the management was so willing to do what they could to ensure that I left that restaurant happy. I did, and I wanted to commend them for, as I said before, handling this situation in a perfect way.
The first time I came here, I fell in love. The food was delicious and the customer service was suburb! A staff member came over to see if I needed any extra sauces and they even insisted on throwing out my trash. Fast forward to today. They put a confusing lock on their bathroom, they increased the prices on the platters and now are charging for toppings like onions and peppers. I dont enjoy having to pay for onions that I have been getting free for years. Hate to be nickled and dimed. Cant wait for them to start charging for ice and refills. This place doesnt have the same special feel that it used too.
You cant beat the cart but for convenience this is a good substitute. There is a difference in quality though I can tell. The meat sometimes is dry towards the end of the night or if they are very slow you can tell the meat isnt great. Like its been sitting there keeping warm for a while. All in all though still good
Disappointed in how a company has a reward app, that doesn’t work and employees who don’t know how to work them, or show any concern when in error. I had to pay out of pocket, and the employee rudely goes and helps the next guest in line and doesn’t hand me my bag or receipt. Very disrespectful and a waste of time and money having two free platters I can’t use. What’s the point?
I could give this place a couple more stars! I takeout from Halal Guys about once a week. The food is always fresh and the staff friendly. They offer a simple menu, chicken or beef, either in a gyro or platter, with lettuce, tomatoes and rice. There are a couple of toppings available, along with a few different sauces. Their special seems to be their white sauce. You can add falafel to your meal.
Good Mix over rice no salad .The reason for the 3 stars is because I expected this to be a similar experience like the original Halal Guys Cart. Where they stacked your plate to the top with food and you got to put your own sauce all for the price of 6-7 $ (good ol days)Instead at this location you pay 11$ for half filled platter , then put the sauce for you and i believe its $1 extra if you want more sauce. Disappointed, probably would just go get halal from a local cart for 6/7 for same amount of food
Food is good but for some strange reason they were acting really cheap with the food this day. I felt like I was in Chipotle. Thats not a good look at all for these guys. When I asked the girl whats going on she looked at me as if I had 10 heads. She literally got an attitude. 👎
Finally I can sit down and enjoy the food. Usually when I get food from this guys in midtown, I actually had to look for a place to sit down. Now this restuarant is sheltered and I dont have to worry about weather or rush hour. Its also in a quiet neighborhood and I enjoy it here. The sauces are put in a small fridge to prevent them from going bad. Food is the smae quality of the ones in midtown
I stopped in looking for some cheap eats. I got a regular combo platter with white sauce. They really piled on the sauce and it was almost soupy but otherwise I enjoyed it. The meat and rice were both very flavorful and the regular could easily feed 2. The way people talk about the Halal Guys I though I would be blown away but it was just ok. There wasnt any gristle and the quality was good. Its a good quick cheap bite to eat but its not anything amazing.
Seriously? There are so many good food cart halal options in NYC but this was disappointing in every way. Even the generous serving size seems like a good deal except that its not tasty and compared to cart prices its no great deal. Great halal platters should have edges and flavors to the meat but this was all the same color and more steamed to death than transformed by heat. The rice was a color orange that does not occur in nature and lacked any hint of rice flavor. Even the white sauce was unsatisfying.Nice people, bad food.
Within two bites bit on a very long hair from the platter. I would consider focusing on employees personal hygiene when handleing food. The first time my daughter bought a platter from there, she was given rice in a small package, and pieces of pita in foil, 3 white sauce packets, and charged 14 dollars. When I came in today they gave me a regular platter with rice, pita, lettuce, a very long hair, 1 white sauce packet and charged 5 dollars. Never have had a problem at the other locations, frequent goer at New Haven location.
I happened to notice a review for Sweet & Sara on Yelp and realized that they sell them in Whole Foods so I made a note to self to pick up a box. They are sold in the refrigerated section in case you venture into Whole Foods in search.I was kind of disappointed. I love marshmallows and really didnt find these worthy of all the five star reviews. Sure they were good but at $6.00 for a 6oz box (that comes out to $16.00 per pound!). Kinda expensive for some corn syrup and sugar.Of the three varieties I sampled (cinnamon pecan, toasted coconut and vanilla), the cinnamon pecan was the winner; a lovely flavor combo: spiked with the perfect amount of cinnamon and topped with a praline pecan. I was just underwhelmed with the texture, I expected something light and airy with the texture of a firm meringue....what I tasted was slightly dense and dare I say a touch rubbery....mind you, nothing like a stale Kraft marshmallow, but still, nothing mind blowing.Last fall I went to Harvest, a beautiful restaurant in Closter, NJ and we ordered the dessert fondue with homemade marshmallows. Fluffy, tender, cloud like.
I really like the food here and about 3/5 times I walk out with exactly what I walked in for. And enjoy it. Unfortunately, this place is so poorly managed and staffed that I often leave with nothing. Either because the staff get overwhelmed and cant handle the customers or because they dont have what I want. Last week, for example, I was the only person waiting to place an order. The employee looked at me and asked to wait a few minutes. He then started preparing a set of dishes for phone orders. Thats crazy. I was standing right there! Then, when he got to me, I asked for a falafel platter and they were out of falafel. How much planning does it take to make sure they have some falafel ready for the next order? This has happened many times to me and, in fact, happened again last night. So, this poor service is no accident. Wait on a line only to find they have run out of something that only requires a few minutes of foresight to plan for. Another time they were out of tahini. Another time I was there and the manager started to spray the widows, right next to the line of customers, with ammonia! And he just kept on cleaning while customers were walking away. Its not the food. Its the employees and management. Always hit or miss.
Another outpost for the Halal Guys. It has some seating if youd prefer to sit and eat. I usually just get it to go. The food is pretty good, but its definitely cheaper to get the food from their carts in midtown. Overall, its a good quick fix if you find yourself not wanting to wait on line in midtown.
I went here with a friend of mine - we walked through the streets of New York to find it. The queue was quite long but the staff attended to us very fast. The gyro was amazing - never tasted anything like it before! The portion size was huge, couldnt finish it in one go. Anyone visiting New York should definitely try this!
Not the same as the original food carts, but the flavor is the same. Seemed a little too formal, yet not formal enough. You cant put the sauce on your own plate, and you have to pay extra for more sauce. They didnt have water on tap, so i was forced to buy a soda. The plates also are also less than the carts, so it wasnt as filing enough. Other than that the flavor was similar and was good, so still give it 4 stars.
Very disappointed I ordered chicken and Gyro combo with extra rice and extra sauce ..was charged for all extra items and was not given any not even the pits that comes with the order..very disappointed. Dont mind spending extra money if its given, was just ripped off .
Better than waiting in front of the carts, BUT...Do not order delivery from here. Theyre pretty incompetent. Out of my last four orders, two of them came without sauces and/or wrong toppings. When I called, they said to come in and theyd be happy to replace. This must be the most moronic way of handling the situation because one would only order delivery because they dont want to (or cant) go anywhere.Come on guys, keep the house in order.
I cannot eat any meat due to a severe protein allergy. 2nd time I tried this place and 2nd time meat in order. What meat don’t know roach, mouse?? Who knows. When I ordered I said I cannot have meat. When I went back with the “meat” I was told by the unprofessional manager that it is my fault. He said not everyone that says they don’t eat meat can’t eat meat. What a douche. Again what meat was inside my order?Stay healthy avoid this rat hole
Drove all the way from jersey got there at 1:30 am Service sucked. food was average . Front staff disfunctional 100% . I meant to arrive to the cart location by instead ended up in the store location.Serving staff with exception to the cashier was rushing all costumers . Their facial expressions was very angry and not friendly; as time kept passimg and getting closer to closing hours more frustration and discomfort was shown by the serving staff mainly the short spanich kid and the white kid . Cashier was very helpful and took care of every costumer 100%.
My food was delicious. I had chicken and gyro over rice with a side of baba ganouj (eggplant dip) and it was great!! The pita bread was fresh and hot, the food was just so tasty!! They also gave me a huge portion... i ate in the restaurant and couldnt finish everything. Had great leftovers. Not sure why everyone in the other reviews is complaining.
Such a poor service. Ordered through UberEats all the time. One day, it’s wrong add-ons. Another day, it’s wrong kind of meat. The next day, ordered extra protein, only got 5 piece of small chicken bits. The pinnacle: 2 orders, 1 arrived. Please fix this. I know it’s COVID, but I still paid the same $ for your food, right?
Hi,I visited the Amsterdam Ave location last night. It was around 1:30AM and I came with three friends. We always get the platters with rice but to our surprise there was no rice left, (so we thought). The workers rudely told us that they had no rice left and they were not substituting anything else because of it. A few minutes went by and we saw the workers shuffling a half full container of rice around. I asked if I could get a scoop and they lashed out at me and said this rice is garbage and dry! You cannot eat it. I finally sat back down until two new customers walked in and the workers made them two platters WITH RICE and they were trying to hide that they were giving these customers rice. Once they saw that I saw that they were getting rice in their platters, they rushed to put the cover on and get them out of there. I always go to the 2nd and 14th location and never have had a problem and I am actually very friendly with the workers there. This location is ridiculous. I cant believe how they willingly lied to us about the rice and then persisted to give the new customers rice and not us. I will never come back here again. You really need to get this location in order or else you will lose more customers. Disgusting.Follow up- Manager did reach out to me which was very nice but we still cannot figure out why this happened.
Honestly, I prefer the halal carts nearby. This costs a few dollars more, and maybe the portions are slightly larger, but at the end of the day I just want some tasty halal food for a cheap price, and the physical location and increased cost kind of ruins something already perfect. Id say go for the novelty, but if you just want to eat, stick to your local cart.
The associates there that work there are very friendly and very helpful and actually theyre happy to have a job which is great knowing that you were going to say since the first is going to be happy and not going to be throwing your food around in angrily but I love that place I Im not going to lie I love that place
Nice guys. Apparently now they offer a large and a small size, which is nice. Disclaimers: they apparently do not give out free water (you have to apply for a bottle); they only have regular kunafa for dessert, never cheese kunafa; and the red sauce is SUPER SPICY BEWARE.
Overrated! So many more tastier halal carts in the city. Habibi on 23rd between lex & park are definitely better and have a few other locations. Bugbid give the Halal Guys credit for there marketing machine. I still eat them out of convenience from time to time though.
World famous Halal guys! This storefront model has good seating, and also offers a smaller plate to their well known big size portion plate. Another plus is that they offer you a few more toppings free such as fresh cut onions, jalapeños and paid toppings like hummus, Greek salad.
Where do I start? Heres how Ill start: wow, that was delicious! No frills chicken and rice plate was delicious! They have plates, gyros, falafel, baklava, and more. It took no time to get my plate (granted it was a Sunday afternoon), and it was great.Im from Boston and heard they were coming to Beantown. While in NYC, I had to try them out ahead of time. I will be getting them consistently in Boston. They are a superior upgrade from our local option of Chicken n Rice Guys.
No lamb. Food is way over priced, i guess because they have a store instead of just a cart. Ordered a beef (would have been lamb) platter and a chicken platter with white sauce. Cost me $20. For $20 the seasoning shouldve been amazing but this stuff was bland. I shouldve went to the cart on 96th and broadway instead. Would have gotten twice the amount of food for the same price and highly seasoned too.
This is like the traditional cart of The Halal Guys suddenly equipped with roof and red tables under the roof. The food serve at foil bowls, same plastic silverware, red-white sauce, huge cones with gyro meat, orange rice: everything is look pretty the same, except the roof and tables with seats. And whole magic of that cart place from 53st/6ave is disappeared. Pita taste like a wet paper, gyro is overcooked, salad is just chopped tomato and lettuce. Nice try, but no willing to go next time.
The new Halal Guys just opened! It tastes at yummy as ever, albeit being a good $3-4 more expensive than the delicious cart down the street. The interior is a bit confusing -- it seems like theyre mixing two clashing design schemes -- but for a to-go spot, The Halal Guys is a winner!
Not the Halal Guys cart of my youth (eating chicken over rice drenched in white sauce crouching on 53rd in the middle of the night) but more convenient and a bit more expensive. Ill take the hit in exchange for not having to wait in a 50 person line, and for the AC, which is nice.
For 10$ I just can say MaMa MiA. The taste and the quality of the food is amazing. This place deserves a Michelin Star haha well maybe I m overreacting. This is the Plate Mix that they sell with all you can see. Don’t forget to add more white sauce and be careful with the spicy one cause is very hot.———————-@elmanudominguez (Instagram)Food + Entertainment in NY
They charge you extra for pretty much anything, even water from the soda machine. Portion sizes are super stingy compared to the original sidewalk location. I had to ask for extra white AND hot sauces, twice each! Also how do you call yourselves Halal Guys and not serve lamb gyro? Beef gyro was a subpar substitute.
Customer service was bad. I was accused of trying to steal a soda and had to put it back, when the guy(my friend) in front of me didnt want his soda and said, give it to the guy behind me. I was the guy behind him. I grabbed a soda and then was told I was stealing it and to put it back. I didnt feel like arguing as I barely wanted the soda to begin with, but there was no reason for that kind of rudeness.
After hearing about it...I finally went there yesterday. This food cant be compared to one you could have in NY food trucks. The Chicken is boiled and has no flavor at all, not even salt. The Gyro is Beef only, usually it could be mix of Lamb and Beef. The Hot Sauce is not Hot, (Stupid HOT), it will just burn your mouth. The only thing I liked so far was the White Sauce. The ? is would I go back....I would only go back to try something different, If I was near downtown.Beside, there are so many other places that you could goto.
Bland garbage. The only place in NYC Ive ever seen that uses pre-cooked frozen falafel balls out of an industrial sized bag, instead of making their own. Everything is very underspiced and dull. The white sauce is hideous - ask them for sauce to go and look at the ingredients on the package they give you. Its like the McDonalds of halal food but a lot more expensive.

2021-08-24First time I tried The Halal Guys, couple years ago at midtown location from cart and was not a good experience. This time I probably came to the right spot. Food was delicious, especially sauce made even better. I ordered falafel sandwich and chicken platter. Both were very delicious. Definitely recommend it.

2022-03-14Service was okay. One of my combos has no rice. That is one of the main components of the combo with rice. Please check they put all the ingredients before you pay for it.

2022-03-10This place has gotten progressively worse, price increases and smaller portion sizes will be The Halal Guys’ downfall. People who’ve known about them for a long time know that they’ve begun to care less about the customer and more about how they can increase their profit margins. Nobody wants to spend more money for less food and the shift from 8 dollars for a full plate to 11 dollars for nearly half a plate over the course of a few years is insulting to the consumer.

2021-09-24We always eat at halal guys in midtown. And its our first time to try here in upper west side. Kinda got surprised for the price and the portion of food. Its more expensive and less serving than the one in the cart in midtown. But I mean, they got their place and own store so maybe that’s why its reasonable that they need to be price higher. The place is clean, we did dine in. We might come back if we’re around the area.PS: they got a lot of dine in tables. Maybe around 5 tables inside, and there’s a bunch of tables outside.

2022-04-12Honestly like this more than the original cart location. You can sit down and eat properly, and portions are solid. My only complaint is that I wish you can put sauces yourself. Be aware they try to charge you for extra packets of sauce. I do like the options of stuff you can add to the food (onions, peppers, etc).

2021-09-26Enjoyed it as much as I did in front of the food cart in midtown on a late night many years ago. Great portion, tender and flavorful chicken, crispy falafels and of course the delicious white sauce!

2022-06-22Always enjoy their platter. Staff was excellent gave me 2 free packets of white sauce which are usually not free.

2022-06-14Great spot to satisfy that midnight halal craving. Theyre open until really late at night and their employees are generally really friendly. My last visit however, a male employee insisted that my friend take a platter that was already sitting on the side. He kept telling him that it was prepared just now and pushed my friend to take it even though he asked for a brand new one. The whole thing was really off-putting especially since Ive come to expect friendly and professional staff members from this spot.

2022-06-28I am a frequent customer and have always happy with the quality, service, delivery. This one time, the order was completely wrong.1. Ordered a cookie, it was not included but I was charged.2. No white sauce or hot sauce included.3. No utensils included even though it was requested4 Ordered diet Snapple but regular Snapple came it.My biggest complain is:1. I called the number and no one called back.2. I don’t want to automatically substitute if a product is not available.3. I shouldn’t be charged if an item has not been delivered!
