The Home Depot in other cities:
Stopped in here looking for a fridge a while back ago with my sister. The sales associate was attentive and answered all of her stupid questions.I worked at lowes at the time and I was blown away at how much better the service was. There were several people on the sales floor who were ready & wiling to help ... And also had more than one register open. Low key have always favored home depot to lowes , they are much cheaper & way more helpful.
The store has come a long way from when I first moved to the area in 2014. I hated walking into that store back in the 2015 era because it always felt like I was not welcome there. The other day I was immediately greeted when I walked to the door, and as I perused each department, I didnt feel like I was being attacked by a hundred million questions and I didnt feel like I was being ignored either. Nice to see the store is back in good working order
Home Depot is always great for hardware items. This location is good for quick trips. The Associates are friendly and helpful for questions. You can also order online. Good location on the west side of Syracuse NY. Maybe the coffee will be back at the contract entrance soon.
I bought a dishwasher and ordered installation service too. When the delivery guy came, he told me that the dishwasher could not be installed because I had an incompatible shut off valve. He told me to find a plumber at Home Depot who can replace the valve and install the washer for me.After he left, I took some time to investigate and it turns out that the valve is perfectly compatible with the new dishwasher. Also the delivery man gave me misleading information because Home Depot doesnt offer plumbing services at all. This was such a bad experience. I ordered installation service because I wanted to save time and effort, but I ended up spending more time and effort then expected.
When compared to Lowes HD has slightly different items, in some cases, better quality for the same price. They are also open earlier which is another plus when comparing to Lowes.BUT HD does not offer the 5% discount for contractors which makes them a secondary stop for me most of the time..A big negative is that their lumber comes with many defects so you have to spend a lot of time sorting. Pre-bent is the well known joke.... This is one of the most frustrating things for me. Their hardwood plywoods are on the low end with very thin veneers. Dont sand too much or you will go through the veneer. Local lumber stores have veneers over 2 times as thick... To be complete, the plywoods from the local stores do cost more, but I think they are worth it.It bothers me that these big box stores have driven the smaller lumber and woodworking tool places out of business, but it is as it is. I just wish HD would carry a bigger selection of quality tools such as carving tools.
Awful delivery service, and terrible communication/organization on Home Depots part. I ordered a dishwasher and it was finally delivered over 2 months later, except I paid for installation and removal of my old dishwasher but the delivery person said I dont install these. After calling Home Depot they told me a contracted plumber needed to come out but wouldnt tell me when, so Ill just have a dishwasher sitting in the middle of my kitchen for days until they call to set up yet another appointment. I understand that a plumber needs to come install it properly, but not a single person communicated any of this to me when I bought the dishwasher, and it just seems like terrible organization all around.
Two years after a previous bad experience with Home Depot, I finally convinced my girlfriend to give them another shot. We ordered a dishwasher with installation three months ago which was supposed to be delivered/installed in December. It ended up getting delivered in February instead, and without installation. Dudes dropped it off, said somebody else would be back to install it eventually and left. Its been sitting in the center of my kitchen for a week and a half now and Im about to install it myself, let Home Depots independent contractor show up in a month to stare at it for the duration of the labor we paid, tip him and then never shop at home depot again. Gave them two stars because they helped me to realize Im a lifer at Lowes.
I gave Home Depot only one star not because their employees but the deliver service they sub contract out called NSD. They have the worst customer service, you virtually can not get anyone to address your concerns or track your item. Their “Chat” service is a joke, you wait for a representative for at least 20 minutes only to get cut off and no way to get connected again. Our item was suppose to be delivered on May 28th per tracking notice. It arrived at their terminal in Syracuse NY on May 26th. It is now June 6th and still no word where our item is. Every day since May 28th it says it will be delivered between 11:00am- 3:00 pm that day and it never comes. There aren’t any emails, calls saying it’s going to be late. You can’t get hold of anyone even from Home Depot, they keep passing the buck to the next guy. Theperson I did get in touch with who said she is the director of shipping at the Camillus store and it seems there are many others like myself . So, BEWARE, you all have been forewarned, any major appliance big or small if it’s being shipped by NSD you’ll have headaches. Go on their web site (NSD) and read all the negative reviews, I wish I had before ordering. I am so surprised at Home depot for continuing with this delivery service with so many bad reviews. Not sure about Lowe’s I believe they have their own delivery trucks, not sure about that, but it’s worth looking into.
About as bad as it gets. I would give no stars if available. Talked the the first person and asked for garden and he said go to the service desk. Service sends me to garden. Get to garden ask where I can find it. Cant find it because the aisle wasnt in that section where we were. Went back to Manager and two others who directed me initially, was given attitude and said it was where they told me. So rude, Customer Service is lost. Will never frequent this store again.
I bought indoor outdoor carpet and paint. The two people that helped me, in the flooring department, were fantastic! Very helpful and knowledgeable, which is what Ive come to expect from Home Depot. The person at the paint counter was less than friendly, but my paint turned out just fine. Checking out was about the same as getting the paint, but I had to pay with a card (her cash option was broken??) and she wasnt thrilled about having to help me type in the codes for my carpet (no barcode).I choose Home Depot over other options in the area because their staff is usually amazing. I shop there frequently so I will still give them 5 🌟 and chalk up the unfriendly vibe to an off day.
Usually go to the other local box store because its closer but the service there is terrible. Stopped at the Home Depot, the service was outstanding. Whenever I approached an associate, they turned, faced me, and asked if I needed any help. Price was less than the other box store as well, bonus!!!! This will be my first stop from now on!
I waited 40 minutes for curbside pickup until I called just for them to say they didnt see my vehicle so they just went inside... They claim they called me but I had zero missed calls. Waste of my time.I will say Alex did a good job making sure my order was ready and even did a follow up call to check in. That brought it from 1 star to 3.
Home Depot wasnt good. As I was walking in( East Syracuse home depot) a couple was behind me and werent waring masks. I went to an employee of the store and informed her that there is a couple in the store shopping without wearing a mask. She saw them but told me they werent allow to enforce mask wearing. I take my health seriously so I left and Im very disappointed in home depots response.
Ordered a freezer from Home Depot and have waited THRICE now for the delivery. Delivery time posted was 1:00-5:00, waited until 9:00 on all three delivery dates, no phone call and no freezer. Called many, many numbers and not one person able to resolve situation. Beware of their delivery service!
Ive been shopping here for years and the service is hit or miss. Sometimes the people are helpful and sometimes theyre not. Once, an older male employee walked past me and asked if I, a woman, had brought him a sandwich. I was appalled by his blatant and unabashed sexism. If you need assistance with a project the employees at Home Depot in Clay have consistently been kind, helpful and repeatedly gone above and to assist me. Once I needed a replacement lawn mower blade and the Camillus Home Depot employee told me they didnt have anything that would work, but when I went to the clay location they were able to help me find the correct replacement.
Great store with the most helpful people working there. Went to two different stores this week. John at Dewitt store was awesome. Today I had a return to Camillus store with no receipt. No problem...was given a store credit. Store had everything and excellent employees. Im hooked for life!!!
Have always liked this store, but, not happy today. Came for 20 bags of mulch, no one showed up to load thereby after 2 calls on loudspeaker, leaving my husband to load, I had back surgery and could not help, and they werent busy at all, so I guess cashier cant do the job.
Im a bit bias towards home depot. Im prefer another store I wont mention to be far towards home depot. But what I always get here no matter what is paint. They carry behr which is a bit pricey but for a home owner its worth it. They do rebates on them often and everyone Ive encountered in the paint department is friendly and knowledgeable.
We recently decided to change out all the exterior door handles on our home and went to Home Depot to make those purchases. We found out while we were shopping that Home Depot could re-key all the handles so they were all one key. We were referred to Riccardo at the Camillus Home Depot to have this done. There is something to be said for the customer service skills of the older generation. Riccardo is an 81 year old employee still actively working at the Home Depot and I would say their best employee. Riccardo was personable, friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable about his work. Come to find out he has been working for Home Depot for 20 years! If every customer service based business had an employee like Riccardo they would be super successful.
Great freakin customer service on the floor. I went in looking for AAAA batteries, which I had no idea existed until my girlfriend handed me one and said Please, I need a couple of these. And I said What? And she said, Quadruple A batteries. And I said, Huh! What? And she said, Just go, to which I replied Okey Dokey (but thats not what I was THINKING)... So then hopped in the car and hit Home Depots who cleared things up by plopping a package of em right in my hand. Energizers. Boo yaa!!!
Looking for a solar light for porch, asked for directions, not really helpful. Back at area no one to help me. Finally found someone going to lunch, asked for help. Someone finally came & said I was in wrong area. Said I should go to opposite end of store. I said forget it. Had to buy 2.lights when I only wanted 1, have to get that at other end of store. Not a real happy visit
Today I had to return one of my companies paslode 18 gage trim nailer. Assistant store manager Dan Reed at store#1257 Camillus was not only helpful in returning the product he was also most helpful in explaining the return policy concerning gas powered tools.I felt he went above and beyond in helping to resolve situation. Thanks again Dan.
Yesterday (Monday 1/16/17) I went to Home Depot looking to purchase a refrigerator. I had seen their flyer in Sundays paper and also looked on-line at some models. The first salesperson that asked if she could help me went on-line to see the ones that I was looking at, then walked away to attend a meeting. Another salesperson asked if I had any questions and I asked if there were any on display that I could look at. I was told that if I wanted to see those display models I should go to Lowes since they had none on display. She then said if you have anymore questions I will be at my desk and walked away. If that was an example of Home Depots customer service, it will be a long time before I go there again for anything! I
In the past, my experiences with HD had left me wanting so I tended to go to their primary competitor. However, I have found that HD has upped their game, and I find they tend to have a better selection of things. Ive also found their staff very helpful and willing to go that extra mile. So Ive given them 4 stars. Thats a huge upgrade from the past.
As a US NAVY Veteran, I really appreciate that Home Depot puts effort into recognizing those who served, whether its offering the 10% discount, or setting aside a couple parking spots. I have always found the staff in Camillus to be friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
Was going to order 3 bags of mulch for a project. Bags were about $3.33 each. Since the Camillus doesnt have ANY mulch to buy online for store pickup, website said $8.99 for delivery. They want to charge $8.99 for EACH BAG OF MULCH to be delivered, as my order came to about $65. Guess Ill go to Lowes.
Okay Selection, But......I have become a pseudo plumber since the Moen faucet failed without a warranty. Cool, this was a chance to get a new one. I got the new one, but I needed the finishing touches to add like more plumbers putty, and tape. I also wanted spray-on liquid to assist me with the old bolts. When I asked where I can find the rusted bolt spray, I was given exact directions, and found it. I picked up the putty, and tape as well. I then proceed to pay for these items in the self-check line. The was a gentleman in front of me, but he was not finished yet; then an overweight woman tries to force me to pay for my items before the gentleman leaves. I see him lady, youre not looking! I have noticed that many overweight women try to be overbearing in order to feel better. Youll catch more flies with honey, over vinegar sweetie.
The main drawing point for me is that HD is the only retailer that sells Ryobi 18v tools. The store doesnt stand out from other large box home centers, but also is no worse than any other. I typically check pricing against the Blue store, and my local lumber yard. None of them are always better. It may even depend on which one has the inventory to fill my order. The Rigid tool line is egual to other quality lines. The life time warranty is something that I insist on when buying hand tools.Home Depot is worth stopping in. If not your exclusive hardware store, it should at least be one that you consider.
Our organization Women Build, Syracuse Habitat for Humanity had a workshop o how to make a coat rack last month. March 14, 2019 we had a workshop at Camillus Home Depot on how to make a knee wall. We learned how to use power tools (e.g. circular saw and drill). In addition to these tools other hand tools: hammer, T square, a square, measuring tape and razor. We built the frame, cut sheet rock and nailed it together. It was great hands on class! Our instructor is Jay. Hes awesome and patient teaching so many women a few tricks of the trade!!!!I cant wait for the next session!
Its a large store inside and that can be both good and bad. Youll find lots of products inside to suit your home needs, but it can be overwhelming if you dont know where to look. Many times youll need the assistance of staff to guide you where to go to find your product.
This employee by the name sherlly is rude ...and not helpful at all and because I am Puerto ricin ..she was talking to her other employee about me and my kids ....then when I ask for her name she try to say that my son was showing his pritive part ......no way did it happen..

2022-06-29No refund for a stove I was never allowed possession of - two weeks and counting. Multiple phone calls. No refund. Over $1,200 total.Today I called CC company to dispute the charge. Apparently that’s necessary before calling the FTC.Purchased an electric slide in stove 3/17/22. Called to specify slide in stove install after reading the fine print pert drop in stoves. Was assured slide in vs drop in - NO PROBLEM.delivery guys refused to unscrew a bracket. A BRACKET ( so when you lean on it it doesn’t come forward) a standard slide in oven thing= ‘Too much liability’.On the truck it stayed.Calls pertaining to refund : I was berated for the likely culprit being ME - faulty shut off valve. (That pertains to gas only) egg on face? No problem. Move onto hard sell - Tried to ‘resell’ me the same product and send out with new (subcontracted ) guys. NO. JUST NO. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.Apparently their answer to give money back for the product you wouldn’t deliver and I don’t possess is also NO JUST NO.YOU HAVE TO SUE THEM FOR YOUR MONEY BACK for a product they never gave you .Edit 6/28/22.Through cc company it took almost 4 months to recoup my money.Home Depot never responded or acknowledged a single thing even when the cc company and pro account reps tried to fix it.I have a pro account. 20-50k per year. No two sh!t given. How you think you’ll be treated?

2022-06-26Delf checkout is nice but when there are a lot of people waiting they cant be bothered to open a register....Why not just close the store and turn it into a drive up service since your employees cant be bothered.

2022-01-01I was in your store on Dec. 31 around 9:00 -9:30am. I had brought my purchase so I asked the lady at the return desk if I could leave my purchase just for about 15 min because it was too heavy to carry at the time so I could go get my car at Dunn Tire and she said NO so I returned the items. This is not the first time your employees was rude. Those Caucasian female workers you got working there are so RUDE. Just because you are in Camillus your company better watch it. You might be having a future law suit one day or a social media outburst. I didn’t get the girl name but she was 5’2 brownish/blonde hair, stocky.

2021-07-18I typically do my home improvement/project shopping at Home Depot if I cannot find materials at local specialty stores, or sometimes just for convenience. Most of the time, my experience is pleasant and they usually have the material I need in stock. However, Ive had one experience that stands out where the customer service was clearly lacking. The employee in the paint section seemed as if I was interrupting their time when I asked for them to point me to a particular product (although this employee was not doing anything at the time). Otherwise, the store is a good place to shop for your home improvement/project needs with fairly good customer service.

2022-01-30Home Depot is becoming little more than establishment driven garbage. Their employees are identity hires, rude, and helpless as an understatement. Add to that, their lumber is almost as crooked as the Bidens.
