The Home Depot in other cities:
Worst experience Ive ever had with a company. If I could rate this lower it would be a MINUS 10!!! I doubt if theyll even publish this one. I ordered this machine Feb 9th, was given a delivery est-OK. Then 2 notices later, its to be delivered in 1.5 weeks, it came Feb17th. Truck came late to my house at 5PM. Go to unload it and discover one whole side was caved in and base/floor pan was smashed in- appeared from a forklift. I refused delivery & driver sent info in & said new one ordered and would get delivery time in a day or so. Well today (18th) they call & say it wont be delivered til MARCH 1st!!! Call Co & want delivered sooner-no. I cancel order--then an hour on phone to do that & they say my refund will take 5-7 working days!!! No washer all this time, holding my money hostage so I still cant get a washer. Definitely will NEVER shop with this Mickey Mouse outfit again--not happy.
By far the worst experience Ive ever had at home depot. Went and spent over 2000 dollars on flooring and cupboards to remodel our bathroom. The cabinets we picked out had plenty in stock on the shelf. They called a few days later to let us know that the cabinets we picked and paid for were no longer in stock and they did not know when they would be able to get more in.And we have been waiting over 2 weeks for our other items we bought and paid for ro be delivered to our home. They stated its a 3rd party company who picks up the products and delivers them. Okay find but why are you not in contact with the 3rd party company who delivers your produces?!?I will never go through home depot for another home project. Just a very unprofessional manner of handling things. Very disappointed.
Closest HD to where I live. 1 1/2 hour drive but worth the time. Well stocked and helpful associates. As a former Department Manager for Home Depot I tend to be critical about locations. This location provided all my appliances for our new home in PA and all of the flooring. Great job.
Two people were very friendly and welcoming. I had my puppy with me and the one nice lady said hello to her and gave her a treat. The other employee helped me find what I was looking for. A couple were a little rude or just didnt speak as we walked by. All in all, not bad.
Jim, already retired once over, is currently working in the outdoor equipment area. This individual went above and beyond in my last visit to the Olean Home Depot location. Courteous and informative would be an understatement. Sir, Ill be looking for your insight on my next visit. You deserve a raise. Thank you again.
Clean storeFriendly staff who go above and beyond to assist. Whether its locating a product or assisting with bulky, heavy products from the store to my tailgate and loaded .I enjoy shopping at the Olean store because the staff makes all the difference in choosing wether I might stop and shop while out of the area.I wait untill Im back in the Olean area. Stress free
Home Depot was as usual my last choice. Only went out of desperation as always. Tons of inventory blocked by forklifts and fences. Asked for help for help finding a specific item but was obviously being a bother to a clueless clock watcher. They just dont care to help you like the guy in your local hardware store does..
I just witnessed several young able boddied employees completely ignore an older gentleman in the lumber department asking for assistance. This man was older, looked tired and had on an arm brace, he asked several of the young employees for help and all they did was look at him and walk pass. Later at the check out counter I saw the nice check out girl try to get some of those same young men to help take the lumber out to the mans truck and help load it. Again they ignore the request. I have to say it this is an example of their customer service Im not impressed,
Went to pick up a door. They did not have what I wanted on the shelf so I went to the millwork desk to see if it was something they could order, No one there. Went to the pro desk for some help, Brandon was there at the computer right in front of me and didnt acknowledge my presence. Not a hello, ill be right with you nothing. Went to customer service who told me there wasnt anyone in millwork until 1045.. you could try the pro desk. Fail.
The best place to shop in this area for home needs. Usually a descent selection on hand. Parking is excellent and spots for veterans. Truck rental is available. Most of the employees arent the most knowledgeable. A handful are the absolute best to talk to for assistance. Inconsistent at the service desk though. But again, best place to go in town for all your needs and price.
Today, very helpful people. Its still uncomfortable shopping w mask due to covid precautions, but doable and my guard is not as diligent as perhaps 2 months ago(good n bad my guard is less) I used self checkout. Which I typically try to avoid for principle reasons. The self checkout person offered assistance and was friendly. Overall store clean, stocked and organized.
Your quality of service really depends on whose working. I waited in line for paint for 20 minutes to be told by Taylor they were out of the paint I wanted. She didnt give me any other options other than come back in a few days when the shipment comes in which she didnt know exactly when that was. I asked her what other paints I could use and she said they really didnt have anymore. I was so disappointed in todays experience with home depot.
Took forever for someone to help us and the person that did help us didnt seem all that knowledgeable. Then the self check out credit card reader was faulty. Maybe it was just an off day, but I do find this place to always have some guy acting like he knows how to help you when I probably know more than him.
They are nice to you when they sell you something but if said appliance comes broken as mine did, they could care less about helping you. I bought a brand new washer and dryer and didnt use it right away due to being out of town. First time I used it, it leaked all over the floor. After making sure it was properly hooked up, I ran it again and it leaked yet again, confirming it was the washer itself. I called Home Depot right away and they promised me a call back no later than next morning. A call never came. I called them at 12:30 and we were just about to call you just to be told that they need to send a third party to do a service call since I exceeded the 48 hour refusal window. So they actually expect you to do a load of wash while the delivery guy waits in order for you to determine if both the washer and dryer work? I think paying $1600+ should be reason enough to honor providing your customer with a WORKING appliance out of the box. They also lied and told me the company who would do the service call could recommend replacement which was yet another lie they tell you because the service company told me they only tell you that so you dont complain to them but they expect them to fix only. They dont take recommendations. So basically they sell you a refurbished washer at the price of brand new and have no customer service concern for you whatsoever once they have your money. I will be telling everyone I know NOT to go to Home Depot, especially this location, if this is the standard way you are treated and pushed aside. You should be ashamed of yourself.
If I could rate them at a zero, I would. I placed an order online of in stock items for Express Delivery (next day) for a $79 fee. After waiting 2 days with no word on the status of the order, I called the store and was told [only after 25 minutes on the phone and waiting 30 more minutes for a call back] that there was a problem at the store with the order and after further delays the items werent delivered until 6 days later... and they were left on a pallet in my driveway IN THE RAIN while I was on the way home (3 minutes away) with no call that they had arrived and the delivery slip explicitly says UNATTENDED DROP: UNAUTHORIZED. As in, you dont just leave them and go... but they did. This was EXTREMELY poor customer service all around and I will never order anything from them again.
Needed some cinder blocks loaded, asked a female cashier to page someone, and she did. For 20 minutes, no one showed up. We loaded ourselves. Very few employees on the floor and no one greeted, said hi, asked if we needed help or made eye contact. Positive note: Cashier apologized for the issue, very quick checkout and friendly. Five stars for her and zero for the store. (3/31/20 14:15)
This home Depot is good. Store is usually quite organized and clean. However finding someone on the sales floor sometimes is a challenge. There is not quite the variety that youd expect from a business this big. Example: paint and stains are limited. Often pricey, and lack of quality customer service is the reason for the three stars.
We wanted to buy 24x24 pavers. We asked the associate in the garden center if someone would be able to help us load them into the truck. We were told that he could, he was helping someone load a grill and to find him when we were ready for help. The paver weighs over 90 pounds and I knew we would not be able to lift that from the cart into the bed of the truck. I went into the store to ask for help and was told by Stephanie that the pavers were not essential so the staff could not help us. I told her that we were told they could help us and that if not, we would have to return them. She told me the returns desk is right there.I regularly go to home depot in Olean for the convenience and I like to shop local but I will be going to Springville, Hornell, or Warren to shop at Lowes. If the items we bought were deemed nonessential then why are we allowed to purchase them and then put our health in jeopardy by loading items that were too heavy. If we had been told at the beginning that we were on our own, we would have purchased them at another time when we brought someone else with us.
Staff in flooring were nice. I was in electrical. Searching for a dual dimmer switch for a fan and a light. All I really wanted was replacement knobs for the switches. Searched for 20 minutes. No department person around. Found single replacement knobs but no dual. Found a complete new switch (only 1) obviously a return. Taped up container. $26 and change. Gave up and headed out. Discovered 3 isles down the exact switch Im searching for replacement knobs for. Still no department person. Went back and looked again to no avail. Left disappointed.
Ok This is my favorite Store. We bought things while there but had also made an order before we went. our order was ready for us. they always make it very easy for their Customers. there is always someone ready to help you find what you need. The Store has a great selection. A+!
Went to look for a screw for my ceiling fan. I was pretty sure they would have them. Could not seem to find the isle with fan parts. Saw a young lady who I asked. She took me right to what I needed. I was up from S.C. visiting my mom so I was able get the part and fix her fan.
Horrible experience - DO NOT TRUST their Pros and NEVER order anything custom through them. I sat down with their Pro to find a solution for the closet doors in my house. 2 weeks and over $600 later, when the order arrived, nothing was right. I had to call repeatedly because Nina who was supposed to be handling it, never returned my calls. When I tracked her down the customer service continued to be atrocious but eventually I reordered the doors. 3 weeks go by and nothing, so I call and call and I never did hear back from the store manager Zane Garmin. I finally get Nina and she tells me the order was automatically cancelled by the manufacturer because they had already delivered what was ordered. Now 6 weeks after the original order was placed, they are willing to replace the order after I have returned the original doors and I have to pay a 15% restocking fee. I found this unacceptable as it wasnt my or the manufacturers fault. I will never shop at another HomeDepot ever - no accountability with these big box stores. Buy Local my friends!
Pleasant staff (esp. Jessica at checkout), good seasonal selections, fairly knowledgeable staff. I only ran into one man who blocked off an isle for moving overhead objects and never bothered to remove the tape when done. I say knowledgeable staff because you cannot treat them all as though they are licensed carpenters or plumbers, even when you expect them to be.
DO NOT ORDER YOUR CARPET FROM HOME DEPOT! i was made aware the morning they were supposed to come to my house to install carpeting that they double booked me and i would have to wait until the following week to get it installed, there was nothing that was done for me. I have had carpeting installed from them before and the seems looked horrible but I wanted to have the same carpet installed so all of my rooms would match but I will never make that mistake again, be warned! Go to a privately owned carpet business, they care more about the customer not just the money.
Home depots are all the same short on staff if u can find them and so many times they dont have a associate working till 10:00 in appliance sections gives you time to shop till 10:00 at other appliance stores for me 3 times in 5 yrs no one working to assist on the purchase of a new appliance
Since I bought my house I choose home depot for my project aid. I even went as far as to get a home depot credit card. Ive spent $3,900 + my own cash for a vouple thousand in the last year only to be treated like scum from employees. Most of the staff in general is good to work with in Olean N.Y. location. However their are a few bad apples in the pie. I purchased a $3400 pellet furnace. It was delivered to the store with dents/damage. The store was only willing to take $100 off. Then I have bought all my pellets so far this winter from the Olean location. I was given an attitude from the cashier because I asked if they had any of the planers I was looking for in stock. She was in an apparent hurry to cash me out (I was the only one there at 7:30am) then when I tried to explain that they needed the extention lift to load the pellets on my trailer because the regular one wont work. I was given further attitude! I drove to the back lot where I waited 15min and no one showed up to load me. So i thought maybe I was in the wrong lot and went in to customer service where I was met with further attitude from another cashier. Finally someone came to load me (were 25min at this point) the guy that came to load me brought the regular fork lift. The fork lift driver gave me attitude because I wanted the weight OVER THE AXLES OF MY TRAILER, NOT ON THE TOUNGE OF THE TRAILER! So I drove back up to the check out side of the building. At this point I am very irritated because Im at 35min with 3 attitudes from employees!!! I walk into the contractor check out and asked if I could get someone to operate the extention lift BECAUSE THATS WHAT I NEED and Im at 40min now! The same cashier from the beginning of this story greeted me with a sarcastic youll be fine and walked away from me as I stood there still trying to get my trailer loaded!!!!! Finally an older gentleman came over to me and said he would help me! Told me exactly where he wanted me to park. Loaded my trailer in just a short minute and I was on my way after 50min to get one pallet of pellets loaded on my trailer!
Very friendly and helpful staff. I went in looking for something and the staff not only guided me to what I was looking for, but also mentioned that the item had a life time warranty. They helped me get the item replaced right then and there. They went about and beyond!
Terrible was rushed out of store by employees turning the lights off great someone could have tripped in the dark and no associates in site to help facilitate the customers to find their things they need to purchase so as to get them out of the store quicker they need proper management and then leaving 1 cashier to look after all the customers who had purchased things makes no sense
Theres people to help you and they are quick to respond and they do there job well the place is easy to find what you want and as quick as posibal. The cashing out is fast and easy and the employees and cashiers are nice and will help you when you need it. It is a great place for home idem and I will definitely go back there because there product is good
Finally while making a trip to the local Home Depot in Olean. A fellow in the orange apron by the name of Wes went above and beyond to ensure that I got the correct part did I needed. Other people walked away, wouldnt make eye contact, and really didnt care. Too many roamers and not enough caring people. But the fellow by the name of Wes hes the Superstar. Bravo Zulu Wes thank you.
Sadly I can not give a negative star. Every time I shop here I am racially profiled and it is getting out of hand. If I walk in those doors it is to purchase something I am a paying customer and should be treated as such. Asking someone once if they need help is acceptable. Having three or 4 employees confront you while shopping is obnoxious. I am contacting your cooperate office human resource department to perhaps shed some light on the discrimination I experience every time I step in those doors. Further more the next time someone decides to ask me for help or hide at the end of an isle I am going to request them to push my cart throughout the store until I am done shopping so they can at least do something productive and not waste company time.
My husband had bought a Makita brad nailer after 3 times of use it stopped working i had the receipt and wanted to exchange for another. The woman told me I couldnt because I bought it more then 30 days ago and it wasnt in the box it came in. Said i needed to call the makita place and they would replace it so i did and he informed me that at the bottom of my receipt it should say how many days i have to return it it said 90 day so i called told them my problem then they try to tell me that i can only exchange it and not return for a different brand i had my original receipt will never shop here again and being in the rental business I spent alot of money here.
Today was the worst service at home depot. A gentleman had to cut trim boards at 6ft. He cut them at 511. I looked all over the store for an employee to help find a breaker. Finally had to go to service desk and ask for help back there. Go to check out to find they were wrong size board. Cashier trid for 10 minutes on phone to het someone to cut right size trim. Then it took them another 25 minutes to do it. To top it all off im assuming the girl that originally was checking us out when on break. Another young gentleman took over. When i finally got the trim brought up this gentleman seen me standing to check out turned back around to his computer he was just reading on and ignored me. The original girl showed back up looked towards him in disgust. She was very pleasant and checked me out. Hope this doesnt ever happen again because we do plenty of business there.
I want to take a minute and thank The Olean NY Home Depot. My mother is on chemo meds and some how the UPS people screwed up and delivered my mothers meds to this store ( why? Its beyond me) but the Co workers there took it upon themselves to find my mother and contact her to tell them they had her chemo meds. They also were willing to have one of their workers drive my mothers medication to her personality. So I want to thank them for all that they did to make sure my mom got her medications and just didnt throw them away. So Olean Home depot o thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness will not go unnoticed!!
This place was my go to for all my big and small projects.... well not anymore thanks to Jessica who was working cash register while i checked out at 9:06 a.m. the wood selection was not up to my standards and spent time looking through what i could get to and all i asked was for a little discount seeing how i cant use most of it due to cracked, split ends and will have to buy and use more wood for a project that is already costing me a good amount..... ive had a issue before but the lady made sure to take something off for inconvenience.... also this jessica was very very rude and didnt have much of a friendly face. i RECOMMEND buying local, go to worth smith. home depot is already expensive enough to have to deal with moody, unhelpful people. thanks for starting my day off right JESSICA OF HOME DEPOT OLEAN NY
Got a call from them from an associate who was hard to understand telling me my online order had arrived. I drove the 20 miles to the store to find out only the base of the complete shower unit had arrived. Not sure why they dont look at the details of an order before calling you to come pick it up. So not happy

2022-06-30Its my go to big box home improvement store. The wife doesnt like me going there.( lol I spend to much money there). The employees are very knowledgeable and can usually answer any questions you have. And there prices are reasonable for the most part. Its a very rare occasion that I go in there looking for some specific item and not find it.

2022-06-09They seem to have most everything one would need, and usually its impossible to find an employee to assist you... but the last time I was there, the inventory stated 129 of the items in stock I needed 4 of, and not one of the 3 employees and a manager could find a single one of them anywhere... and they were all very helpful and jovial with me about the situation. So it seems that our Olean/Allegany home depot is getting better in some ways.

2022-04-13I had a string of bad luck with my last few orders through Home Depot. None of which were really HD’s fault yet I feel they made every reasonable attempt to correct the situation. Thanks HD for your help on everything

2017-05-28You can never ever ever get anyone to help you get, lift, carry or unload anything. I have purchased countless materials here (renovated 2 houses & landscaped both). Last year one of the associates in the garden center actually took our flatbed cart that we were attempting to load ten 24x24 cement pavers on. This Thurs I bought 2 carts full of stuff in the garden center & couldnt get a soul to help reach things on the top shelves or to help get it all to my vehicle. As usual- I unloaded it myself & pulled my back out (I heard & felt a pop when I lifted the heavy pavers). I could barely sit to drive home. So, I have spent 3 days in bed laying on ice packs & taking ibuprofen & Tylenol every 6hrs. I can finally stand & walk today without being hunched over. Thanks alot Home Depot for ruining my holiday weekend. I think after a decade of dealing with this- I will drive the extra miles & go to Lowes in Warren.
