A MUST for any DIYer. Great for all odds and ends whether fixing up something outside or inside. Staff is kind.l but sparse. Download the app and it will tell you the aisle and bag of everything you want. Makes shopping easier. Self checkout is great. Expect lots of carts strewn throughout the parking lot not in the cart return (it’s a rite of passage) and expect lots of terribly parked cars. Join them by parking sideways. The paint people here are especially nice!
Im very happy with my home depot store in Gates, NY picked out paint colors and the girl at the counter was so very helpful and very knowledgeable in helping me. And the gentleman helped pick my 5 gallon of paint in my car. Everyone at this location is so very nice. We always shop here! Thank you Cheri
I know that stores are short staffed, I get that. What I dont get is the three employees I did see talking and laughing while I needed help. I was quite a distance from them. I started walking towards them and waving. They split apart and I never found any of them. Perhaps they were off the clock? If so, they shouldnt be out on the floor. I love this store. Of course they usually have what I need. Sometimes I have questions though. The store needs to really get more employees. I know its tough right now. I was going to leave 3 stars, but Im leaving four because when they are fully staffed they are great. Lets get people working again.
I just want to share that even though my customer service experience at the Gates Home Depot was not optimal, the young man at the service desk who checked out my purchase was exceptional. He took the time to look up my daughters purchase and was HAPPY to sell her the additional sq. ft. she needed at the price she paid 30 days prior. Now thats what I call an EXCEPTIONAL employee. That extra mile means everything!!
Worst customer service and I would rate a 0 if possible. Received confirmation that my flooring was ready for pick up so coordinated a truck to pick it up to find out it was not at the store but still shipping. Called customer service to find out there was actually 1 out of 60 cases available that prompted the pickup. Received another confirmation that the whole order was available today so once again arranged a truck to pick it up. After going to the customer service desk, they directed me to park over where the contractors pickup material. I double checked the amount of cases and only had 59 loaded out of 60. I went back into the store and they forgot the 1 case that was behind the customer service desk that originally arrived. While putting the 1 case in the truck I noticed damage to multiple cases. I then went back in again to let the customer service rep Matthew know and he came out to verify. He told me to leave with no need to come back in the store and that he will take care of reordering 10 cases and there will be an email sent confirming when they are available for pickup. Then there was a voicemail left by him after I left stating that he can’t perform the transaction and that I would have to bring the damaged cases back for a return. I went back and he was at lunch apparently so another individual helped me. He said there was an update with the system where they couldn’t perform the transaction without returning the bad ones first. He then gave an attitude when I stressed to him it should have been taken care of before I left the first time. He pursued to issue a refund and state the new purchase transaction would only be eligible for 6 months no interest instead of the original 24 months no interest. I asked multiple times for a manager which he stated they do not have one on site. After leaving and calling the customer service 1-800 number, it was clear that he lied and there actually was a manager on site. For paying just under $4,000 for flooring, I would have expected to have quality product where Home Depot employees would be the ones inspecting instead of the customer! Never again with this store as they are liars and wasted my time and gas with multiple trips back and forth. Don’t even entertain dealing with the customer service team on site and shop elsewhere.
The workers were very helpful with their help in what we need to take care of the problems we had once again thank you do so much for the help, the worker help us and took us at the register to order what we needed because its was out of stock and order we needed will be deliver to our home. Thanks for all you done for us.
Super disappointed! Costumers service not so polite and super long to fixed the problem they make!My husband order online material for roofing and flooring almost $3000 but then they dont complete off delivering our order!So many missing!Take so long to tell them that they dont deliver some of our order!After calling for almost 2 hours They sending us to come to this home Depot but suck super slow costumers service !still not really fix all the problem ! Some order are still missing and we already feeling disappointed!So we dont want to get bother to make more call or complain!
I ordered a bathroom vanity online and home delivery wasnt available so I chose curbside pickup. After receiving an email that it had arrived and was ready for pickup I drove to the store and used the app to notify them I had arrived. This was around 1:30 pm. After waiting about 20 minutes I went into the store to the customer service desk. I was informed that no one was working in curbside today. She made several pages trying to get someone to bring my order out to no avail. She finally grabbed someone walking by and got them to get my order. It ended up taking almost an hour to get my curbside pickup.
Horrible customer service. Multiple times trying to get a hold of someone. I sit on hold for over 20 minutes then someone answers then hangs up. Finally get a hold of someone and let him know that the tires on my brand new lawn mower keep going flat since I bought them. He just says...uh, what do you want me to do? Do not recommend. This is not the first issue with this store.
Purchased a washer and dryer. Delivery men arrived with a poor attitude. Told me they were just delivering the washer and dryer and not paid to hook them up. I was told I needed to hire someone to do that or have Home Depot come out. One driver was so rude he almost made my wife cry. They said the were running late and came from Buffalo NY. Not my problem. I was told the drivers would hook up the washer and dryer by the Home Depot Salesperson . No need for the way my wife or myself were treated. What kind of people does Home Depot hire for delivering appliances? Never again. I will buy my appliances local from now on. Just low life scum that arrived at my home.. One even smelled like he was drinking and had bad body odor.
Terrible customer service from the lumber department again, caught attitude from employee for wanting to use a cart and the store was out of stock on most of what I needed. One redeeming thing is great customer service from one of employees in the hardware department.
Came in to look at new counter tops with my husband, Rachel Guy kept avoiding us as it was very obvious. My husband then said excuse me we are interested in purchasing counter tops and we know which one we want as well, Rachel rolled her eyes and said do you have the measurements because I cant do anything without measurements in a very rude manner. We were under the assumption that they would handle the measurements as they are the professionals in this profession. Rachel rudely handed her card to us and said call me with your measurements when youre ready and walked away without a goodbye or anything. We will take our business elsewhere with someone who is willing to work with the customer.
They seem inept. The items wouldnt scan at the self checkout so i went to the pros area where some employees were standing around. the guy kept trying to scan the items after i told him they wouldnt. i pulled up the items on the website but he said that wasnt helpful. finally someone else came over, looked up the items on the website and entered the product numbers. my next mistake was asking for a military discount. the guy was confused and kept asking for my card to scan. what card? anywho, he eventually said he couldnt do the discount at those registers and id have to go to the other ones. went to the other registers to check out and the lady there gave me a hard time about asking for the military discount. you know, im not supposed to do this. youre supposed to register for the discount and im not supposed to give it to you. i will do it this time but i cant do it again. well.. thanks for giving me the advertised discount, i guess. then i tried to pay with the in-store credit from a return. oh the horror. apparently, its tied to a name on an ID. my id didnt match the name they had entered for the credit. somehow, the person who issued the credit spelled my name wrong. they wouldnt let me use the credit without the receipt it was issued on. 45 minutes home, 45 minutes back again, grab all my items once again, the lady refuses to give me the military discount and theyre giving me a hard time about the store credit. they finally allowed me to use it after realizing it looked like customer service horribly misspelled my name. dont go here expecting success or helpful employees. i guess everyone peed in everyone elses Wheaties that morning.
I’m done. Enough with the price gouging. Just walked out after looking at your lumber prices. I understand supply and demand particularly when lumber mills were closed and demand was high during COVID but now I can see the shelves are overloaded and the prices keep skyrocketing by the day. And I watched 3 contractors do the same. And if Home Depot says they’re overpaying too and doesn’t or can’t use their buying power to correct the market than they have to be lying. Not to mention your lumber is trash. People say there’s no difference between the Orange Store and the Blue Store. There absolutely is. Left the Orange Store and save 30% at the Blue. So there’s a difference to me. Guess I know where my business is spending money now. You may be closer Orange but you’re just not worth it.
Your typical big box store that is well organized. I have been to others that have been understaffed and I was disappointed but the merchandise is good quality and I do still shop there. This particular store is one of the ones I would shop at more often because of the people, merchandise and quality of product.
I placed an online order and received a confirmation that it was ready for curbside pick up. I waited in the car for twenty minutes and no one came out or called. I then walked into the store in an attempt to pick it up from the service desk. They apologized for the wait, but explained that they could not find it. I left feeling frustrated, but received a phone call about twenty minutes later that put my mind at ease. It was the service desk calling to let me know that they had found it. I went right back to the store, and picked it up. Again, they apologized for the inconvenience, and I was on my way. Although I lost some of my time this evening, in the end, I am satisfied with the product, and I was very impressed by the excellent customer service that I received from Lauren upon pick up. The most important piece to all of this is that it is evident that the store is understaffed, and their current employees need more assistance and support in doing their day to day jobs such as pulling and organizing orders like this one. Im not sure that I have ever seen The Home Depot as busy as they have been lately, and I hope that they as a company will focus their attentions on staffing their stores accordingly including this location in Gates.
Was supposed to get a delivery last week for our fridge. Long story short they never showed up then made us wait until today for our delivery. So we waited, then they showed up and said they forgot it at the warehouse. Now we were forced to drive over a hour to pick it up or wait another week. And they won’t even reimburse us for anything
Just used the free curbside pickup service to get some flooring. I received a text telling me that my order was ready. I followed instructions on the link provided in text message when I arrived in my parking spot. The order was loaded in my truck in less than 10 minutes. Great experience.
I had bought a wall fireplace with a warranty and was going in circles registering because I bought in store not on line. September 14, 2020 was my second time going to the store. The first time going back I had a rude woman which I told her that I registered it with the warranty department and they said I need to go back to the store to have it registered with them. Which I did go to the store and received no help other than being told that the warranty doesnt mean nothing if its not registered. Sunday I was blessed to have Stephanie in the Customer Returns and when I told her my delima she instantly tried to get help for me. I was angry because I had spend $380 and was going in circles to insure my warranty was applied. I was lucky it was a slow morning and she tookbthe time to walk me through the process and made sure my warranty process was correct. I was ready to return and go and buy it some where else. Stephanie went above and beyond her job.Need more employees like her because it is the customer that keeps companies profitable .
Drove from Brockport to purchase some plants even when I have a Lowe’s close by. I drove on a rainy afternoon. When I got there I got a few Zinnias that I had found in the back of the garden inside store and got excited as I thought they’d be on sale given they were just tossed in a cart and we’re starting to look dry and dead. When I got to pay they scanned at regular price so I asked the girl at self checkout (where I was). I explained where I had find them and though they were on sale. The girl said oh yeah there being thrown away if you found them back there, so you can buy at regular price or not. I asked not even half price? She said nope. The least she could of done was ask a manager but she showed no interest in helping. She said our flowers are taken care of by a separate company outside of Home Depot so we don’t take care of the prices. I was surprised to hear that so I didn’t even waste my time asking for a manager. The plants were scanning at $7.98 and they were being thrown away so Why would I purchase at regular price when there being thrown away??? left the cart right at checkout and told her thanks I don’t want them. Poor customer service. I wished I asked prior to getting to self checkout but had a hard time finding anyone. I wasted gas and time, Never again. Sorry, I’d rather go to Lowe’s, not only do they match price but their military discount is the best in comparison with Home Depot.
Went to get a vacuum belt and couldnt get anyone to help. Literally went up to 2 different people and 1 guy pointed into the wrong direction. Fine... 2nd person a young woman wouldnt even walk with me she also pointed to the wrong direction now she was busy conversating with another coworker. I was very disappointed with the Customer Service at this location. I have never experienced treatment like that before. Not to mention I was properly masked up and keeping my distance. Still no love. Sad. Good luck at this location
Staff was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable as always!! Was in and out in extremely quickly. I was also very pleased with the decent amount of choices and varieties/brands of the specific sized furnace filter i needed. I was able to get a pretty good deal as well thanks to their bundle value packs!! It was my first time using their self checkout aisle and I was shocked are how simple, efficient, easy and quick it was!! Deff will be shopping there more often
Definitely, prefer The Home Depot over Lowes now. And I wish I could give them 5 stars, but I cant. Theyve changed their policy on their military Veterans discount. Its still 10% off, but only up to $50 off! Today we worked around it and purchased our flooring in batches, to get the maximum discount. And Im sure now The Home Depot will further change it to the discount only being used once a day, but I dont care. We are in the middle of renovating our home through Lowes and we arent having the best experience with them, so weve decided to make The Home Depot our go-to for home improvement. But one thing Lowes got right is their military Veterans discount. Its still 10% off of all merchandise, without a limit. Weve spent thousands in some of our visits, with no cap on our discount. Apparently, the cap at The Home Depot is fairly new. Not sure how new, but it is unfortunate.
I just purchased a Sheet of 3/4 inch plywood I asked for help and a cart to 4 guys standing doing nothing , I was told to get a cart which none around to be found they said go outside and get one , which I did because the lazy workers cant bring them in and when i get back inside they saw i had the cart they turned and walked away . I would not care except my age is 68 and with back problems . I hope that Karma bites them hard
My go-to for just about anything! Its my #1 supply house for work and Ill even check here for anything at home before we go anywhere else. Even the wife rolls her eyes when she asks me to pick something up and I immediately go to HD! Its the people! No matter what I need, they can help! Between Pete and Phil in electrical to Greg and Jerome in plumbing, there is always someone competent to answer questions as they come up! Rose, Chuck, Tonya, and the crew at the pro desk are second to none! Any time I need gardening supplies or seasonal equipment, Ginny and them in Gardening are always helpful and knowledgeable! Dont even get me started with the customer service desk! Those guys are the best!
This place is awful, I have nothing but issues here. No one know what there doing, I put an on line order in three days ago for curb side pick up went to go get it three days later after they said it was ready,got there it was not ready then wanted me to stand in there line to go in. I canceled my order and am done with that store. Lowes isnt much better but never have I been through there what home depot put me through. And dont get lumber from there. Horrible quality
There were no carts available - all filled with merchandise and scattered around the store, blocking aisles and leaving me to drag a full sheet of plywood to the panel saw. I asked an employee if he could cut the panel for me. He said no and walked away. Rude. Finally a young employee comes up and clearly hes never even used the same before and cut the panels to the wrong size. So choatic, disorganized, and unprofessional.
I really like the pro desk here. Very knowledgeable and thorough. Not thrilled with the new layout / self check out. No counter space! I think whomever did this remodel designed East Ave Wegmans parking lot. You are a home improvement store, that did a remodel, that made your store.....worse. That being said, the employees are the strength at this location for sure!
I went here today after my dentist appointment and I was dreading having to go up and down the isles trying to find things, I just wanted to get in and out.When I walked in, they immediately said Hello and asked me if I needed help. I was in and out in 10 minutes for the first time ever! The other location I usually go to doesnt give as great service, this was great!
My daughter, granddaughter and I went to look at carpeting. T.J. helped us get the carpeting, padding (even cut it for us) and was so knowledgable, friendly and professional in the whole process.Also, someone walked up and asked if we needed help in paint and backsplash.So we left with carpet, padding, paint, backsplash and more.Very pleased with the instant help, prices and overall trip. 😊
I ordered a buffet online and called the Gates location to inquire about a drawer that was damaged and needed to be replaced.I have never experienced such RUDE customer service as I have at this Home Depot. Two different people made no attempt to give me information to help resolve my inquiry. I was hung up on twice when I asked to speak to a Manager .I have tried calling vendor and have not received a return call . Absolutely horrible experience.I
NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN!!! Ordered and payed for 24, 2x2foot block on sunday, went to pick up Tuesday at 5 (the time I was told to pick up) Went to the service desk where they told me my order hadnt been picked yet and I needed to go to garden to have them pick it. (They also had me move my truck to outside the garden gate)They couldnt find the block anywhere. Finally they were able to find 15 out of the 24 so I was going to just take the 15 and be back for the other 9 another day. (They had me move the truck to around the side of garden) it took another 10 minutes to find someone working that was licensed to operate the fork lift. Finally found someone (45 minutes in) The fork lift operator than informed me he couldnt go off the concrete and I had to AGAIN move my truck. At this point I was done. I got my money back and left with no block. The manager I spoke with, Tyler seemed to be annoyed and didnt really care about the awful service. He barely spoke to me and didnt even apologize. What a waste of time!!! (The woman in garden was very nice and apologize profusely even though she did nothing wrong)
I dropped off a tiller to be fixed in April. Its now October got a call its ready to be picked up. I was given a tiller that was not fixed, blades taken off and not even given to me. No explanation. Its useless garbage will never go back to get something repaired. Waste of a trip.
I just had the worst experience I’ve had at a store in a long time. I walked in to what I thought was a place I could be in because there was no sign listed that stated otherwise. Once I started walking to grab a plant, I got yelled at, not just talked to, I got YELLED at. I walked away shaking. I not only felt embarrassed, but I never want to go back. If I could give 0 stars I would. Horrible employee. I would be extremely disappointed if I had her working for me.
I can understand that maybe plywood and two by fours are not really essential but my husband and daughter and myself shopped there today for the lumber we asked for help loading it and were told we had to load it yourself my husband walks with a cane real nice of the workers
Absolutely a freaking joke! Placed a phone order a day in advance, and when we got there for the scheduled pick up it took them 20 minutes to realize the order wasnt pulled yet. It is now over an hour after the scheduled pick up and still have not seen my materials.Update:At 4:30 (an hour and a half later) it was realized that it was in fact pulled just not marked correctly. So if you have the time to waste this store is for you.
I ordered a counter top for my kitchen, and the company that Home Depot sent, installed the sink. The sink leaked water around the edge of the sink. I called the company (she’ll fab) they said that no way they installed the sink, (a lie) so I asked them to review the pics taken by the worker to prove they installed the sink, I got zero responses to that request. So I called Home Depot back and told the manager Brad (Gates’s NY) what happened, he basically brushed me off. So I called back 2 days later hopping to talk with a different manager, but I got him again, so to get rid of me, he offered me a lousy 50.00 credit and basically told me to get lost, no remorse on how I was treated.so sad
Went to the store to use my credit card that when I applied online for it says just give them your temporary card info to run the payment till you get the card in the mail! Well apparently not for that cashier and she refused to type in the info!!! Shows how lazy the workers are! Props to you guys for loosing out on not only a 600$ purchase tonight but a 2000$ appliances purchase to!!! Call the store manager and they say oh Im sorry she didnt know when I told the lady to call a manager while I was there she says, we cant type it in manually right okay thats what I thought GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Not my loss!
They have just about anything you need to keep your home working. Their finishing wood selection leaves a little too be desired. It is hard to find pieces that are not warped or chipped. Few of the staff knew what glazing points are when I asked for them. The window guy did though, as you would expect.
Theres not many occasions where Ive entered a Home Depot and not be greeted with a kind and warm welcome. Ive yet to recieve bad service either. Im starting to think every Home Depot is the same, the exact clone of one another. Its hard to do nowadays but so far, Im very impressed. You can find almost anything you need to repair, remodel or anything for the contractor or DIY at home projects.
Would rate lower if possible. All because of one man. Mike in tool rental. The man is an absolute nightmare to deal with and continuously brings up irrelevant personal issues anytime he sees or talks to me. Feeling that I have to avoid a specific employee because I would be verbally harrased is not a way to shop, or a way to get satisfied customers. Management and fellow team members of Mike are more than understanding knowing you cant control his outbursts and that it is unprofessional and inappropriate for either party to engage in any type of deliberate personal or verbal harrasment. Constantly pressing his opinions of myself and my father against us when they are unwelcomed and unwanted. All a customer can ask for is an understanding store to do business with.
Its a home depot! Has plenty of stuff inside. The greeter at the door always knows the aisle of the thing Im looking for. The parking lot is huge, and as all home depots go... make sure to park right in the middle of the Entrance/Exit doors! Its always a fun time looking for your car (kind of but not really).Staff is great. I recently got a wooden board cut. Dimensions came out ok. Not 100% perfect but good enough for my pet rabbit. Im sure he wont notice the .01% error in the roof to his new wooden house. If he does, then he may be the most OCD bunny in Rochester... Lets hope he doesnt notice.
If I could give their installation services a zero I would. They came and did the measuring for a job at my house, did part of the installation and then had to stop because some wrong material was delivered. I tried reaching the installer for weeks but, if you can believe it they didn’t have voicemail or emails so good luck getting a hold of them. Weeks later there it was finally corrected after I complained to a manager at Home Depot. Then they tried telling me I owed more labor charges because their measuring services quoted the installer as being able to do something that they weren’t actually qualified to do and would need to pay custom charges to finish the job. What seemed like a quick job became a long job that was ultimately a DIY.Go to Lowe’s in Brockport. They’ve just two installations for me and it was a total breeze. This was a nightmare.
Yesterday, I wanted to purchase a keyed door knob and have it keyed to my key specs. When I asked an associate in hardware about it he said Well (persons name) is on break and (other associate) is not here, so I dont know. So I asked if they would be there tomorrow and he said I dont know, I have to look at the schedule. So I said thank you for your help(facetiously). Then I went to Lowes Brockport this am and had it done on the spot, and purchased other items.

2022-06-09I was there this past Sunday, it was afternoon and it was very busy. The nice young employee said he sold the last freezer I wanted, on the way out of the area my husband found quite a few. They were very dusty so they have been there for a while, The employee thought that they just placed them there while he was on break.

2022-04-17Can’t ever find anyone that works there and I I see someone( or 3 ) they are discussing things that should not be discussed in front of customers. I always feel that I am intruding on them. And as I pointed out, there prices for chalk spray paint is $2-$3 more per can than other places.

2022-05-18Review is for kitchen remodelling only.About a month ago we got a quote for remodelling our kitchen. Its an average sized kitchen and its probably not had any major work for a number of decades. But the estimate we were given for new cabinets, back wash and counter tops came to around $30k. I understand that things are expensive but Im not asking for wood that comes from the Shire! We didnt ask for anything special or extra, just a remodeled kitchen. They also want you to make a yes decision within a very small time window or else you might end up paying more if you wait later to decide. The sales person was friendly enough but we decided to get some more quotes. The next quote came from a family owned business in Rochester. For the same work AND new flooring the quote came to Half the amount home depot were charging. Now the countertop might not be the same as what home depot were going to do but that still doesnt justify spending the extra amount. The main difference is the family owned business will do all the work where as home depot rely on sub contractors doing the work for them. Whether its commission or everyone wanting a slice of your money you cant help but feel home depot are robbing you blind as you are not just buying a newly modelled kitchen from one company doing the work. You should probably expect some increase in price shopping with these bigger companies but not $15,000+, thats border line extortion. They dont have a monopoly here, theyre not RGE or Spectrum. My advice would be get a free estimate from them first before you shop around because I can guarantee the next quote you will get from some place else will shock you but for all the right reasons. Dont be threatened into making a rushed decision with them, shop around and shop local.

2022-06-08Cannot reach them by phone, I have been trying since yesterday to call and verify if they have a particular item in stock (website says they have 6 but the drive is over an hour and I want to be certain). Tried calling several times yesterday afternoon and their phone system repeatedly hung up on us. Today Ive not been able to reach anyone and Ive been on hold for over 5 minutes at time of this writing (still on hold)Update: Was on hold for 15 minutes, got connected to their pocket and after a few seconds the call disconnected. Called again and got someone right away and verified the stock in less than 4 minutes.
