Stopped in to the Penfield store to get an idea of different types of shower tiles available as I will be remodeling my bathroom. Found a display of tiles but wanted to make sure they were appropriate for a shower. I asked this question of 3 associates in the area. None could answer my question and the third gentleman said I needed to make an appointment with someone to get my question answered.Since when?Dont bother Home Depot, Ill be taking my business elsewhere and wont trouble you again.
I ordered a custom door from Home Depot. Not only did the door come unfinished as shown in the pictures it was delivered with multiple gouges and significant damage for a new door. When I contacted the store I was told I can order a new door (which takes 2-3 months if you’re lucky). Well that doesn’t work for me as I have a siding project starting this week that I need the doors for. The best they could do was offer $300 for the damage and the door being unfinished (the door was a $2,500). Not to mention when I call and speak to a manager they give the impression that they couldn’t care less about the issue. For being such a big company I expect more for their customers! I would not recommend any special orders from this company.
Man do I love Home Depot! I dont live near one, so I checked online to make sure they had what I was looking for in stock. I get there and I cant find it. So I try to find an employee. After locating one, I walk towards the employee and they walk the opposite way after making eye contact. So I went to customer service. They said someone in that section could help me, so ok I walk back to that section. 20 mins later, I was able to ask an employee if they had the item in stock, they did not. Why does this happen every time I go to home depot.
Its still not that easy to find what you want quickly, but you will find what you want eventually. At the time I was there all the people working there seemed to be engaged with customers, stocking shelves. I was not asked if I needed assistance at any time. The lady at the checkout was jovial and professional. Its nice to see a smile during the day in these times.
Im working on a home project and have been spending my money on items in your stores for the past week. My biggest purchase was for a big amount of $ for an online order on store #1244 for on 8/11/2021 for vinyl flooring. To my surprise hours later my order was canceled by #1244 (greece store). I then called and the representative was not helpful in giving me much information. I then tried calling #1246 (henrietta store) to see if they had the flooring in stock and he was the worst! the guy sounded like he was forced to work when I called at 9:05am, after 9 minutes on hold he hangs up on me, I called the store back and the same guy answered and well he didnt care much that the call was dropped, he then tells me that there is nothing in stock I asked him to put someone else to confirm that and he said no he was the only one there. I took my business elsewhere to purchase my flooring and now I have to wait 3-5 days for #1244 (greece)to return my funds. But the 5 stars is for Mark from #1247 (penfield store) went above and beyond he even tried to call other stores to find the vinyl flooring. Thanks Mark! For your amazing customer service as it should be.
Well run and rarely out of things. Most of the staff is extremely knowledgeable in their departments. Dan brongo in plumbing has saved me money and helped me fix things on my own. Ron, Greg and Beth are very helpful and paint. I cant remember the electrical supervisor but he is also very helpful when it comes to fixing problems.
Awful customer service! I asked a number of employees to help me with unlocking a case to get a drill, each of them said Ill page someone to help you! and then proceeded to just...stare at me, not actually calling anyone, or turned away and went back to the conversation they were having with another employee. I get it, I hated working retail too, but my god, show some initiative
Bob was the sales rep that assisted me. He was kind, knowledgeable, patient with all my questions, and very helpful.I late needed to return for an additional supply purchase and was fortunate to have Bob, once again, assist with the purchase. Updated Review: Since Letter was recieved by Home Depots CEO, immediate action was taken by regional staff from Syracuse: Stephanie and Kelly. The installers, were extremely professional and courteous. I asked where they were from because if their accents: Guatemala and Ecuador. The floor looks great and my loyalty to Home Depot has been restored. Thank you.I purchased carpet and it has yet to be installed. The scheduled install date is April 20. They had a cancellation so came early. The installer did not want to do the job. It was clear from the start, no introduction of who they were, no evaluation of the job,. Instead he boasted about it taking 5 minutes to install, stood on his phone socializing the entire time. Younger installer began work, when I asked a question, that apparently irritated him, They lost it! Said they were not going to install carpet, I pleaded please install carpet and they walked out! Store called shortly thereafter and said theres a25% restocking fee! And hung the phone up on me!!!I Wrote a letter to the store manager--Mr. Valentino--5 says ago --no response. Called today left two polite messages wondering when carpet would be installed? No return call, I think theyre trying to charge a restocking fee. When it was the installer which walked off job. Two weeks prior, I had a stove installed. Luckily I had a friend who could turn the gas valve. The installer said he could not turn the valve. I would have had to hire a plumber or call gas company in addition to reschedule the stove install for 3 weeks later.This Home Depot is a real mess!! A lot of un-knowledgeable youngsters or stressed out employees. A lot of excuses of what cant be done and no knowledge of customer service.Lowes and local hardware stores will have my business from now on-- as soon as Home Depit calls me and installs the carpet I paid for. I shall never darken their doors again.
They do not cater the contractors like they used to they now require you to order online only. They used to have a personal touch for contractors and pull your orders ahead of time. They do not do that anymore and they could honestly care less after speaking to management they said we are sorry we just dont do that
I love going to Home Depot! If I dont know where something is, there is ALWAYS an employee that sees my confusion and is ready to help me. Amazing! The prices are great and they will match it if another store is cheaper. Great variety of plants too. Thank you Home Depot!
I came to this store because the Victor branch told me that it would be the same deal at this branch. It did not turn out like this at all this branch had the worst inexperienced associates and manager that I have ever had to deal with. I am a large contracting company owner and can assure that I will never spend another dime in this particular store again and will be sure to steer clear of it in anyway. They were unwilling to honor deal and refused to help in anyway.
Good selection, most staff is not as knowledgeable as I would hope and has given incorrect information on which products to use. Paint selection is always lacking and there seems to always be shortages in this department. A specific older woman who works in the paint section is extremely knowledgeable and helpful as she paints professionally on the side.
Home Depot is by far the best and integritable business by far. No big issues. Went there to purchase dry wall compound. While there I decided to look for a lanyard which would go around my neck and attach to my glasses allowing me to simply remove them when not needed and hang in front of me until I needed them again. A store employee approached me and asked if he could help me. When I told him what I was looking for hr said he wasnt sure but maybe in the hardware department. And that was his only effort to help. He didnt offer to ask anyone else or to even make an attempt to help me look. Needless to say I wasnt impressed by his lack of effort and never did find the lanyard.
Every time I have been here I have been able to find what Im looking for is minimal troubles. If I cant find it all of the associates I have ever dealt with have been very wonderful. Traditionally I make multiple online pick-up orders and about 75% of the time its ready when I walk in. From time to time they are pretty busy and they may have not gotten to it yet although I have never waited more than 10 minutes which I can say is much better than other locations. All of the nice young ladies at the online order pick up are always very polite and pleasant to work with!
Absolutely amazing customer service...a huge thank you to Bill and George in Penfield! I purchased a backpack leaf blower and tried to assemble it but couldnt quite figure it out. I called the store and the gentleman I talked with in their department was leaving for the day but told me to bring it in and theyd help me figure it out... and they did with patience, kindness, and great attitudes. I was nervous about asking for help and know it is not their job to figure out what I did right and wrong trying to assemble this. Everyone was great. And the leaf blower...Echo PB-580 H/T was worth it. Ive never cleaned my yard this fast and easy and theres no back pain from the handheld leaf blower I used to use.
I think the staff at this Home Depot are fantastic. They always help me find what I need. I am an average home owner who lives about half way between a Lowes and this Home Depot. Every time I go to the Lowes I get frustrated and feel like the staff is causing me more stress. I have the polar opposite experience when I go here. The staff is always helpful and make the stress of home ownership a little less stressful.
The staff behind the Paint counter have excellent customer service skills and the paints come out beautiful. Too bad Im not going to shop the Home Depot anymore because the self checkout out staff can be rude and the manager (no name tag, and did not share her name) ineffective. Since Ive posted my opinion on Facebook I have had many people come up to me and say theyve had similar experiences with the checkout staff. I also found out that the owners of Home Depot make huge donations to Trumps re-election campaign like they did in 2016. If I had known that already I wouldnt have shopped there in the first place.
The indoor plant care there is sub par. I just purchased a monstera adosonii there and it was half yellow and oversaturated like there was mud in the pot. There were other plants there that were so dry the soil was hard it broke in chunks and smelled like mold. Shame on them
I recently bought a shelf for my closet but forgot to get hardware so I went back today to see what the options were. I went relatively close to when the store closed so the staff had every right to be annoyed and curt but they were still very friendly. Nick (black hair and an earring) helped me by looking at the shelf I had bought and directing me to the appropriate screws. He also took the time to look at all of the aspects of the things I had already bought and what the goals of my home project were. He helped me pick the exact screws that would work for me and did so with a smile. I really enjoyed this trip to Home Depot and Nick made me want to go back to the store even more! Keep up the great service guys!
I was asked how much I love self checkout? I dont. I dont work at home Depot. Im a Craftsman. I enjoy the human element and keeping good people enployed. Not replaced by machines. Plus...how at peak times is a self checkout regulated well enough to prevent massive amounts of purposeful or accidental theft? Major downgrade. I want conversation and service. Or, I at least demand a discount for performing an on the job task while shopping there
Whenever Ive gone into this Home Depot to buy tools or other supplies its been fine, but I recently set up some hardwood flooring to be installed in my house through this store and it was nothing but a headache from the start.Twice I was told I need to pick a different wood (out of stock and they cant install clearance items), the person who took the measurements in my house showed up past the 2 hour window he was suppose to show up during, the materials were shipped to the wrong store and took an additional week, and finally I was mistakenly told that I could pick a specific time to have the materials delivered to my house and after half the day went by I called the store and was told that you cant pick a specific delivery time and that it could be anytime between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm that they show up.After being 6 weeks into this project and not even having the materials delivered I ended up cancelling the order and getting a full refund. I cant speak for any of the other departments, but the experience I had with the flooring department was pretty terrible.
Went to buy a lawn mower and Allison went out of her way to get us the one we wanted because they had none in the rack. (we wanted electric and all they had was gas on the racks) she had to go to the back and wheel one to the from . She was friendly and was eager to help. Thank you Allison!!!
Here is the difference between home depot and other like stores: It is the simple fact you get help when you need it every time. I run a small buisness, I do not have the time to chase down people to get help with a project idea or where to find something. At Home Depot The staff take me to the product I need, answer any questions and give the best advise, they have staff with experience and that speaks volumes!!!
Hard to review, its Home Depot. They had almost everything I needed. Kind of sad the cashiers have been eliminated for self serve registers. The pencil pushers working toward corporate greed cutting out the stepping stone jobs.dont forget to go to your local privately owned hardware stores.
Another trip to Home Depot. I of course found everything I needed and more. Helpful staff and great selection of quality products.Im glad I only live one mile away from the Penfield NY store. Im disabled but I still putter around the house. Everyone is always so helpful.Thanks again for being there for me!
Terrible experience with a defective 1-year old Hampton Bay fire pit. The store manager, Dominique, told me to by an in store part that would not fit. They had no suggestions on replacement parts. After 50 minutes on the phone, we were told to email a company in China for parts. Worst customer service experience ever!
The gentleman that help my group and I is Dane (like the Great Dane :D, a title well deserved) from Lumber. In actuality, he helped us TWICE and both instances were great experiences. Not only did know where the items were, he quickly answered our questions and offered advice. Dane is a great conversationalist , has a great sense of humor, and treated us with respect (being a female in a home improvement store, it seems like the older men feel as though the women that visit the stores are merely there to fulfill their husbands shopping list, rather than the fact that we know what we are doing). Thanks for all your help Dane :)
They installed these horrific self checkout things and now there are no cashiers. You, the customer, are the cashier now 😡 expected to ring out your own purchases and everything. Corporate did away with every single human cashier in the store. Goodbye Home Depot. We will not be returning and we will not be supporting your business any further.
Avoid online in-store pickup. It is extremely hit or miss. A few weeks back I placed an order for some lawn mower parts, I had a woman in front of me whos order had gone sideways, I thought this was a one off, the gentleman taking care of her was extremely kind and patient. Then a younger woman (30s) called me over and I was out of there within 5 minutes of being engaged by customer service. Everything was right, easy peasy. I had confidence that this system would work and I wouldnt be trying to find things on their disheveled shelves.So I place an order for some grill parts. Their service desk is always backed up. Their online in store pickup folks dont even check the packaging or the UPC to make sure the thing you ordered is the thing they grabbed from the shelf. For my most recent order they brought me a box that was clearly a returned item or one that a customer ripped open and were taping it up when I arrived. In another item I bought there were parts missing. Of 5 items I ordered 4 of them were the wrong UPC leading to the parts not fitting, now I get to go back and wait in that line again to return all of this stuff. On top of it all the order took forever to fulfill and the elderly woman at the counter wasnt even polite.I wish Lowes stocked more parts in store so I didnt have to deal as much with home depot but I guess I am stuck with amazon. At least amazon puts the right part in the box before they ship it to me.Also their pickup for mulch needs to be re-routed. It runs along the front of the store and people will drive to the end of the lot will try to jump the line and it just elongates the wait.
We had an issue with an online order to pick up in store. The customer service rep was very nice in handling it but sorting out the issue took going to the store and a lot of waiting. A proactive phone call to let us know ahead of time would have been greatly appreciated.
They are really nice people. Will do anything for the customers. They will help of the world with anything they can. The people who work there all did the work that you are doing so they can help you out. They give you info and make sure that you have everything that you need... BRAVO TO ALL THE ORANGE BLOODED WORKERS OUT THERE!!
Amazing products and amazing service. You can even get a free cup of Joe after a long day of construction work. They are the best. I know many of the employees by name. I love to go there. I did feel the company as a whole handled the covid 19 situation poorly. Making elderly customers wait in a 20 minute line in the rain to spare them covid, but give them pneumonia didnt make a lick of sense. There point of sale was handled extremely poorly. 7 people in a line should never happen. With 2 lines open. I give them a pass, because their service is usually stellar.
Although I wasnt familiar with this store, I have to say that the employees I did encounter were very very polite, courteous, and helpful! I only wish they couldve had more selections in the Swiffer products, such as single pkgs of the Wet Jet for regular floors instead of the dbl packs. I would give my views of Home Depot a 100%, but I reserve the extra percent for any further improvements.
Tomothy and Kim were a great help. I was looking for a gift for my dad for Christmas and there was a jigsaw he wanted. Kim and Tomothy helped me find the jigsaw and make the right purchase that helped saved me money in the long run. This store truly cares about their customers. I am grateful for their help.

Chris J helped me today to tie down a 6x8 SPF Flat stockade Fence Panel that I just purchased from your store. Chris was patient and extremely helpful. He helped to tie down the fence section on top of my Tacoma pick up box. It made it home safe. I am so grateful to Chris for his help. I ordered online something the claimed had multiples in stock. So I ordered a couple for $622. Upon arrival to the store they had zero and hadnt had any but offered to get them. I said I wanted to go somewhere else that did and could they please return my money. When they gave me credit they told me they would hold my $622 for several days before it is returned after of course taking it from me instantly. So I couldnt go somewhere else with MY money. But I could wait until they got around to returning it. WTH? Really. If you dont have the product dont take my money or at a minimum return it just as fast as you took it. Poor, poor effort and policy. When its literally faster through Amazon, good bye brick and mortar! Very disappointing and a bad experience all around!
If you must shop at home depot this is the one to go to. I live across the street from the East Ridge Rd location and still drive the extra 10 minutes to shop at this one instead. Its much cleaner, the staff is much more helpful and actually know where things are. Frequently use online order / in store pick up and service has always been great.
I love shopping in all Home Depot stores, but the Penfield location is my favorite. Great selection, competitive prices, kind, helpful and knowledgeable staff, what more can you ask for!?! I always have a positive experience at Home Depot stores. In my opinion, Home Depot is a far better choice than their main competitor, Lowes.
Bought a trailer from the store there was a misprint on the title that they gave me went in to get it rectified instead got screamed at by a manager named Teresa unwilling to help fix the problem wont take the trailer back leaving me out $1,000 this is by far the worst store I have ever been to my entire life and is someone who has worked in customer service for 15 plus years Teresa is the worst manager of any store Ive ever seen and does not belong working in customer service
Awful customer service. Everytime I come in, I have a half hour plus wait at the desk over something. I was also told by a manager well you came in late Im sorry i have a day job and came in at 6pm. So dont come in late. Wrote a email to the store manager about my numerous experiences to hear nothing back. AVIOD!
I gave Penfield Home Depot $2,914.06 over a month ago and they still cant tell me when my top of the line Bosch washer and dryer will be delivered. This is after 3 no-show delivery dates, which cost me 3 full days of work! Delivery time isnt scheduled until the day prior, after 2:30 with no consideration to the customer. On 2 attempts they cancelled the deliveries with short notice and on 1 attempt they arrived without the dryer, after they confirmed the day prior both would be arriving. So far Ive had to spend about $60 and 6 hours on 3 trips to the laundromat. Their failure has cost me over $1500 in vacation time and at least 10 hours at customer service, on the phone scheduling deliveries, and at the laundromat. Management, both Penfield and corporate in Atlanta, blamed Bosch and their delivery company but never took responsibility or offered a solution. Canceled the order yesterday and reordered at another retailer which means for at least 2 more weeks Ill be without a washer and dryer. UNBELIEVABLE!
Maybe its this particular location but not only is it really hard to find stuff like in any other hardware store but its even harder to find somebody who can help you; that is, its hard to locate a person and even harder to locate a person who actually has knowledge of what youre looking for. Usually an exhausting draining, experience to go here.

We came in thinking we knew what we wanted but instead of just processing the sale, he asked us additional questions, qualified what we were actually looking for and gave us exactly what we needed while saving us money. Will be a regular here thanks to his incredible customer service.

2022-07-07Usually a quick in and out. Went to the paint shop recently and had a small wait but got what we needed quickly and it was reasonably priced. Im not set on them or Lowes so I often look at both and just go with the best price or quality. Nothing really sets one apart from each other in my opinion unless you have their credit card or am a contractor.

I asked a staff member for help.Paul was wonderful, he was able to guide me and explain what I needed. 2022-03-12Best home improvement store in the area. Way better than its competitors. Use the home depot app it makes it very easy to find items. Customer service and returns is great and very helpful. Sometimes department workers are too busy, so again get the app it will answer all of your quesitons.

2022-05-02Clean and the staffs nice and helpful, but you have to ask first usually. Sometimes the placing of stock and the cardboard special product displays in the middle of the aisles kinda suck to get around when its busy.

2019-09-12A MUST for any DIYer. Great for all odds and ends whether fixing up something outside or inside. Staff is kind.l but sparse. Download the app and it will tell you the aisle and bag of everything you want. Makes shopping easier. Self checkout is great. Expect lots of carts strewn throughout the parking lot not in the cart return (it’s a rite of passage) and expect lots of terribly parked cars. Join them by parking sideways. The paint people here are especially nice!

2022-01-14I have never been more disappointed with the truck rentals than I am today. The Home Depot van was unavailable so we were forced to rent a Penske truck. We got charged for TWO hours for an additional minute over the initial hour. Charged .99 per mile (which was NOT explained and NOT advertised on your website) AND an additional $30 for liability insurance. I have never EVER been charged $80+ for a rental that I needed less than an hour. Completely unacceptable and absolutely ridiculous. I will never rent from here again.

2022-05-10Used the store pickup option, get to the store and it took 15 minutes to figure out no one actually put the order together. Another 20 minutes while an associate with a cart went and grabbed all the items.
