The Hotel Times Square in New York
Terrible front desk service. Waited 18 minutes for a clerk to show up at 3:30 pm to check-in. Run down and dirty. Maid went through our suitcases. Luckily nothing stolen. Checked out, no receipt. Credit card showed $100 overcharge. Contracted the hotel staff manager who promised a receipt through email. Nothing. Three times called and promised receipt. Still nothing stay away from this rip-off place.
This hotel was a very disappointing experience overall. The room was very run-down, and overall felt like I was staying in a cheap college apartment with a landlord who wouldn’t fix anything that they didn’t NEED to fix.I paid extra for a deluxe king rather than a superior king, specifically for the fridge and microwave. I was assigned a “deluxe 2 queens” room instead, which was of no benefit to me since I was traveling by myself, and confusingly does not include a fridge or microwave despite being of the same tier. There was visible mold on the walls in the bathroom and on the ceiling around the sprinklers. The air filters in the AC unit were full of dust and had clearly not been cleaned in months. I made the mistake of looking inside it with a flashlight, and the blower wheel was caked in either dust or mold. I hope it was dust, but I suspect it wasn’t.The AC would only ever stay on for about two minutes at a time before shutting the compressor off for a few minutes. When set to 60, it kept the room closer to 70. I suspect this is related to the fact that it appears to have never been cleaned or maintained. This constant short cycling is a classic sign of a dying AC.Some of the harder-to-clean areas of the room, e.g. the windowsill under the curtains, had plenty of dust and debris and were very dirty overall. The wallpaper was peeling in numerous places. The room had a desk but no chair, even though the photos online show a chair in every room. The faucet handles in the bathroom were extremely loose and wobbly, and felt like they were about to fall apart. A couple times I tried to turn them from an inward position on the handle and had to readjust my hand because I was pulling the whole handle towards me instead of turning it.The bathroom fan was completely caked in dust, and had clearly not been cleaned in years. There were obvious cigarette burns on the bathroom windowsill, and the bathroom window was held shut with a single screw at the bottom of the top frame. The window did not seal well at all: a lot of sound came through, and when I left the bathroom door shut overnight, it was extremely humid and muggy in the morning, whereas the bedroom was kept sufficiently cool and dry by the dying AC (granted, it was not very hot out). The bathroom door was mostly glass, and had a frosted coating on it that was peeling off. Even though there were curtains in the bedroom, there were none in the bathroom, and the bathroom door faced the beds. The result is that it was impossible to keep the room dark, because light just came through the bathroom door instead. An eye mask is essential if you want to sleep past sunrise. The beds, sheets, and pillows were clean and totally fine for the price. The toilet, shower, water pressure, and water temperature were similarly fine. I didn’t use the TV, but it was a fairly new LG model that looked standard for a midrange hotel.Overall, this felt like a step below a typical budget motel chain in terms of the hard product. The room had clearly had only the bare minimum maintenance performed: clean the bathroom, wipe down the tables, vacuum the rugs, change the sheets. Everything else has been neglected. This would have been bad enough if I’d been given the room I requested, but downgrading me without even telling me at check-in is something I’ve never experienced before. Oddly, the deluxe 2 queens room costs more than the one I booked, despite having fewer amenities. I wonder if the person at the front desk figured they were doing me a favor by giving me a more expensive room, but the effect was to give me no fridge, no microwave, and a smaller bed.If you can get enough of a discount, don’t plan on spending much time in the room, and only care about basic cleanliness (“the sheets and sink are clean”), this place is fine. If you’re not okay with mold on the walls and missing amenities, I’d go elsewhere.
Huge room for NYC and great location near Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza. Front desk staff very accomodating included lending us an umbrella for snow storm and getting us into our room early. Room cleaning daily left room spotless. Only issue was no dining in hotel and the lobby was very plain. Doorman pointed us to a few good breakfast places near the hotel.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY STAYING HERE!!Waited for over an hour to get keys to our room after 3:00pm check in time. Lobby staff was rude, extremely slow and had no sense of hospitality training or customer service. Lobby was dirty and old looking, walls and lobby furniture full of stains and finger prints, main stairwell rails chipped with exposed wood.Rooms, old and need a modern update! No coffee maker as stated on website, fridge was dirty and had items still in it from previous guest. Sheets on bed were such quality is that I felt like I was sleeping on paper. Bathroom, shampoo and lotion dispensers above sink and in shower were all empty and bottle nozzle was flitty.Notified staff, nothing was done to correct room issues, no on duty manager was working the three days of our stay to assist guests. We contacted manager via phone that lobby staff provided and the voicemail box was full and disconnects you each time you call. Lobby staff could not give a name of the manager (didnt know) or what company managed the hotel!By far the worst hotel experience in the USA we have had.
Total Disappointment!!! The room was shabby and needed many cosmetic repairs, (missing fixtures, defects in walls & overall very warn). Looks like room 607 is for Hotels.com guest as were given same room a week apart two different stays. No amenities available during our stay and were charged fees for them. Upon contacting hotel management via email as upon check-out was told only way. You guessed it no response. The AC unit in the room was very noisy and ran all the time even after being shut off.
The bad smell of old hotels in the room at the decades-old facility is disgusting. I came to New York with my family for the first time in a while and it was the worst choice. I made a reservation because it was baited that I could cancel it for free within 24 hour before arriving, but I had to pay 10 dollars for rent for refrigerator separately because there was no mini bar refrigerator in all the hotel rooms, and I didnt have a microwave all over the hotel. I had no choice but to put the instant rice cup in the hot water heater of the hotel lobby with the noodle(ramen) and mix it like porridge. Even though it was Covid, I was dumbfounded by the absurd and outdated operation of the hotel. Whether this is a hotel or a motel, it is a shabby and old accommodation. I dont recommend a family trip.In addition, the glass in the room does not open completely from side to side, and the sliding old-fashioned way of pushing it up is not well ventilated, so the worst structure is that the next customer will be transferred if the COVID-19 patient stays. The bed was okay, but the room was not very cool due to the dull smell and the poor air conditioning of the old air conditioner.Only the location is really the best. All the tourist attractions around (Rockfeller Center Times Square. New York Public Library, etc.) is within 15 minutes!! the worst facilities
It is not the first time we have come to the hotel, but this time we have found it a bit abandoned. There was no shower gel or shampoo and it took days to replenish it. One day they did not make the room.Apart from this, the hotel is very well located, very close to the most usual visits.
The Hotel is a simple, clean and safe place to crash right in the heart of Broadway. Basic needs are met with a comfy bed, clean linens and the usual amenities. It could have used a coffeemaker and water glasses, but there was a fridge and microwave. Will most likely stay there again.Bonus - /walking/ distance to Times Square and the theatre district!
Stayed here 27th - 31st May 2022. Wanted a family room as I was traveling with my two adult sons, this place had two connecting rooms one with a king bed and a queen bed in the other, just perfect for us. The hotel is an older building which I prefer, the newer properties dont have any character for me and this was just perfect, great value for money, central but just off the main busy avenues. Two to three minutes walk out of the main door took you to Times square or fifth avenue. All the main visitor attractions are nearby or within a couple of minutes of a subway station.Yes the bath had a bit of rust in it (as shown in someone elses photo) but nothing serious, we couldnt fault anything else. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Shame the rooftop bar hasnt opened up after COVID, hopefully it will open in the future.I would definitely return here in the future :)
This hotel was a horrible dirty place to stay, unsafe, dirty, lots of noise, mold on the ceilings and in the bathroom, and it was a complete scam, a rip off. The rooms were dirty and the tv did not work , however, it was the stained dirty bathroom with mold that really made me sick. The elevators took 15 minutes to arrive , and we had a view of the back of some horrible building. The radiator rattled loudly and tv did not work. The hotel was booked through booking.com., and the listing was completely misrepresented as these rooms were not worth $50 dollars a night. I left the next morning and the hotel staff, who were not a bit concerned, told me to contact the booking.com and booking.com told me to contact the hotel, the usual run around as they rip people off. On June 10th, booking .com messaged me on their apt to say that I would be refunded , I am still waiting. The standard’ fob a person off ‘ response despite that I was told that I would be refunded, whoever is responding is completely disrespectful. Whoever owns this hotel, should be ashamed of the dirt , mold and RIP off mentality. Where is my refund ? Ms. Nicole ?
Something horrible happened, did you thieve us?As we stayed at the hotel, as we had a booking, we have taken a charge about 675 dollars, like a quarantine by card. But after, we asked to paid in cash the same amount of money. They said that is OK and that they discharge the card visa, and we paid by cash. Now I see in my card one new charge by the hotel, 2 days after the check out
I didn’t take much photos of our room, but we were so so happy with our stay here! The rooms were large with air con and fridge and microwave - cleaned each day for us and the bathroom always left with fresh toiletries and towels. Downstairs there was a gym and coffee dock with free coffee, and the staff we encountered couldn’t have been more helpful! Will be 100% staying here again when I next visit NY!3 minute walk to Times Square3 minute walk to Rockerfeller5 minute walk to St Patrick’s Catherdral10 minute walk to Grand Central Station“Go Raibh Maith Agat”- fromThe Irish!
BUGS!! This hotel was the grand of HORRIBLENESS. I just got back home around 5 days ago from this place, and i’m still itching, i’ve tried everything to get rid of the itchiness, im still trying. Taken so many showers, i feel betrayed and the disrespect i pay for a stay and be treated with bugs in the bed. I had to checkout a day early because i couldn’t bare to stay another night there, i had to sleep with my clothes on for one night, can’t even sleep there comfortably, MATTER fact i didn’t even sleep barely the whole night. I’m still ashamed to see no refund. Either they fix the problem, or i’ll just keep spamming horrible reviews. They handled this poorly. I don’t want another room again. This becoming a medical problem now, i can’t stop freaking itching !! Thanks to this place!
I honestly dont agree with any of the past reviews. This hotel is great if youre coming to NY as a tourist, the room is extremely clean and the bathroom too, theres no dirt stains in the bathtub which is very common in every hotel. They change your towels and make your bed everyday, super quiet and comfy room. Theres plenty of food carts outside within 100ft, no need for breakfast in the hotel. Staff is very nice and helpful. Shoutout to the luggage room guy that has kept his patience with us coming in and out hahahah , would definitely stay here again.
Positive: I did not like the hotel. Negative: They did not have any shampoo, conditioner, bodywash. We called multiple times but no one answered. Also, angle of the AC fan was fixed at angle where it was aimed directly to the bed. Only good thing I would say was the location.
Put us in the wrong room .. Paid for microwave and now they dont do microwaves, take off the website, duh. Paid for a Superior room and got a single storage unit . Paid for a fridge, no fridge , paid for a view , no view . Come on New York , step up the game .. The Hotel of Time Square .. Not a happy visit for my New York trip .
Hotel was okay, nothing special. We asked for 2 beds and only received 1. The room was very plain. Check-in was very unorganized. Thank God me and my dad were fine with sharing a bed in our tiny room because another guest was at the check-in for over 2 hours. Bathroom was small but clean. The bed was very comfortable.
Let’s be clear: as I leave in Boston my husband and myself travel every 3 month to New York. This hôtel is one of the best that we stay at. Very CLEAN ! Room are small but I rather have a small and clean room then a big and dirty room. Would definitely recommend. Oh and I forgot: perfect location :)
Only stayed one night & room was clean. No soap or lotion in any of bathroom dispensers. Its a bit shabby, needs some renovation. Front desk not so great. Dont even bother asking for early check-in, not happening. Furthermore, when trying to call the night before several times, no answer, no answer when pressed 4 for concierge & press 8 for general manager - mailbox is full. There is only one person on desk & I swear no phone! But again, was only 1 night & cheap price. Get what you pay for
No continental breakfast even though it is listed as having on the website and Expedia. No hand soap or coffee maker in the room. I called the front desk and was told no one would bring soap up, I had to come to the front desk and ask. Not even any cups for water in the room. Shower curtain rod not secure and about to fall off the wall. Cracks in the shower surround. Bathroom moldy and the window is literally duct taped together. Front desk staff or not very personable at all, they do not seem to be concerned with how you like the hotel. The only thing that was enjoyable was the location. Lesson learned. Room 522.
The photos that we saw online we’re not the same as when you walk into the building. The room that we booked double queen beds was not available when we got there the woman at the desk said I would be having two adjoining queen size rooms but when we got upstairs they were two rooms non-adjoining which made it uncomfortable for three females traveling together one of us had to be alone. The room was nothing like the one that I had booked via the pictures on the Internet. The water backed up in the bathtub when you took a shower. The one outlet did not work. The microwave was dirty. I was very disappointed walking into the Hotel expecting it to look one way and it looking completely different. I would not stay here again.
Room is a bit shabby but clean and no odor, the usual cheap furniture, bathroom is OK (dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion which was empty), bed is comfy with really nice pillows. Theres a hair dryer, iron and board, and a safe. Heater is a bit noisy and the TV is perpendicular to the bed, awkward angle for viewing. A plus is a microwave and cube fridge. A bit removed from Times Square but we walked from the Port Authority with our rolling luggage no problem.
I would leave ZERO stars if I could. My mom booked our room WEEKS in advance. Check in is supposed to be at 3pm. We got to the hotel early and could not get an early check-in because “ all the rooms were sold out “ so we had to kill about 4 hours of time. When we return to the hotel at 3pm the lobby is PACKED with travelers trying to check in and no rooms are available. The front desk clerk let people check-in and took payment knowing rooms were not available and would not be ready in time. It is COVID and the lobby being packed like that is a safety hazard. Do not book here. Spend a little more and be at an establishment when you are valued as a customer and your patronage is appreciated. DO NOT BOOK HERE! DO NOT BOOK HERE !!!
Positive: The room was clean. Negative: The toilet in my room was cramped in a corner with room enough for a toddler. When I asked to be moved I was told all rooms were set up this way. Not true, other rooms in our party had a better setup. They moved me after I told them this. Poor staff svc.
Positive: The location was ok! Negative: The room was tiny! I paid for the upgrade to have more space and it was still small as hell! The elevator on our floor was not working! There was rust inside the bathroom tub, the outlets on the nightstand didn¿t work and I killed a roach in the room!
Facility surcharge of 20$ per night? That kind of dishonesty (actually a fraud) deserves 0 stars.Hotel itself was okay with very helpful and friendly staff. But all those hidden extra charges (resort fee, facility charge etc) should be made illegal like in the rest of the world.
As of Labor day weekend 2021 I do not recommend booking this hotel. The staff is nonetheless the worse, lies after lies about room availability and no hospitality at all. You can get an all inclusive resort in Cancun for the same price and have an amazing experience. We had reservation 2 weeks prior coming and when we went to check in they said rooms were getting ready. 45 min later, there was over 25 people on the lobby hearing the same lies. We started pressuring them about our rooms, they said we didn’t have our room anymore because it wasn’t available and we would have to wait more... Then other people that had the same issue got in front of us with a room, they went to check before booking and they found cockroach on the bathrooms, DONT GO THERE! There’s about 5-6 hotels within that location that are wayyy better.
Booked this hotel for a weekend in NYC for my daughter’s 16th birthday through booking.com after my husband tried to reserve the room directly with the hotel but we were told by the hotel to book through booking.com. Once we arrived after a 5 hour drive we were told that our reservation was cancelled and they didn’t have any more rooms. The woman behind the counter was incredibly rude and told us it was booking.com’s fault. The gentlemen that tried to check in after us had the exact same problem. When my husband called booking.com they informed us that the hotel would not honor our reservation and the hotel was responsible for the cancellation. Either way, I would never book this hotel again nor would I book with booking.com. Go elsewhere.
Not only was this an awful experience, but it left me stranded without a hotel for 6 hours. Upon landing in New York with 3 other girls, we arrived at the hotel and there were about 20 people in the lobby. They told all of these people AFTER arriving in New York that they had no rooms for us. This would have been useful information hours ago when they knew of the situation. Instead, they allowed families and groups of people to be stranded in New York with no hotel. We were forced to book an extremely expensive hotel across the street with only one bed for four people because every other hotel was booked out at this point.Today I got a charge for 450$ for a room we didnt stay in, and they had told us they ran out of? There is no one to get in contact with, so unfortunately we are having to contact someone legally about the issues.
This is the worst experience I ever had staying in NYC. No WiFi, and called to address it. They didn’t care. Ice machine didn’t work, refrigerator didn’t work, room smelled like cigarettes. This was something out of a horror movie. I thought I was on a prank show. Then I tried to get in touch with manager, and they called back week later and offered us $40 credit, from a $230 stay. I will never recommend. DONT EVER STAY HERE
The location was fantastic. We were able to walk to all of our destinations in Times Square. The rooms were clean and the bed was really comfortable. Also, we were able to get a early check in and a late check out with no problem. The continental breakfast was fresh and delicious with plenty of choices. The breakfast room attendant, Kris H., kept the breakfast room clean and well stocked with food. He was also very welcoming every day. Kris H. is a wonderful complement to the hotel. Can’t wait until our next stay!
Horrible check in experience. Everyone was held up for reasons undisclosed. Waited over 3 Hours AND STILL DID NOT GET a room and wasnt even able to get reimbursed for the missed time Ive paid for. Others Waited even longer than me too. Definitely not coming back here and would not recommend for anyone to.
I started staying here 3months ago from Wards Island, I was able enjoy the opportunity to stay here in this pandemic times..1st the location is great for everything on the BUS M7 line that takes me straight to work.. also the D line is near by too..The hotel is open to the HELP USA /HELP MEYER clients, so their THE HOTEL STAFF AND the shelter staff..The hotel itself is very nice and decent for our purpose. The hotel staff are super wonder and they keep our rooms clean..Theirs a few things that could be fix, like our phones and Security safeboxOther than that Im blessed and fortunate to be thereAs far as the SHELTER STAFF AND Safety Monitors and case managers.. Thats another whole post thats not gonna be good...
The hotel was great! The bed was comfortable. Room size was just fine. It was clean. No odor. It was my husband and me with 2 large suitcases. The room had a closet. The size of the bathroom was just fine. It was not too small. We had a room with 1 king size bed. The staff was nice. The hotel was clean. Before I booked, I saw some comments of the hotel smelling like cigarette smoke. I never smelled it. Close to everything. I will definitely stay here again and will recommend this hotel to anyone who asks where to stay. I did not have any negative experiences while there. They even let me do an early check in at no extra cost.
Great location, friendly staff. Concierge not available much, some areas are dirty, had to change rooms because the first was dirty and not on a higher, quit floor as requested. The second room was cleaner but the AC unit didnt keep the room cool enough. I asked the front desk for a fan and was told they dont provide them. There is a dollar store on the same block to buy one which I wont take home so Ill donate it for the next travelers. Not an expensive investment for guests.
All the staff was very nice. Ther hotel itself was very nice. Breakfast itself was good especially since it was free. Parking was very convenient and economical. Bed was soft as well. My only complaint was the bathroom house keeping didnt do a good job. It was hair all the shower and pee at the base of the toilet(SUPER GROSS) and this is only a few photos
We had a great stay at The Hotel at Times Square! It was so convenient to everything and close to subway terminals. All of the staff that we came across were very kind and helpful. The cleaning ladies were so awesome!! Clean towels everyday and everything was nice and clean. Breakfast was very good and the man who was in charge of it that had a black hat was wonderful. He kept the food full all the time. Free hot coffee as we walked in from outside too. Our room was very clean and very quiet. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and will definitely come back!
I think the location is convenient. The hotel overall is clean and has friendly staff. The room is weirdly structured, but it is still cozy. The reason why I am rating it 3/5 is because the heating system is extremely loud. I couldnt sleep well because of the loud noise. And at 5 am an alarm in the next room went on and was on like for 15 min. I call customer service and they took care of it, but by then I just was awake.
We had a great stay at The Hotel at Times Square! It was so convenient to everything and close to subway terminals. All of the staff that we came across were very kind and helpful. The cleaning ladies were so awesome!! We only ate breakfast twice there but it served its purpose! Free hot coffee as we walked in from outside too. The lobby area is very cute. I just loved the old feel of the building! Our room was very clean and very quiet. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and will definitely come back!
This hotel was Rock Solid. The location is fantastic to just about anything you want to be around. Staff was pleasant, the desk was efficient (the cleaning staff I ran into were actually more talkative/ friendly than desk staff) and the price was one of the best in the area. Without a doubt, the rooms are kind of small, bathroom is a tight fit, but the bed was comfortable enough for a good night sleep and the morning breakfast is basic, but very convenient when youre in a rush to get your day going. Ill be back
Such a nice place. Its located within walking distance of Times Square. We traveled with a group and the staff was very accommodating. Had a technical issue with the heating unit in our room, so I called the front desk. Within minutes someone came and replaced the entire unit. I was like, wow! How impressive was that! The maintenance man, was so polite and I enjoyed his accent. They hotel itself is older (like most buildings in New York) but very well kept and clean. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job cleaning the room daily. Theres only one elevator for each side of the hotel, but the stairwell was easily accessible and clean as well.I would highly recommend this place and stay here again as well.
This review is actually coming a little too late. My wife and I stayed here last April after trying to find something budget friendly near Times Square. The check in process and paying for the room was a little strange - since we had to send documentation of the person paying for our room, was indeed the card holder. The hotel itself is quaint, clean but small. The room was older and outdated but frankly it was a place to sleep. It was a little cramped but over all for the price and proximity to Times Square, it was decent. The continental breakfast, in the morning, was lacking a bit but again, for what we wanted the price was right. My wife and I are very low maintenance people so this hotel was fairly decent. I would stay there again.
I am corporate traveler and visit Manhattan, NY every other week for last 6 months. So I booked room at this hotel for 3 nights, but since my flights got delayed due to some technical issues, I was able to reach there only next day morning. The front desk persons checked me in for 2 nights, but when I checked the receipt I could see that the rates are way higher than when booked. Good that I noticed that then itself and brought it to their notice and they corrected it and agreed to re-reimburse the difference. The rooms are not that great and I didnt like the breakfast too. I checked out from the hotel and later when I checked my credit card I could see they charged additional money for my stay there. I tried to reach them to verify that, but either their manager is away or they are too busy to clarify my question on the charges they debited for my 2 nights stay there. Finally I was able to talk to the front desk person and it seems to me they are kind of rude and not bothered to clarify my questions on the receipt. Their reply to contact the credit card for the charges they debited from my credit card seems very absurd. I informed this to my colleges and would avoid this hotel in future.
We stayed here for four nights in March and had a wonderful time. The location was perfect, rooms were clean, the staff was so sweet and helpful, and the coffee and cappuccino in the lobby were wonderful. Breakfast had a lot of options, and they even let us check in early. Would definitely recommend to others and would most definitely stay here again!
It was good. There was just a safe problem in our room, and we asked multiple times for them to fix it, but they didnt. They did fix it in the end, but we were very annoyed that we had had to ask several times. It was all nice and clean. The breakfast was ok. Not a 5 star breakfast, but good enough. It had bagels with cream cheese, cereal, coffee, tea, and juice. The lobby had nice couches, too. You could also get free cold or hot water, coffee, or tea at anytime. I had a pretty good experience. I rate this hotel 4 stars.
I’m still here having issues with the hotel staff due the air vent in the bathroom pushing out different types of air toxins or pollutants. Which effects my health. I’ve asked them for Assitance and they never fix the issue they look at it and leave. I have another issue with a tenant that knows how to hack the door lock using a modified rfid master card made from a old key card of the hotel. The person leaves my door wide open even when I lock it to sleep. It’s either he has custom hotel lock software or he was able to create a master lock by just using a old key to hack it and bypass the rfid lock system in the door. It’s possible that the computer used in the hotel could also have a exploit or software vulnerability.. I’ve reported both issues for months but issue hasn’t yet been resolved. Hopefully I can contact the owner but I’d probably put more cameras in the hallway at the doors of the hotel that are not in view of the existing camera to avoid those types of situations.
The elevators in this hotel arent nearly big enough. I realize that theres not much that can be done about that, but if youre a family with kids and a stroller, its a bit of a pain to use them. Not to mention the cleaning staff doesnt seem to know how to use an elevator. Several times on the 14th floor (which is the top floor, by the way), the elevator doors would open and a staff member would already be in the elevator to ride it back down. Still, the location is great, and the breakfast was nice.
We just stayed here for 3 nights on our annual trip to NYC and this will now be our “go to” hotel!! The location can’t be beat for the price that we paid!! The front desk staff were all very friendly, the cleaning staff were all very friendly and also did a great job. The beds are super comfy! The room size was very acceptable for an NYC hotel- we’ve stayed in smaller so this one was just fine. For this price point they deserve 5 stars hands down! If you want larger rooms and more amenities you are not going to find it in NYC at this price. A+++
The only reason I put two stars is because whenever I called the hotel back to get a copy of my receipt emailed to me, they were very helpful. The bed was also comfortable unlike most 3 star hotels. However, everything else at the stay wouldve received a 1 star rating. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls in multiple places. Our door wouldnt lock to stay shut unless we slammed it. If you didnt slam the door entering or exiting the door wouldnt secure itself and could be pushed open. Dont use the shampoo there as it will completely fry your hair. Theres not heat in the bathroom so its also absolutely freezing when you go in there. I would not stay at this place again especially for the money we paid.
The Hotel was great. Very clean, comfortable and the location is the best. The room was cleaned everyday, housekeeping are super friendly. The hotel have check in available until very later which very good. We stay in 2 bedrooms suite with king and queen size bed, both of them were very conformable. The Breakfast area is very busy at all time and the options are not great. I would recommend to grab a juice and go to try some traditional american breakfast at Juniors near Times Square. Overall the stay on good.Well when arriving at the Hotel (1am) we found out that the 2 bedroom suite was not available to us for the first night and we were given a double bedroom with 2 queen beds. The room was perfectly fine, however I didnt like the fact that the hotel did not contact me in advance to give me this information. On the fowling day the hotel moved all our stuff to our 2 bedroom suite as we were out (the price was adjuster at the end of the stay). I would stay here again if I didnt have any better option.
Good location. Carpets in room are very old and marked but bedding and bathroom are very clean. Free wifi. Breakfast is complimentary and reasonable, with cold hard boiled eggs, toast, juice, coffee and tea, yogurt, apple and banana. We were given a room that faces another building close and hardly any light comes in, making it a very gloomy room. Staff was happy to show us other rooms and we moved room.
My room was 521. The air conditioning in the room was very quick and cool. The building is laid out in a confusing way. One staircase goes to one half of the building and the other staircase goes to another section. They do not connect. The elevators are very small and there are only 2 that you can use. Breakfast is mediocre at best.Other than that, it is in a good location and the service is good. 8/10
Perfectly fine budget/tourist hotel experience, neither more nor less. Small but clean and comfortable quarters at a very reasonable rate by NYC standards including well-discounted parking a block away with validated ticket. Really nice and comfy king-sized bed, adequate bathroom. A great location if you are Broadway-bound. Great value. It is what it is; set your expectations in the middle range and enjoy the savings. Perfect for an affordable 1 or 2 night stay max.
Location for meetings very convenient. Bed and towels excellent. Now the bad. Carpet dirty and worn. Breakfast is pretty much all processed foods. No decaf coffee. Had to replace room keys most every day. They did replace locks day I was leaving. Room had no outside window. Musty smell. Blue light on microwave very bright.
I am pleased and surprised with this hotel. It almost seems the hallways are skinnier to make more rooms for the customers room space. Compared to other hotels Ive been in around Times Square (that werent big name like Hilton) this is downright comfy. Was a little put off when I saw no restaurants or bars were in this place, however they serve breakfast and are like a block and a half from the heart of Times Square with a 24 hour McDonalds right around the corner in case you dont want to go that far. I can definitely see myself staying here again~
Everything was as expected-- great location, clean, good breakfast bar, comfortable beds, helpful & friendly staff. Rooms are small, but that was expected. Close to one of the double decker tour bus stops. Close to local restaurants with excellent food choices--delis, Italian, Starbucks, Japanese steakhouse, fish & chips, etc.. plus a couple of grocery options. Smoking place across the street in the park. Will make this our place to stay on future trips!
The price was right and the location amazing! It was easy to drive to, the parking facility is diagonal across the street, and they offer discount parking if you ask the front desk. The lobby and dining facility are modern, clean, and well light. The front desk staff were polite, quick, and answered all questions. It is a good central location between Broadway Time Square, Rockefeller Center, NY Library, Grand Central, and many other sites. The rooms were clean, but had not seen deep cleaning in a while. The hot water was hot and there was really good water pressure. Breakfast was free.
Comfortable beds and super friendly staff. The only issue was an emergency light over the door could not be turned off. Had to climb up and unscrew the bulb in order to be able to sleep. Other than that, its a perfect location if you want to experience NYC in all its glory.
Hotel bar was closed for renovations. No communications with guests in this regard. Other wise the hotel met with our expectations. Rooms were comfortable. A basic cold/continental breakfast and a free all day coffee station is included in the room rate. Just a short walk to Times Square and surrounded by loads of Food and Beverage options. Good value for money right in the heart of Manhattan.
We stayed commencing 3 August 2015. The hotel web site states that the rooms have just been refurbished. Ours must have been missed. Wall lights not working, hanging off the wall, door handle loose to room, leaking old style taps, room floor was not cleaned and toilet water constantly refilled. The bathroom had a not about saving water, but with our leaking tap and toilet refill always running, there must have been a lot of wasted water. Only coffee making in room. To have a cup of tea, you needed to go to the reception area and make it your self, However, during our stay this broke down, so no tea.On a positive note. The bed was comfortable, breakfast was not as bad as some have mentioned and we had clean towels most days.Would I stay again...No
It’s exactly what I thought it would be. More Holiday Inn than Crown Plaza. Pleasant enough but nothing special. It’s a classic 3 star hotel. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable but not particularly organized. The hotel is run more like a family business with no real corporate efficiencies that I could tell. My one complaint was the smell in the bathrooms. Noticed it in more than one room. It reminds me of the smell in the bathroom at the park. You know the one I mean.
Had a training at this location. Very nice conference room. There in the process of renovation. Once its done, I know it will be high tech. Would love to see the finish product some day. I did like how you can press your elevator floor outside of the elevator. Once you get on theres no button to press it takes everyone to their respected floor. Never seen that before. Interesting.
Location was perfect for our first weekend visit to NYC. What really made it great was the convenient parking right across the street and the discounted rate. We had purchased some cheese from Little Italy and forgot when we went back to the hotel that we didnt have a mini fridge. Luckily, there was a couple ice machines near the lobby. We will probably choose this hotel again for our next visit.
Clean but a bit dated. There are no standard amenities in the room other than a coffee pot. Beds were comfortable. We had to have all 4 of our room key cards reassigned 3 consecutive days because the cards wouldnt unlock the door. Staff is friendly. The provided breakfast is all cold items except for toast and bagels. Get in there early (before 0900) to avoid the crowds. They dont have Splenda, Equal or half and half for the coffee.
Situated a stones throw from 5th Avenue and ahirt stroll to Times square & theatre district this hotel is perfectly positioned.Staff inc maintenance & cleaners were nice. Our room was a little tired and quite dark ( even with all the lights in ) but no direct sunlight as our view was the next buildings wall 😆 but it was clean and had a safe and bathroom with bath/shower ,all kept clean.Breakfast was basic but enough to get you going for the day.Theres also a booking bureau in the lobby for shows, tours etc etcOverall good value for the location and facilities.
I liked the place a lot. Although, we didnt have a view (but, we didnt need one). The room was small but it was cozy. The bed was big and comfortable. I didnt care too much for their breakfast and refrigerator cold boiled eggs (I wasted them) but there are restaurants all over town. Speaking of town. The hotel is in the middle of everything, everywhere in Times Square. I got lost though trying to find my way back after walking around blocks and blocks for hours. The GPS on my phone wasnt working its optimal because of the buildings. A map with a compus grid to major streets and numbers would have been nice. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Everything was very clean and organized. I appreciate the long hot showers and A BATH TUB. Its a half a block from a convenience store that has Everything at a reasonable price, incase you forgot or need something. And, the the 24hr Walgreens is 2 blocks away if you need Anything else. Id like to stay here again.
Just loved this budget hotel. Our room was spotless we had fresh towels every morning and came back to cosy clean room every afternoon. Coffee maker plus shampoo, shower gel, hand wash and hand cream lovely touch..The breakfast was continental style but wow there was a great selection it was brilliant..aThe staff are very helpful and polite and create a nice family feel..
Quaint boutique hotel. Absolutely PERFECT location. Lots of remodeling going on, so there was paint and tape all over, but staff was incredible. Breakfast could have been a little bit better. Basically only muffins and toast, and crowded, but it was free.Rooms were gorgeous. Plenty of room. Very clean. GREAT family hotel. Will definitely be back during Spring Break.
I would give this 4.5 stars. The service was great, cheerful, helpful. The business center had good working computers and a printer and was easily accessible, though there are times in the evening when it gets very busy and might be a wait. The rooms are comfortable. Its an older building so theres a coziness about it, along with some updates that make it pleasant. The linens were well appointed. Overall clean, though as I said, its an older building but I didnt mind at all. The elevator is slow, but works fine and gets you where you need to go.
My wife and I had a great stay at the Hotel @ Times Square. The price was very reasonable, which is what enabled our trip to NYC. They even gave us reduced rates on a nearby parking garage which was huge for us. The hotel staff were very friendly and quick to provide assistance when needed. The only issue we experienced was that it took a long time for the AC unit to cool down the room, but overall it was a great place to stay and we would stay there again.
The hotel was clean and spacious. The rooms werent the greatest, the walls were somewhat grimey and some of the plugs didnt work. The furniture was alright although dinged up and old. The whole room just felt dark. The staff were not very courteous and less than helpful. On the plus side, the hotel was in a pretty great location.
I wish we found this one a little sooner....we were in a family room- king bed in one part and queen in the other. Easily big enough for four people to spend their holiday here without feeling cramped. Breakfast is a good addition, with enough variety to get you energized for the morning ahead. Its an old building, and our room had no view at all (well, we could see the brick wall of the neighbouring building), but the location is excellent, with Times Square just a five minute walk away. Subway station is 100 metres away. Staff were friendly, and the premises are clean. The fireplace in the lobby was a very welcome addition. Missed out on five stars only because we had no fridge in our room.
The front staff are friendly and informative. The rooms arent to big which should be expected. But they are very up date and put together in a modern way. The staff around was great and the bedding was comfortable. A nice walk to get to most of downtown but it is a bit on the outskirts of the South Loop.
Very affordable for the location. Near of everything that matters in NYC. Its a perfect spot for travelers that wont stay more than 3 or 4 days in the city. They have a coffee/tea/cappuccino machine in the lobby that was always our first stop before going out in the cold winter, that was great. The bed is very comfortable too. The breakfast wasnt that good, and I felt it lacked Christmas decorations, but the hotel was very very good overall.
Went to New York in January, this hotel had excellent service and room cleaning every day, as well as all inclusive limitless breakfast and wifi, we were warned about the noise and brought ear plugs, but these were not needed. Building has lifts, good lavatory facilities and good filling food, for a hotel round the corner from Times Square, this was a good cost and a great visit
Location is fantastic, easy walk to many local attractions. The hotel shows its age despite some face lifts hear and there but I cant really fault it too much given how old it is. Small things like mold and poor shower drainage bring it down a bit, however for us the hotel was just a bed for the night so I cant complain much.
Location was fantastic! Within walking or bus or subway distance to everything. I got this hotel though largely for the cheaper price and breakfast included . After two days we had to buy breakfast elsewhere because it just wasnt good. Hard boiled eggs, pastries, raisin bran, corn flakes, fruit (one of the best parts) were all the breakfast bar had to offer, in a dingy basement. Room was decent, view from the window was awful, but the room got the job done.
My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for a Tuesday night stay in NYC. We got so much more than we expected! The staff was friendly and the price was perfect (only $123 for the night!!!!). The room was clean and functional with a comfortable bed, although it did have an odd layout. It was great for naps and sleeping at night. Free wifi and continental breakfast. The location was ideal; close to both Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Would definitely stay again!
My family’s experience at this hotel was less than stellar. When we walked in our room the first night it smelled heavily like cigarettes which was a problem for my daughter who was asthmatic. Too add to that the room was extremely dusty with wallpaper that was peeling for the walls, and the bathroom tub had rust throughout it. The only upside was the free “breakfast”.
My first time in new York for a short vacation and I am so glad I found this hotel. This hotel has so many great aspects of far more expensive hotels such as private bathroom, good sized bedroom. some hotel rooms Ive seen online are stupidly small but my room had a desk nightstand room on both sides of bed I could walk around and a closet. Im 64 so bathroom was a little cramped but who cares it is a private bath. I had the single queen room (I think). The location was awesome, I was able to walk to central park easily, times square right up the street, I mean it is a perfect location.Customer service was great, on my last day I realized I hadnt visited a couple places that I really wanted to see but i knew i wouldnt get back before checkout like many hotels they charge for staying after check out and i really wanted to go back to my room before i headed off to catch my flight so I asked if i could extend checkout for about 2 hours because i hadnt visited what i wanted the person behind the desk said no problem take my time and didnt charge me a thing for it. Those little things make me feel like a highly valued customer.I really want to go back and visit new York for a few more days so i can see the other half of the city and i would love nothing more to stay at this hotel again unfortunately the price has risen so much i simply cannot afford it. Maybe in time ill be able to get there but i may have to stay elsewhere. Thanks for a great stay.
DO NOT STAY HERE. There are SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS everywhere else for cheaper and just overall better experience. This hotel almost ruined our trip to New York. I booked a travel package for 4 guests to new york flight and hotel package. We came in at 8-9am after a red eye and asked for early check in and of course they said theyll charge $50 for it which we were fine with, but from there I could tell this hotel had zerro sense of hospitality and kindness because all they did was look down never smile or greet you and just tell you what your charges will be. We had two more friends with us who were booking a room nearby but i told them to rest at our room until they check in so we all go inside. The front desk keeps harassing us by sending this really rude manager lady and her other staff member to our room repeatedly telling us to get rid of our guests because we cant have 6 people and i told her they literally booked their hotel down the street at the Royalton (btw which is amazing) and asked is it not allowed to have guests be in our room??! And we even tried showing her our booking because she was harassing us she felt stupid and said well go downstairs and tell the front desk then and were like arent you the manager? And she said yes she is and were like why dont you tell them then if they keep calling you about our extra guest. She said to go down myself and tell them or they wont stop it. I said ok.. we closed the door. Minutes later she came back again saying our guests need to leave or i need to go talk to front desk. At this point now me and all my guests were disturbed and disgusted by this hotel and just wanted to leave. My two guests immediately just left to go to their hotel. A few hrs later I check and see a strange charge on my credit card. Extra $70 charge..on top of my $90 early check in and resort fee (btw its not a resort by any means this place is more like a motel) I walk to front desk and ask them about this charge they said its because I have 6 guests and I almost lost it at this point... im like I AM BOOKED FOR THIS HOTEL FOR 4 guest (in my orbitz itinerary it literally says 4 adults for flight and hotel and THREE GUESTS LEFT TO A DIFFERENT HOTEL) i demanded they refund me and they brought out that same exact mean faced manager who then started arguing with us and just being so disgusting and saying talk to orbitz shes not refunding us cz it says for 1 adult....i literally showed her my email confirmation for 4 adults and she said its not her problem. We were baffled because shes the one who just assumed, and charged my card secretly and refused to refund me. I felt so harassed and scammed...we packed alllll our luggage and went on hotel tonight and booked at another hotel and forfeited our extra night stay at this awful hotel....the hotel we booked was cheaper and nicer and immediately upon arrival the staff and hospitality was a stark difference. All of us were so disturbed by the harassing rude staff at The Hotel @Times Square. They kept coming to our room checking who is inside, secretly charging your credit card for fees you dont know, arguing with you telling you to leave if you want. Had a man staff just open our door and try to come in while were undressing. Just overall most disgusting experience I have ever had.—-edit-response to your response down thereRead exactly what I wrote. You should just be apologetic and reach out and try to work with your guests its called HOSPITALITY for a reason. Your response is garbage I BOOKED FOR 4 guests flight hotel package room had two beds for 4 guests u charged me for having more than one guest plus having two friends waiting in my room to check in THEIR OWN HOTEL WE SHOWED U ALL THE CONFIRMATIONS AND U SCOFFED AND TOLD US TO LEAVE IF WE WANT BECAUSE U REFUSED TO TAKE THE CHARGES OFF. We could even tell one of your male staff was embarrassed by watching how disgusting you behaved arguing w us in front of your whole lobby. I normally dont leave reviews like this but my heart feels so bothered by this experience. I still cant believe it
Great location, good size room for NYC and breakfast included! We stayed midweek and the price was $120 which makes the stay even better since its just for naps and sleeping at night. The only real noise was from loud people in the hallway. Just down the street from Times Square, 3 blocks from Bryant Park & 3 blocks from Rockefeller Center & Radio City Music Hall. Lots of food choices on same block. Would I recommend? Yes!
The room was tiny but clean. We got the room quick. The hotel has a free breakfast, a basic one, with coffee and some pastries.the breakfast is served with paper plates and plastic cups and they dont recycle anything - at the end of the day all the cups and plates awaits in trash bags at the front of the hotel for the garbage truck. Not environment friendly at all.
This is a decent hotel. The rooms are clean and they had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotions in dispensers. The beds were comfy enough and we had two normal and two feather pillows per bed. There were recycling bins in the rooms and they had a gender neutral bathroom in the basement by the breakfast area. The breakfast was okay, but they didnt have much for hot stuff. The toasters work quickly. The elevators are slow. We were on the 14th (top) floor and only one elevator went that high. We constantly had issues with waiting for the elevator, only to have it open to find an employee with a cart taking in the entire elevator and having to go down to the basement, so we had to wait for the elevator to go all the way down and back up. If you can take the stairs, it solves.that problem. The hotel was very close to a chik fil a and a McDonalds. And within walking distance of all the best spots downtown.
I liked the location of The Hotel @ Times Square. A short walk to all the main attractions of Times Square was amazing. The front desk staff wasnt friendly. They looked like they didnt want to be there. Also they offered Continental Breakfast. There was nothing Continental about it. Stale bagels, waffles and mini muffins. They had boiled eggs everyday. What about scrambled eggs at least? No kind of meat at all. I guess I was taking too long at one of the breakfast tables and one of the kitchen staff bumped me pretty hard. Didnt even say sorry. He too looked like he was fed up to even be there. All in all, I was ready to go home.
HORRIBLE experience! Maybe things have changed but I have not gone back to NYC let alone this hotel.Upon entering seemed ok, front staff was nice.Heading to the room we were sent to the back of the hotel to find the elevator wasn’t working. Had to use service elevator or the stairs. The room smelled of bleach so bad, mold was still visible in the sink, shower and toilet.Red smudges on drywall heading to our second room.
Phones werent working properly when we arrived so we couldnt contact the front desk. Also we had requested a higher level floor and ended up on the 3rd floor. We also werent alerted the rooftop bar was closed for renovations. The room itself was clean and well kept. Just the attention to detail made for a lackluster stay.
Location is key here. Really great spot but on a quiet side street.Beds were comfortable but the room smelled stale since you cant open windows and angle of windows let in no light. Bathroom is pretty dated but cleanish. Some cobwebs. Nice that they include shampoo, soap, bodywash and plenty of it. Our room didnt have a remote although there was a tv. Our room was located in an odd part of the hotel and there was one elevator for 9 floors. When checking out our group had to wait almost 15 minutes because it was always packed going down.
Stayed for 2 nights. Arrived at 3 for check-in, but neither of our rooms where ready. We had placed a request during reservation to have the two rooms adjacent or near each other. We were stuck waiting in the lobby for an hour. Breakfast was kind of a bummer. Dont expect much. Consisted of cereal, doughnuts, 2 bagel varieties, sliced bread, yogurt. I guess its on for a budget trip, its not bad. Location wise its OK. Starbucks is literally next door, and some good restaurants a few doors down. Walking distance to Rockefeller. Breakfast is a bummer. Dont expect
Good location. Didnt like the room though: Super small and unfortunately was internal facing a wall, low floor looking over some pipes and dirty roof with Windows screwed to the frame. I felt trapped in a shoe box. Convenient free WiFi and breakfast (simple and without frills), but overall I could have chosen a nicer modern hotel for the same cost even including the fact that it was a special discounted rate. It really annoyed me that extra taxes were added to the bill when at the booking it said that I was paying the total price. They added a Jarvis center tax fee and more city taxes which represented more than 15% of the original price in the website. The hotel really needs serious updating. I didnt go to the roof where there is a bar promoting happy hour discounted drinks, not my thing...but it was pouring with rain and even curiosity wasnt enough to make me go to see what it looked like. In conclusion, if you are in town planning to spend just a couple of hours in the hotel to sleep and shower, you may consider it. But if you want more updated trendy fresh looking rooms, shop around...bed was comfortable and room was clean, modestly (please, change the carpet!!!). I guess that to save the environment the soap, shampoo and lotion were in containers/dispensers nailed to the wall. Unsure of the quality since I brought my own. Check in and out was easy and simple. I cant say they do not offer freebies including the safe in the closet but I will not stay there again. It gave me the creeps...never felt claustrophobic in a hotel like I did in this one. Staff is nice, its the building that needs a good sprucing up...
Hotel clean and well located. Typical size for NYC. A bit smaller than your normal room. Staff in housekeeping were wonderful . That said we were here during a blizzard and were met prior to the weather by a desk clerk who said he wasnt coming to work during the weather!? Made me feel very welcome....NOT! Then we we checked out 4 days later my rate had been increased from $159 to $210 for the last two nights. This wasnt what I was quoted. I could have stayed at a nicer hotel for those rates!!! Very disappointed.
Nice and clean. Very good value, considering its on 2 blocks from times square, a few minutes from the Javit center and port authority as well. There was not a huge selection at breakfast but it was good. I chose a bagelwith cream cheese and coffee and was satisfied. Its New York, how can you not love a bagel for breakfast! Room was small but perfect for just me. Bed was super comfy with lots of pillows. The best part was that when I checked out at noon they offered to check my bags for me (for free!) all day so I wouldnt have to carry them around while I shopped and did other various things
My son and I stayed here for our annual NYC trip to celebrate his birthday. There was a water main break during our stay which resulted in not being able to flush the toilet or take a shower. The water main break was obviously not the hotels fault. However, I expected a discount on the almost $200 per night room, considering I only paid for a bed. The customer service was terrible. Not once was I offered any type of compensation for not being able to shower or flush the toilet the whole stay. Traveling in NYC in August heat, and then not being able to take a shower is disgusting. When I got home, I emailed the management and received no response.
Nice entrance, center to all you might want, amazingly still have smoking rooms available, prices are ok for NYC .However, they mess up your bookings and dont notify you. Last minute change forced us into a single bed, closet sized room. Not the most inviting decor or clean feeling. No breakfast nor microwave in the room.Make sure to call them to confirm your booking, dont wait till you get there.
Location location location !!! I’m in lovveee with The LOCATION♥️it’s perfect beside Starbucks , 2 bros , chick fill A, Nino , Time square , braynt park ,NYC library rockfeller, metro station , it’s endless!! also near all of tourists sightseeing places!!😍-good services, staff are nice and very friendly- the room with good air condition and iron for cloth also have a large TV 👍🏼but no small fridge or microwave .Overall I enjoyed my stay in the hotel time square ! ♥️
The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location, its right in the heart of Times square.Do not be fooled by the breakfast included, its terrible. Bad coffee, a few donuts, bagels and toast, cereal and a bowl of hard boil eggs. Rooms are ridiculous in size but that I expected. I think we were the only white people in the hotel, many Indians, many Chinese. Next time I wont go with the cheaper option, spend the extra $100/night and treat yourself.
I dont like this hotel all the good reviews here is a BIG, BIG LIE, I dont RECOMMEND you must stay away in this hotel.1. The aircon is very weak, even I set for 86 still not blowing cold air feels like no air condition, Im sweating all night. They didnt even clean the vent. (Dusty)2. They didnt even have FIRST AID KIT, my poor little girl she needs band aid but this hotel they dont have any medical stuff. whats wrong with this company?3. Front desk is not friendly, I been standing in front of the desk Im the only one there maybe around 3 minutes I was standing in front of him not even say or ask me can I help you? (Or just give me a minute ) I guess his playing solitaire.4. The carpet smell pee and dirty and dusty. They should clean with steam vacuum. Rusty bathtub mold every corner of the room.In my experience with this company iM NOT GOING BACK AGAIN AND I DONT RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE.
The location of the hotel is really good. It is near time square, central park, Rockefeller center, and most of the iconic attractions of manhattan. Also, it takes only 2 trains from the JFK airport to arrive to the hotel in less than 45 minutes. With the stay in the hotel you have breakfast included. It provides buffet breakfast with basic food like milk, fruit, waffles, bread among others, it was good to have the breakfast included. The rooms are clean and the service was good too. Recommended.
Just completed a 2 day stay at this hotel and it was great. 4 stars only because the hot water took like 5 minutes of consistent running to get hot enough to shower. And, the bathroom can was super loud. The price was great and reflects the conditions. And, the rooftop bar VU46 is awesome.
The hotel was decent and conveniently located. The service was average until we checked out only to return home and find out we were charged for an extra night on our credit card that we did not stay. After trying to chase the manager around on the phone to get the matter resolved, it was one excuse after the other of why the problem couldnt be fixed. Then the manager who could barely speak English refused to return my calls. I ended up having to dispute the charge with the credit card company.
My family and I stayed here for 10 day. The rooms are very small which is fine because its New York City but our room had a big area of water damage by the windows and the hallways are extremely hot ( at least during summer). The room had its own window air conditioner but it didnt work very well. The bathroom door would get stuck closed and my children got stuck inside it for a while. The elevators are EXTREMELY slow and one of them broke at least once a day. The free breakfast was nasty consisting of frozen waffles, frozen pancakes, day old donuts, cornflakes and a few bread products. This might not sound so bad until you have to eat it. And if all that isnt bad enough to keep you away from this hotel I have one more thing to add... When we first got here the DOUBLE charged us for the stay, once on our debt card and once on our credit card. Not sure how they managed that since we told them to use the credit card and gave them the credit card when we got here. Thank goodness we had enough money to continue with our trips and sight seeing because being double charge is outrageousness. So I would suggest maybe paying a little more and getting a different hotel for your stay in NYC. also go see Jersey Boys its amazing! Oh yeah and the only Saving grace for this place is that the people who work here are friendly
We stayed for the weekend over the summer. Great price- less than the other hotels we looked at, so we were a little apprehensive. The hotel was 2 blocks from the center of Times Square. Just a few blocks from Rockefeller Center. We could walk to everything. Breakfast was a little lacking but everyone found something to hold them over and there was always a good supply. The room was nice- not the fanciest- but we had plenty of charging ports and free WiFi. The beds were comfy. The staff was helpful. The bell hops were terrific. We stored our luggage with no problem. The concierge was just a tour salesman- he couldn’t even help with a bandaid but the front desk could. I would stay again. We had a great weekend.
Stayed here to see the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade. Location was phenomenal; 1/2 block from the parade route. Rooms were small, but comfortable; rates were very reasonable. The breakfast was a bit plain, but filling and free of charge. Overall, highly recommend, especially for the parade.
Absolutely wonderful establishment I am so glad I came here I had an excellent stay. Funny enough I had booked 3 Nights at Trump Hotel but got there in my room wasnt ready yet the room they put me in smelled very distasteful. I said forget it and got a full refund took a taxi down here and I couldnt be happier. Lots of local shopping nearby and its within walking distance of Times Square where most of the action in this city happens ! Staff is wonderful very attentive to your needs . Dont waste your time anywhere else
We spent 3 nights here. Parked our car in the garage across the street, which offers a discount to hotel guests. We arrived much earlier than anticipated (about 11am), but we were able to check in right away. Front desk and concierge staff were helpful and efficient. Our room was rather small, probably typical of hotels in large cities. Everything in the room was in good working order, and the wi-fi service was good and strong. The hotel location is great - its an easy walk to Times Square and the Theater District. Subway stations are also close, so getting to the other sightseeing attractions is pretty easy as well.
Service - Good. However, was initially given an occupied room. Issue was quickly resolved. Luggage hold was very useful. Room- 2 room with queens. Decent. Length mirrors in each room. Water pressures and temp both good. Wifi connection wasnt great but not awful. Could have used another trashcan for 2nd room. Issues with TV remote. Breakfast was mostly carbs other than hard boiled eggs. No meat on day one or two. Location is perfect.
This is a cute Hotel that will give you everything you need for a cheap visit to New York. It is a good price and it is in a great place. The hotel is clean, and sharp looking. The Continental Breakfast is average, but a good way to save money. The parking voucher is very handy to have! This hotel isnt fabulous, but there is nothing bad about it that should scare you away.
Great little hotel. Nothing fancy but clean, quiet comfortable rooms. Adequate continental breakfast. Close to Times Square. Definitely go up to the rooftop Vu bar! Great place! Nice atmosphere with awesome staff and great drink specials. Nice get away from the hustle and bustle
Horrible. Recently stayed there one night in March 18. The window in our room was broken, allowing in the cold air so much it felt like the A.C. was on. The staff fixed it by stuffing towels where it was open The heater was loud, sounded like a diesel engine, couldnt sleep all night. The shower handle in the bathroom had to be jiggled to have hot water. And finally the window view was of the trash filled fire escape. Def not worth the price of a stay, plus parking. almost $400. RIDICULOUS
Stayed here just over a year ago, First and only time weve been to USA, The hotel couldnt have been better. It wasnt the biggest or fanciest but definitely catered to every of our needs, helped with the local travel etc... Very warm and welcoming and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable!
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!! This is a great stay for a great price. This hotel has everything you need for your trio to the big city. right between 5th and 6th ave. 3 min walk to Times Square; 5 min walk to Radio City Music Hall and to the theater district. Great restaurants all around. The staff was really nice. The rooms are pretty big for a New York Hotel. I was actually very pleasantly surprised about that. Rooms are clean and The beds are comfortable and the bathroom a pretty good size. Its pretty quiet, as well. You cannot hear any of the street noise. I enjoyed my stay so much, my family and I already booked 2 rooms for when we return in December. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
If I could rate this hotel less than one star I would. Our first night here we had no water and the A/C did not work. So we called the front desk (3 times before we got an answer) and told them because we had dinner reservations in an hour and needed to get ready, they said they were sending someone up. 20 minutes later still no one, so I called again (3 times again before getting an anwser) and they told us only the hot water worked right now. Which was not true we had neither hot nor cold water. So I went down to the front desk, explained what was going on and they reluctantly switched our room to another with water. When I turned the water on in the new room, it came out the color of chocolate. So brown and disgusting we still could not shower. Again tried to call the front dest with no answer. So I gave up on them for the day and went to my dinner reservation to return to the issue the next morning. I went to the front desk in the morning to speak to a manager and they could not let me speak to one, they told me to come back the next morning, and that again did not work becuase we were not there the next day. No compensation has been offered at all and when paying $200 a night for a room I expect at least decent customer service and did not even get that. The rooms were dingy, the bathroom had mold growing both on and next to the windows. I am very very unhappy with my stay here and would never come back again.
I give this hotel a 5 star rating, but lets be honest, no hotel is perfect. The Hotel at Time Square really tries hard to be a 5 star facility. We had a small interruption in our stay and the staff did everything they could to help accommodate us. The interruption was on their part but they really made an effort to fix the issue. The gentleman at the front desk was 100% empathetic to our situation and he REALLY impressed us with his attentive manner. Thank you Sushant. Your professionalism is an asset to the hotel. I hope your management is aware of your dedication.~great boutique hotel.~excellent location.~excellent price.~love rooftop bar.Listen, if you have a problem with this hotel or any hotel for that matter, approach the staff in a respectful manner because most are very willing to help rectify many situations. Like I said, no hotel is perfect but you have once again earned 5 stars from me. Im a VERY picky, selective traveler and proud of it. You certainly deserve 5 stars.
For about $100 per night, you cant beat the location. The service and cleanliness has been pretty good considering the price level. The breakfast doesnt have a lot of variety of items, but what they do have is decent quality. The single elevator we have to use does become annoying with many people using it, but after all, it is an old building in new York.
Great hotel! Soft bed 😍, Clean room, loved the shower, Great breakfast, Free 24hr cappuccino, hot chocolate, coffee, Cold filter water available and hot 24hr, Great location! Loved everything except the staff wasnt friendly but I think its a New York thing maybe not sure. I wouldnt definitely stay there again!
The location was great, just a short walk to times square and top of the rock, friendly staff, good breakfast, 24/7 free water and coffee in the lobby, i could print our boarding passes there for free as well, our room was clean. only thing we didnt like was the AC. it was impossible to move and blew directly towards the head side of the bed. low fan speed and changing the temperature didnt really make things better so we switched it off over night, otherwise we would have catched a cold in the midst of a 100 fahrenheit summer. however, we definitely liked this place.
I was a bit upset that the 2 bedroom suite was just that, no refrigerator or microwave in the room, no couch or sitting area, only one bathroom and the breakfast consisted of cold cereal, boiled eggs and bagel, bread or eggo. Truly not what I was expected. Elevator is very small
I did not like their air conditioning unit that stuck out the window. Too old school for me, I was hoping it would have been more modern. The plus sides, Times Square was a couple of blocks away breakfast, free computer and printing usage, different places to eat around. They just need to renovate their rooms.
Good and clean hotel. Id like to visit again for sure. Though, Id also would like to be a section where none smoking area. Iv smelled some smoke while I was asleep. Also, water-shower was warm, not hot that was hard to do, before or after getting to the hotel on a cold day. The hotel management should improve the WiFi connections, hot water in the shower/bathroom, breakfast staff. The little man in the breakfast area, in his 50 or 60 clean shave short 54, he has s strong face towards tips. He will tell you 2 to 3 times where the tip basket is, I didnt like that part though I tipped them every day of my stay. The hotel is close to Time Squire, easy to find on the gps or google map. Other then that, its a great hotel to stay at. I hope this helps. Free free to answer or comments on here or email me, thanks.
If you’re at New York and want to be close to the Times Square, then this is the address you may want to choose. Just 2 blocks from the never ending excitement of Times Square, this is a nice and cosy place. Offers decent breakfast menu and a very helpful staff. Several good eating joints for cuisine around the world surrounds The Hotel. Several city tour buses have stops within a couple of blocks. In short, nice place to stay in NY for a compact budget.

2022-05-10I was so impressed with this hotel. The location cant be beat for the price. We were so close to Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, and the Broadway shows! There was much to do within walking distance and easy access to the subway as well. The staff was polite and very helpful. Our room was exceptionally clean. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I loved the remaining touches from the past--the mail shoot and the stair rail had great character. I would definitely recommend.

2022-06-20Positive: This is a fantastic location if youre going to shows on Broadway or at Radio City. Its a vintage building, no frills. We had small rooms but beds were very comfortable, rooms clean and quiet. There are convenient restaurants all around. Negative: It would be nice to have in-room coffee, but there is a machine in the lobby which served us just fine.

2022-05-29The hotel is a little bit old but the location is excellent with reasonable prices. Staff is kind. The rooms are clean. The hotel is an excellent option for families. The reason why I don’t give 5 star is because I had some troubles with my credit card at the moment of the check in and I don’t know why so far. After this I paid many things in NY with this credit card. In that moment I did not receive any other option from the woman in the lobby. Fortunately, I had with me an additional debit card. If not I don know what I would do. By the way, I would return if I can.

2022-06-16I read a lot of the reviews and was a bit skeptical of what our stay with the family would be like but I must say it was so great!! It is an older hotel but very clean!! The staff was super friendly and anytime we needed extra towels, blankets, or trash bags, we just called the front desk and within 5mins they were there! It is the perfect location just a few blocks from Times Square! We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends! Thank you for a wonderful 5 night stay!!

2022-01-02We spent 4 nights and everything was perfect. Just one thing, they dont have coffee maker in the room, we had to bring ours. Shower was really hot, so after a cold day outside, that was nice! Front desk helped us with everything, no waiting time, and no extra charge for an early check in. They stored our bags because our flight was late at night, no charge for that. Great location in the center of times square. So we will come back for sure ! They made us have a beautiful stay !

2022-04-19Its not your typical 5 star hotel.... but it was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the wifi was great. I have no complaints. And for the price in THAT location--- we are very happy. We were able to walk to most anything we needed and not far from wonderful views! They were also friendly-- from the desk to the housekeepers. We will definitely try to stay here again when we return to this beautiful city.

2022-06-07The location of this hotel was excellent. A mere 300 meter walk to Times Square. However , staff is not very friendly. No suggestions , or explanations giving during check in or check out. Rooms are a bit outdated too. The toilet bowl seat cover had paint chips on it , so the black ceramic was being exposed. If you want luxury , do not stay here. If you want good idea location , I would stay here.

2022-07-02I stayed 3 nights and the staff was helpful and nice, the room was big, comfy and clean. 4 min to Times Square by walk. Its a really really nice hotel, I loved it!On an other note though, if you forgot or lost something in the hotel, you need to forget it because even if the service at the hotel is #1, the after service worth 1 star. The last day, I was in rush because I was about to miss by bus to go home and I just realized that I forgot something in the basement bathroom. I try to call at least 10 times (even if its cost money to call from Mtl). I tried at different time and different day, but I never talk to anybody at the lost item department, and when I try another department, staff just tell me that I need to call the right one, but nobody answered. I also tried to send an email, and again, no respond. I just want to know if someone find my sandal. Id just bought them and Im very sad that I forgot them when I was changing in the basement bathroom. If someone from thee staff read this, please answer me. Thank you.

2022-05-29I was planning to arrive before the check in.My husband tried to call 4 day before, but no one answered. We thought that we could pay some extra, and come inside before 3pm. But we had to wait 3 hours, with our 3 years old son.The service at the front desk was really poor. The guy that helped us with our bags is really nice and helpful.

2022-02-22Great location to Times Square, broadway, most the areas’ sightseeing. Get what you pay for hotel. Affordable but not great. Rooms were average, carpet rips, signs of bathroom mold. Rooms did not have hotel/channel guide. Some outlets did not work, 1 television did not work (don’t go to NY to watch tv in a hotel I know but should still work). Coffee machine in lobby is wonderful.. when it’s filled with ingredients to make coffee. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
