The Hudson in other cities:
The ambience is fantastic, the view is great. The drinks are amazing, that pina colada was the best Ive ever had. The sushi was good. The meals....the shrimp poboy was not really a poboy. The shrimp itself was good, but that was not a traditional poboy sandwich. The burger was cooked to perfection, but lacked seasoning. The staff is great, everyone is helpful, polite and friendly. All in all, I would definitely return.
The Atmosphere was great. The staff Polite. If you are NOT in a hurry and are OK with long pauses, this place is great. If not go elsewhere.Understaffed but pulling together WONDERFULY...If you want to complain about wait times, apply for a job. If not STHU and enjoy the ambiance.Loved loved loved my experience at this fine eatery. Minimal and overlooked complains that pale in comparison to the Hard working staff pulling it together.
Its the loveliest place to sit in the summer and I remember it from years ago when i loved to come here. Unfortunately now the food (we were here for lunch) was absolutely below even low expectations. Cheapest frozen breaded shrimp, tiny and underwhelming tacos (2 for $16!), A sad salad, and a very plain burger. Fries was the only thing that was decent. Cocktails are are some pre-mixed nightmare from the tap for ($15). Im so disappointed, i wanted this to me my summer Sunday lunch spot. The online menu shows other items like sushi and oysters that werent available (maybe its for the dinner menu? Or not available anymore?). Sadly really cant recommend depsite the amazing vibe. Maybe eat somewhere else and stick to beers when you come here.
Sushi was pretty good. I recommend the Hastings Roll - has a little bit of everything and I love the 4 color tobiko. The Spicy Crunchy Roll with Salmon was not noticeably spicy and there wasnt any crunch in it. The Tropical Roll was okay but bland tasting. The Playa Azul cocktail was refreshing and pretty, but I didnt really taste the Elderberry liqueur, which is why I got it. The atmosphere on the deck was really nice and I plan to come back again.
I was extremely disappointed ordering an earlydinner for pick-up. I live within walking distance and am currently 8 months pregnant, i figured by ordering early ahead of typical dinner rush i’d be able to get a hot meal from what I believed to be one of the few quality restaurants in the area. I placed my order at 4:50pm and a estimated pick up time was provided for 55-65 minutes later. I ordered the skirt steak which came with yuca fries as well as a cooked shrimp tempura sushi roll. I anticipated that it would not take so much time, but the app never updated to indicate the food was ready for pickup. I arrived at 5:45pm and saw a prepped bag at the bar, I confirmed with the young lady there it was mine. I politely asked how long the food had been ready and was told not long. I mentioned that the app never updated to indicate the food was ready and was told the kitchen staff is responsible for doing that. My walk home was less than 5 mins and upon arrival when i opened my food it was a less than lukewarm skirt steak and a container of 4 thickly cut, cold & hard pieces of lightly cooked yuca. There was no soy sauce or chopsticks provided for the sushi roll. To make matters worse when I tried to call the restaurant I was only able to reach a pre-recorded message with no option to speak to a staff member on duty. These are the types of underwhelming experiences i’ve become accustomed to trying to dine out/support local businesses in this neighborhood.
Nice hidden gem in Inwood that transports you out of the city. Not very accessible via public transit but if you’re in the area the views and sunset can’t be missed. The food is good and seems like a perfect place for a group with all their cocktails being offered in pitchers. Definitely worth checking out. Social distancing is being maintained and they have all the proper safety checks in place for those wanting to sit indoors. Grab a seat by the window!
I cant say how shocked I was when this restaurant was not a restaurant.👍 its just a cafeteria with a riverfront view ! Not only were you expected to tip people on your credit card when you purchased the items to eat.. but have to pick up the food and bring it to your table yourself !!Ive never in my life seen anything like that.... they had the nerve to call itself a restaurant ....they were no waiters , all drinks and food were had to be taken high School cafeteria style to open seating.. I honestly think I spent $8 for a cup of Campbells clam chowder soup
The food is delicious, the portions are perfect and the place itself is beautiful! There are long waiting times on weekends though, we went there for a brunch on a sunday morning, we arrived at 11:15 (the place opens at 11:00). They told us that we have to wait 30 minutes to get a table, we ended up waiting more than an hour, and another 35-40 minutes for the food.
Beautiful view and COVID 19 friendly. You seat yourself and order On your phone so make sure your phone is charged. The sister or waitress will bring your order to your table. The food was a little pricey, for example I got the lobster Mac and cheese with no bacon and it was $25 . I like the fact that the drinks are in plastic to go cups because we walked around a bit with our drinks. The ambiance was great and the music was pretty good. The food was amazing !!!!
We had heard this place was a gem given the view and the food. We went to the soft opening and it was awful. 45$ for two premixed frozen drinks, one was a pina colada that wasn’t even mixed. All of the alcohol was at the bottom and we were laughing trying to get it to be drinkable. My friend was incorrectly charged for drinks she didn’t order which makes no sense. A single truly costs 11/12$. Food is mediocre. Go here for the view but eat and drink somewhere else. Staff are unfriendly. Pack a picnic and sit on the river without dealing with this. Bruh I’m telling you. Horrible.
Sadly, it’s now a shell of what it used to be. Maybe on account of being open seasonally — only during warm months — the format changes year to year. Last year, it was my favorite spot in the neighborhood. Friends from Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan, and Queens would come to Inwood especially for this place. The food was incredible, they had an in-house itamae dishing up the *best* sushi in the neighborhood, and the drinks were incredible. This year: no more sushi. The format is fast-casual at fine dining prices (order from an app, pick up overpriced food from a window on a tray with your overpriced cocktails in plastic cups). In previous years, people howled about slow service but I did my best to shut that down because it’s a beautiful location and venue, the servers were always friendly, and the food/drinks were incredible — who cares if it took a while? This year, they cut service staff almost entirely — understandable, given the labor shortage. But it’s basically McDonalds with cocktails now. Oh, and the view is obviously still great. But the bang-for-buck factor is significantly reduced. I won’t be summoning far away friends here anymore, and likely won’t go nearly as frequently (used to be a couple of times per week). I hope they revert to the old format soon. And bring back the sushi!
A small group of friends met here after a nice short hike at Inwood park. We were very hungry and excited for food. We were not disappointed. The food was tasty and the drinks left us wanting more. Our server switched with another person which delayed the orders, but that was no big deal. The restaurant itself has a beautiful view and it makes you feel serene. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and if I have to give a small detail is that it needs a fresh component and the cheese tasted a little on the processed side. We also had sushi which was delightful!I recommend you visit! I will be returning soon.
Don’t waste your time.Menu is limited to just snacks, burgers and overpriced sides. Order on a screen and serve yourself. Bar drinks are simple overpriced and the staff is rude. This place should be turned over to a business that knows how to operate in this neighborhood. So many better options in the neighborhood than this overpriced has been location.
Not worth it! Nice view, mean staff, overpriced (bad) drinks, no service. Was ignored 2 times, wasn’t even crowded or busy, the 2 bartenders then served the two customers that clearly came after me since it was just the 3 of us trying to order drinks, they insulted me in a passive aggressive way so I clearly responded back and I simple left.
The food was delicious. The ribs were amazing both the dry and the wet ribs.I think these are the number one, #1, Ribs in upper Manhattan, second to dinosaur BBQ.We recommend the nachos for two, awesome deal, awesome portion. We had a pitcher of frozen margarita with mellow mango which was a hit among our group. What we like the most is the self-service! you have control over the menu and the ordering. You scan a QR barcode and it takes you to the menu where you place your order. It’s 90% contactlessThe one improvement I recommend is:If the customer wants shade, please use the umbrellas. They are not for decoration, they have a purpose and that is to provide shade for the customers. That was my only complaint, yet I still give you 5 stars!!
Worst service Ive seen in the city. Nice views, decent drinks, but 30 min wait for drinks at the bar and when seated at the table, crab that came without crab crackers and utensils, and items forgotten off of our order. All of this when not at all crowded. Decent views though. Its the old la marina.
Food was cold when I got it after waiting in line for people practically fighting each other for their food. This place used to be amazing, idk what happen but I probably will not come back. What a disappointment. This location is gorgeous. It’s sad that it has gone so downhill.
I’ve tried calling, emailing and DMing on instagram the restaurant for 5 days . I’ve left several messages . I was trying to set up a birthday celebration for my husband . The website has very little information. There is no option anywhere for reservations. I was really looking forward to trying the restaurant out but seems like they either aren’t open or their customer service needs some serious improvement
The food menu here is not that great if you are hungry or if you are looking for dinner. The view in the other hand is phenomenal from any angle. The drinks are good but very pricey and since it is the only place for a couple of block I guess they can get away with it. Overall, my experience here was good but I dont see myself coming here anytime soon. Also, if you dislike people smoking next to you, then you should avoid this place.
A decent restaurant with a nice view riverside. Food is average. I ordered the Belgian Waffles & my friends ordered lobster roll, chicken & waffles & a fish sandwich. We came for Brunch. Drink options were mimosa, bloody mary & a fritz. The place is nice & service is good. I dont think the food lives up to the cost. Its not anything new or exciting....which is fine but the taste isnt classic either. Youre paying for the view.
The Hudson seems ideal but it will never outperform the 8 years that La Marina NYC brought in business club wise- I really missed the live performances from mid Afternoon on Sundays to the evening- I will tell my Grandchildren on my experience at La Marina NYC because it was Literally the TOP LATIN CUISINE/OUTDOOR PATIO/ CLUB IN UPTOWN ON ANY GIVEN SUNDAY HANDS DOWN HANDS DOWN! This spot revolutionized Dyckman in bringing Celebrities and establishing it as the Go To Spot To Go To On a Sunday- I am going to petition to the local community board and the 34th princinct to bring back what unified and brought live entertainment in Inwood and NYC
Great food and wonderful atmosphere. The restaurant is really fun and has beautiful views on a nice day. The music was great too. I gave 3 stars because the service was awful. To be clear, the service at the bar was great but in the restaurant was awful. Its surprising that we even ate because our waitress didnt come up to us once. I had to keep asking other people to either take our order, bring a napkin, and get the check. I dont even know who our waitress was honestly. And they force 18% gratuity event for tables of two so the employees arent encouraged to give good service. And even the host was reluctant to seat us. When he did, he said we were the last ones he would seat outside which I thought was strange as it was only 5pm and then he sat 4 other couples outside after us. Overall the service was disorganized and strange
If youre ordering to go, place your order using their website before you get there! (Its at least a 15 min wait otherwise.) The large drinks to-go come in a cool tiki cup too and the margarita was 💯. We didnt stay but the host that helped explain the ordering process and brought us our drinks was super nice! Id definitely come back here.
Tatsy food and gorgeous views. Atm it works by scanning a qr code, placing an order online, and then going to pick up the food in to go boxes and bringing it back to the table. Lots of waste, but definitely on the covid safe side. Its also reasonably priced for NYC, I wanna go back to try the truffle mac and cheese!!
Friends! If you are wanting a beautiful sunset with great views of the Hudson and the GWB this is the place. Get there early and grab a good spot. The food is really decent and the drinks are okay as well. Order from your numbered table via an app. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
This place is the spot. Ive been 5 times in the last few weeks.... whoops...- Super safe feeling outdoor dining for pandemic times (scan QR code on your table to order & pay in one swoop)- BEAUTIFUL views overlooking the Hudson, GWB, Ft. Tryon and that other state across the river- Tasty food & large menu. They do both BBQ & sushi well.- Great drinks.Id say its $$ (two dollar signs), but worth it for what you get in ways of ambiance, views, & food.
This is a beautiful venue but the ownership/ management does not capitalize on it. First, the food was so, so at best. The customer service was lacking very much and managment looked like they did not care too much for maintaining good customer service and also support for their employees. For instance, the food selection was minuscule and so were the alcoholic beverages. They did not have Piña Coladas, nor Margaritas and not even coffee which are staples of a place similar to La Marina. Also, at 8pm on a Saturday ( Labor day weekend) there were out half of their desserts offering. How that happens? Also, my Lobster was old and dry and the manager would not come out to speak to us. We were told ( through the wait staff) that we should have expressed our concerns earlier in the meal but La Marina could / would not comp. us anything. As to our waiter very nice man, but needed more training and support. He was running around the restaurant all the time and rarely attended to us. For example, we finally got his attention for dessert and he forgot to give us spoons for our beligered dessert. My wife had to go to another employee to ask for two spoons. And finally, another employee took my payment and when my waiter came back he came with another bill as if I had not paid with an 18% gratuity included in the bill for two people. As you can see I was very happy with the outing at this establishment and would not recommend any of my friends, family nor enemies to attend at this time for food. If youre going to drink from a limited bar selection, lounge around and / or dance then.....
A hopping place. I have been here before at night, but I went this time at 3pm, when they opened. There is plenty of open seating outdoors, under the umbrellas, or inside the restaurant. A nice casual atmosphere where one can enjoy the view and breeze off the Hudson River. The red sangria was good. Parking is limited, so take that into consideration.
Portions were very small and expensive for what you get. Service was a bit slow. Could at least have served bread on the side but definitely preferred to make the portions bigger, especially since a lot of previous reviews have the same complaints. I would go here for drinks or a very beautiful summer day since the surroundings are beautiful, not for the food. Maybe a greater cocktail place.
I went on Saturday with my family for a birthday dinner. When we first entered, no one greeted or paid attention to us. We literally had to stop one of the servers to tell them why we were there. We made a reservation but it wasnt registered. The place was understaffed and there was a wedding party taking place. We waited a least 15 minutes for menus. The drinks were so so. The food was not what I expected. To start the appetizers werent fresh. The calamari dish was overcooked and mostly crumbs. The breaded cauliflower was hard. The tomahawk steak was under cooked. The guacamole tacos were good. Overall it wasnt a good experience.
Was disappointed.View and ambiance were great. Service also was very nice. The food was mediocre.Guac had too much lemoncalamari was over cooked.Cheese plate was good. But that’s just an assembled dish :)I had the mussels for my main dish. They also were overcooked. The potato’s were borderline undercooked in the mussels!I want to come again and try the sushi. Since that seems to be the one getting good reviews.
Weve been to this location multiple times during the years and always had a wonderful experience until 7/31/2021. We waited for over an hour when there were evidently plenty of empty seats. We were told there were two private events and we could not be accommodated earlier. We requested to sit because we were with an 80 year old woman that couldnt stand for that long, we were told they couldnt accommodate us. We ended up waiting in the car waiting for a text to be told our table would be ready. We waited another hour to receive our food of course the one special order item was incorrect but that was not as appalling as the lack of food on our plates. While everyone enjoyed the taste of their food there wasnt much of it! The guacamole dish was 3 inches. According to their description the macaroni and cheese which costs $16 is listed under plates but the dish was 4 inches and contained 12 corkscrew macaroni. The tacos are mini like all their dishes except the skirt steak. Our total bill was $167.18. The money was not the issue what was the issue is that while the taste is good, it is not worth the poor customer service and the exceptionally tiny portions of food. The nicest person there was the one that brought us the food everyone else including the manager whom we complained about the special order took responsibility as if he wanted a trophy for indicating it was his fault. This is evidently another gentrification move of absolutely zero Latino foods or flavors on the menu, overpriced, bougie portions to keep the neighborhood out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
The place is big, spacious, and with an outdoor on the water, where you can enjoy a nice view of the river and the Cloisters. I guess the restaurant is open only in the summer, so double check before going there. We went for brunch, and the food was very good, I cannot complain about that. The problem of this place is the service: the staff is slow and forgetful.
The place is physically very nice. Lots of people work there, menus look decent, etc.The food is above average but not by much. The service is very slow and a bit innatentive (odd considering there is plenty if staff). We had seafood platter for two and ribeye steak. Like a lot of places in NYC, if your food has some sort of Latin element it is likely to be better as odds are decent the person cooking it has a Latin background - case in point, the ceviche, chimmichurri, and salsa Verde were the three most flavorful items we ordered. We had been given a generous gift certificate to the restaurant, otherwise we wouldnt have gone. While I had a great time, with a great view, I wouldnt go back and pay the inflated prices for the quality of food and service. On our way out a bunch of guys were considering eating. They asked me, good or great? Its good, I said. But not great.
Nice environment, food is awful.Eggs Benedict 19 bucks— barely any salmon and served on potato that tastes like a hash brown out of a bag. The salad seems to come to straight out of a mixed greens bag with a few tomatoes tossed in, and takes 95% of plate. Salad is served with no dressing, fyi.Chicken & Waffles 16 bucks— Burned to a crisp, waffle had a similar texture to a brick. Chicken was also burnt to pair with waffle, and was very dry with no seasoning.Leaving this place hungry.
Nice, kinda clubby atmosphere. Loud music, beautiful view of the Hudson. Most of the food being served to others looked amazing. I had the fish sandwich which was pretty good except the bread was cold. My husband had the steak sandwich which was extremely tough, and had to be sent back. Because they were very busy and our waiter had a huge section, it took forever to get him to come take the steak away and replace it with something else. Might be a great place to come to when they are less busy.
Great place to go eat in the summer. I came here on a Friday evening and Sunday evening. Both times the food was great and so were the drinks. The alcoholic beverages were not watered down. The sexy lemonade was horrible though, but they exchanged it without a problem for another drink. At first I was skeptical of coming here because I was afraid of it having the same atmosphere of the other restaurants on that street that closely resemble a club. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a family friendly spot and laid back atmosphere with great views. Will be returning!
The current management seems more focused on community and environment than a few years back when this was La Marina. The views are super-great and the stroll-in experience felt welcoming. Staff seems new and in need of more training and additional hires. Lets hope this comes. Food is straightforward. My choice of a salad was a good one: affordable, tasty, healthy and ample portion.
After waiting more then an hour & a 1/2 . Which by the way the indoor had empty tables they finally sat us down. We waited a bit for the appetizers mind you it was not packed or busy. Our waiter was phenomenal that I have to say. Food was good but not worth the wait. They need new management as the front desk hostess couldnt tell you a ball bark wait time. Then you can’t make a reservation for a party thats less then 10. This place will close just like the marina if new management doesn’t take over quick.
So during the lunch time, this place gets crowded but the food is pretty good. However, the prices bite. Dont get any type of chicken because its really dry and impossible to eat without a sauce. Their drinks are pricey and not worth it because they dont have enough alcohol to them. However, do come for the view, it is breathtaking.
Omg, this Restaurant has SERIOUS management issues. We be been there several time in the past months, and every time, we were seated and then nothing happens for at least 20 minutes. Then a waiter finally arrives and apologizes that there was staffing confusion and that they’re understaffed. One of the times we went there, we finally got our drinks ourselves at the bar because the waiter failed to bring us two beers for over 30 minutes.During the last visit on a hot day, around 2pm, we ordered sparkling water, sparkling wine and regular wine. Then nothing happened for another 15 minutes. After that, the waiter brought the wine, apologized that they were out of the sparkling wine. We asked what about the water? “Oh sorry, I’ll bring it right away.”Then nothing happened. After another long while, we flag the waitress down and again ask about the water, and tell her that the wine glass was dirty. “Oh I’m so sorry, I’ll bring your water and a new wine glass right away, and I’m ready to take your orders.”We order oysters, Sushi, and a the Mango salad. I tell her I have an allergy and to please check on the dressing, or bring just oil and vinegar. Then nothing happens for another 10 minutes. Finally, she comes back with water, and apologizes that they were out of larger water bottles and had brought two tiny ones instead. No sign of a new wine glass…. I ask again about he wine, and she : “oh sure I’ll bring it right away”.Then she comes back, and tells us they were out of the Oysters, and also had no Sushi that day. We had to order a complete new meal, one of them was brisket. Finally she brought the food, no wine, and no mentioning of the salad dressing and my allergy, and told me she didn’t know if they had put the dressing on. I ask her for oil and vinegar and she came back and only brought oil and told us they didn’t have vinegar.I asked for salt and pepper, which we never got. The brisket was terrible, dry and almost inedible. There seem to be no food stations that just offer salt and pepper, or water. The waiters are completely without peripheral perception and only focus on one task a time, going back and forth for every single item. When I asked one waiter who was serving another table, why everything took so long, he said “because management is totally disorganized”.I can’t help, but agree.
I would really like to love this place. My first time experience at this restaurant could really have been better one. My stars goes to the ambience of this location... it is truly one to remember. As for waitress, well she seemed to be an amateur and expected nearly a $35 tip for poor service. As for the food well, lets just say Ive had better.
Really nice location, however the place is severely understaffed. There were very few people working there and they had so much on their plate. It took me almost an hour to get my food, and this is with ordering the food from the bar and grabbing your drinks. The hostess also acted as a bartender and was bringing food out as well. She wore many hats. There were maybe 3-4 people I saw working and they were completely overwhelmed as the place was full, but did their best. Would not have come if I knew the service would have been this way.
I went for my birthday with my family we were 11 in total we had to wait an hour and a half just to be seated the girls at the front desk even spoke with the manager and Nothing happened, and we were finally seated the kitchen was closed because it was too late 😒 we ordered a steak it was SPICY, BBQ chicken it was SPICY and had tomato sauce instead of BBQ, a guac burrito it was SPICY! The restaurant is beautiful and the view amazing but it is very bad managed. Our server Carolina was amazing!
I really love the place. I took my mom here for dinner. And she really like it. The food was great, the only problem was the service. Otherwise I would give this place 5 stars. They took long on bring the food and the drinks. But other than that amazing place and the music was on point !
We had the absolute best time here enjoying the views of the GWB bridge, sail boats, and sunset on the river. Lively atmosphere, great food, five-star service, and fun drink pitchers. It reminds me of a restaurant that would be in Hawaii with a huge outdoor (dog friendly) space, and open air seating indoors for summer. Highly recommend for a date spot, meeting up with friends, special occasions! Definitely will be back!!! Thank you to Abraham and team for the best hospitality!!
Very relaxing open-air restaurant. Tasty food and drinks. Sushi rolls are a big item on the menu along with familiar American dishes. There was no table service during the afternoon so you have to order from the bar. Parking is not easy but there is a garage a few blocks away. Oh, they do let you know a Covid-19 Recovery fee is included in the final bill. I appreciate that.
We had a wonderful time at the Hudson. We came with a group right after they had re-opened for the season. They were still working out some quirks in their new processes (understandably after being closed for months) so our food took a while, but we had a lovely time enjoying the views and drinks. Our server and all the managers were all very accommodating and friendly, and when it arrived the food was fantastic. Lots of options for any dietary restrictions. This is a relaxing and beautiful place, and I cant wait to come back!
Great spot on the Hudson, walking distance to the Cloisters. We had a picnic table with a working umbrella for 4+ hours, and had a great time winding down the summer. Lots of people hanging out with dogs or playing shuffleboard, good selection of beers and frozen summer drinks on tap.
Great location right on the water with views of the GW bridge, and cute decor...fun and classy summer spot for drinks & dinner. You can dress up or down. The food and drinks are good. We waited uncharacteristically long for our (delicious) sushi, but it seemed like they were surprised by how many people came that night and just weren’t prepared. We asked them to refund and refill our drinks for free because we waited so long and the ice melted and they were gross, and they kindly obliged. Overall, good vibes and good flavors — just a little understaffed/uncoordinated on that particular night. A lovely little escape from the stuffiness of the city.
Beautiful view. Stunning actually. Drinks were cool. But the service was horrible. We didn’t get our food until a hour after we order it, after waiting 20 minutes to actually order. Also, when I wasn’t happy with my food, And was told I couldn’t order anything new. Overall if it wasn’t for the view, I would not be back. Terrible service in my experience.
The new branding was a surprise (formally La Marina) . When we arrived we were informed it was self service. We arrived when it was not busy but once multiple customers arrived it was a little difficult to place orders with the bartender. The food was ok.. but not great. The drinks were also ok. Being able to dine by the water is always great.
This place is wonderful! Waterfront view, quiet on the weekdays, lively on the weekends, service was fast, the pours were generous and the food was tasty! Our server, Rebecca, had plenty of suggestions on what to order, we went with a few of the specialty sushi rolls. This place has gotten much better since it first opened too!
So this is a bit of a hard review because Ive come to this place a few times, as I live in the neighborhood. As of writing this, labor day 2021 the service is terrible. I understand that due to the nyc mandate they had to let go alot of their staff for being unvaccinated, but if youre going to provide horrendous service and only have 3 people on staff, then please just close your doors for the season. The person who sat us was also the only person running the bar, where we were told to order our food. There was only one person bringing out food for the entire restaurant and he looked seriously stressed. My food came out in a reasonable time, however I had to wait an additional 10 minutes before I could even eat it as I didnt have any utensils and had to wait 10 minutes before some were brought out. My food also came out of the kitchen cold (brisket and Mac and cheese). My wifes food came out a full 35 minutes after my meal came out. She order a sushi roll, which I know takes longer than normal, but as Ive been here before, it doesnt take that much longer. The last time we came here (before the staff shortage), they charged our bill incorrectly 3 times and eventually just comped the bill. While that is appreciated, the over all service is not that great, which despite the food being generally ok, will just ruin the experience of the restaurant. Its a shame as the restaurant is located in a beautiful location, and has a ton of potential. But the bad service, exasperated by this NYC mandate has really hurt this place.I would just recommend that if they cant properly staff the restaurant to provide a base level of service to the customer, then as a seasonal restaurant they should just lock up and try again next spring/summer.But hey, at least the Sangria was good !Ill come back next spring and see how it is.
Great spot on the water with good food and really good service. Felt like a holiday oasis in the Caribbean with a live band. Views across the river of the Palisades and boats up and down the Hudson river. Plus GW bridge, made for a great time. And the local politicians were dining as well!
Well for all the hype the food was sub par.. We had to send a steak back 2 times and the 3rd time it was still wrong.. Great view but thats about it, guac had no flavor, coconut shrimp was equally bad.. The salmon was good but the veggies were cold and the carrots were hard.. Over all a pretty bad experience..
It almost makes me mad that a restaurant this bad occupies a space that is so gorgeous and scenic. I really havent had a worse restaurant in New York. The food was bland AND took more than an hour to come out and the service was almost nonexistent. The only saving graces were the delicious drinks and views. My advice to the owners since I see them reply to so many reviews: learn how to manage a restaurant beyond numbers and yelling at staff. These are not problems stemming from the pandemic but are a mismanagement of talent and resources. It feels like there is no formal or true leadership to steer this business.
This place is lucky I am even giving it one star. One of the worst service ever!!!! We waited more than 10 mins before someone even acknowledged us to ask if we were being helped. After stating that no one has, we than waited another 8 mins before our waiter came to take our order. Then the waiter finally came and rushed us, once we received our drinks I noticed midway that my cup was dirty. After we received our food, I would expect it to be good and it was horrible. We didnt even finish what we ordered. I had a salad that looked extremely old. The only nice thing about this place is the scenery, but its not even worth it. On top of everything when it came time to pay BEWARE, the waiter tried to give himself the maximum amount of tip, thank God I realized it and adjusted the amount to no tip in the pin pad.
I have been to this place a few times for the views and enjoy a nice meal.. All staff is on their phones, they have people standing infront of them and they have no idea because they are on the phone. Its sad and unprofessional. I takes forever to get service when its not even busy, everyone has a do not disturb face. Not very attentive at all. Only staff that was friendly was the gentlemen cleaning tables.
Wow, what a transformation. My friends are I went here when this spot first reopened and there were quite a few bumps in the road as far as service went. This time, everything was smooth sailing. The staff was quick and efficient, the decor vibrant and inviting; and the drinks kept flowing. Such a great experience that Im sure will be repeated again and again. Our server was Rebecca and she took such good care of us. It was a friends birthday as well, and she managed to make the day as special as I had hoped. Her ideas were on point and contributed greatly to a fantastic night. Thanks Rebecca and the rest of The Hudson team for all!!
I want to like this place for its views and outdoor seating but the truth is its a bit subpar. Ive been 4 times, once for take out (no complaints) once at night, twice at lunchFirst time dining in, took a friend: great mai tais that are very strong, apps good, our steak took an HOUR+ to come out. By the time it did the place was literally closing up. We had to repeatedly check on it. It was good but the experience soured by the poor service. But the views are incredible and the food was okay, and the drinks are killer...so I returned with my mom...For lunch there is practically no staff. You have to walk up to order everything from the bar, take your drinks, the food will come...eventually. This time I came looking for the snow crab boil prominently advertised (SEAFOOD, BBQ, SUSHI), to no avail...no crab legs today. Drat. I ordered the brisket which was not like the brisket I had during my take out experience. It was dry, rubbery, and looked about a week old. You could tell the flavor was there at some point, but it probably shouldnt have been served. Those crab legs were still on my mind though, and the frozen drinks were very good...so I returned, with my husband.Again, for lunch, I knew to expect limited service but we wanted good drinks and were celebrating a bit. So here I go again. I call, because I REALLY want those crab legs, to confirm its on the menu today. An American man answers, says Yep! We have them!!... actually let me... Yep! We have them Me: hmm, sounds like he knows he should have checked but didnt... we shall see. We get there, guess what?! NO CRAB LEGS. Im done yall. I like the views but dont like to be lied to by whoever that was too lazy to actually check if they can satisfy their customer. It was a bum move to get us in and then disappoint, but still get our $$$. And for that, here I go arating...
It’s a very nice view for sure. The Salsa is blaring away in a cheerful atmosphere. We didn’t try any of the high end items on the menu, just went with hot sandwiches and fries. They advertise the best pina colada in the city but it was the worst I have ever had. I’m not a big fan anyway but when made with fresh ingredients and with good rum it’s a tolerable bev. This version was more like a 7-eleven slushee with what i can only describe as a high level of sweetened condensed milk. Our food was mediocre at best. Disappointed that they don’t want to put a little more effort into the details at this beautiful nyc spot.
First time visiting since the closing of the previous establishment La Marina and I love what this property has become. Loved the vibes and atmosphere provided along with the oldskool funk and soul selections coming from the speakers. Carolina who tended our table was more than great. She really went above and beyond for us. I see myself coming back here very soon
The place is beautiful, staff are pleasant as well, and very accommodating. Unfortunately our dinner was not to par when they served my daughter seafood paella with chicken and sausage, even though it was confirmed the dish could be made strictly with fish, as she is pescetarian. The dish was remade 3 times, but it was obvious the pieces of meat were just removed, as we found pieces of chicken each time. One other seafood platters were cold when we received them as well. They kindly reheated it. Fried seafood platter was without the lobster tail it was supposed to come with. They did remove that from the bill. My sons brisket was received at least 45 min after everyone else. Finally after discussing with the manager, the paella was given correctly, and the bill was adjusted accordingly. Everyone enjoyed their meal, except me, I didnt care for the fries seafood. I would visit again to give a second chance and hopefully they can ammendment their mistakes.
Service about as bad as it gets. Our server took our order within 10 minutes of sitting down and never came back.Waited an hour for any food, our appetizers came with our entree, and the busboy was the only person to acknowledge anything amiss. He even had to get the check for us.A backed up kitchen is OK - but not a single person apologized for the wait, brought us more water, or even really acknowledged that we were sitting there. To top it off - a required gratuity for the staff who spoke to us twice.Won’t even review the food, because it doesn’t make a difference. Hopefully the next owners will know how to own their shortcomings.
Pathetic service. Never have I ever been so disappointed to actually leave a bad review. They made us wait for more than an hour for a table and yet we could see people going in without any reservation. And after sincerely waiting for more than an hour , the front door person checked his list where our names were actually striked out. And then after being seated , nobody came to offer water or take an order. I had to personally ask the waiter to please come and take the order. Then they took more than half hour to get 1 sandwich. Upon asking how much more time it will take , the waiter simply said I don’t know and did not even bother to ask in the kitchen or be apologetic about it. We could see all the other people coming later than us being served. After not being able to take the disrespect anymore, me and my friend decided to walk out and the waiter did not ask anything despite seeing us leave. Never been disrespected so much as a customer. Places like this should shut down. I WILL make sure to tell everyone I know to never go to this place. A disgrace to hospitality industry.
Came here for drinks and lunch today as my party wanted to explore upper Manhattan. Told wait time would be 1 hour and a half by a female hostess. We were fine with this as we did not place a reservation in advance and decided to walk the area while we wait.In this time we passed the restaurant twice and noticed empty scattered seating; at 2 hours we decided to move on thanks to that hostesses attitude when I asked for an idea when she thought we’d be seated. We tried out Pat’e nearby instead!Definitely not coming back.
This place is wonderful! We came here on a Wednesday afternoon and the staff took great care of us with a beautiful Tomahawk steak cooked perfectly, delicious sides, great beer and cocktails. The view is gorgeous and the ambiance is to die for with a killer playlist on all the time. Shoutout to Rebecca and the chef for such a wonderful experience!
It’s pricey and the food is average. French Fries came soggy. We were charge with a COVID surcharge, when the have 100% capacity. I hope they use that money for the COVID victims and their families.I personally not recommend this place, other places downtown have better views and better menu.
Terrible service! We got there on Friday night around 7pm, and they told us they were unable to serve us for dinner, we can only get drinks and snacks at the bar! So we went to the bar, then about five ppl were working there, but none of them taking orders. they ignored me for like 10 minutes. They don’t clean tables, food are slow. Nice view, but impossible to get a table without reservations.
We came to this place with high expectations, we were really disappointed. The fries where cold and full of oil, couldnt eat the calamari, ribs overcooked, service was almost non existant, great location maybe a good spot for drinks, but the food was a real let down. Wont come here to eat again.
The hostess was friendly and accomodating; she seated us by the water, as requested. The server was also friendly and very pleasant. We ordered drinks, I ordered draft IPA and my wife ordered Prosecco. I was informed that they were out of the Draft IPA and they brought my wife a rose Prosecco, which she did not order. My wife ordered shrimp tacos but when they arrived they were mini in size, like appetizers. I ordered a Brisket sandwich. What I got was a Brisket meal. It was dry and cold and needed sauce or dressing. It was twice the cost of the sandwich. In addition, the side of fries were very salty. We had sticker shock when the bill arrived, $60.00 and no drinks! Maybe well try them again, I hope they do better. PS. The music was too loud in our seating area.
Amazing seafood, and the frozen drinks are just as tasty. What really wins you over, is the view. This restaurant has a spectacular view like no other in New York City. The Hudson, lives up to its namesake with a spectacular view of George Washington bridge and the Hudson.
Service is sadly terrible. It took maybe 20 minutes to just get water. We got to order our food while we were baking in the sun. We asked if we may have an umbrella, but we were told no because of the wind but immediately after, umbrellas were opened for all other customers. We thought maybe then we get one as well, but we didnt. Because of the sun we asked to move to a different table instead but were told no again because of a policy. Because my wife was becoming nauseous we asked someone else again for an umbrella but understood we could move to a shaded seat instead and at that point the manager came and scolded my wife, asking werent you told you couldnt move? The waitress had already told you that. My wife explained the situation with the sun and instead of bringing an umbrella to us, the Customer, we were asked to move to a table toward the back of the restaurant, although earlier they had said the policy was we couldnt move after ordering. The entire experience was terrible, embarrassing and uncomfortable. A costumer was becoming physically sick due to the sun and instead of good customer service we received a scolding in front of the rest of the restaurant by the manager. We walked down to mamajuana and we recived way better service.
Came in last Sunday and sat outdoors. The service was confused at best. Drinks took forever and the cocktail menu clearly caused the staff major confusion. Bringing us drinks and not knowing what they were called or what was in them. We had empty water glasses on the table for 15 minutes before they got filled and in our second (and final) round of drinks, one cocktail was re-ordered and came back looking completely different - turns out it was gin and not the tequila the first one had been. We had so many servers I lost count! Beautiful spot but I couldnt bear coming back for a full dinner if service would be this slow and confused.
Wow! Just wow.CAROLINA ! CAROLINA! Shout out to her, first of all. She Is the reason we all left with wanting to come back. she Is exceptional! I will be asking for her every time i come back. She is extremely attentive. Knowledgable, recommended delicious drinks and is an all around great addition to this establishment, the fact that shes bilingual is an absolute plus! She knows her stuff. We eat out, a lot, we were recently at “electric lemon” and i can confidently say Carolina sets the bar for quality service, i promise. I will be sad when she gets promoted because with service like that, she MUST! Also, Lijah (With an L) , she greeted us upon arriving, and was extremely accommodating and attentive as well, directed us to the bar and promptly kept us up to date on the wait time for our table. She was exceptional as well ( i hope i spelled her name correctly)I personally believe that 50% of dining experience is service and the other 50. The food. Food was great, drinks delicious. Ambiance, on point.Overall Both of these ladies set the bar high, give them their flowers . I also got to see the owner walking around, attentive, absolutely reflects the service. “La marina” could never.See you guys soon. Much love !
For all posting 1 stars on poor service, YOU’RE right. Don’t let the responses from owner fool you. Point blank if you have a problem, ask for Henry, Lyjah, or Rebecca. They handle it all and are amazing. However, the owner, Jimmy has been responding on here pretending he can’t find staff… WRONG. He is power hungry, negative, and a bully and fires people left and right because he can… the staff is terrified at all times and it makes for a tense and negative environment. I myself (13 years experience, have raving customers, worked amazingly with staff) was let go recently because another staff member lied to me about a situation and put my job at risk….. Jimmy didn’t listen or understand, simply fired as he’s done repeatedly to amazing people who tried to make that place better. So he CAN find staff and willing people… these responses are comical. I was a patron 3 times prior to working there and the food is under quality and over priced and wait times for drinks or food are well above what it should be. Save your money, your time, and your stress.
I am disappointed to leave a negative review. I will give it two for the ambiance, view, and the eventual discount we deserved on our bill. We were here to celebrate my son’s bday. It was a party of 13, which is large yes, however a reservation was made so they should have been prepared. We waited after being a few minutes late, at which point they wanted to sit us several tables away from each other (picnic table area). Three men in our group chose to inconvenience themselves & use a high table to be closer to us. It took awhile for our server, at which point she provided us with several excuses on how busy it was vs. staff ratio. It did not seem overly crowded however. Our pitcher took over an hour, at which point it was delivered without serving glasses-then having to search for someone to give us glasses. Our appetizers arrived over an hour later as well & only half of them. Other excuses were “I don’t know if we have anymore”. We should have been informed soon after our order if this was the case. My two granddaughters were with us, and not only did they wait over an hour for the appetizers, they were told over 30 mins after ordering main dish that the dish was not available. They then waited another 30-40 minutes for what was ordered instead. All of our main dishes were served erratically at different times. And 2 of us never received a dish (eventually taken to go). I will say the server was apologetic, but we wish she communicated more with us & took some responsibility prior to our complaints. ***From our observations it appeared the ACTUAL manager on duty was instructing other “team” servers to handle our complaint rather then do as MANAGERS should and talk to us himself. We ended up being helped by CARLOS, who was very helpful finally after 2.5 hours of disorganization. In terms of food: I’ve never had yukka fries that were practically smashed! AND the HENNY colada pitcher @ $65 was practically a milkshake. At the end, we were given pieces of cake at no cost to sing happy birthday-of course we were then told no more candles-at which point we could only laugh, pay and LEAVE. Again, I do not like leaving negative reviews but hoping this can help in making the improvements needed.
Just came back from this restaurant with my family. Waited for the food 1 hour 15 minutes. When the waiter asked how we are doing, told her that we`ve been waiting for the food more than an hour - it looks like she did not even pay an attention to that fact earlier. Portions were small - 5 ribs for 26$ and this is positioned in the menu as an entrée, not even as as appetizer. The food was average. Bartender forgot to put lime in my second mojito and orange into the second blue moon for my wife. And you have always look for the waiters when you need something - they only appear once in a half hour and go directly from one point to another not looking around and pretending they are quite busy with something else. The view and the restaurant itself are quite nice, but we will not come back.
I ordered a paella to go trusting whatever they advertise in the menu. I just opened the box and what a bad surprise: it is a bunch of rice with three clams that were not cooked enough, chicken and something that I guess is chorizo. No shrimp, lobster,or fish. No taste, even my dog refused to eat it!!! Shame on this restaurant. What a beautiful location to offer this lack of respect, and on top of that they charged $29. Disgusting.
Go for the river views and the surprisingly decent BBQ. Beware though the weak, chemical-tasting pina colladas and that a 15 percent tip is included in the billed amount and then an ADDITIONAL 18 to 25 percent is requested after you pay. (Minus one star just for that, not cool). Unlike some reviewers I found the service to be good too, if a bit disorganized. Portion sizes are ok, but not great, especially for the price.
First time here- this was my experience. Great open space both in and outdoor. However, I can tell you the service outdoor is different from the service youll receive indoor. We chose outdoor not realizing it was a little chilly. They have the qr scan menu in which you pay for your order before it comes. OR you can order with the waiter. You get your own water when seated outside. The one person at our table who ordered with the waiter got their food 1st even though they ordered last. We were told we ordered our food to the wrong table even though the qr code gave us a table number. 2 of the 4 drinks didnt come after 15 mins of being seated. Once it got too chilly we asked to be moved inside not once, but three times (there was room). Good looks to Val the host who saved an overall not great experience. Food was ok. Would I return...? Not on my own accord, but would if another person wanted to go there. Maybe the experience will be different next time. Cute spot though.
Great views. Make sure your phone is charged as you’ll need it to scan the QR code to obtain the menu AND you will also need your phone to order food.Ribs were great. Service could have been a little better. Maybe I just went on an off night.Seating with good views is first come first serve.
It was very hot a few weekends ago. I ran out of water on my run and stopped by to try to buy a bottle of water or coke. The receptionist was busy dealing with the lunch crowd and didnt want to deal with me. She refused to sell me any water or coke (no doubt dealing with lunch crowd made more money). The lack of simple sympathy was shocking.
Beautiful out door eating with excellent social distancing. For a Thursdsy the place was packed however we were not rushed and was able to just sit back and relax and enjoy the views. our waitress Maddy was awesome and super attentive and friendly. you can sit in the front and order with no table service or sit at the back and be served. Either way the sofas are inviting the food is good and sitting outside just enjoying a cocktail or two and the vie will make you forget that your in upper Manhattan.
The food was great, server could have been a bit more talkative had more energy, probably tired day was hot I guess the music was good, view is beautiful, fast service would recommend & definitely will go back ate a shrimp quesidilla my wife was very pleased with her food as well
Beautiful place, great service, delicious food, flying napkins, and twirling menus!!! The Hudson should consider having some sort of paper weights for napkins and little table bins for garbage like straw paper and dirty napkins. The service is quick and efficient but the wind is unpredictable. Think cool river rocks or conk shells ;) Really cool vibe. Hopefully it stays that way 😁👍
Its a very overpriced restaurant with bad service and food.Pros: Location is great, beautiful views right on the Hudson river; if you want to hang out and have a few expensive drinks this would be the place; current social distancing is observed and tables are spaced out.Cons: 1) Food - it arrived practically cold; luke warm soggy french fries; almost frozen crab cakes; the sauce in the sandwiches masked the fact that the shrimps are less than fresh. They served ice cold milk with hot coffee.2) Service - Firstly the host is pretty rude. No reason for it that I could see for it, just generally unpleasant. Secondly, orders are placed thru an app and the order can’t be completed without adding a tip of at least 18%. However, there is hardly any service: the wait staff brings drinks after a long wait; and food in a bag after an even longer wait (ours was an hour); there was a spill at the table and since there is no service, I went up to the front to get a rag so I can clean it. Was grudgingly given a few sheets of dry paper towels like they are made of gold. (There are no napkins or utensils or water on the tables to begin with). There are several restaurants down Dyckman street which are reasonably priced and serve delicious meals, I suggest avoid eating at this one.
The service was absolutely terrible! One of the worst experiences I have ever had. Took them an hour to bring our drinks, over an hour for 2 of 5 appetizers and dinner can out so scattered that 2 people of our party never got their food. Do not recommend this place at all!!
First restaurant we go to after COVID. Their outdoor dinning is stunning! The view is incredible, and the staff is amazing. Very updated technology and very cautious with taking the right precautions for COVID. I really enjoyed my dinner here. Every table was at lest 6ft apart and everyone was required to wear their masks when walking around and entering and leaving the restaurant. All the staff also wore masks and some even gloves. Very clean; overall, the service was above and beyond! Not to mention the food was delicious! 😋 not sure about their mixed drinks as I only had their wine, but the wine was delicious also!
The score is more for the place than the food. The food itself was solidly meh, and the coleslaw was awful. The (wet) ribs were overly charred for my taste but okay. Chicken fingers with buffalo sauce were the best part of the meal. The space is well set up and spaced, though the staff seems complacent in allowing smoking on the patio. Great views of the river and the GWB through the tobacco smoke. Its probably a great place to tie one on, but dont expect a lot from the food and you wont be disappointed.
Hello folks welcome all new people new eye balls and new beeeeeeeeeeeeez thanks for reading my post nice huge restaurant here great atmosphere worth the money they have it all family friendly to you can get hit wings fish steak burgers with fries drinks water they even play music here and also great picture moment of the water nice view excellent place to he guess what folks come in down lets eat. Have fun and enjoy your self dont be scared of the plate grab a spoon folk get to the mmmmmmmmmm yum yum so if you find this information helpful please give me a like untill then peace
This is hands-down my favorite place in Inwood. First, the location: right on the water peaking out between Ft Tryon Park and Inwood Hill Park, looking out over the Hudson River with fantastic views of the GWB and the cliffs. The food is all fantastic; Ive yet to try anything that wasnt fantastic. Its not so easy to get good sushi or BBQ in this neighborhood and this place really fills that (very specific) niche. Prices are extremely reasonable, too. For the best value in drinks, order a pitcher!
The worst service you would ever encounter. The front desk took our name and told us there is a wait for an hour even after waiting for an hour they dint even bother to call and were allowing other people to have the table and slashed our names . Second they dint bother to come to our table to take and order we had to call them as we r begging food from them. Third. Even after placing an order its more than 1 hr and and still we havent received our food and also on top of it we called the waiter and asked do u know how much time and he says he doesnt know thats the service. Its just a big no no ........ The management does need not care for their customers at all.
Views unparalleled in the American dining scene. A stunning panorama of the Hudson River, the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the George Washington Bridge, and the matchless New Jersey Palisades! This is all before we arrive at the food options. The Brisket Chicken Sandwich is perfectly juicy and satisfying.Service was prompt and the meals arrived a noticeably quick pace. All things consider this is a high end dining experience. A few flies and other winged creatures may bother you but this is a small price to pay.
This place is located right on the water front so you get great views of the Hudson river and bridges. Very romantic at night if you want to bring someone on a date. Was crowded as the night progressed and had loud music playing, definitely great place for crowds and friends to gather here. Food was great but service was lacking as we had to wait way to long to get out food. Once food arrived some of my friends orders were not yet made and orders were mixed. Other than that the views and atmosphere made up for poor service.
To begin with - host had been rude and the whole atmosphere of place - unfriendly. After an hour of waiting the food turned out to be slightly warmish and of very poor quality. Expensive coffee had been served with refrigerator-cold milk on a side. Menu posted on internet has very little to do with the reality. No waiters: they would announce the number of your table and you have to go and pick up the paper bag with your order yourself. But self-serving restaurant had prearranged 18% tip for service (otherwise the electronic payment wouldn’t go through!)Don’t recommend this place to the worst enemy! The only good thing about it is the river view, but you can enjoy it without paying over $100 for the bad food and having upset stomach.
Terrible service. Before our orders were even taken the staff was incredibly rude to us. It was a bright day and we were moving the umbrella to give us more shade which the manager informed us that we could do, initially. The waitress came to the table and told us we could not. So we asked the manager again and he then changed his stance, said dont move them but, countered that we could sit in the shaded area near the water station. When we did so, the waitresses immediately came back and told us we could not sit there either, so we asked for the manager to return who once again changed his stance when we were all standing there, very strange behavior. We requested our bills without eating and left to head to Mamajuana on Dyckman which despite the long wait was a great time with great food and drinks!
I LOVE La Marina. My husband and I visit all the time, and we always bring company there when they are in town. We dont love the food, it isnt bad, it just isnt super flavorful for how much it costs. You are paying for the incredible views and wonderful atmosphere. We usually go early evening for cocktails over sunset, especially nice on a weeknight visit, and we will skip ordering food there or just grab some light bights while we relax.Weve gone to the Beach for drinks and hookah as well. Depends on the night and time of day, but I prefer it when it isnt as busy, but no matter, its just such a cool atmosphere and view.Service in the past has not been great, but I have noticed it has really improved in the 2017 season. I have had to stand up to remind our server to bring the bill after waiting for at least 20 to 30 minutes after finishing the meal. Although, on another occurrence, our waiter brought me a complimentary beverage due to a mix-up with my original. They seem to have made a note to improve service, although it is not something I mind that much since the atmosphere is so great and staff is still friendly.
First, its NOT, La Marina, the former restaurant that was there. The ambience is beautiful no matter where you sit along the outside you get a spectacular view of the Henry Hudson, the George Washington bridge and the Palisades. The prices are on point for a restaurant with this type of location. The food came out hot and delicious. The portions were big! I was a bit worried when I saw that it was a combo bbq/sushi place.....I mean really? Their sushi choices ranges from the well known California rolls to combos that were names for parts of Inwood. I ordered the sushi it was a Volcano something or other lol! It was filling and most importantly very delicious. It seems like theyre not afraid of trying different flavor/filling combos. The drinks are good and strong and the wait staff very polite. And they are very good with asking you to wear your mask as you walk through the patio or inside to us the restroom. Coming back next week. You can come and be seated or get reservations. Im going back in 2 wks for a birthday dinner.
I went there for oysters and they werent fresh at all but the seafood Tower the crab legs are not fresh so they exchange me for a boil which was better than the tower because it was in sauce but he definitely boiled the crab legs in salt water cuz they were extremely salty it was hard to eat the manager was super nice she tried to help me as best she could but I think they need a new chef..they need to pay a little more for their seafood so they can get fresher seafood the oysters shouldnt smell like theyve been sitting all day #disappointed
This venue is very nice, extremely nice! great views, lots of outdoor seating... The problem with this spot, you never know what type of crowd you will get on a given night (it gets to rowdy).I prefer to come here for brunch, lets crowded and still the same amazing views. The food portions are small for the price you pay -example, chicken and waffles, 2 small pieces of chicken, really?Come here for the views and you wont be disappointed, everything else you are taking a gamble on.
The service was good, the view was excellent but the food left much to be desired. The appetizers were good and tasted freshly prepared but the main entrees tasted over cooked and like they came from the frozen food section of the grocery store. The only entrees we enjoyed were the salmon and off the dock entree wasnt bad. Also, this is not a kid friendly restaurant, so leave the kiddies at home. I did enjoy the dessert, molten chocolate cake.
Best brisket Ive had since leaving Texas. We also had the shrimp tempura basket which was very good as well. The Elotes (Mexican Corn dish) was excellent too. We sat outside on a cool summer day and had a couple of drinks before a late lunch. It was great. We only wished someone would have told us about the online ordering system prior to us figuring it out on our own. Nice place, great relaxing location tucked away overlooking the Hudson River away from the hussle and bussle of upper Manhattan.
Dont get the crab legs. Good flavor but way over priced for only 1 and a half clusters. Spoke the manager about it, she did nothing to accommodate. Had the shrimp po boy. Bread was so dry made the sandwich taste old. Shrimp was seasoned good. Also there was only 4 shrimp in the sandwich. First and last time visiting. Should have left it as LaMarina.
Great place to hang out with friends or by yourself. Sitting in front of the water looking at New Jersey is priceless, the wind touching your face, the birds flying by and the boats. Amazing!!! I have been there a few times with friends and could talk for hours. It is better to go when the temperature is nice since it can get cold.
Yo! I almost dont want to give this rating because this place will get swamped and popular, but this might be the best BBQ in NYC. I know that the pandemic has lessened the menu, but they have concentrated on what they do best. Awesome ribs, pulled pork, esquitas, sweet plantains and cole slaw were awesome! We finished everything. We washed it down with frozen margaritas (different favors for each of us) and found them not too sweet, not too gasoline flavored. We even re-upped with Carrot Cake and another round. Yum!
We went La Marina as a last minute fluke in search of a place to spend my husbands birthday about 4 years ago. I would say typically this would not be a place we would spend a Friday or Saturday evening as my husband and I are pretty low key. We arrived fairly early so there was plenty of seating available, but it was just 4 of our party at that moment. We were able to grab seats on deck with a beautiful view, we ordered drinks that arrived right away and were very good! We paid our tab and proceeded to the sandy area that was pretty empty at that time. There were seats to accommodate a group of 8. We situated ourdelves and we took turns during the evening to go to the bar for drinks. We also ordered finger foods and were very happy. We ended our evening there around 10:30 and a great evening was had by all.
La marina is a cool place, I really like the ambiance and the view of the Hudson is just amazing. I came here to celebrate my friend birthday and the Parking lot was full they usually charge $15 and they told us if we wanted to park there we had to pay double so I think is not fair. Also the server took a long time to bring our drinks and food and he never came back to check on us. At the end the manager came to apologize and gave us a free sangria pitcher so that made it better.
We were looking for a new venue for our annual military ball. This place is under new management and Crystal went out of her way to work with us and resolve an unfortunate circumstance with another restaurant which closed. I am excited with the location and support received so far. I believe our kids are going to love this location and hope we are able to form a long term relationship for many future events as well. I will give further pictures and an update after we actual conduct the event. But so far thank you Crystal for working with us!!!

2022-06-25The view makes this a 5 star place for a date, a party or if you just want to relax. The fried Fish sandwich was amazing while the rest was decent and nothing amazing. The prices are very good considering most places surcharge for the views. They have tons of space, game boards, marina, making a good location for holding parties, where they would bring everything to your table and take the order (from pre-fixed menu). If dining normally, you would need to pick up your meals and drinks yourself.

2022-07-01Ridiculously Overpriced! and The guests do most of the work. we ordered the popcorn shrimp appetizers and a wine and 2 shots, our bill came to $70 not including tips. I wouldn’t mind paying except, they don’t even have waiters/servers. You order your food at a kiosk, then pick your food up at a window then go to the bar to order your drinks. The food selection is horrible! If you don’t eat pork, don’t even bother! Majority of menu items have pork!! But The WORST part… after eating a few pieces of the popcorn shrimp 🍤 I took the breading off and…. The were not deveined!!! I was completely turned off! That’s just complete laziness or cheapness, they thought they could disguise it in the breading which only infuriates me even more. The only thing worth going for is the view, but not worth the price, you can get the same view for free ! People who go wanting to see LaMarina… don’t bother. The only thing this place shares with La Marina, is the location! Save your money!

2021-09-01This place has gorgeous views, the vibe is like you are transported to a tropical island. Plenty of room on the patio for kids to play foosball and run round. The food is great - we ordered sushi and oysters, both fresh and yummy. The only one concern is that the drinks did not arrive. Easy to fix: I walked to the bar and ordered beer.

2021-08-14This was an excellent experience ONLY because of the ambiance it offers, food and the friendly waitress and servers. That stops there. Parking was a nightmare. No valet and street parking was limited. Had to park 2 blocks away in a garage and paying $20 bucks for parking. The hostess that greet you was down right rude to my wife (Not so much to me.) They could have easily smiled and greet you a bit more friendlier. It doesnt cost anything to be gracious. From what I can see...this is a great place with poor management!

2021-08-22I read the reviews before going and two things were repetitive, the poor service and parking so for this review I’ll start with the not so good…First of all, it’s the city. Of course parking may be a challenge. Luckily, I got lucky and pulled up right as someone had left. There is limite parking right by the entrance then street parking. Also, city bikes are around.I read the staff is still training so I understood. But I went when it wasn’t busy and there were too many people to have slow service. There was one amazing guy, the only one taking orders and attending tables. He’s a Great so they better not overwork him. They need another POS system for someone to take orders.Ordering food: so we sat at the area close to the boat house, and the seat selection is free for all. Then you walk up to a stand to place your order and pay immediately. I suggest they order a POS for each table and just let us sit and order. The view: nice view of, great for sunsets. I highly suggest sitting by the water. The food: I’m a love of Mac n cheese. I’m not sure if I was just hungry, but I liked it as well as the salmon roll (weird combo, I know lol). The Price: it’s NYC but I think the rices were fair.Atmosphere: good to chill and hangout, they have corn hole, foosball and shuffleboard. There are red lounge tables and picnic tables. Good for friends to hangout.Area: take a stroll through Dyckman since you’re in the area! This place has potential. Better service and seating system is needed. But definitely recommend making a visit

2021-05-22We came here to celebrate my son’s HS graduation. The atmosphere is so chill and fun. There’s many photo ops around with it being on the water and The Hudson has various seating options from seating at the bar, picnic tables, dining tables or casual outdoor patio furniture. We found the casual dining menu choices ideal and affordable. The drinks were fun varieties but could have been a bit stronger. The music was a great mix of modern and throwbacks played at adequate decibels to allow conversations. Our server was attentive and made sure to check in with our table throughout our meal. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will definitely be returning!

2022-07-08What an incredible place! We were looking for a dog-friendly place that wouldnt be too hot and couldnt have picked a better spot, with breezes coming off the Hudson and plenty of room on the water, a big terrace and huge indoor space with open sides. Food and service were also excellent (we tried all the tacos - gourmet quality). Cant wait to go back.
