The Inn On The Lake in Canandaigua
The Inn On The Lake in other cities:
We went to eat at The Shore on July 4th but were told we couldnt do so without a reservation. It would have made sense if they were busy, but they never exceeded 1/3 capacity in the dining room. They missed out on thousands of dollars from all the patrons that they redirected to the Sand Bar, which is their more casual, outdoor seating only bar/restaurant. There was a substantial wait for both a table and food. There was no formal seating by a hostess so you had to race to grab a table when other groups were leaving. Our server was pretty indifferent to us, but there were no mistakes in our order so I cant complain. The food was mediocre bar food. Not bad, but nothing to seek out again. We got a margarita pitcher but it was mostly ice and only ending up containing 3 drinks. This place is the definition of mediocre. I would not make as special trip to visit it again, but would eat there if my companions insisted on it.
This review is of the restaurant only.It is wheelchair accessible, with handicap parking, and a wheelchair accessible main entrance. There is a lift for the few feet up to the level of the restaurant, and a ramp going to the patio for outside eating. The mens room (multi-user, separate) is wheelchair accessible, on the same level as the restaurant. The view of the lake is wonderful. The tables on the outside patio are under an awning and shielded from direct sunlight.
The location was close to the lake. We could walk out the back door and sit at the waters edge. We watched the sun set. Staff was helpful and friendly! The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. There was a path from the hotel through the par and along the lake for strolling. We were in walking distance of many restaurants and stores. A fun place to stay!
We enjoyed every minute of our wedding weekend there in July 2016! From stepping foot into their lobby, the employees were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Our wedding coordinator, Elyse, was prompt with both telephone and email responses and flexible to our every need and desire. Our guests with numerous food allergies were easily accommodated during dinner and we are still hearing from other guests about how well taken care of they felt amd how delicious the sit down dinner and hand crafted drinks were! Many rooms have a beautiful view of the lake and all seemed well kept and cleanly for the age of the building. The sand bar outdoors can get a little rowdy after hours and draw some colorful characters but the staff and security at the Inn seem to do a nice job with controlling the summer crowds in a discrete fashion. I would HIGHLY recommend their facilities not only for a great place to stay and dine but also an incredible wedding venue from the early planning stages through to days after the last wedding bells have rung.
This is a decent hotel with good restaurants and a fantastic view of the lake. They have lake side chairs where people sit and look at the water and chat. This is a great location to research if you are planning a fancy wedding. Great views. Also, if you have a boat on the lake, they have boat parking.
The Inn On The Lake is beautiful. The staff there are so friendly. The pools are awesome ( 1 outdoors and 1 indoors ) and very clean. The food is amazing, and the drinks are fun! The bars are great, kid friendly at the sand bar, which is awesome! Pet friendly! Overall a great place to stay and have fun!
We stayed in a standard room the first night and it was lovely. We moved to a canal room the second night. We want a lake front rooms but they cant have dogs in those rooms and we brought our doggy. The restaurant there is pretty pricey, but the food is good and the view from the patio is amazing.
We stayed for a weekend getaway, and this served the purpose. On the positive side, the bed was extremely comfortable, and we appreciated the adjoining suite, which had an extra TV and sitting area. The service was good, with polite/attentive staff (although no help with the bags). The Lemon Mascarpone cake in the restaurant was AMAZING, (worth going the restaurant, just for that). Also, the pool was maintained, and the hot tub/spa is pleasant and very relaxing. On the flip side, the room itself felt outdated in terms of decor, and a bit worn--for example, the hangers in the closet literally fell apart when I tried to hang my coat up--but they had signs up stating they are undergoing renovations. The biggest annoyance in the room was the lack of electrical outlets for our phones/devices, and to plug in a fan (hubby cant sleep without one). We were also disappointed that they had almost no in-room entertainment options, and were stuck with very poor quality TV picture (Direct TV) and one Showtime channel!? In 2015, I have better options on my phone. I know that you dont usually spend money on a hotel to watch TV, but we spent all day/evening out, then used the spa and wanted to go back to the room and watch a movie, but there were no DVD players, movie rental options, or even a channel/TV guide.Overall, we think it was overpriced for the experience. Our room had a view of a dumpster and cost $189/night. For that price in the Finger Lake region on off season, you expect luxury, and it wasnt close to luxury.
Stayed here for a work conference. Very nice hotel. The rooms are pretty basic but the conference center is beautiful. The food provided was also very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very nice views of the lake, as the hotel is right along the shore. Definitely a good experience.
You cant go wrong here, many of the rooms face the lake and its not a huge place. Restaurant food was wonderful and the room are pretty nice. Each room has microwave, small individual cup coffee maker, TVs with a nice program selection. Some rooms have balconies and some view the canal. Id stay here again when in the area.
We just had our wedding this weekend next door and the Inn went above and beyond to make sure us and our entire party was taken care of. Lori and Brandi just rocked it!! The beds were comfy, the lake view rooms were gorgeous!! I hope we can go back every summer to celebrate the fun we just had!!
Overpriced, dated hotel with awful service. Reserved two rooms for a week. Reservations made in January for June. When we arrived we found our reservations had been bumped to accommodate a wedding. Had to fight with rude staff who blamed us for the problem to get just one room for the first night. Rooms are extremely dated and not worth anywhere near the price. Sink and tub backed up every time you used them. Room keys stopped working almost every day and the staff said we were doing something wrong. At least three other members of our group had the same problems. I could go on and on, but I know no one will read it. When we checked out, I told them about the problems and they just said sorry and charged full price. In short, STAY AWAY!
I stayed here last night June 22 to June 23 2018. The room was dirty, curtains had something splashed all over it , bathroom floor was dirty didnt appear to be mopped , door to patio was broke and couldnt access to the patio . Couldnt leave patio door open as their were bugs all over outside of patio and cigarette butts . Front desk was notified and we were told to wait and someone would take care of this. Needless to say after 1 hour of waiting no one came back to resolve this. When I approached the desk again I was told maintenance is getting a part however after waiting longer and taking time off from my vacation no one showed up nor did I even get an apology !!!! Upon checkout the women I told that I was dissatisfied never even apologized. Her response was let me get your receipt!!!!! I have stayed here before and feel like quality of this place and customer service Has gone down . Ruined my vacation .
What a beautiful location. Only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because we came in with 6 bags and no one offered help or even a bag carrier. Also we got married there and still paid full price for our 3 night stay. There should be a discount for couples who rent the facility and stay there, at the very least on their wedding night. But it was beautiful and staff was friendly.
Tonight due to the horrible weather & road conditions I needed to get my son a room for the night since I could not safely get him home from work. Other locations would not allow me to pay for his room over the phone and since he left his wallet at home paying there was not an option. The inn on the lake was the only place that understood our situation and helped us out. For this I cant thank them enough! I have always like this establishment due to its wonderful staff and clean environment but now I like them even more for being so understanding and helpful in tonights situation! I give them 5 stars & highly recommend anyone looking for a place to stay to come to the inn on the lake
I do not understand how this business received poor reviews!! I cannot say enough about everyone at The Inn! My wedding was June 2, 2012 and I know I cannot write to the point of how I feel. My wedding was absolutely perfect. My suite was HUGE and was large enough for me, 8 bridesmaids, mom all to get ready and for 2 photographers to take pictures. We had an outdoor ceremony and an outdoor reception, directly on the water and it really was breathtaking. Sarah and Abby treated my family and I like we were their family. They were very trustworthy and beyond accomodating! I cannot say enough about how thankful I am for their services! They really helped me enjoy my wedding, and enjoy I did!! The food was delicious...the bartenders were WONDERFUL, inside the bar and inside the tent. For 170 guests, there was never a line at the bar. They complimented me on my wedding and asked me how I felt and if I was having a great time...who does that! And the reception ended at 11pm (per Canandaigua rules), the inside bar is open until 1pm and the Sandbar is open until 2pm...the party didnt end! I cannot tell you enough about The Inn...they gave me an experience of a lifetime...the best day of my life! Thank you to everyone!!!
Rooms are dated, even the ones that have had updates. Throw some new carpet down and new paint on the wall, but leave those old super flat mattresses, the wide is still in pain. The bar that looked fun in the pictures is seasonal and was closed. Bar inside wasnt packed but only 1 bartender and it was around a 10 minute wait. For being in the $150 - $180 for a non-lake view room, this is not worth it. Maybe the lake view rooms are nicer?? Non-lake view room should be well under $100 a night.
We love going here but the this weekend when we went the rooms werent very clean the pool wasnt cleaned either. the plugs in our room didnt work to so I couldnt charge my phone. it definitely has gone down hill. I think they have let it go bc they are remodeling in Sept and maybe dont care at this point.the staff at the sand Bar were great so nice and helpful.
The atmosphere and service was mostly good, the food tasted great, but the kitchen messed up several of the orders at our table and took too long to remedy them. When they did, we were given items we didnt order and they came long after we finished our dinners. While they did comp us dessert and coffee, the whole affair put a sight damper on the occasion, which was a 40th birthday celebration.
Love this place. Rooms are great, very clean. Love the package. Beautiful surroundings around the lake area. The restaurant meal was great. We had the Filet Mignon--perfectly cooked---culinary quality--desserts were great.! Best Creme Brûlée I have ever eatenWill definitely will return from time to time
Excellent property! Frankly, we are pleasantly surprised based on some of the reviews. Great service, clean rooms, quality food and all reasonably priced. We travel extensively and I rate this place highly and recommend. Shame they are tearing it down, hope the new place turns out well. Great location.
Stayed last weekend, went to lunch outside at the Sand Bar Restaurant, very good and plenty of food. The Inn is dated but I guess that is why they are tearing it down and rebuilding it. The Bed was very uncomfortable but the room was very clean. We did eat Breakfast the next morning at the Inn restaurant and the egg omelette was over cooked and was over priced. Hope the new Inn is better all the way around.
Very nice venue with the beautiful Canandaigua Lake as a back drop. Attentive staff/servers. However, thelocal boat traffic took away from the wedding during the ceremony. There was security and all, but seems like it wasnt as elegant and private as it should be during a wedding.
When my husband and I walked into the room, we immediately noticed the rugs smelled, like it was there for along time, and the room really needed updates badly. The whole hotel really needs to be updated badly. We did like the bar outside though! The restaurant staff was ok, we had a continental breakfast, and some of the foods were cool, not warm or hot. Never the less, we cancelled our 2nd night there and went somewhere else.
Hotel was okay. Great view and convenient location. Hotel was a little outdated and lacking some amenities. $6 for continental breakfast which consisted of a tiny pastry and coffee. Also the free WiFi did not reach to our room so we could not take advantage of it. Also we were there for a wedding and the special group rate was more expensive than the normal rate on expedia. All in all , I probably would choose a cheaper hotel that had some better ammenities unless your main goal is to be right on the water.
Terrible level of service for a family memorial that had been booked 8 months in advance. They ran out of one of the two dishes they offered our group, the other dish offered was the worst fettuccine anything i had ever eaten, they offered free desserts due to the delays and menu outages, which took over 30 minutes and then another 30 minutes to get the check. All in all we were there for 3.5 hours. Should not have happened for a booking they knew about for 8 months.
I referred my family members to this hotel for an 80th birthday party. I thought it would be a great place to eat and have a good time. It took at least an hour to get our food even though it was all pre-ordered. It came out barely even warm. The sirloin was extremely dry and flavorless. Overall just really dissatisfied. I would never eat here again. The buffet for breakfast was also dis-satisfactory. It was cold, the eggs were fake, the bacon was awful and there was no waitress aside from the beginning. The price that was paid was not even worthwhile. Could have gone to dennys for breakfast and had better quality.
My husband and I recently got married at Inn on the Lake and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. We truly cannot say enough good things about our entire experience!!!! I would highly, highly recommend getting married here. For starters, from our very first meeting in June 2013 to our wedding in October 2014, Lori was WONDERFUL. She was always prompt with answering my questions (there were many) and she completely got my vision for our wedding from Day One. Lori was a true pleasure to work with, and by the date of the wedding it felt like I was working with a close friend. :) In addition, the rest of the staff at Inn on the Lake were nothing short of lovely. From check in, to hospitality, to the rest of the event staff, everyone was so nice, so accommodating, and just great people. Again, if youre looking for a stunning lakeside venue in the Finger Lakes, Inn on the Lake and Lori are your ticket to your very own Best Day Ever!! :)
Im shocked at the service from the Canadaigua Inn on the Lake. I was here on August. 4th and 5th for a wedding I was in. Let me say that Im a caterer for Oak Hill Country Club and for another catering company so I was expecting this venue and its services to be more than up to par but they were far from it!!! The whole wedding party and many guests stayed here for the weekend of the wedding and the Canadaigua Inn on the Lake did not offer a group rate!! We payed $200+ for each night and stayed 2 nights. The rooms were average, the front desk help didnt look happy to be there and the service we received during the actual wedding was terrible!! The girl Brandy who was the coordinator left early that day and left her assistant in charge. The assistant had no idea what was going on and seemed clueless!! Our dinner at the wedding was not hot let alone warm. The mother of the bride paid an extra $2,000 to have fans under the tent going and those were never turned on till 9:30pm when the reception started at 6... I had to ask them to turn on the fans... When I complained to the assistant about the fans not being turned on she said, they should be.... Yet they werent. All our drinks at the head table were taken away at 7:30 by the waiters and waitresses yet they did not ask anyone in the bridal party if we wanted to keep our drinks. I had to ask 3 servers just to bring over water for us to drink and they made it seem like it was a big deal. On top of that the bride paid for a bouquet to toss and the assistant claimed she put it on a gift table yet there was no gift table. So prior to the tossing of the bouquet we were looking for the flowers and no one could find them we had to toss one of the expensive bouquets. The assistant claimed she didnt know we were doing a bouquet toss yet she never asked the bride or the DJ. This is something they should know ahead of time. If this is not bad enough they never announced the cutting off the cake and they never served the head table cake. When I complained about this matter the assistant said, oh did everyone at the head table want cake? That wasnt the point... Cake should have been brought over no matter what. When cake was brought over we had no forks and when we asked for forks one again they made it out to be a big deal. They also brought out Burger sliders later in the evening. Burgers SHOULD be cooked and should be warm. These werent!!! They were not warm and were not even cooked inside. The picture below is a picture of my dinner (salmon with rice and veggies).... Looks good huh?!? The ride was hard and nothing on this plate was warm. Im shocked... The only good thing about this venue was the drinks and the view. I would never recommend Canadaigua Inn on the lake for a wedding venue going further nor would I give them my business!!!
Ate at the restaurant. Had to wait for more than an hour for our food to arrive. Nobody told us what was wrong. Nobody apologized for the delay. My friend told the server she didnt want the iced tea because it was unsweetened but she brought a glass of tea and a packet of sugar anyhow!
Weve been going to Mothers Day brunch for years and always lived it. However this year the price went up and our opinion went down. First we noticed poor service. The waitress couldnt even bee bothered to take a full drink order from everyone in our party. She offered coffee and that was all even though our group had several children. I was also disappointed in the selection this year. The breakfast food choices consisted of scrambled eggs and an omelette station plus bacon sausage and potatoes. No French toast, waffles or pancakes which are popular with kids. The meat station was Goff with ham, turkey and beef. The pasta was farfalle alfredo with spring peas. They had salmon with a dill sauce, which was very good, roasted chicken (very dry) and mashed potatoes. The fruit was gone by the time I went bank for it. The desert was great. Disappointed
Went to the Sand Bar for dinner and drinks. Its a lovely spot to relax and listen to live music. I wish there was more variety on the menu but my dinner was good. If you sit near the tiki bar stage, it can get loud so be prepared. Not a good place to eat if you want to have dinner conversation with friends and family unless you sit further away from the music. You can sit on the Adirondack chairs along the water after dinner and take in the view. There are 2 decent co-ed bathrooms plus a few porta-johns but Id avoid the porta-johns because they were absolutely disgusting.

2016-07-19Stayed over night for a wedding. The room was good, just the right size for the two of us and the puppy, side note, dog friendly. We had a standard king size room. The event staff for the wedding were great. Food was fantastic, and the views at sunset will be hard to beat. The hotel staff was very accommodating to all of our request leading up to and during our stay. The beds were comfortable, linens clean, and towels fresh. My only complaint was parking, two weddings that evening made it hard to find a spot when we got there. All in all it was a great evening, would recommend for both the wedding and/or a weekend getaway.

2018-09-02This is a nice resort hotel on Canandaigua Lake. The setting is fantastic, but the rooms are a little dated. However come mid October the place is shutting down for a massive renovation. (The elevations on display in the lobby look great). Im eagerly looking forward to the new place because the service is always first rate.If you get a chance to stay here before it closes, then its well worth doing. If you dont, make sure youre at the front of the line for a room when it reopens.

2017-07-19The waitress was very nice and attentive; however, we had 6:30 dinner reservations and they were already out of food items at that time on a Saturday night. Half of our party ordered the steak special, but just before our dinners were delivered our waitress informed us that they had run out of the vegetable sides that accompanied the steak. So, she offered us another choice of vegetable. Our dinners came, but no vegetables, so we let the waitress know. She apologized and went to see what had happened. We finished our dinner and the plates and silverware were cleared. After another five minutes or so, the vegetables arrived, but not one that we had ordered. Overall, the meal was tasty, but they shouldnt run out of the sides of the special that early in the evening. It didnt appear to be overly busy as there were many empty tables. The waitress did comp our dessert, but it would have been nice to have a vegetable side with our nice steak dinner.

2017-10-20It is okay. We had the standard room, which still has double beds when it should have queens. It was all they had available, because nobody really wants a double bed. And the room smelled musty! The restaurant tries to be fancy, but came up short this time. Last time we went for our anniversary it was very good. When the waitress and host both didnt realize that my pork 2 ways only came with one, I had to ask after I had finished the dish, where was the second way. Neither dish was very hot in temp. I am sure we will go again, because it is reasonably priced and it is nice to walk to the room after a long day of beer and wine tasting.

2016-08-20My husband and I were looking forward to a night away. The lake made it worth while but not our hotel stay. The room smelled horribly musty upon our arrival. We later discovered standing water along the window side of the room due to a very old air conditioning unit that was leaking. The maintenance staff did all they could and were very apologetic. However, the room smelled all night to the point where we had to sleep with the window open (after another maintenance staff visit as it was initially jammed) and a fan running all night in an attempt to dry to the carpet. We understand things like this happen but we were not offered any compensation. The staff were not able to move us to a new room so I at least expected a discount or voucher for a return visit. But nothing!! Very disappointed in how we were treated.

2017-07-04We stayed at The Inn on the for my boyfriends brothers wedding. We had a lake front view room and it was very nice. A little expensive and outdated rooms but you cant really complain because of the beautiful view and your patio. I highly suggest if youre going to stay here you get a lake view room. Everything was very clean and the staff was very nice. Amazing food as well!

2018-08-08Limited menu Beet salad with salmon was delicious. Cheese tray could have been plated in a less disorganized display. Service was attentive and pleasant. Outdoor seating was nice but Im looking forward to the more formal indoor dining experience next time.

2018-06-24I only stayed here for a weekend but I loved it here. Their staff were very polite, helpful and warm. The rooms are alot nicer than expected and i enjoyed my stay here. Their prices are reasonable but not cheap, but if your willing to spend a comfortable amount of money then this is the place for you. Unfortunately i was not able to enjoy the lake or boating activities here because it rained my whole weekend here. Definitely a place I would love to return to.

2016-11-16Nice hotel, right on the lake. The room was comfortable and clean. The lights were a little challenging to turn on. We would have liked more places to charge our devices. We went to an event there. The staff was very nice. The food served at the event was quite good.

2017-08-15We were at a wedding.. The venue itself was great.. Great space great bar great food.. The room.... Not so much. We were in the handicap room. The wall paper is dated.. We had our ac set at 45 and it felt like 80 in there.. We found a used tissue behind our bed. I wouldnt pay half the price to go back again to stay. But the wedding itself was wonderful. Would suggest it for an event venue.
