The Knickerbocker in New York
The Knickerbocker in other cities:
Striking from the outside and in a perfect location for visiting New York. Courteous and professional staff. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to one of the 16th floor suites which was a beautiful room with a great view over Times Square. The room was quiet and the black out blinds were perfect for a good nights sleep. Comfy bed and splendid bathroom with heaps of Dipthique products.
Overpriced, Lackluster Service, Lack of amenities, Poor Value. My stay was disappointing, no food service available at their lobby restaurant, the breakfast was very expensive for a so/so buffet. The rooftop bar was overrun with rowdy classless people, elevators often took very long, rooms where clean and simply equipped.
Staff are very friendly which makes everything so much better. André and the other doorman were incredibly helpful and always ready to support right away. The room is quite outdated for 5star standard but the location is in the middle of Time Square and is easy to get everywhere on foot. Its also good for biz travellers.I enjoyed my stay at The Kinckerbocker in general and could come back upon my return.
I stayed at the Knick as part of a conference. The hotel is very chic and well kept. The location is prime, close to almost everything including subway. This is NYC so walk everywhere and u can walk to tourist spots, awesome restaurants and broadway shows. The rooms are as spacious as it gets for NYC. The only complaint was the wait for elevators. Due to conference events, the elevator had significant delays, very annoying but not worth cutting a ⭐️.Will stay here again if I ever get a chance. 🏨$$$$
We were suppose to stay at The Knickerbocker NYE 2018/2019 but opted not to travel due to first pregnancy. I cancelled all my travel arrangements but completely forgot about this hotel until the day before, I felt physically sick as it had cost so much due to it being a peak travel time,I emailed the hotel to apologise for the short notice and cancel, I had no expectations of a refund given the notice so I was surprised when I received an email acknowledging my cancellation and advising all my money would be refunded in the hope that when we travel next we stay at this hotel. 2 babies later and we fully intend to stay at the Knickerbocker within the next 2 years. Thank you for you excellent customer service.
Just returned from an overnight stay., one of many times we’ve been here over the last 10 years. The hotel has always been impeccably clean. Rooms are quite large for NYC, very modern and well maintained. Staff has always been welcoming and helpful. I’m really not sure how anyone could find a negative thing to say about the knickerbocker. Can’t wait for our next trip!
AMAZING HOTEL. Excellent place to stay. Staff were BRILLIANT. Couldnt have been more helpful. First time in new york and they made it so special. We would highly highly recommend. THANK YOU KNICKERBOCKER TIMES SQUARE FOR AN AMAZING STAY. Only little thing I would ask for is free tea and coffee in rooms.
Positive: Room size was amazing for a NYC hotel. The staff ¿checked in¿ via text each day. Wow! They accommodated us when we arrived early as well as late when our departing flight was delayed. Location was great! Rooftop was lovely! Happily return! Negative: No coffee! Not only no coffee in the room, but difficult for people who really want or need first thing. Either wait for room service, (we didn¿t know it existed as there was no menu or hotel book in our room) or have to go to restaurant and get coffee
5 star hotel?? No way!DONT STAY HERE!!! RUN!!!!The staff service is terrible, they dont do their job.Dirty towels and sheets with stains. No water in the room, (probably as a Covid precautions), but if you call to order some bottles, they say yes, but never take it to your room.Theres a lot of people with COVID in the hotel, but they dont have any COVID protocol to protect the rest of the guests. Probably thats why they dont go up to the rooms. Never again.
The room size is good, bed is comfortable. That is where the good things end. First: After paying $500 a night I do not expect to be charged another $40 facility fee, poor taste and tacky.Second: Staff tries to look friendly but is extremely unhelpful, I asked for an extra towel, it never arrived. In room dining said they would call me right back to take my order, that never happened either. To top it all the hotel is extremely noisy, stay here only if you plan to party 24/7 and sleep is not needed or wanted. The last straw is that I asked them to arrange transportation to the airport since I have early flight, someone was supposed to call me back, 5 hrs later I am still waiting…, Thank Goodness for UBER.Do Not stay here if you can help it. There many better hotels in NYC.
I stayed in a different room each day. Bed sheets in both rooms had huge dirty stains on them....beds didnt feel too comfortable. The second day they moved me to a room which they claimed had a better view but it was barely an improvement on the previous room and I couldnt view the times square junction or the billboards at all, instead had to settle for looking at the mannequins in the building floor in front of us.Housekeeping, front desk were superb and the reason Im giving a 4 star instead of 3. Of course location is superb but that alone doesnt make a hotel 5 star.
The hotel is at an excellent location. The room and toilet was spacious, and the bed was really comfortable. The room service was good and we pretty much got what we asked for and promptly. Our stay ended on a bad note though; we left our luggage with the concierge as we had a late flight and wanted to explore the city. After collecting them from the assigned porter in the evening, we needed to repack our luggage and we did this close to the front desk. After giving us the luggage, the porter stood close by and watched as I started repacking. I was uncomfortable that he stood so close watching and I felt he was waiting for and expecting a tip. After repacking, we had to catch an Uber waiting outside the hotel, we asked the porter for help to wheel our luggage to the Uber. Unfortunately, I had nothing smaller than a USD50 so I thanked him for his help. He replied saying Seriously?, twice. I said I didnt have small change, he said Its ok I have change for you. I really wasnt comfortable with his pushy attitude and what was effectively, a demand for a tip. Nonetheless, I offered him 10 Singapore dollars which was the equivalent to at least USD 7. He rejected it and sarcastically wished me and remarked something else I could not fully comprehend. His attitude was truly distasteful; I appreciate that there is a tipping culture in New York but I did not expect rudeness when none was initially offered. I assume this is not a systemic behaviour across the hotels staff but I do hope that this is corrected in the future. That said, this takes nothing away from all the other good things about Knickerbocker.
My husband and I recently booked a stay at the Knickerbocker Hotel to celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday. I was drawn to the hotel because of its location just off Times Square and a short walk to the theater. We were not disappointed.Upon our arrival we were greeted by the doorman and concierge who offered to help with any needs we may have from theater tickets to dinner reservations. From there we made our way to the guest services desk where we were greeted by Paola, the most professional, responsive and attentive customer service attendant I’ve ever met.Paola greeted us with a smile, shared in our joy to be celebrating a milestone birthday and ensured that the Knickerbocker was honored to be chosen for our stay. She truly exemplified what I envisioned service would be at this historic hotel. Paola you are amazing! Our room was lovely and much larger than most rooms in NYC. The large window gave us a great view of Times Square. It was quiet and included an electric black out shade so sleeping in our comfortable beds was easy.We indulged in the amenities offered by the hotel including the Charlie Palmer Steakhouse where my husband had the best spicy lobster spaghetti of his life, and the rooftop bar where we had Martinis and Manhattans under the glow of the New Year’s ball. As a special treat we were given a beautiful table and complimentary drinks from Paola for my mother’s birthday. It was truly a night to remember. It is my hope that this review reaches many people who are planning a special trip to the big city. This trip was the experience of a lifetime made even more special by the team at the Knickerbocker.I would give 10 stars if I could.
Just about the worst experience we have had. The room had shattered glass pieces that we had not initially noticed. The panel in the room came out. Stains in th carpet. Really really poor experience. The staff said they will waive the $35 residence fee. I asked them not to bother and said will share my experience with everyone. Avoid this hotel at any cost!!
The place is in a nasty horrible location, the rooms are very loud thanks to being right off of time square, the concierge “Erik” was very rude and not helpful at all. The hotel staff agreed to ship packages for us on 11/29. We had to call multiple times to follow up about the status of our packages. We finally received our packages nearly one month later, received today 12/23 and was still charged $50 for shipping. Just not a very classy hotel. We will not be staying at this location in the future.
A nice hotel. Room clean and spacious. Great location near Times Square, Bryant Park and Broadway theaters. Unfortunately, the hotel relies on a poorly run nearby parking garage for its guests with cars. We had to wait *40* minutes to get our car back (Sunday October 17, 2021).
Definitely not a 5-star hotel at all.Bad Customer service, no concierge, no 24 hour room service, food and beverage menu VERY VERY limited, internet/Wi-Fi DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.We stayed in a suite and supposedly was the best one, and even though we were on the 15th floor, we had No VIEW of anything at all. Our only window was blocked by other buildings.Elevators smelled like Gas.Will not stay here again and will not recommended as a 5 star hotel. However, it is in a GREAT location and it is completely remodeled. This is more like a 3 star hotel with a good location.
HORRIBLE SERVICE! DIRTY ROOMS, Would not even give this place a 1 star. Lus and Cynthia at front desk were terribly rude, uneducated and should not be working in the service industry. Treating customers like cattle - this is more of a factory than a hotel. Don’t fall for this tourist trap,
This hotel is so nice. The location is perfect!! Frosted glass doors in the bathroom, bed was comfortable, staff was super courteous, and text messaging room service was a very nice addition as I’ve never experienced that before my stay. Room was spacious. The only thing not so good thing I will say is no one told me the key cards control the elevators from the first floor (which I think is nice for security reasons). I tried twice to get on the elevator pushing buttons before the guard told me how to make the elevator move. I wish the check in person told me that. It’s not a big deal but it was a little annoying. Overall I really really enjoyed my stay. Will definitely book with them again.
As its not my 1st stay, before i was mesmerized with the room and the staff generosity when they upgraded more than visit! This time around the carpet in the room has spots, the wall has dents and paint cracks we had to ask for water because there was nothing in the room and looks like its a COVID precaution but nothing was in the mini fridge nor any cups or coffee to be used! The three stars because the place never losses its awesome smell and for their comfy bed and linens also for the fact that everything in the toilet is dipytique and theyre very generous with it.
The staff were gracious and helpful with all of our needs from questions we had before our stay until the moment we departed. I’ve seen some reviews where people complained that the staff was rude to them and we experienced nothing of the sort. To some degree I believe you get what you give; if you’re dispensing bad energy, it may come back to you, despite expectations. We were friendly and generous with tipping and what we received in return was pure professionalism. These are still awkward times as things return to normal, so there wasn’t ice and the hotel wasn’t operating at 100%, but the staff was upfront and apologetic for the situation and I believe they did the very best they could under the circumstances. My only issue is with the cleanliness of the windows. We had a corner room that overlooks Times Square that you pay a premium for the privilege of. It would’ve been nice if the windows weren’t so dirty. It wasn’t a deal breaker, but it was definitely noticeable. On the plus side, the blackout blinds filter out nearly all of the brightness from the Square. If the windows had been cleaned prior to our visit, 5 stars all the way. I still recommend the Knickerbocker as a great stay in an iconic location.
Clean hotel with decent sized rooms for NYC. It’s right in the middle of Times Square so if you like the hustle and bustle you will like the location. The customer service is great with front desk associates sending texts to ensure your stay is going good. At check in they gave my son some goodies to play with. The roof top bar was OK .. I have been to better roof tops .. the views on this one was OK .. the drinks were expensive. All in all - great experience and will come back.
Checked in to this hotel for my birthday and when I went toThe room and lift the covers there was blood on the sheets, ask for a manager and he came he was acting very nonchalant, saying the dry old blood looked fresh and I asked for a refund and was denied of it, I asked for an incident report and was also denied of that, I had to call 311 and the precinct to actually get a report of the incident. Place is unsanitary and I highly do not recommend
Don’t stay at this hotel. They are very arrogant and not helpful at all. They 0 empathy for their customers and their needs. If you have COVID you will most get kicked out of the hotel and on top of that risking the lives of those around you. There are better hotels, don’t throw your money away.
Extremely inhumane what the hotel did with the 2 people who had COVID, Elisa Beristain, Javier Ceriani, you expelled them to the street without any protection, they were passing the process in the hotel room complying with all the rules and you expelled them . It is very bad human feelings this hotel and the workers who allowed this type of discrimination. We are human and we all go through this disease that kills. God forgive you. the worst image every day we put our city. I will think many times before going to this hotel. I better not go
This hotel discriminate against people with covid, 2 persons were staying there and they kick us out, they didnt give us time to get another place, they wanted to charge 10 days and we decline because the room was too small for two persons, so they kick us out of the hotel. Do not recommend this place besides it was not that clean , carpet was stained and spider webs on lamps .
The service was really great here. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We did have a slight hiccup with some amenities that were supposed to be pre-arranged but the manager resolved it. Erik the concierge was extremely friendly, helpful, and inviting to talk to. He helped us with all our questions and knew a lot about the City. I highly suggest stopping at the desk and speaking with him. We’ll be back sometime and hope to experience this hotel again.
Positive: Location. Updated and clean. Rooftop bar. Negative: Doorman selling private transport to LGA for $80 night before and I declined. Next day he pretended to look for Taxi and then tried to convince us to use transport for $100. He told us there were no Taxis. Walk out and got Taxi in 2 seconds!!!
It’s crazy how in NEW YORK we have people who can just throw people out into the streets knowing they have Covid is inhumane. The two couple that where toss into the street 4 days ago it’s really sad cause not only having Covid but no where to go . I watch there show and they didn’t deserve to be treated in such disrespectful manner. I myself would never stay at this hotel . They deserve an apology .
Great hotel literally in Times Square. No lobby which is odd. Elevators can be super crowded around 5/6pm when people start arriving to the roof bar. Rooms are decent. Not very big but well built. No espresso machine. No ice either. Water pressure is excellent which is not a common thing in New York City. Gym is great. They even have a boxing practice room. Note that Uber and Lyft dont like coming at this location as traffic is horrendous.
Weird hotel entrance and floor in general...cafe is never open. Rooms are nice, quiet and bed super relaxing. Paid for a deluxe room, although right next to the elevators, you hear everything...not the best. Staff seem disinterested and nonchalant. Not sure why I give it 4 stars now, guess Im an optimist.
Terrible experience. Google before you go.Staff is mean and careless. Internet connection is poor and you can’t use your own internet cause of the location of the building. Is really noisy. It’s been many complies about the famous people who stay there and they were kicked out.
One of the noisiest hotel I stayed in, sound not from the street but inside. You could hear ppl talking in the hallway, slamming of doors and housekeepers knocking on doors to check if they could get in rooms in the morning😒 The hotel needs better soundproofing. But the reception staffs are friendly and helpful. And the location is so convenient for everything
Do not stay in this place! They discriminate people with covid and kicked them out late in the night exposing them to the bitter cold without having found a place where to stay! You’re lack of empathy makes me sick! I hope you never have to go through this situation and being discriminated like all of your staff and your operations manager did!
This was beyond one of the worst “5 star” hotels I have stayed. While the rooms are nice, even though the door to the room didn’t at all, the staff is definitely the downfall of this establishment. I will never stay at this hotel again. It is extremely evident that assumed classism played a major role in how the staff treats its paying guests. There were many other concerns that we had with this hotel, but this was by far the most concerning situation that we ran into while staying at this hotel.
Positive: Location and updated rooms Negative: My overall and individual ratings would have been higher if we We¿re not in a Covid situation. For example, access to all amenities which also would¿ve resulted in more interaction with the staff what have added to the overall experience.
I haven’t stayed at that many hotels in America and especially not at that many you could call classy. This is classy and pricey. If you like that kind of thing you are gonna love this. The rooms are great though and even if it’s right at time squares you don’t hear the traffic that much but the sirens do come trough. The room was a welcome place to shut out the noice for a moment. It’s a hotel that carries the luggage up to your room, come and clean once in the early day and comes and peepers the room for the night in the evening. I find that kind of overkill, I can undo my bed, but I suppose some like that extra tlc. The beds are for one also divine. Slept like a baby.I didn’t eat at the hotel, just breakfast once and for that price I have had better. It was absolutely good. And the setting was lovely. It is a good hotel but it is for those of you that want all the fuss and are comfortable with people doing everything for you. It is a great location and they will help you with any transportation you need.
This trip was for my wifes birthday, and they welcomed her with a chocolate cake in our room with champagne! The room was beautifully done, contemporary but not over the top. Also, I dont know about it is about their lobby, but it smelled good! They also gave us two vouchers for a drink at the rooftop bar, which unfortunately we couldnt use because our 2 year was with us, but the gesture was enough. Location was great, we were close to where all the action is. Would stay here again and recommend to friends and family!
On April 2, 2021 I stayed in a junior corner room suite with my family. The windows were very dirty and both the rug and couch had lots of old stains in them. At 6pm I tried to call for more towels and toiletries, but instead of a person I received a recording that everyone had left for the day and CB in the morning. Except for an emergency button on the phone, there was no one! What kind of 5 star hotel is this! I certainly paid a 5 star rate for the night! Horrible!
Nice hotel but service was a let down. When checking in had a few issues with getting the room that we had reserved and was told that we had to pay $50 a night extra for an upgrade even though we didnt request for an upgrade. We just wanted the room we had requested to book... Was just all so confusing with what the receptionist was trying to do.Anyway we got the requested room in the end and the room is nice, clean and modern. The level of maintenance throughout our stay was erratic, sometimes they cleaned the room and replaced used coffee cups and plates but sometimes they didnt replace it or didnt take the trash out.Breakfast was included with our booking and each day it was always a confusing negotiation with staff when we went to the restaurant. The whole stay just felt like a hassle.Pros: Great location, close to subway, nice rooms. Clean and modern.
My son booked a room for 2 nights through Expedia. The tv in the room had local channels only; no netflix no options to rent movies, nothing. There was supposed to be a complimentary breakfast but since their restaurants were closed they got nothing. FYI I stayed at a HOLIDAY INN that provided guests with a brown bag breakfast including a bagel, fruit and a yogurt. The last straw was when my son went to check out and was told that he was going to becharged an additional $80for a “resort fee”When my son question this the woman at the desk said in a very snotty tone well you should have read the fine print. So yeah, 1 star
This is truly a five star hotel. It first began with Andre the door man, greeting us with the biggest, brightest smile. He assisted with our car being valeted to making sure we were able to check our bags early so we wouldnt miss our showtime. After driving for 4 hours it was definitely refreshing to be treating with such care. The staff at the front desk are very friendly as well. The room was very inviting. Simple streamline decorating with a very comfortable bed and pillows. You can also tell that the room was CLEAN! The bathroom walls/shower are all frosted glass. Do you know how hard it is to keep frosted glass looking clean?! Every sill and corner of the room was dust free. We definitely felt like it was worth the money. Weve stayed at more expensive hotels and never received the high caliber of service that we had. The staff really made us feel that they were happy we were there. We will be back!
Very nice hotel. Clean, modern, cool light technology. Breakfast here is awesome and totally worth it. They also have a bar/lounge on the 4th floor that’s nice and relaxing.Location is excellent. Right in the middle of NYC.Just be aware of the pictures online since the rooms tend to be quite a bit smaller than they look. However, we spoke to the front desk and they were kind enough to upgrade us to a larger room. We had a small view of Times Square.I would definitely come back again.
I just got back from staying four nights at the Knickerbocker hotel in Times Square and I have so many great things to say about them. We arrived and the concierge saw our bags and immediately pointed us in the direction of check in. There was a short wait but when we were seated at the desk the agent was so cheerful and pleasant. The upgraded room made the honeymoon even more special. The room was beautiful and nicely renovated. The décor was so up to date and had a great lighting scheme throughout. The location in Times Square was so ideal for everything that I wanted to walk to. One of the most amazing parts of the stay was that even though you were smack dab in the middle of Times Square, it was very quiet in the room. Housekeeping was very attentive and I never needed for anything. I also loved the way that through text I was asked if I needed anything and they made sure I was enjoying my stay. It is blatantly obvious that this hotel cares about the customer experience.
Just returned from a quick 4 day trip, this is definitely the place to stay! The staff is impeccable! The doorman and bellhops are outstanding! They have you covered before you even know what you need! Checking in/ out was a breeze with the wonderful staff. The hotel is superbly clean and housekeeping is on top of their game too. I had several items of clothing dry cleaned or laundered and they were returned promptly and nicely finished. The food is awesome and the food top bar is top notch! My wife and I have travelled across the US and this hotel has THE BEST staff I have ever seen honestly! Good job Knick and hope to see you again soon!!!!
Best staff and service. Got room upgrade and early check in and late check out. You can request every you want through text messages with the staff and the food was incredible. You really feel the luxury in this hote and everything is very high tech in the rooms. Loved the St Cloud rooftop bar and Charlie Palmer. Also the cafe was great. My wife also loved it as much as me and we definitely want to come back. We had the perfect anniversary in our favorite city.
If you want to stay in a very cozy hotel, this is the place. ITs a refurbished place, i think it opened in early 20th century, and still has the roaring 20s charme, yet it is on todays standards, and has a crack team behind. If you order a big beer at the room service, they bring you 2 bottles of Rothaus. I almost died laughing. Recommended and worth it.
The staff was wonderful and the modern rooms were very nice. For a five star hotel I was a little disappointed with the level of noise heard overnight and the views from the rooms. Jakes was a good stop in the mornings, and the roof top bar had great views and cozy seating inside.
This is a complain : My kindel was stolen from our room no 1223 on Tuesgat the 9th of November . Please call me back you have my details . I ve complained and spoke with security but you did not come back to me with an answer.Ive paied about 100 us $ for my Kindle please send the money to my accountDr Ronit Levinger
Great hotel and location! The rooms are modern and clean. Even tho its in a busy location, the rooms were very quiet. The roof top bar is nice and provides a good view. The staff is also very friendly. We had a corner room but it was facing an alley, so the view wasnt great 😕. Overall great stay!
It’s was one of the worse hotel I’ve been.1. the room wasn’t good the bed was super hard and the windows shade weren’t working I had to clim and fix them2. The parking was horrible since they don’t have valet and the hotel parking lot is blocks away it took me a long time to find it since the hotel staff don’t care much about it if I found it or notWhen I ask one of the staff after an hour of looking for the parking lot because the receptionist give me the wrong address she told me well there nothing we can do and walked away3. Overall a really bad experience
This hotel was amazing and the staff exceptional. This was my 3rd trip to New York but I wasn’t enthralled with it until this trip - the hotel you stay in makes a huge difference! They handled all my reservations without a hiccup and their recommendations for restaurants were fantastic. There was a tall man at the door that I called “Andre the giant” he was amazing. The hotel staff we encountered on our stay were all very nice. It has been 3 weeks since our stay and I am still blown away by our stay here! Great job Knickerbocker!!
All I have to say is simply amazing. The amenities are fantastic. Great customer service. The rooms were comfy and everything was better than expected. The thing that blew me away most was the service. Hope was incredible. She is outstanding. On top of everything and catered to every single need. I will definitely be back just because she made this experience great. Shout out to Mino. Great manager of the rooftop restaurant. Thank you my friend for your great hospitality. I will see you in Forbes magazine shortly.
The hotel booked us a room for four people (2 kids) with only a king bed. They then charged an undisclosed cot fee of $75 per night for a little cot.For the heavy price of the room itself plus all the fees and tax this was insult in injury. The front desk promised to credit the here but did not.The hotel is in the heart of midtown. The employers are very nice. The rooms are clean enough but very small and a bit dated. The restaurant is not of good quality. The food was plain. Absolutely nothing special.
Great central location. A modern vibrant hotel with every amenity you would expect from a top hotel. When I encountered a problem, the reception and room service teams were there to help. The speed of service and ensuring their clients were happy, was paramount and I cant praise them enough. A fantastic level of service, which should be the benchmark.
Great location... this is the main selling feature, if you ask me. It’s also clean and modern with decent-sized room and VERY friendly service, it has a high-end feel with the exceptional staff. I wish there was somewhere to wait when we arrived early to check-in (the cafe strangely was closed by that time)... there is a lounge on the top floor but we didn’t feel like hauling our bags up. Generally, it’s a really nice stay that puts you pretty much in the action at Times Square but it still has a tucked-away feel.
Incredibly great hotel! Large rooms and a hidden seating area in the lobby which helps makes the hotel feel less touristy. The hotel has a lot of history which you can read about in a book in the rooms. The rooftop bar is pretty cool too. I would definitely stay here if youre looking to be in a central location in the city!
This hotel is one of the only upscale hotels on Times Square which is a big plus. The rooms are really nice and well designed with blackout curtains a big bathroom and a nice desk. The rooftop bar is quite nice especially during the spring/summer months. The gym is of good size and has most of the equipments needed for a good workout. They have a free shoe polish service which I also thoroughly enjoyed.
Very nice boutique hotel, the rooms are clean and tidy, the staff are friendly. Plenty of amenities and mini bar snacks are well stocked. Bathrooms for the mini room are a little small but thats fine as the decor is excellent. Id definitely refined this hotel to travelers and first time New Yorkers. They have this cool little s survival guide book that gives you some greats hints and tips for the hotel and the surrounding area.
My stay at the Knickerbocker was wonderful. Our room was ready an hour and a half late, so we were offered complimentary drinks at the rooftop bar. Service was fantastic, the room was clean, comfortable and lovely. Location to times square and the subway was perfect. We walked from Penn Station to the hotel, and left our stuff there after checkout while we went to a Broadway show. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great location at Time square. Service was outstanding. Everyone went out of their way to make sure everything was just how we wanted it. We stayed in the third floor facing Time square and the shades made it very dark in the room, the windows were extremely thick and made the room very quiet. The beds are very entry comfortable. The roof top bar was nice as well. Great atmosphere with views of Time square. Overall we would definitely stay there again.
Not sure how the hotel was pre-covid but our experience was subpar this weekend. Our biggest complaint was the customer service....receptionist onsite only from 9 - 5/6. They did not offer valet. When we checked out no one was to be found. I understand the hotel industry is hurting but I never think its a good idea to skimp on customer service....especially at a 5 star hotel. The silver lining of our stay was the doorman. He was very kind and more helpful than the receptionist.
Easy to find hotel at Times square. Quiet rooms offer a lovely respite from the busy shuffle down on the streets. Staff here was very happy, efficient, and took time to talk to our kids and not treat them like they were extras along for the ride. The rooms were clean, very modern, and accommodated a family of 4 easily.
My husband and I stayed at the Knickerbocker this past weekend. We were blown away! The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. They sent someone to escort us to our room and show us how to use some of the rooms features. The room itself was spotless and very comfortable. The only issue we had was when we tried to order room service. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait but had to call back an hour later. The food was excellent when it arrived and they made it right by not charging us. We would definitely recommend the Knickerbocker and will return in the future!
I stayed in a junior suite with 2 queen at the knickerbocker. First thing is that the staff is super nice, caring and helpful, that part is truly exceptional. You feel like they genuinely care, nothing fake or passive that some may sense when in NYC. The room is clean, the shower is very spacious, looks all modern. Now Im used to staying in 3 to 5k Sq. Ft. Places with the kids, but the room felt super small, but thats life in the city and when I was choosing a place this was qualified as a spacious one... so in the city be prepared to squeeze in, space is at a premium . So why not a 5 star? Being in the city, having a view should be a must, but my room had none at all and all better rooms were not available so for the price of these rooms, some view should be had I feel. In any case, its an awesome place, I usually dont stay in hotels in the city, hard to compare to others... in the city everything is expensive, fast moving... you wonder how people can afford to live there... it sure is different and you have to adjust your expectations. Some great features of the city, everything is a minute walk away, super convenient and I always do feel safe in Manhattan walking around as well... Overall great hotel, great stay, being that I have a nice house in Jersey and Im only 40 minutes from the city, I probably wouldnt stay in the city again, this was just to get out of town for one night with the kids... but its like about $1.5k when you add all the little expenses, nothing too bad, but not necessary... I could have shown the kids the city and see what we wanted to see and save $1200...
We loved this hotel! It was clean, quiet, and the service was great. The bed was very comfortable, and there was very little street noise for being right off of Broadway. Our only drawbacks were the lack of a coffeepot in the room and the weird gap in the bathroom door that sacrificed our privacy when using the toilet.
Did not get a chance to try their food or the roof top bar but the rooms were excellent. ***ager Hishan was the epitome of professionalism. Short / reasonable walking distance to several places to visit. There is so much construction so we could not see the building and I know its beautifulhope that is all cleared out next winter.
Very nice hotel to stay in Times Square. Had a wonderful time and not one moment did I or my wife worry about our room or belongings. They cleaned and made our beds every morning if we chose to. And in the evening they did have a turned down service which was complimentary. Hotel room was clean, very roomy, nice bed, and plenty of room for 2-3 people. Would stay again if I could. Would be nice if the fridge was bigger to put some personal drinks or whatever we chose to get while out n about. Overall 4 stars.
Very awesome hotel! A complementary tablet, wine, chocolate, and water came with our room package. Awesome room service, and everything was neat looking. Our view of the Square was pretty good too, you could see the ball drop from there! Only nitpick is the small available refrigerator is full of the pay-when-you-pick it up drinks, so theres no room for your drinks. Just ask room service to bring you the ice to chill!
Excellent modern rooms, helpful but unobtrusive staff, and an upscale elegant feel make you forget the nearby chaos of Times Square. I booked a group of rooms for a business meeting and the process was easy while my guests were happy. Win win. Rates seemed like an excellent value. I would definitely book again.
A very nice hotel in the middle of Times Square. While the front desk staff werent the friendliest, the doormen were great. The carpet in the halls is not in good shape. My guess is that the designer/architect selected carpet that wasnt suitable for the purpose. My only issue is the daily $35 resort fee, which is a scam, but which an increasing number of hotels are charging.Hopefully, one of these days the Federal Trade Commission or Congress will require a truth in advertising for hotels and these resort fees will go away.
Just a fabulous hotel in the heart of New Yorks Times Square. We flew here from Dallas for the July 4th celebrations and it was a fantastic experience. Their bellboys are dressed in outfits from yesteryear and their front desk staff are friendly, speedy and efficient. It is a trendy hotel full of hip, beautiful people. Rooms are modern and contemporary with really cute, large bathrooms with a lot of natural light and white tones. In-room accessories are some of the coolest we have seen in our travels - they strike a very subtle balance between modernist style and the feeling of a bygone era.All in all, a very chic hotel with some minor service lapses that were quickly rectified. The location and the interior of the hotel far outweighed the minor negatives. We will definitely be back.

Good service, great location. Breakfast is tiring on day 2. A bit pricey, but hey, its Times Square. Sign up for the Leading Hotel card (or something like that) and they might give you a breakfast voucher (or three.) Rooms are comfy, with the essentials. The bar is pretty good. The bartender is a pretty cool dude who makes excellent drinks. Ill definitely be back here on my next trip to the Big Apple.
Our stay was very short but amazing. The hotel has a classy look from the outside and a very modern neat look on the inside. The wife and I were in awe. Our room was smaller than wed imagined but theyve designed it so well that its all the space that you need and with so many features. The service was great as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. And the location was just ideal. Definitely staying here the next time were in NYC.
Excited to book this hotel until a construction crew adjacent to hotel decided to use a jack hammer from 6 to 8am and then leave construction site for the remainder of the day. Walked around the rest of the day pounding coffee to stay awake in my meetings. Otherwise the rooms are nice, clean and modern. If you want to feel well rested be warned. According to front desk the crew is doing work next door and they dont control their schedule.
Clean modern and quiet yet in the center of Times Square. I checked in around 8pm and the staff was kind enough to upgrade me to a small suite which was actually quite large and luxurious given that this was Manhattan. Everyone was very courteous and the food at Charlie Palmer’s for breakfast was good.
Clean rooms and an upscale experience in the middle of the busy part of the city this place is mind blowing because it looks classic on the outside but its so modern and chill on the inside and the rooms are bigger than most rooms in New York .I love the fact that they have valet parking but you have to ask for the car 30 min in advance which is not a problem for me because I would not want to drive in Manhattan. The location is right smack in the middle of city and everything is within walking distance of the hotel.I highly recommend this hotel because of how big the rooms are and how well equipped they are this is definitely my new favorite hotel in Manhattan.
Location good but be prepared for the mayhem! Amenities and room size very good. Minor negative for me was service and mainly related to coffee shop and rooftop bar.Breakfast was very average and whilst hotel wanted to make it up to us there was no need as no chance of trying again. Thanks Knickerbocker!
Great position - an easy walk from Penn Station (with light luggage). It is very close to the madness of Time Square, but also very well soundproofed. The world inside the hotel is quiet and cool. The room was a decent size with good storage and a really excellent bathroom and shower. The bed was comfortable. There was a great bar on the roof with Time Square views (start saving!). The gym is outstanding with a variety of cardio machines but a good floor area and weights area and one of those magic vibrating machines.
Very nice location. Very convenient. Since I am from Chicago, the hotel is too crammed for me and the first floor does not have a decent coffee shop and restaurant. Free coffee from 5 to 7 only. I came down around 730 and the coffee is gone. No parking outside, so it is hard to load luggage.
The best thing about staying here, besides the location, is the Concierge Eric. This is not a 5-star hotel. My dinner at Charlie Palmers the first night was so awful, I didnt eat it and I refused to go back. The terrace bar was absolutely disappointing. We had several issues with the room. Most notably, their high-tech lights didnt work. We had to have an engineer come up both nights of our stay. We did not get a complementary tablet and the mini-bar was definitely free. No coffee maker. Their attention to room details is sorely lacking, thus, not worthy of a 5-star rating. But Eric was perfection.
A lovely hotel with an excellent location on the Times Square. Staff is kind and helpful, breakfast at the Charlie Palmer restaurant is great (it used to be a bit pretentious with a very limited offer, but it has improved greatly in the past years!), the rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. I can definitely recommend it, especially if the location is important to you.
Great ambiance with an outstanding rooftop bar. The upscale vibe hits you as soon as you walk through the door. The elevators get quite crowded as patrons go up to the rooftop bar. I look forward to staying here just by the service I received as a guest at the bar. The location is great and is convenient from anywhere in Manhattan.
Very competitive room price for this location and relative newness of the top to bottom renovation. Our room faces the Walgreens where I truly appreciate the hustle and bustle of the people below. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. A very nice hotel to stay in midtown ***hattan, I will definitely go back.
We have stayed here before and enjoy staying here. They could improve by updating carpet in rooms and common areas. They are stained or buckled. Picture is of carpet right on side of bed. Staff is always kind. If you want a view make sure you ask or you will be staring at just concrete/brick walls. If you like hustle and bustle, it a great location. Cute rooftop bar (picture).
Friendly staff. Competitive rates. Dark, modern, sterile, lifeless, gloomy interior paint scheme and furnishings of the lobby, elevators, and restaurant do not at all match the history and spirit of this hotel. This is supposed to be a lively place, not a futuristic funeral home. Also, the zen design bathroom in room looked very cool, but afforded no privacy. The disruptive noise from the service elevators and the cleaning staff every morning of our stay was far louder than anything we heard coming from Times Square. We received a total of three confused phone calls from the front desk during out stay (each time, the staff was calling the wrong room). The hotels saving grace is the location. You cannot beat this location in the heart of Times Square and near the theater district.
We stayed here last year when we were attending an event at the Javits Center for work. The location was great but some of the service was lacking and a bit frustrating. When I mentioned it to a previous manager, she let me know that if they could help us make our next stay better, dont hesitate to call......So when it came time for our stay again this year, I decided to give them another shot. Im glad to say I did. Our stay with them was A+++. The manager I worked with, Titus, gave us an awesome rate and upgraded rooms, and the staff from check in through check out were excellent. I really appreciate them going the extra mile, and I would stay there again, no question.
A stunning hotel with loads of history thats been reimagined inside in a delightfully contemporary style. Very well equipped room, comfortable bed, spacious. Friendly staff, the rooftop bar was excellent - fantastic mixologists. The one small negative I can think of was the frustrating elevators, but this is such a minor thing. Thoroughly recommended place to stay if youre looking to be in midtown Manhattan.
Without a doubt one of the best hotel to stay in In New York city if you want to experience time Square. The room is clean, modern, and spacious. We stay in the Deluxe 2 queen beds and there are plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. It have a Full size closet and sofa area. The staff were extremely friendly. You must check out the roof top bar, the location is perfect and you can literally see the new year ball from the roof. Id say the only negative is just the fact that youre in time square, food are expensive and mediocre. But that is expected. Id say if you visiting NYC for vacation and want to stay at timesquare, this is my #1 choice.
Lovely hotel, awesome location and the staff there are really friendly. We went for Christmas last year and we were made to feel very welcome, all the staff seemed to be just high on life which resonated with everyone staying there. New York is such a special place but at Christmas its 100x better.
The view from the roof is really top notch, especially for non-locals. Ambience is nice, and the feel is cozy but not overcrowded. Bar tenders are most attentive, and provide top notch service; but prices are really outrageous. Of course, this is to be expected for a midtown hotel bar. The bar itself isn’t standout. Go here to show out-of-towners great views of Times Square on a great rooftop.
Staffs are really great. Location is also great and you can walk to Rockefeller center, Empire state building and many musical theatres. Room is very clean, though not spacious, but this is same for all Manhattan hotels. Bed is comfy, too. My only complaint is that there is no small table for take out food to share.
Great hotel if you want to be in the middle of it all. Located at Times Square means your near the action as soon as you walk out the hotel door. Rooms are well furnished and quiet however. Staff is attentive and courteous. The rooftop bar had excellent views. If you want to experience NYC as a tourist, this is a good place to start.
Went to the rooftop bar. OK however surrounded by much higher buildings and couldnt see over the edge, so didnt feel like a rooftop. Outdoor bar is a more accurate description! 18% service was already added to our bill which was poor as we didnt get service at our table, we had to get our drinks from the bar each time. Outside seating is nice but inside is ordinary.
Worst service! The rooms are lovely however it is completely not worth staying in this hotel. The bellboys are only focused in getting tips, they would treat the luggages like trash. Receptionists lack customer service and are not accommodating. Very disappointed, hotels seems to be interested in getting money rather than providing a wonderful stay for guests.
First time staying here for work. Great location for Midtown. Close to Times Square but not too close to be surrounded by tourists. Elegant and understated decor and very nice rooms. I didnt really like the very plump pillows but my work colleague thought they were superb. Each to their own I guess. Wasnt going to detract from a 5 star review.
Great location just off Times Square. Easy access to Hells Kitchen, Empire State Building, the metro, so a great base. Room is spacious and very comfortable. We stayed on the 3rd floor, so close to the hustle and bustle, but the room was well sound proofed. Staff are great, very helpful indeed.
Stayed here 4 nights in a Junior corner suite. Family of 5 the room was very well accommodating to us as far as size . Very clean, staff went above and beyond for us... my wife said the knickerbocker was the best hotel we ever stayed at and honestly we have stayed at lots of hotels. Thank you to the hotel and staff.
The room was great we got a two queen bed room. the beds were very comfortable. we had a room on the 16th floor and couldnt hear the city at all. room was nice, modern. my only complaint would be that nearly half of the channels on the TV were unwatchable due to poor signal. other than that amazing room and hotel and I definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone
The Knickerbocker is so steeped in history, being one of the citys oldest and most fashionable hotels at the beginning of the XXth century (only the outer shell remains from the original building that has not been used as a hotel for 95 years), that only to list its most distinguished and famous guests will take a whole page, from George Cahan, The Man Who Owned Broadway to the world famous singer Enrico Caruso; there are two luxurious suites named after them, both located on the top 16th floor (excluding the rooftop bar on the 17th floor).Having stayed at over 50 hotels in NYC, we got to give The Knickerbocker a credit for trying really hard to reach the 5-star level. There are umbrellas in each room, shoehorns, q-tips in the bathroom, plush slippers, etc. There are additional perks associated with the Junior Suite we stayed at, all undoubtedly belonging to a luxurious property, such as a pressing of two items per day and nightly shoeshine; alas, we were never informed about these during our check-in, and only learned about it from the hotels website. The electronically controlled blackout shutters/drapes are of a great convenience, especially for a Times Square area. And, of course, the very spacious room, particularly for Manhattan standards. Gigantic bathroom with the separated shower and toilet areas. Spacious closet. And, a very good view to the Times Square and 42nd St. Adequate number of by-the-bed electrical outlets for charging your personal electronic devices. The TV doesnt have a Chromecast, so you are limited to the TV programming and on-demand movies only. However, The Knickerbocker reminded us of a great doctor with a very poor office staff. Our check-in was quite disappointing; 20 minutes after the advertized by the hotels policy 3 PM check-in, our room still wasnt ready, and when we finally walked in, a few bathroom toiletries were missing. We requested an upgrade for a Junior Suite so the delay was somewhat forgivable. But, the entire check-in scene, featuring close to 10 ppl standing in line wasnt a part of an even 4-star experience. Moreover, both hotel lobbies are void of any sitting. In the reception lobby there are 3 chairs, so if there is a party of two people checking in and they decide to both sit in front of the receptionist, only 2 parties at a time could be checked in. This creates waiting lines, annoyance for tired travellers, etc. Both lobbies with zero sitting accommodation will automatically deprive the hotel of its 5 stars ranking. The four elevators are good, quick, and efficient. First time you have to register your key by placing it against the elevator pad and waiting for the green light to light up.The cleanliness is good, even though for a 3-year-old hotel, we werent prepared to see peeling paint on the window sills.Secondly, due to the hotels marketing strategy offering significantly lower prices than its Manhattan 5-star competitors, and due to the uhm... specific location of the hotel, The Knickerbocker attracts a crowd one expects to see at a Holiday Inn. The location is good for the guests who are into the Times Square scene, aka the garish, noisy, touristy and tacky paradise. This is fully reflected in the terrible Rooftop Bar at the Knickerbocker, of which we would refer you to our dedicated review.
Great location but insanely over priced, for what we payed I would expect a butler in every room or something. The rooms were clean but very basic and the automatic blinds were just a strange loud novelty that required us to chase down the remotes when we wanted to look outside. Also- the hallways are crazy dark. Whats up with that?
Good place to stay if you want to be slap bang in the middle of the bright lights and bustling metropolis of Times Square. Exceeded all expectations any business OR personal traveler could have with top-shelf rooms, comfort, cleanliness, service, amenities and details. The staff were all smiling, helpful and courteous. The location is fabulous.
Great location but nothing wow or to the standard of 5 star hotel. Staff are not responsiveness as it should be, you room are running out of minimum things such as slippers & if you ask for something it take ages to be delivered to you! However, their concierge staff are friendly & supportive.
We spent a week in the Knickerbocker between Christmas and New Year.Location is perfect: you are close to everything, middle of time square, metro in reach and lot of uber and cab just at the door front.Service is exceptional: never had to wait for questions in the lobby, always friendly and helpful. room service staff is very friendly also.We spent new year on their roof top bar, which is a lifetime experience in itself. We had a premier room with city view. The room in itself was very cozy, with desk, small sofa, large flat TV and a great king size bed (not too soft, not too hard, just perfect, we slept great). Bath was large with wall mirrors and enough space for 2.What i would have expected more is: a bathtub as with the cold winter weather it can feel good to warm up in the evening. Secondly, there is no Tea or Coffee at convenience in the room, neither a boiling water pot. For such a class hotel, this should be part of the package.I would like to underline as a conclusion the exceptional service and support of the staff. On depart day, our flight was cancelled due to storm weather back home. Hotel arranged all to extend our room for one more night, we didnt have to even change. on the next day, due to blizzard in NY they arranged so that we could stay in the room until leaving for the airport. Very appreciated, the hotel did all to help in the situation.Overall, we had a great experience in the Knickerbocker, and we would come back without an inch of an hesitation. Thanks !
This is a great hotel with a beautiful classic look on the outside and new bold look on the inside. I would have given 5 stars if they didnt completely ruin my room service experience. At least they were nice enough to remove the $26 hamburger from my bill. Great location with helpful employees!
We had an absolute blast at the Knickerbocker. Location could not have been better. Staff could not have been friendlier. In room dining could not have been tastier. Can’t say enough great things about this hotel. I wish I remembered the door guys name. The tall guy With a beard. Absolutely awesome person who made us feel welcome to each and every time we came back. Thanks everyone you will see us soon. The Overchucks
I stayed at the knickerbocker last night for a quick trip in the city. I always book my hotels through hotels tonight and have always had my eye on this one. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are even better but the best part is the staff! Unfortunately shortly after arriving to the knickerbocker I started feeling ill which led to a rough frustrating night. I did not know until I arrived at the hotel last night that there was a parade going on Sunday afternoon in which I would have to walk to get my car from valet due to them shutting down the street. I had no problem doing so until I woke up still very sick. I attempted to find out where my car was but realized I was far to sick to walk to the location and taxis were not available. I went back to the front desk to see what my options were. I really tried not to but I started to cry from feeling sick and just wanting to go home. The from desk woman called the manager right away offered me a tissue and a bottle of water and genuinely felt bad. The manager came over right away and apologized and extended my stay till 4pm at which the road would be reopened to get my car. Sorry for the long story but long story short not only is the hotel beautiful but so are there staff. I really appreciated them helping me when I was feeling helpless!
This place is overpriced. Its olright but there are plenty of better choices in the area. I chose this place because it was 5 🌟. The place is tiny. We visited other properties during our stay. Next time we will go to Marriott Marquis. That was less but the hotel is very spacious. True story.
Where do I start. When I called to add additional night to my reservation I was on the phone for 40 minutes and then they informed me that they could not make my reservation due to the computer system was down and to call back the next day.I was called 3 days prior to my arrival stating that I had 11 rooms booked for the first night that was incorrect I only had one room booked.I requested late check in but was called by the hotel asking if I was still arriving the day of my check in, they did have my late check-in request. When I arrived at 11:30 there computer system was was down once again and they were declining check ins and telling guest they had to use other hotels. I was lucky and was able to check in an hour later.Do not use the Rooftop Bar very understaffed and you will have to wait to be served 30-40 minutes.Arrived back in my room at 9 p.m. and room temp 80 degrees. The a/c was broken.I will never use this hotel again and I will continue to stay at the Marriott in the future.
Excellent hotel. Fair price and classy. Staff is friend and dressed in 1920s Knickerbocker theme. Currently they provide some drinks and other goodies free. Great location at the end of Time Square & right next to a subway stop (for 42nd). Bathrooms are nice and modern. Cons: there is only one half window in the normal room but you dont really notice. The lobby is small but nice. The rooftop bar and lounge was not yet open but should open June of 2015.
Stay on the Broadway side for views of the Harry Potter/Lyric Theater. This is a class act with attentive staff, great service and attention to detail. It has a modern, contemporary atmosphere. Its a bit noisy being in the heart of Times Square and could also use thicker black out shades.
Overall, a good experience at The Knickerbocker Hotel. Great location at 42nd St and Broadway, the heart of Times Square. Smallish but comfortable and quiet rooms. Good restaurant and bar on the 4th floor, nice breakfast/coffee bar on the first floor. I understand theres another bar on the top floor too. Check-in and check-out were pretty easy. Security was good but not obnoxious. Rooms and common areas were very clean. A mix of business and vacation guests, but probably due to the room prices, the bargain tourists werent in evidence (thats a good thing.) My N.Y. office is across the street, so its become my favorite hotel in the city.
Stay away from this place!!!!! Especially right now, April 2019! The manager from the front desk she is not very professional and not very helpful, they try to sell their upgrades rooms which is also the rooms are close to the renovations rooms! So you pay extra 45 more and then you got yourself into a next day full of chemistry smell room! They don’t even info the customer about anything about that level has rooms are under renovations! They even tried to hide the fact! Hopefully one night in there won’t bring me blood cancer since it’s serious chemical sells from the fan blow into the room!!!! Also they use perfume to cover the smell when you checked into the room, so you won’t tell or thinking too much! But after a night, the true poisoning air is coming into the room! This is beyond level of lying! I can’t believe that manager still selling that level rooms to customers! Very very disappointed on the front desk !!!!
Stayed at the Knick for the third time, this was the best trip yet. No problems with the service like I had on previous visits, and you just cannot beat the location, right in the heart of NYC Times Square. I love the rooftop bar where I can enjoy a cigar and a drink after a long day of goofing off.
We have been to many great hotels around the world including the Ritz hotel in Paris. This hotel is outstanding for comfort (very modern inside) and for great service. USA Today about 2016 rated this hotel at number nine in their list of best hotels in New York. The hotel did not disappoint. Every staff member that I interacted with could be given a rating of excellent. This is unusual as one would meet many staff members over a period of one week. We were concerned that the location of the hotel was too much in the middle of the action (Times Square) but the place was very quiet and turned out to be very convenient as we tend to walk a lot.As an interesting bonus, the hotel provided a flight of very nice chocolates after the third day. Not sure if they do this for all customers but that gesture was pretty surprising. The one other great bonus is that, in my opinion, the rooms are actually underpriced for the quality and service.Btw, we had three great meals during our stay, Per Se, Chefs Table and Kyo Ya. All three are strongly recommended.
This is my 5th year staying at the Knickerbocker Hotel. Past years I would say that I could give them a 5 ⭐️ review. This year though has been the worst yet. Room was nice and love the doormen. Ordered room service and my cart was still in there the whole day and they even cleaned my room. How can you not remove the cart from our room? Also, so disappointed in the roof top bar. Home of the martini and they couldn’t even do that right. How can you sell cigars and not have a cigar cutter? Bar closes at 12 on a Friday. Is this New York, the city that doesn’t sleep....Just not a great experience this time around and for spending $2100 for 2 night I want an amazing time.
Over all I say it was a very pleasant experience except couple of things. 1. if you go there try to take shower before others do, seems like as soon as room next door turn on the faucet the force goes from 10 to 1. 2. It seems like we had some neighbors that mightve have had too much to drink, We took our 3 yr old and the constant noise from near by room just kept on waking him up all night. Over all I say the room was pretty neat and clean.
Our stay at the Knickerbocker hotel has been fabulous. The hotel is right by Times Square, and is a short walk away from many sights in New York City. The hotel staff are very friendly; the doorman greets me and the servicepeople are friendly. The room is beautiful. Ours has a king bed, and a beautiful bathroom with a shower and bath tub. There is also a hotel bar and restaurant that I plan to make use of soon. I highly recommend this hotel.
Fun, cool spot in all seasons. Check out their rooftop in summer. Grab coffee and a bite at Jakes. And they say the martini was perfected at this locations Charlie Palmer. My top 5 Times Square area hotel and dining experiences. Ps. Be prepared to spend...this place is not for the value seeker.
I love staying at the Knickerbocker--- they are close to my NYC office and, when I can choose where to stay, i stay here. The staff is always warm and friendly and make me feel like a valued customer. My last stay Ula, Fauuzi and Janelle went out of there way to make my stay amazing. Looking forward to my next visit. Leslie S.
Quiet which is great for getting away from the busy times square. Frequent turndown service. Room was very bland and felt a little cheap for the price of the stay. Breakfast I do not rate. Was a nice stay but felt a little sour after asking for a late checkout and got told for 3 hours it would cost me €200 after I stayed for a week.
Went to the rooftop bar for a social event. Food was ok and the service was a little slow. However, the view of times square and the festive atmosphere was fantastic. Since I was a guest, I dont know what the costs were, but it was a great gathering place for a group of 20.
Dont know whether to give this 1 star or 3 stars. there are so many things wrong with this place. It is nicely situated off times sq. the staff try. but quality of rooms, wifi suddenly stopped working, bizarre room layouts, absolutely infuriating and annoying lift. Why is a lift pitch black inside so you cannot read the buttons, which require a confusing room key to work. nice big TV screen. No attention to quality (eg room lock failed, waited ages for an engineer, and moved rooms); battery in the automatic blinds wasnt checked. the free breakfast is pretty basic to poor & stupid. the checkin area is horrible. why is everything dark and cramped? the restaurant was nice and pleasant, except the bar area needed something to dampen the sound - with no soft furnishings you may need noise cancelling headphones !The restaurant area did not suffer the noise of the bar area. Why frosted glass for the toilet area? Why no decoration? Some of the rooms feel like prison cells. Horrible lighting in the rooms.
Very clean, just off Times Square so noise was a concern but not really a problem. Never once saw cleaning staff but our room was very clean everyday when we got back, they must employ oompa loompas or house elves for this. Staff that we had interactions with were very nice and helpful. Beds were comfy, showers were hot and we didnt hear neighboring guests but we knew they were there.
What an awesome hotel this was! We were upgraded to a junior corner suite which was very spacious and relaxing - I enjoyed the modern style of the room and the washroom setup, very efficient if there are a few people staying with you! (you can shower while someone else can use the toilet, both have sliding doors) the tablet was a very nice touch however I didnt find myself using it much since there is free WiFi in the room. Also, free water/soft drinks. Its these little details that can make or break your stay at a hotel - definitely a step above the usual chains. The only drawback: the view. Unfortunately I had the worst view I could ever imagine, some sort of alleyway with a building not even 2 meters away. But thats alright, being in Times Square youll only be in the room to sleep!
For a 5 star hotel the check in process is rediculous. Herds of people waiting in the lobby - you would think for such a busy hotel they would have more people working. We wanted to leave our bags since our room wasn’t ready and the guy was in a terrible mood. Again another line and another long wait. How is this a luxury hotel?
BE AWARE ABOUT THEIR HOSPITALITY - just no sure about their authenticity!Visit NYC at least once or twice a month.Usually stay further away from Time Square.Except I have been to their rooftop bar before in the summer - it is B E A U T I F U L !!!This 4 nights visit, with my daughter and granddaughter, we wanted to stay close to the Macy Thanksgiving Parade, so we choose this memorable hotel! Here is what we love about this hotel:- Close to ground zero of where all the actions are.- Staff are professional and courteous- It is one of the last few beautiful grand hotels where the building is exquisitely designed! Here is what we struggle with:- Aside from paying a premium to stay at the hotel, you are charged an additional $30 plus tax for High-Speed internet; unlimited local and long-distance calls; Access to NY and Financial times (Digital); Shoes shines feature; 24 hours to the Gym; 2 bottles of Fiji water in-room replenished daily and evening turndown service.First, most of the above we dont use.Second, there is no daily replenish of water. You have to call down every day and ask for it.Third, it is NOT FUJI water. It is their own bottled water.Fourth, on one of our day, we were out from 10:15 am till 2:15 pm marking the room to require service and it was not cleaned.Lastly, this is the best part, they do provide free coffee from 5 to 7 am.You decide the caliber of the service to what you pay for and see if this is the experience for you!Otherwise, I always love my stay and experience in this beautiful city!Show lessRoom Tip: Stay away from the elevators as they make a lot of noise every few minutes!Stayed: November 2018, traveled with familyFootnote: Did call down to voice my displeasure after I wrote this review. They did take our $30/night stay off our tab. I have a suspicious the manager who answer the call was not aware of whats printed on the offer in every room either. I did see the person who re-stock the bar come around to every room to check the bar and offer their house bottle water and not the Fiji water to each room.
Not a great place just for a drink. This isnt a review of the hotel itself just its rooftop bar. We did not feel very welcome on the rooftop however. The drinks were expensive and not the best to be honest. The saving grace of the whole thing was the half decent view of times square
Location is the best part. Roof top bar amazing views. Room was spacious enough for the four of us. With a separate seating area. You Cudnt even hear the traffic in your room, compared to other hotels Ive stayed in in nyc. Plenty of cupboard space, fridge in room filled with the mini bar. But we just Sat it all to the side and put our own drinks in it.. You can request a kettle as there arent any tea or coffee facilities in the room. silly little things were a let down. Like the House keeping it was basic first two days even the glasses from the complimentary wine and a plate which had chocolates on it from our first night sat there for two days, then third day you could actually tell the room was cleaned, I did comment to reception about the house keeping after realising what a great job was done on day three. And on day three we finally got our kettle after asking everyday. Every hotel Ive stayed in Newyork youve been able to book a car to the airport, the lady at reception said they dont do that and that the door man would get me a taxi, I asked her if it would b a set fee to take us to the airport she said yes. But that wasnt true.
I stayed here ten days. The TV was not working properly when I got in the room but they fixed it right away. It’s a good hotel with a very nice costumer service. The coffee place and the bar are both nice too. The only concern is here is right at Time square, a little bit crowded when you walk out the gate.
Initially gave 4 now reducing to 1. I see three charges for the room on my card in pending. No, its not for anything else, its for the same room same visit. I am sure it will fix itself but its blocking my credit limit and may impact my credit score. The room prices arent cheap guys. I get it its new york but why would you not charge the corporate card. Service was good and Room was also good. Also you have the access to rooftop with good view.
The room was nice and its right on Times Square. But the service is awful. They lost one of our bags at check-in, did not bother to make the bed (they simply dropped off the bedding) and they misplaced my car when checking out... This was our 2nd visit in Times Square in a short time and we will go back to the Renaissance Hotel instead next time.
The hotel was ok if a little disappointing for a 4* hotel. Slightly shabby, the lifts broke and the fire alarm kept going off. The customer service, however, is disgraceful! We had a serious incident whilst we were there and the hotel refuses to release the paperwork relating to it to our insurers despite promising us they would. They have been rude and slow in their responses. The true test of a hotel is how they deal with situations out of the norm and they have proved themselves to not care in the least about their customers. STAY ANYWHERE BUT HERE.
This hotel is brown, so dark you can not find the buttons in the elevator. After being given a low floor with extreme noise I was moved to a room in the courtyard where I could not tell if it was day or night. A few days and I was suffering extreme depression as there is no sunlight anywhere in the entire hotel but all dark brown with lots of booze in the room. Getting a cab is also very hared to to the location. This is a wonderful place for the tourist
Only went there for drinks and dinner visiting cousins who were staying there. Service is impeccable. Prices were as expected. We ate in the bar on the fourth floor but I could be mistaken on the floor. Starters in the $16 to $24 range, entrees in the $24 to$50 range and sides in the $8 to $20 range. We had an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon for $105 per bottle. Our family was on the 6th floor and you could not hear any noise from the street and it was noisy! A pricey place to stay but worth it if you can afford it.
Great location, fast check in, and intuitive and modern room controls that control the whole room from your bed. The room is on the smaller side, and the desk is especially small, but the bathroom is in great condition and spacious. WiFi is fast (great for video conference) and free for up to 5 devices!

2022-06-30Very impressive hotel in an impressive location. A word or warning to start however about the hotels reservation service, I spent over half an hour while the agent ensured that we were booking interconnecting rooms but on arrival the hotel know nothing about this. To be fair, they went above and beyond to try and accommodate our requirements and upgraded us for two of the three nights. This was really excellent service but obviously our original request should have been noted and honored. The rooms were exceptionally spacious, modern and very comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. Location can not be faulted because it is literally central to everything. Because of its relatively small size we felt that there was a very personal service with all the staff being welcoming and very willing to help. We would certainly stay here again on any future visit to New York.

2022-04-09I stayed at the Knickerbocker for 1 night. The staff was nice and welcoming. Looking at it from outside, the architecture is classic and admirable. The interior had a modern design. When I came up to my room, I was a little surprised with the huge crack on the side of the doorway. It didn’t make the room any less appealing, but it was kind of odd seeing it in a 5 star hotel. My room was large with a king size bed and a couch. The bathroom was also large with a spacious shower stall. Water pressure was great in the shower. The bed was comfortable. My room window had a view towards the street and across was an office building. My window blackout shades however did not work, so I was only able to cover the window with the sheer curtain. It felt awkward being completely visible to the building across the street. So glad it was a weekend. The room had interesting light switches that sets the mood of the room. Room service was nice and prompt. Just be mindful that every check comes with an 18% gratuity already added. Not really sure what the point of the tip line is with that already being calculated into the bill. The rooftop restaurant/bar was a nice touch although they close at 11 and stop letting guests in at 1030. 4 elevators are present which are fast and not crowded. Aside from the the crack by the door way, the most disappointing part of my stay was the food in the breakfast buffet. Even though my complementary breakfast came in as part of a credit card benefit for my hotel stay, I can honestly say that it is not worth it if you plan to pay for it. I think for each person the cost was $42 + 18% with our gratuity. I used my voucher but I was shocked it costs that much for basic food. They had sausages, potatoes with bell pepper, scrambled eggs, some fruits, yogurt, and charcuterie. Overall, the hotel was nice but not perfect. Staff and location are great.

2022-03-20Amazing hotel, nice rooms, great service. The location is perfect, directly at Times Square and next to the subway. The rooms are big, pretty and very clean, you have everything you need. We really liked the staff, especially Betty, Marcel and Chester. Everyone is very friendly, helpful and attentive. You can always ask them for good recommondations. Also, the rooftop bar is really nice with a good view. As we‘ve been very happy with our stay at The Knickerbocker Hotel, we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone.

2022-04-01We booked this hotel for our honeymoon and it caused some mixed feelings. It was a nice hotel with a good location for tourism and Broadway. There was also some issues with our original room and the staff did a good job fixing the issues and upgrading our room. However we booked it with a certain amount of restaurants and perks that, due to covid we did not get. And the services we did get were pretty standard compared to the hype. Overall it was a nice price compared to other hotels in the area. But I feel like its not a place I would tell people they HAVE to stay at if visiting.

2022-05-21This hotel is very mediocre for business travel. The rooms are clean but old, the elevators busy and congested. The rooms are not very soundproof so you constantly hear people and doors closing in the hall. The location right in Times Square means that it’s always extremely noisy with people and sirens outside, the lights are very bright. There isn’t really a workspace in the rooms, just a tiny side table that only kind of works as a desk, and the beds are kind of hard with uncomfortable pillows. It was hard to sleep well there with the light, noise, and lack of cushion. The staff are just ok - they’re not especially attentive, don’t really hold doors for you, etc. It’s very hard to reach the in room dining staff and I was unable to place breakfast orders the night before. The one night I was able to place an order they forgot to deliver it the next morning and I had to call to remind them. The food wasn’t great. There are other nicer options in the area so this works in a pinch, but I wouldn’t choose to stay there again.

2022-01-27This is a great hotel in New York City. While the rooms are not inexpensive, they are superlatively furnished and laid out, and the staff is wonderful. Brandon and Cynthia were at the check-in desk and were most gracious, warm and very accommodating. The location is great, right on 42nd Street close to Broadway, and the noise level from the street was nonexistent. We will definitely stay there again.

2022-06-08My wife and I spent four nights in early June 2022. The location cant be beat if you want to be in the heart of NYC tourist spots. Also being so close to the Times Square subway station was a big plus for getting around easily. The hotel is beautiful and the room was quite comfortable. We were on the 12th floor and the street noise was not a problem. The rooftop bar was also enjoyable. I expect well be staying there again.

2022-03-22The first morning my wife put on the bathrobe and found used lipgloss like the robe had not been washed. The TV ordering system does not work and you will need to call to get your complementary water. Breakfast was good, and the hotel is nice. Our view of Times Square was non existent and disappointing that we spent extra for the view.

2021-12-27Positive: Huge room (especially for NYC) - super comfortable, clean & modern, fabulous bathroom, great design. Fantastic staff - really helpful & efficient. Amazing location - right by Times Square but no noise problem, quiet inside. Beautiful roof terrace/bar. Negative: One small thing - would have liked a kettle/tea & coffee making facilities in the room but to be fair, I didn¿t ask if they could provide one so maybe they can?

2022-02-06Stayed here during a business trip to NY. The service was everything but 5 star! If you’re able to opt for other options in the 5 star category please go with a stay at the St. Regis or something of the sort. The location is prime, with most things in walking distance. It would appeal especially to tourists sitting right in the middle of Times Square. That’s about the only pro. Stayed here for 4 nights, room service was a hassle to order each day. The front desk barely ever answers the phone, and everyone seems to be working at half pace. Room Service was particularly upsetting when asked to forward me to the room service manager, who responded by abruptly hanging up the phone after finally admitting to having forgotten my order twice(Yes, I had to place it twice and never received anything). Not to mention, I waited an hour before a flight out hoping I could receive food in the comfort of my room. Ah well! Flight on an empty stomach!Would not stay here again. Terrible service and experience for the price. Oh! The faucet water was brown for about two days. Enjoy!
