My stay at the Leo House was absolutely amazing! Rooms were very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The location is perfect, right on the c/e train and in a lovely part of Chelsea. Loved the front desk staff as well! Marilyn was lovely!! Will definitely stay again!
The Leo House is a great cozy hotel! The location is certainly what convinced me to stay here, you are steps away from de C-E metro line. Chelsea is a beautiful neighborhood with great restaurants, shops, and amenities. The hotel is clean and rooms are spacious (for NY standards) and very well furnished, beds are comfy, the bathroom is clean and the showers, although shared, are also perfect. The staff is very nice and helpful and breakfast is simple but good and tasty.Overall a great experience! With definitely go back on my next trip.
The TV and internet were out in the room. Each room has a separate router. They were in the midst of setting up the new router. A Verizon representative came the day after we checked in. They were still fixing it when we returned so they moved us to a different room. The TV controls didnt work either. The heater valve was loose. The shower on the other floor had no head.
For the price in NYC it was perfect only 97 for the night and we were only there to sleep because we were waking up early to see the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. There was one older woman working the desk and she was pretty rude, one thing I thought was odd was when checking in the reservation was under my name I expected they would need my id, but my boyfriend who is also 18 only had his college id which normally works as an id for him at places, (he has not been able to get his license or a state id because of covid). So we had to contact his dad to email the hotel a picture of his passport, but if we did not get that we were not going to be let into our room which I thought it is strange they needed a government id for everyone staying there. I felt really safe in the Leo House, it was in a nice area and a convenient subway ride to where we were watching the parade in Central Park. One reason why we picked the Leo House is because we are 18 and not many hotels in NYC let 18-20 year olds check in. Our room was nice it was weird though our bed was two twin beds pushed together and there were some patched up holes in the wall but the room was very clean. We did not need to shower when we were there because it was just for a place to sleep, but take not most rooms do not come with a shower and you need to take a shower in the communal shower in the hall, but all rooms have a toilet and sink. We couldnt stay for breakfast but I heard it was good. Overall I would come back to the Leo House.
Dont stay at the Leos House Hotel. Worst experience! My room was same temperature as outside!!! The staff looked at the heater and told me it was fine. Next day, when I told them it was not fine, they did not care. No apologies. No offers of refund for a night in a freezing room. No offer to move me to another room No refund when I was forced to leave their hotel 2 nights early. This place should be shut down for by the board of health!
Entering the hotel felt like I traveled back in time 30 years. I chose a double room with a private ensuite bathroom. My room was dusted, clean and the bed was comfortable. The Television only had antenna channels. Which I was fine watching TV Land, ME TV, Laff, PBS etc....after a bysy day sight seeing. The staff I encountered were not rude. Sometimes I was the first to say Good morning or Hello and I recieved the same reply back from the staff. The breakfast they served was plentiful and kept me full until it was time to eat dinner. Also the Subway entrance to the C and E line is a 5 minute walk. This is a perfect choice as a straight foward budget hotel.
Stayed here for a few days. avoid!!! So many things make this experience a bad stay. The front lady is incredibly rude and mean to all customers. Horrible first impression. She is like that with everyone. Terribly rude person. They require a $100 security deposit on your credit card on arrival which no other hotel requires. You have to leave your room key at the front desk every time you leave the hotel and then pick it up afterwards. The wifi is very slow everywhere. They have terrible single-ply toilet paper. The showers are shared across the whole floor. Much of the place isnt newly renovated and has chips on the walls, floors etc.
🙂 The room is clean, it has the minimum for you to live for a short stay in Manhattan. The hotel location is very good and there is breakfast!😕 The service is not that good, I had to wait for a long time before I can check in and have my room, I witnessed many problems with other clients ( I don’t know the details ). Wifi is very very slow in the room, you have to go to 2nd floor to get an acceptable connection. The shared bathroom is not very comfortable.
I don’t want to give them even one star. Front desk is extremely rude. All of employee here. First, check-in time is 4pm. I arrived early to the airport and called the front if I can get early checkin. The woman in the phone said yes so I came early. Then the front changed to say that I have to be on time at 4pm. If I have known that I wont come here early, spending times outside. Second, they charge additional 100 bucks for deposit. I am not sure I can even get those money back. Third, the front desk (mid aged white male, and old African american woman) are all SUPER rude. Hair dryer isnt in the room as expected and they requested me to get the dryer everytime I need it with wet hair. They have also weird rule that everytime I get out the key should be returned. They claim they are “catholic” hotel Is this rule from “Catholic”? really? No refund as expected. Just avoid.
I was very pleased with my stay in Leo House, NYC. The location is excellent, in the middle of Manhattan, but still a nice and quiet place. The room was very clean and the staff very kind and helpful. Especially, I found that Michael Lucci at the front desk was extremely serviceminded, as he helped me with several complicated things in the middle of the night, among other things. I can highly recommend The Leo House!
I enjoyed my stay at Leo House! Michael was very welcoming and informative at check in. He secured my luggage, which allowed me to spend time in the chapel. My room was PERFECT! Great location, close to buses, train, and Times Square. There’s morning mass and continental breakfast served by gracious staff members. Thanks Leo House!
Customer service is rude and gets frustrated easily when asking for clarification. I simply asked what the reasoning behind why there is no refund when booking with discount pricing. I do understand that I won’t be getting the refund I just wanted to know why it is that way (because Lowkey makes no sense). I haven’t even stayed at the hotel or used their services and just because it’s discounted they have the right to take my money?? I don’t get it and I simply and kindly asked why that is and she got short and frustrated with me and cut me off and yelled at me. Phone staff need training on answering phones because you signed up for this job and if this place doesn’t hold their staff to a standard then how can you provide a good experience. Do not book unless you absolutely have no options. You would think a catholic run “hotel” (more like hostel), would have kind and understanding staff but this wasn’t the case. DONT BOOK
I’m sure it’s a wonderful hotel with good staff. I would just be mindful of their no refund policy. Especially during this pandemic of when lots of events are getting canceled/postponed because of the uptick of Covid cases. I wanted to stay in NYC for the weekend because there was a concert but it was postponed until October 1st. I was able to push back the activities I had planned and I got credit from JetBlue for a new flight but because of the more ridged policies at this hotel I wasn’t able to do that and had to pay a $150 cancellation fee. Which is fine you live and you learn haha. But just be careful at this time when making reservations. But the woman on the phone was very kind.
My friend and I spent 7 nights here and we were so incredibly grateful for choosing Leo House. They boasted the safest place to stay in New York as they take your key when you step outside. Made sense to me...we would decide what to do that day over breakfast and wouldnt come back until the evening, unwind in the garden, go to bed and do it all again the next day. We checked out the more up-scale hotels and decided we wouldnt leave our room! Lol And that little garden in back was so appreciated after a day in the concrete jungle. Safe neighborhood too! I dont think I would stay with small children though. The rooms are small and very minimalist. Staff were great and helpful! We went to NY to explore and that is exactly what we did - Coney Island, Cloister Museum, The Bowery, 2 Broadway shows, China Town, Little Italy, Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and all points in between...we took a cab once. The rest was walking or the subway. I guess one has to decide why they are in New York in the first place 😁
Leo of House and its Board and Chairperson are no more than abusive thieves. They stole thousands of dollars from innocent travelers from overseas during the period from the 23 March 2020 to 1 June 2020 when their establishment was in lockdown. Nobody could stay, their doors were closed. They did not refund this money when they didnt even provide a service. But they stole this money from people like me a pensioner who had planned a trip of a lifetime. Not to have 10 days of accommodation returned to me, when they didnt provide the service, is a crime NOT A SIGN OF COMPASSION. This is totally disgusting behavior which is becoming so familiar from yet another Catholic practice.PLEASE DONT SUPPORT an organization like this. There are plenty of other places in NY that would have a conscious and provide you with service.
I had a wonderful stay. The hotel is near a subway station where you can take subways to a lot of places. The staff is really nice.My single bedroom with private bathroom was bigger than expected and the bed was comfortable. The bed was made and new towels were given everyday.Everything was great except there are some repairs at the moment which woke me up almost everyday.
Giving a neutral rating because we only popped in to access the Little Free Library to exchange a book. I wanted to leave a review to inform possible visitors of the existence of the Little Free Library inside -- the folks at the desk were so gracious and kind and pointed us right to it. The library is much larger than what a single box on a pole (how Little Free Libraries usually are) can hold and sports a section in languages other than English. Our experience using the Little Free Library was such that we are sure to return as guests to the hotel.
I have tested positive for COVID-19 and informed the hotel of this. They will not refund my stay. Before booking, you should know that they are 100% okay with COVID-positive guests staying in their hotel, and in fact, they actively encourage it by refusing to provide refunds. I booked my stay before the Delta variant came to the US and before I was diagnosed with COVID, but its MY fault for booking knowing what is going on in the world.
By far, the worse hotel I have ever been in. The photos are absolutely false, the hotel is basically falling apart. No PRIVATE BATHROOM, you share bathroom with the entire floor. We left immediately and they refused to give us our money back. Just one advice: Before you pay for the room and give them your credit card just ask them to show you the room first. Once you see the room, youre gonna run away from that place, trust me. Terrible experience 😡
Staffare friendly and nice like a familyLocationis amazing . Next to every thing . Yet quite area, safe and niceRoomIs small but sufficient, no fridge or kettle. But really clean and they change towles if you ask to.the shower is outside but a toilet in the room is a very good.
Overall a poor quality hotel. I booked the hotel 2 months ahead of time, due to a change in my business meetings, I had to change the dates of my stay. I booked a 4-night stay from Tuesday to Friday, I wanted to change to a 4-night stay from Monday to Thursday. The hotel refused to accommodate this change. I checked out early because I no longer need Thursday night, and refused to refund money for the last night which I didnt use.Hotel rooms were outdated and poor, my room did not have A/C and the heater was not manageable manually. Bathroom and shower were also outdated, water pressure was not up to par, and the tap water tasted disgusting, not what at all what I have had in NYC. The windows were difficult to open, and it was very loud to sleep comfortably with a street view. You had to turn in your key when you leave the hotel, which is something I dont understand. I didnt feel comfortable leaving my hotel room, and then giving the front desk the key. Felt weird that someone else has the key to your room with all of your personal belonging in it.I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, not a good neighborhood, and their staff is very unfriendly and not helpful.
Amazing value for low budget! Very friendly staff! When I looked for a room in New York the only other places for this cost have been hostels. Here I had my own bathroom for about 70 USD per night. Yes, the room and bathroom were old, but very clean. The bed was super comfortable and the AC worked. It is a catholic place and no breakfast on Sunday. Knew that before and was absolutley fine with it. Thanks for keeping that nice place alive and offering for low budget.
One of the most affordable places on the area. We were positively surprised after reading some of the reviews here!+great location, not in the busiest area but close to it+clean rooms+cozy, home-like atmosphere, if you are not particularly after luxury accommodation+very friendly staff, talkative guy at the reception always asked where we are going today and gave us some useful tips for our daily adventures+even shared shower was clean and comfortable to use, we never needed to queue to the bathroom because they had several available on the same floor.-a bit noisy, you can hear the traffic from the street next to the hotel - luckily there were earplugs available for free at the room-breakfast is very basic and for europeans the buffet seemed to be overpacked with unhealthy stuff like white bread, sausages and cakes. We still appreciated the breakfast though, for this price it was a good plus!We liked it there and would definitely visit again if they are able to keep these prices in this insanely expensive city.
Very unfriendly people!!! They didnt give us a discount, refund or the change to visit the hotel again after the Covid situation. We had a booking in May 2020, but it was canceled because we couldnt visit America due to Covid. Very unhelpful, so really don’t recommend to visit this place.
Horrible front desk, ESPECIALLY the manager!! Horrible service and everything. VERY Rude people, NOT HELPFULL AT ALL !!! DO NOT make any reservation with them!!! They will try to rip you off!! Save your money!!!!! they charged me not even one month away from my booking and wont refund me back!! They are very aggressive and wont care at all!!! I am very disappointed and sad because I wanted to take my wife on vacation and they stole my money and now I cant afford anymore to go anywhere!!!
My mom and I wanted to do a quick overnight trip to NYC, but every hotel (and AirBNB) was so expensive! I dont even remember how I found The Leo House, but the price was even cheaper than a lot of AirBNB options, *and* had more privacy, AND came with a free continental breakfast (almost unheard of in NYC)..I also think its so neat that they offer a huge discount to any clergy staying there (I cant remember, but I want to say it was half off). Also, because it is Catholic-run, they had free rosary beads for anyone to take. Im not Catholic, but I thought that was a really nice offer they just have out by the front desk..As for the room itself. Yes, it is small. No there are not showers in the room. The beds felt smaller than normal (but were comfy), and our room did not have AC units. (we went in Nov so maybe they do in the summer?) But again, the price was right and was perfect for what we needed. Oh! And all of the staff was amazing - the guy who checked us in at night was still there in the morning and even remembered my name! It felt like small town culture in the middle of a giant city..If youre looking for a luxury hotel, this is most definitely not the place. But if you want something that is affordable, does the job, and has a great staff, The Leo House is great and I highly recommend it.
This place is a scam, read the fine print. My event got cancelled due to Covid and these guys have no consideration at all. My event is cancelled and they say screw you, you have to pay for all nights. Terrible cancellation policy and terrible customer service. Avoid at all costs.
Staff was super; room was immaculately clean - twin bed that was comfortable. Security safe in closet for valuables. Quiet. Buffet breakfast available for purchase in morning at reasonable price. Location cannot be beat in Chelsea. Quiet and safe. Cost was exceedingly reasonable. Windows in room opened plus there was a working air conditioner that wasnt needed. Fine neighborhood. Would stay there anytime.
Very nice staff and clean rooms. Hearty breakfast and really great location. Only 10 minute of walk to Madison Square garden. Metro station at 100mt. Quiet rooms (I recommend those with private bathroom). It is a structure with a religious background. WiFi Is ok! Highly recommended!
Great, hospitable Catholic Guest house right in the heart of Chelsea, close enough to everything. Great walking access. NIce, clean rooms with well functioning bathrooms. Stayed here with a friend and we had a spacious room that suited us well. AWESOME RATES for the area. Would definitely stay here again, especially if alone. Staff was friendly and helpful. MIchael, the concierge was very friendly and welcoming. Our talk when I arrived changed my whole trip for the better. Only downside here is that there is only one key to a room that must be left at the front desk. So this makes coming and going with multiple roommates difficult.
ADDITIONAL $100 DEPOSIT REQUIRED.Only for certain guests I presume. I booked through a 3rd party app (Agoda), and when I got there they tried to charge me a $100 deposit which was no where to be found in the booking details, in addition to the cost of the stay. They charged me the $97 for the stay and refused to give me a refund even though I left -- and were BLINDINGLY rude about it. AVOID.
I have had the good fortune of finding Leo House twenty years ago. It is a superlative Hotel with the friendliest and most outstanding staff. From the Desk Agents, Housekeeping, Cooks, Dinning Room Staff, Reservations Staff, and Maintenance Staff all receive a 10 out of 10 rating from me. I have never been disappointed with their above the call helpfulness in not only accommodations but especially in being gracious in all ways to a weary traveler. I do not believe there is a better hotel for the reasonable price than Leo House.
Very clean rooms. The wonderful staff is TOP notch! They were very kind and accommodating after my neck surgery last month.Thank you to the wonderful people at The Leo House Hotel. This establishment is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at. Very reasonable prices & great location. Thanks again for a quality stay, worth every dollar!
The Leo House is run by a friendly and helpful staff. The building has a lot of historical charm. The kitchen staff makes the best hot cocoa and chocolate chip bars which can be found in the lobby in the afternoons. The room rate includes a hearty breakfast bar 6 days a week. Breakfast seeding his family style so guess can meet each other. The business center provides computers and internet, and there is also a snack room. The location is excellent, as well.
The place is run by good natured people who try their best to make your stay comfy and nice. I like the ambience, old world but chic and modern at the same time. The amenities are okey for tourists who will only stay in their rooms to sleep. It has areas where you can relax and a chapel to nourish your soul. The vending machines have cheap sodas way cheaper than that of other hotels and snack bars that will surprise you regarding cost. Free juice and cookies awaits you in the lobby.
Great staff, always nice even have free lemonade and fresh baked cookies in the lobby for guests. Rooms clean and daily cleaned. Bathroom bit out dated. Th 2 headlights above the bed are really enoying tho... view to the outside view is great, and even with a hot time ur room is cool because an airco. Would recommend!
Building is old and run-down, wifi is sketchy at best. Bathrooms could be also be cleaner. In the summer it is hard to get sleep because you have the choice between heat and humidity on the one hand or the rattly, noise-making A/C unit on the other hand (which, by the way, also prevents one from closing the curtains so that no light comes in). Dont except hotel amenities. Positive point: no bedbugs, breakfast was decent, as was the location. I would highly recommend you to spend more money if possible, or, if you spend more than 3 nights in NYC, to find a place to sleep that is a tiny bit farer from downtown. Youll get there quickly by subway.
Leo house is a Catholic guest house. As a completely non-religious person this was a concern. There was however no proselyising whatsoever and aside from churchy decor and a cross in the room it was a total non-issue. The staff and executive director were very friendly and helpful. The place is dated but was the room was clean and had a window air conditioner. Our room had its own bathroom although I understand some do not. The only issue was the shower temperature fluctuated wildly from very cold to literally scalding. Overall however, we spent little time in the room and it was a good value considering the price and location.
Beautiful, sweet & amazing staff. Clean, traditional, minimalist rooms. The rooms are not the strongest point of this property, really but cleanliness is near to Godliness which, by the way-is what its all about at the Leo house. A Beautiful Chapel is one of the strong points with the property, with daily mass services. Interesting little nooks & crannies are other strong points of the property. Areas to relax in surrounded by art indoors or outside in the courtyard. And last but most CERTAINLY NOT least?.. they have an AMAZING breakfast. It felt more like a Bed & Breakfast than an (economical) hotel. Ive never shared a shower before but all of the other perks almost made up for it. There is however; a small, basic- but clean- private half bath in the rooms. A great spiritual, quiet & homie retreat from the bussle of NYC.
Best value in Manhattan. From JFK the E subway brings you to within 50 meters of the entrance. About a 10 minute walk to Penn Station. Terrific Japanese restaurant between subway entrance and hotel. No city taxes because its a non-profit and a decent free breakfast. A charming place and terrific value.
Stayed here many times and hopefully again. Staff could not be friendlier. Got smiles and a warm welcome. If Michele is cleaning your room give her a hug from Martin and her boss Kesha. They will print your boarding pass for you. Now it is not a luxury hotel but I was there for 9 show in 6 days so I slept and showered there. Hope you have fun
When I stayed there it was run by german nuns, as a non profit organisation to help a home for the elderly, which was in the same building on the other side. The rooms where less expensive, and the service was really, really swell.Honestly, at that time, at that place in the middle of Chelsea, there was nothing, u could find which was better. The breakfast was a sensation because the nun baked German bread, which was really good...I always wanted to come back but it never worked out, because they are always booked.
My daughter and I stayed 2 nites in Dec of 12. The desk staff were sl. stiff, but not rude or unpleasant. Just not terribly friendly. Rooms were clean, warm, quiet. I felt that the prices were sl high, for the accomodations, but isnt everything in NYC? I will stay again, when I need a room in the area. I did like the Christian feel and look of the interior. Have pictures and other Christian images around. Just a nice place. Very basic. Didnt get to have bkfast, but was told it is very good. I will, and have recommended it to others. Trying to get a room right now. They are booked up way ahead. Not sure how we got the Dec. rooms, as I reserved just a couple of weeks before.
I LOVE THE LEO HOUSE! Very friendly staff, Very clean & VERY inexpensive! I enjoyed my stay there the last time I was in NYC. Its in Manhattan, not far from Madison Square Gardens, in fact I walked by it every day I was there! Subway is really close, I mean just yards away! Want to go again & see more of the sites! When I was there I saw my very 1st Yankees game! Visited a ton of art galleries! Walked through Central Park several times. Saw Little Italy as well as China Town. Visited Time Square numerous time. Saw the Empire State Bldg, Grand Central & took the tour of Ellis Island. The Ellis Island Island tour really helped me understand more of what my great grandparents went through to be allowed to come into America! I also saw Ground Zero & was fighting back the tears. I cant wait to go to NYC again & definitely will stay at The Leo House!
Horrible front desk employee (older female African American) when we had a problem with our booking we were screamed at and verbally assaulted. Rooms are decent however I would not recommend staying here as staff is unhelpful and rude to their guests. The front desk employee has a bad attitude I dont understand how this employee is still employeed here.
We stayed in the Priest Quarters (not available to the general public) so our stay here was fantastically unusual. We got the 5 Stars stay because reservation peeps unintentionally double booked our room so, to avoid any inconveniences, they booked our entire stay in the Priest Quarters at no additional charge. Great customer service if you ask me!!Overall, The Leo House is a great place to stay. Its location (felt casual and not so touristy) is within walking distance from the Chelsea Market and other great eateries, the subway station, movie theater, food markets, and convenience stores--CVS, etc., etc. The place is kept very clean--lobby, outdoor patio, and dinning area. They have a computer room with internet access. They have an onsite restaurant (didnt eat there so cant say anything about the food).I did get to see a non-Priest Quarters room, or a room similar to the one we would have stayed in if no snafu. Those rooms are quite small but decent if you are planning on using the room for sleeping purposes and showering, but dont care much about the bells and whistle of 5 Stars. At checkout, we heard they will be remodeling the general public rooms, so excited for our future stay at The Leo House.
Amazing place and Staff: we stayed here for our 5th year wedding anniversary. The staff is amazing and friendly and the location is perfect the subway C train was right down the street and alot of thing are in walking distance. Thank you for taking care of us Daniel and LaShawn from Atlanta
This place was awful! I was traveling through several East Coast states and stayed in over a dozen places and by far this was the worse! I rather have stayed in a hostel. It was so dirty and the staff were so rude I almost cried. The walls are paper thin, I heard some un-Catholic noises in the room next door and the car engines and horns went on all night. Absolutely regretted by stay here!
Dont bother booking with this place unless you are 200% sure you want to stay at this dump! They charge you the full amount right away and if you need to cancel or change your reservation, they dont refund you for over 21 days! And when you call to find out why you havent received your refund, they are extremely rude and uncaring saying we dont work on weekends and we cancel in the order we receive them. Thats such BS! They sure as hell charge you in any order they receive so why take so long to refund? Very suspicious
I liked my stay at The Leo House because:•Friendly obliging staff.•Small comfortable room.•Ideal location, walkable to many places and close to underground and buses.•Great breakfast at a reasonable price.•Accessibility to Wi-Fi and desktop internet computers.•Ease of use of the laundry.•A staged modernisation of bathroomwould help in future, but adequate.•I liked the Catholic spirit and availability of the chapel.
DONT STAY HERE. Guy at front was an unprofessional douche. Room they gave us was incorrect due to maintenance, they wouldnt swap rooms for a double bed (we pushed two singles together). Showers were horrible, water pressure was pathetic and only went from freezing to scolding. You have to leave your room key at the front desk every time you go in and out of the building, they have to buzz you back in, these make getting in and out take five minutes longer. Room phone didnt work and the doors were always banging due to wind. Wifi cuts out every five minutes. DONT STAY HERE. Spend an extra fifty bucks.
We wanted to stay there. They charged us and finally for their mistake, we ended up going somewhere else. They told us that in 24 hours they returned the money. A month passed and they still did not enter it. Not to mention the pity of their employees.Todavía no nos devuelven la plata. No quiero pensar que son unos ladrones
The front desk lady (female) on Saturday night june 15 2013 was awful and rude. I dont like extending the word hate but I hate this place...really?! spend a little (and I do mean a little more money) and stay somewhere much much nicer in all aspects of the word (nice)...there are lovely and many churches and places of worship in nyc so you can stay somewhere decent and worship on a budget. thanks
I had reservations to stay at the Leo House on W 23rd St in NYC. I have been on oxygen for 8 years I have travelled with oxygen and have never had a problem. When I called to make delivery arrangements for my oxygen I was told I could not stay there if I used oxygen. I was shocked by this and was told it was policy. I called the executive director and he had the manager call me back. Our reservations were cancelled and no explanation other than policy. I have notified the NYC mayors office. I dont understand and had to cancel my trip. Very disappointed in Leo House and their Catholic sponsors.
Should you want to use their form for reservations there is an automatic 4$ fee falling on your credit card statement right away. More, actually, as the credit card would be pleased to add their own charges/currency exchange fees. Then Leos House informs you that there are no vacancies. Frustrating.
The service was good but not the friendliest I had in NY, the sidewalk was under renovation so it was a bit noisier than I had anticipated, and the rooms we quite outdated, also I was not prepared for the religious iconography, that might be ha been my fault because I did not read the description carefully before booking.

2021-12-18The Leo house was the perfect place for our trip to NYC. We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is very accommodating and friendly and the front lobby is so cozy and warm, especially since it’s decorated for the holiday. Our room was perfect for our needs. We were on the 7th floor and actually had a charming little view. There were two twin beds that were pushed together and they were very comfortable and clean. We were able to open our window because it had a screen in it and that was an easy way to control the room temperature. It was a little warm for December when we were there so the radiator in the room was a bit too warm. In our room we had a half bath that was clean and cute. The baths at the hotel are shared but they were clean and conveniently located and were never crowded while we were there. We only had the free breakfast one morning but it was very good for a hotel breakfast. The location was convenient as well. We always felt safe and there was a convenient store on the same block as well as lots of other dining nearby. Also just a block away from the subway station. Highly recommend the Leo house if you are traveling on a budget and like the cozy feel of older hotels that have charm and character.

2022-04-155 star rating was given due to location, security, staff. Accommodations met all of my needs even with a shared shower/bath. You can’t pay enough for peace - the Catholic Christian atmosphere was the most important aspect of my decision to stay here.Perfect if you are looking for peace.

2022-06-08The paint was peeling off my walls. The rooms dont have a shower, you have to use communal showers on the hallway. The sink is in the closet and the toilet in a seperate room in the bedroom which was a very odd set up. There was no air conditioning either. A very religious devout catholic place. Very clean. Day staff was nice but night staff gave me a hard time about bringing my friend to my room. Pricey for no shower. I wont be returning.

2022-06-07The employees were very rude the whole time. We didnt get everything we paid for and the way the manager handled the situation was ridiculous. She played it off as a training issue even though the one employee we had talked to about our room had worked there for over 20 years. Even if its a training issue thats not the customers problem. They were combative when we wanted to talk about it and did the absolute minimum to try and resolve the situation. I would not recommend staying here.

2022-06-23Clean, comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Great breakfast. Attentive, friendly helpful staff. Excellent rate, location. Support these establishments before staying at hotels.

2022-05-26Extremely rude front desk. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and it was peak summers. The walls are broken. The bedroom was extremely dirty. They’ve just kept a mattress and that’s all. Never going back to this place again.

2022-03-14Friendly staff and good breakfast/location. More of a hostel with shared showers and front desk service. Rooms are clean; however, found a roach in our bathroom that came from the toilet.

2022-04-07This is literally the room they are having people stay in.Front desk is honestly horrendous customer service when bringing this to attention and asking for another room. Physically aggressive trying to grab keys out of hand and also hanging up on the phone when tried to talk to someone about it “sorry I have another call” and hangs up over and over. This could be a nice place but the people make it not so much.

2022-06-20The Leo House is named after Pope Leo and it is the best hotel ever. It even has a garden dedicated to people like Lyric Benson! While the in house colazione is top drawer, the following eateries are not to be missed: venchis, agrumi in Chelsea markets, bergamot, Joes coffee, theres one in Union and also one on 23rd, Dunkin, McDonalds, Zia Maria, the Chelsea square diner, Taco Bell, lucky burger, and fruit carts and falefel wagons and churro stands all over the place. If you are short on cash, buy groceries at the drug store on 8th near bocce di back
