My wife and I spent entire 10 days in NYC. During our stay, one of the days was Valentines Day. I had a table already reserved in different restaurant but when I saw the place physically, I canceled it. So there was a need to find something quickly and The Liberty NYC was one of the places with free tables (two days before Valentines Day). I reserved a table thanks to OpenTable. After coming to this place, it looked nice, there was a lady and bodyguard at the entrance. My reservation was quickly found and we received the table, without any waiting. My wife and I ordered couple of beers and coctail. As main dish we ordered Liberty Burger and Fish & Chips. Burger in taste was ok, could be more seasoned. The meal was for my wife and was ok. For me it was a little bit too small. However Fish and Chips was a different story. Fish was good in taste but was over-fried. As well as fries but less. Everything was so hard to chew on. For the entire dinner we paid nearly $100 but we left a little bit hungry. During our walk back to the hotel, we bought couple of pizza slices in one of the budget places. Do I recommend? Yes. The place is ok, the food was not delicious but tasty. The problem with this place is that there is poor quality-price ratio. Will I come back? No. There are many places in NYC to check out.
I really enjoyed my time at The Liberty NYC. My fiancee and I chose the restaurant because it was on the way to the Empire State Building. We were a little hot at first, but that was probably because we had a lengthy walk and subway ride in a hot car. After about ten minutes, we both cooled down. The waitress we had was superb. She seemed to be waiting on all of the tables indoors but you couldnt tell as a customer. She was on top of things and was extremely calm and polite in demeanor. The atmosphere was nice and clearly leaned heavily on its roots in NYC and the music was loud but we enjoyed it since it added to the liveliness. The food was okay. My fiancee enjoyed her steak sandwich but my fish had a very chewy strip all the way through it(perhaps it was the muscle/cartilage around the spine?). I was able to eat around it and it didnt affect the meal much. All in all, it was an enjoyable dinner at a reasonable price. I would go back if I found myself in the area again.
We had a great time. Sat outside with the heaters, super cute with lights and leather chairs and sofas, and didnt have to even wear our coats and it was in the evening. The only hick-up is we were seated right away but no one came to our table for almost half an hour. Not even waters. But our waiter Devone made up for it. He was fantastic and we had drinks within 5 minutes and food shortly thereafter. Food was well prepared, drinks were perfect and the prices were very reasonable for NYC.
We were disappointed with the experience at The Liberty NYC. We came here for a late lunch. The drinks were as expected. The food, however, disappointing. The hot buffalo wrap not only had way too much sauce (it was spilling everywhere) but the hot sauce was way hotter than it needed to be (we have a fairly high tolerance for heat and typically like heat!). The fried chicken sandwich was soggy and borderline bland. The service was mediocre for a rather quiet mid afternoon lunch. There were some great restaurants nearby we wished we wouldve landed on instead!
This used to be my girlfriend’s watering hole from when she lived in NYC four years ago. The place hasn’t changed much since then, despite the lack of familiar faces at the bar. The bartenders still all serve the same standard of excellent drinks. Good place for sports fans as well as people who just want to have a good drink at reasonable prices. Despite being in a high traffic tourist area, The Liberty is one of the few places that is a shelter from the mess of tourists visiting Herald Square!
DO NOT eat here we have just arrived from Switzerland. And they refused to serve us because my daughter was eating a snack. Then we ordered a meal and there was a black hair in it. They refused to take it back. And still charged up. Then Russ told us he was no longer serving us. So PLEASE please do not go to this establishment
Decent food but god-awful service. They messed up 2 of our orders, and took over 30 mins to replace them. They were nachos and a salad, which should not take that long to make. On top of that, instead of checking in while we were patiently waiting, the staff were sitting at the register and eating the nachos. When we asked about the status of our order, they were incredibly passive-aggressive as well.
The BEST chicken tenders I’ve ever had in my life! The food and drinks were remarkable in general. I can’t believe how moderately priced the menu was. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I wanted to celebrate a special occasion and the staff made sure everything was perfect. Will come back 100%.
This place is pretty cozy, but gets extremely crowded on thurs and fridays. Affordable happy hour that lasts until 8pm. Most places in the area end at 7. One of the best Moscow mules Ive ever tasted. I have always come here for various parties. Just found out today that they have $1 oysters from 4pm-6pm and then again from 10pm-12am.
The prices were great for the location $25 unlimited mimosas for 1.5 hours and the service was top tier, Alex was super pleasant and attentive. The owner also was there I had a chance to meet him and he too was very polite and he was assisting the workers as well. Great environment .
We ate there on july 2, 2021, we ordered a sex on the beach cocktail from the bar. When it came i told my wife this doesnt look right. out of the 4 ingredients it was missing the orange juice, as the drink was sour as could be. i give a 3 start for the drink, i give a 5 star for the food as ordered. would still eat there again on return trip.
Incredible Cleveland Browns backers bar in NYC! Great food, good beer, great atmosphere. The staff is incrediblely friendly and takes good care of you.Just dont ever wear any sports clothing in there that isnt Clevleand Browns apparel. They do not like that (and you dont wanna deal with the Dawg Pound).
My fiance and I wanted to try this place our last night in the city as the menu had appealing selections, it has a very modern look and overall looks to be a great place to have a meal.I only have 2 complaints about our experience and Im not sure If I find this odd because I am from the south or if it is actually out of the ordinary. I have eaten Fettuccine Alfredo several times throughout my life in numerous restaurants and I love it. I have never even heard of someone putting onions all in the meal and in my opinion ruining the creamy texture of the meal. I have never liked onions so maybe I am biased but I never thought I would have to ask for no onions in my Alfredo. The other complaint isnt so much a complaint for this particular restaurant as it is for every restaurant I visited in NYC both times I have been there. If you are a fan of soda be prepared to be disappointed. For some odd reason, every soda in New York City is flat as if it has been shaken numerous times before being served. Once again I am from the south and all of our soda is very carbonated so maybe Im biased but I just find that odd and disappointing when Im in the mood for a soda while visiting the city.
Terrible service, rude waitresses and unfair treatment. Me and a friend paid for bottomless drinks come to find out we couldn’t drink unless we bought food as well, so we did. Then later they FORCED us to pay our tab before we were done eating and when we asked for another drink they told us we couldn’t get anymore because we already paid our tab even though we had 30min left on our 1 hour and 30min timer and the food was subpar, don’t waste your time.
Unfortunately a bad experience for us. The drinks were outrageously expensive and someone at the table next to us was smoking a marijuana pen. I was with my parents and we kept getting strong wiffs of marijuana. It was freezing very cold in the restaurant which I understand with covid they need to regulate air. I wanted to do the bottomless brunch but couldn’t because my parents didn’t want to. I understand how people can take advantage of this, but sometimes when there are groups with people who don’t drink it’s a little unfair. Our nachos were cold, we could tell so because the cheese was hard. When we got our meal Our waiter never checked in on how our meal was, we were waiting for sauce for our sandwich because it was extremely bland. After 20 minutes we were able to wave him down and our food was cold. 2 of us had the same sandwich and neither of us ate it. We were never asked if anything was wrong and they simply brought a to go box over to us without asking if we wanted to take it to go. I don’t want to rag on the restaurant but we paid $200 which is absurd for a causal quick lunch. If we got the food, service and ambience worth the price we would have been more than willing to pay. It’s very easy to make up for small errors at a restaurant but a lack of care and negligence makes it all around a bad experience.

We made a reservation for Sunday brunch on Friday afternoon… The Liberty just called us, Sunday morning at 11am, 30 mins before our reservation, to inform us that there is no brunch menu today. That’s a NYC sin. Obviously, this is a shady restaurant. They assume we will still show up due to their last min call. We won’t be going here again, and would recommend everyone steer clear of this unprofessional restaurant.
This is your standard happy hour bar if youre looking to grab a few drinks with co-workers. I like the fact that their happy hour does account for cocktails unless most of the other beer friendly places (A Moscow mule for $8 is a steal) . In terms of seating , theres ample room for larger groups and we could find a place for a group of 4 on a Friday evening at 7 pm (something youre not gonna find at other neighboring places)Service was commendable and the nachos we ordered was pretty good
Terrible cocktails and super touristy. Not a good spot of youre an NYC local or anyone for that matter. Use the same fryer for veg and non veg items so if you have dietary restrictions you literally cant have anything but a celery stick....this place needs to get with the times.
I love this place! In a desert of ok bars and lunch places, this is an oasis. Micky is an incredible waiter and took great care of us. He was so attentive and friendly. Bonus: this place is a Clemson bar and the BEST place the watch games! The food is great and the drinks are even better.
Walked by with my coworkers after work looking for some food and drinks, saw that they were having a happy hour so we decided to come in. We were greeted and welcome immediately by the lovely host and sat down in the front. The vibe inside was fun and the music was bumping. Beside the great atmosphere, both our servers Serena and Chris were the highlight of our time there. They both are absolute gems with a awesome personalities . Always came back to check on us making sure we were doing well on food and drinks. We were never empty handed. We definitely will be coming back with more friends . How can be beat great prices on all the food, drinks and outstanding staff :) !!
Amazing experience, VERY nice bartenders, Stefania and one other sweet lady took care of us ( didnt catch her name ). Had a great time, awesome happy hour and great atmosphere! Took great care of us and made us feel very welcomed! We will definitely be back!! Thank you Stefania!!!
This place is fantastic, the staff are friendly and I really feel like I should recommend their curly fries. We literally went back 3 days in a row for their curly fries! Delicious! Anyway, the food selection was good, and their drinks were awesome. They had a great happy hour offer when we visited, and the whole drinks menu was great - there was so much choice
Fun times. Most of the food was very nice. And the drinks were great. The one disaster to avoid is the baby street corn. It arrives smothered in mayonnaise and lacks any other flavors, unfortunately. A shock to anyone who has had the real thing, its a wonder it even made it to the menu.
Really awesome food for a bar, whoever is in the kitchen can cook. Definitely the perfect date spot because it’s quiet unless an event is happening. They also could push tables together if a larger group wanted to come in and eat together. Good happy hour. Wheel chair accessible.
On a rather odd street with Irish pubs and Korean restaurants this one is a winner. The few outdoor seats are great for a nice refreshment and people watching meanwhile the inside bar has a good selection of cocktails. Downstairs has a private room for parties. The waitstaff gets a little overwhelmed (slow) on busy nights but overall a fun place for a drink.
Had a really great time here on Thursday with a couple of friends where we enjoyed a few drinks and some excellent food! The Irish bar man Kieran looked after us really well even after it got very busy as did his colleague Tasha. Highly recommend popping in here if youre in the big Apple!
At first glance, The Liberty looks awesome! On warmer days, they open up the front. Patrons sit half outside on a comfy sofa slurping big fat oysters along with their martinis, or frosty pints of craft ale. Once inside, however its a like most midtown bars - overcrowded, overpriced, and underwhelming. Its definitely a cool layout - lots of tables surround a center bar. Theres also a basement level with another small bar and additional seating. If your plan is to have a couple of after-work drinks with colleagues, its perfectly fine. The food is mediocre, at best. I didnt try the oysters the last time I was there, so maybe thats where I went wrong; fried calamari felt like a safe bet, but not here. I would drink there again, and perhaps next time I will give the oysters a fair shot.
This is a pretty good bar, especially when considering that there isnt much else going on in Koreatown. The place was very spacious, which made it easy enough to get seats. Lots of comfortable couches to lounge on. Music was pretty decent and there were lots of TVs. The service wasnt spectacular. Decent selection of beers. I had a really fun time here when I went in December!
Got stuck in the torrential down pour and stumbled into the liberty. AC was on, bartender Sasha was super friendly and smiling even when we decided to move over to a table near the windows where Serina was our server and also so friendly and accommodating! Bar food was ok but atmosphere was five star
Was passing. Was hungry. Looked at lunch menu, thought it looked fine. Went inside. Ate a lovely pizza with garlic fries lunch. Drag performance started. Shocked. Loved it! Best part was being in there with my mum and dad, who also loved it! When I googled the place afterwards there was an ad on their website for a drag lunch (this is what we had unwittingly entered) by Tess Tickles!!!! One of our favourite holiday moments.
Came for dinner with a large reservation of about 7 of us, food was decent not too stellar about what I expected. However our waitress was a little overwhelmed. The drink orders we got were a little off and it was a little pricey for the quality of food that we received. Would give 3.5-4 stars.
A great place to watch sports. This bar is huge so no matter how big the game you can almost always get a seat. Theres also a downstairs if you have a large group. The location is usually convenient for everyone and the TVs are plentiful. The beers are decent and the food is very good. The prices are high, but on par with other midtown bars and totally worth it for not getting beers spilled on you all night.
I kind of love this place! I love the staff, I love being able to reserve spaces here for parties, I love the food and the drinks! There isnt much not to like. Ive been here on multiple locations and am only disappointed when the establishment is too busy for me to grab a quick drink. I definitely recommend getting the specialty cocktails, the sliders, and even the lamb is pretty good.
I was freezing cold, walking the streets with a mild hangover and longing for a cheeseburger and Bloody Mary remedy like the pre-Covid days could provide and stumbled upon this OASIS by chance. Comfy couch, heat lamp pointing straight at me and a dang fine cheeseburger. Highly recommended!
I like the venue. Very cool setting but unless you’re sitting in the front of the bar you’re probably not going to enjoy yourself. The back of the establishment can get very hot and loud so its not exactly the most ideal setting for a conversation. The food is okay. I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food but if you’re lucky enough to reserve the couch you will enjoy the Liberty.
I lost my virginity in the bathroom. I threw up clams everywhere. Great atmosphere. The waiters will try to get you to work there. The chef came out and asked if I knew anyone who sold pot. Its loud but I have been tortured before. Dont make eye contact with the bartender. She will try and get with your dad. The clams are great!
Just came in for a quick drink and brunch, sat at the bar. To my surprise they have a drag brunch and omg, Luis the bartender was a delight, very helpful and knew what he was doing ! I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming here again! Thank you Luis for the experience!
Stopped in for lunch on a hot day and really enjoyed it - except my wife ate half my burger! Our waiter was Louis, very attentive. The Liberty burger was the hit. In a city with lots of secret but not so secret burger spots, this one stood out. The place is comfortable with European type open air tables and the whole front wall opens up to the street on nice days.
Went to a happy hour with a big group, the staff was so kind too set us up in a area just for us. The have good beers on tap, the music is very good, the tv was showing novela kind of weird for a sport bar. Did not eat the food so i cannot yelp about that. But they have a great staff and good selection of random pictures.
Wow, thanks to Dasha who was our magnificent bartender for the night, my girlfriend and I had the most amazing night out in NYC. She was so attentive to our needs, not to mention her drinks were soooo on point. I’ll definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the city, and moreover all NYC natives. We’ll be back every weekend 👍
This was horrible service! Waited over an hour for our over priced cold food. Never told soda refills were additional pricing. The table next to us sat down 20 minutes after us and got their food first. Never asked how our food was. Our sliders were under cooked and cold. I had to go interrupt our waitress from her social hour from two guys to get our check. When I said I wanted to see the manager she stormed off and rolled her eyes and got another staff member. After explaining the situation she asked why I didnt send the food back. I cant if the waitress never comes back. No apologizing. Took money off but a wasted 1 1/2 hour of our lives. Dont waste your time and this was on a slow Sunday night.
Worst service Ive experienced in the city. Turns out our waitress did not have to be nice at all because gratuity of 27% was added for my table of 5. The food was average at best, the fish had no taste but the fries were okay. Extremely loud. Would never suggest to anyone with the ability to hear or anyone who enjoys the respect of another human.
Ground floor is a boisterous, energetic, spacious midtown pub but a little less off putting than the usual atmosphere. The downstairs event space is cozy and flexible, though the AV support is inexpert, the food exceeds expectations and service is thorough and efficient. Wine selection is limited but the otherwise full bar doesnt disappoint.
Wow. Let me start by saying I have had pre-cancer polyps and I am told by Dr. Orders I am not allow gluten, I came here for one drink with my coworkers who all work professional jobs are ordering 2-3 rounds and plenty of food to eat. On the Happy hour drink is Moscow mules for 8 dollars I was like great Ill get one. With Titos since its gluten free. Well. With my condition I can only have one, I dont even like going out cause of these things then the manager Chris, came over and told me I can only have one and that this is not the normal and if you want another one it will be regular price. So not only did this place once make me explain I have a condition the Manager had to publicly comment and make my coworkers have to defend me. Btw I can only have one drink. Discrimination. Not ok to treat paying customers like this. The manager then came to my table said this is the only one Im allowed at the happy hour price I wasnt even asking for another one. So embarrassing when Im just there to enjoy one drink on happy hour with coworkers.
A lovely breath of fresh air from the Irish pubs and the pretentious places that try to play off the pseudo exclusivity role. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they have a Oyster Happy hour on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. The bar is big, the food is good, the prices are ok, the clientele is relatively good-looking. I highly recommend it.
The server here was not very helpful. She seemed to care about just finishing her shift and not taking care of us. The food was okay. The music is a tad loud and its hard to hold a conversation. Dont recommend if you are out of town to come here. Nice bar for people that live here.
I like this place for a few reasons..1. They make great craft cocktails for $122. The have a really good DJ on Fridays3. They have Sriracha (extra points for that)So I recently began working in Midtown and The Liberty is one of the first gems I discovered in the area. Actually some co workers discovered it and I decided to pop my head in there after work. Everything from the decor to the music made me want to stay for a drink and a bite. The place feels like a watering hole from New York of old. They did a good job with this theme throughout the establishment. I also liked the crowd in the Liberty. It was a mix of professionals that looked like they were coming from work and club goers who were pre gaming before a night on the town. The food: I had the Sliders (cheeseburger). These were really good. The buns were soft and the beef was tasty. Definitely above average here. I added some Sriracha to the sliders which kicked the flavor up a notch. I wouldnt hesitate to order these sliders again. The drinks: They have a concise menu of craft cocktails themed after each of the five boroughs. Theres two cocktails per borough. I just told the bar tender to make me his fav drink. I have no idea which one he made me (I was drinking before I got here), but I do know that it was well made, strong, and delicious. This is the kind of place that serves your drink in the proper drink-ware, garnishes it accordingly and doesnt short you on the liquor! All this for $12 is a great value in NYC.Great experience at the Liberty. Ill be back often to check out their lunch offerings, happy hour and for after work drinks. Im especially looking fwd to enjoying their outdoor seating in the coming weeks.
I have been to The Liberty on 2 occasions, both events were private meetings held in their downstairs room. May 11, 2016 was part of a tour by the Dartmouth Athletic Department and more specifically, its Football Program. Hors doeuvre and drinks were provided. Coach Buddy Teevens and others were there, as well as the Ivy League Football Trophy, because, well Dartmouth shared championship with Harvard and Penn. The downstairs venue is very comfortable and nice for a meeting of 20-30 folks. You can actually use google street view to go into The Liberty and in the back actually use street view to go downstairs. Very Nice.

2022-04-17I had a really nice time in here with my sister. Was trying to get some drinks and something small to munch on. I really like the vibe and ambiance in here and our waitress was so friendly. The style of the couches are a really nice touch to this place. It feels and looks really classy. Outdoor seating seems so cozy with a nice view. Happy hour is great being 4-8. Would love to come back again.

2021-12-31We got the spinach artichoke dip and 2 pizzas and all the food was delicious. We made reservations for outdoor seating which was cute. It was ready when we arrived on time. The service was a little slow although very friendly staff. Even with this we were in and out in about an hour. Recommend for some good food in this area that isnt as expensive as so many others!

2021-11-30Absolutely amazing outdoor seating area (visited in late November 2021 on a very chilly windy day). They have comfy leather couches and insanely warm infrared heaters. The food was excellent (we each had a cheeseburger and thought they were fantastic, as were the mac and cheese bites that we shared as an appetizer). The server was friendly and never rushed us. We ended up staying 6 hours (well after we had finished our meal and paid the bill)!!

2021-09-25Good atmosphere for relaxing after a full day work. $1.5 oyster deal in happy hour (4-8pm). New York steak is pretty good and tender with a reasonable price $28. Service is good and these waitresses are fast for everything we asked. We had a good time today!

2022-02-21The owner of this place is someone that I will remember for ever! From Wales, very educated and humble! He and the waitress make sure all the time that we were okay but the most important thing is that they treated my 4 leg daughter 🐕 like a Queen! Priceless! People that really love what they do and have vocation to serve others! Thank you so much!

2022-03-06Our server was so sweet and the food was authentic and delicious. The atmosphere was what you would expect in a good eating experience in NYC. I loved the french onion grilled cheese.

2022-04-20We came for their bottomless brunch (which is a great deal, $25 for 90 minutes and we basically had a pitcher per person by the time our time ran out). The food we got, bacon sandwiches was very basic, Ive had breakfast sandwiches from the typical NY food cart that tasted better, but the service was great (the place was still pretty empty so that might explain why). I also like the ambience of the place, high ceiling giving it a very open space/feel, high bar with screen projectors. Not bad at all.Overall, I think this is a great place for watching a footie match and getting drinks or typical bar food with friends which means I would be coming back here when the world cup is playing.

2021-05-10What a lovely place. We went for brunch. After 15 months of shelter in place! The food is delicious with great presentation, flavor, personalization options, and portion size. We took the bottomless drinks option. I have to say this is the first place ever I visited where we had to ask them to go easy on the booze in the drinks. 😅 Bottomless drinks had a good variety too. Most importantly, the staff is great, very courteous and sweet.
