The Ludlow Hotel in New York
Stayed here for 4 nights recently and the experience overall was nice, but definitely overpriced for the size and (lack of) amenities. We stayed in a Skybox Loft that did have a good view, but the room was very small and poorly lit. There’s a mini fridge in the room, but you can’t use it as it is stocked with overpriced mini bar items. The room service menu is very limited. Our smoke detector went off during our first night at 3am. Someone came and just took it off the wall and told us to stop by the front desk the next day and they’d help with the inconvenience. When we stopped by the next day the lady at the desk just told us that someone would be by during the day to fix the smoke detector, but nothing about being compensated for waking us up at 3am. We ended up having to cancel some of our plans that day as we were too tired to do them since we were woken up in the middle of the night. The employees also were either not wearing masks at all or properly wearing them and not enforcing guests to wear them as well. I will be staying somewhere else on our next trip.
Nicely curated boutique hotel that deserves 5 stars simply because of the wonderful staff that works there (thank you Austin for making us feel at home).Loved the restaurant, bar and amenities (specially the gym which is nicely equipped and has a GREAT view from the 20th floor). It was a wonderful stay overall, will definitely be back.- Gerardo Echeverria
Be mindful they don’t monitor patrons smoking in there room. We are staying here for 5 days and the hallways stink like weed. The pot smell is constantly wafting into our room. I am not against people smoking but do it out side so it doesn’t fumigate through out the rooms.I called down stairs everyday and they say the same thing, but nothing gets fixed.Suggestion to the hotel management: go back to having a “smoking” floor. So that the weed smoking isn’t scattered through out every floor wafting into every room. Just offer a smoking friendly floor.
We stayed at the Ludlow the first week of March for my 40th birthday and it truly was the highlight of our trip to New York! Not only was the design on point and every detail perfect, the staff was by far the best I have ever experienced at a hotel. Being from Texas, we take southern hospitality very seriously but the Ludlow really outdid itself with friendliness. They made us feel like old friends everytime we returned from a long day venturing into the city. Thank you so much for making our stay magical, I couldnt have asked for a better birthday!
Truly a special and wonderful hotel. I stayed in a Skybox Loft and the view was amazing. The room was spotless and well appointed. The atmosphere of the entire hotel is relaxing and inviting. If you can, allow yourself an extra day to really make the most of the hotel, its views and amenities.
Great hotel:The room and bathroom are really nicely decorated with hardwood floor and were perfectly cleaned. It is far better than all the other big box hotels of the lower east side! The hotel is very quiet. You have quite a view if you ask for a upper floor room. The rooftop is amazing. The area is perfect.
Booked a room here for my birthday last week and it was an amazing stay. I loved my room on the 15th floor. I booked a king size room with a balcony and it was the perfect size. The decor and ambiance is so full of character and charm without looking old. I had a view of the Brooklyn bride, one world trade, and Empire State. That is VERY rare. I would definitely stay here again. The lobby and outdoor space were super cute and the location is fantastic. The staff was very nice and accommodating as well. 5 out of 5 stars for sure.
This is a wonderful hotel in just about every respect. The staff are welcoming and helpful from the first, the lobby is fabulous, the rooms are lovely with great beds and sheets and showers, the views from the rooms and the gym and roof terrace are outstanding, the food and ambience at the hotel restaurant are superb. We also love the location, close to the 6 train and surrounded by amazing neighbourhood restaurants and also walking distance to the Brooklyn Bridge and all Dumbo has to offer.
Had such a disappointing 2-night stay at the Ludlow, would not recommend! The rooms at the Ludlow are nice but the bad Wi-Fi, consistently rude ladies at the front desk (rude to us & giving out about other guests in front of us - bigggg yikes), lack of cleanliness in common areas - overall just not a good experience at all. On top of all that, I was double charged for my stay (two different amounts) and billing dept were clueless via email - so seems to be issues across the board here. Only positive was the location, overall design/aesthetic, friendly housekeeping staff, and early check-in which we really appreciate.Stayed at 2 nights at The Broome Hotel & 2 nights at The Bowery Hotel the same week and highly recommend them instead! Incredible service across the board at both.
Used to be my favorite hotel.. but sadly recently they started to have super loud noise from gas collection trucks in the morning.. I stayed here for a week and the truck comes 2-3 times a day… many ppl got wake up… I called to confirm it’s a recurring problem.. the truck just come to collect gas for restaurants on the street 2-3 times a week…
Wanted to love it but there were a few things that bothered me about the rooms. Yes its true- theyre a bit too small especially if you have luggage with you. The shower in our room also seemed broken Bec of the really intense water pressure. We talked to the front desk about this but they said that the old school rainwater showerheads were supposed to be that way. Its a shame they didnt even bother checking it out before coming out with that assumption.Pros of Ludlow Hotel though- amazing location, right in the middle of the action in the lower east side. Generally safe and within walking distance to a Duane Reed for a quick supply run. The hotel didnt have room service but made up for it by giving out pastry boxes every morning (1 butter croissant, 1 chocolate croissant, 1 muffin)- this was a nice gesture.
Very clean overall, very nice customer service and the stylish rooms are amazing (I got the sky loft on the 19th floor) great view of the east side and the World Trade Center in the financial district. The room had a small balcony that you could walk out on to and the bathroom French-style tub was the best, plus you have a window where you can look out on the city from the comfort of the tub. The room has a living room area with 180° degree views, which was the cherry on top of the cake. Plus, if you are looking for a cab, just let the front desk know; they have a special cab button, so you dont have to struggle to find one. An extra bonus is that you are literally seconds away from Katzs Delicatessen and a couple of feet away from Van Leeuwen ice cream (the best ice cream Ive ever had). I only removed a star because the location is not the best, but its not the worst. If I had the option, I would honestly give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Its in an older part of town but on the upside is that you are near a lot of great places. I would stay here again.
We checked in but the room wasn’t ready until after an hour and a half. We were exhausted from the flight! However, the hotel is very clean especially the housekeeping service. Our room was tidy and our bedsheets were clean and new towels everyday no need to ask them for it. The bed was uncomfortable and squeaks everytime you move. Superb location. Will recommend. We had a pleasant stay overall!
Had a great time. Booked the room last minute and there was a mix up with our room type being fully book. The receptionist handled the situation very well and accommodated us with a room upgrade. The room was spotless and had great classic character with nice modern touches. Staff were very friendly and the bar next the the lobby was very nice. Would definitely come back.
This place doesnt wash its sheets or blankets. The rooms are dimmly lit. First night we got back late and passed out only to wake up to a big deep red crusty stain on the inside of the comforter which can only be described as blood. We asked for a new one. We woke up the next morning to a bright room only to find a bigger browner stain on this comforter next to our face. Cool. Should have left and counted our loses.
I think this hotel is in an amazing location. Its near a bunch of great vegan restaurants and also the Ludlow coffee shop next door is great. The room was pretty quiet, had an amazing bathtub and great water temperature. The bar in the hotel is also very nice and has great cocktails. Highly recommended.
Stayed in the Skybox loft for staycation and it was great. It’s NYC so room size is of course small. Bathroom is for sure Instagram material :) This room also comes with a balcony. Location is in lower east side, convenient with everything you need. Also super close to the legendary Katz Dali. Overall good experience.
Super Relaxing and Super Comfortable, good people serving Here. A Nice Place to Crash at The End of The Night with a Wonderful and Beautiful Girl, of Course if you have it. 😁 Come and Enjoy the View in their Rooftop, it will give you a Magnificent Relaxing and Peaceful Time Overhere.
My stay at the Ludlow was great. They were very accommodating during my stay. The rooms were remarkable, absolutely stunning views. The bathroom views were also impeccable. I have nothing bad to say about my stay. The issue came AFTER my stay. I was charged $164 for a cleaning fee which I was told would not occur and would be refunded to me. I called three different times. The first time, I was told the billing agent was not there so he couldnt answer my calls. The second time, I was told I would likely be refunded. I spoke to the billing agent today and he told me I was lucky they didnt charge me more because he would have. I understand there are cleaning fees that may occur. However, when I specifically ask if I can leave something in the room and they repeatedly tell me yes and that I wouldnt be charged just to find out I am charged later (without notification) is frustrating. And then for them to tell me Im lucky they didnt charge me more, is very frustrating. This is not 5 star on customer service.
I stayed here 4 nights for a work trip and I was VERY impressed. Great location. The decor is gorgeous. The room was nice and quiet. The bed was VERY comfortable and as someone with chronic back pain, I dont say that lightly. The roof deck has great views any time of day, and I took advantage of the fitness center, also on the top floor. The desk staff was great as well. But best of all, this is THE CLEANEST hotel room Ive ever been in. I truly felt like I was home.
My girlfriend Shari and I were leaving Katz’s Deli last November and noticed the low-key charm of The Ludlow Hotel from the outside. I entered and introduced myself to the gentleman at the front desk. Mr. Joe was happy to give us a business card and an invitation to come back when we needed a “getaway.” When winter in the 5 Boroughs during the pandemic had blown the energy out of us, we called The Ludlow and spoke with Mr. Joe again, but this time to make a reservation for a short “Stay-cation.”As we say in Brooklyn, “‘WAS DA BEST THING I COULDA DONE!”The common areas were immaculately clean, with beautiful woodwork maintained in perfect condition. Our room displayed the same attention to detail as the rest of the building. Rustic brass plumbing fixtures, quiet air blowing unnoticeably from the heating/cooling system, a very comfortable bed with crisp, cozy linens, and a choice of pillows.Everything we touched in the entire hotel had a noticeable amount of style, including the staff. I became acquainted with people like Mr. Joe, Mr. Ken, Mr. Patrick, and several other people (real people) who were very eager to help us enjoy all that their hotel could offer us, as well as helping us find great restaurants and shops nearby. We’re going to be coming back to The Ludlow Hotel and staying a bit longer this time.I believe that people who appreciate beautiful things and are tired of poorly laid out rooms will find that The Ludlow Hotel is itself, a stunning rebirth of an elegant building with a 5-star staff.
The hotel is lovely, the rooms have a nice homely and trendy decor and the reception staff are lovely. We had a room with a roof terrace, and it was amazing to be able to sit out and eat pizza and drink wine on our private terrace. The bar staff on the other hand were not attentive. You could wait up to 20 minutes for service to order a drink.
Wonderful stay - big hotel rooms (for NYC) with amazing bathroom space. Our bathtub was huge and had a great view over down town New York. Very friendly and helpful staff and nice common areas. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway. Only fault is no gym in the hotel so not ideal for a longer stay.
I have stayed here on my last two trips to NYC. Always a great experience. Great lobby with a fireplace and comfortable furniture to hang out in and work during the day. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The Marvis toothpaste in the bathroom is a nice touch. Beds and linens are comfortable. Will continue to come back here. Also, right by Russ and Daughters and Souvlaki GR, two of my favorite places to eat. Can’t wait to come back again and stay.
Everything about our stay here was 5 stars. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully decorated. The bathroom was decadent, well stocked, adorned with mosaics and, best part, included a deep soaking tub with brass features. The king sized bed was propbably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in and bonus points: the pillows weren’t overly stuffed. The hotel staff was very helpful and down to earth. The lobby area has a really neat vibe with a bunch of comfortable seating and the roof top deck is open 24 hours with incredible views of the city. The location of this hotel is ideal; coffee shops, restaurants, shops, etc., all walking distance. Will definitely stay here again.
Just returned from NYC and had an excellent experience at the Ludlow Hotel. The location on the lower East side was very nice and convenient to nearby sights and the subway. The rooms were average size, but comfortable and nice. We were on the 10th floor in a corner room, and had superb views of lower Manhattan. The staff was superb. From check in to departure, everyone was quite friendly and accomadating. We especially enjoyed our interactions with Tony at the lounge/service bar. He was knowledgeable, down to earth and very hospitable. Also, the food in the restaurant was delicious and presented professionally. On our next trip to NYC, we would definitely consider staying here again.
A lively and stylish hotel.Stayed for 5 nights and loved every moment.Enjoyed evenings in the lounge with fabulous cocktails, and superb food. Cold on the roof in March but superb views nonetheless! Rooms were exquisite and incredibly well maintained. Easy to recommend. A wonderful place.
Love this hotel - the staff are incredibly professional, accommodating and helpful. Great service overall. The rooms and facilities (and sweet rooftop) are warm, welcoming and luxurious but still down to earth and the vibe of the hotel was really chill but energetic and hip. And the location is the best thing of all - the LES is so awesome, it was great being right on its doorstep.
The great looking hotel, we enjoyed especially the hotel design, reminding old times a 50 years ago. We had a loft room. As Europeans we were disapointed by room space, but right after followed by great room experience. The room is quiet and with great view. You can enjoy the sunrise and see the New York City waking up. We also did walking around from the hotel to Central Park and back. Fully recommended
The ambiance, service and food were all excellent. The room was cozy and cool. My only complaint would be that if your room faces Ludlow street on a weekend, it will be noisy until the wee hours. Really noisy. The main culprit appears to be the 15th floor patio lounge across the street at the Indigo hotel.I suggest ear plugs and a room facing the back of the hotel.
Stayed here a while ago and have been meaning to review. The staff were a little snooty sometimes, but otherwise friendly. Slightly aggressive warning messages on items like umbrellas of the cost that would incur if you took or misplaced it. Overpriced with pretty much nothing included. Won’t be staying again.
Very bad experience. The hotels location is more or less good but it is not a particularly good area either. The rooms are very dark and the decoration is nothing to write home about.Above all I want to highlight how rude the people at the reception and cafeteria are, when you talk to them it seems that you are bothering them and they do not help at all. If it werent for the staff, the hotel would have a pass but with the bad management they carry I would not return
Its hard to go on an overseas trip, so Im playing alone looking back on my favorite hotel in Japanese. This hotel has cute attractions 😫💕Margielas bathrobes and boobs (with a bathtub!), Interior fonts, casual fur on chairs, and the Asahi Shimbun in New York, to the small items unified in black! Its not that big, but it makes me feel like Im living in a cozy atmosphere. There are many delicious restaurants and deli in this neighborhood, so its just fun. It is a hotel I want to stay again. If I have a chance to go to NYC next time, I would like to take a leisurely walk around the city based here.

2022-06-03The Ludlow Hotel is my go to accommodation when in NYC. The hotel is beautiful, decorated in a funky urban vibe and the staff there are consistently friendly and helpful. I stayed in a queen bed room and loved the views from the windows. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and very clean. Housekeeping does an amazing job and I loved the small details like the Nespresso coffee, toiletries and bath robes to make my stay even more comfortable. The lobby lounge serves a great cocktail and it’s a great place to cozy by the fireplace and read the newspaper. In the area are lots of cafes, restaurants and ice cream shops and a really lovely coffee shop next door. Of course the restaurant on-site is a must. Can’t wait to return again soon!

2022-01-18My daughter and I just spent 3 nights at The Ludlow for her 16th birthday. The property is gorgeous, wonderful atmosphere and design, very “grown up” and sophisticated - just perfect for her first big girl trip. The staff was so friendly and fun, they were very kind about her birthday, and left a note and treats in the room. Our room was so cozy and comfortable. The restaurant, Dirty French was delicious, and we enjoyed the hotel’s lounge with the fire! Super enjoyed everything about our stay!

2022-02-04Beautiful room we stayed in, the huge tub and shower were fantastic. The location of The Ludlow was convenient enough for subways, with most things in walking distance. Have to love having Katz deli across the street, although thats a once-a-trip pleasure to enjoy. Service was prompt and pleasant, the room was clean and the view even from the basic room we picked was nice. Overall a great hotel experience. Recommended.

2022-03-18Second time at this excellent hotel. Location is perfect, decor and friendly vibe are also top notch. I also had to orchestrate receiving a birthday gift during our short stay and the communications with front desk made this as pain-free as possible. Friendly staff, a lovely surprise bottle of fizz with a birthday message really topped it off a treat. If you want to feel welcome and spoiled in a cool understated way then this is the hotel for you.

2022-06-08Let me say that I’m a bit biased towards the LES. In my opinion it’s the coolest area in Manhattan. This hotel was nice, clean, and I enjoyed the decor. The suite was a bit of an odd layout and reminiscent of an old NYC apartment, but I thought it was pretty cool notwithstanding. Perhaps the best of all is that they welcomed my (very unfriendly) dog, who seemingly enjoyed the California King more than I did.

2022-02-16Love love love this hotel lobby. I could work from this sun room for ever. It made work a breeze with their service and great wifi throughout. The seating was comfortable and although the space was somewhat small, it really didn’t feel cramped. Will for sure be coming back here for another drink as well

2022-01-15My (now) husband and I stayed at the Ludlow for our elopement in mid January. The staff were kind & helpful, the skybox loft was perfection, and the lobby bar was a great spot to enjoy coffee or and old fashioned. The Ludlow Hotel was an wonderful complement to a big milestone for us and we look forward to celebrating anniversaries there for years to come.

2022-03-09This was my favorite stay that I have had in New York City so far. Got back late at night one of the nights that my friend and I stayed and had forgot our key in card at the bar. One of the workers gladly walked us up to our room because of our concerns. They have the cutest mini bar, the hotel is super clean, and overall I had the best time. Would come back in a heart beat.

2021-12-23We stayed there for two nights and we loved the room and the bar. We enjoyed the secret courtyard bar that was less noisy. At the end of our stay, the friendly host at the front desk helped us resolve a problem with our parking charge. Advice for future guests: Present your parking voucher _before_ handing over your credit card.

2022-03-31My boyfriend and I stayed here for a staycation and enjoyed it very much. The room was beautiful but what it even better was Austin at the front desk. He was so attentive and made our stay better! would definitely stay here again.
