Speakeasy vibes with delish drinks. Very cozy on the inside with plenty of seclusion for you and your guests. Levi the host went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. I do recommend calling before you go to see what time their last call is that night. The first time we tried to go the last call was over and hour before they’re stated close.
Excellent cocktails and service in authentic old world design and decor that’s in Hudson’s upper caliber, and as cosmopolitan as nyc haunts. No standing at the bar, so be prepared to wait for a seat during busy times. Helpful, knowledgeable and skilled staff to ensure a great dining experience. The dining room in separate from the bar; exquisite food that’s well balanced and comes quickly. The staff’s friendliness makes the experience casual enough to not take itself too seriously. Truly an enjoyable feast for the eyes, and the senses.
I first visited The Maker during the pandemic and was super excited to get together with friends this past Saturday night for a drink there after having talked it up so much. As someone in the hospitality industry, I was disappointed in the way the staff “welcomed” my party of five. The bartender was extremely rude in the way she greeted us from the minute we walked in. She pointed out that the bar only had room to seat three people and when we offered to split up our group, she shot down that option. When we looked around we noticed that there were two tables that sat 4-5 ppl available and two big couch areas occupied by two older couples lounging (one of the couples looked like they were high as they had mistaken the couch for their bed — bad touches included) with empty drinks in front of them, each table able to seat six. We all got the feeling that accommodations were able to be made had we not been “Russian”. I say this because when we were walking out, we overheard the bartender tell a customer seated at the bar that our party “was probably Russian or something.” We’re not, not that it matters — but, really? I’ll probably get an automatic message like the rest of the folks with bad reviews but professionally speaking, The Maker should re-evaluate their strategy on hospitality because our experience was not it.
Wow!!! I enjoyed cocktails at the bar a few times last summer and it’s exciting to have such a beautiful lounge in Hudson. The bartenders are pros and the guy who stands outside is a doll. The quality of the drinks and food as well as the pool, pianist, bathrooms combine perfectly with the spirit of the space. Impressive all around.
Service was a nightmare. We walked in and were ignored for 10 minutes. Place was half empty but the bartender refused to acknowledge us. We approached her to ask if we could sit, but she responded in a rude, arrogant and disrespectful manner so we left right away. Seems like many people in the reviews had a similar experience.
Here’s my original review. “Stunning otherworldly space that is open and spacious with its high carriage house ceilings, while feeling cozy and intimate with velvet lounges, a fireplace and piano. The bar is beautifully lit, the cocktails delish. And the bar snacks are creative, beautiful and filling.” While I still feel that it is accurate, it’s worth noting that you cannot use the outdoor patio because it is for the exclusive use of the guests of the hotel. The maker has some great food and drinks and I think the concepts is a good one except for making the patio off-limits. It’s exactly what Hudson needed an outdoor café off Warren Street where you’re not stuck in the front with all the cars passing by.
Service here isn’t bad, it’s nonexistent. My girlfriend and I walked in and stood by the door for about 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged. There were about 5 tables sitting at this time so to say the place wasnt busy would be accurate. There were as many employees as there were customers so the service was inexcusable. There were also empty tables that they could have seated us or the other couple standing next to us who also seemed to be enjoying their time in solitude while we waited to be acknowledged. Once we were seated in what seemed like the amount of time it took to build the pyramids at Giza the experience got even more unforgettable. We ordered two drinks, because ya know, 2 people. They brought one cold “hot” toddy and never brought the other drink. So yes, we received 50% of our order. Once this happened we were ready to leave as at this point we had been here for the better part of a day. We eventually got the check with all of the items on it and instead of arguing we paid as we knew it would have taken at least 3-5 business days for anyone to come attend to the issue. I cannot understand any good reviews of this place. They need a lot of work with service. Although this may come across as a joke, it is, in fact, not.
Visited The Maker Lounge for the first time during a recent trip to Hudson, NY. I had heard great things about The Maker Hotel, which had just opened a few weeks ago so we wanted to check out everything from the lounge to the cafe. We had checked out The Maker Cafe earlier that day and was disappointed by the quality of the service there so we were a little nervous about checking out The Maker Lounge, but it didn’t disappoint! This is a beautiful bar inside a former carriage house that makes you feel like you’re inside Gatsby’s private lounge and I loved all the details and the color scheme. We ordered the Hotel Nacional Special cocktail and the Secret Garden cocktail and both were refreshing. We also ordered the arancini to snack on before dinner. This was our first time grabbing drinks inside a bar in over seven months, but the bartenders here were really friendly and made us feel safe and welcome with proper social distancing measures. Would love to come back here when they change their cocktail menu for the wintertime.
Really cool space and drinks were Delicious. I gave 5 stars because the place is new and it has potential, however, the food was a little MEH. Maybe an off night. Was excited to just be able to get a drink and sit late night during the pandemic. We ordered the $16 hot dog and expected to be blown away. Wasnt. Burnt bun and just slapped together. The pate was an almost. The presentation on both was lacking. I did go in the last hour, so I am giving it a pass, but more attention needs to be given to details especially in a boutique place like this.
Spent the entire day looking at the cafe menu dreaming about a hot chocolate (to the tune of $8.50 each). Got there at 3:45 (they do mentioned cafe closes at 4) sat down with a friend and sat for 20 minutes before walking up to the front desk area to ask if we needed to order there or at the table + they did say the waitress will be right with you. Waitress came over and we went to order two hot chocolates + some pastries to be told the cafe closed at 4 and the machine was now shut down. What was supposed to be a coffee date with a friend turned into getting waters and apps and spoiled both our dinners at home with our families. Service is no good and the food really wasnt either...PS-plenty of staff around, just nobody interested in actually being present and working!
Beautiful place, but good lord is it ridiculously expensive. 15 bucks for five chicken wings (granted they were delicious). A 23 dollar cheese board that had maybe 2 dollars of cheese and crackers which was not very good. 15 dollars for a rum and coke. This is a little podunk town, so I dont know where these prices are coming from. Avoid unless your a doctor or attorney..
Ive been to the Maker Lounge a few times and instantly feel like Im being transported back in time here. I absolutely love the art deco decor inside with the tall ceilings and cozy fireplace. The drinks are really great and well presented. Im really looking forward to checking out the hotel when it opens and the restaurant as well.
Stopped at the Maker Lounge for drinks after dinner and we were really very pleased with the atmosphere, the cocktails and hospitality offered to us by Dorian. We were greeted immediately and spent time with Dorian getting a tour of the Maker which was fascinating and fantastic. Will make reservations here once the rooms are open and are very much looking forward to spending a weekend @ The Maker!
$25 for a sad flattened over cooked chicken breast. Go for the pastries, stay away from the meals. I really want to like this place(the ambience is great), but they obviously think they are located in a different city. And to be clear, even if they were in NYC I would still be offended by their price points.
Super cozy and intimate speak easy vibes in the heart of Hudson. The lounge/ bar is just one of the great Maker spaces. Our server was happy to share the history of the carriage house conversion. the light fixtures from all over the world, art work, exceptional finishes and fireplace all make for a memorable romantic experience. Must visit when in Hudson.
We went in person to ask about reserving dinner and the hostess turned us away, telling us to do it online — so we did. We reserved a time slot. Hours later, we were rejected. We tried the next day and found a 5:30pm slot — hours later, we were rejected once again. When we followed up in person at the restaurant, they said they were booked full. I don’t know why they make it so difficult. They turn guests away to check an online tool and that tool doesn’t even work. We eventually gave up and will never try again. I’m from NYC, not even restaurants here are this pretentious.
What a welcome experience. Walking in seeing the dark Interior, hearing a gentleman playing a piano and watching a actual fire in a Baroque style fireplace was just what the doctor ordered. It was hard to believe I was in Hudson as opposed to Vienna or Prague. Excellent service, ambiance, and drinks...the only drawback was they wouldnt let me light up a cigar...best lounge I have been to outside of Manhattan or Europe
Its more like a 3.5, but since Google doesnt do .5s ... The decor is nice. The drinks are quite good, and the staff is lovely. The music is awful and so jarring. The trance/techno/ I dont know what is awful in contrast to the space. You should not feel the walls vibrate from the bass in a place like The Maker Lounge. The music choice ruins the atmosphere!
I cant even properly recommend this place in a review. Just dress up (not that you have to but it will make you feel awesome), bring a paperback, and slowly drink yourself to nirvana on Manhattans while listening to a grand piano and watching the light of magic hour stream through the rafters.

2022-05-17Wonderful place for a delicious and intimate cocktail - especially on the weekdays when the town is more sleepy. The high ceilings and dark vibe set the mood immediately, as did the green leather bound cocktail menus. The drink presentation was phenomenal, and we easily chatted up some locals who purchased a round of shots and invited us to the next spot for more drinks.Highly recommended.

2021-08-13A contemporary ghost bar with stellar service, Maker Lounge in Hudson, NY is the ideal spot to enjoy mindfully prepared cooking and mouthwatering cocktails. Part of the Maker Hotel, the lounge looks to grant a bespoke experience to the Upstate New York Community and travelers alike– and it does! Upon arrival, Maker’s brilliant mixologists expertly crafted cocktails that quenched our thirst and lifted our spirits. Enjoy your beverage at the well-stocked, bar, or venture out onto the patio for some sips and sunshine. The interior design of Maker Lounge is exquisite, with vibrant hanging light fixtures, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, and an extensive art collection. Once guests settle into their seats, they’re sure to be impressed by the hospitable service, classic cocktails (we ordered the martini, which was incredible), and the delicious eats delivered with elegant preparation, as prepared by Executive Chef Michael Poiarkoff. 360 Magazine will surely be back!

2021-07-27The Maker Lounge is further down the road from the Maker Cafe. It has a speak-easy, sultry, feel to it, similar to many youd find in Flatiron/Gramercy Manhattan. The bar is beautiful, the staff are attentive, and the crowd is older; think early 40s. Drinks vary from being great, and others, not so great. Choose wisely!

2021-12-15This is a review of the Maker Hotel Lounge, which is the cocktail bar separate from the Restaurant and Cafe. Our party of five arrived at 10pm last Saturday night and entered from the back, alley-designated entrance (as opposed to passing through the Hotel). We were immediately greeted by the bartender and told that our group could not be accommodated before she even glanced around the room. For context, aside from the Lounges beautiful bar seating (which bore 2-3 empty seats) there are also several small lounge seating areas. Two of these areas could each comfortably accommodate 5-6 people. Instead each area was occupied by solitary couples. There were more intimate seating areas either of these couples could have been nicely asked by staff to consolidate to. In particular because one of the couples was entirely sprawled across the couch that made up half of one seating area, seemingly over-served and falling asleep amidst a spent champagne bottle and numerous glasses. [see attached pic] -- Not the look you want for your upscale cocktail lounge at 10pm.Across the room there was also an empty table with four highback armchairs, and a 5th seat could have easily been added, but we were told that grouping was reserved. A head scratcher for sure, but being industry folks we offered to split up into two groups. The bartender shot that idea down. I asked what she would suggest we do, to which she replied, The Cafe should be able to accommodate you. As we walked toward the Cafe, but still very much in earshot, a patron asked the bartender where we were from. The bartender replied, Russians? (were not, but still...huh?)We entered the cafe at 10:04pm only to be told by the server there that the Cafe doesnt seat past 9:15pm, despite having just been sent there by her colleague. Unfortunate situation all around. And the Lounge would still be open for another two hours (12am).If demographics are anything to weigh into this, were four women and one man, all professionals in our 30s to mid-40s. Not that anything related to how were are outwardly presented should have elicited the bartenders unwelcoming and unaccommodating response. Unfortunately Im bracing for the stock response to unfavorable feedback that seems to be managements fallback move at The Maker:Thank you for your honest feedback. Our team really appreciates hearing from our guests and will share your comments with our team. We hope to welcome you in our space again.A more effective response would be an all-staff meeting to address the flow of customers and seating arrangements (especially when seated customers appear to be over-served and in full repose on the couches), how not to scare off business, and not to make disparaging remarks about potential customers in the workplace.

2021-12-27Wow- this was quite the horrific experience. The most unwelcoming place in New York State. As a real New Yorker you get all sorts of characters but this was quite special. My family and I literally got kicked out of the lounge because apparently children are not allowed as per New York State. Being a former partner of a bar myself I can say with confidence that is not the case. The hostess was demeaning, disrespectful and frankly the nastiest person I’ve ever dealt with. There are proper ways in talking to your customer. Get off your high horse. Go anyone but here.
