The Mansfield Residence in New York
I arrived at Mansfields residence about five weeks ago. Im pretty satisfied with my room (although I dont have a bathtub or AC like other rooms). The building has a gym , a laundry room, and a shared kitchen. However, I eat primarily at Whole Foods because they have an excellent fresh buffet. The zone is fantastic, close to Bryan Park, Times Square, etc. The staff is Amazing, especially Ali, which always is willing to help you.Im feeling very comfortable, and I recommend this place to stay.
Stay away!! The WORST experience ever! I was supposed to stay in a studio room for a few months but moved out only after a couple of days because my experience was unbelievably bad like the other reviews. First, the room was so dirty & dusty, the door lock was broken, rotten food waste in the trash can, rotten liquid in the kettle, clogged sink and bathtub, a sock and whatnot under the bed and dirty bedsheets. Moreover, there was a bug, wifi was so unstable and no central heating in the middle of the winter. On top of that, they failed to fix the problems in timely manner, so unresponsive and the staff accused me of being a complainer out of blue or being very subjective with the issues but I was clearly not. They became offensive and caused me so much stress. After I moved out, they refused to refund my deposit and insisted me to pay 33 days of rent in full. So many other people also have the same issues and seems like its their scam scheme or business model to lure people and provide inhabitable condition so they can get their money with quick turnaround. My honest advice - stay away!
I stayed at The Mansfield Residence for two weeks. I think This hotel have three good points. Firstly, Location is great. it took less than ten minutes from this hotel to Times Square. Secondly, The staff, especially MIKU, is so kind, TO be honest, I didnt bring a call phone from japan that I could use for phone function.(only message were possible) so I couldnt use the washing machine and dryer. but he helped me many times. so thanks to him, I finally could wash and dry my clothes many time. I really really appreciate MIKIs help. Thirdly, this hotel let me check in early.I was exhausted from my flight, so it was a big help.It was great experience for me to stay here.Oh, it would be wise to check out the latest information on what the hotel has in the way of supplies(hair dryer, towels, heater ,etc. ) beforehand.Enjoy your trip!
I would love to give this place 5 stars, but our comforter was dirty. We didnt realize this until our last day, when we were leaving. Everything else was fine. Its very cozy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was easy. Perfect location. So close to everything.
A wonderful place to stay. I lived here for more than 3 months and had the best time. The people that work here are very helpful, especially Mike and Ned! My complaints and queries were heard and necessary action was taken. Would definitely come back and stay here again.
I have been here since September and I could not be more pleased with the rooms, hospitality and location which is very close to everything. Any area if New York is just 15 mins away! Previously, other apartments I’ve stayed in have had lots of noise on street, and I thought it was unavoidable in New York but I haven’t had any problems with that here. My maintenance requests were answered quickly and Ned was very responsible to any requests I had, and sent someone right away Would recommend to anyone!
The Mansfield Residence is administrated by Harrington Housing. The place is clean, centrally located and has all the services that you may need (kitchen, gym, work space, reception etc). The people working here are all super helpful! Specially Eram, Mike and Ned. They all helped me with different questions and tasks that I needed help with. The cleaning and maintenance are well done by the cleaning and maintenance teams and they are all very friendly and quick. The bed was very comfortable and sheets and pillows were clean and new. All very nice. This is an old hotel now rented out as smaller apartments with short- or long stay contracts. They rooms are very small for this purpose in my opinion. I felt anxiety because the room was very dark and small. I also think they are overpriced for long stay guests. For these prices the rooms also need to be modernised. It is very expensive for what you get. The administration behind front desk (the people that dont work in the building) is slow and bureaucratic. They take a long time answering and when they finally do they dont answer the question you asked them. They are very un-organised. You have to email them the same questions over and over again. In the end everything was sorted out but it felt like it should have been handled in a more organised and proper manner. This is a good place to stay for a couple of weeks but not longer than that in my opinion. Thanks again to Eram, Mike and Ned for the help with my questions.Magnus
This place was amazing. I was prepared for the smaller rooms thanks to the other reviews that I had read. Every hotel in this area charges a resort fee so I was also prepared for that. For the resort fee you get free coffee, tea, and water. Pastries are served in the morning. The room had no view but had a classic New York City feel. The location of this hotel could not be better. Five minute walk to Bryant Park and Time Square and less than a mile from Central Park. If you are prepared for the small rooms and know a head of time that there is a resort fee you will be more than happy with this hotel.
We booked this place through Airbnb…. And let me just tell you… just spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. If it’s $120/night in NYC it’s too good to be true. The room is nasty. Dirty. They told us we couldn’t check in til 4 PM… but couldn’t even properly clean the floor. And left no towels or toilet paper. If I could rate this -7 stars I would.
This hotel is a must go. I went there on my trip to New York from Toronto. The staff are so friendly but professional at the same time. The environment around is super comforting and calm. The hotel is really close to Time square (couple minutes walking). I really enjoyed my stay there. Will definitely go again! Super great work, keep it up!
The treatment and customer service at Mansfield Residence NY is the worst ever! Nad the employee is always asking for cash, he harrased me to the point I did not want to be around him, then tried to scam, then lied to me and told me if I dont like I can leave. Dont stay there! Run away, I needed to call police about those employees! Nad & Gabby such a fake people! Watch out! They also giving you the worst rooms ever! Dont get affected by the show rooms - stay away! They are also stealing money! Those employees are such poor people. They are also hiring people to write good reviews. How indigent this employees, company heh.
Hi, I Téo, I am french and I stay here for 3 months. This place is really great, I recommend this place for all young working people or students who want a quality place in the center of manhattan. Moreover, the whole team is very available and friendly.Great experience!
Perfect location for the Theater District, Times Square, and 5th Ave. Staff was nice. Some minor but inconvenient tidbits like no heat control on room, no decaf coffee in the library ( hot chocolate was delicious), no hooks in the bathroom, library wine and cheese from 4-5 daily, but usually gone before 5 and missed it.Didnt spend much time in the hotel, but location made it easy to stop in whenever needed for a quick recharge.
It was a beautiful place. It has an old French accent to it. We were told many celebrities stay there especially in the Penthouse. The service was excellent and the room my best friend and I stayed in was quite small but cute. There were ftench doors for the bathroom. We liked it that. The continental breakfast was just muffets and apples. I kindly expected more. They served teas, coffees and hot chocolate. The gym was 24 hrs so that was nice. I think we will visit again.
Very clean. Friendly staff. But major updates are needed. For the price? Not worth it. Renovation is happening now according to staff. Beautiful marble staircases and stunning structural details inside and outside of the building. Id give it a 4 star if they didnt use a piece of unpainted wood to almost seal off the air conditioner.
My husband and I stayed here for a business trip and liked it enough to book a second stay a couple years later. The rooms are small, but thats expected in NYC. The bathrooms are nice and updated. The room was a little bit cold, but they gave us a blanket. The bed was not made properly and the mattress pad was exposed at the feet which is unsanitary. The lobby and stairs are absolutely gorgeous though.
Emmm , Honestly not really good experience, the management is not smooth, they lure people in with some promises on the websites they didnt fulfill, all they care is get your money instead of long term customer relationship. Lots of empty promises. The request of installing an AC etc. ( which should be included since its in the online advertisement) has been ignored during my whole stay. Instead of finding a place you call home, you may suffer from unnecessary stress and disappointment, as if life isnt hard already nowadays. Also, they wont refund you with the deposit in full. They will deduct a portion for no good reason at all. Sure, location is not bad but please try to find a better one if you want to save yourself from any trouble, my honest advice, take it or leave it. Thanks.
I really like this place The rooms are really nice and not too expensive not excessively big but not too small comfortable and cozy My complaint about the room I was in was the bathroom was really small but thats it. It has a nice bar attached to it The entrance has a nice old style feel to it I would recommend this place
Talk about kind service!!!!! My family and I went to New York after the 4th, and we had a reservation for two rooms, however when making the reservation we did not specify that we wanted a room with two beds. I didnt care, i volunteered to take the floor, but anyways, after about half an hour, they worked out a deal with us and were very friendly and open about it, they did not complain and didnt tell us to speak to the manager, they stuck in until the end. Very kind service, you dont find that in LA. Rooms were also incredible with AMAZING air conditioning systems and very comfortable beds. Hope to return someday.
I’d give this place a zero if I could. It is a full fledged scam, beware. They had us VENMO them money and a security deposit. It is not ready for anyone to stay there so we requested our money back after the first night . Ned, the manager has hung up on us and any requests for a refund. We will be likely filing a lawsuit and a police report. SCAM.
Room smells bad, broken blinds others can peek in, new towel is dirtier than used towel, makeup stain on bedsheet, and clogged shower drain. What more can you ask for? Oh, hotel entrance door handle can cut your hand and bleed, but hotel will give you a discount of 20 smth dollars so I guess it’s worth it.
Stayed here last year. I loved the location of this place. It is a little dated and seems like a typical dark New York aged hotel still with the old plumbing. I liked it. My room didn’t have views but to be fair I wasn’t in the room that much. But great place to stay.
The only good thing about this hotel is its location. The room is small and the cleanliness is below average. The room is very noisy because of the window AC unit and you can hear all the street noises like the window is open. Impossible to get a good night sleep. The staff is ok but not overly welcoming.
On a Valentines Day Weekend getaway, this was the hotel of choice, because of its advertisement on the website and the best price for parking in the area we were looking in. The manager and staff were very polite and professional. They had a bellhop who brought our bags up to our room. The room that we were in the first night was a bit small, so we requested a different room and they move our the next day and ensured our bags were there the next day. The reason we requested the room change is because the room was tiny, the bathroom was long and skinny, and we didn’t have an outside view. When they moved our room the room to bathroom ratio was better and we had an outside view. Be warn that the walls are thin and you can hear what is going on around you. What disappointed me the most was the valet parking. I am not sure how it works, but it took over an hour and a half for us to get our vehicle (make sure that you request your vehicle well before you checkout). The management did refund us our money for one day of valet parking which was great of him. The location is amazing if you are looking to visit attractions and eat at restaurants. For the price of the room, I was expecting more. Also the bar/restaurant was closed for renovations, but was not published on the website.
The rooms were okay. The hotel has charm that is not revealed while there for a week. A bar, not open. Charged $25 a day for a stale Danish and coffee from a machine. I couldnt get fresh towels even after calling the front desk. Seriously short on amenities. I was disappointed and expected better.
This hotel has amazing service. They had tea and coffee in the library all day and night. No matter what time it was we were greeted at the door. The hotel staff were exceptional and extremely nice even giving us suggestions on places to eat. The rooms were a bit small though if youre out during the day and plan to only sleep at the hotel it wouldnt affect you.
One word. Terrible. First off this appears to be a charming old hotel. It has many interesting qualities. However upon check in I was put in a suite, and told I would love it. I was excited by the prospect, however it was essentially a large room with only a bed in it. Room was extremely hot even though it was only 40 degrees outside. Air conditioner did not work well and could not cool room, it was also extremely noisy. Sirens and street noise all night. No in room refrigerator as promised at booking. Bathroom was tiny and the window was essentially open to outside. No room service is available. No ice machine or water, except for out of the bathroom tap. TV was not from this century, no joke. The straw that broke the camels back (literally) was the bed. It was beyond worn out. Caved in on both sides, springs poking you in the back. Could not sleep at all. I finally dragged myself down to the front desk at 4am and asked for another room. The night manager was very nice and accommodating and got me in to another room where the bed wasnt so bad. When I went to the front desk in the morning the woman manning the desk at that time couldnt have cared less. I ended up checking out and cancelling the rest of my stay.
The room was dirty the shower drained was clogged there was hair on my sheets hair on my pillow like the sheets were never change the trash cans are full the toilet tissue was used the refrigerator was not working and when I mentioned it to the receptionist there was absolutely no apology I will never support their business or stay there again! Booked a hotel for two nights and stayed only one night thats how bad it was I do not recommend this hotel at all
The hotel is cute. Great location. Service in the morning was nice and friendly when we dropped off out bags around 11AM. Check in was at 3PM. There was some snaffoo with the service when we actually tried to check in but it was resolved. Room was large and clean. Comfortable beds and nice decor. Bathroom only set for 2 when they were notified we were 5 but easily resolved. No problem getting a roll away for the room when we asked.
I have to say, I had a very unpleasant stay at this hotel. My hotel standards and expectations are generally not very high, however, I expect a hotel stay where it was $340+/ night to at least deliver on the basic needs. The bathtub was terrible, I was not able to take a proper shower. It was not draining and water got past my ankles. They sent their maintenance to fix it, left and still does not work, sent them again, still does not work.... I am sorry, how hard is it to check if you fixed the issue before you leave, twice? After a long hot day on construction site, I expect to be able to come to a hotel room where I can take a normal shower. This I could not do at this very unpleasant hotel. I expect staff/ management to immediately fix such issues and if not to allow me to change rooms, which apparently was not even an option. To conclude, I do not recommend that you stay at this hotel. Many other surrounding hotels with same price range with much better experience are available.
We stayed hear nearly a dozen times over the last 5 years while we lived in TX. We are originally from NYC. This is the best location and one of the best bangs for your buck. One con of moving back is we don’t get to see our Mansfield Hotel family! Everyone from the front desk, to the bellhops, the doormen, the staff, cleaning pros and the management are just wonderful people. Any problem was usually resolved quickly and professionally. Definitely grab a room that’s slightly bigger than the smallest. You won’t regret this advice.Other guests are usually international, incredibly friendly, respectful and quiet. We never dealt with any noise from other rooms here.Special treat: book yourself one of the two bedroom apartments. We have stayed in all of them and it’s so great to stretch out. We never stayed the Penthouse but have heard stories of how WONDERFUL it is.While yes some rooms are small, as New Yorkers we sleep in our apartments and live in the city. Consider this when picking a place to stay. No good trip to New York City ever involved hours spent in a hotel room, but having wonderful staff and a solid location in Midtown definitely elevates the NYC experience! You’ll feel like a local here, and if not just fuggedaboutit. :)
You can still sense the Old Glitz & Glam of Times Sq with a twist of the down low seedy side that has been dressed up nicely into a boutique type of hotel for the cleaned up version of NYC...pretty and well managed, the rooms are tiny tho... the AC is working hard but can barely keep up with the late summer heat... I wish they would modernize the bathrooms because the marble floors and original wood workings are a precious touch that has become a rarity - I love this gem of a hotel!!!!
This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. We kept wondering how they managed to get 4 stars. They should have 2 stars, maaybe 3 at best.We stayed 11 nights. Price was around 200$ per night, and I bet you can get better value in some other hotels. The one thing that is great, is the location. Everything is close. And it was clean and warm enough. We stayed in Christmas time.Bad things were to many to count so Ill just mention a few I can remember:- ROOM: size was ok for 2 of us. Relatively clean (blinds had an inch of dirt/dust on them), totally outdated (on their pics it actually looks ok, but irl nope). You get a small fridge in the room, no tea, coffe, microwave. You have a hairdryer that turns off automatically if it gets too hot I guess. Smart tv.It was really loud in the room from the noise outside. As if the windows were opened you could feel the cold coming from outside through the air con. I actually took a video of the noise at 5am and in the evening but I cant attach it here. Btw. Room was 503, who knows, maybe some rooms are better...- breakfast, if you can call it that is a joke. Stale pastry, apples and machine for coffe/tea (makes good coffee actually). Not to mention this was in a library - small room with few old chairs, 4 tables, not a place to have breakfast. As I mentioned above, we were there 11 days, not ONCE were the pastries fresh.. Also, so many times we found just a couple of them left.. And they advertised this as a bonus: free breakfast included.. No comment: pics of this included.Staff was ok, nothing special to say here.I wonder how some people rated it excellent, I really do... 2 stars instead of 1 is just because of the location.
Charming, clean, quite (for midtown Manhattan)... The staff was on point. The room was lovely and spacious. My only complaint is that the lighting was too dim for applying make up. But I just moved the lamp and made do. Everything else about the entire stay was amazing. I tried to stay longer but they were completely booked out.
At five in the morning in the middle of tourist season, sleep-deprived and halfway to Manhattan on the train for a meeting, I realized there was no way I was getting through the day without a hotel room on short, short notice. The Mansfield stood out from the rest, both the closest to my meeting and about ten times as nice as anything else with a vacancy for the night, so I didnt hesitate to book immediately.By the time I got to check-in, I was dead on my feet; thankfully, the front desk was very accommodating. My room ended up being an upgrade from what I booked, even, which was an unexpected bonus. All in all: great location, great environment, great stay - I only wish Id had time to enjoy more than just my big, comfy bed before I had to head back. I will definitely be staying again when I next have occasion to visit.
Bathtub drain and sink drain not even covered, just wide open. I went away during the weekend and when I came back this is the amount of sewage gnats on the bathtub. (Easily >40 of them in the bathroom plus one middle sized cockroach that just popped out of nowhere). The rooms are definitely not ready but this is the single room I got and it costs me 2180USD + another 1000 USD for deposit for 4 weeks. (Total is 3180USD for a room with endless gnats flying out of the drain and bites when they are near you. Plus one cockroach)This hotel is currently owned by harrington housing.I posted photos of numerous gnats on the bathtub for proof, but it kept on disappearing on google…
I really wanted to love this place but a series of unfortunate events made me never want to return. Upon arriving we noticed that the bar was ‘closed for remodel’. That was fine, the location was great, we can go anywhere. The bed was hard, and springy. Most definitely not a four star accommodation. We woke the first morning to construction, sanding and hammering (before 9am). It sounded like they were working on a floor just above us. Why wouldn’t they warn us about that?On the second night, we realized the radiator was not working and they sent an engineer to help. He brought us a space heater. We also realized that housekeeping left us two bath towels and no hand towels or wash cloths. The window was broken so we couldn’t crack it, and bathtub hardware was disassembled in the drain, and left there. I didn’t want to call downstairs because I didn’t want to be a pain, but I was really unhappy there. When we were leaving the front seat asked if we had a good stay, we said not really, and didn’t ask anything further. And they went on with their business and charged the resort fee. I asked what for? Wine hour that’s in the middle of the day when guests are likely out and exploring. Breakfast? Which is red apples and mini gross muffins (t’was a joke, really) Coffee? The coffee was even terrible. The tea was lovely though! I paid and was happy to leave.Honestly it’s not four star. I’ve never seen a more appropriate 2.5 star hotel, ever. Come by look at the beautiful architecture inside, woodwork in the library; just don’t spend your money here.
Great location, good renovation attempt. Air conditioning system is too loud and significantly disturbs ones sleep/rest. Furthermore, it doesnt cool. Receptionist tried to pass it off as just a temporary non-functional gadget... Wrong!!! Also bar being renovated but no notice to patrons.
I have read some of the other reviews of the Mansfield, and honestly, our time there was just lovely, and the building has beautiful finishes. Our room was upgraded with no extra cost and we were able to get a room on very short notice, and we were also able to extend our stay with minimal hassle. Our linen was clean, and the bathroom was also sparkling. We did have one loose panel, but youd have to be seriously looking for something to complain about if it was an issue. We had a closet with hangers and a safe in our room too, as well as a small fridge. Complementary breakfast, coffee, and wine hour were absolute life-savers (and delicious), and the location of the hotel is PERFECT. Everything that you could possibly want to see is literally around the corner, and if not, the subway is super close. The staff are so friendly and willing to help with anything, and if I got the opportunity to, I would 100% stay here again. Thank you Mansfield!!
Needed a clean, convenient room for the nite and the Mansfield didnt disappoint. Older hotel but room was updated/funky, CLEAN, nice size bathroom, nothing fancy but functional and reasonably priced. I would try for a room in the back rather than the front as they face the street and a little noisy. Would stay again.
Beautiful decor and architecture. The staff is more than helpful and friendly! They have a breakfast and wine hour included in the fees which arent revealed until after booking the hotel so expect an extra $30 per night. Small rooms, but they are very efficent, with ample storage space and plenty of amenities. They also are very helpful with requests and questions. Honestly for the price, its EXTREMELY hard to find such a good deal so close to times square, I would very much recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Manhattan!
Booked this hotel on a deal after seeing good reviews. The hotel front side was under construction. So could not locate it easily. Reception desk person was very friendly and helped us checkin. But it was disappointment once we entered our room. The room was extremely small and smallest room that i ever stayed. There was a fine bed, good enough for 2 ppl but apart from that there was no space even to move around. Since we stayed just for 1 night we adjusted. Hotel customer service was good and helped us in retaining our luggage while we roamed around downtown.. i wish i could recommend this hotel but since the rooms were so small i hesitate to recommend. Make sure to chk the room size before booking..
Very Nice, Hotel. When I first got here the hotel rooms seemed very small, but turned out to be very cozy and felt just like home. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and courteous. They have the best coffee and tea in the library area which is a great place to get work done. It is right in the heart of all the action, you go left out of the hotel you have times square, you go right you have 5th ave and all it has to offer. All trains are within a 5 minute walk, and from there you can get anywhere.
Worst hotel experience in my life. $408 for two days, and it’s a discounted price.First room they gave me was for disabled people, it wasn’t clean so I️ had to ask them to clean it up. When I️ came back, a/c was working on the mode 60 degrees without possibility to control/regulate it. They called a maintenance man to regulate it manually. It didn’t work so he decided to bring a black trash bag and cover the a/c. When I️ asked how am I supposed to have air to breathe if he is going to close everything, he stopped working and left.I️ called front desk 2 times and told about my willingness to change the room twice in person until I️ was moved to the lower class room (only available), without any tries to make me feel better for the only one day I️ had to explore the city. I️ work 14 hours a day minimum, and I️ didn’t sleep well all week. When I️ was placed to the room where a/c cannot be regulated by guests and is soooooo loud that you wake up every 5 minutes in the night - it’s not what you want to pay for. Worst hotel ever.Man at the reception is very friendly, but he couldn’t help more.
Yes the rooms are small but comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious and everyone at the front desk were great. I did not eat at the restaurant or get room service so I can not recommend the food. I will say the WiFi is pretty bad and the fitness room could use some weights.
This place is a Hidden Treasure in the heart of the concrete jungleThe two bedroom apartment is Ahhmazing.Marble bathtub with enough Aveda products to throw a Brazilian Espuma partyMarble Wet barLiving roomExcellent lobby library with super delish cappuccinoThanks to the Geniuses below who explained what a continental breakfast is. And Venmo is a debit PayPal app so thanks for clearing up how having bad credit might make a four star hotel ask for a deposit in high seasonThis place is gorgeousImpeccably cleanhas a workout roomand the most architecturally beautiful staircase in this cityHappy Travels and stay Fabulous
Our first trip to NYC and The Mansfield was a great choice. Perfect location to everything! We were basically in Times Square and within a 15 minute walk to everything else we wanted to see. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. 24hr coffee and tea bar. Valet parking was nice. Spacious room for5 ppl. We had a wonderful stay. Would stay again.
First off for the price, the room was extremely small and out dated. Staff was not friendly at all! Wi-Fi was terrible, even after paying for it. The bathroom was dirty, and have mold in the shower. The temp in the room, half the time it was hot in the room that we had you open the window. When calling down you see how to adjust the temp, they said they could send someone up. Overall it was the worst experience Ive ever had. Only good thing doing was the pillow are comfortable.
Be Aware, hotel is under new management. If you are choosing this hotel by what the webpage offers be prepared to be really disappointed. Super small rooms, even smaller bathrooms. Old outdated flat screen, phone was having trouble working, no thermostat, no lamps by the beds, not even the cute fancy pillows or robes. No mini bar in room like advertised, theres a big piece of wood half attached to our wall that looks like its going to fall off at any moment. No room service, no bar and no other rooms available, with no offers of anything for inconvenience but an excuse of new management. Save your aggravation.
This is not a 4 star hoteI - It is not even a 2 star hotel. it is in great need of renovation - Avoid at all costs ! I checked out after 1 night but the hotel refused to refund me for the pre-paid 2 additional nights. I was told to escalate it to management. I spent hours on the phone afterwards trying to get a refund to no avail. Do not stay at this hotel!
Friendly staff but when we checked in, we went to the room and five minutes later another guest used a key card to enter into our room...we were all equally confused because the employee just assigned us the room and did the same for the next guest. It was fine in the end. The rooms show a bit of age, but the hardwood floor is nice. The bathroom door didnt fully shut. Also, the radiator is right below the window AC unit and was blowing the hottest air imaginable. Overall, a nice hotel, if you are okay with mediocre.
Dont stay here unless you want to pretend you live in an old overpriced apartment in NYC. I dont say this often but Id take a hotel in times square over this.I would like to say that I have not addressed the below concerns with the staff because I simply dont have the time to have these discussions.1.) Its 27 degrees outside and there is a window AC unit that is letting in cold air and no thermostat to control room temperature. Completely unacceptable for any hotel in winter. Also letting in a LOT of street noise.2.) Extremely dim lighting, no way to actually light up the room, even though the room is tiny.3.) Basic Internet is horrendous and when I tried paying for more my name wouldnt work. To be fair I could have gone to the front desk to resolve but I gave up and just used my phone which is faster than even their most expensive plan.3.) Tiny bathroom, tiled step up that you can trip over. Bathroom door when open means room door cant open. No counter space for toiletries.4.) Window bench was stained5.) Most buttons on Tv remote dont work6.) Toilet flusher and shower knob flimsy and broken7.) No refrigerator, no coffee maker8.) Location of room windows let in very little sunlight. Left side blinds broken (1 of 3)9.) You have to lug your bags up a set of stairs when you walk in which is a minor nuisance but annoying10.) Hostess / desk staff explained nothing about the hotel, seemed preoccupied and just kind of handed me my key. Said nothing about breakfast, bar events, library... amenities. Im assuming thats because they just dont have amenities or events. Some positives are the bed is comfortable and I like the look of the room, nice hardwood floors and it is very cosy and historic, but that shouldnt have to mean completely unequipped.
Stayed here 3years ago with my wife, Daughter & Husband, and Her inlaws,. Although the rooms were on the small side they were clean and comfortable,a nice Hotel ,centrally located, friendly staff, complimentary coffee machine in lounge,. All six of us enjoyed our stay
I would give this hotel zero stars if I could. Long story short - my office travel agent booked a 4-night stay at the hotel. When my plans changed, I called the hotel directly and booked an extra night. When I checked in, they told me the extra night had been cancelled. The following night I confirmed I did indeed need the extra night with their front desk staff. They confirmed this was fine and I was all set. Every night, this same staff person who extended the reservation recognized me when I arrived at the hotel and called me by name.Well, fast-forward to tonight while attending my company holiday party and the travel agent emails and tells me the hotel can’t get ahold of me (never received any communication from them) and that my stuff is still in the room and to call her ASAP. (Meaning I’m supposed to be checked out, even though they extended the reservation.)Livid, I called the hotel and was confronted by an extremely rude staff member “Red” who insisted their staff is not able to change reservations. What?! When I stood there two days earlier and was told I had an extra room, no problem?? So I decide to go back to the hotel and talk to them after the travel agent assures me she called and all is fine and all I have to do is present my keys and they’ll re-key them. I arrive at the hotel (after walking in the cold December rain) and hand to God, the front desk agent is on the phone talking about me to someone, saying “She’s at her Christmas party, when she gets here should I kick her out?” (This is a verbatim quote.) And this is after I’ve been assured by the agent all is fine. I waited until “Red” was off the phone and calmly asked who had checked me in on Monday (so I could formalize my complaint.) He refused. He then asked me what the issue was, and I explained that I had a problem with my reservation. He then insisted I needed to present my personal credit card (for a room rate of $800 that I overheard on the very unprofessional phone call, when I know the max rate paid by the agent was $399.) I asked why I couldn’t have the stay booked on the same company card and he said it was because it needed to be authorized 2 weeks in advance. Mind you these plans were scheduled less than a week prior, so I know that’s not the case.In the end, I decided I could and would not stay at a hotel where I was being treated so unprofessionally with horrible customer service and frankly, highway robbery in terms of room rate, was “escorted” to my room to remove my belongings and was then argued with when I asked for a bill summary (Red kept insisting it was sent to the travel agent, when my personal credit card was presented for incidentals at check in.) OF COURSE I’m not going to leave without a receipt when I have just been through an entire situation of being told I was all set and then coming back to no reservation. DO NOT STAY HERE. PS: When I was waiting at the desk to extend my stay on Tuesday, another livid guest was being told they didn’t have a reservation either. Coincidence?? I doubt it. This is truly the most horrible customer service experience I have ever had. If they had just apologized and acknowledged the mistake I would have just stayed there and paid the rate. Instead, they dug their heels in and tried to blame the customer. Horrible.
This place is a dump and looks NOTHING like the photos. Small, rickety elevators were the first sign. Then food garbage in the hallways outside other rooms on our floor (left there OVER a day.) By the time we reached the room our expectations were low, but it was even worse. I didn’t know hotels ANYWHERE made rooms this small. It was hard to walk around the bed, had to squeeze past to reach the bathroom, which was fairly nice despite having old closet doors for entry. The cushion of the window seat had horribly large stains on it. Bed creaked. Reading light above the bed didn’t work. Room was ice cold with no manual temperature control. NOT WORTH $40 let alone the nearly $200 we paid for one night. Do not stay here.
It is a scam!when we booked the hotel we didnt pay attention they wrote in the bottom of the reservation in small letters that there will be additional $25!!! per day!!! for facility fees.when we checkout we have found that...when we asked what is it for, we were told that it is for the gym, the lounge and the breakfast which we didnt ask for or use!for the same total rate you could find better hotels!!Unfortunately, I was not the only one that got scammed by them, in the checkout we saw 2 more couples trying to fight it with no luck...do yourselves a favor and book somewhere else!!
No bueno!!! I booked this hotel through the Hotel Tonight app which usually has exceptional properties that are deeply discounted on the day of your arrival. The rate was very good but again that not unusual for the properly vetted hotels through the HT service. I paid for an upgrade to suite that offered a bit more space. Midtown hotels are not know for their large room space, however, this property is just too shabby for me. No valet on a block with 5 other hotels that offer valet is just bad for business. The lighting was terrible in our room, there were unknown stains all other the microfiber sofa, the bathroom is so small you cannot sit down proper to use the toilet and there was an active leak above the sink from the floor above. It was just dirty. Really dirty. I dont think just because the hotel offers a lower rate it should not be a well maintained property. There are other hotels in the city that offer competitive pricing that are far better than this hotel. =(
One of the worst hotel experiences! There were warning signs I ignored? Went to extend our stay by arriving early and was forced to go back to Expedia and come to find out I was over charged by Expedia!! Staff was not friendly or helpful beyond the person who helped with the luggage! Rooms were extremely small and the loudest A/C window unit I have ever heard! I would not recommend this property to anyone!
Terrible. Would give them zero stars if possible. Dust in all corners of the room. Air conditioner was duct taped to stay on and provide insulation. Room was tiny, bathroom sink located outside the bathroom. An oversized closet with a bed is what youll get. Service was pretty good though. Thanks priya for helping us cancel our stay and find an actual four star hotel
The operative word is small. Small elevators, small washrooms, small inconveniences. Nice location, friendly staff. An older hotel, with lots of age related mechanical noises: creaky elevator, loud air conditioner, and thin walls that let in the sounds of the metropolis. It is pretty, but pretty far from someplace I will stay again.
Ok, here is my honest review. I hope this helps someone else when searching for a hotel in NYC. First impressions were awesome. We were able to check into our room hours early and the doormen were super helpful. It went downhill from there. The room was so small it made me feel like I was in a closet. The sink was in the bedroom because the bathroom was so small you couldnt even sit on the toilet and close the door. There was very little lighting in the room so it was dark and dreary. We had no intentions to be in the room for more than sleep so we didnt mind all that much. The bed and pillows were comfy. But OMG....very very little sleep for us that night because our room faced the street and workers were putting up scaffolding all night across the street! It was horrible!! The bar was not opened and there are no vending machines so we had to walk a couple blocks just to get water. And dont except breakfast for free. You had to pay $9.99 for doughnut and some coffee! Not much else! Definite bonus was that it was close enough to walk to a lot of sites we wanted to see during our time there. And as much as I could see with the terrible lights..it looked clean.
Horrible. The hotel says it is a 4 star, but this is completely FALSE. It has a 1 star service for a 4 star price. Very Old rooms with a bad smell. Make sure to check under the covers before u sleep cause i found lots of hairs under the sheets the day i checked in (so it could not be mine at all). I told this at the reception, and they gave me a voucher for a very bad and low budget breakfast at the hotel. The Mansfield does not care for his customer at all, but they have no problem for charging u a heavy price for its terrible service and hotel amenities. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place!
The Mansfield Hotel was an excellent choice for a night out in the city. Location is prime, right off 5th avenue and a short walk to Times Square. All staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was elegantly historic, albeit a bit small. I would absolutely stay here again!
Great customerservice skills on all the ends from the bellman to the night auditor to the GSA .. stayed there 2nights nice library nice rooms great A.C ..great location. had a small issue with my authorization hold and the manager erik was real attentive responded within 15minutes to my email and is currently working on my case.. thanks mansfield hotel
Having stayed at the Mansfield many times, this is one of my favorite NYC hotels. I really like the European feel, the comfy beds, the library area, and the fabulous bar. The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is relaxed. This is a hotel I highly recommend; I eagerly look forward to my next stay.
My expirence at this hotel was very poor. The phone in the room didnt work and you practically had to call down for everything even to change the AC temperature in our room. And there was about 6 lights in the whole hotel room including lamps and unneeded light switches to.There wasnt any basic needs in the hotel I was shocked. Also you had to pay for wi-fi. You have to pay for a lot of your basic needs in that hotel. I can tell you thats the worst hotel I have been to. And I travel a lot. Its crazy (if there was a zero I would use it)
I stayed several months ago. The rooms were very nice if on the small side. The hotel was once a bachelor hotel and was designed by the architect of St Patricks. It has a film noir feel to it that is really great. Like a movie from the 1930s. The service was above par, the staff friendly and helpful. Its a short walk to Times Square or the theater district. Due to a recent change in ownership they did not have their liquor license during my stay but the bar /restaurant was very cozy. And again, very friendly staff. The hotel has a quaint library in it and a coffee machine which was just so-so in terms of coffee. Across the street is a diner which serves very good food. A Walgreens is close by if you need anything. Its a great location. The room was clean, the sheets fresh, the bed comfortable. I would be happy to return to this hotel. I had a very nice 4 days stay there.
The room is small but clean and cozy. If sunshine is your thing, skip the Mansfield. My room had windows, but no sun can get to them. If charming and historic is your thing, youve found your place. Wood floors, crown moulding, marble stairs, all the best. Service isnt what Ive had at other locations, but I dont care so much about a doorman, bellman, etc.
On the pictures it looks nice, but behind that facade another reality exists. The heating was not working during the full stay. Everytime the engineer had another excuse. Staff did not act on what they promised and frankly did not seem to care. Multiple times I contacted management, via the reception or by email, but no reaction.Icing on the cake was a big cockroach flying through the corridor next to my rooms entrance. My advice: stay as far away from this hotel as you can.

2021-11-18My stay at Harrington housing was a wonderful transition from living in Miami. I would argue that this housing company is the best in New York if you are a student or young professional who is looking for a comfortable experience. Moreover, the team at Harrington is always kind and considerate of each residents needs. Along with the wonderful staff, the move into the apartment was seamless. My room was fully furnished and the appliances were included upon my arrival. In terms of the location, it is fantastic and close to supermarkets, parks and great restaurants. I would not not hesitate to recommend Harrington Housing to any student looking for a top of the line room in the heart of Manhattan.

2021-12-01The Mansfield Residence - from the moment I stepped in I knew it would be a pleasant experience. Just love the library on the first floor, feels nostalgic with the sliding wheeled ladder and warm wooden design. Loved the room, great height with bold picture rail accents. Not to mention the perfect water pressure, sometimes hard to find in the city. Staff were very kind and helpful! Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the Mansfield Residence and would definitely return and recommend!

2021-11-16Awesome location and helpful staff. Easy to get to the red and green lines. Lobby lounge area is a nice place to hang out and meet other guests or travelers. Also has a gym with a few machines I used every day. Room was comfortable with a classy NY vibe.

2021-11-19I came from texas as a student to this residence, it was very hard to find a place that was clean and accommodating. After having several mishaps with housing, I was pleasantly surprised to find this place in such a prime location right next to Bryant park, my favorite spot in the city! The building was clean, felt an amazing sense of community among other students and Eram and Ned were both very accommodating with anything that I needed and got to me right away. If you are looking for a place that feels both like home and a luxury hotel, I recommend this place to anyone! I told all my friends to try and book with them as well. 10/10 New York living experience after hearing so many horror stories.

2021-11-16This is the best affordable housing option you’re going to find in NYC. The rooms are VERY clean, they’re well designed, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. As someone who has dealt with countless rooms in NYC, this is now the only one I tell people about.I really can’t recommend them enough.

2022-06-25Stayed at the Mansfield for 4 months. I most say that I had a great experience, the staff, especially Ali and Mike, were awesome. Location was perfect for my internship, close to a lot of good food, stores, Time Square, subway, and Bryant Park. Can highly recommend it for students staying for a few months! You get to meet people from all over the world and you canmake friends easily.I do not see myself as a guest but rather a resident and I know I will always have a home when i come back in NYC!

2022-02-27Horrible and disgusting place! I would give 0 star or negative if possible! They will take all your money at the beginning so that if you decide to leave because of bad service or unbearable room situation, you cant. You will lose thousands of dollars because of this so called student housing. It will only work if you are filthy rich and dont mind loosing couple of thousand dollars every now and then. Or if someone else is paying for you. But other way this place is kind of a scam. They dont have any of their employees based in USA, so you cant talk to them face to face. All the rooms more or less have AC problem, heating problem, rooms are like worse than a show box, there is no hot water in the bathroom. Also, they will give you a dirty room and then charge you extra for giving their cleaning lady! There is no closet space so you keep your cloths on the floor! Their booking manager named Rose is an imaginary person who only contact via email and she is such an unreasonable and inauthentic being, they all ask you to leave early after taking your money in advance and they will never give your deposit back! Please stay away from this place. They took over a hotel and tried to market it as a student housing but the truth is they dont do anything in your favor. The dont give you basic things a person require. No closet, dirty room, no heat or AC, and forget about your deposit and also they will force you to leave early so that they can benefit from someone else!
