The Maritime Hotel in New York
Excellent location opposite of Chelsea market and High Line. Ultra clean. Cozy rooms - small, but very practical. Bathroom was aseptic-clean. The design concept resembles a 1930s Ocean Liner. The lobby looks like a bourbon bar where you never want to leave. Friendly staff. Definitely a pretty good place and our preferred NYC hotel.
What a gem of a hotel!I loved the location. So close to so many things - Little Island, Chelsea market, the HighLine, the Hudson. We laughed that most places we wanted to go were under a mile away. The lobby is very cute. A library feel. We didn’t try to the breakfast, but nice self serve setup and options. The rooms are small (not for New York), but well laid out with space for luggage, seating, etc. love the plugs and lights on each side of the bed. Very convenient.Shower was wonderful. Great water pressure and a miracle half door yet water doesn’t splash out. Well done.Thank you for providing more shampoo & conditioner!! Great products and I appreciate them being replenished.I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Thanks for a great stay!
I stayed for a week over Thanksgiving -- I was in a queen room for four nights and upgraded to a Terrance Penthouse while my sister was in town. We LOVED the hotel, and our room. The hotel was quiet, and a subway station was at the other end of the block. The staff was friendly and low-key. But what we liked the most was our room: it was 1,000 SF, and the hotel brought up a twin bed for my sister. The room had great light, plently of space to move around, a huge bathroom, and all sorts of comforts including robes, quality bedding and nice toiletries. We agreed that the room really made out trip, because we had somewhere spacious to hang out at night and talk. Id stay again in a heartbeat!
Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. And this is solely due to the “night manager” Jose something. After coordinating a surprise for my wife with the other wonderful staff and management, this POS decided to play his “I’m a manager card” toBe rude and tell me the paying customer to shut up and that he didn’t believe I was the husband. Completely ruined our anniversary surprise and also threatened to fire the other employees that allowed me to check in to the room that I’m laying for. Complete inherent power scum to a tee. I hope the hotel executives see this and kindly remove this non gentleman from their staff asap. Further more the room they placed us in has a broken toilet and was dirty. Jose decided to not do anything for us and terribly upset my wife and myself. Thanks for the great memory of New York City Jose….
Honestly, if I could give 4.5 stars, that would feel more accurate. We stayed on 10th floor towards back of building and this is a 2nd stay in a span of 5+ years.Pros:-Good location in proximity to sights, close to trains, easy to get cabs.-Lobby/lounge area by fireplace is beautiful, comfy, mostly quiet (bring headphones for loud talkers) for catching up on a bit of work.-Coffee is good and they offered apples, dainty pastries, yogurt.-Room is comfy.. our room this time was spacious (again in the context of NY space), bedding was nice, furnishings were pretty, there was a table to work (but using the lobby was preferred for us).-The entire staff is stellar! Responsive, friendly, didnt give off odd vibes. I forgot a charging cord for my galaxy and they had one to use!-Clean... for an old NY building-Fairly quiet, conditionally. Our 10th floor room, towards back of building, was quiet and protected from doors slamming, elevators, no other room noises next to or above.Cons:-2 bar/clubs adjacent to the hotel (but not directly beneath), and while 2 of 3 nights were quiet, one night was hoppin! which is fine if you want to be near easy access to a night out, but if we had stayed on a lower floor, I have a suspicion the noise may have kept us awake.-The usual NYC street noise, expected for this level of hotel in this neighborhood-- if you are super sensitive to noise, you will have to stay in the Uppers, or 5th/Park avenues in a luxury high rise, for around $1000+/night.. (just saying). Or bring earplugs just in case.. and ask for a higher floor.-The rooms/building is old and though clean, some of the structural parts of the room (closets, carpet) were definitely showing a bit of wear/tear as well as had an odor, the carpet in particular. I have a super sensitive smell.. I could smell the sour carpet when I lay down to sleep. But again... I have an annoyingly acute sense of smell, so another may not notice. The closets had an old, stale smell, and the room smelled like smokers had stayed there in the past. But again, me and my nose. And also, for about $350/night in NY, I didnt expect a penthouse fit for Madonna.Overall, our stay was comfy, convenient, well-priced, and safe. I would highly recommend and stay again!
Just enjoyed a weeklong stay at the Maritime. I really enjoyed it. The room is small, but cozy and comfortable. I was on the 10th floor, and my room was quiet with a nice view of the city and a peek of the Hudson River. The bathroom is nice, with nice shower pressure and toiletries. The staff is fantastic and helpful. The location imo can’t be beat. I love this part of the city. Cabs come in 3/4 min and the train is close. Chelsea Market is right across the street. The lobby is quiet and a welcome respite after a day out. Would definitely stay here again.
Finally stayed here for the first time after years of being curious about the portals. When I had a work emergency after I checked out, the front desk were beyond helpful and so kind. I love the theme of the hotel a s found the staff to all be thoughtful and accommodating.
I rarely leave reviews for hotels but I feel compelled to leave one for the Maritime. This boutique has a lot of character. It is nautical themed without feeling cheap or cheesy. The decor has the feel of a luxurious vintage ocean liner. The room is comfortable and well-appointed, with great views of Chelsea. Location is great, a few minutes walk from the high line, the West Village, and the 14th st Subway. It’s across the street from Chelsea Market, offering tons of amazing food options (try Very Fresh Noodles). Hotel has free breakfast until 10:30am. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall, this hotel is a great, charming oasis from the bustle of Manhattan. Highly recommend the Maritime!
Two particularly nice things:1) complimentary breakfast in the lobby. Pretty good spread. Though I was disappointed with the coffee. Its New York , where, generally the coffee game is strong.2) I was welcomed with a bottle of wine in my room and a welcome back again note. I thought that was a nice touch. I dont know if it was complimentary and I only stayed one night so didnt have time to enjoy it. If it was meant to be free, thats amazing customer experience. If its not free, then its a bit misleading how it was set up and I could see somebody mistakenly drink it thinking its free.Overall good hotel, great location.
I stayed there 3/2019.THE GOOD: Rooms are very clean, and pretty quiet; comfortable bed; bathroom is very cool with the circular window (which you can open!); fantastic location; good continental breakfast; free wifi; great service and staff. THE BAD: The rooms are very small - if you pack heavy you will be lacking for room to walk; lobby is dated and dark; ice machine is only available via room service; no king size bed was available. SUMMARY: I would definitely stay again. Location, cleanliness, staff outweigh the size of the room and lack of king size bed.
Stayed here for work and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. The lobby serves breakfast in the mornings and they offer a variety of services including bike rentals and massages. My room was clean and you get these cute porthole style windows to look out over the city. Depending on what floor you are on the view might not be great, but service was good and I had a great time.
Great staff, comfortable beds and boy howdy did they lean into the theme. Room was a touch cramped, but comfortable and has more than its fair share of amenities. Minibar was even reasonable. Staff were great, from Danielle at check in to ... actually I think she checked us out too. Breakfast is truly continental, so dont expect eggs or a hot bar. Coffee was good.
Rooms were a little small. Quality was nice, lobby was fantastic. Comfy and warm. Door hops were very helpful with luggage, parking, and holding the door. Front desk staff seemed very knowledgeable about places to go and nice food to eat. Maintenance was prompt and friendly when replacing a mattress.
A good hotel, interesting theme and the breakfast was good. the staff are helpful and check in and out was painless. The location is also good. The main reason i am dropping a star is that everything in the room is charged even the bottle of water. I only found out on my last night you need to go to the Basement and into the gym where they have free bottled water. I am not sure why something this basic is hidden away
I only have two complaints however those 2 are pretty major to me. The bed was TERRIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE, very hard and made a lot of noise. The bathroom was small which is normal for NYC but the toilet was practically on top of the sink, TMI but you can’t even wipe or anything comfortably because it is so awkwardly close to the sink. The location is amazing, we have stayed all over NYC but we love this area (Chelsea). The hotel staff was nice, the lobby was very cute, room decor was cute, loved the amenities like soaps etc. VERY convenient subway route if flying in from JFK.
I really admire the hospitality and extra effort put forth by the general manager and the staff to make staying at the Maritime so welcoming and enjoyable. A “welcome back” note from the manager and a bottle of wine is a nice touch! 🍷On top of that, I always try to book here when I am in the city due to the prime location, friendly staff, clean rooms, and daily breakfast. The in-room dining options are also nice: CatchSteak and Tao Downtown are both solid and diverse options to choose from.
Wonderful, relaxing hotel. Our room was so comfortable. And the lobby area was very sophisticated yet also so welcoming. We enjoyed a great glass of wine along with this terrific dessert. The location was perfect - right near so many shopping areas. Looking forward to our next visit.
I spent a quick weekend in New York here and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. The room was clean and had great decor and the continental breakfast was perfect. However, what made my experience so great was the staff. Every person I interacted with was so genuinely helpful and nice. They answered all of my questions and offered great suggestions from traveling within the city to where to go for dinner. I want to make a special shout out to Antonio at the front desk because he was so sweet and funny and made my stay at The Maritime so memorable. I will definitely be returning here next time Im in New York.
Its one of my favorite hotels. Always impeccable. Gracious staff always willing to go that extra step to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They are very informed about the local area, new dining hot spots, events and new things to do and see in the city. Rooms are large and comfortable and very cozy wood paneling makes the atmosphere inviting and cozy. The local Bigelow bath products are a nice a nice nod to the neighborhood.
Rooms on the small side, but perfect for business travel. Mini bar was stocked amazingly well, everything from the standard beverages to Emergen-C in case you get sick. There were some loud guests during one my nights and the complementary ear plugs did not help, luckily I brought my own. No bathtub if thats your thing, but the shower was very clean and stocked with nice products. Lobby is super cozy in winter with comfy chairs and a fire. Free breakfast each morning will be enough to get you by.
We recently stayed at this amazing hotel and will definitely go back. Firstly the staff are amazing. Very attentive and very professional. I had emailed the day before to ask a question and explained that we were there to celebrate our engagement. When we walked into our room there were two bottles of amazing wine waiting for us with two very beautiful and personal notes wishing us congratulations on our engagement. The hotel is a true piece of unique design genius. The attention to every detail is incredible. Everything is immaculate and top quality. The hotel is a little oasis in NY, is perfectly situated and just a block from the Hudson River and the incredible HighLine which is a real must. Thank you for making our stay truly wonderful.
The best. Excellent hotel. So happy to have spent Christmas here. Cosy, with a thermostat that was just for our room. Excellent high pressure shower with a rainfall head. Big deep bathtub. Nice bathrobes. Great breakfast spread. Luxurious bed, bigger rooms than we expected, high quality traditional decor. Very helpful staff. Wonderful lobby area with a fire and comfy couches to sit on. No wait on elevators. Doorman at most times of the day. Fridge space. Nice bathroom toiletries. Excellent housekeeping staff that cleaned our room as soon as we walked out. Great view. Very affordable and so worthwhile. We absolutely loved staying here and will never stay anywhere else again.
This hotel has an air of old school hospitality that was so refreshing! There is so much attention to detail that makes the rooms cozy and welcoming. Yes, the rooms are small - its New York after all. However, the decor is full of features designed to make the rooms seem bigger than they are: wall mirrors, hidden shelves by the bed, euro glass shower, rain shower head, flush towel rack to name a few. The marble shelf in the shower which eliminates the need to bend over to reach toiletries on the floor; the wide marble sink base which down plays not only the small sink but also the lack of counter; the small tile on the walls...the list goes on. Oh and I appreciate the quality toiletries provided. I will be sure to book here again on my next trip to NYC!
Very convenient location, nice staff and unique interiors in the lobby. Rooms are reasonable, although they look and even smell a bit like ship quarters. Bed was way too soft, only soft pillows and really itchy fabric which made me uncomfortable the two nights I stayed here. Have heard good things about breakfast but did not try.
Polite staff, good clean rooms. Really enjoyed my stay here. Shower was awesome. Nice size and selection of toiletries was decent. Large shower head so good jet of water. Bar downstairs was also busy which I dont often see at hotel bars. Quite social hotel. Will stay again. Only reason I gave 4 stars was that even on 9th floor traffic was a little noisy (but they do provide ear plugs but I was so tired I managed to fall asleep even with the beeping of cars) and the room decor was a little old fashioned for my liking. But nothing wrong with it just personal preference on style.
We loved our stay! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very relaxing and comfy rooms. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Also enjoyed the complimentary evening wine, beer and cheese from 5PM-10PM. The Mexican restaurant a few doors down is really an excellent place too.
Perfect location if you want to be in the Chelsea / west village area, the Chelsea market is right next door, the Whitney museum is 8 mins walk.Their breakfast can definitely be improved, I think it’s their “-1 star” for me. There is a blue bottle not far from here ;)The rooms are neat, the staff are very welcoming.Oh yea they need a solution for the stairs to get to the reception, when you have luggage it isn’t convenient.
Cozy and stylish hotel in the heart of Chelsea. Beautiful and relaxed lobby, very friendly service, small but comfortable rooms make our stay a good experience. I didnt like that tea/coffeemaking equipment was available only on request as I believe it is a standard for 4 star hotels. Also the breakfast was below expectations, (again not matching with hotel starring). Price/quality ratio rather poor as this a pretty expensive hotel.Overall 4/5.
Fantastic independent hotel near the meatpacking district. Less than a block from Chelsea market and across the street from the Google NY offices. Rooms are small, but beautifully appointed and QUIET which is pretty rare in NYC. Staff was absolutely wonderful. Walking distance from the Whitney Museum of American Art and tons of great restaurants. Definitely worth checking out for your next trip - The Maritime Hotel has everything you need, great location, great service and great rooms!
My wife and I stayed 4 nights here and loved the location and comfort this hotel offers. Upon first entering the hotel off 16th and ascending the steps you enter a calm and peaceful lobby. The blue and wood tones are soothing in sharp contrast the grey and black of the city outside. Everything is very thoughtful and beautifully designed. The restaurant/bar is one of the best I’ve been in. Even though we had rain on our stay it was enough just to sit by the window and watch the world go by. I highly recommend getting a night, or two or three, here.
Update: the rooms remain clean but the issues are adding up. I had a leaky toilet this stay and my last. This time they transferred me to a different room. Bell hops arent friendly anymore and tried to hold my baggage when I wouldnt tip. He didnt believe that if had the front desk call them twice 10-15 mins apart and I missed my ride. Why would I up if you dont respond or show up then argue with me? Then they wanted me to wait outside ... I told them to go get their story straight with the front desk. There are enough other options for my every 6 week trips to NYC that Ill.look for one thats more consistent like Maritime was when I started using them 8 years ago....Old review: Super friendly. Clean rooms. NYC standard size might feel small to some.
Unique hotel in Chelsea/Meatpacking District. Highly artistic and interesting lobby that doubles as the hotels personal library- hundreds of books filled on several bookshelves. Two internal food options (TAO /Catch Steak). Wireless landline phone in room, safe, & minibar inside the wood infused closets. Large round windows (portholes) that simulates the marine feel of the hotel as does the wood paneling throughout. In walking distance of the Subway station at 14th Street.
Horrible smell throughout the floor our room was on. (Think vomit and cleaning solution) Complained numerous times but nothing was done.Strong sound of the air coming through the vents. If that didnt keep you awake, the strong sensation of bass from the club next door did.We told them it was our anniversary yet they didnt go the smallest extra mile to do anything nice for us.No ice in the room or anywhere available on the floor.Rooms extremely small with very dated decor.A maritime themed hotel is a great idea but this place looks (and smells) like the hotel that time forgot. Very disappointed.
Great location, attentive staff, fantastic restaurants and hotel lounge on site. There was attention to detail in the amenities provided too, like getting a slightly nicer toothpaste/shampoo brands. Some return guests even got a complimentary bottle of wine! Itd get a full 5 stars from me if it werent for the slightly smaller and oddly located television, and the portable speaker in the room that wasnt portable and only supported 3.5mm jack.
The hotel is conveniently located, its close to Chelsea market and 14 street/8av metro station. The room is clean and adequate. You can also enjoy a modest but complimentary breakfast in their restaurant which was very nice. The reason why it gets 4 stars is because the walls are thin and the doors are not soundproof. I could hear phone conversations and music going on next door. To give them credit, when I called the front desk to address the issue they did resolve it quickly. And the pipe under the sink was leaking, and their complimentary bathroom products were more tailored to men (scent-wise). But overall a satisfactory stay.
Great hotel, staff was extremely nice and offered great hospitality. Hotel room was so cut and very clean. Loved the bathroom and the set up of the room. The area was pretty good, there is some activity/noise throughout the night but Im use to the it (city girl) so that did not bother me. Overall I had a great time staying at this hotel (reminds me of a ship lol) will definitely recommend this place
This is an authentic full service welcoming hotel. Its marine them is well set by design, not by simply hanging a picture of a boat and some blue painted walls. The rooms are cozy, wonderful bed, gym, restaurant, bikes you can use. The front desk is friendly and quick with service. It is well worth the money when staying in NY. Besides, Chelsea Market is basically across the street.
Good service and friendly staff. The rooms are a bit small, but comfortable and include all the standard amenities, including a mini fridge tucked away in the closet. Internet and breakfast are also included and DVDs can be borrowed from the front desk if youre staying in for the night.
The website is very misleading in terms of the experience you will get at the Maritime Hotel. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected in NYC. My issue is that it sells itself as a 4/5 star and the decor makes it feel that way, but things are worn, falling apart and the service is mediocre at best. Their key cards get demagnetized really easily (even without it being near other cards or phone). Every day I was there I had to go back downstairs to get a new card and there was hardly any apology. On one day I had to go back downstairs three times. For a hotel that is still $300+ a night it should have better service. Would it kill them to do turn down service?
The valets are great, the staff is very accommodating, and the rooms make use of the space well. Everything is nautical, and the giant circular window in your room is really pulls it all together and gives you a great view. Bonus, there are little shelves built in to the side of the bed for your phone.
Given its name, its not surprising that the Maritime Hotel is nautically themed. Its well executed and features a classic aesthetic. My stay was pleasant and the rooms were clean and quiet. The large porthole windows feature views overlooking Chelsea towards Hudson yards.
I love this hotel. I didnt give it 5 starts because its haunted. I know thats not the fault of the hotel and it actually adds some character. But sometimes Im stressed at work and Id rather not have a ghost creeping me out. Otherwise, the hotel staff is super friendly and on top of it (they always remember me when I come around), its clean, toiletries are great, its quiet (you arent sandwiched between 8 popular nightclubs on every floor), and there is great room service. You just need to get past the haunted boat thing. Which is endearing and slightly creepy.
Fancy hotel with classical and nautical influences. Great staff and amenities, though the complementary breakfast was lacking. Not all rooms come with a view. Room 201s window showed a grey wall. On my stay it was a particularly windy night and the shape of the window caused the wind to make a loud whistling effect that kept me up. All lights in the room are dimmable, which is a pleasant surprise.
Negatives: the cleaning staff was at our door at 9 am everyday and if we didn’t have the do not disturb sign up then they were asking when we would leave. I’ve never experienced that at any other hotel and I’ve stayed at lots of them. They also stopped giving us toiletries after 4 days into our 8 day stay. It’s a bit expensive and the drinks at the bar are super expensive. Tao night club is below so if you’re staying on the lower levels then you’ll end up staying up until past 4 am when it closes. We were on the 8th level and heard cars honking all night long in front of the nightclub. It’s expected in New York but we’ve stayed in busier areas and didn’t have that much taxi noise outside of our window. The shower also never seemed to be cleaned and when we put some of our baby’s food and bottle in the fridge they emptied out everything but our few things from the fridge so we didn’t get cold sodas and juices if we wanted. There also isn’t an easy way into the hotel if you’re handicapped or have a stroller.Positives: great location! It’s a 30 minute walk to several attractions and Chelsea Market is across the street. Definitely go there! The breakfast was okay but the drinks were delicious (better be for how much they cost!). The building itself is really neat looking and the inside looks like something Ernest Hemingway would love! It was super cozy and welcoming. The staff was incredible! The front desk was helpful and the doormen helped me carry my daughter’s stroller down the stairs daily. They use CO Bigelows toiletries and they are amazing. The bed was also amazing! It was firm but not too firm. I slept like an angel. They provide small pack n plays with sheets and towels for your baby as well. It’s really a very picturesque hotel. The rooms are small but it’s New York, we stayed in much smaller. Being small, we still had a table, two chairs, and a desk in our room with 2 adults and an infant. We had plenty of space. The coffee was delicious too! I would highly recommend staying here but if you want good housekeeping services then leave your room by 9 am.
Smallish room for the price, tiny bathroom with leaky faucet and toilet bowl wont stay open due to the counter being too close behind it. Bed is nice and comfy. If price was a bit more reasonable would probably give 4 stars since I can live with a few bathroom quirks.
We had a wonderful stay on april 3, 2019. The staff is exceptional!!, friendly, helpful and conscientious, reaching out to assist guests at every opportunity. The hotel is very quiet, and very clean and well maintained for an older property. While the rooms are small, they are updated with wifi, usb, mini bar, soaking tubs, rain showers and terry robes. Definitely a good value and good location for NYC.
Despite its slightly outdated rooms, the Maritime is currently my hotel of choice for all sorts of reasons. 1) premium selection of toiletries 2) very friendly service and staff 3) continuous personal recognition by hotel management to returning guests. To get 5 stars: improve the breakfast service and have staff consistently on-hand.
Awesome, yet sliiiightly dated 4-star hotel. I booked through Hotel Tonight. Room was neat, clean, and only slightly worn. Has bedbug-preventing mattress covers, which I deem to be a requirement in any NYC hotel. The pillows are VERY light/squishy, so bring a firmer one if you need it. Amenities were top notch - was not expecting a fridge and minibar in a Manhattan hotel - and you can get room service of the entire menu from TAO, which is below the hotel. You can also get wine service in the lobby. Great view of Chelsea outside our window too. Chelsea Market, Starbucks Roastery, NY pizza joints, and several other awesome things are nearby. Highly recommend, and would stay here again myself!
Top notch hotel. The place is excellently run. I feel like I need to preface the review with the fact the hotel is nothing special (apart from the nautical theme!), but everything was just perfect. The staff were all super, super nice and helpful. Flawless team they have going there. The room was a good size considering where it is. Nothing was outstanding in the room but it had absolutely everything that you could think of. Amenities in the room were on point, even providing ear plugs. There was construction outside replacing water pipes or something and there was a lovely letter from Matt the manager apologising profusely for the disruption which the hotel obviously have zero control over which I though was above and beyond.Breakfast was no frills again, but perfect. No complaints.Location is great.Bed was super comfy and I slept well every single night.Gym is nice (no pool though but you cant win them all).If I try and play devils advocate and find something I didnt like, itd be the price of beer! Drinks in the hotel bar were not cheap! No biggy as there are plenty of real nice bars within 5 mins of the hotel open late.10/10 would return again.
The nautical theme in the lobby and throughout the hotel is kind of fun and the porthole type windows add a bit of something special. The rooms are a bit small, but very comfortable and nicely kept. Staff was quite professional and nice, very accommodating when I had a slightly early checkin and had to check out late.Personally, I think the price is a bit steep, but if youre traveling for work or can afford it, Id suggest it as one of the top places to stay in Chelsea/Midtown.
The place has character, but the rooms are small. They also have noises coming from the air conditioner, and mine were really distracting. They did offer to let me move to a different room, though, so that was nice of them. The mini bar is well stocked, and there is a restaurant/bar attached. Unfortunately, you cant see a sports game in the bar.
A very cozy hotel with its particular maritime style. The most obvious aspect of which is the round porthole windows, but I was more impressed with the wooden decor which reminded me of old sailing ships. My room is a little small, but on par with what I expect in New York, and its well laid out, making the most of that space. The bathroom surprisingly has a very nice rain shower. Free wi-fi and complimentary breakfast round off the features, though Id argue that the complimentary breakfast is a little sparse, missing the meats and cheeses Id expect, but including a reasonable range of breads and drinks.
Not for a business traveler. Old, musty smelling, dark, tiny rooms, got the “pleasure pack” but not coffee. Decent mattress, decent size bathroom for NYC. No restaurant. Coffee downstairs is abhorrent (what’s the excuse for that?). Breakfast - think motel in a small town in EU without the good bread. Desk is an afterthought, more of a shelf. Bottom line - stick to Marriott Courtyard if on a budget.
Location is prime, room is comfy and clean. However the room service and bathroom design can be improved: room service took away a towel and didnt put a new one back. Bathtub has a wide flat marble edge all around, which look nice, but can easily cause a flood during shower. Also my rooms toilet cover cant be fully lifted because it was blocked by the extended marble countertop from the sink.
The room was clean, well situated and the service was great. The only thing that kept me from giving a 5 stars was that the room was noisy, the continuous cars horning was something I knew before but there was s screaching sound coming and going, like an broken air conditioner. I therefore didnt sleep that well. I wish that that your room doesnt make that sound.
Love this place. Cozy rooms, extremely quiet- I mean you cannot hear anything. black out curtains, lights on dimmers. I really miss the cabana now that the restaurant/bar is open in the lobby. But the new restaurant/bar is nice, extremely bright/sunny. Ive stayed here about 8 times over a few years due to its proximity to the Google building (1min walk), literally across the street. Easy access to ACE on the corner and to Chelsea Market. Busy street, no worries about walking late at night/early morning/4am.
Rooms are very comfy, clean and well stocked with beverages and snacks. The wine and cheese afternoons are a good chance to taste some good wine and get to know other guests if you are so inclined. The complimentary bathroom supplies (tooth brush included) saved my day. :-)
Comfy rooms, nice overhead rain-style shower, and interesting/hip nautical theme. Can hear people go in and out of the stairwell all night and construction, so a little disturbing. Appreciate the complimentary happy hour and breakfast to compensate for the hotel work in progress.
The Maritime is a really nice hotel located in a great neighborhood in New York. It has a unique naval style to the rooms, and the rooms are sized very typically for the area. The amenities are nice and the mini-bar was well stocked. There are plenty of great restaurants in the area within a couple minutes of walking distance.
Nice hotel near Chelsea Market. Much more mature and calmer than the Dream next door. Id recommend it for a better night sleep than at the Dream. Only complaint was that the AC seemed to be automatic and didnt respect the temperature I entered. I had to call down to the front desk to get them to reset it.
Very nice reception. Cosy room, comfy bed, nice complimentary breakfast. But. The water pressure in the shower in 3rd floor (and 7th floor, as a co worker told me) is non-existent. I asked a technician to look and he said thats the water pressure in the hotel. (Although another co worker at the 11th floor says he has great pressure). For me it is reason not to return. And thats too bad cause everything else is great
You can tell this hotel was once the center of it all. Hiro, the entertainment space in the bottom of the hotel, closed a couple years back, but the hotel has held its own. A great event space (more for private parties than anything else) is on the second floor of the hotel. Overall, the theme is a little corny, but it works. Service is not quiet to the level of other hotels, but the charm and character shine through. Rooms are decently priced and the hotel is taken care of nicely.
This is a comfortable and relaxed hotel near the popular Chelsea Market, and one block from the beautiful High Line Park. Prices are reasonable for this trendy area, particularly given the tidy continental breakfast offered to all guests. Street noise can be annoying in the evening, but it tends to quiet down by bedtime. The hotel is perfectly located to do business with Google.
One of my favorite hotels in NYC and currently my first choice when I need to be based in Chelsea area. Always very friendly and welcoming staff from the door to checkin and house keeping. The rooms are fabulous, the ship and wood theme makes them very cozy and dont forget to enjoy the world outside via the huge round windows.
I checked in late in the night. Got to the room and it was smelling of Varnish. Front desk sent someone to check and confirm the room was painted recently. They had no other room and the only suggestion was to leave the window open which only made it worse since the hotel is in a very busy area of midtown, with very heavy traffic and lots horn sounds even after midnight. Other than it was a decent place.
I find the rooms at the Maritime a substantial cut above what is typical for NYC hotels. Though small, they are very well apportioned so that they dont feel cramped. (For example, the bathroom/shower is vastly more usable than in some other hotels Ive visited around Manhattan.) The decor of the rooms is very nice, the beds are comfortable, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. Well worth the price, given that Ive stayed in much less nice places for higher rates than I usually pay here.
Great place to stay in NYC. Rooms are a reasonable size for NYC with a swish, maritime theme. Room service is provided by the Italian restaurant and is really great. The restaurant can be loud on a weekend night and the noise travels up to the overlooking rooms. Great lobby - quiet, but a cosy place to enjoy a drink with colleagues. Look forward to returning.
Do not book a room facing the street!! Ive been in many NYC hotels and this is the NOISIEST hotel Ive ever been in. Incredible loud traffic all night long, for some reason every car had to honk its horn until 2 am. There was a night club and some traffic stuff going that compelled cars to honk horns. It was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. We did not sleep for two nights. Ive stayed in Time Square and this was ten times the decibel level. And we were on the tenth floor!! We were total basket cases and when we checked out the 23 year old clerk did not seem to care. Again, stay away from this hotel. I am from NY, I am not exaggerating how crazy noisy this place is.....
Impeccably clean and well maintained place, friendly staff, good location. Only slight downside is that sometimes you can hear the music playing from the clubs below and next door, but as far as NYC goes its better then most. They even provide a handy insert for the window to dampen the noise.
Nice, but not luxurious Boutique Hotel well located to Chelsea Market and the Highline. Rooms are typically small for NYC, but unique. I found the staff not terribly friendly but very accommodating. Light sleepers should note that this is not a quiet location, and the club downstairs that goes from 11 until 4 a.m. only compounds the noise.
This is not your cookie cutter hotel. Its a warm, beautiful, unpretentious place that must be run by people with a lot of integrity. Its a bit like being on a Japanese, mid-century ocean liner thats sitting in the middle of New York City. Its convenient to the subway. The food is excellent. The staff are friendly. Ive stayed 4 times now and it is consistently great.Negatives? The cooked tomatoes that sit with the poached eggs are unattractive.
The Maritime is what a hotel in New York should be. The story of the place is charming and engaging. The architecture is challenging, but the creative solutions are impeccable. The staff are cool, but not too cool. The food is more the edible. It doesnt impose itself on you, but you feel cool for being part of the milieu.
My favourite hotel in NYC, rooms a bit smaller than others in the area but still ample space. Fantastic for business travel, one of the few well located NYC hotels where you can get a quiet nights sleep.Staff are friendly, the restaurant is great, and the bar makes a mean negroni.
This is the my favorite hotel in NYC! The location is great but more importantly their customer service is top notch. I also love that the faces at the front desk have stayed mostly the same over the 7 years Ive been staying there. Its clear they are doing something right.
I enjoyed staying here, the staff was helpful and not too intruding, the room was a tad small but had everything i needed. I was specially please with the bathroom which had all necessities all down to q-tips and make up removal cotton pads, a scrubbing sponge etc.I didnt mind it myself, but if you get a room facing the bar downstairs, you can hear the noise so keep that in mind.
I moved to this hotel during the snowzilla weekend in January 2016 after an (unexpected) extended stay in NYC. I wish I would have stayed here for the entire trip. The decor is nautical and very charming, and very calming. My room felt like a high-end room on a yacht. I slept like a log, the room was quiet and the bed accessories were down in super crisp cotton, super comfortable. I love that the hotel is so chill. The bathroom is small but assembled perfectly, with high quality Bigelow toiletries. The Marvis toothpaste and loofah scrubbie were a nice bonus. Free internet, breakfast (7-10, bagels, juice, pastries, fruit, tea, coffee) and wine/cheese each day (5-8). Lovely lobby with a crackling fireplace and comfortable classic furniture with a modern twist. Located near everything fun and delicious - High Line, Chelsea Market, Meatpacking District, shopping. I walked everywhere and never felt unsafe in this area.
The hotel has got okay service but not great compared to the price they charge. When I visited, their kitchen was under renovation so hadnt had the food option available within the hotel. Location wise, the hotel is located near to Hudson river, you wont get the view of it but surely you can walk to Hudson. Overall, I would rate the place okay because of its below expectation service such as house keeping etc.
Many of my friends colleagues dislike this place immensely. I feel that the accommodations are acceptable, but I would like a less fancy place to eat. La Sirena is probably good, but if youre looking for a regular place to eat, this place is a bit too fancy. Grey Dog is more my style.
By far one of the most wonderful experiences. I have to say my server Adriana puts the Happy in Happy Hour. She was very friendly, has a pretty smile, and she made great recommendations on the drinks and food. The Guacamole was delicious! I will definitely come back and ask for Adriana.
The Maritime hotel offers a sophisticated nautical theme in a cozy decor. The rooms are compact, but well-designed and all face westward through 5ft porthole windows reminiscent of a cruise ship. But the real action is in the lobby, from the parade of models and actors waiting to be seated at the hotels glitzy trattoria La Sirena, to the giant terrace — the largest in any New York hotel.
I stayed at the Maritime Hotel when I was first trying to break into New York City. Beautiful hotel in a great location, the lighting is perfect and there are restaurants within the hotel that serve some great food and drinks. The staff is A+. If you are looking for a place to stay while visiting NYC, I highly recommend the Maritime Hotel.
Retro-vibe outfit rammed full with alcoholic Google staffers.I splashed on a suite and was rewarded by a library room stuffed full of National Geographic magazines, and an odd terrace with a view towards the Empire State Building. On the whole I think it wasnt bad value.

2022-03-16Love this hotel. Designed like an oldtime luxury ocean liner. Very friendly and professional staff, enjoyed the cocktail hour in the lobby and oh yeah, the place is haunted AF!!!!!Ill definitely stay there again because its in a really convenient downtown area, but Im bringing some holy water. Was there with a group of folks and we all had an otherworldly or supernatural experience. Scary but cool!

2022-03-22Love this hotel! I brought my husband and my dog for a little staycation. I booked one of the penthouse suites and it was amazing! Great location, reasonable price for a penthouse suite, dog friendly, cute decor and free continental breakfast!!The suite was beautiful and I love the Maritime theme. Our suite was huge and had Lots of natural light. My dog was very very happy. We definitely took advantage of the location and went to dinner, drinks, and clubbing in meat packing. Went to both Tao and PhD of course. Overall great stay would definitely recommend if you’re going to New York and want a penthouse suite!

2022-05-19Small rooms, but very thoughtfully designed so that nothings lacking. I would give 5 stars just for the shower - I think I had the best shower Ive had in my life here. The water literally pours down. Location is convenient & close to subway & food options. Complimentary bike rentals.

2022-06-21The hotel rooms are old for my liking. The furniture is dated and the carpet is the old hotel carpet style. The room ventilation leaves much to desire as well. I think one of the nearby rooms were smoking pot and you can smell it from my room. Also this place is right above TAO. It gets really loud on Thursday to Saturday nights when the club is operating. The room view was decent though. Also the breakfast staff were really courteous.

2022-02-16Really quaint really clean. Really nice hotel. Unfortunately on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights the hotel has a nightclub on the bottom and you can hear honking throughout the night as taxis and Ubers pick up patrons. It really took away from the experience as the windows were not as soundproof as they should have been. Aside from that Monday through Thursday, its a fantastic place to stay

2022-04-12Have stayed in many hotels in New York city and while this one may not be the fanciest, it is a great value for the money. Rooms are decent sized by New York standards, very clean, and the nautical theme is fun. The lobby is quiet. A great respite from the city outside. Cheese and wine every night can be enjoyed in this relaxing atmosphere. Unlike other hotels, I never felt a crush of people even with the clubs and restaurants around it. The location couldnt be better. Steps to the Chelsea Market, Meat Packing District, Highline and the river not to mention a subway stop within stepsMore importantly however, is the staff and customer service the hotel provides its guests. It is exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay because of this point. They were very accommodating and helpful. Even with our crazy late night / early morning arrival, they gladly gave us suggestions for food, helped us with anything we needed and even brought up a bucket of ice for our drinks. Really appreciated how helpful they were any time we needed something and also being able to correspond via text message was great. Lastly, my partner realized he left his airpods behinds after we left. A text message from the airport had them found quickly. They were so gracious on the phone and have returned the airpods without delay. The only negative thing I can say, and why this isnt a five star review, is the bed was not as comfortable as others I have stayed in. It wasnt bad mind you, or I would have said something to the staff and Im sure they would have done something to fix it. It just wasnt the plush comfy hotel bed I guess I must be used to from other places I have stayed. Could have also been the room I was in. Not sure. Definitely would not stop me from staying there again so take it with a grain of salt.Overall, would just like to say thank you for everything Martime Hotel. We had a great stay.

We were pleasantly surprised with all the room amenties and the location is close to Chelsea Market and Chinatown and Little Itay are only 20 minutes away for foodie lovers too! The staff is very friendly too. Thanks Patricia for setting us up with a room with a great view!
