We took our two month old here to be checked out based on direction from our pediatrician. The waiting areas are not kid friendly at all. There was no where I could comfortably nurse my baby while we waited, which surprised me being that this space was specifically designed for pediatric patients. The triage nurse was friendly but appeared overwhelmed. They seemed woefully understaffed and we often couldnt find anyone to help us when we needed something. We waited for two hours but were still not given a room. It was clear that we would continue to be bumped behind any other trauma patients that came in, and my baby was so overtired and upset that we just left. Very disappointing experience overall.
Took my 7 month old here last night around 8-830pm. Waiting room was empty and the lights really kept my son intrigued while we waited. Once in triage the nurse Bonnie (I believe that’s her name) got all our information and was great with my boy. About 20mins later we were moved into a room and a dr came in about 20mins later. Not super long considering all rooms had patients in them. The doctor was amazing with my son and took his time with him so he didn’t scare him especially with having to wear a mask. We were there for 5 hours and were very pleased with the staff and service. Would definitely go back again.
I went there they wont even treat me and under NY state law i am still considered a pediatric. Until the age of 21 all they had to say to me was that i had to go to the adult emergency room which had sent me there to begin with. I was there for a head injury and asthma and they did nothing so i had to leave and go to Westchester where i was better cared for. Westchester found out what was happening and i was rushed into the NICU (neurological intensive care unit) to properly treat the seizures and have the head injury monitored i was then started back on Keppra for seizures seeming how Albany medical center wanted to keep stopping it and that continuously led me into being a victim to hospital negligence by Albany medical center corrupt business. Coming the past few months after what Albany medical center kept doing to me my eegs started to show more and more seizure activity so that means when i dont have the keppra my seizures get severe and life threatening i have also been diagnosed with cancer and have had complications from my eating disorder on top of it all the cancer started to cause my bone marrow to fail due to the fact my body is attacking itself. And i have had 2chead injuries since then. Even if i had to go to a hospital i wouldnt go until i knew one that would help me. I was in 2 car accidents last week which my doctors are worried about out patient and want me to get more testing done to make sure the cancer hasnt gotten worse and to make sure i have not had any internal bleeding from this issue. Especially knowing how the smallest injury with this cancer can cause life-threatening internal and external bleeding.
Next time if there’s ever a need for an emergency room I will take my kids ANYWHERE but here. I brought my daughter here under the instruction of her primary doctor and urgent care. You think being st the the pediatric ER will expedite things. No. You will be sitting in their waiting room for HOURS. And when you ask how much longer your 2 year old will have to be waiting they will tell you in their least caring tone that they have no Idea, and with every ambulance or “higher trauma” comes in, you get pushed back, no matter how long you’ve waited. Once you finally get into a room the wait isn’t over. You are then doing more waiting for anyone to come around. Things you ask for (a clean diaper your toddler since you used them all while waiting for hours) never gets brought. If they have to put a catheter in your child MAKE SURE they do a bladder scanner first before traumatizing your kid with inserting the catheter. In our case, a bladder scanner was the very very last thing they did after nothing was working- only to realize she did not have any urine to collect in the first place. We spent almost 8 hours there and left with NO results and NO resolution only to be told to go home and call our primary in the morning. DON’T GO HERE if you want to feel like you or your kid matter.
Took my daughter here last night. We spent 7 1/2 hours in the waiting room. Got back into a room spent another hour there not having been seen by a doctor. I sat there and watched a nurse with her feet up eating. So unprofessional. We spent 8 1/2 hours waiting. I left and took her to another ER and we were seen withing 2 hours. So disappointing.
My son and I spent last night at the emergency center for a facial laceration repair. The staff were friendly and caring. I felt my son was in good hands. While our incident was not life threatening, it was something that needed to be addressed immediately, especially on a holiday weekend. The doctors and nurses explained everything clearly and were compassionate to our situation. While I never want to have to visit again, I would when necessary. Thank you to those who helped us, I truly appreciate it.
Took my son there 3 nights ago at 1:30am. While checking in the nurse was waiting at the door to take us right back. By 2:30am they knew what was wrong and how to treat it. The doctor, Sean, and nurse, Christa, were absolutely amazing! My son ended up being admitted and Christa went out of her way the following night to come up to his room to check up on him.
The whole facility was attentive and clean. We were in and out within an hour. My son had a head wound that needed stitches and the staff worked great with him. Things to keep in mind, most doctors are residents, if you are not comfortable with young Doctors who are still doing state requirements in order to open their own practices, then go elsewhere. If you’re willing to deal with that, then this is a great place to take your children.
This pediatric hospital is terrible... I waited for 3 hrs in a room to see a doctor while my infant daughter had an ear infection. She was very fussy. No one came to check on me, they only told me a doctor was coming when I asked why was I sitting here so long. They only had 1 doctor for all the patients.
I was thrilled at the idea of a local hospital that had a specialty childrens ER. They are not the special, comfortable place for a family where you are seen quickly, despite their advertising. Other than the facility being new, there was nothing good about the experience. There was very little that made the ER kid-friendly. The nurses told us, you can watch a movie. My 18 month old will not sit & watch a movie. They left us waiting in triage for over 30 minutes (with someone elses vomit on the floor), then shuffled us upstairs to another area where we waited over an hour to be seen again. In the end, we waited over 2 hours to be seen by a nurse practitioner. They tote $19M in donations to build this new center, you think they could have used some of that money to properly staff it. I have no plans on ever going back, Ill go back to St Peters.
Extremely disappointing! Went for an emergency with my daughter, we were told to go by our primary. No one came into check on us for over 2 hours. Then a tech not a nurse came in and took her temp, which she had a fever. A few minutes later a resident came in then a nurse with motrin, then the dr who ordered blood work, urine sample and iv fluids. Another 3 hour wait for the blood work and then come to find out they never got the urine sample!!! Another 2 hour wait for those results! But never once did ANYONE come into our room to check on us! They just kept saying that they were so busy!Just called to follow up on the blood work, got transferred 7 times, disconnected 2 (I hung up once out of frustration) I had to explain myself every time only for them to tell me they had to transfer me someone else!People need to start putting care into patients care!! Not a single person could help figure out what department could help me. Just keep passing the buck!!Unless I need to be air lifted, I will never go back here! St. Peters never treated us like this last year when my husband received care for bladder caner!
Emergency Room- While my child was seriously ill and vomiting with severe head pain in a hospital room. The desk clerk entered the room and asked for copay. I looked at her liike she was so out of line.and told her this isnt the time. Then she asked if I would like to know the amount. I said this is definitely not the time. Then she said something else...who knows. Ridiculous. Collection starts the minute you wailk in! She was not a nurse or someone in care of my child. This is disgusting and out of line behavior.
I went with my son and was never able to see a doctor. When I got him into his pediatrician they said there was a note that I left against doctors orders. I never saw a doctor. I called records and they said they couldn’t tell me anything about without going down in person. I believe they billed my insurance even though we weren’t seen or treated. The nurses were awful, they were understaffed and I will not go again.
Longest wait ever, 6 hours and counting, this is supposed to be for kids. It’s supposed to be faster than a regular er. These people talk more than what they work. My kid is screaming in pain and they busy eating and talking about their husbands. Don’t ever bring your kid here!!!
THESE PEOPLE DON’T PRACTICE MEDICINE THEY PRACTICE HACKERY!! THERE IS NO COMPARISON ANY WHAT SO EVER IN THIS PLACE. THEY MADE MY DAUGHTER WAIT 3 1/2 HOURS AND WE FINALLY LEFT! THERE IS MORE HAPPINESS IN A FUNERAL HOME THEN THIS PLACE.. NOT A PLACE TO TAKE YOUR KID FOR MEDICAL CARE!! THE RECEPTIONIST WAS THE WORST AND IT ONLY WENT DOWNHILL FROM THERE!! I SPOKE TO A NURSING SUPERVISOR WHO DID NOT KNOW WEATHER SHE WAS COMING OR GOING. I THOUGHT I WAS TALKING TO JACKIE GLEASON A HOMMADA HOMMADA! BOTTOM LINE I WILL NEVER USE THIS HOSPITAL FOR MY KID OR MYSELF AND YOU SHOULDNT EITHER!! THEY ARE THE WORST IN MEDICINE!!

2022-05-15Our son went in to the AMC ER this April and was treated very well. Nicholas was born at AMC and has been to the ER twice and has had the best of care both times. I highly recommend AMC Pediatric ER.

2022-05-09I will NEVER bring my daughter back here. The nurses LACK compassion. I couldn’t believe how we were spoken too here the attitudes on these nurses is unbelievable. I couldn’t believe these nurses worked with children. Just terrible. Simply asked a question about my daughters care and all we got was attitude and the door slammed as the nurse was leaving. Makes me sick

2022-05-11Emergency room was atrocious, filthy and stressed. In the mist of COVID-19 all medical facilities should be ontop of maintenance and the follow through of Healthcare policies. I was able to surprisingly meet and speak with department management William Z. Who politely reassured me and my family that the untidy appearance will not be unattended . I appreciate his reassuring approach and professionalism. 5 stars for him. Whoever hired him needs to hire compassionate maintenance staff.

2022-07-19This was quite possibly the worst experience any mother with a 3 year old could ever have. My baby had a severe injury and was taken immediately to the Pediatric emergency department. This was an urgent, emergent problem. It could not have been treated any differently. After a 3 HOUR WAIT in the butterfly room we were taken into a private room in the ER and waited an additional 4 HOURS. Finally a nurse came to take some x rays. X rays were reviewed 4 HOURS LATER by several brand new hire just graduated in 2022 doctors and we were told my baby had a broken thumb and a wound and both required him to be put into the operating room and have surgery. The baby had blood drawn for pre-ops, an IV Catheter placed, was sedated with an intra nasal sedative and tortured 6 times by various nurse/rookie doctors removing the bandage from his thumb over and over again. The baby also was restricted from any nourishment to his body and had gone without any food and water for a total of 9 hours at this point. By hour 11 in this ER we were visited by 2 new hire rookie doctors from the hand surgeon team, they explained that he was at risk for a bone infection and surgery was required and he would be in the OR at 7:30 am. 7:30 am rolls around, a nurse comes in and says they want to admit him for 2 days of wound care and than reassess and the surgery was put on hold because they werent sure anymore if it was what they should do and they were waiting to get the opinion of the resident doctor for his final say. 13 hours in the hospital with NO FOOD, NO WATER, NO SLEEP, FEAR MONGERING, BAD INFORMATION, MIS DIAGNOSES , BAD MEDICINE, ZERO MANAGEMNT, ZERO ORDER, ZERO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN STAFF MEMBERS, AND STAFF MEMBERS AND PATIENT FAMILES, UN NESSARY AND INVASIVE TREAMENT OF A 3 YEAR OLD TODDLER. This was literally a parents WORST NIGHTMARE come to life. This was gross neglect of a minor 3 year old baby with a severe medical trauma, inhumane and unethical and utterly deplorable hospital misconduct at the highest level. What was done to my son and my family was absolutely abhorrent and after leaving that literal HELL HOLE, we took him to another Childrens hospital where he was seen by a pediatric orthopedic. Where we were told surgical intervention was not at all required nor was it ever required and everything that was done there at the Albany Hospital was completely unwarranted and unjustified and never should have happened. Happy to report baby is doing great and healing well. with absolutely NO THANKS to this sham of a pediatric emergency room. A complete joke and sub par medical care if you can even call it that. TAKE YOUR CHILD LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. I BEG YOU. ANYWHERE ELSE.

2021-09-19Miserable experience! There is no sense of urgency or priority at all! We waited 4 1/2 hours before we got a room and even then continued to wait to be seen. Our poor 1 year old baby was so overtired and we just wanted to do what was the right thing and get her some help since she was sick. There were older children that came after us, already getting placed in rooms. At one point, I let the staff know we were considering leaving. They explained that they are severely understaffed. I think the doctor on duty and the nurses did the best they could but the way this hospital is managed is a mess! Its a pediatrics hospital, there should be waiting areas with dimmed lights where babies can rest. Its so loud and the lights are so bright. We needed to change our baby at one point and the bathroom didnt even have a changing table. We had to ask for another one that did. You would think there would be one in every bathroom. Come on, its a pediatrics hospital! If you have other options to bring your child elsewhere, do it.

2021-10-13While the wait was long. The nurses and Drs at albany med took good care of my 8 month old son. They were short staffed and overwhelmed. Great people. The nurse Mark and the PA Lauren took good care of us and were very informative to me about what was wrong. Yes I got there at 7pm and didnt leave til 3am the next morning but when they have 60 or more patients and not enough staff it gets crazy. These people work their butts off and dont get the respect they deserve. I will most likely go back if needed to.

2021-10-26Here for over 4 hours in the waiting room. Nurse that triaged my son ignored my reason for me coming in and assumed what she thinks is wrong with him. I understand everywhere is under staffed but professionalism and respect still needs to be conducted. Employee at the check in is rude and could care less for her job. Ask if she could find someone with an answer and said no. Covers her badge and places at waist line so no one can see her name if they ask.
