The Meatball Shop - Williamsburg in other cities:
Place was amazing! I am not a fan of meatballs but everything from the beginning and until the end of this meal was delicious! I personally didn’t expect to be surprised by the sides, you would think that in a meatball shop they don’t came much about the sides but these were too of high quality and delicious tastes! A bit expensive but the place is nice and all the dishes were amazing! Highly recommended!!
Love this place. Been going for years. The menu has changed for sure. They added so many different choices of food and beverages. I had a moscow mule and the classic meatballs with rigatoni and their delicious mash potatoes. This location never disappoints. They also have in door and out door seating - whichever you prefer. Friendly staff and delicious food in green point
I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now. For an app we had the mini buffalo chicken meatballs. Tonight I had the classic meatball on rigatoni with Parmesan cream. My friend had spicy pork with an egg on a brioche and mesclun salad. I can say I thought my meal was delicious and filling. Service was okay, but I like the overall feel of the restaurant itself.
Seating was fast, bathroom was clean, food was good and hot, but the water was room temperature on a hot day. :( Im sure that could have been fixed if I asked for cold water, but whatever. The parm cream balls really are creamy, so if youre into that I totally recommend it. And they dont slack on the sauce.
My first time at the Meatball shop and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Everything was delicious. I had the Buffalo meatball appetizer and for entree chicken meatballs with pesto sauce ( it was a tad bit on the oily side, hence the 4 star rating) and risotto side dish. I like the concept, pick a meat ball and create a dish. Service was excellent. It’s a small restaurant so you can be seated really close to other customers. At the time I went it wasn’t so busy, but for this reason I probably wouldn’t return during busier hours.
Yummy! We had dinner here with friends, got 4 different meatballs with sides and everything was great! We also got 2 types of beer and the sanegria was very good as well! Its a reasonable price for a very nice potion. I got the classic meatballs with Parmesan cream sauce on mashed potatoes-loved it. The grilled veggies are mainly carrots which I thought were good and the risotto was just ok for my taste. Seating was relatively ok, this is not a place to sit for long though, the moment you take your last bite the plates are taken off the table and the check appears.
I give this place a 2-star because the service was horrible. I’m big on service. I understand COVID-19 numbers are spiking up, but they treated my family & I like we had diseases. Meaning they stood 6 feet or more from the table while talking to us. Normally at restaurants they offer you water within the first 2 minutes of seating. They didn’t offer us any. We had to ask for everything. For example: water, straws, napkins, for the table to be cleared off after eating our appetizers. They didn’t check on us to see If we needed anything. The greeter told my family & I that whenever the waitress came to the table we had to put our masks on. So when we did request a beverage or anything we had to stop eating to place our masks on. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. It was horrible. The eggplant had a burnt taste to it. Their food overall lacks flavor/seasoning. However, I enjoyed my mozzarella balls. We live in Long Island and traveled over a hour to this restaurant & we will never return again.
I had posted a negative review for them missing an item in my order which I really feel bad about since the food was amazing. Some confusion between Uber Eats and their POS system I guess.Rachel resolved the situation very quickly. She’s a pro at customer service. Loved how she was able to gauge the lifetime value of me as a customer and offer me complimentary food to negate the initial negative experience I had. I am a happy customer now and will definitely come back for more.
One very unique restaurant! The atmosphere is so unique, it feels like you went back in the time! The staff is always kind and friendly! When it comes to food, you came there obviously for Meatballs! They have so much variety that you never ever though it will taste good! I tried the meatballs/mash/bacon it was just WOW! Id did not expected to be that good! Id definetly come back here again!
Where I go when I want no fail comfort food. There’s something so reassuring with their classic spaghetti and meatballs. I get the variation with spicy pork and classic tomato sauce. Also worth nothing that I’ve tried 3 branches of Meatball Shop across NYC and they are all of consistent quality.
I’m genuinely impressed with the vegetarian meatballs at The Meatball Shop. I was a bit skeptical of the vegetarian meatballs because I didn’t see many reviews on it, but I decided to take a chance and I’m so glad I did!I ordered through caviar, so I didn’t get the complete dining experience; however I was still blown away. I ordered the vegetarian meatballs with the classic tomato sauce and provolone cheese on a brioche bun. My order came pretty fast, and the sandwich also came with a mixed green salad with Apple and a sort of vinaigrette. The salad was a great compliment to the sandwich. Now to get to the sandwich. The meatballs were made of lentils, mushroom, walnuts, breadcrumbs and herbs. They had an amazing texture and the taste went great with the tomato sauce. The sauce tasted of fresh herbs and tomato and had the perfect consistency (perfect balance of chunky and saucy). The provolone was awesome too.The Meatball Shop far exceeded my expectations and I would recommend to anyone looking for gourmet authentic Italian style meatballs.
I usually have a great experience at the meatball shop, although I must preface this by saying Ive never been to this location, but have been to many others. Firstly, I must say the food was pretty good, however, the service was bad, and lacking. We were constantly left in the dark by the server. Additionally, I felt like the staff wasnt as accomdating as in other Meatball shops. Usually, Ive been able to mix and match different types of meatballs, and wasnt afforded the same courtesy as this location. Overall, I cant say I see myself visiting this location again.
Ive been to the Meatball shops in Lower East Side and West Village/Chelsea, and this has to be my favourite! Lovely atmosphere, great service with a smile. The special turkey and bacon meatballs they served were simply incredible! Im always a sucker for the meatballs served on a roll, but having sampled the majority of the menu you simply cant go wrong with whatever you choose! Well priced, excellent service, delicious food! Superb!
Its a small shop but the food is excellent. It had a very cozy and warm atmosphere and my waitress was extremely friendly. There were a couple of things I didnt understand on the menu, like the Special Meatballs and she was excited to share about it. The meatballs were AMAZING! Super moist and full of flavor. I had the mushroom gravy which was phenomenal. Not to mention, they have homemade ice cream sandwiches which were huge! You can get a lot for a small price here
Food was mediocre. Meatballs were moist but I was skeptical as to whether they were fully cooked. The staff work quickly so you’re not waiting too long for food to come out but my only issue was that me and my partner were being watched the entire time as we ate. My wallet alone costs more than the outfit of the host and waiter so I was upset that I was being profiled while I ate
All this time I thought The Meatball Shop was just that — a place to buy meatballs; I had no idea it was a restaurant. The menu is dizzying with its abundance of options; dont be afraid to ask for guidance from the severs. Meatballs are moist and flavorful. I tried the spicy pork and the bratwurst (the special of the day); both were delicious though I definitely preferred the pork, as it was more moist ad flavorful. I had my meatballs atop a plate of veggies: a fresh crunchy salad, shredded carrots, pickled cucumbers, spiced chickpeas. Meatballs come as sliders, heroes, smashed into burgers, alongside pasta, topped with our choice of half a dozen sauces, and even a fried egg if you want to go whole hog. Food is fresh, delicious, and very reasonably priced. Sangria is a touch too sweet and the beer list is interesting though quite limited. House-made ice cream and cookies can be combined into ice cream sandwiches, the execution of which is somewhat plain and falls a bit short of its potential (cookies are too hard, ice cream isnt particularly rich or creamy). Service is pleasant and helpful. The space is adorable: warm, inviting, and thoroughly enjoyable. A great place to have an inexpensive meal with friends.
Overpriced, small plates, the drink selection wasnt that good. These are few things that describe this establishment. Also you cant bring your own food, i told the guy i was going to order food there too and he just kicked me out. The food was decent, skip the crab balls they are not that good, the meatballs are the way to go, and my friend thought the hostess was very attractive so he really like it. Dont go with high expectations.
Always love stopping in here. They have a good selection of menu items, pretty good liquor drinks, and the dessert is always a good finish. The staff is normally quick and attentive, but not over bearing. The atmosphere here is always good and the nose is steady, but not crazy. After there are shops you can visit so its a good date spot as well based on location.
Ordered the recommended pizza meatball. It was SUPER salty. I could not take another bite after eating just one meatball. We should have ordered the original instead. The side dishes were okay but were smaller than the pictures they have on yelp. Pretty disappointed on our first visit. Probably wont ever go back again.Servers were pretty nice and friendly, thats why there are more than one stars.
Meatball Shop was unbeatable in its heyday, a few years back. Not -as- good now, but still solid. Definitely recommend getting a carafe of the Fool Aide. The spicy pork meatballs with classic sauce is a fav of my friends, but I enjoyed the chicken meatball with the mushroom gravy. Most of their seasonal sides are worth at try too. It can get a little pricey if you do ala cart, so you may want to consider the kitchen sink option if youre looking to save a few bucks.
To be honest, I expected over the top, outta this world, delicious meatballs. I mean they are called the meatball shop. Mediocre meatballs at best. the first time I went and purchased the classic meatballs with lemon butter sauce over their mashed potatoes. There were potato peels in the mashed potatoes, which I wasnt sure was a mistake. Tonight I ordered the classic again this time with spicy meat sauce and I must say its pretty good.
This place was super cute! Although a bit small I enjoyed it very much. The hostess was so sweet, genuinely interested and helpful. The waitress seemed a little out of it but she was nice and brought us our food pretty quick. Date night was a success , the creamy parmesean is a must!
I had a classic meatball hero with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. It was very excellent. The little salad that came with it was very good as well. PBR pitcher was fairly cheap, and they have a few other options on draft as well.We sat in front of the chefs and got to watch the magic. It was pretty fun. Looks like a good crew of workers that cared about the food they put out.
We stayed in Brooklyn earlier this week for 4 days, and we went here to the Meatball Shop 3 days in a row. Why? Because the meatballs are delicious. The music they play is super dope. The bar service is impeccable (also they make great drinks). We had the same bartender twice and he was really funny, the other guy from Louisville was cool AF too. This might actually be my favorite place in NYC
Cozy. Food options for meat eaters and vegetarians. Ask about nut allergies for vegetarian options though. The kitchen sink is the best value and a great option that includes sauteed veggies with salad and your choice of meatball. Its one of my favorite places to eat. I get the chicken meatballs with pesto.
We had an impromptu Easter dinner here last night, what a great time. First: the staff was so super friendly, they were energetic and positive having to work on a holiday. But our server was OUTSTANDING, I wish I could remember her name – she had cute pink/peach glasses on and she was so amazing, attentive, friendly and gave wonderful recommendations. My husband and I had the Rabbit meatballs, it felt fitting and hilarious to have these on Easter, but they were super delicious! I ate my plate, and though I was full: I picked off my husband’s plate until he slapped my hand away. The meatballs were worth the danger I was in eating his food. Thanks for another killer experience Meatball shop!
We really enjoyed our dinner here.Every meatball and side we tried was excellent, and the menu structure allows you to customize your meal in a way that should please just about everyone. Same goes for the cocktail menu, which includes both some house specialties and a really cool whiskey cocktail matrix.Ice cream sandwiches are not technically mandatory, but man! Wow. Do that.
Pretty good place, got the meatballs and had the chance to select my own sauce (ex. regular red sauce or pesto) and add sides as well since I didnt go with the baguette. Overall friendly staff and great food, especially for the price as well. Good for a late dinner since upon a bit late as well.
This is the best meatballs and sides you can get in Brooklyn. The risotto is amazing and the service is laid back, but efficient. I went here on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of my meall. Veggie options and chicken made it a great place foe me and my group
The place is great and the food is delicious. I just wish some of the staff (especially the bartenders) would provide a little more service to customers. Youd literally be sitting there thinking theyre attending to someone else only to notice that theyre not paying anyone much attention. You have to go out of your way to call them over instead of them just asking if youd like anything. Maybe Im a little old fashioned but thats not my idea of good customer service.
I’m a frequent customer here, so literally just now, an Asian guy, claiming to be the manager without even saying “hi” or “good evening” “dude we are closed” literally 30 minutes before they actually close with a very rude attitude, I won’t ever waste my money in this place again and will tel all my boys that are also frequent customers here to stop coming! We deserve respect and politeness.
I really wanted to give them a great review and say that I loved the meatballs. Personally I think I make a much better meatball. I ordered the calssic with rigatoni, I figured that should be awsome. I got 4 meatballs and a very small portion of pasta aslo there was not enogh sauce. The meatball tasted more like a sausage. It was good but I was not Wowed at all. Definitely not kworth $20! The place had nice atmosphere servers were very nice and friendly, thats why there are more than 4 stars.⭐⭐⭐⭐🍘🍘🍘🍘
I ordered the special of the day meatballs, steak bacon meatballs with mushroom gravy sauce and quinoa sweet potato salad. Delicious combo! My friends meatball sauces (marinara and parmesan) were lackluster though. Couldve been way better tasting. 3 stars for the total cost. Ouch.
Friendly staff and a cool roomy decor. Food is good but not spectacular, portions are pretty small. Could make a decent casual date spot i suppose.Theyre basically tossing out Meatball subs the size of a bologne sandwhiches though. I think theyre trying to play it off as high end meatballs? Failed to taste what sets it apart from a regular ball. Maybe a tangier marinara would help, and toasting the buns would really add some substance. Value wise for $14 you ought to be able to take half to go and still be full.Salad was nice and simple, dressing tasted home-made. I liked it, but this might be too tangy for alot of people.Flavor-3.9Portion Size/Value-3.2Decor-4.6Staff-4.8Whats Better? Try Federoffs for a sandwhich thatll blow your mind, and their portions are massive... it is in a different category all together though, being a hallway style place mainly designed for a quick pickup.
Between 3 and 4. Came in on a Sunday night and it was super crowded. We had to sit at the bar since there were not many big tables open. Having conversation was hard with a 4 people party - but we got to watch the food being made. I loved the mashed potatoes, however the meatball tomato sauce I had was extremely salty. I didnt even want to finish the bowl, but it was pricey so I did haha. I dont remember it tasting like that when I ordered catering from one of the Manhattan locations. Consistency is key when you have chain locations! Was disappointed by that tomato sauce choice I made.
Good flavor, but too expensive for the size. Im not trying to spend $10 for 300 calories. Can only imagine this makes it because of the late night crowd that doesnt think about the price. We made a comment about the marinara being too sweet and the bartender overheard, then agreed with us... not a good sign.
While food comes out fresh, the speed at which it comes out feels slow when hungry. Theres customizable options on the menu, and seasonal specials, which is great to allow for trying new recipes. My favorite is the classic meatball with spicy meat, it is light and tasty at the same time.Meals are surprisingly filling!
This place is great! love their food selection of different types of meatballs. the place is kind of on the small side but have never had an issue with a small group coming here. usually order a meatball selection, some sides, and one of their ice cream cookie sandwiches. those are to die for as well.
I was skeptical of a just meatball restaurant. This exceeded expectations. It has a great vibe, and real interesting decor. I went during a low traffic time so we were able to get seated and get food and drinks pretty quickly. Our waiter was awesome and made great recommendations. We were a little nitpicky with lots of questions and he calmly answerd everything. I highly recommend the crabcake meatballs. Perfectly crispy on the outside soft when you cut into it and full of crab meat! The butternut squash was the best thing I had there however I assume its seasonal. The broccoli cheese risotto had the perfect ratio of cheese to broccoli. And the price was right!
I had the risotto with parmesan cream sauce, and regular meatballs and it was fantastic. Everything was so creamy and flavorful. The risotto and meatballs had a great texture that didnt get washed out by the cream sauce. The bowl was filling, satisfying and was a good deal for NYC.
Rather overpriced (especially the sides), very loud, but an enjoyable layout. Nice way of ordering food and good service but if a joint has only one dish, you would expect something better than what they offer. Meatballs are not really that good, serving sizes are too small and all in all, our party would not recommend it.
This was a recommendation from some of our New York friends. Got here right before the rush it seemed.. delicious meatballs, awesome staff, super cozy atmosphere and nice smelling restrooms. Win win win win.Started with the buffalo balls in blue cheese - wow, win!Got the classic meatballs with Parmesan sauce over broccoli - classic win!She ended the meal with a cookies and cream White Russian - on point. Win.
Long wait times at the door and at the table pay off once you taste how melt-in-your-mouth good the food is. Tender, flavorful and done just right, you can order any meatball type, done the way you like, with any sauce and side. Youll leave with a smile, a full stomach and enough money in your pocket to feel good about yourself the next day. Try everything on the menu at least once. Make sure the staff seats you away from the main walkway!
Mid price range, good food, large portions, open late, points off for decor. In general, good food with some interesting flavor combinations. For example, the root beer float with brown sugar ice cream was delicious. The build your own style menu, along with a system by which you check off items on a reusable laminated menu, allows for the experience to vary widely. For a dinner had at 1am, it was better quality that expected, but the lighting was far too dim. For two people, each getting a hero (beef meatballs with the mushroom sauce which I highly recommend came with a giant side salad in a simple vinaigrette) and a desert (see aforementioned float) the total came to $32. A fantastic Late night option.
Combine your own meatball meal is an amazing idea. You pick from a variety of meatballs, including vegetarian and then you add sides and toppings. You can add an egg as a topping as well, which is awesome. theyve perfected the process so they meals come quick. They also serve some craft beer which is a bonus.Enjoy!
This place would get 5 stars for the food, amazing juicy meatballs but Ive gotten takeout service twice and never met such moody horribly unhelpful people in my life. I would give this place a 1 start on that alone but those damn balls are so good!! Teach your staff to give newbies a break, not everyone knows how your system works and some instructions may be needed.
Ive loved the Manhattan location for a while, but the Brooklyn one is infinitely easier to deal with and Im so glad its an option now. Its still usually pretty crowded, but I havent yet encountered a wait of longer than 10 minutes or so. The space itself is larger and easier to get around in, and not quite so noisy. The food is just as good as the Manhattan location, and the menu is essentially the same, but they also have cocktails which is a big plus. My advice: skip the ice cream sandwiches for dessert and go for the whiskey float. One of the most wonderful things I have ever tasted.
They got the order wrong, never apologized... My friend had half of his plate eaten before I got my new bowl. The meatballs were cold and they were the wrong ones again. Its not like they were super busy, we were the only ones eating. Extremely dissaponting and a bit gross, actually.
As a vegetarian, I surprisingly love going to The Meatball Shop. The one in Williamsburg is definitely the least crowded of the few I have been to. The veggie balls with the vegetable option for the large plate is so fresh and good. They use whatever veggies are in-season and for a low-cost it is a super filling meal. One of the best parts of this place are the ice-cream sandwiches which include homemade ice-cream and a variety of cookies to choose from!
This is a fun place! The drinks were delicious and a fun interactive menu. Lots of options when it came to meatballs - sandwiches, sliders, sets of 4 or 3.i recommend the pesto with chicken meatballs and the pork meatballs with parmesan sauce. The classic with classic sauce was also great. The service was lacking from James, who basically took our order and never came back, we ended up ordering more from a very nice guy who seemed to be doing every thing else (sadly didnt get his name but he had a great afro goin on). Overall would definitely come back to try all the options. Get stuff to share to maximize possibilities!
Ideal place for lunch or early dinner, great meatballs and the service was exceptional. Prices weren’t too bad, although Brooklyn is getting more expensive by the day. The atmosphere was chill, and it was nice having local and underground beer. Nothing to complain about overall.
What a bust! Id heard only good things about the Meatball shop and was super excited to check it out. What is the deal with all the raving Yelpers? Have none of you ever had a good meatball before? Im going to put it out there - if youre thinking about going to The Meatball shop, save yourself the $8 and shoot me a message instead - Ill make you a great meatball and only charge you $5.But seriously - these were the most underwhelming meatballs that Ive ever had. For one, one of my meatballs had a bone, or a stick, or something, in it. That was kind of gross but I guess thats the risk you run when youre grinding your own meat, and you gotta give respect for them grinding their own meat. Unless they werent, in which case this is just horrible.Meatballs, when properly done, can be one of the most wonderful expressions of meat out there. You can have a great depth of flavors in one little ball, with the perfect texture, and firmness. It can be a real joy. On the other hand, a meatball can be a bunch of ground meat that tastes like its just a ball of meat, with little much else for flavor and is either too chewy or kind of mealy. The meatball shop definitely errs on the side of blah.Couple this with their completely unexciting sauce and youve got yourself a real bummer.
We visited The Meatball Shop in Williamsburg during Small Business week. I must say this Brooklyn location is great. We didnt have to wait. We just sat at the bar and had a full view of them making the food. The specials of the day were good. We got some sliders, meatballs, veggies, and starch. Well rounded meal but too full for ice cream sandwiches.
I do not like eating meatballs out, unless I know the cook. I went to the meatball shop. The meatballs are light fluffy pillows of meat or vegetables. I tried the spicy pork and regular beef meatballs. You could bring your vegan friends, as vegetarian balls are offered and they are delicious. You choose the type of sauce you would like on your balls, red sauce, parmesan creamy sauce, mushroom, pesto and more. There is ice cream for dessert but I was too full to eat dessert. Service was excellent.
Their desert and choices of meals are all to die for, I spend often going to the one in the city and now that they are here makes it worth while. The environment is amazing and staff is very friendly. Place is clean and the bar is a nice place to hangout around. Its a convenient location within a block from the train exit and its a good place to go out with friends.
The food here is great, the atmosphere is awesome, the music is great, service is ok but management comes through if theres an issue (like I had). What happens is a good experience (even with the issue). Cause they treat people right and that is totally worth supporting. Thank you Rod, from Idaho!
Unsurprisingly The Meatball Shop sticks to meatballs, whether theyre with pasta, mashed potato, salad, sliders or buns. I kinda liked that you mark your order on a laminate menu, too. They have a similar approach to the cocktails - you choose the spirit and the mixer, and they do the rest. My choice of vodka and grapefruit was unsuccessful, so this idea was considerably less fun. Staff managed a very busy restaurant (plus incoming takeaway orders) efficiently.
Ohhh man... I went to this place before I fell off the wagon of vegetarianism, and even if you avoid the meatballs this place is still great. I had a veggie special of the day, which was a spicy cauliflower and was surprisingly memorable for what would otherwise be a forgettable side at most places. Lots of veggie options for those who dont eat meat, which is a pleasant surprise for a meat-oriented place. Theres even a veggie meatball. Id never really eaten meatballs before, but this place has definitely converted me. I had the chicken meatballs with cream sauce and parmesan, which could have been a heavy, gross mess but was really great. The bread they use for the meatball sandwiches is good, too. They post their daily specials, including the meatball of the day, on their web site. Get there early (or later, after the rush) to get a seat, as this place gets really crowded at peak times. Even at its busiest, you can usually get takeout in 10 minutes or less if you dont want to weather the crowds. The decor is really nice, too, and I like how you check off what you want on your menu and hand it to the waitress. Maybe someday Ill save enough room for the delicious-looking ice cream sandwiches.
I have to preface my review with the fact that I cant eat beef, so I cannot commit on the majority of the dishes. However, I can give my 1 2 on the veggie and turkey meatballs. I am not in love with box flavor meatballs. I am not insinuating that this place uses frozen meatballs but I cant say I get the down home or mama mia taste that I had hoped for from a specialty place. I love how they have multiple toppings and add-ons to give the meatballs some hope. I think if you dig meatballs and beef, this could be a good time. Otherwise, go for pizza.
Everyone needs more meaty balls in their lives! :DI love this place and cant wait to go back for their kitchen sink salad. That was my biggest regret when I went, instead of listening to my friend who told me to get the sink I went with the meatball smash, and although it was delicious, I felt like his was a better value,
I love that you can create so many different combinations for your entrees by picking your specific meatballs, sauce, and or side which can be served under your meatballs or as a side dish.y all time fav is the chicken meatballs with pesto sauce and steam spinach underneath. So delicious!
Went here summer 2013 y Fall 2013, excellent experiences both times. Food is fresh, menu is simple....dessert, hold on to your seat b/c it is Deeellish!!! I had the ice cream cookie sandwich. you could see the mint in the ice cream. ..they must make it from scratch. great staff, service, music atmosphere. ..get there EARLY! !!! Very popular! !!
Charged me 20 dollars for 7 meatballs (where did my 8th go? No one knows!). Then, after I paid and have the bag in my hand, they decide to tell me that they are out of the bread, which is SO damn important. Im honestly ashamed that I took those plain, no bread included, 20 dollar meatballs back home and ate them, but the place was packed to the brim and louder than a jet engine being shot at with a Barrett 50. Cal and subsequently exploding, so I really wasnt about to try and argue a refund as I had already waited like 15 mins and was very hungry at that point. All around terrible experience. Ugh.
It was ok. They essentially took what pizza shops have been doing for years and made it a little trendier. They took average meatballs, put them on a fancier roll, and served them at a premium price. I honestly feel like the new generation doesnt know what Brooklyn was like back in the day, and theyre just trying to reinvent it in some lame way thats already been done.
I came here the other day and I absolutely fell in love with it. The environment is friendly and, ever since that night, Ive been raving about it to all my friends. Recent topics of conversation with me has strategically shifted towards food and restaurants, and then BAM, I bless it with the meatball shop recommendation. The menu is simple; make your own combinations with meatball type, sauce, and side. You can have it in a bowl like spaghetti with meatballs or on a hero or a sandwich. The first time I had the hero with the side of mashed potatoes. I had a full erection throughout the meal (and that wasnt even because of the company). The menu is laminated and you get these markers to make your own combination. I liked drawing smiley faces all over the menu for fun. It seemed to pass the time well and I think itd be an easy way to leave your number for a waitress ;) (not that Id ever do that). My friend got chicken meatballs with Pesto (one of the more popular combinations). I got the spicy pork with parm sauce for the cheesy taste. Next time, I think Ill do the beef with the mushroom gravy over double sides of mashed potatoes. Damn, this place will get me fat.Let me dedicate one quick paragraph to the awesomeness of the mashed potatoes because its what made it a 5-star for me. It wasnt too buttery and had the right amount of milk to keep the fluffy parts fluffy. I would say 1/2 the potatoes were boiled and completely mashed while the other half were cut into larger chunks with 1/4 of them with skin on. Then they would just put them all together and mash in a mixing bowl for flavor. Its very simple, but it was the first time I had a combination of textures that made my mouth water. Imagine youre eating your favorite food and you got to eat it the 3 best ways to prepare it alternating every bite. This was the mashed potatoes I got. I would have been happy with this as my last meal. Now if only it had my uncles gravy....
Meh. It didnt rock my chair... Had the biscuit and mushrooms brunch version, the disappointing bleu and chicken 6 (way too tiny) meatballs, and the classic pork and beef naked meatballs with tomato sauce. The side of spinach comes alone, I wish they would have added sour cream or cooked it in butter instead of just steamed them to add more taste... Overly rated!
Crew was very professional and patient with an italian (actually six of them!) trying to speak english.I had the - amazing - Kitchen Sink Salad, which is probably the best deal (11 $) for 4 meatballs and every vegetable they have: would you believe grapes and celery love each other? I do now.Warm place with an amusing way to place an order; and sandwiches, beers, cocktails, specials, desserts.Must try!
Not quite as cool or as busy as the original in the LES this Hipster Headquarters serves up the best Smash Ive had so far! Okay, Ive only had one but damn was it good. Ill be back. Its located literally right outside the Bedford Ave L train station making it a perfect post partying stop or pregame meal before you start doing Jameson shots & pickle backs. The service is great and the food comes out quick. For grab and go try bellying up to the bar. I wish they had at least a few specialty balls on the menu each night to keep me coming back for new Smashs.
I would give it 5 stars but the service (this time around) was horrible. We were a table of 5 and got seated right away (5pm on a Sunday) but it took a waitress 15 mins to even come to our table to bring water. When we finally waved down a waitress she didnt even introduce herself, just took our menus and read out our order and went along her way. Two tables that got seated after us got their order taken while the waitress talked it up with them. Rude. Will definitely come back, assuming this was just a bad night for this waitress.
LOVE this place. They are a bunch of hipsters who know how to run the show. Oh and pretty awesome food too. With great energy, this place is one of my fav places in Williamsburg. Only thing that I hate is the wait - once was seated within 30 mins and another time it took us an hour and a half. Ive tried the spicy pork, chicken and classic meatballs. All were really good. The sauces are so yummy. Ive had them all - even a cranberry sauce last year during thanksgiving. Always get the rigatoni, market salad, and mash potatoes and im always delighted! I tried the risotto and didnt like it but dont take my word for it - i dont like risotto, period. I was just giving it a try cuz someone else at the table ordered it. The desserts are big and i cant ever finish it alone so we always split the brownie and espresso dessert.
Im kind of obsessed with this place. Their meatball of the day is usually amazing. Ive had their lamb with mint and a pesto sauce. Ive also had the bolognase (a combo of beef and mortadella - mmmm was it good). I love that they also have a cocktail of the day... an ice cream sandwich of the day... even a *lemonade* of the day. Youll always find lots of people here but the tables turn over quickly. Oh and if they have spicy cauliflower as the veggie of the day, buy it. Cauliflower has never been so amazing.
Cool atmosphere, although for some reason, they were on some late 90s punk kick when I was there. Delicious food and great drink choice, though Im definitely interested to know how much more delicious it would be without Jimmy Eat World playing and I bite into a spicy pork parmesean cream sauce sandwich.
I have no idea what happened to my favorite spot for The Meatball Shop. After traveling for work for a few months I came home and couldnt wait to get my normal Veggie Balls with Pesto Sauce and for good measure a second order with Tomato Sauce. I also asked for Mashed Potatoes and Broccolli plain without any pepper flakes. Placed my order and chalked up the attitude to the fact that maybe after being away for such a long time I had to get re-acquainted to NYC. No biggie and I stepped outside to use the phone so as to not be rude to my fellow patrons.I got home, plated everything and nearly spit the food out of my mouth. The balls were dry, and were salty beyond anything I have ever tasted in my life. The pesto sauce was basically green salt, and the tomato sauce was red salt. So salt upon salt on top of more salt.My Broccolli I asked for without any pepper flakes looked like they were battered in them instead. The mashed potatoes......barely passable......what is going on? I thought maybe my travels had somehow warped my taste buds so I brushed my teeth and went back and without saying anything and ordered the same order again from the same two people I placed my original order with. Not only did they not ask me how my first order was, but clearly couldnt have cared less about anybody elses as the attitude was still beyond awful. So I decided to sit and watch them Cook my order. If you want to know what a kitchen looks like when the owners have checked out, or the Executive Chef probably pops in every 3 months, and the employees are not properly trained then The Meatball Shop on Bedford Avenue is your spot. In fact it should be a case study.I watched one of the line cooks dip his spoon from one sauce to the other to another. I also watched him Season the food without looking at it. Like adding stuff to food while talking to one of the waitresses. I watched the main cook do the same thing only this guy was Cooking and I use the term loosely, around 4 orders on the stove.I really wanted to give them a great review and say that Theres nothing like coming home to your favourite spot etc but I cant and I want to save anyone else from the pain. Ive had better food at a food stand in some rather remote places that, if rated against The Meatball Shop, would be considered 3 Star Michelin establishments. Take a table spoon of salt, some ketchup, and some lentils, swish that around in your mouth for a bit and you will have something BETTER than what I had.
This restaurant is quite the place. The interior is rather eclectic with rustic and old fashioned fixures / seating is plenty to look at. Its food was good, but a bit pricey even for the area. Then again it is Williamsburg so I cant complain too much. The best part of course were the bartenders, they were freeking awesome! Both ladies had an aptitude for my sacrasim and sometimes inappropriate jokes. The lemonade they served was tasty, so much to the point I didnt quite finish the second one. They have humor, sas, yet always kept it professional. I highly recommend these two ladies
I had heard good things before this Brooklyn location opened but also could never handle the long wait to get in. When The Meatball Shop of Williamsburg finally opened and planned my visit knowing from friends the food was going to be good- they left out all the other awesomeness this place has! 1- The menu! getting to write on the menu is adorable and fun! 2- The drink options- I always want to choose what liquor goes with what and they have it here plus The Whiskey Float is terrific and changing Jello Shot has been a fun favorite for bringing friends here for the first time. Finally, the dessert! Homemade ice cream and cookies! Oh Come on! Favorite is still Mint Ice cream with real fresh mint taste ahh soo good!!
Ive been to this location twice, and 3 different locations in the city. All I can say is that I have yet to be disappoint with any of them. Food is great, service is friendly. Whenever I am out with friends and we cant decide on what to eat, I always ask if theyve ever had this hoping that they say no so I can take them.
Been a while since I had visited this spot. Finally got around to visiting again. I always love the food here. The vibe is great. The service is great and attentive. I definitely recommend this restaurant. The food is worth the trouble of finding parking. Lol. Hope youll enjoy it as much as I do.
Nope. First of all, not worth the price. And we are in town for just 3 days. They did not deliver my grandsons drink. Instead of bringing it later or crediting it to my card, they offered store credit. Were not going to be here long enough to use it even if we wanted to. Not right when its so expensive to begin with!
Top marks for the relaxed layout, with tables for sit-down diners and a bar for drinkers or solo types like me. My Bees Knees cocktail (NY gin, honey and lemon) was absolutely delicious, served up with some old-fashioned charm by the lovely barman. For $10, my Kitchen Sink (as in everything but) ruled; 3 chicken and pork meatballs, parmesan cream and the chefs selection of salad - an amazing mixture of black beans, grated carrot, rocketnapple, hard potato salad and grits. Delicious, and $18 for salad and cocktail was a bargain, too.
Let my start with the price. $9 for 4 golf ball size meatballs and it comes with parm cheese and some bread. I went here since the chicken and waffle place was closed I figured Ill try this place. Im currently in bed sick from the food they served me due to food poisoning of the raw, underseasoned, greasy meatballs. $45 for 2 people who got the same spaghetti and meatball plates and 2 drinks. Over priced. It takes years to win over a customer, but it takes 1 bad plate to lose them -Gordon Ramsey.
This hits the spot every time. Its a very New York thing to pick one thing and do it well, and these guys have done just that. I generally get the kitchen sink salad which is always chock full of local fresh veggies (not your average boring romaine salad), and of course a bunch of meatballs. Just make sure to go at an off-peak hour; otherwise theres a wait and its deafening inside.
Came here on a busy Friday night and left my number for a party of 3. We walked away understanding of the wait and thought wed get a drink at a nearby bar. After 2 hours of walking around the hood and stopping in at a bar for drinks, the Meatball Shop NEVER called to tell me a table was ever ready that night for me and my two friends. Boo! (Luckily for us, a table and tasty burger was available down the road at DuMont.)
In the heart of Williamsburg, grows a quaint meatball shop. This is not just your ordinary meatball shop. It is the premiere meatball shop. Meatballs to fill your hearts content: Pork, Beef, Chicken, and dare I say? Veggie meatballs! Yes, these things are as close to meat as you can get without actually eating anything that has a heartbeat. In additional to meatballs, there are specialty cocktails and desserts. Recommendation: Jelly Shots. Done.
Williamsburg location wins hands down. More space, not as loud, better lighting, open air kitchen, and no wait time makes The Meatball Shop in Williamsburg so much better than the one in the Lower East Side.In the Lower East Side, you might be waiting up to two hours for a seat. In Williamsburg you can stroll right in. The specials are written on the blackboard. Dinner was three sliders (2 chicken pesto and 1 gobble gobble with mushroom gravy), one bowl of spicy pork with cream sauce, risotto, and candied pecan Brussels Sprouts. For dessert they had a special ice cream flavor of pumpkin and the special cookie was pie dough. I didn’t have space to try them but will get an ice cream sandwich next time. Those are the bomb.
Poorly managed location..go to one of thier other locations. This one is managed by people that like to play horrible music that is loud. I cant count all the times I walked in then right out of this place. So many other issues.. but whatever. Go to the one in the East Village or West Village for a better experience

2022-04-27This place has been on my bucket list for a very long time. And I have to say that the food did not disappoint. These are the greatest meatballs I’ve ever had! The pasta was also very delicious and flavorful. I love that there are so many variations of meatballs, from the type of meat to the level of spiciness. The only thing was that the service was on the slower side. But the waitress was very kind and apologetic for the slow service.

2022-01-06Their meatballs are juicy and massive. The pasta was also in good amount. Got so full after finishing this bowl of pasta and meatballs. I hope they can let us choose different meatballs for the three meatball combo.

2022-01-17Walking around Williamsburg on a Sunday afternoon trying to find brunch with no reservations is no east task. After getting rejected from a few places (30+ min wait times) we walked into The Meatball Shop. To our surprise, “Yea we can seat 5 people” response came as quickly as we asked the question to sit 5 people. Hallelujah!! 🙌Some of us ordered spaghetti, some ordered sandwiches, and others brunch menu item- biscuit and mushroom gravy with meatballs. Every single item was delicious!!We sat, ate, chatted, and simply had a wonderful relaxed afternoon with amazing server helping us with our requests for food, drinks, and space for conversations. Highly recommend this spot if you want to see what Williamsburg’s hospitality is all about.

2021-12-11A lovely lunch spot! Very interesting concept as the spot is fully dedicated to meatballs - 1) you select a type of meatball you’d like (classical (beef and pork), chicken, Turkey, veggie, etc),2) sauce (tomato, spicy meat ball, pesto, cheese, etc) and3) side dish (spaghetti, mashed potato, etc)We tried classical meatballs with veggie ragú sauce and chicken meatballs with spicy meat sauce. Both were sooo delicious.Service was also fantastic! One thing - they could definitely improve bathrooms (particularly smell)

2021-11-17Loved it so much! The chicken meatballs were crazy delicious. One of the best pesto sauces Ive had. Also thought the parmesan cream sauce and classic meatballs were great too.

2022-05-07Service and atmosphere was great! Calamari’s were good. However, the pasta was very bland…We ordered the pesto and Parmesan cream meatball pasta. Very simple and lack of flavor. I’d say if this is the only spot open, it’s alright.

2022-02-12Food is good but honestly not memorable. My favorite was by far the cauliflower. WOAH! You need to eat this. I can literally just order four bowls of this and be happy.I’m still dreaming about it days later and I want to try to recreate it. It’s that good.

2022-06-05Great food stop in Williamsburg. Vegans, vegetarians & meat eaters in our family ALL happy - which is not always easy. Great service as well. A bit pricy for lunch but large servings- could have done some sharing. The kids meal was a large size, perfect for my hungry 11 year old.

2021-05-15This is one interesting restaurant, the interior design will take you back in time. I found the ambience to be quite relaxing and others conversations did not seem to carry over. The purpose of coming here is obviously to have meatballs, the question you have to ask is how would you like to have them? There are many different options, we chose to have them in a bowl with one side. You choose the type of meatball, the sauce you would like with them and what you would like to eat them with. They do have vegetarian options here as well.I ordered the classic meatballs in a bowl with mashed potatoes and a white sauce. The mashed potatoes were phenomenal, definitely homemade and paired perfectly with the white sauce and meatballs.I found this to be a perfect lunch, not overwhelming on the stomach at all. Again the price point for this restaurant is just what I would expect and well worth it for what you get in return.Cheers!!
