The Met is the most prestigious museum in the city of New York, therefore the first museum you should visit.Indulge in exploration, examination and adoration in this vast museum, segregated by galleries dedicated to either major regions and ages of the world.Tips:The Egyptian artefact gallery is perhaps the most attractive.I recommend planning at least 4 hours to spend at the museum, and Im not sure even thats long enough cause the museum has such a gigantic collection of objects.The Met has provided a convenient way to purchase your tickets at the museum through self-serve kiosks - where you can select payment methods based on your country of residence.However, if you want to buy tickets online, my understanding is that you must have a credit card with USA billing address. Otherwise, you cannot purchase tickets online. My credit cards issued by Canadian banks didnt work online.
One of the most prestigious museum of art in the world. Probably one of the biggest too.Only in New York for a week, we did « all » the museum in almost 4 hours but god … we had to rush. I guess if you take your time you can stay two full days here !Exhibitions are super nice, architecture of the museum is gorgeous.Great great experience, worth the price !
Met is my top 5 fav museum of all time. I recommend coming in the morning so you can ditch the line-up and the crowd. I also recommend a 5 hours minimum to see most of the museum. They have such beautiful collections from all around the world. I recommend take your time and enjoy every minute of ii
This is one of the biggest and greatest history museums that I’ve visited.There’s a permanent exhibition which includes Roman and Greek museum, Egyptian, medieval, contemporary and modern art. In this part of the museum, which is most of it, you can see from roman sculptures to mommies and egyptian temples, paintings, armors, armament, musical instruments and much more.There’s also a temporary exhibition which varies depending on the dates.Inside the museum there’s also a cafe, store and auditorium.In the highest floor there’s a wonderful terrace with great views to the Central park.The ticket costs 25$, very worthy.Must do
Whats not to love about the Met? You could easily spend several days here and not even begin to scratch the surface of all of the incredible things there are to see and experience. It is truly one of the most exceptional museums I have ever been to, and it is simply a must on anyones list of things to do regardless of whether or not youre a local or youre visiting NYC from somewhere else. One of my favorite things about it is its location, and spending the day exploring the park and visiting the museum is one of the easiest ways to plan a memorable and wonderful day out.
Great museum with huge collection of paintings sculptures etc… if you love art and history you definitely should drop by. It’s not possible to see everything in one day so you should choose ahead what areas you want to see. You can also go to the roof garden at the top of the museum and have a nice view on Manhattan.
It’s iconic, and as such deserves a visit. Very lovely staff, and great at giving directions🙏🏻😀 I would advise that you plan what you would like to see because there is so much you can easily get sidetracked and may miss a favorite area. Loved the openness of the modern exhibit as well as the fashion exhibit. Incredible works you will not see elsewhere.
You could easily spend multiple days here if you wanted to see everything. The building itself is amazing! We looked at some of the Greek art while we were trying to get a game plan. We decided to focus on the Disney and the Egyptian exhibits and were there for about 3 hours. Im glad we picked a couple of things to focus on otherwise it would have been very overwhelming & we may have been over it by the time we got to the things we actually wanted to see had we not gone there first.
By far the best the best museum experience we had in New York. Exceptional experience from start to finish. I would go back and I would recommend to anyone of any age. You could spend 2 or more entire days in there and never see it all. I can’t want to go back.
This place is crazy big! So many things to look at that it gets overwhelming. Be sure to see Washington Crossing the Delaware, the Monet, Picasso and Homer collections. The Armor section is fabulous. So much history, makes me feel small but highly appreciative of what people have done through the ages!
One of the great museums of the world, where the building, and design of the galleries is as much of a treasure as the collection itself. The rich collection continues to impress and improve as the museum reassesses its own holdings and presents new viewpoints. Recent examples of this are the contemporary and modern art collection which is now 7 galleries covering 1900-1930. If you are not a huge fan of paintings, the museum has large collections of everything from Greek / Roman statues to Egyptian mummies, to Buddhist and ancient art from Asia to see. Plan a day. Wear comfortable shoes. Make a reservation somewhere relaxing for dinner afterwards. Its a terrific way to spend a day in the city.
The Met is one of those places we didn’t get to see. Believe me, I’d have a lot more pictures for you. It’s not within walking distance from where we were staying, and we didn’t realize it was closed on Wednesdays, so I guess we’ll just have to add it to the list for our next trip. The exterior architecture is amazing though, and just walking up on it is a treat.
Very cool experience, we went in June during Camp exhibition. I love every moment. The top balcony and view of the city deserves all the love. The roman exhibition, the Beetles, Jimmy Hendrix and rock band was so sick! The MET museum is a must whenever you visit the great city of NYC.
This museum is huge! We spent hours there and certainly didnt see everything! Cant wait to go back and explore the rest!Walking through the British section really did feel like walking through a posh country estate back home.And the Egyptian section was incredible.My personal favourite part was the native American art. It was my first time seeing any native American art. Its truly beautiful.My overall favourite experience though was the kind member of staff who tracked down William the hippo for us! My partner remembered seeing him as a child and wanted to introduce me to their favourite hippo.
First time visiting as a family of three, was a great experience we took our stroller all around with us. The staff was very accommodating of us when we needed to use the elevator to access certain exhibitions. Our son was able to run and walk freely, it’s a nice crowd. We’ll come again.
Great place to visit. I used culture pass to get in free. My typical visit always includes Egyptian section, Roman and Green sections, Asian wing, some exhibits on first floor, and the rooftop. This time I have seen Winslow Homer’s exhibit, Kimonos exhibit in the Asian wing, Samurai. Splendor by the arms and armor section,… Anthology of Fashion had massive lines, so I’ll have to see it next time. Rooftop is always great to visit. Security calls you inside one by one to walk through a metal detector. Then you can purchase a ticket at a machine or at the counter. If you are using culture pass you have to go to the counter and get stickers to put in your clothing to enter the exhibits. If you are a member you can use your member card to enter exhibits.
The museum is located on the Upper East Side avenue, next to (or rather in) the Central Park - a great location to take strolls before or after your visit to the exhibitions.Entry is via the main entrance - be prepared for at least 30 minutes of wait time, which may increase if the weather is not so good and many tourists decide to visit the museum. Tickets can either be purchased in advance on a select MET external locations (see their website) or upon entering the museum. For permanent residents, a pay-what-you-will fee is available - you have to have some form of proof (electric bill, student card, etc...) to verify you live in NYC.Once you purchased your ticket, you are given a handy map of the museum which will be your best friend during your stay, as the exhibition is huge. Ive decided to visit the Arms & Armor exhibition hall extensively, which houses a number of medieval armors from Europe and Asia (Japan in particular).There is a coffee shop available with limited amount of snacks (brownies, salads, sandwiches). Tables and chair are available to rest a bit while you refresh yourself.
I don’t have words to explain how amazing is this place. I came here I think 10 times the 4 years I am living here. You just must go…If you live in NY or NJ or Connecticut you pay what you want at the entrance if not the regular price.There is food inside is clean and everything bit is not a good food.Better the Halal food outside is the perfect choice.Get a Map inside is bigger than it looks.There are maps for kids, illustrated and very funny. In general is a life experience, The Met is one of the best things in NYC ❤️
One of the best museum in the world. Must visit place if you are visiting NYC. The collection is huge and will need atleast 3-4 just to visit all galleries. Museum enthusiasts can spend there full day in the museum. I would recommend getting in early during weekend, else the wait time to enter gets longer after noon.
This museum is endless. I spent an hour in only the ancient Egyptian exhibit and that was rushed. So much to see, really excellent displays and a lot of variety. You really feel like entering a different world, moving from room to room. The rooftop Cafe was ok, not nearly what I expected. Not much seating, no chance of getting a drink, but the views were quite nice. But I came for the art and the art was great.
Amazing must see museum. Really easy to navigate with the online map but plan on spending a a couple days to even rush through everything. There is a good mix of art from everything from ancient Egypt to modern art. Went on a Monday right when they opened and there were many where i was the only person up until about noon.
🤩One of the best places to visit in NYC and the whole country! There are so many famous paintings and artifacts to see, it’s more than anyone could ever do in one day, I recommend multiple visits. All the Van Gough and Monet paintings were my favorite, I could admire them for hours on end!
Its The Met - an icon alongside the Louvre, the Vatican, and the British Museum. A must-see experience. My personal faves are the Ancient Egypt galleries and the Temple of Dendur, which has its own wing. If you cant make it to any of the Cairo Museums, this will hold you over until you can. On the evening I visited, I walked into the European paintings gallery, saw a de la Tour and found myself serenaded by a string trio. (Its all about ambience.) The Rembrandt & Rubens pieces are not to be missed. There is also a particularly amusing Bosch. Do not ignore the Medieval Galleries. If you are a fan of armor and its evolution, you will enjoy these magnificent displays, most of them fully restored. The stylized Bavarian hunting rifles are beautiful as are the ceremonial swords from many parts of the world. One day is never enough to see the wealth of this museum. Something for everyone and well worth the visit.
One of the best museums I have ever been! Literally spent hours here just in admiration. Brings back that childhood sense of wonder and joy! You won’t regret a visit.

Amazing museum. Spent a solid 5 hours here and made it through most of it as I gave myself time.Excellent curating of both the modern and the older, with one of the most complete exhibits Ive seen of van gogh and monet.Really enjoyed this repeat visit and this still stands as one of my favorite museums anywhere.Buy your tickets online to skip the lineup and enter via the side
Fantastic event! The docent was amazing and gave us teriffic advice. So lovely! We saw the new limited exhibits. Enjoyed so much! Definitely stop at the info desk and use the audio and app.
Rather erroneously named, as its very much akin to a regular museum, as opposed to specifically an art museum. Very similar to the British Museum, except it costs an arm and a leg to enter. We went as we had CityPass tickets; however, having experienced the British Museum for free I think I would have felt hard done by should I have paid for it separately. For me, the fashion exhibit is what really sets it apart from other museums and is a lovely unique exhibition.
Paid what we wanted as NY residents. Went to one of their new Date Night at the MET events. I wish it was more of a ticketed event instead of just extended hours. You still can only drink in the corralled cafe areas. A lot of children around. I wish this was a more adult-oriented event.The cafe is overpriced of course.The art collections are gorgeous and youll have many moments where you are truly blown away by a piece. Its still absolutely worth it to go.
The Met is my favourite museum in New York City!!!There you can find a wide range of beautiful art pieces (very famous paintings, sculptures and so on). My favourites are the waterlilies painting they have by Monet, and also a very special Pollock. The building is also very nice.It is one of the worlds biggest museums, with over two million art works.A very nice experience I highly recommend!!
The Met is amazing. Under one roof you can see ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian artifacts, as well as unique pieces of furniture and clothing but most impressive is the priceless works of art from multiple genres. The Met is an incredible place to see the work of masters up close and personal. Dont miss it. I recommend buying tickets online in advance so you are guaranteed admission on your day of choosing. Plan for a 3 hour visit here if it is your first time.
I love art so this museum was a must! Went in 2019 but it was the day before the MET Gala so a lot of parts where closed. It’s a huge museum and even though they give you a map when you enter, I got lost multiple times, thankfully there are staff everywhere that help you get around. It is strange to think that some of the stuff there is history that has been stolen from countries and cultures.
How in the world can I summarize this place in a few words? Huge, daunting, powerful, culturally rich, and intoxicating are some that come to mind. Ill keep the rest short and leave it to you to discover it yourself but be sure to wear comfortable shoes and plan MANY hours of your day around seeing just some of the treasures on display.
Have been here multiple times and I usually spend the whole day inside because this museum is massive. And if you do want leave to go around central park, its just across the street. I particularly loved the current exhibit, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, which is there until September 5th 2022.
First time visitor. So glad we made the trip. We were there about 2 hrs, could have used another 2 hrs at least. Staff is great. FWIW admission is $25 for adults unless you are a NY resident then you name your price, suggested at $25. It is well worth it. Food and beverage locations MET are not open as of last week so plan around it.
Definitely make sure that you a lot yourself a few hours to explore the museum. We only give ourselves an hour here due to other things we planned on doing and we all left upset that we didn’t see everything we wanted to. This museum is incredible, and some of the art is unreal. A must stop if you have time!
This museum is beautiful. There is so much to see and learn here. Dont make the mistake of coming during museum Mike day because they close off all if not most of the best sections. Cone on a regular day or the weekend. You still have to wear a mask here but this is a wonderful place to visit. Its beautiful and grand.
•I bought tickets online to get in faster. There is a separate and usually shorter line if you buy online. Its located to the left of the main entrance/steps. There is a side door thats roped off and a worker standing there.•Additionally, I recommend checking their site to see if you qualify for possible free entrance. Theres a couple of different ways you can qualify for that or a student discount.•I Spent almost 5 hours in the museum and still didnt see everything! Was a great time and on Saturdays they close at 9pm which was nice. Theres a cafe inside if you get hungry and if you go during winter its a bit warm inside! No coat check when I went in March 2022 so keep that in mind as youll have to carry your coat around.
This place is just way to big to handle it in a single day. We spend 4 hours and were able to cover 1/3 of it. There are automatic ticket Machines inside that I would recommend instead of waiting in line like everyone else
Amazing museum! impressive building that takes up a whole block, next to Central Park, expect to enjoy a whole day, buy tickets ahead of time online, bring an identification document (i.d.)and proof of vaccination, take a break and come back to complete visit, every single corner and all three levels have a piece of world history from long time back, ancient cultures like Peru, Mexico, Egypt, America, Europe, Africa, never ending exhibits and events as well.
Largest museum Ive ever been to we had to split it up into 2 days essentially to get to everything. super wide collection ranging from Egyptian sculptures to aboriginal baskets to samurai armor. absolutely amazing museum and at such a massive scale Im still speechless to this day 4 years later.
So many famous masterpieces. Worth the trip! Prepare to walk around 3-4 miles INSIDE the museum, if you want to visit all the exhibits. I suggest bringing your own water bottle if possible, since snacks and drinks at all cafes are pricey (which is to be expected).
Big museum and way to much for 1 day. They have pretty much everything. From Dutch Masters to Roman statues and to Asian culture dating back to 750 A.C. Really impressive building. In each room you feel the history coming to life because of the ambience and surrounding styling they have done to the different exhibits.
I had the pleasure of attending this gargantuan treasure chest with a couple of friends who flew in from AZ recently. I mean.....this is huge!! I was told its about a 4 mile walk. Its like taking a walk through history in different eras. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
There is so much stuff to look at. The Greek statues were so fascinating, and all the other items from that time period. Seeing how ancient civilizations functioned was so cool. My favorite part was the instrument exhibit. As a musician, seeing all the instruments and how they evolved into the modern ones that people use today was incredible. Seeing history first hand. The oldest surviving piano was incredible to look at, and being able to control the volume of how you play keys was what made it so different from the harpsichord. The African drums were also really neat, how they decorated them with things from their culture.
Utterly incredible museum with some of the greatest collections in the world. Didnt make it out of the first floor after spending 6 hours wandering around inside it. I wish I could give 6 stars to the met.
Good collection of art. Love the open areas with all the windows, offers a nice change after looking at art where there no or limited natural light. Definitely buy tickets only as the lines get pretty big for tickets
We went to the costume institute exhibit. It was FIRE! So diverse! Creative! So many different styles and countries represented. Bright! Fashionable and timeless! Residents pay what they want as a donation.
Amazing museum! It has a little bit of everything from every culture: America, Europe, Africa and Asia. There are several floors and the museum is huge, so be sure to visit with plenty of time (or look at the maps on site or the interactive digital maps to select which areas you want to check out). Theres also different time periods and different kinds of art from the different cultures shown. I found the armory section pretty cool with lots to see from different cultures. My favorite section was the famous paintings/art gallery section. Theyve paintings from A LOT of amazing and well known artists, such as Van Gogh. Matisse, Seurat, Hopper, Klimt, Gauguin, Monet, Manet, Munch, and so much more from a lot of different artistic movements.The store is also pretty cool, theyve a lot of books, and a lot of museum themed souvenirs at an acceptable price!
Arrive early and come with a plan!The Costume Institute is a big draw, but I’d that’s what your after, be sure not to miss the other half of the exhibit, which is in the center of the American Wing, in the period rooms (the main part of the costume institute is downstairs beneath the Egyptian section).There is a TON to see here and something for nearly every art (or history!) taste. You’ll be exhausted if you try to see all of it in one day, but if you’ve got the time and stamina, go off. Mercifully (or disappointingly, perspective depending), there are currently quite a few exhibits closed. Check before you go. I really liked the modern and contemporary sections, as well as the ancient statues.
If you’re a student in NYC you’ll get the chance to pay as much as you want.Should come as early as possible to be able to have a full tour.Once you’re in plan your visit by checking the map so you don’t miss any spot.It was a great experience i got to learn a lot.Hence, What i loved the most is the dinosaur’s sculpts.
Its absolutely beautiful! We spent hours there and still didnt see everything. It is truly such a rewarding experience and it was unbearable to leave. Order your tickets ahead of time!!!! Seriously It saved so much time and hassle. Also if you are a student or have kids or family that are type of student. BRING A STUDENT ID! You will save so much on the cost of tickets!!!!!!! Also give yourself enough time to indulge in the art around you and pace yourself. We spent two hours in one section and didnt even know there were several other sections and categories of art.
Great place to walk around and grab a few free tours. Very knowledgeable staff who make great suggestions about what to see if short on time. Mondays normally are not super busy depending on weather outside. Cafes and eatery always busy take into account.
The Met is one of the finest museums in New York and a must visit. They house a large collection of art covering most regions of the world and historical periods. Classic Greek and Roman, Egyptian, Asian and European art, Native American and Pacific Islander cultures are all represented. You can visit as often as you like or can, and the experience is always fresh.
Beautiful art museum. If you are in to art, this is a must visit when in NYC. It is organized very well, very clean, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Lots of different types of art, and each section has a theme and they do a very good job of decorating for that theme. It does take awhile to get through, either a full day or two shorter day.
Definitely a lot to see and great descriptions on the displays. It was easy to get through it all if you d isn’t read everything, lol. Certainly geared towards the younger kids but my son loved the dinosaur displays on the fourth floor.
Great collections. I especially enjoyed the Egyptian and Medieval galleries. Amazing amount of Impressionist paintings as well. And I loved seeing Degas sculpture of the dancer.
What can I say about the M.E.T.?! It’s my favorite place in NY. The Impressionist collection is huge and amazing, and I spent one entire day enjoying it. I needed to go back another day to visit the other parts of the museum, and I believe that I wasn’t able to see everything there.I hope to visit it every time that I’m in NY.
Great exhibits! Purchase a membership if you plan on visiting a few times a year.I was very, very impressed with the fashion institute exhibit this year. Given the theme of “In America: an Anthology of Fashion”, friends and I had joked it would probably be bland and white-washed. I even debated skipping it all-together. ButI checked it out and I was pleasantly surprised.
There have a lot of good art, i stayed almost 5h but i didnt have enough time.If you want see anything, you should going to early or friday, Saturday.Best art museum in NYC
INCREDIBLE!!! I intend to go back many times... over and over. The sheer amount of beauty made by us human beings is mind blowing! I spent a great amount of time in the Egyptian and The Bodhisattva wings (my phone battery was gone by the time i got to the last one). I certainly will be back for the other wings of the Museum.Thank you!!!E.
Located a few blocks from a train station, and being alongside Central Park easy to locate. The lines to purchase the ticket are long, with a decent wait time. There is plenty to view, depending if you are viewing a section or the entire museum.
Impossible to see it all in one visit, but every nook holds a treasure trove of historical beauty. Wonderful place to wander and explore without a plan or agenda. Definitely a must do for any trip to New York.
If you only have time to visit one museum in NYC then visit this one . Theres beautiful art, medieval weapons, ancient architecture, ancient texts, and anything else you can imagine. Worth every penny.
It’s no secret that this is an incredible museum with a breathtaking collection. However here are a few helpful tips:- the line is ridiculously long (even during the week not peak season) so plan accordingly. If you’re a NY/NJ resident or student (and a bunch of other categories) you have a different much shorter line from a different entrance.-you have to keep your coat (bc of covid) so make sure to wear layers so you can be comfortable- there are SO many things so it’s very easy to get overwhelmed so I would recommend spending some time on the website or at least look at the map to decide what part you want to visit for sure.- Some parts of the museum aren’t great in giving context and such so would recommend to read a little head of time to enjoy the museums even more.
The metropolitan museum is one of my favorite institutions in New York City. Its located on the upper east side and its very close to central park. Easy Access whether you come here using the subway or a bus. There are two floors available to visit and multiple ailes with very cool exhibitions. Make sure you do some research before your visit that way you can enjoy what you are interested in and dont spend time/ get lost in all the rabbit holes this museum has to offer. Also, consider getting a membership and get free access for the entire year plus discounts at the cafeteria and shop. If you are visiting make sure you check this place out of your list as well. 💯 Recommend.
Unbelievable collection of the worlds art through the ages. My favorite was when I would see African references to help associate human history with some of the often overlooked events of African history. I learned so much in the short 6 hours I had to explore this museum. We kept hearing people say oh There it is! which I found to be an excellent representation of the feeling while walking around.
One of the most gorgeous museums in the world. It’s like a TARDIS, where it seems so much bigger on the inside. Every area is spacious and filled to the brim with art. Much like the Lourve, it would take multiple trips to really view everything. And well worth it.If you live here you really should have a membership.
This was my second visit to the museum and nothing looked familiar. I arrived at 10am. There were no crowds for awhile. I took the free highlights tour and learned that on any given day, only 10% of the museums collection is on view. I highly recommend the tour because you walk to different sections of the museum, so you kind of learn your way around. The Egyptian and British collections are outstanding. Also really enjoyed the Byzantine, Greek and Modern Art collections. This museum is huge. I doubt if its possible to see everything in a day. I was there for 5 hours.
Was a bit frustrated with the long wait, even after paying for our time in advance. Some staff were pleasant, but on multiple occasions we were treated with impatience and disrespect by others. The museum itself was stunning; gorgeously curated and flawlessly up-kept.
There is so much rich history under this roof...I plan on spending more time visiting through the Summer so that I can just soak it all in. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one place you should slowly bathe in the beauty and awe...its a marvelous experience! The Rooftop on the 5th floor has grand views of Central Park South...and enjoyed a cocktail up there, it was so beautiful and peaceful at the same time.
Went to the MET with some colleagues while in NYC. It was a wonderful experience. Didnt have enough time. The quality of the displays is unmatched. Well worth a visit.
This museum is a must-visit in NY. Its enormous, so you probably will need at least a couple of hours to look around. Its beautiful. I visited the museum on a Saturday at 6 pm and it was all for me, and still had 3 hours to enjoy the visit.
One of the greatest museums in the world. New Yorkers can pay as little as $.025, but you must wait sometimes an hour. Instead you can just buy a ticket for $25 if you don’t want to wait.
Beautiful building and iconic stairs, not only the indoor ones but the ones outside too (If you’re a Gossip Girl fan ;-P)The art collection is not the best I’ve seen.The rooftop is amazing and has the most incredible views of Central Park.

Probably one of the best museums in the world. You have to reserve a spot online and pay once you are inside or you can buy ticket beforehand. There can be a long que to get in might take 20 minutes to one hour to get inside depending on the time and day. Museum is absolutely colossal divides into multiple sections including Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Indian, Persian, Islamic, European history and many more. Would recommend to plan separate days for different sections unless you are in NYC only for few days.
Definitely a must visit for art lovers! It has an amazing range of artifacts and art from all over the world. The plaques beside the art help visitors understand the art and its history. The way the art is organised is a little confusing however, so definitely recommend grabbing a map on the way in.
Spend 8 hours here, wear good shoes, get a map, expect to get lost.The Met is massive and easily the biggest museum i have ever been to.there’s something for everyone here with it’s ancient history, contemporary art, renaissance art, etc.the highlight for me was dendur and probably all the Egyptian artifacts. i was unable to find the ancient greek and roman section as i got lost (hence the map) and distracted by other exhibits.
Great way to spend an afternoon. Many displays from different world regions. Place was very busy but well-organised so the long lines moved quickly. There were long lines for the upstairs restrooms, but ground level restroom was not crowded. Not possible to see everything in an afternoon. Suggest going online and planning what you would like to see before going. One of my planned areas was closed though, hence the four stars instead of five. I would visit again.
Conveniently located in the 5th Avenue of Manhattan, with many interesting exhibitions which highlights different periods from Egyptian civilization to nowadays, among so many others such as Roman, Greek, Medieval, African and Chinese civilization.Uniques and priceless masterpieces.Definitely its A MUST if youre in town.Cant wait to go back one more time.
Wish I can give this museum 20 stars! Loved every single exhibition. You will wait in line whether you buy your tickets online or at the museum (at least that’s how it was when I went). Make sure you accommodate at least 3-4 hours cause this place is HUGE and you will not get bored. Highly recommend if you could also visit one of their special exhibitions.. it just adds so much to your experience.
Amazing museum with so much to see, we werent able to get to every section. This would have to be a multi day visit for anyone. Does get a little crowded but thats expected considering whats available to see here.
A note to tourists: do not think this would be short 3 hr visit or a half day activity. you can spend DAYS in here. the scale of this museum is enormous, saying it is incredibly huge is an understatement. there are so many different exhibits to explore (egyptian, african, asian, iranian, roman, american, western...too many to list). from sculptures, historic relics, and old artifacts to paintings, photographs, instruments, and modern clothing in the american wing. they have everything a museum could have and probably even more. i recommend taking intermissions and going out for food/break then coming back. grab a map when you go in because you will definitely need it. wear comfortable shoes or else you wont survive getting around, trust me!
This is one of the best art museums in the world. The sheer volume and breath of the collection is astounding. I would highly suggest visiting the website before going, planning what you really want to see, and setting some priorities. You arent going to see everything in just one day and you dont want to get there and waste time trying to figure out where everything is. Bring your earbuds to listen to the audio guides on your phone if you have them. My wife and I share one pair between the two of us so we can both listen without disturbing people around us. This should be a do not miss on anyones NYC visit.
This museum puts all others to shame! Highly recommend purchasing tickets online and then entering through the ground floor entrance (to the left side of the staircase entrance where many people are lined up). You will save so much time this way!Definitely prepare to spend 4+ hours here. I spent 4 hours here and glossed over areas I wasn’t interested in. You could easily spend days here and still find new things to see.Each section of the museum was highly curated, thoughtfully laid out, and strikingly immersive. I was super impressive with the period rooms in the American Wing and the ambiance of the rooms in the Medieval Art section and the rooms with the marble statue.Please go into it with what you would like to see (specific rooms, art pieces, etc) because you will have to be smart with your time/energy. It will be a long but fruitful day!Whatever you do, don’t miss the Temple of Dendur!
Honestly, I had a better time here than at MoMA. The art pieces are classics and theres also a lot of pointillism at the Met.Multiple Vincent Van Gogh pieces and the Death of Socrates located here.Theres so much to see and its worth spending an afternoon here.
MET is definitely one of the “must-see” places in NYC! Visitors can plan ahead to visit during Friday and Saturday to enjoy extended hours (10am to 9pm). Several highlights in my visit: Egyptian Art, Assyrian Royal Court, Art of the Arab Lands/Turkey/Iran, and Arts of Africa/Oceania/Americas. Since the museum is super large, visitors better prioritize certain areas that they are interested in and plan the trip accordingly.
An amazing museum with quite the collection! If you are in New York, it’s a must see! The day we went it was free (for an event), however, I do believe the tickets are not cheap.
Outstanding, what can I say, just go! That stairwell magnificent. We didn’t have to wait long to get inside, the line was long but quick. The staff were helpful the exhibitions wonderful it’s just a buzzing place really wonderful to walk around in. It’s so big lots of space beautiful building.

2022-05-19The museum was phenomenal! It is huge with art work from many different regions! The museum is divided into regions and there was definitely more than enough to see in each section, so be prepared to walk a lot! (Dont worry though, there are many places to sit)I highly recommend buying tickets online ahead of time because if you wait to buy it in person, be prepared to stand in line for a while.Be sure to check online what unique exhibits they have going on at the time, because they are definitely worth seeing and you dont want to miss out on it!

2022-04-05This has been one of the biggest and one of my favorite museums I’ve visited. In summary, it contains art from all over the world. A large part of the paintings are European. The art includes not just platings but also sculptures and other works of art. Some of the highlights there are a full size Egyptian temple, a weapons and armor gallery, and a diverse Southern Asia gallery with large pieces of art. I would recommend booking tickets in advance and you do have to where a mask everywhere in the museum (except while taking pictures).

2022-04-05I brought my son to view the Arms and Armor exhibit because he is 10 years old and into medieval knights and swords. We were very impressed by the medieval collection. Such detail and variety and eras. We were also impressed by the Japanese, Chinese, Ottoman, and Syrian collections. I was pleasantly surprised by how rich and varied the entire museums collection is. It is such a large building and so well organized and maintained. Its nice to see how much they focus on education and they let kids under 12 in for free

2022-05-15My favorite museum in the world. You definitely need a whole day or probably more to be able to see all the pieces they have. I enjoyed the Greek and Egypt exhibits the most. Everything is perfectly conserved and there’s a lot of attention to the layout of the museum. The only thing I didn’t like is that a guard yelled at me when I was taking pictures. I didn’t see any sign. He could have been more gentle.

2022-05-15I was absolutely awestruck by everything there while I was visiting New York. It is such an amazing experience and the home to such beautiful art. It is the pinnacle of art and history, with its rich array of artwork from various cultures, regions, and historical periods. I literally was in the museum all day, but there was still exhibits to be seen; however, they were closed for renovations. I personally could just live there. I will advise to purchase tickets in advance and the line through the main entrance can get pretty long.

2022-05-29If you love art, then you have to visit this place. You can spend the entire day here — so much to see. Although it is not as expansive as the Louvre, it still has a lot to offer. I have been to the Getty, Guggenheim, Chicago Art Institute, and by far, I think this is the best art museum in the United States. If I have the opportunity to visit NY again, I will definitely visit this museum again.

2022-06-26Great museum where you can stay more than a day looking around. Some advices I wish I would have know:- bring a lot of water. You can’t bring outside food or drinks but drink water is allowed. As of June 2022 all the water fountains are not available to use, and the only way to get water is to buy. See next point on this.- There are two locations to eat. One in American wings always have long lines. A less crowded one is in the basement at the back called Eatery. Unfortunately Eatery closes at 4 pm. (There’s drink at the rooftop too but it’s also usually a long line)- Buying tickets online prior can save you time from being in a ticket line- Going with the tour can enhance the experience especially for art newbie like me :)- It’s so east to get lost. Ask the staff often. They can be found frequently which is indeed needed.

2022-03-17This was a great museum to visit. We had seen the natural history museum just the other day and were excited to contrast a little.The galleries that the MET had to offer were really impressive. So much history to see through the various items in the museum. Im a medieval fan so I enjoyed seeing all that armor and jousting stuff, swords were really cool.With the artwork, it is incredible to see things in person for once, that you have only seen online ever before. As with all great museums, you could spend a few days reading through and looking at everything. Youll learn something, thats a guarantee! Some of these paintings look photographic portraits!We left around 8p, getting a cab seemed practically impossible, but itll happen after a few minutes!

2022-04-02The Met is amazing and feels like it should be a whole day if not multi day event! I came around 2 pm on a Friday and left around 5:30 pm for dinner reservations but I only explored a third of the museum! There was so much more that I didnt get to see and will definitely come back next time.I recommend purchasing tickets online so you can enter on the side with no wait.

2022-02-19This museum is really amazing and it has a LOT of things to see, but in my opinion, the map was a mess to read and we kept getting lost but thankfully, there is staff everywhere that can help you! We went to the Walt Disney exhibition and it was AMAZING! I loved the Asian area and the Japanese deer made of glass balls. It was pretty interesting to see!
