While my son is a newly enrolled student and hasnt began classes as yet, I can speak to the support hes received from the administration thus far. They care! The school has been so helpful and instrumental throughout his entire enrollment process and has aided him with finalizing his status. Our experience has been the most pleasant and so far, I highly recommend the school to any student looking to pursue acting/film. Especially for parents who may be unsure... you will receive guidance and assistance beyond measure. It is truly what you want in an institution youre looking to admit your child.

2022-01-25The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts is not one for the faint of hearts. Make sure you have a balance of your mental health while training. You will learn the fundamentals of Meisner, film history, and movement classes (Dance/Suzuki). However, there werent many opportunities for on-camera training. The instructors were professionally trained mainly in the theater. Their insights were helpful at times but many students were often left with confusion. The lack of direction and encouragement created a culture of unhealthy perfection. I was excited to attend and get the experience however I’d advise fellow actors to be grounded. Being grounded mentally, spiritually, and physically keep you from settling. Do the inner work before training and always have boundaries! Acting is a beautiful art form so where choose to plant your seeds is essential to your growth. Hopefully, the culture is shifting by expanding its material to more diverse plays and scripts. Having material that is not demeaning, sexist, or culturally insensitive should be a standard for an educational institution.

2022-06-21Graduated over 10 years ago and don’t regret one thing about it. Unfortunately I was placed in a terrible class but as far as the teachers go…they were all wonderful. I don’t expect everyone’s experience to be as good or as bad as mine was but if you have a dream and you wanna attend there in order to enhance your acting skills I would say…be tough and go for it! 🙂

2022-05-09I attended this “conservatory” over 10 years ago, and let me tell you, its a joke, and im STILL paying for it financially. I attended for not even a year and I still owe over $25,000. You will not meet anyone special here, and you will learn things you can get from any book off Amazon. Save your money, take some independent classes maybe some improv and move to LA.

2021-12-28This is not the right place for you if you’re a person of color, disabled, trans, or marginalized in any other way. White students are allowed (and encouraged) to sing songs meant for people of color. Students are denied disability accommodations despite clear documentation of need. Most teachers do not ask students’ pronouns and multiple trans students have been mistreated: outed by faculty, misgendered, invalidated, and villainized. This school does not take Covid seriously: they do not consistently enforce their mask rule nor do they require any regular testing. The attendance policy is ableist: you can only miss five classes (not days, classes) per semester. And they do not enforce their own Code of Student Conduct: the Disciplinary Board does not thoroughly investigate reports and the appeals process is only for the accused, not the reporter. And if you have significant previous training you belong at a school that’s harder to get into: NYCDA just wants your money and doesn’t actually care about giving you the education you deserve.

2018-03-05I feel like I’m learning the Human condition in its most truthful form.Being brave enough to be vulnerable, strong enough to be sensitive and confident enough to listen to my partner.By being interested in what surrounds me (environment, circumstances, partner, etc.) I become interesting to watch. What a wonderful time and knowledge so far, and I’m still in my second semester.Grateful ♥️

2019-04-20I went here. I feel that for the money you pay, they should help kids get agents. It’s a shame to see the people I went to school with still working minimum wage jobs. Some teachers (I will not name names) are bitter they never made it and hold it against the students. and the president Omar had a belittling rude vibe.
