Doesnt look like much from the outside but inside its all about great service and way better than expected food. I just wanted a decent burger with a beer. I had a burger cooked EXACTLY medium well and the fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. Im also a fan of build your own burger and the sautéed mushrooms and onions were perfection!Again, the service was EXCELLENT! I was greeted by the bartender the moment I walked in and offered a variety of seating option by wait staff who were smiling and attentive. I will be back with friends :)
We ordered 4 appetizers, which included fried pickles, crab pretzels, mac n cheese bites and cheddar bacon ranch fries. Then ordered 4 kinds of wings. We had 2 full meals to take home to the guys. I want to try a few more menu items. The chef and server were great. Food came out fast.
Stopped in for wings, midday. The wings were huge! I ordered 10 but could only eat 5. I had the house sauce which was delicious, and the wings were nice and crispy. The fries were also plentiful and crispy. This place has received a major overhaul from the dive bar it used to be. The interior was clean, outdoor patio was large. I do wish theyd had some shade on the patio.
Never really get a chance to swing in for food and drinks, but Jess and I went in... Finally... Tonight. Definitely left there happy. Very cool atmosphere and the food was on point. The Mac and Chz was killer, and I was recommended to try the Prime Rib... That will have to be next time. Will def be back.
Fun atmosphere, and the service was great. Most of the food was a little lackluster, except the wings, which were great! It may be a bit loud for some peoples taste, as the bar, while seperated from the dining area, is in the ajoining room, and got pretty rowdy. The parking is also a little difficult, with very limited dedicated space.
The wings are fantastic. Better if you eat them in house but I never stay, they always got your dads rock and roll cranked to an ear bleed and theres always at least 2 parties awkwardly waiting between already tight tables or crammed in a corner. Wierd old haunt in the first ward but yea the foods great
Best wings in the Binghamton area. Super nice people and good service. Its too bad they are not allowing anyone to dine in because its a good atmosphere. The bar is nice with TVs and good bartenders and the dining area is quiet if youre looking to sit with someone for a date or good conversation. I tell everyone who likes wings this is the only place to get wings around here.
A very good spot for beer and wings. Arguably the best chicken wings in the area, with a good variety of sauces. The wings are large, and the skin is very crispy. The crispy coating makes the sauce cling onto the wing, it’s the perfect sauce coverage. The boneless wings are also very good, an order is one pound. They have a full bar and wide variety of domestic, imported, and craft beer at a reasonable price. There is a lot of space inside, and they were able to easily accommodate a 30 person party we brought in recently. The servers are efficient and friendly.Writing this makes me want to stop by for some wings!
Nice place. Clean and good atmosphere. However, we wanted to sit outside on there patio for dinner during wing night because it was a nice night. The hostess told us they wouldnt serve us if we sat out there. I dont understand their thinking behind that. He was rude about it and we got put in a back corner of the room. It took us forever to get our waitress to our table to order. But we did get our food quick. The wings were really good. If you plan to go to wing night, remember, they charge an extra $1 for celery and blue cheese. Most places give it out for free. The only reason why I give it three stars is for the wings. I dont plan on going back anytime soon.
The best wings I have ever had. They are light and crunchy and cooked perfectly. They bite clean through to the meat which still has a chicken taste. Good size, not too big or too small. I have only tried one sauce but I will be back for more. Order more than you usually eat because you will only regret it if you dont. The wings come out quick and hot, another plus!
Fridays meals were very good. However Saturdays meals not so much. The buffalo wing dip was good as always but our quesadillas, one chicken and one steak were sloppy from whatever they use for cheese. They were tasty but not worth the effort to try to eat them. Staff was great as always.
Have been coming here since the opening of new ownership, but also went when Frankie owned it. Went last Saturday when they had a band on the new deck, first time I had experienced the new outdoor deck, the deck is very nice, band was mediocre but unless you yourself is up there performing I never trash musicians that give it a whirl. The clientele that was out on the deck watching the band ruined it for others, really obnoxious people, never saw this before with all the bands that I saw there indoors, hoping that it was just a fluke and they never come back, I really enjoy the bar otherwise.
My first time at this place. It was great. The beer was fresh and cold. The wings were great. I had sirachia honey wings omg they were so good. Cooked perfectly crispy. The poutine was delicious as well. The bartender was friendly and very attentive and very efficient.i
This place was awesome! We were driving to the lakes and decided to stop for lunch. The service was great! The food was awesome! The air conditioner was on full blast! We left feeling refreshed and full of good food! If you’re ever passing through (or live close) make sure you stop here for some food and good conversation!
Firstly, there are multiple stipulations within this business. You cannot purchase wings on their wing night without the purchase of another menu item. Also if you only eat five of the twelve wings you cannot leave with your food. I repeat, I ate five out of my twelve wings, that I had purchased, and the waitress proceeded to argue with me that I cannot have a box unless I eat at least six. She even counted my wings when I asked for a box the second time. This whole wing system makes the customer feel very unwelcome, as well as arguing with a customer can make you feel unwelcome. Lastly, on my first visit to this place, the service was disgustingly slow. We waited 45 minutes for food, and never once did we receive a refill. I will never return to this establishment again.
My lady and I really enjoyed Old Union. Great bartenders, great staff in general actually. Nice bar with a very retro feel. Its a nice touch of modern and rejuvenated classic decor. The wings and all the other food we ordered was great. My only complaint with the wings was that they were slightly too big for my taste. The Carolina Gold sauce was amazing and they were cooked properly. I just enjoy really crispy wings and when theyre large, they tend to not get very crispy. But thats just my opinion. The real star of the show for me though was their homemade frips. Fresh cut, deep fried potato chips. And they have a weekly special with a different flavor, other than whats on the standard menu. We had fried chicken and gravy frips and they were amazing. I would come back just for those and some beers for sure. Lol. All in all, Old Union was a cool spot and well be back for sure. Highly recommend
The hostesses are pretty bad here and the kitchen poorly run. We waited over an hour for our food when tables around us were being served. There was even a table of 20 people that showed up after us and they decided to serve that table before our party of 4.Secondly, they will nickel and dime you for every little item and if you order 15 wings, don’t even bother trying to split the sauces. They won’t let you even though it’s no additional effort to toss wings in the different sauces that they have on hand.
What a surprise. An old establishment my friends and i stopped at late on a Wednesday night fit a night cap. There bar is old but discovered a dining area that was very nice and an outside patio that has an upstairs deck that was lot nicely. A couple tables were still full and food smells were wonderful. Now we need to go back to check this place out more fully.
My friend and I always went here when we were younger because it was affordable. We stopped into the new union recently which is nicer, but only in appearance. We got buffalo wings, but for some reason they had put ranch in the sauce, thats not a thing. When we asked for garlic wings instead they brought out these dry husks with raw garlic sitting on top. So we didnt eat the food. Also, we were over charged for well drinks we got the same order we did a week before and the price was literally 2x greater for the same order.. Even when I asked for one last drink he brought us 2 each instead of 1 and charged us for it. I will never go there again, there are better places in town to eat and drink by far. It is but a shadow of the old union and Richies cooking.
My daughter was relocated to the area for her job. One of her work associates suggested she go there. She took his suggestion. She felt right at home by the great atmosphere, owner and staff. I visited her yesterday and this is the place she wanted to take me! Having been in the restaurant business myself for several years I was impressed by their hospitality. I look forward to going back. Thank you for providing a home away from home for my daughter. Service was great, food was great and the fellow patrons were equally friendly. Would like a shout out to our Lyft driver Gator, our Mixologist TR and our host Adam. The best way to explain the experience is that it mirrored the sitcom “Cheers”. Thank you for a great evening!
I ordered steamed pot stickers and got fried to the point of being dried out and nasty!! Ordered extra crispy hot wings and got hot wings with so many hot pepper flakes on them, couldnt even eat 2 of them!!! For that Price it was REALLY BAD!!! WONT BE GOING THERE AGAIN!!
It does have great food. But its more of a you need to know the local people or bartender or your a outcast. My friend went in there and they kicked him out because of his religion. He tried to explain he is Irish but it isnt a religion and they threw him out the door by force.
Being gluten free isnt easy I had the cheddar ,bacon, ranch fries. Would have liked more cheddar & ranch. It was just drizzled over. My dinning partner had the speedier sub, chicken overdone and no actual sauce so was very dry. She got an apology and had the marinated chicken sub. Nice and moist. I had a Bacardi and coke,a good strength.
Wings. Ive never been a big fan of wings...until the Union. Big, juicy, crispy, and flavorful. Just enough flour to give them a crunch without weighing them down in breading. They are much better when eaten there, but we still enjoyed them when they were ordered togo. I also like the eggplant fries with marinara and ranch. They taste like little eggplant parmesan sticks. The garlic parm fries never last long either. I used to order the hot, but Im too big of a wimp now. They were H.O.T. but still with flavor. I go for the medium/garlic parm and honey syracha now.
I arrived here at 5:40 and the bar was packed so we went to the seating area as the first people there, after we got drinks the waiter never asked for our order until 7 other groups came in and she got there orders all first. Then after we ordered she made some excuse about the grill being backed up so everyone else has their food and is done and shes come over to us once total and other tables multiple times our food arrived at 7pm 1 hour 20 min after arrival, we finished and asked for a box at 7:20 we got a box however all our food has sat here 20min not taken care of and she hasnt gotten us the bill yet. They were definitely short staffed because there was only 1 waitress. The award winning wings were pretty good wing wise sauce was ok might come back and hope this never happens againEdit: waiters name was ashleeAnd quote from the wife good thing I didnt order beer before my food got here or I would be hammered by now
This is a good oldfashioned neighborhood bar...the food is delicious and plentiful. It is reasonably priced and children are welcome. Monday night is wing night...$.50 each..there are 7 different flavors to choose from.. AND. They are all yummy...a great meeting place for all friends and family...we go usually 2-4 times a month.
The old union hotel is my favorite bar to frequent for food and drink. They feature a full length bar various seating options and a dining area. If your looking for the best bar food or even a good steak, this is the joint. Owners and staff are friendly and engaging. Ive tried the majority of the menu and have some favorites that makes it hard to choose, so sometimes I frequent the U more than once a week to get my fix. Highly recommended to anyone who has not gone!
The food is really good & the one server that’s always been there is super kind. But we ended up getting a new server who was absolutely terrible. Didn’t refill our drinks at all I had to go up to her and bring them to her. Didn’t bring our food out to us then charges us for take out containers. Never have been charged for take out containers. Honestly wouldn’t have been mad about it if she actually came back to our table. She only brought us our drinks & she reached over everyone which was very inappropriate. Ruined my experience. Most likely not coming here again w the chances of getting her as a server.
Every thing was good after we got seated. When we first arrived we stood at the wait to be seated sign and felt like we were ignored. After standing there for 5-10 min and 10 employees had walked by, someone finally said it will b about 10 min, which was fine but they didnt take our name or ask how many were in our party. Wings were good, fish sandwich was good, burger was over cooked (asked for medium) it was so dry.
Soggy pizza. After asking the waitress if the fish was fresh and not processed She said it was fresh so I ordered it. It was a processed fish like McDonalds. They replaced the wet soggy pizza but it wasnt muck better than the other one. The tap beer cost more then the can beer. Wont go back.
1st visit here but have had take out a few times. Very busy and I can see why. Energetic, fun atmosphere with a variety of patrons. Came with a large group for reservation. Staff was very attentive to our party. Very welcoming establishment, service and food was amazing! I will make a return trip in the future.
I was craving wings one night and wanted to find something better than what Ive had in Binghamton before. I did! I had the honey sriracha wings. I expected a sriracha sauce that was just sweeter than usual but no! I can taste and see the actual honey! And it was still nice and spicy. Even better, the texture was PERFECT. Nice and crispy even with the sauce on them. Will come back!!!
Unfortunately my experience at the union was short and not so sweet . My wife and I went there Saturday 15 2020, we entered and went to the bar to find a table the bartender asked if we wanted to be out where the bar was or in the dining room area, we preferred the dining area and was instructed to go back and a waitress would meet us back there. Well the waitress asked us who told us to come back there and told us she was closing the dining area soon. We said the bartender told us it was ok . She had a very displeased attitude after that bring us watered down drinks and taking our order with a scowl. After talking it over with my wife we decided to pay for our beverages and leave .. just wow...smh
We love the hot pies from The Old Union and my sister requests that we go there when she visits from Cleveland. Their other food is also great, with big portions and good prices. At night it is LOUD, be prepared to have limited conversation but its a fun place to eat.
I was here 10 min ago. Sat in the dining and waited 15 minutes before we were helped. Stepped out for a smoke and had our table cleared and asked why we were sitting down by the same man whom sat us 15 minutes earlier. Although the food was great; stepped out again for another smoke when we came back in our food and drinks were cleared and a new party was seated at our table that we had gotten up from not 5 minutes before. We could have walked out with out paying due to the fact that the service was completely oblivious of our party and did not care. I paid for the food that i had not finished eating and will not be back.
A great local spot! Split into a sit down dining area and a bar, it serves an expanded and better than most bar food menu (wraps, sandwiches, variety of burgers, salads, pizza, wings, soups) with their own additions and twists like Frips .Try the wings - theyve won a ton of awards, my favorite are crispy garlic parm.Beer selection is good, with a few selections beyond what youd normally expect. Bar area has tvs mounted, and works out well.Parking is a bit odd - just on the side street nearby - but its always just as close as a parking lot would be, so its not bad, just different.
I was super disappointed. Went there for one thing , honey sriacha wings, they said they were out of honey and they have been for 3 days. Ordered garlic parmesan wings, seriously they were the worse I ever had, they had no flavor and were just wings with garlic flavored parmesan cheese sprinkled on it.
The Best wings by far. Its no longer a hotel so dont expect to rent a room lolThe crowd is trendy work political people who attend at times. 30 somethings tend to fill the bar on the weekends. Just remodeled. The street parking is a bit dangerous i suggest their off street option if possible. A must see if your in binghamton.
Theres a bartender here thats particularly passive aggressive and provides bad service. My last straw was when a waiter in a red shirt with an ankle monitor (of all things) on the night of 6-18-18 had the nerve to say to my companion, make sure he pays. What is that supposed to mean? I confronted him about it later and he smiled. No tip for these losers. I dont recommend.

2022-05-21Stopped by for lunch. Overall, it was a great experience. The wings were absolutely amazing. Probably the best wings we have ever had. We also had burgers, which were ok, not great. The fries were pretty good. Service also was really good. Would definitely go back.

2022-01-25My all time favorite place in the country to go for wings! (Yes, better than Duffs, gag). The Union staff, servers, bartenders and chefs are all top notch! If you want the most crispy, large (and very decently priced) wings ever, this is your place. My favorite go to: Medium Garlic flats. I tip my hat to the owner, Adam. He runs a tight ship, and seems like a great guy to work for. His entire staff never ceases to smile. VISIT THIS PLACE.

2021-08-23Old Union has probably the best wings in the Binghamton area and that’s really saying something. The rest of the food is also great, typical pub fare. Definitely a local spot. The service is pretty slow. It’s usually very very loud in here, either with the music blasting or live bad… if you’re into that. However, the wings never disappoint here.

2022-03-26Great food, service and decent prices with outside and inside seating! The wings are huge, crisp, with delicious sauces!! The building is historic and you just might drive by, if you don’t know what is inside, but a must go to for fabulous food and drink!!

2022-07-03Best traditional Buffalo wings Ive had from anywhere in my life. What really makes them special is the sauce. I get medium garlic which has a really good flavor with just the right amount of heat to it topped with fresh minced garlic. The carolina gold is also a top tier flavor. Its a shame they dont have good wing specials anymore to my knowledge but its hard to find much of a deal on anything these days in Bidens America

2022-04-22I would say terrible service but that would be a lie. One is required service to judge it. I came in sat at the bar for ten minutes made eye contact with four employees and one even said hi, but never once was I greeted or asked if I could be helped. Thank you for the great start to a beautiful weekend!
