This is a very good soup kitchen in Glens Falls that provides meals to those in need each and every day of the week. The meals are typically high quality and they are pretty nutritious and varied as well. They also have options for vegetarians / vegans which is great.Do not necessarily have to be homeless to visit this place but it helps out people as well with indoor residency and other things that you need to be qualified for to get in.All in all this is a great place to get help!

This organization does a lot of good in the community with goals to do even more to help the most vulnerable of the community.

Life changing. Our only hope in a fallen society. Riddled with homelessness and drug and alcohol addiction. The Christ piece our community is missing!

The resources (bridges out of poverty, code blue, food pantry, job search only to list a few) at Open Door are phenomenal. They have a compassion that has been lost at other places. They make you feel welcome. You are safe.

If Open Door would place their employees in positions that they are capable of, so that they would be a builder of self esteem and confidence for the guests, I think the Open Door could be very helpful to many.Staring at the guests while they eat and drink, and grabbing their milk and food while they are eating, is anything but conducive to positive growth in every respect.Open Door is moving soon to a larger facility on Warren Street, I believe the word is said,to be. If they could staff the facility thinking of the well being of the guests as first and of prime importance, there could be more positive growth for the clients. Also maybe to curb the dramatic nature of the mentally ill who overwhelms the place with so much drama, I think would be wise, so as not to chase off people who are hungry and who need to be there.Alot of effort and work has gone into the hearts and souls of the cooks, as I experienced excellent asparagus with cheese sauce, fruit medley, salad, and beef and noodles, with drinks (milk, juice, coffee) and excellent desserts being served. As the behavior of the staff improves, as they forego staring at and watching people eat, as well as deplorably grabbing the spoon right out of the babes mouth as they are eating,,,,,,,then I think this place could have great potential. One must be careful for women and children as well, as to protect them from unfortunate histories of some of the clients.Blessings to the missions needed spirit of treatment and renewal . May Open Door improve everyday, and maybe rejuggle some of its employees, allowing the incapable servers to possibly work in the kitchen or elsewhere, making sure the guests validity and needs come first, to promote encouragement, growth, opportunity, confidence, and success for all who walk thru the OPEN DOOR .

I want to see the pictures of my Fashion makeover last month! I enjoy volunteering at the kitchen, because I have since the year 2004! Awesome food and fellowship with prayers daily! Thank you always for this service to the community daily! Thank you for selling hats, and canvas book bags! My son, Maurice and I cant wait for next year big balloon breakfasts! I really enjoyed doing the dishes both days! I cant wait for the cookout at Schoolapalooza next year! The Take a Bite next year also! I won a 50/50 raffle last night in South Glens Falls for 29.00 my half! Better in my pocket than someones Elses! I think you would agree? Take it easy at least once a day! Talk to you this week at Our Community: Open Door Mission! Today after lunch, December 30, 2015 / a volunteer in a red shirt and jeans asked me where the buckets were for the tables, so I stepped inside kitchen and pointed to the dish sanitizer rack above it! When All of a sudden, Dave, Laura, and James our cook yelled at me to get out of his kitchen, Just like at 8:30a.m. this morning, I asked James our cook for gloves to do the silverware! He yelled at me that he was busy, and to not bother him again! Too many chiefs not enough indians! I wish that Carl stayed because James the cook is over tired with 2 jobs every day! I have been volunteering here 20 years now, and I am getting harassed by Leonard every morning, saying where is his F ing coffee, that I am supposed to make every day! Every one hates me that bad, that they all want to boss me every day! I should hope not! I hope that you would agree with me! Bill the cook needs to be hired, instead, at least he does not yell at me every day, he never yells at me! Thank you for this consideration!
