Always nice being at MaxKenzies , needless, to say the selections were very limited. During this time of the year I expected a lot more.. Sales Clerk was very little help with directing me on the item I was looking for. I was shown a basket of one and told this is all we have. I turned around and ther were many more in different colors and styles.
There are so many negative reviews but those bad experiences don’t describe my relationship with this company. I love the artistry and ingenuity of their designs and I look forward to each new collection. The prices are very high but I have learned to scout for resale sites and watch diligently for their uncommon sales. Everything I have ordered directly from the store has arrived in reasonable time even during covid. They package items safely and with great care. At times it is difficult to communicate with customer service but I know they are going through a huge transition right now so it will improve. I guess if you like their designs it’s easier to overlook some of the struggles they are currently having. Overall I have to assign 5 stars because in the grand scheme of things, they are a fun and dedicated business. Go MC!
Nothing too much outlet about it. Prices were just shy of retail. Staff were not friendly. It was getting close to closing time and they did not want us there. Constantly reminding us that the store was closing in 30 minutes, 20 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, turned away customers and it was pouring rain, 5 minutes! We left before it actually closed, but it was annoying and they interrupted my train of thought as I tried to shop.
Very beautiful buildings and landscaping upon entering MacKenzie Childs. Aurora,N.Y. is a beautiful place to visit and should I say mystical and gives me a since of visiting an ancient place. The only disappointment I had shopping at MacKenzie Childs is when I saw that some of their products they were selling were made in China and India. Dont get me wrong the products were still beautiful, but I assumed that everything from here was hand made. Also Prices seemed alittle high for some of their products. Still worth a trip to visit a fairy tale place located in mystical Aurora.
Still waiting for my 2 of my reindeer! I have been charged, but I haven’t gotten them! Don’t bother calling if you have a problem, they don’t employ any sort of customer service. They don’t return emails or phone calls! Covid has been here since March... time to put Customer Service back on your phones. Here’s a thought...get them a computer, they can work from home! A company is only as good as their Customer Service ....and you are sorely lacking in that area..
As you walk in, amazed and awed by the beautiful items . . . . dont be fooled. Very little of what is in that store is made in quaint Aurora NY, much less even the United States. Your overpriced candlesticks and cookie jars are made in China and the quality of the products reflect that (thats the same China factories making whats in your local Walmart). If you look closely, beyond the paint job, youll see they are sloppily assembled, off center, chipped and littered with Made in China stickers (Ok maybe some Taiwan in there too). Dont waste your money on this supposed American company.
They did a great job of keeping the line moving and there were lots of registers to speed up checkout. Its a beautiful location. Lots of staff to help. Tons of enamelware at 50% off. Things at 70% werent of much interest. Was disappointed in the lack of christmas items. Definitely worth a visit.
WOW!!! So amazing to see the place where this line all started. You can view a short film on how they make their product. Very impressive!!! Very high end. But they have amazing sales once or twice a year Im told. My friend collects this and told me people come from all over the world to their yearly barn sale.
My wife loves Mackenzie-Childs and throughout the years we have bought many items from them, including large furniture. So, she was looking forward to going to their headquarters to do some shopping. Oh what a disappointment. People working there were dismissive and impolite. When we inquired about a couch that was on sale the store assistant gave us a look, said she didnt know the price and left. Another lady told us that the couch wasnt on sale anymore, but they just hadnt taken the on-sale tag off. She then left without asking if we needed more help. Sale or no sale we were planning to buy that couch, however after being treated like that we just left. We wont be buying more items from this brand after this experience.
We came here for the barn sale it was wonderful seeing Cayuga Lake and it was nice seeing every thing l know Mackenzie Child workers were prepared because Barley anything was gone. I give it a 3 star because the lines, we needed lines to get in, lines to get a cart and the worst part, the checkout it was ridiculously long and I just wanted to sit down and we took a tour of the parking lot (as usual) but very nice to see I don’t think we’d come back though cause we have enough
Free Guided tour of the original farmhouse. No two pieces the same, as all pieces are hand painted. Some stunning pieces. Most made me feel like I was walking in the Mad Hatters house from Alice in Wonderland. Hugely overpriced. The quaint village of Aurora was a highlight.
The estate is nice with a great view of Cayuga lake, but thats probably the only thing nice about this place. The prices are absolutely outrageous and arent anywhere close to being worth it. I loath the fact that my mom adores their products because its a small fortune for me come Christmas time. Plus the staff to me at least gives off a snooty vibe just because they work at such a ritzy establishment.
Im so sad to post such a negative review but I have no choice. On November 1, 2020 I ordered a throw pillow. I received confirmation of my order and a note saying Id be notified when I can track shipping or something to that effect. To date, Nov 25, NO pillow and no one to talk to about it. Ive sent 2 different emails to customer service with no response. I found a phone number for customer service in NYC, called and message said customer service closed March 31, 2020. I phone another number for M/C or Aurora Holdings - I called that number but couldnt reach anyone in customer service. I called back and selected Accounting but no answer, had to leave a message. My message is CANCEL MY ORDER AND SEND ME A REFUND of my $244. I am done with Mackensie Childs or Aurora Holdings or whoever they are. I trusted them and apparently should not have. Ordering online is scary stuff even with a company you think is on the up and up!
Although very well-organized, I will not be back again. I have been attending these barn sales for 20 years and the quality of the product has hit a new low. Almost everything was from Vietnam, China, or such. The prices were outrageous and nothing like the original mackenzie-childs beautiful goods. In my opinion, definitely not worth the time or the hassle.
Beautiful but very very dangerous! The shops and the Cafes are gorgeous the merchandise is Mackenzie Childs the prices are sticker shock but I will definitely be back because things are absolutely beautiful in the store service is wonderful people are helpful and friendly and the ride to get out to Mackenzie Childs speaks for itself it is handicapped-accessible and stop in and look around you will enjoy it...
We have been shopping with MacKenzie Childs for years and love ever single item we have purchased. We have worked with many wonderful people in the retail store in Aurora and have always felt welcome, valued and treated like a good friend. However, recently there was a large turnover in the staff and although we miss many of the people that are gone we also really enjoy the new people in the store. The new store manager (Luna) is wonderful! I am not sure what brought Luna to MacKenzie-Child, but she could not be a better fit. She always has a smile on her face and is always so joyous! She is one of those people that just makes you feel good talking to her. I look forward to working with her for many years to come!On a side note.. In my previous review which I removed, I had complained about extremely long shipping delays. That issue has been corrected. Telephone customer services does still seem to be a challenge for them. The agents do not provide the level of service that you would expect from a high end retailer and some of them are down right rude. This may be one case where they need to think about outsourcing it to get a better quality work force (like Jet Blue did). I wont even call anymore.. I just drive the 58 miles to the store. If i was rating the Phone customer service center I would give it a negative 5 if that was possible.
This is an eclectic, wonderfully artistic place to visit. Take the free tour of the farm house, offered about every hour to get a wonderful view and immersion into everything McKenzie Childs. Make sure you check out the clearance/sale are in the back room to the left when you enter. To the right when you enter are bathrooms (also check those out), and an info room that is really pretty cool.
The annual Barnyard Sale was a huge success for business. Unfortunately, I was with an older woman who had a great deal of difficulty with mobility. A 3 hour wait was not going to work for her, so we sat on the grass and enjoyed people watching. My wallet appreciated it!
Oye! My husband cringes every time I go there. Its usually a 1k bill but I love all their pieces. Beautiful made. I highly recommend their Piccadilly bakeware. Holds up well, never had any sticking problems. The sales associate Tom is the greatest, so happy, cheerful, and helping.
What a breathtaking place… Mackenzie Childs is a must if you’re within 100 miles of Aurora New York. It’s a great day trip and while the shop is gorgeous and has so many things to add to your decor… The farm house tour is exceptional and I would recommend it to you or anyone who loves MacKenzie Childs decor.
I purchased items from a friends wedding registry at MacKenzie Childs on July 4, 2019 which was 3 weeks prior to her shower. The checkout page mentioned that they were having shipping delays which I assumed meant a few days. On July 16th, when I had not received the items or any email notifications explaining the long delay, I spoke to Customer Service who said that due to issues at the warehouse, the items may not arrive before the shower. After further discussion, they processed my order which did arrived a few days later. MacKenzie Childs service matches the fine quality of their product!!
Customer service is terrible. I never heard back after several calls and emails sent that included a picture of my chipped ice cream scooper (after the first use), to see if they would replace it. Note: DO NOT BUY the ice cream scoop; I scooped ice cream once, and the enamel chipped off. Also, they will NOT exchange anything or work with you if you receive an item as a gift and do not have a receipt to show proof.
Customer service terrible and pathetic . i order something a week ago never got a tracking number information . i would give no stars . people pay a arm and a leg and kidney for your products you guys should have great customer service support wrong . i left a better business breau review .
We have thousands of dollars of MacKenzie-Childs in our home but this last experience is notable. Weve been waiting 5 months for MacKenzie to ship a cake knife we purchased as part of a wedding gift. They have made several commitments but so far havent delivered what weve purchased. This item was not on back order when we placed the initial order. Pretty disappointed in their sevice.
Did not come here during the barn sale which I regret but the Finger Lakes are scenic and Mackenzie Childs is nestled within the region; Filled with colorfully upholstered furniture and cute bric-a-brac Mackenzie Childs is definitely an interesting place. They also have a little farm outside and a lake! The only thing I didnt like was that although they had incredibly unique phone cases and accessories, the prices for the Iphone 6s case were so much higher than the other versions and a lot of the merchandise is ridiculously expensive, so pretty to look at though...

2017-10-16Stopped by MacKenzie-Childs store and show house while in the area doing winery visits. Definitely worth the stop just to look. The free house tour only takes 30 minutes or so and the place is pretty cool. Walked around the shop a little. Very expensive stuff but fun and unique.

2020-02-21A place filled with magical pottery and home decor. Being a Truly MC member is great way to have access to events like the dried floral arrangement event. It was fun and inspiring.

2022-05-12I took my girl friend here years ago and she loved it. The stuff they sell there is mostly made for women.

2021-08-15My friend and I visited the outlet Saturday. It is a beautiful location and the grounds are a site to see. My friend purchased a clock a year ago and the clock never worked. She brought it with her in the hopes of an even exchange. We did not see the clock in the store, however when she asked the sales clerk, they were able to find a working clock! We drove 5 hours one way to get to the outlet and for this exchange alone it was worth it. Excellent customer service, all staff were friendly and efficient. A special thanks to Danny, who assisted us with the clock.

2021-10-01Very disappointing! We have been coming here 4 times a year for the last 10 years and have always loved the displays and the ability to check out new items especially at the holidays. The outlet has neither variety nor artistic excitement. We designed our kitchen with Mackenzie Childs pattern. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back.

2020-11-07Beautiful, high-end shop on the east shore of Cayuga Lake. Located in historic Aurora, N.Y. Great merchandise selection for MC collectors.
